Starting point is 00:03:56 They want us to come to Michael Vick games in Michigan versus Ohio State. You up for it? Michael Vick in Michigan. What's that got to do with Michigan and Michael Vick got to do with each other? Different games, it was different games. Yeah, ain't Michael Vick coaching in Virginia, nigga? Yeah, he has no folk state.
Starting point is 00:04:19 Yeah, they want us to do one black college game, but really just a bunch of games. I know Michael Vick, what he got to do with Ohio or Michigan. But yeah, I support Mike Vick. Definitely, man. Definitely support him. The game of the Viet is the first game of the season, Texas versus Ohio State.
Starting point is 00:04:42 That's the game, Viet. Yeah, we knocked Texas out of the playoffs last year. So Archie Manning gonna be up and ready to go. And then, you know, we got two players who are gonna be top five picks, you know, coming out next year. So it's gonna be, that'd be the first game of the season. So. Well, listen, man, Archie Manning ain't playing that game.
Starting point is 00:05:04 Archie Manning might got something to say about that. He might be like, y'all beat him, but I ain't play. Yes. Yeah, we gonna see. Yeah, all right. Listen, I'm around with Ohio, but Archie Manning, nice man. That is the game that we at. That's in Ohio or Texas.
Starting point is 00:05:22 No, that's Ohio State, first game of the season. They don't call it the kickoff classic, but it is the first game of the college season. New game. Well, listen, Mo, I'll come back home. There's no Murdae showing up. He left y'all hanging already. Yeah. Yeah.

If anything, I deserve a ring for the work I put in out there, man.
Starting point is 00:07:00 Yeah, man. I'm an anthem. You goes? Yeah, I got, yeah, they used to get it in Ohio, man. They need to come out to that, bro. Get the DJ in order and all that, man. Get the DJ in order and all that, man. Hey, listen to me. So I'm going to go ahead and advocate for the animal, make it happen. And when I be sliding through traffic,
Starting point is 00:07:20 going to get my legal money, that's my theme music now. Thank you, man. I'm happy I could do something for the city, for the state actually. For the state, yes. We appreciate it. It's a state song. Nobody was shouting out Springfield and Dayton and all that. I was in the crevices, boys, man. The town niggas don't even know about, man. Well, I will say this, and I will say this because there's a ton of people who watch it. Thanks to every single person when I'm moving around town, when I'm going to any and everywhere
Starting point is 00:07:51 who always talk about they love the show that they watch the show. So I'm just telling y'all now on the platform instead of y'all see me in person, thank you all for tuning in and watching the show. Thank everybody, we appreciate y'all. Very sure. Also a great way to start the show Maurice, I'm happy you brought out the show. Yeah, thank everybody. We appreciate you. Very short. Also a great way to start the show. Maurice, I'm
Starting point is 00:08:06 happy you brought out the rings. Mase, it's great to see you playing. We'll see if that stays consistent. Let me go grab the go grab me. I have to go grab me something, man. So she's going, you know what I'm saying? If we gonna do shit, we gonna start doing all this. I'm a champion my own right, man. Right.
Starting point is 00:08:35 Oh, hold on, hold on. My photo, before you start, Stack, congratulations. Congratulations on all the things going on with Revolt. So that's a win and the championship. So do want to shout that out. you. I'm so proud of you. I'm so proud of you. I'm so proud of you. I'm so proud of you. I'm so proud of you. I'm so proud of you. I'm so proud of you. I'm so proud of you. I'm so proud of you. I'm so proud
Starting point is 00:08:49 of you. I'm so proud of you. I'm so proud of you. I'm so proud of you. I'm so proud of you. I'm so proud of you. I'm so proud of you. I'm so proud of you. I'm so proud of you. I'm so proud of you. I'm so proud of you. I'm so proud of
Starting point is 00:08:57 you. I'm so proud of you. I'm so proud of you. I'm so proud of you. I'm so proud of you. I'm so proud of you. I'm so proud of you. I'm so proud of you. I'm so proud of you. I'm so proud of you. I'm so proud of you. I'm so proud of you. I'm so proud of you. I'm so proud of you. I'm so proud of you. I'm so proud of you. I'm so. Thank you,
Starting point is 00:09:25 Superdope. This is exactly what winning looks like. I love to see it. They love it too. So now we got to talk about game six, which is exciting was also sad because that's how we know we're coming towards the end because y'all know when the season wraps game seven, but we've got our first NBA finals game seven since 2016 after the Pages beat the Thunder 108 to 91. So Maurice, how are you feeling about the way this game went?
Starting point is 00:09:50 I think my opinion is pretty much the same way everybody thought. I was surprised. I thought that OKC would smell blood in the water and that they would basically be a lot more aggressive. But if you looked at body language from the first two quarters, it just looked like the OKC was,
Starting point is 00:10:08 I don't know if it was just overwhelmed from the crowd. I don't know if it was just like, hey man, we got another game seven and we're not playing with urgency. But from the start of it, and I just know from being around championship programs, man, attitude is everything. Attitude and mentality determines, you know,
Starting point is 00:10:23 your approach, how you behave, how you run, jump, rebound, how you get in past the lanes, how you, you know, go for second shots. Just all of that championship effort, uh, it was basically on display by the Pacers and by the spot, like by the end of the second quarter, that's when things started to look fuzzy for, for OKC, you know, when, when Shay couldn't get going, uh, and you had the rotation of Indiana's bench, guys coming off the bench and being like super productive. And the crowd got into it, which they called like the sixth man or the 11th man in football, 12th man in football.
Starting point is 00:10:55 It was just it was a whooping, you know, to say the least. And so I don't know. Like I was thinking to myself, I said, man, after you beat somebody that bad, and you have one more gang with gang seven, I said, man, do you really like just a mental shift? Do you have the ability to to come back from that? And I don't know. So I love to hear these guys takes on it. But just like the rest of the world, I was surprised. But Indiana looks like that they want to win the championship. I think that that's it's all derived from Coach Carlisle,
Starting point is 00:11:28 from him being a champion as a player, and him being a championship previously with the Dallas Mavericks as the coach. And so he can speak to that, he can talk to that, and he can encourage them guys in a way that OKC's coach probably can't. But that's my take on it. Yeah, I think the first, from the first quarter,
Starting point is 00:11:44 it looked like OKC was trying to play and really trying to really there was there for the game. But I think when that second quarter got going, it just looked like it turned into a complete blowout, you know, pause. And then when you're looking at people like topping coming off the bench getting 20 is I know sometimes is made simple, but it really is that simple.
Starting point is 00:12:09 If you got your sixth man coming off the bench getting 20 and TJ, TJ is a difference maker in this series. I don't know if people really look at him and small guards as effective. I know a lot of times I say, you don't win championships with small guards as effective. I know a lot of times I say you don't win championships with small guards, but when you got him coming off to the bench, I forgot the little guy name that was on Dallas that made the difference between LeBron and D Wade and then he came off the bench.
Starting point is 00:12:37 But Revra, something like that, that played on Dallas Mavericks, he changed that series in the same way TJ is making a difference in this thing. I think when it comes to game seven, if they could play even close to the way they played this game, they have a great chance in bringing the championship back home to Indiana. And it'll be a beautiful thing because all along I've been telling y'all Indiana looks like the team that came to win it all. I mean, you got a little hiccups here and there,
Starting point is 00:13:07 but I wouldn't be surprised if they pull it off. I don't think they'll pull it off, but I wouldn't be surprised if they pull it off. Because I think when they go back to OKC, Shea is not gonna lose on that floor. He's just not. You know, what happened this game was a one off and it's not going to happen again. After all, I would feel comfortable knowing I got the MVP with the ball in
Starting point is 00:13:31 his hand in any sport. If you got the MVP as a pitcher, you got the MVP as a quarterback, you got the MVP as a point guard or a shooting guard, you just feel very comfortable knowing that you got the MVP, the present day MVP got the ball in his hand. And I was, I was happy to see him in Halliburton come back, but he's going to have to have more than 17 in order to win this championship. Yeah, man. Listen, let me tell you what happened Rico right here, man. Listen, first of all, Murda, Mo, you got, this show be having a lot of subliminals
Starting point is 00:14:30 and I catch all of them, because I'm flicking. Mo starts off his shit talking about Rick Carlisle got experience because he's a championship player and a coach. Okay, Mo, all right, we understand. He just tweaked his days. All right, we understand. We understand that you got you. He's a player and a coach, we get it. Secondly, Murda, you're talking about JJ Barrera. You called the White last week and the Spanish community got a little upset
Starting point is 00:15:05 with you with the Dallas. You was talking about it. That's a little upset about it because he said he's not white murder. So you talked about Dallas. Yeah, yeah, they was upset with you. But yeah, listen, to me, to me, it's not a sense of, it didn't look like a sense of urgency to me when it comes in. I'm not gonna get in the numbers, but yeah, from the second quarter, the middle second quarter, this game was over. It wasn't a sense of urgency to me from OKC.
Starting point is 00:15:35 It looked like they played like they knew they had one more game. If they didn't win this game, like, don't worry about it. We're going home. And I wouldn't have counted on that. This would have been my game seven if I was um okay see because if you look at this game and I won't even get into stats mouse turner had three and they won by he shot one for nine they still won by close to 20 points so it's not really about stats. It was about the urgency of Indiana. Indiana
Starting point is 00:16:06 on defense actually looked like OKC. They actually was, you know, Shay Gilder was at eight Turner was, was master career high, but you could see the pressure on him. Even I was watching the highlights afterwards and his lack of turning the ball over and then getting back on defense, Tim Legler, I love Tim Legler, shout out to Tim Legler when he does an analyst shit. He circled and pointed out every time Shay Gilders didn't run back on defense.
Starting point is 00:16:35 So he's turning the ball over, then jogging back on defense. Not just when he turned the ball over, even on missed shots. His lack of effort, and we know what Shay could do. I'm not taking none away from him, but he didn't play like it's a sense of urgency. We all talk about, you know,
Starting point is 00:16:53 who's the greatest basketball player, so on and so forth. And of course, Jay is putting up great numbers this season. But, and of course, you know, everybody got their choice, whether it's LeBron, whether it's Jordan, whether, you know, Coie their choice, whether it's LeBron, whether it's Jordan, whether, you know, Kobe, whatever. But I know one thing for sure, Michael Jordan didn't do game sevens.
Starting point is 00:17:12 You know, he didn't even let it ever get to a game seven. So when you think about that, he always said we can't get that because to me this is a pick-em-game. Now it's like, yo, if Indiana come in there with that same energy, who knows? And then we'd see what Rick Carlisle is doing, game to game to game, changing up his strategy.
Starting point is 00:17:34 And that may be the difference in this series when it's all said and done. So we'll see what happens. But to me, OKC did not look like it was like an urgency. It looked like there was some niggas that knew they had another game. We got J. Dub going for 40 to get in less than 20. That's also going to be a problem. We see he needs to get 25 or better for them to win because everybody knows the tension is going to be on J. Gilder's Alexander. Basie made some great points off the, Obie Toppins coming in getting 20 points.
Starting point is 00:18:07 And we not just going to count the points from TJ McConnell, we going to count the scrappiness. We going to count him getting rebounds over Hardstein, him getting the loose balls, creating fast breaks. And there was this beautiful basketball to watch from the Indiana Pacers. Siaka, very, very consistent, man. If they win this thing, I don't know his age, but he got to be up for some more chicken. You know, that n***a has been real good throughout these playoffs. We know that we actually see Halliburton hitting these big shots and those shots were big to get them to the next round. But the consistency of Siakam is really with Halliburton
Starting point is 00:18:47 in a position to do what he had to do. So we'll see. But I can't I know we I know I picked OK see the wind. I'm not going to get smart pick but this is a pick of game coming up. Yeah. Hey Cam before we go is that dog an emotional support dog? I just I just I just found my papers. I just found my papers to make it an emotional support. You gotta fill out paperwork. So yeah, yeah, yeah, you gotta fill out paperwork. Where did the dog come from? It's my nigga, it's Rico, man.
Starting point is 00:19:23 Why? Okay. I'm going with Indiana. And the reason I say this is because I can give you Yukon and I can give you all the things that you need to get to the game. So, I'm going to go with Indiana. And the reason I say this is because I can give you all the things that you need to get to the game. So, I'm going to go with Indiana. And the reason I say this is because I can give you all the things that you need to get to the game. So, I'm going to go with Indiana. And the reason I say this is because I can give you Yukon and I can give you Ohio State. Sometimes at some point of the season, it doesn't matter who's better on paper, it's who's playing best in that moment
Starting point is 00:19:57 and who wants it more. And right now Indiana just look like they want it more. Okay Mo, you coming home, Mo. Coming home, Mo. It's momentum. It's all momentum will be in sports. You got to have momentum. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:20:14 They got momentum right now. You know I'm going with Indiana. That's my team. I just got to double check and ask. Like, just try to keep it. Oh! Oh! Oh! You look like double emotional. I'm gonna? Sin City mad at my dogs. He said, I got punk ass dogs.
Starting point is 00:20:47 Look, he mad. Yeah, he mad at my dogs, man. That's why I brought him on the show, man. I'm going to, listen, even though Indiana won in OKC, if I'm not mistaken, OKC is really strong at home. I'm gonna stick with my pick. I'm not gonna change my pick, but if Indiana wins, I'm not gonna be surprised
Starting point is 00:21:17 because like I said, we can't shake or do whatever he want. That nigger's the MVP. He's the arm league leader scorer this season. The Western Conference MVP. We know he's a walking bucket, but he'd be mad concerned with them outfits after the game. I mean, yeah. I get it, yo.
Starting point is 00:21:39 You be to, I give it to him. He a fresh nigga, but yo, you gotta, you gotta come in not so fresh when you lose by 20. You gotta act like it was a rough night, my nigga. He be coming in still acting like he killed it, my nigga. You didn't kill it. Take that outfit and come in with a fucked up t-shirt.
Starting point is 00:21:56 Let niggas know you got a problem. But you see what they did to him. The biggest difference, what I've seen from every game was, you know how he take guys at the top of the key and he claps him and he got that spin moving inside the lane. They've been collapsed as soon as he turned his back, they just take that whole move away. And it felt like when they took that move away, it felt like that kept on, like it was like that they got so used to him scoring buckets out of that,
Starting point is 00:22:21 that they didn't have another second or third option off of that. And I just wonder if they like he's gonna go back to that to just take that away from him because he causes so much havoc with that. Get into paying spin off somebody or just that little seven foot bucket that he always shoot seven feet 15 foot buckets. I don't know. Yeah. Yeah, this is crazy because if they should they should as Jay now that I don't don't think it won't even be a close game again.
Starting point is 00:22:48 If they could repeat that. And I think this goes back to what one of you, I think Killa was saying about Carlisle. He just understands things that he's saving in his bag. We was talking about that earlier in this series that he probably let one game get away from him just so, you know, like you, you save that still you can get for the end of the game or a boxer save that punch that he know he could get off for the
Starting point is 00:23:15 later rounds. That's what it looks like he's doing right here. Yeah. Okay. Well in the comments, make sure you guys let us know your predictions for game seven. We will see who comes out victorious. So of course, game seven is on Sunday. Underdog has Yacom at thirty one and a half points, rebounds and assists. Do you have him higher or lower Mase? I'm going higher. It's for everything. He got to show up. Okay. Yeah, I'm going to agree with Mase. I got to go higher because if they, if everything's on the line for everybody. So at the end of the day, if you want to win, it's going to have to be higher than that. Absolutely. TJ McConnell's at nine and a half points. Do you have him higher or lower?
Starting point is 00:24:00 Cam? That's a good one right there. That's a good one because he's been coming off getting 11, 12 points, but I don't even think it's about the points. It's about the effort. Yeah. I'm going to go high for TJ as well. Nice.
Starting point is 00:24:15 Yeah, I'm definitely going higher. Okay. And Jalen Williams is at 33 and a half points, rebounds and assists. Do you have a higher or lower mace? I'm going lower, I'll pause. Yep. Yeah, that's a good one, man. Cause that's a good one, man.
Starting point is 00:24:31 But he's been playing good at home. I think that to most point, like he said, like having the 12th man on the field in football, having that sixth person on the court in basketball. If you thought Indiana was crazy last night, OKC is gonna be a fucking zoo on Sunday. So I'm gonna go with hire for J.Dub. Okay, make sure you download the underdog app
Starting point is 00:24:56 and you can make your picks too. So this is kind of a loaded question. We're gonna kind of pick it apart. So Stephen A says, players don't feel safe in Memphis. He said, you're going to tell folks why nobody wants to be in Memphis or you want me to do it. Cats like Jimmy Butler and others don't feel like it's the safest environment. I'm talking to the local authorities in Memphis. So then they went on to have a conversation discussing whether Memphis should move on from John Morant or not. John Morant ended up indirectly responding by tweeting,
Starting point is 00:25:25 instead of focusing on the performances we've seen from Jdub Shea, TJ Siakam, how this series is going, we say some negative about a city and team on a national level. He also said talk that people are talking about the Grizz more than the finals with these cap ass sources. So like I said, it's a lot of things to unpack, but let's start with what Stephen A said Maurice, how do you feel about his comments on Memphis? And then do you think that the Grizzlies should move on from job rent? Oh, I mean, this is done with those are just his comments. But, you know, I had two speaking engagements at the University of Memphis, and I got my ass in a rental car. I took my ass to the facility.
Starting point is 00:26:06 And when I was hungry, I drove to Arkansas. You know what I'm saying? And I don't be fucking around. And you can drive around. You're so moved. Yeah, I listen to them. It's my safety first. I can roll around and see what I'm into.
Starting point is 00:26:21 And so I ain't got no business getting out the car. I ain't got no business going to no gas station. I ain't got no business going to they Walmart. I ain't from here. So I'm gonna go drive my ass right over about the safe home depot in a safe Walmart. And I'm gonna go to Cracker Barrel out there in Memphis by the FedEx facility. And that's it. So I get it. Like when you got something to lose, and you're in a desperate city, and this is not to say nothing about Memphis in particular, but when you have something to lose, you can't be moving around people who own Wolf Time. That is just what it is. And so he's talking about dudes who make 20, 30, 40, $50 million in a very
Starting point is 00:27:00 violent city. It's a real city. And so if you don't want to collide with that, you avoid it. And so I can feel him from that perspective. And so I'm jokingly saying it, but I'm seriously saying I got something to lose. So I don't even like crossing paths with dudes who really don't be, you know, be having the same thing lose with me because I don't want to be in a circumstance. I don't want to be here. So that's just my take on it. I agree with Mo. Yo, listen, when I do shows with service cities, any city I do a show, I send a nigga out there to get a rental. And depending on what city it is, I go to the next town. I'm not spending a night in that city. That city is Mo. I'm on that same type of time, depending on what city it is.
Starting point is 00:27:45 My nigga go out there, I don't want your car service. Do not book me for no hotel. I don't want you booking my hotel. None of that. Like promoters, I'm talking about as a rapper. You know what I'm saying? When you get booked in a certain city,
Starting point is 00:27:58 I don't let promoters book my hotel. I don't let them send me car service. I get a rennet and my nigga go scout out everything. And after this show, we go into the next city. If I think it's a city that's like that. Cause I've been through too much shit. I told you. You know what I'm saying?
Starting point is 00:28:16 Yo fam. Yo fam. This is a dead serious story, right? This is dead serious, right? Listen, I was at, I had a show in North Carolina. I don't even remember the town. It wasn't like Charlotte or nothing. It was like a small town.
Starting point is 00:28:36 And the next day I was supposed to go to South Carolina. So the promoters was at the North Carolina show and they was to the North Carolina show. And they was to the next show at South Carolina, but they thought Juelz was coming with me. And it was miscommunication. To make a long story short, Juelz had a show. He was in North Carolina, but he wasn't going to South Carolina. He had a show somewhere else.
Starting point is 00:29:00 So the dude who booked the show on Alba had, which we didn't know him that well, he was there. I come out my hotel room, he duct tape scurrying down the hallway like this. I'm like, this yo, what's up niggas? And the niggas come out the room with the hammer like, killer, don't worry about that nigga lot. We good. We going to the next town.
Starting point is 00:29:24 Don't even worry about this nigga right here fuck shit up I'm like no I'm not going with your niggas nowhere bro I'm not going to motherfucking place with your niggas they said nah it ain't about you it's with him I said yo I got in car. I'm getting to my car. They walk to the car. They say, yo, here, take a burner. Talk about a gun. If you don't feel safe, here, hold it. I said, nah, I'm getting on a flight. They followed us all the way to the airport, chasing us in the car.
Starting point is 00:29:57 Talk about, yell out the window, like, don't worry about him. And I'm like, yo, y'all duct taped this nigga. Y'all got duct tape on standby. It's crazy, my nigga. Nah, I'm not going with y'all. He good, he good. He's not a good kid.
Starting point is 00:30:13 That's what happened, Murda. Just like Murda Mubba, just like that. That's exactly what he said. They trying to convince me that I'm good. Don't worry about it. I said, ain't no show. Do whatever more you gotta do to him. God, I don't know the nigga like that.
Starting point is 00:30:31 I'm getting on this flight outta here. And I left, so Mo, I totally did what you said. Murder, you talk about if you tough, you can play it. Niggas came to play basketball, murder. Niggas did not come to be You know I don't know. I don't know you know, out. 100%. But that's what I'm saying. You saying that Josh should pick Josh should be like, yeah, if you tough
Starting point is 00:31:30 like that, come here. You brought up Z-Bo. Z-Bo was I'm not going to get into specifics but you know Z-Bo affiliated, right? I don't know if you know that. I don't know if you know that. No, I'm saying this because every time everybody hit three,
Starting point is 00:31:47 they throwing up gang signs, go play in Memphis, man. Yeah, that nigga, that nigga Z-Bo is the big homie, man. He's super duper affiliated. A lot of people don't know that. I remember we had a show at LA and he was coming to see Juelz and we in the back of the parking lot. All I see is wild bloods, the bloods with the with the barrettes in their head in LA with the you know these plaid shirts. This ain't the other city bloods, this the
Starting point is 00:32:23 ass shirts, this ain't the other city blood, this the converse, all that. So I'm like, oh shit, niggas coming to get us. I don't even know what was going on. So I'm talking to niggas, out the blue, a seven foot nigga come out the hall, them niggas talking about, nah, the big homie you wanna speak to y'all, it's Zack Randall.
Starting point is 00:32:42 Zack. Zack. Zack. Zack. Zack. Yo, Zach Randall. Yo, Zach Randall, seven foot running around with like 19, 20 niggas. They said he fucked the whole Calabasas up with that shit, B. So Zach and Zach, my nigga too, shout out to Zach. But yeah, I'm with Moe, man. I can't, I'm not going there. Now I'm more on the mores. And I don't want to think of people I'm not wasn't serious. I was serious about everything I just said. But on a serious note, you got to think about this. When you're
Starting point is 00:33:15 in your 19s, teenage years, 20s, even early 30s, and you listen to music, and you see all the valance that's happening, music related in Memphis, you like, yo, this is tight crazy, like RIP, young Dove get killed, not saying other people have it, I'm just bringing up this situation, RIP, young Dove get killed, then, and I'm not speculating,
Starting point is 00:33:39 I don't got nothing to do with Memphis business, I have nothing to do with it, but then your Goddy brother get killed. After that, it's get killed at a funeral. Stoss Walker was just out there hanging out. He was just with a nigga and he got shot up. You know what I'm saying? The whole world got killed. This is in front of the arena. This is in front of the arena. Yes. Yeah, Murda, so you talking about
Starting point is 00:34:06 only the Stunt's of Bifiddle and the Finis. No, I'm not laughing, but this is what niggas is seeing. You know what I'm saying? You know niggas always talk tough when they got camo on. Yeah, listen, so like I said, man, I got much love for Memphis and much respect for
Starting point is 00:34:26 Memphis. And like I said, it's a few unfortunate events that happen there. You got to think about the stuff that doesn't make the news. You get what I'm saying? So I love Memphis. I love America. Memphis is super violent. I mean, even the teenage kids going out there, it's crazy.
Starting point is 00:34:45 I just was in there for a different take than Mo. I would never go to Memphis. They couldn't find me. I mean, the money you got me with, man. So I understand, like I said, I don't know if Steve and Nate knows the details of rap music and everything else. So you gotta think about it from whatever perspective he looking at it from.
Starting point is 00:35:12 Cause I'm pretty sure he not in the rat trenches to be knowing Source Walker got shot. So you know what I'm saying? So what is his perspective of the violence of other people he's talking about? So listen, I got love for Memphis, but I understand. Yeah, you get a big house in Memphis is like a big house in Compton.
Starting point is 00:35:34 And then back to you. Back to you. I understand. We always talking about Memphis. But back to your points that it seems like this is that is that this is that Memphis back to Josh staying on the Grizzlies. It's about look, we talked about this a few weeks ago how Josh is a franchise player, or he was supposed to be a franchise player. And then you have people that were underneath him, surpassing him.
Starting point is 00:36:10 As far as, you know, not saying age-wise or anything else, what I'm talking about, status-wise. When Jad, two, three years ago, was at the top of his game before all the injuries or all the stuff off the court, and all the antics, the pins and the needles, the gunshot, everything. You got SGA, not just SGA.
Starting point is 00:36:31 We got to see the emergence of Anthony Edwards. The now then say, is he gonna be better than these two? Cause it seems like these two are gonna be running the West for a minute. Is Jai gonna get back to that elevation? And if he is, do we have the right team around him to beat the Minnesota Timberwolves, to beat the OKC Thunder, to compete with the Lakers, you know, to compete with a young Houston team, to compete with San Antonio if they end up getting
Starting point is 00:37:00 one of these offseason picks that they're talking about. So that's the question that they're probably having in the Memphis front office and ownership said, well, if we don't keep John Moran, what could we get back for? And that's, they could give back some great assets. I don't think that there'll be a good step. Only problem for John, I mean, John bought a think that there'll be a good step. Only problem for Jai, I mean, Jai bought a house that was like 20 million and bought his house, his parents' house down the block worth like 12 million.
Starting point is 00:37:31 So, gotta put them on the market. Yeah, you wanna see Jai in Miami or somewhere like that anyway, he'd be better off in Miami. He really would. It don't matter that. And they got pieces, they got pieces that even fit the color that Memphis wanna go in. Well, listen, man, I think, not to cut you off more,
Starting point is 00:37:56 I think that he's built a great team. I don't know if Miami's the city for John. I don't know about that. Booby trap, Liv, all the different things that go on in Miami. I don't know if that's the best place for John outside of basketball. T-Morant won't deny it.
Starting point is 00:38:16 If the call come in right now, Miami talking about something. T-Morant gonna say, man, you gotta follow your heart. Yeah, man, listen. going to come in right now. Miami talking about something. T. Moran is going to say, man, you got to follow your heart. Yeah, man, listen. Yo, speaking of fathers, we talked about T. Moran last couple of years, of course,
Starting point is 00:38:37 because he's a figure on the sideline. We see with Halliburton's dad. Did y'all guys ever get a chance to see Faye Gilder's Alexander Farber? Hey man. With the chain? You talking about what he said to Jeff T?
Starting point is 00:38:52 Yeah man, that nigga wild man. Yeah man, that nigga wild. Hey listen to me, Jeff T was supposed to be violating it on the show. He even put his wife on the joint. You know what I'm saying? I don't know if you've seen it, Max. Yo, but I'm just saying, not even, that was crazy with Jeff T, but I'm talking about even his Diddy bop on the court.
Starting point is 00:39:21 I don't know if y'all see, he was on the floor, he was on the floor of the Western Conference Finals and Shea gave him the MVP trophy, he tried to throw it in his pocket. Like, yo. He tried to throw the little, I say, yo, this me. He was walking around, he ain't really give a fuck. He's a dady of niggas as well, yo. Yeah, they trying to call him over for pictures,
Starting point is 00:39:44 he doing his own thing, he like, I get the niggas and all that. He got his own thing going on. All been talking crazy. One thing real quick that I'll add about Ja is I'm not surprised by his response to Stephen A because I feel like obviously we've seen at this point that everybody's kind of replaceable, especially with the looky trades of the Lakers. everybody's kind of replaceable, especially with the looky trades of the Lakers. So when these conversations start happening, like, well, maybe the grizzly should look at an other option besides jaw. If I'm him, not saying he should be scared. But when you start stirring these conversations, people start thinking about these types of scenarios. And you don't even want to be put in that type of position to begin with. So that's the first thing. And then the second thing is I also get his point, because he's like, dang, why are people talking about me and my people in my city, when there's
Starting point is 00:40:29 a whole finals going on, but at the same time, we've already seen the viewership isn't where it's supposed to be with the finals. So of course people are going to start pivoting to other conversations and topics. So that's kind of just my opinions on both of those. I don't think that the Grizzlies would look at changing or dealing with somebody other than Ja. But at this point, I don't know. I don't know. Things have been kind of-
Starting point is 00:40:53 Yo, yo, murder real quick, right? We talking about Stephen A. I just posted on my page, I talked to Stephen A yesterday before the game started. Yo, Stephen A was writing all the articles when I was balling at Mad Sun. He was working for the Daily News. I posted it on my page.
Starting point is 00:41:11 I'm like, yo, nigga been writing about me for 30 years, B. Yeah. Yo, film, he was coming to the Mad Sun games and he wrote all the Daily News articles. I got like five articles, Stephen A wrote about me and shit. I had him to dance. I said, listen, man, it's a small world.
Starting point is 00:41:31 Look at this full circle right now. He does remind me of Tom Kachowski a little bit. Yeah, man. Got RIP, my man Tom. Yeah, how they walk in the gym and just be looking around. I mean, for the whole point is, I don't even, you know, he probably don't look the same today as he did back then, but I didn't even notice.
Starting point is 00:41:54 You wouldn't be looking for Stephen A in 94. He's a writer. But yeah, he wrote them daily news articles, man. It's a small fucking world, man. That's crazy. That is crazy. Okay so in other news y'all they're selling the Lakers we will discuss after the break. Got you feeling like option. Maybe I'm on my own problem, babe. She's tired of hearing I don't know.
Starting point is 00:42:30 My stubborn in me won't fall. Oh, dealing with this thing called trust. But she really thinking about wanna be free. Welcome back. So the bus family is selling the controlling stake of the Lakers to Dodgers owner Mark Walter for a sports record of $10 billion. The bus family originally bought the team in 1979 for $67.5 million. So this is really the end of an era. Maurice, if you were in their shoes, would you have sold it? And then to what's your thoughts on them selling it? When I first heard it, I just thought like, like most things like all things come to an
Starting point is 00:43:17 end. And I think that the father probably grew Jeannie up in the business. But then as she's gotten older, her kids probably didn't want to take care of the business. And they had different resources to go out and start things that they wanted to get into things that they liked. And they just probably had different interests. I remember when I read about the Lakers a few years ago, and I looked at the ownership group and looked at what her kids had done. These kids are in Hollywood, so you can get into real estate, you can get into television, you can get into so many other things, and you have a tremendous around
Starting point is 00:43:49 resources. And obviously, you know, when I look at this, I look at this kind of like, like you do with music, like, for me, I'm 41, I had a golden era of music where people were, you know, music felt a certain way, you listen to it a certain way to perform a certain way. And I'm pretty sure it's a Lakers franchise, you know, when you think certain way, you listen to it a certain way, and it performed a certain way. And I'm pretty sure at the Lakers franchise, you know, when you think about all of the greats who probably came through there, played, performed, and so on and so forth,
Starting point is 00:44:11 and they probably look at LeBron as like the last guy like that, and they don't really wanna deal with the future. And so they said, hey, here's a great time to sell and get into some of the other stuff that we wanna get into. So all things come to an end, you know, it's just the end of an era, the Laker is going to continue to be a great franchise, but
Starting point is 00:44:29 you know, just the end of an era and you know, nothing more, nothing less. Oh man, I think this is a very, very important time for the city of Los Angeles. This is like not just a chain of an era, I would say, because it's still standing LA. You get what I'm saying? I believe it's the Dodgers owners that's getting the property, right, and getting the team. So then this just keeps it all LA. It's so many hidden wars that I see happening right here in this particular purchase. Right. So you got Magic Johnson who leaves the Lakers but he goes with the Dodgers and then he doubled
Starting point is 00:45:11 back you know with the with the with the group to get to get the Lakers. Right. So it's like a lot of hitting hitting arm successes in this. Also I I look at this win for the Lakers again as us beating Boston. Boston just sold for six million and now they're like, well, the Lakers sold for 10 billion. I mean, the Boston that sold for six billion, I believe the Sun sold for four million. Then you got the Nets that sold for what, 3.5, I believe. And then you got another team, I forgot who it was, but they sold for 3.3. So when you got all of this going on, the Lakers are still even letting you know, even in selling, we're better than Boston. So I think that was probably in there.
Starting point is 00:46:06 We can't sell it for six million because I meant six billion. You know, Boston sold for six point one billion. So we're going we're going to almost get double what they got. And I think that was an offer. They couldn't refuse it, especially if you got family members that are growing up and they don't want it especially if you got family members that are growing up and they don't want to continue that tradition this would be the perfect time to do it when LeBron is going out like you said and we don't know exactly what the future holds but it's
Starting point is 00:46:35 going to be a new Los Angeles Lakers. Yeah that's some great points, murder man. Niggas said Jerry Busser ran all back beefing from heaven. Like, yo, I'm still, we still winning. I mean, you know how successful niggas think. They're like, nigga. Yeah, that's a great point. Yeah, that's really a great point. Like, yo, we still worth four billion more.
Starting point is 00:47:03 This is a franchise like May 7th and defense since 1980 so yeah so that's a that's a really great point but look and then think about this they so they still own genie bus and the family still own 40 percent they sold 60 percent for 10 billion it ain't like they still don't got some estate left in the Lakers as well. So they like, we still got like another, if we just do a regular math, 4 billion that we can pick up for the 40% if we wanted to do that. So that was a great point. That was really deep thinking. But yeah, listen, Mark Walters, he's not see the thing about it is this, when it comes to owners, all the owners in professional
Starting point is 00:47:52 sports are wealthy, and especially to the average person who has a day job, especially to the average athlete, actually, that they have way more money than the average athlete, which we as a society look is super duper rich. But it's levels when you get there. Some owners got a billion, some owners got 9 billion, some owners got 7 billion, some owners got 2.5 billion. So it's different levels, because now you got to think about this
Starting point is 00:48:23 when you're in those type of rooms they like oh hey we see you you see me climb we climb you climb the charts on ford you're 2.5 man you'll be up with us in the next few years when you got seven billion you get what i'm saying like it's different convos when you have that type of money. And he's a guy that's very successful in everything he did. Mace brought up the Dodgers, which he's 100% correct, but he has success in women's hockey, women's basketball, a soccer team, as well as all the other businesses
Starting point is 00:48:58 that's not sports related. This is not just that, he's a dude that doesn't spend any money. We see,. We see the Dodgers won the World Series, so his investment looks good, but he had to pay for Shote and all them. You know, old Tony and all them niggas. My Mookie Betts and all them niggas, course. And he's a nigga to me that to get the Lakers
Starting point is 00:49:21 where they need to be, I'm not saying he's not paying attention to the salary cap, but I don't think he'll have a problem going into luxury tax if they think they could pick somebody up to win. And when you go into luxury tax, a lot of people don't know. So the way it works for our audience
Starting point is 00:49:37 that doesn't know about salary cap and luxury tax is that you have, let's just use the NBA, it's $140 million a year you have to spend on players. Let's just use Golden State for an example. If you got $140 million to spend in one year, Steph Curry's getting 60 million of it. You got to figure it out. But the other 80 million about your roster.
Starting point is 00:50:02 Now, if you want to go over 140 million, you can, but on every dollar, if I'm not mistaken, it's 80% on the dollar that goes to the NBA. You really only get 20% on the dollar, if I'm not mistaken. So you know how much money you got to get to get another million dollars if you're giving 80% to the NBA going into the luxury tax. I don't think the Buss family could afford that because Tristan called it a mom and pop shop because it was a family-orientated business. They don't really have any other business outside of the Laker brand. A lot of these owners, let's just go back to, we can sit there and talk about the owner for the Knicks. His main hustle ain't the Knicks or the Rangers. His main hustle is Wall Street. You know, the Knicks
Starting point is 00:50:53 is his playground after he gets off work. You go see what we do on my team and all that. You know what I'm saying? James Dolan is a Wall Street tycoon. The Knicks is some fun shit he's doing. The Fierce in Vegas, that's James Dolan. He built that. You know what I'm saying? He has wild upper businesses. So I think that the Lakers will be really good because you have an owner that's going to be willing to spend extra money if need be. This whole conversation to me is crazy. And this is exactly how the rich get richer because even having money to just gamble like that, like, yeah, I'll just put up 200 mil,
Starting point is 00:51:32 I'll put up 500 mil, maybe I'll put in a billion. Like, yeah, I don't personally, I don't like losing money. I don't even like gambling, only picks I'll make is on underdog. So with that being said, the fact that they can even just throw that around to me is just crazy for my mind to even think. But it always works. You have the right players. Right. Like let's think about this. Right. I'm just talking about owners. If you think about,
Starting point is 00:51:55 let's just say a team is, let's do an average, our average team, five, six billion, or let's say three billion, because you know, Boston's six billion, they're a historic franchise. Yeah. Steve Barber, who owns the Clippers, got 56 billion. You know what I'm saying? He got $56 billion, so he like, they selling that shit for three?
Starting point is 00:52:25 Now cop that, cop that, you know what? Build our own stadium. I don't even wanna be in here with the motherfucking Lakers. Go to Inglewood to the old form, build that shit out. How much does it cost? Another 800 million? Yeah, yeah, yeah, we gonna get that back next week. Something is big like that, you know what I'm saying?
Starting point is 00:52:43 Because they can afford to place that to your point. And when you buy in those teams, you're not gonna lose money. Like if you look at the Lakers, like what they bought that actual franchise for, and what they ended up getting is crazy. The flip was crazy. Yes, to get 10 million, like Kim said, they keep that 15%.
Starting point is 00:53:02 They're basically making you pay for the 66%. So you still get a cut regardless. You still can make decisions. Now you're making a profit of 10 million. Like you're kids, kids, kids. Like y'all are straight. Y'all are set. And that's just the beginning.
Starting point is 00:53:16 I can't, that's crazy. This is what I was talking about when I said that I'll, not me, I'm talking about societies. So when we talking about society, you know, I be saying shit so niggas be laughing, but I be saying with society, our rich niggas that we think are rich are not as rich. Remember I was saying niggas wanna buy the team
Starting point is 00:53:41 and I'm like, Jay Z and Oprah's money can't afford to buy the Celtics. If you put it together, they can't afford it. You get what I'm saying? So I wasn't being funny because I don't have nowhere near Jay-Z or Oprah's money. But I was just saying that we, and don't get it wrong, it's always an accomplishment for a nigga to make a hundred million, let alone one or two billion. But I'm just saying in general, according to these owners, y'all ain't got it like that.
Starting point is 00:54:14 You know what I'm saying? You ain't got it like that. And that just goes to show that we don't really be, as a society, black people, we don't have as much as we think. Now us black niggas out there with eight, nine billion dollars, they're just not in the entertainment world. They could they do all the cell phones in Africa and all type of, you know,
Starting point is 00:54:35 I'm saying, yeah, exactly. This is what I'm saying. I'm serious. I realized what, you know, I was watching a special. Probably 25 years ago, 20 years ago. I wish I could remember who this dude was. He was a big time rock and roll star and he was selling a bunch of albums, everything, but he wasn't getting what he's supposed to get from his record company. And he became a millionaire, I think he made close to 20 million, it was like 18, 19 million, off selling shower rings. And I'm like, this nigga went from being a rock and roll
Starting point is 00:55:14 star but made all his money selling shower rings. We just think we got to dance, rap and entertain and jump around and dunk the basketball and catch touchdown dance for us to get some money when it's other ways to get money out there. It's just that that's what we think like this the only way we're gonna get it. This how we gonna, it's other ways to get. I was thinking about some door knobs murder. I seen some shit and I was like, I'm about to hike the price up on doorknobs, man. Cause it's not a big market.
Starting point is 00:55:50 Yeah. And there's not a lot of competition and there's a lot of doors that don't have doorknobs. Yeah, that's true. Yeah. Also to that point, you also don't know what you don't know, which is why I always encourage people to like think outside the box.
Starting point is 00:56:06 I learned a lot, especially when I went to Miami, because people had occupations that I didn't even think were real jobs. I remember there was somebody on my floor, and they told me that their father owned gas. So I'm like, oh, weed? They're like, no, gas mines in the Middle East. Like, the gasoline.
Starting point is 00:56:24 I'm like, oh, I'm not thinking that. What you mean they own gas? Like, I never thought that in my life. Like that's, it was a whole world being around different people and learning things. I said, y'all got that. I want to get there one day. That's going to take some time.
Starting point is 00:56:40 So hopefully, you know, we can start owning more things like that, seeing our kids like that too, cause it is dope, but it's just a different world. Okay. Well, that is all the time that we have for today. Maurice, pleasure to have you this entire season. And always brings out again to mandatory.
