Matt and James Bonding Podcast.
Hey, everyone.
Welcome to the James Bonding Podcast.
I'm Matt.
And I'm also Matt.
Oh.
Man, newswire.
News.
I'll give you some news.
One of us is a father.
That's very true.
Which one?
Find out next week.
No.
Find out now.
Matt, I want to be the first on this podcast.
You're the first on a podcast because the only podcast I've done since having the child was the one with Dory, where we just, we talked about having the child.
So you haven't done one since?
No.
This is your first podcast?
Well, this is our, this is my first podcast.
podcast that isn't a Matt and Dory podcast. I see. Okay. Well, I am... So you're beating
Secundit of the Chase. Yeah, I got that guy. Done. Done. Um, Jonah and Hardwick, I haven't really
podcasted with them in a while, so you're, you're beating them. Yeah. Uh, what else do I do?
This one. That's it right now. Oh, Mosier and Kevin Smith, uh, you're beating them. So,
way to go. Well, I just want to say, A, I'm thrilled for you guys. Mm-hmm. I am so happy for you.
Thank you.
It feels like, I don't know, it's like a ray of sunshine has entered this world.
Also, I want to kind of spoil the gift I got you.
Oh, you're going to spoil it on the podcast of spoilers.
Here we go.
It's a one-z that says, 007 license to spill.
Oh, that is just delightful, and it's going to be a welcome edition.
And I feel like when I'm dressing, I'm heavy rotation.
Well, I can't tell you again how happy I am for you. I love you guys. And this you've, you've gone a long journey to get here. And I just my, it really makes me emotional. It is, you know, it's been an interesting time. And it's, what's fascinating to me is the fact that we have been, Dory and I have been trying to have this child since, I mean, we were trying before we got married. We got engaged. And then we're like, we should try. Because we're old. And, uh, and, uh,
So it's been like the entire time I've been with my wife has felt like all we've been doing is trying to have this kid.
Yeah.
And to finally have the kid after what I would describe as a marathon Cedars Sinai stay.
We were there for six days.
Oh, my God.
It's all worth it.
And, you know, we landed on a name of Henry Julian Myra.
Is that Julian, Julian Lennon?
No, Julian just sort of came out.
I was trying, here's what I was trying to do, man.
Henry James was the name I wanted so badly.
But my wife, you know, with her master's degree in literature, was like, we can't do Henry James.
I'm like, why?
Because the author, Henry James.
I'm like, who's going to make that connection?
And she's like, uh, everyone I know.
I'm like, oh, fine.
So, and then I just was like, Jules, Henry Jules.
And then I was like, Henry Julian.
That's nice.
It's got a good ring.
She was like, yeah.
What's funny about it is she had pitched Henry before.
I had sort of said,
I don't know about Henry.
And then when he came out and I first saw him,
I said, oh, he looks like a Henry.
And if you didn't get a James Bond,
you got an Indiana gentleman.
That's right.
I always like the name Henry too
because I wanted to call a kid Hank.
And now you can call your kid Hank.
Absolutely.
That's a great name.
He's a Hank.
He's a Harry.
He's a Henry.
Yeah.
It's a beautiful name.
A lot of options.
A lot of great options.
But yeah, we're thrilled.
We're excited.
He's two weeks old.
He today had his eyes open for a while.
That was a treat.
Has he been on a podcast yet?
No.
If he wakes up during this, let's get him on.
Let's try to make his debut on the James Bonding podcast.
Yeah.
Well.
Guys, it could happen.
But speaking of births, we're talking about the birth after a couple of false starts.
Yeah.
of Bond 25.
And knock on wood, that this isn't one as well.
Yeah.
For those of you who may be new to the podcast or new word of the podcast, going all the way back to the release of Specter, they had a similar situation.
They had a press conference.
And was it Spector?
What was it?
They had the press.
Yeah.
Yeah, it was Spector.
Well, they did one for Skyfall Spector.
Yeah.
All I know is we did.
We did a 10 minute video.
and we were like, let's talk about it on the podcast, and we talked for so long.
And this is a 20 minute video.
This is a 20 minute video.
So I didn't watch this because I was busy.
This came out a week ago.
You have seen just little snippets.
Yeah, I have just, I have not watched the actual video.
I've heard, interestingly enough, I've heard a fair amount of commentary and podcasting about it.
So we're a little behind the clip.
Oh, you're listening to James Bond podcast that I have.
have never checked out.
Yeah.
It's called James Bonning with Matt and Matt.
Oh, that's a great one.
That sounds great.
So there's some stuff to talk about that we haven't yet, and I'm very excited about this.
Not to mention, I think it was actually just last night.
I had a dream I was hanging out with Carrie Fukenaga.
Because I follow his Instagram, and he's been posting pretty cool pictures from not the shoot specifically, but Jamaica and stuff and, like, kind of fun things.
Look at this bird.
But the West Indies.
So, guys, it's Bond 25.
I will say, I'm going to preface this by saying everything I know about Bond 25 so far, we've discussed on the podcast.
So I don't know a ton.
This is going to probably be the most information I've ever gotten at once on Bond 25 because I'm trying to stay spoiler free.
And because the James Bond 007 official YouTube channel put it out, we think it is appropriate.
Yeah.
And before we begin, we're just going to say that we, because of the wonderful arrival of Henry
Julian. We've been restructuring and having to juggle schedules and stuff. So our commentaries moving
forward may be a little catch-as-catch can. Next up after Casino Royale, which is next week,
we're going to follow it with Quantum of Solace rather than do the last. We figured why deprive you
guys? Why make you guys wait for three years like the rest of us had to at home? And you know us,
we change things up. We're lovers. We're not experts. You don't come here for dependability.
No. You come here for just a just a just a
Why do you come here?
I think you come here for...
Explain yourself.
A familiar timber.
Yeah.
And a subject beloved by millions.
Two people who like yourselves, like a franchise, but also like to have some fun with it.
Yeah.
And fun with each other.
We're all just a big family.
And we shake hands by our voice going into your ear.
Yeah.
We're shaking your hands right now.
All right.
So here it is.
I didn't see any of this, man.
I'm kind of more excited than I should be.
It's at Golden Eye in Jamaica for crying out loud.
That is a treat.
Here we go.
And you are joining me live where we are going to confirm some exclusive news.
I have heard the techman.
Stopping.
Our mess.
Welcome to Golly and Jamaica.
Ladder.
Oh my God, a drone shot.
Wow.
What is this?
Wow, people, you got to check this up.
Golden Eye Jamaica.
Let me just, the first thing I'm going to say about Golden Eye Jamaica.
Yeah.
A little more overgrown than I thought it would be.
Yeah, really.
I thought it would be more manicured.
Really?
Thought there'd be more grass.
Maybe like a croquet situation.
I know.
That's a little beach.
Where Ian Fleming would go out there and probably, he probably had like a wine skin or like a bull scroat him sack full of gin.
And he just drank it underwater and somehow figured out how to smoke underwater.
He wore a diving bell so he could smoke and be underwater at the same time.
Oh, Ian, you are missed, but not forgotten.
So, okay, look, we're going to start this off.
They have, they've done this whole countdown.
Yeah.
Which, too.
Oh, okay.
Oh, yeah.
I mean, this isn't the movie.
People probably won't watch along with this.
Oh, this does get me going.
I've been in a real bond mood lately.
I've got your watch on that.
Oh, yes.
You have got a C-master.
You can tell time with the best of them.
Can you go full screen with this baby?
Sure can.
That's no problem whatsoever.
Oh, boom.
Here's what I'm excited about.
Daniel Craig, I assume, is in this, right?
I'm not sure he is.
Okay.
I was hoping to see what watch Daniel Craig was personally wearing.
Right.
And then we're back to that tree.
I'm here outside in Fleming's legendary golden-eye villa in Jamaica.
In fact, this is the very location where he wrote all of the James Bond novels.
From Casino Royale to the Living Daylights, this truly is the home of Bond.
And later on today, this stung location is going to cement.
its legacy with Bond as we're going to confirm
some exclusive news of Bond. Some children's toys
right there? And I'll be sitting down with
a man himself, Daniel Craig.
Oh, thank God. He's going to, Daniel Craig will be on it
it, guys. To confirm some exclusive
news. We'd obviously love you guys
to get involved. Cram. Yeah, and it's
filming in on itself. B-O-N-D-2-5.
Yeah, what is it doing? We're also going to be caught catching up
with our filmmakers, Barbara
Vrockley and Michael G. Wilson
and director, Kerry
Foucanago, who are going to be bringing you the
25th Bond movie.
Let me tell you a couple things.
As a host of things,
live television, etc.
What she's doing right now is very difficult.
Oh, yeah.
This reminds me in my dumb Volkswagen commercials.
She knows what she's doing.
She does, absolutely.
And there is, I doubt there's a prompter out there because it's in the daylight.
And she's got cards.
And she's got cards ready to go.
Spitball.
Usually those are emergency in case the prompter goes down.
But the fact that she's outside,
I think she's just winging it off top of her head.
and I gotta say, nice job.
That's off.
Oh, wait.
I gotta tell you, pause it for a second.
The dream I had with Carrie Fuganaga, we really hit it off and he wanted to do the James Bonding podcast.
And I woke up really disappointed that.
That it didn't happen for real zee's.
He's a good-looking guy.
Look at him.
Oh, well, let me just first say what I love so far about this.
I paused it on the first shot of the interview, and we have a broccoli, a Wilson.
and it's just so nice to see these half siblings together.
Yeah, and what's going on?
They've got one plate of what looks like maybe papayas.
I think they're waiting for tamales from the kitchen.
Oh, they've got to be mangoes.
And then they're drinking like...
On the mango tree on me or something.
I think that's a gradient.
There's water in that glass.
That's what I've decided.
I think it's a gradient glass.
There's water inside the glass.
Let's find out.
Okay.
Good morning, Kerry.
Good morning.
Good morning, Barbara.
Good morning, Michael.
Hello.
Thank you very much for joining us.
He's weird placement of the camera.
I have to ask, look, the sun is shining.
We are in Jamaica.
What am I hearing in the background?
I've heard that this was a mess.
Is someone like riding by?
With Morocco?
Like, there's,
this is like one of those guys that ride by on a bike
that has its own little,
his Bluetooth sound system with him.
And he's playing whatever he wants to.
Yeah.
Also, does that tree say almond?
It does.
You know, this is where James Bond was created in this very villa by Fleming, what, 57 years ago?
Oh, the mics are all fucked up.
They are indeed.
Oh, I see.
We've got, we're getting playback.
That's playback audio that we're hearing.
Whoa.
So what we're hearing is about a, probably, I think that's about.
about a 14-second delay.
Oh, my God.
James is such a beloved character
by people of all generations
all over the world.
Michael, why do you think he's such an enduring character?
What kind of watch is Michael G. Wilson wearing?
I don't know.
The character of the plumbing created.
Why do you start with this one question?
There we go.
It's the books for inspiration.
And I think it's because we do update the stories
and we do update the plots.
Look at Fukunar.
He's got no socks on.
We got a great creative.
Or he's got like some nice bombus, some low-cut bombus.
Hose ring.
Nude.
And we have a couple of veteran writers.
He's so handsome.
It's ridiculous.
It's ridiculous.
Yeah.
He's even got that look.
Neil Purvis and Rob Wade.
We have a couple of new faces.
We have Scott Burns and Phoebe Waller Bridges.
A very big deal in the UK.
Carrie.
Huck.
Phoebe.
I had to say this about the announcement of her being involved in the script really filled me with a lot of hope.
Oh, I can't wait.
I think she's a brilliant writer.
Fleabag is amazing if you haven't seen it or check it out.
Killing Eve.
Also, she's got, I think, the right type of humor.
If you're going to inject humor into bond, she really seems to get it.
Yeah.
Look, there's a gecko on the wall behind her.
This is the kind of fun.
You'll have a golden eye.
Is this a teenage dream come true?
How does it feel to be at the helm of the 25th Bond movie?
Well, it's definitely an honor to be chosen.
Basically, now since we're about to start shooting, I'm just chomping at the bit.
Chomping?
Chomping.
No, not only.
We're going to have breakfast for you.
Don't worry.
Now, the Bond films...
They did mention the plates.
I'm excited about that.
She said we're going to have breakfast for you.
You know, known for being shot in those incredible occasions.
We are here in Jamaica.
We've been here before.
1962 for Dr. No, and about 11 years later, for Livingette Dye, 973.
What is it about this gorgeous country that keeps coming back?
There's going to be 11 years between Craig Films.
I just think it's very inspiring.
I mean, this is where Fleming created Bond.
You can see the most beautiful.
There is.
Wearing a house dress.
Where Oslo-A-Andras came out of the beach and everything.
So we just felt it was important to come back.
When she said that, he came out.
He freaked out.
You know, Dr. No was shot here, Levin Let Die,
which Michael was in.
actually.
And there's a rumor I might make an appearance in this.
You do like a chief of caveat.
That was the first thing in the contract.
And we're not mad at that.
Barbara, can you tell us without ruining anything what fans can expect from this 25th movie?
Well, Bond is not on active service when we start.
God damn it.
Did you not know that?
No.
He's retired, basically.
I didn't know that because I have tried not to spoil myself of anything.
thing. And Jess, give me one. Somebody out there. Take the franchise away from these two.
Whoa, those are strong words, huh? You're ready. Just for one. And then you got to give it back because
I think they're doing a great job. I want him going about his business. This one was a bit of a zero-sum game
for me because they're not doing a mission. He's out of active service. But Felix Lider,
is not only back, he seems to factor into the story.
So those two kind of cancel each other out for me as good and not so good.
So you're saying you'd take a Felix lighter if it meant Bond is not an active service?
I guess, yeah.
Look, here's what I will say about that.
If he's not an active service, that means he can't go rogue.
That's true.
If anything, he's going back to service.
So he is actually enjoying himself in Jamaica.
Oh, my goodness.
We consider Jamaica Bond's spiritual home.
So he starts his journey here, and we've built an extraordinary house for him.
We've had a tremendous support from...
Okay.
I'm already excited about that because of the idea that they've built a home.
Like, they're like, okay, James Bond's retired.
What's his house going to look like?
Yeah.
Let's build it in Jamaica.
I'm excited about that.
Yeah.
Yeah, I'm very curious about that, too.
In a way that like...
Is it a found home?
Yeah.
Like in Casino Royale, 67 Casino Royale, retired James Bond.
Yeah.
That home.
Yeah.
I love that home.
I did too.
The Jamaican Minister of Culture and Tourism,
and we've had about 500 people, local people, working on the film already.
So we've got quite a ride in store for Mr. Bond.
And no title, unfortunately.
I was going to ask, dare I say, like, do we have a title,
but completely nothing at the moment?
Bond 25.
No, I can't remember the last time we had a title when we announced it.
Okay, well, that's horseshit.
Because they had Spector, it was literally the last.
film you did Michael you announced with Specter oh let me just I think it was
only Quantum of Solace that didn't have a title Barbara is probably thinking
what you're saying yeah she's like well all right tradition now
well bond 25 it is and Kerry can you confirm any other locations for us today
yeah other than Jamaica we have already shot in Norway due to weather and
after Jamaica will be going back to Pinewood and locations around London
and then finishing up in a little hilltop town, Italy called Matera.
Lovely.
So if you live in any of those areas, do look out for this very film crew coming to a city near you.
Now, look, it would be very silly.
I liked that we should go to Pinewood.
Yeah.
Do they have tourists of Pinewood?
They must.
Was Phil that was telling me he heard a rumor that maybe Pinewood Atlanta might also be a possibility?
Oh, boy.
That's not a long flight.
To not come to Jamaica and check out some of the iconic locations that Bond has previously been shot in.
And yesterday, I went to a very special event.
Don't put it on a podcast.
Oh, no, man.
I'm here at Laughing Waters Beach.
I agree.
I will wear Ursula Anderson's bikini if I go here.
All right, we'll be back with the dogs.
Double as Doctor Nile's private layer.
Grab King.
Island and it's at this very location.
Okay, this is interesting.
You've got a pawn.
You can let it play.
Oh, wait, okay.
A press release for a new movie and they're doing a retrospective.
Like, come on, give us a little bit more.
Well, I get it, but it's also like, this is sort of functioning to me, like a 25th movie, Hardy Har.
That's what you call it, right?
Yeah.
Listen, this is kind of bond related, but I bought a polo shirt that's Terry Cloth.
For lounging around the water.
I'm off to a tropical place for.
a week or two for a wedding
and I'm gonna really
and soak up the sun and the best
bond way I can. I gotta say,
smart purchase, thanks.
Once again returned to this
retro-open island.
Look it, it's always powder blue.
I, look, live and let die.
Oh, stunning locations
and don't forget to keep your questions.
I like that movie more and more.
Yeah, every year.
Me too.
I'm reading that book right now.
It's the moment you guys have all been waiting.
Summer is great,
fucking humble brag.
You're reading two things at once?
No, I finish casino.
Oh, I am reading the script.
One's digital, one's...
Officially returning.
Officially returning.
Ray Fines.
Leis Adieu.
Naomi Harris.
Ben Wishaw.
Rory Keneer and Jeffrey Wright.
That is a strong...
By the way, I love the Roy Kineer.
It gets his own fucking title card.
Yeah.
On this little special.
I know.
I wonder if his part will be beefed up.
Oh, beef it.
Turning team.
And what about the new faces?
Well, we got a couple new faces.
Okay, pause for a second.
Happy to do it.
Are you, what do you think?
Jeffrey Wright's back.
We didn't know this would happen.
We didn't know this would happen.
We haven't seen it for two.
But here's the thing.
As a lover of the franchise, as we both are.
Yes.
Felix Leiter in a movie.
This is not a surprise to us.
No, it's not a surprise, but I don't think I expected it.
And then I didn't expect it to be part of the plot.
By the way, this appearance.
Makes him the most.
Put some over the top.
Right.
He's the number one Felix Lider now.
That's right.
You're right.
Pretty exciting.
Very exciting.
God, if they redid license to kill right after this.
Or just put that.
Just put the wedding in this movie?
No, just the shark thing because that comes from the book, live and live and die.
Oh, that's true.
Yeah.
Be interesting.
Billy Magnuson, Anna de Armis.
Okay, go back a little bit here.
So you want to look at the previous gent?
Okay.
Do you know the plot synopsis about this is not a story?
spoiler. This is what they announced. So Felix Leiter comes to get Bond out of retirement to help him find
a kidnapped scientist. That's basically all they say. It's a treacherous mission and such. So there's no,
no one knows who the scientist is. Could be any one of these people. Okay. Could even be Leis Sadoo,
I suppose. She's kind of a scientist. She's a lady of science. The implication is that Bond,
And because of the way Spector ended, is in Jamaica just live in his life with Madeline Swan.
But maybe not. Maybe she, I don't know.
I'll entertain that.
Sure.
Yeah, who knows?
Mad end.
Mad and Mad and.
Man.
Man.
Podcast.
Hey, guys.
We've got a new podcast for you to check out.
And it's from The Man himself, Jimmy Pardo.
Never Not Funny is Jimmy Pardo.
He's a true pioneer of podcasting, Matt.
He started back in 2006 with Never Not Funny.
I know it was one of the first podcasts of comedy that I got into.
That's right.
Each episode features Jimmy, his producer Matt Belknap, and their famous funny friends talking about their lives, their work and the world around them.
Yeah, it's basically had every comedy legend ever on the show.
People like John Malaney, Maria Bamford, Tignitaro, Camel Nogiani, Patton Oswald, Matt Myra.
Matt Goreley.
It's the best of the best.
But look, we get it.
Starting a new podcast is a big commitment.
That's why this is the perfect time to check out the Never Not Funny feed because starting this week they're releasing their game show spin-off in the Never Not Funny feed.
It's called Playing Games with Jimmy Pardo, and each episode features a celebrity co-host to help Jimmy Pitt three calling contestants against each other in a pop culture trivia battle.
This week, his co-host is Jamila Jamil from The Good Place.
And they've got some amazing guests lined up like John Hamm, Sarah Silverman.
I mean, come on, check it out.
Make sure to look up Never Not Funny in your podcast app and hit subscribe to hear new episodes of Never Not Funny and the game show spin-off playing games with Jimmy Pardo all in the same place.
That's funny. Never Not Funny.
Mad and Mad and, James Money Podcast.
But so the first one up of these new guys, Dalie Van Sala.
Yeah.
Now, he's a very fine-looking gentleman.
Do you think he's a henchman?
Yes.
He does look like he would be.
Swarthy.
Because we also know Rami Malik is.
the villain. Yeah. Yeah. He's swarthy. Actually, you know, what's interesting about Rami is he is reprising
as Freddie Mercury in this film. Freddie Mercury, in the Bond universe, lived, and has been making
music all this time. And he... He's a killer queen. He's a killer queen. Dynamite with a
laser beam. Guaranteed to blow your mind. But what he's been doing... He's been making all the
radios in London go gaga.
Someone's got to stop him.
Billy.
Billy Magnus.
Been in a few of Carrie Fukunaga's.
Looks like a douchebag.
So I'm putting him in the villain category also.
I think he's going to be good but actually bad.
Oh.
Like a double-edged innocent.
Oh, I don't care for that because it's always so surprising.
Yeah, that's true.
Why'd you do that?
That's what I always say.
All right.
Anna Day Armis, she's the Blade Runner 2049,
like virtual girl.
Okay.
She's very beautiful,
but I don't think she's a bond girl per se.
I think she's maybe the girlfriend of the villain.
Green eyes.
Just,
I just got,
Arias coming for you.
I just got lost in them.
Yeah.
So,
thank you.
Oh,
I love this guy.
Now, David Denick.
Densick,
Densick, rather.
I love this guy.
He's from Tinker Taylor Soldier Spy.
He's Swiss.
He just,
he plays
Toby Estherhaus and Tinker Taylor Soldier Spy,
and he's just got that, like,
kind of evil bureaucrat.
I don't know.
There's something about him.
He could be the scientist, maybe.
I like him as a scientist.
I'm on board with that.
Rami Mellick.
Lashana Lynch.
I just saw her in...
Captain Marvel?
Yeah.
She plays Rambo.
Rambo.
She plays Rambo.
Yeah.
They should reboot Rambo with her.
I enjoyed her in the film,
and I was like,
You know, it's funny about her in the movie.
I was watching Captain Martin was actually,
we saw it probably a week before the baby came.
According to my wife, Henry was really enjoying the movie.
Kicking, just having a great time in there.
But when I was watching the film and I saw her and then I saw her again,
I was like, where the hell did she come from?
Why have I not seen her in other things?
And then all of a sudden, she's in my favorite franchise.
Yeah.
She could be the scientist.
What if she is science?
Also,
Rami Malik could be the scientist and, you know, you think he's supposed to be this good scientist.
This good scientist.
I'm always a little, they also say that he has some, I think, dangerous new technology.
Oh, okay.
I'm very wary of technology in Bond films.
It tends to be very dated.
How dare you? No, it's always sun powered.
I know.
It always somehow uses the sun.
And a laser.
I was, we were watching a man with the golden gun yesterday.
my my father-in-law
it's very funny
to just sort of sedate him
all you have to do is put on an old James Bond movie
yeah same here and he refused he's like
he kept saying because the Thunderball poster's in the
in the and he's Israeli so he's got this thick Israeli accent
he keeps saying to me I'm like I'm like I'll put one on for you
what do you want he's like well which one do you have I'm like I have them all
which one do you have just like I have them all do you know who you're
talking to, sir?
Heard them all, whatever you need.
You let me know.
And he goes, wow.
He's like, I don't, I don't, I don't, the Thunderball.
He really looks his age in this.
So I'm like, so you don't want to watch Thunderball.
He's like, no.
Put on, uh, put on for Russia with love.
So I put it on.
He's watching it, really just enjoying it.
Uh, and then I put on.
And then the next day he's, he's.
like, he only live twice.
I'm like, okay.
And in my head, I'm like, wait a second, that's after Thunderball.
What does he, why does he think that's okay, but Thunderball?
He's too old.
Come to think of me, he's like, he's like, which one is the one with the play?
They replaced the pilots and the plane, the nuclear.
I'm like, well, that's two of them with Sean Connery.
It's never say never again.
And he's like, oh, let's watch Thunderball tomorrow.
It's like, okay.
And he, the first day he got here, I told him about the shoes.
Sean Connery's shoes from Never Say Never Again.
He wore them in the house all day.
Oh, my God.
He loved it.
That's wonderful.
So, Rami, hopefully, reprising his role as Killer Queen, Freddie Mercury.
To get to work.
Yeah, definitely.
Thank you so very much, Kerry.
Now, before we talk to Double VII himself, Daniel Craig,
let's have a little reminder of how he took on this iconic character and truly made it his own.
Oh, I like a little piece cut together.
A little bit of revenge for the death of someone he loves.
A little skyfall intro here.
That visuals.
How much do you know about fear?
What happened to the woman that played Severin?
She was really good.
She should be around more.
I agree. She probably is around in her native country.
France, I think.
Native France.
Dancing in a hurricane, Mr. Bond.
That might be my favorite line, other than no, Mr. Bond, I expect you to die.
You're a kite.
Dancing in a hurricane, Mr. Bond.
I mean, you think of villain lines.
I mean, that's not really villain, but, you know.
It was me.
Those are my eyeglasses.
Yeah.
The author of all you pain.
Oh, boy.
Oh, gosh.
This music is interesting.
The two survivors.
This is what you made us.
Such a waste.
Is this really what you want?
Always alone.
Love that shadow.
I'm going to see.
I understand double those have a very short life expectancy.
It's a shame, really.
She was meant for you, but she's been reassigned to 009.
But you can have this.
Does it do anything?
It tells the time.
I'd help with your punctuality issues.
Well, they're really giving, really giving Spectre some.
retire.
Well, you know why they have to do it in this montagee thing?
Because it's the only one that he's really at MI6 doing MI6y things.
Yeah.
Also, you got the Madeline Swan connection too.
Yeah.
Interesting about this Madeline Swan connection.
What will he be doing?
Do you think Blofeld will be back for this in any way?
Look, if the scientist is in charge of some sort of genetic bullshit,
Oh, boy.
You could absolutely have yourself a fucking Gustav Graves situation.
Oh, you can't.
You can't.
Why not?
I just can't.
I mean, look at Charles Gray.
Look at Charles Gray like putting people in mashed potatoes.
I need to know that I can trust you.
You don't have to worry about me.
This montage is amazing, though.
Every single shot just gives me the goodies.
Okay, Hugh, give me something.
That's more like it.
Oh.
Very little quantum of solace on this.
I saw a few, but yeah.
Telling you to take a desk, Joe.
Just the opposite.
Someone telling you to take a desk job, right?
That's the big, at the end of Skyfall.
He gets the bulldog from Amazon.
office that was glued together. He hated it. Yeah. It's still there. And she's like, maybe someone
telling you to take a desk job and he's like just the opposite. I think I'm telling me to never
leave the field. One movie later. I got to leave the field. Yeah.
So double something interesting. Lots to be done.
I'm coming with you.
Do you know what I'd love? What? I just thought of. What? Felix. At MI6. Talking to
M. Like walking past Moneypenny going into M's office.
Going like we need to find bond.
It could happen because, I mean, M is in this unless he's coming out in the field again.
Which I don't mind.
You know, I don't mind an M in the field.
That's true.
Whether in a sunken ship in his office.
Or in a back of a C-130 cargo plane.
Are you ready to get back to work?
With pleasure.
I would be asking so many questions of Broccoli and Wilson.
Right now. Would you look who it is? You can see why I'm extremely happy because I am joined by an incredibly talented group of actors and a filmmaker.
Bond has got some sneakers on. He's got sneakers. He is some white, I believe those are John Varvedos converse combos.
I think the only appropriately dressed person here is Lashana Lynch because she's got the baby blue. And you've got to respect the Bond Jamaica history.
That is so true. She's the only one that's surviving this movie.
As we all know, anyone who wears baby blue in a James Bond movie is usually the winner.
Yeah, that's right.
Of Anna Da Amos, Naomi Harris, Daniel Craig, Lashana Lynch, Leicud, and our director, Kerry Foucanaga.
Now, how are you guys, most importantly?
And Anna and Lashana, how does it feel to be here in Jamaica joining the cast of Bond 25?
Because you're the newbies.
How do you feel?
Yeah.
I've gone flat.
It's incredible.
being here, I think there's no better location.
I really enjoy her.
To me, I finally work with Carrie and repeat with Daniel, so it's very exciting.
And you know what?
There's worse places you can be than Jamaica, right?
Exactly.
I feel really happy because my family are from here.
So it feels nice to coincide your heritage and your work at the same time.
And then also work with a great filmmaker and a great cast.
Well, we're really happy to have you here.
We're going to catch up with the rest of you guys in a bit.
But first, we have a very special message.
I like the sneakers with the...
I called Rami Malek, who sadly could have been here.
A suit.
Oh, here we go.
Jealous, one bit that you're all in the absolutely stunning setting of Ian Fleming's iconic Caribbean home, Golden Eye on the island of Jamaica.
No, not at all.
I'm stuck here in New York in production, but I am very much looking forward to joining the whole cast and crew so very soon.
I promise you all, I will be making sure Mr. Bond does not have an easy.
ride of it in this, his 25th outing.
I can't wait to see you all soon.
He should say.
He should say, and I'm bringing my friend
and hold up the Oscar.
And that white cat.
I'm holding up, pause.
It's not just his eyes.
He's an odd fellow.
Wait, what is you mean?
Like, he's just his speech.
His physicality?
Yeah, just his like delivery.
His energy.
Yeah, it's less, it's not even odd to me.
It's, oh, I find it, um, how is the word?
It's, it's, it's, what is the, it's not charisma, but it's very close.
It's like, I'm, he's, he's, I'm fascinated by him whenever I'm watching him do something.
He's charismatic and off-putting at the same time.
He's dangerous.
He's a little dangerous, little menacing, little mysterious.
He just got a lot sexier, man.
Yeah, that's why I think he's good casting.
Now, he also got interviewed after this at one point.
point and someone asked him what's...
He spoiled something, didn't me?
No.
I thought there was an interview
where he accidentally spoiled something.
I don't think so.
Well, he...
It was a fake spoiler because they asked him
what his favorite Bond movies are
and he's a Doctor No and Man with the Golden Gun,
which also makes me think, like,
have you seen a Bond movie?
But then CBS did a story
where they were reshooting Doctor No.
They somehow misprinted that,
and that was on the wire for a while.
Oh, I see, because of the fact
they were in the location of Dr. Now.
Or that he was playing Doctor No.
Dr. No is what he, he never said that, but that's what CBS printed.
What if that's the scientist they're looking for?
Dr. No.
Hmm.
Well, we'll see.
Could be Dr. No all over again.
God damn it.
What if she's quarrelette?
Okay, let's do this.
And then Anna de Armas is, um, so Madeline Swan is Sylvia Trench.
Right.
Anna de Armis is Ursula Andrus.
Yeah.
Money pennies there.
Yeah.
And you need a quarrel.
David Densick is Harvey Dent.
Professor Dent.
Harvey Dent is two-face.
Well, he's both.
And then you've got Felix Lider, of course.
I mean, and Dr. Now, Ronnie Malick.
There you go.
Now, let's say, there's always been a theory that they're remaking on Her Majesty's Secret Service.
Does this time out with that?
So you've got...
There's no father.
you really to have a Tracy
her father's literally dead
he's dancing in a hurricane
he's dancing in the great hurricane
beyond yeah he's having his brains
eaten by crows
on close
they cut back he's like
oh I didn't quite get it
all right
and then he just gets up
Daniel how did that make you feel
just a bit right
just a bit
Rami Malet
We've had loads of questions come through.
It's like he's never seen him before in his life.
That's the first time he's seen him do anything.
That's his honest reaction.
Using the hashtag Bond 25.
Daniel, first question is for you.
It's from Brian from the US.
He says, how do you think the appeal of James Bond has lasted through the 25 movies?
Enough with these questions.
Hi, Brian.
Brian?
He took the time.
He took the time to say hi to Brian.
You had that floor, that forum, Brian?
What a gentleman.
I love Daniel Craig.
I think consistency and the movies have been an event.
I mean, I think for myself, I remember going to see them as a kid and they were, they were a moment.
I think he's wearing my watch.
No, I think he's wearing the planet ocean.
During my tenure, I've just tried to sort of continue that tradition of just making movies that stand out and are different from the other movies out there.
there's the
enduring
I think
a theme of
Ian Fleming
who wrote all the books here
I mean the books sort of set it up
and the early movies with Sean Connery
were just so amazing
I think it's just
How many times does he ever say this?
So many things
Unfortunately we've only got a little bit of time
so I'm going to get more as many questions as I can
Hello to Steve
Well that's what you were doing
Naomi Harris
Here's the problem.
I've done these full cast interviews
And it's so hard to bounce around
In a way that you feel like you're
Giving everybody the time that you need to give
Like you do something and you know like oh everyone's gonna want to hear from Daniel Craig right
But if you're asking Daniel Craig too many questions
You start immediately to feel like being a dick to everyone to my left
Yeah I've done a few of these two days too as a
Moderator that's what you're saying
Yeah, it is hard.
Look, lots of things to talk about.
Steve, from Facebook, wanted to know.
Naomi, what was your first thought when you realized you were going to be in a Bond movie?
Because this is your third outing, On 25, right?
All I thought about was my family, actually.
I just thought, oh, my God, they're going to go crazy.
And they did go crazy.
They threw a massive party, and it's been, like, a whole celebration.
It's not like I just got the job, but it's like the whole family's got the job.
And they're all so excited about it.
They're all huge Bond fans.
So it means so much to all of us.
Are you getting constant WhatsApp messages from like your relatives like,
oh, I saw.
They're all so excited because it's like it's happening here.
You know, I'm Jamaican, so that's where my roots are from.
So it's amazing there's being launched here.
It's so exciting.
A beautiful homecoming.
Yeah.
To Cornel from the Netherlands, he wanted to know from all of you,
which cast member is the most excited to be in Bond 25 if it's a competition at Leah.
That's funny.
Okay, so I have to tell myself.
No, no, I'm very, very happy to be back.
And, yeah, I can't wait to start.
I never realized you.
Hello to Steve as well on Facebook.
Steve's back, he loves us.
He says, he really, he's obsessed.
He says, to know me, in what way will Moneypenny's role be different than the previous
films?
And will you be back from the office or out in the field with Bond?
Oh, Steve, I can't say.
That's way too much information.
unfortunately. So he'll just have to wait and see.
Sorry. That's what I can give away.
Everybody's really sticking to their word.
I know I see.
Anna, when you first found out you got this role,
how did you try and prepare?
I haven't started preparing yet.
I don't know. Is that going to go?
Yeah.
Any suggestions?
I just heard about this today.
Exactly. Yeah. The best way to prefer for anything.
Kerry, Ryan on Instagram wanted to know, what do you hope to bring to the film as a director?
Good question.
Yeah.
Let's hear it.
Who asked that question?
It was Ryan Proctor on Instagram.
Ryan Proctor on Instagram.
Ryan, Ryan.
That's a tough question because, again, I have to sell myself, I guess, right?
I just think, in a lot of ways, I think.
Vince Vaughn and Johnny Depp had a baby.
I can't say this, but Daniel is my...
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Daniel is his favorite, I think he's going to say, yeah.
Favorite Bond.
And I just want to, you know, I want to continue that.
I'm going to give you a mic just to react to that.
Really?
Yeah.
I want to make sure, you know, this run of films has been fantastic.
Have a really great next chapter.
And just keep up into ante.
He didn't say last.
Whoever's next has a harder job.
No pressure to whoever's next.
Daniel, the final question for you from your fellow, Daniel, in USA.
and he says what is your favorite bond gadget or car it's a very pressing question
hello daniel um the db5 is he took the mic down i think it's still it's the classic
it's uh if i had the money i'd buy one that's the fast that's the fact if i had the money
not only do you have the money you can probably get a good discount they give you
okay i see as you can see i don't speak car so you're here to learn from you that was a message
She was just too asked in Martin if they're listening.
Got it.
Obviously, other car brands are available.
Now, unfortunately, that's all the time we have got for you guys.
Unbelievable.
That was all the time they've got.
These things, this is kept very tight.
That was real fluffy.
That was very fluffy.
I prefer the ones where they do a big presentation, like, they're all sitting at a table and they say,
and now coming out.
Yes.
But I guess a lot of them aren't shooting in Jamaica, so why would they do it there?
Like, they're not going to fly all those other people in if their roles.
Right.
I mean, if Rami's in.
New York shooting Mr. Robot.
It's interesting.
Felix Leiter is not there, but I know he shoots in Jamaica.
They've released some pictures.
Maybe Jeffrey is busy working on his no leg situation.
Thank you very much for joining me in Fleming's Villa.
And we look forward to catching up with you over the coming months when you get to filming
this movie.
And unfortunately, that's all the time we have for you guys as well.
A big thank you to everybody.
who took part by sending in their questions to hashtag bond 25 and remember if you are watching
in Norway and in Italy do look out for all of these not filming near you very soon. I want to say
a massive thank you for our producing team Michael G Wilson and Barbara Broccoli and of course
our incredible cast and filmmakers Carrie Fukenaga, Lesha-Doo, Leshanna Lynch, Daniel Craig,
Naomi Harris and Anna da Armours. Now do make sure you keep an eye on 207.com and all of our
social media that's on YouTube, Facebook,
Twitsaw.
Well, I mean, look, it is what it is.
So, thoughts, Matt?
Whoa.
Sorry, didn't mean to click on that, the final Spector trailer.
That's the last one that they have on there.
What are my thoughts on that?
I'm excited, you know?
I'm excited about the film.
I'm really looking forward to finally getting this Bond movie.
I know that Spector, you know, didn't come up that long.
long ago, but it also feels like it came out a real long time ago.
It's a while ago. Here's the official synopsis.
Okay.
Give it to me.
Hold on now. I set that up.
Give it to me straight, Daddy.
What?
Oh, yeah. I love that they put a happy birthday to George Lazenby video up.
The film finds Bond retired from active service in MI6 in Jamaica, where his old CIA friend,
Felix Leiter, draws him back into action after a scientist is kidnapped and a new villain
and with deadly new technology surfaces.
Filming locations include Jamaica, London, Norway, and Italy.
There was a different one.
I remember it had the word treacherous in it.
I do wonder what...
Yeah, go ahead.
Bond has left active service and is enjoying a tranquil life in Jamaica
underneath the mango tree.
I added that.
His piece is short-lived.
When his old friend Felix Lider from the CIA turns up asking for help, the mission to rescue a kidnapped scientist turns out to be a far more treacherous than expected, leading Bond into the trail of a mysterious villain armed with a dangerous new technology.
Hmm.
What do you think is, uh...
Oh, I see why they had to get out of there quickly.
They had to then do their fucking Good Morning America.
Wait, what?
Oh, yeah.
I saw Romney Malik here yesterday.
That was just moments after the announcement.
He's the new villain.
And this morning we're going to hear from director, Sheri Fulcunaga, Moneypenny.
Do they say it's your last film every time?
Yeah.
No, no.
They say every time I'd do it.
They said after a casino.
This is your last one.
Well, maybe.
You're not on my time.
This is what we should have watched.
Well, we are now.
Single.
The cast is about to start shooting on location in Jamaica,
where Ian Fleming created Bond more than 65 years ago.
It's also where we'll find Bond at the start of the new film.
I know where that B-roll came from.
stunning location.
And it's also where my roots are from as well.
You know, my family are part Jamaican.
So it means a great deal to me to be here.
It's been 13 years since Craig became the world's most famous spy in Casino Royale.
Did he say 15 years?
13, said.
Coming on to something like this changes your life in ways that you could just never guess.
Most of it for the better, I mean, for sure.
I knew it was too early to promote you.
Well, I understand double O's have a very short life expectancy.
I've always watched Bond movies since I was a kid, so I kind of knew what was going on.
But when I took it on, I just read every book, I watched every movie.
I sort of took everything I couldn't sort of tried to absorb as much as I could.
James Bond.
Sort of realizing that I didn't want to kind of repeat what I'd gone before.
And I just thought, well, I know how to act, I think, so I'll just do that and feel for it will come through.
But I mean, I didn't, I mean, I didn't kind of have a kind of grand plan.
And it worked.
Craig brought emotional depth humanity to the character.
And under his reign, the legendary first of the legendary first of the story, the legendary,
franchise has become a box office juggernaut.
What took you so long?
Damn right it has.
The emotional complexity and the vulnerability
through the last four films.
There's a humanity there that I think
is a lot different than previous iterations of the character.
I agree.
I love being part of this franchise.
It's unlike any other.
Ultimately, it's a family.
Are you ready to get back to work?
With pleasure.
It's really genuinely massively exciting.
There's been a good break, and I needed a break,
and it feels like.
It was actually the right time to come back and do it.
Okay, Hugh, give you something.
I'm kind of nervous, but in a really good way.
It's more like it.
You know it's going to be great.
It's so good.
Is that what we sound like?
Morning banter.
I love it.
Well, that was a little more interesting.
The audio was certainly better.
Final thoughts.
Final predictions.
I don't think we're going to see Blofeld in this.
even in a different form or a different actor,
that's just a guess.
Yeah.
Do you think Madeline Swan is going to live or die?
I think it truly depends on what they're planning on doing with the character of James Bond.
Well, what do you think they're planning on?
What are our options?
I am, I don't, I worry that they're going to try to close this Bond out
while still being ready to give out another Bond movie, but to a different character.
Yeah, I think they're probably going to.
James Bond.
I think this is going to have a work.
I think there's a reason why it's gone through.
I know the scripts often go through a few ringers,
but I think it may be that they're looking for a way to really have a good film,
but also tie it up a bit.
Yeah.
So if they are going to like wrap him up,
it's the whole question of like,
does this bond get an ending,
get a fairy tale ending?
Or does this bond?
is this bond cursed to live in perpetual torture?
Like the ending of Casino Royale.
Yeah.
Which is interesting because we know now, I think, fairly accurately, that Danny Boyle wanted to kill Bond.
And that was the problem. Craig and the producers didn't want that to happen.
But that at least tells you that they were looking to wrap it up in some way.
Yeah.
Also, it's like big swing for a director of James Bond to come in and go, I want to kill James Bond.
Yeah.
Let me come in.
Do you understand that when I write you a check?
You know what pays for this?
James Bond.
So you cannot kill James Bond.
I mean, that's a big, crazy swing.
I'm glad that it was him who wanted to do that, not them.
Because my worry was it was Barbara and Daniel.
Right.
Or Michael and Daniel.
Yeah.
Any combination of those people and Daniel.
That's right.
Well.
So look, I mean, Jamaica, exciting.
I'm excited about it.
Will it be the, the, the, the, the,
I mean, I just feel like since...
I guess if you look at the four films we've gotten from Daniel Craig,
two of them are really great.
Sky Fall and Casino Real.
So he's batting 500.
And I don't even...
I, as you know, we both, I especially like Quantum of Salas,
and I don't hate Spector.
It's okay.
Yeah.
But that's above average.
I think he's got...
I think his films are at a B-plus, A-M-My-
minus on average.
Yeah.
I mean,
if you were truly,
if you were truly to look at like all of the films under each bond,
I mean,
there's some real clunkers in there,
but they aren't clunkers because they are the thing we love.
Yeah,
that's right.
You know?
But I think even his clunkers are at least fairly consistent.
I find newer clunkers.
I find clunkers made in the last 20 years to be much harder to watch than clunkers made
in the 70s.
Give them some time.
That's why Dian other days
Looking so good
It's coming up on 20
Oh, I can't wait to somehow
Figure out why you guys think it's somehow getting better
