Starting point is 00:00:04 It's fine. Or something. It's fine, cowpoke. Don't you worry about none of this stuff around here now? Hey Dutch, want to eat my ass, Cowpoke? Hey, Cowpoke! Good morning, evening or night. Humans and beings.
Starting point is 00:00:27 Humans and bean. Humans who enjoy beans, which is all of you. Everyone, including Angry Joe. He loves them more. than anybody. I'm Alex, joined by Jim. Yeah, what's up? And this is Brocast
Starting point is 00:00:44 Season 7, episode 29, I believe. What? What? Excuse me? Are you being serious at the moment? You being serious right now? Yeah, man. Dude, I feel a little bit crazy.
Starting point is 00:01:01 But you won't find out why until next week, I guess. I guess you won't find out until next year. some like Christopher Nolan nonlinear storytelling right now which won't make sense until you've seen the next episode
Starting point is 00:01:13 because we just have lots going on at the moment lots to coordinate around so that's why things are a little bit non-normal perhaps yeah
Starting point is 00:01:23 you know what speaking of Christopher Nolan quick yeah I tried to go and see the Odyssey yesterday what do you mean you tried literally every showing
Starting point is 00:01:34 everywhere, fully booked. Really? Yeah. Wow. No, that's not true. Specifically, specifically IMAX. Oh, yeah, yeah. Fully booked.
Starting point is 00:01:48 And I want to see it in IMAX. I got my ticket like a month before. Yeah. You know, there's only three places in the entire UK that are showing it at the proper aspect ratio. Really? Two of them are in London, one's in Manchester. Yeah. Really annoying.
Starting point is 00:02:01 That's insane. Yeah. And good luck getting the, 70 mil tickets. Like if you think getting them and just like any IMAX is hard, you're just not gonna be able to do it. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:02:12 Until like October or something. That's kind of BS. Yeah, yeah, it's kind of annoying. But I'm glad the film's doing well. People are calling it like the first pay to win movie. Because you actually get to see the whole movie if you pay more. So, yeah, so,
Starting point is 00:02:30 yeah, before we get too deep into the show, let me shout out of those Jiam Media Patrions. that make the show an audio version possible. They get the raw, unfielded MP3 over there, ad-free. And you can put it on your host of choice. And I think Spotify's like working now. So that's cool. All the episodes are on there.
Starting point is 00:02:50 So no more complaining unless it breaks. In which case, please complain. So anyway I can kind of keep track of what's happening at times. That's not all, though. You get your patron names read out in the first or second week of each month. if you're a dibeteer above. And that's also somehow not all. There's more on offer.
Starting point is 00:03:09 As I want my cubby. You get you after hours, supplementary weekly show of variety content over there. People are constantly surprised how much is on there. We did the best underrated, best slash underrated jar memes. The Rupert Low and Wanker Joe. Take down. the worst jar memes video Two White Boys Debates,
Starting point is 00:03:38 Sinners, Jar Radio, Spies and Disguise Explained, just went public. I put that up. Nice. Today as a recording, which is a little treat for the lovelies out there. It's like you've been a good dog
Starting point is 00:03:49 who's giving me your poor. Yeah, that's good thing. Sit! Poor! And last minute, at least, the jar media group chat. It's a group chat where I get suggestions for the question stuff towards the end
Starting point is 00:04:02 and housekeeping too if it's relevant. Oh, I can't help but rob my savoury little tummy. Are you digesting? I am digesting. I'm digesting a lot of things. Including Wendy's. You had Wendy's? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:04:19 How was it? It was fine. It was a bit of the Mackeys. Yeah, okay. You have unlimited soda refill? Yeah. That's a biggie. You've got to try Popeyes, dude.
Starting point is 00:04:30 I have. after the party we went to. That's what I got. You got Popeyes? Yeah, I got popped eyes. What do you think of Popeyes? It was good. It was like popped eyes.
Starting point is 00:04:46 Yeah, it's good chicken. It's good chicken. It was like just popped eyes is the way I like it. Yeah, it's just, yeah, good chicken. Yeah, we can do a little bit of housekeeping here, not very long, long. It's going to be a weird episode of here because just with timing stuff, She's going to disappear at the halfway point And I'm going to change clothes, hopefully
Starting point is 00:05:05 But On a different day Yeah, there's stuff going on We got these chicken jockeys Just going crazy all over the place Oh my God There's so much upkeep They're out of control
Starting point is 00:05:16 Oh my God These chicken jockeys are just too much man So Jane Cotton can start us off here Yeah If you hate everything Doesn't that mean you hate your shelf? Yeah, there's a lot of shelving issues That I have
Starting point is 00:05:28 And it makes me very, very upset Yeah, right B, B, B, b, b, b, oinks says, Three Lions in the Zoo Never Stop Me Screaming. Yeah. Is this like code they're getting it? Nah.
Starting point is 00:05:44 Nah. It should be three because they were three lions. Oh, like the football that went very well for us of yore. We got clapped by the fascists. Not the first time, Zona. This reminds me in 1940s show. J.S. says,
Starting point is 00:06:04 I spent a three-month period during 2022 in an LSD-induced psychosis freaking out about the AI replacement conspiracy, a second industrial revolution and Luddite rejection of tech, and a billionaire class takeover. Now the cast is finally glancing at the same crazy schizo paranoia
Starting point is 00:06:22 four years ago. LSD episode went. That would be crazy. Could you remember? Imagine. You're allowed to do that? Also, it lasts like so long. It would be like a really long unhinged podcast. We were just like looking into the camera lens like,
Starting point is 00:06:39 I think there's a matrix in there that's kind of changing. Is that you in there, Peter? Genetta Kavik says, I can't be the only one who didn't realize that Jim and Alex are brothers. What the hell? No, we're not. We're something else entirely. We're humans born fresh
Starting point is 00:07:01 We're humans born fresh And let's just say I'm a little bit more like the Joker And you're a little bit more like Batman So I was watching The Dark Night before he came here Yeah You're watching it with Aggie Yeah and he was eating his carrots He's a
Starting point is 00:07:18 Augie loves the Joker Yeah he's way too into the Joker He's like transfix whenever he's on screen Yeah panting thing Yeah And not just because he finds Heath Ledger hot. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:07:32 Especially as the Joker. I had no idea Heath Ledger was hot until I saw him without the mask. Nobody cared who I was until I took off my mask. There's this video going around of like, I don't know what it's from. It's like, uh, you know, every video now is just someone with a microphone going up to strangers and interviewing. Yeah, yeah, yeah. It was one of those of like this woman going up to a guy who goes on this fucking unhinged round. talking about like Jordan Peterson's Rules for Life and the Joker and this kind of shit.
Starting point is 00:08:05 Like it is a, it's not a violent world per se every day, but you never know. One person like the Joker, he could be having a bad day and then that's it. And yeah, he was like, yeah, the Joker, he's kind of like a war veteran who's lost it. Yeah, I was trying to work out that like theory about the Dark Night. The Heath Ledger's Joker, he's most likely a soldier that was betrayed. Because when he talks about it, like, when, say, a truckload of soldiers would be blown up, nobody panics because it's all part of the plan. But if I say one measly little mayor is going to die, everyone loses their minds because it's not part of the plan.
Starting point is 00:08:42 He was a soldier that was betrayed, and he just went, you know what, I've had enough. Because I've heard that before. Yeah, I'd heard it before, too. It's like a fan theory. It kind of makes sense, because the whole movie is just... so embodied with post like 9-11 Oh god yeah
Starting point is 00:08:59 politics but Yeah Did you have any thoughts on it You wanted to spit Spit out there Just that it is way more impacted By post 9-11 stuff Than I remembered
Starting point is 00:09:12 Yeah Like it's So much like the imagery And the Yeah yeah The story even Yeah Um
Starting point is 00:09:20 And other than that The Batman is better Um Yes Same old, really. Other than the, other than what, it being
Starting point is 00:09:31 9-11? No, the movie The Batman is better than the time. I understood that bit, but you were like, other than that, that being what,
Starting point is 00:09:41 9-11, you liked that, did you? Um, no, because some of it is like, ooh, you know?
Starting point is 00:09:50 Yeah, but then it has aura. It does have mad aura. Um, the whole, like car chasing is fucking so sick um yeah he's he's a weird one nolan because like to this day his like fist of cuff action direction is pretty bad yeah but when there's like a vehicle or something like that he loves fast and furious right yeah yeah yeah because it in tannet
Starting point is 00:10:13 that's like the highlight of the movie is that yeah exactly the plane and stuff yeah the plane's cool as well yeah yeah i guess he needs like a vehicle or his cycling That's also one of the best bits of interstellar. Yeah, the vehicle. When he's got to like match the rotation. Yeah. The bay blades in space. Yeah, I fucking love bayblades in space.
Starting point is 00:10:38 I know it's fucking lads, fucking lads, lad, lad, son. And the last one for housekeeping is from Super Super Supernova who says, The Little Hair on the Cable, gher. Because last episode was a kind of unhinged episode we recorded at like half seven a. in the morning, which has never been done before. And there was a fan, like doing what a fan does,
Starting point is 00:11:03 like moving air around. Yeah. And there was a Paisley hair kind of like on it stuck on one of the cables. So every time there was a rotation, it was going like a little worm. And that, all the comments were just about that one hair. Nice one, Paisley. Ruined another
Starting point is 00:11:18 fucking episode. It's like, gosh, you just can't get a win. Damn dog. It's like, please. Hello. Yeah. Hello. What a fucking dog. Do you bide?
Starting point is 00:11:29 Do you bloody bide? Keep your hairs in, lass. Yeah. Christ. So a lot's been happening. A lot's been happening for sure. Really? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:11:39 Too much, in fact. We went to a costume party. Did we? Yeah. But I was crazy frog and you were Elvis. Which was pretty fire. Yeah. The costume prompt was sex offenders.
Starting point is 00:12:00 Yeah. So I was like, oh, let me be crazy, frog. I want to streak. Yeah. Yeah. I had my little winky out. Yeah, you did. And it was,
Starting point is 00:12:09 this is now two costume parties I've been to in London, both coincidentally being frogs. I was Kermit before. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Which I think that was a whole cast episode, wasn't it? I was Kermit and was doing the voice for as long as I could. Yeah, people loved that. from memory but watching like because I obviously had to get there going through
Starting point is 00:12:31 central London taking a lot of public transport oh yeah um and gauging the reactions of like Kermit compared to Crazy Frog was quite interesting because Kermit was just nothing but love you know yeah yeah yeah just like everyone's like hell is Kermit nice hell yeah then when people see crazy frog they get on edge reasonably so. I'm just about to send you an image that I managed to snap from that day. Yeah? Yeah. There was some pretty crazy moments.
Starting point is 00:13:07 There you go. Oh, get it? Crazy? It was pretty crazy. I kept saying, when people were asking who I am, I was like, I'm normal frog. I mean crazy frog. Yeah, yeah. Oh, that's good. Yeah. That's awesome.
Starting point is 00:13:23 Out in the wild. And that guy, I'll put this picture in the episode. I was in like Sainsbury's buying, I was only buying blue drinks. Yeah. So I got like a blue buzz ball. And like it's fucking disgusting like blue raspberry like a vodka drink or whatever. Yeah, yeah. I'll stand on theme, you know.
Starting point is 00:13:45 You were. You stuck to it. You were the life of the party. Life for the party. Mm-hmm. I could have almost died. Yeah, I've never really experienced that before Like just having that freedom
Starting point is 00:14:00 It kind of makes me want to just be crazy frog at all times Right, right right I had a completely blue face in all of it Yeah, you become invisible Yeah, become invisible So I just came in and started it going Ring ding ding, like doing that old bike shit Yeah
Starting point is 00:14:16 And yeah, it just felt right, you know It was cool But yeah, going through London walking around everyone just kind of Londoners they're weird bunch they're like some of them are playful once you've gotten
Starting point is 00:14:33 to a certain time in the day yeah any time before then it's like all serious business and it's like oh this hilarious blue man is just pissing me off yeah like I'm not like being a dick to anyone I'm just like sat on a train
Starting point is 00:14:48 yeah yeah and every anytime someone would lock eyes with me I'd do something crazy like a You know, for those listening, that was the rock on hands and a little, like, la, with the tongue, I think. Quite aggressive. I even caught someone secretly filming me when I was standing on the street. Yeah, check out on TikTok for... Yeah, that would be awesome if that's just out on somewhere.
Starting point is 00:15:12 Yeah, so that was pretty cool. I definitely got, when I locked, it was like a woman who was in a queue of traffic. who was in the passenger seat who had her phone and was filming me I don't know for how long because it took me a while to spot her then I spotted her and then did something crazy so
Starting point is 00:15:35 Did you feel like nobody cared who you were until you put on the frog? Kind of yeah Nobody cared who I was I weirdly felt like I could be more of myself than ever before Yeah right no I know what you mean And there was that awesome moment when we were we took the elevator four of us in costume and just some dude from another floor like got in
Starting point is 00:15:57 just completely ignored everyone like didn't like because if that was me coming in i'd be like that's funny it'll be like yeah yeah yeah yeah well smile or something you know like in spider man too when he's in the elevator yeah yeah yeah nice crazy frog epic man yeah yeah yeah awesome Elvis hair man yeah um that was the more upsetting thing that i didn't get a compliment He actually kind of looked like scared Yeah Which just made it funny Yeah
Starting point is 00:16:26 And then the elevator jet It was like the longest elevator jam Yeah That was cool There was lots of comedy moments for sure Which you need to make London bearable Yes You know
Starting point is 00:16:38 You need someone dressed up crazy Doing crazy shit Yeah Because there are people that didn't even know Who I was before I donned the full thing in the street we're just like yeah yeah
Starting point is 00:16:51 singing like I'm blue dabberdy so that's quite nice to get some joy out of people for once in London miserable fucks yeah maybe goes a chicken jockey next time
Starting point is 00:17:04 that's not a bad idea yeah is there a frog I could be the frog from Minecraft there's a frog isn't that maybe the chicken jockey I could be Mario frog version I know I feel
Starting point is 00:17:15 the frog thing needs to continue Yeah, it has sort of become your thing Yeah Or chicken jockey, you could I feel like you could do a good chicken jockey Nah, I'm not built for chicken jockey I don't know the legs for it Ricken rocky
Starting point is 00:17:31 Ricken rocky Um Fuck man I saw a fat boy slim Yesterday Why? Why? Embarrassing much
Starting point is 00:17:43 Fat boy Slim It was um Sheffield tram lines They call it We're all up north I did Oh, but boom boom I was, yeah
Starting point is 00:17:56 I'm in my mom's car Brum brum brum Everyone's just so like friendly up there Yeah yeah It's like They don't feel like they want you to die By interacting with you We live in the worst part of the world
Starting point is 00:18:07 Possible Think about it Actually think about it for three and a half minutes One Two Two Three three and a half.
Starting point is 00:18:18 No. Yeah, so like I'm out of everyone who was playing that I was there for fat boy. Yeah. I knew he would deliver
Starting point is 00:18:26 the goods. Were there any little trinkets of golden goodness though? Before it was Kaiser Chiefs, which was like an nostalgic thing for me.
Starting point is 00:18:35 Yeah. They're not like someone where, even if I saw a discounted record, I'd buy it. Like I'd like, I don't think I would. Yeah. Um,
Starting point is 00:18:43 but they were on before Fat Boy, so it was kind of like, okay. Sure. You know? Yeah. They're here. Did you start shaking it?
Starting point is 00:18:52 Uh, for Fat Boy, I did. I was more like toe tapping for the Kaiser chief. Okay, yeah. No valid. We are the angry mob. Then I started getting scared during We Are the Angry Mob. Because it was kind of... Okay, so it's an angry mob.
Starting point is 00:19:04 Yeah. I was like, this is too scary to be in crowdful. Okay. Yeah. Yeah. This is... I went on a carousel. Too threatening.
Starting point is 00:19:14 During Kaiser Chiefs, I went on a carousel. Yeah. Well, like on a horse. Oh shit, no, not a carous. The other one. It's a different circle but vertical. Oh, shit. Where you like stand up and he goes around.
Starting point is 00:19:26 Nah. No. No, you know, a merry-go-round. Is that what it's called? That's the same thing as a carouser. What the fuck is it called? You're in like a bucket. Oh, a fucking, um... Like the sun's eye.
Starting point is 00:19:43 Yeah, like the sun's eye. Yeah. But not that. What's the sun's eye? What are they actually called? I can't believe I'm blanking what the fuck this is called. Oh my god. Fairground ride. I've got a... I'm cooked man. What the fuck are they called? I'm fucking shot.
Starting point is 00:19:59 I am as well, though. Carousel? Is it a carousel? Carousels go this way, right? Yeah, you're right. And that's what I just said. Yeah. Oh my fucking god, they're like buckets. You're in like a bucket and it goes in a circle. And it goes up and down. Yeah, you go up and down. Is it a ferris wheel? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:20:18 Yes. Fuck me, dude. Jesus. That was... How did two people forget ferris wheel? That's how like, how much whimsy has been, like, stripped from us, or we can't even remember what a fucking ferris wheel is. But it was whimsical to be on and listen to the Kaiser Chiefs swell on a ferris wheel.
Starting point is 00:20:35 We are the angry mob. We ride the ferris wheel every day. Yeah, I felt like SpongeBob. Yeah, it was cool. It was kind of badass. Yeah, Ferris wheel is a kind of. of badass but they could go a bit faster. Yeah, it was, I'm scared of heights, so it was like the right level.
Starting point is 00:20:54 Really? No, you're not. I am. No, you're not. What do you mean? You're not me, I'm me, you're you. Think about that. But you love like roller coasters and shit. I haven't been on one in a long time. I haven't been on one in three years.
Starting point is 00:21:11 I went on one last year and it was fucking awesome. You went to Thought Park, right? I went to Oop. Rorpington Park of things Oh I don't mind of it Orpington Park if you don't say that Oh Jesus Christ I've got fucking issues today
Starting point is 00:21:26 And I'm not sure why I had a tepaniaki fucking grill A little cheeky night Fucking grill last night I love a tepaniaki Just at home At mummy and daddy's home
Starting point is 00:21:37 Because they're out They're away And I've got to look after the dogs So I'm having a little Doggy daycare sort of situation I have a tepaniaki grill fucking put some mixed seafood on there a fucking fucking shalach
Starting point is 00:21:48 shaman lad and it was fucking fucking belting breath it was some of the most delicious food can possibly be like get yourselves
Starting point is 00:21:59 a tap and yaki grill yeah they are good like peppers just peppers like sliced peppers put them on there they retain the yeah
Starting point is 00:22:07 but they also are hot and you can like char the outside of the art that you inside of hair I like a good charring A decent kind of charing Do you know, it reminds me of Do you know, it reminds me of
Starting point is 00:22:19 You know, it reminds me of Charazard Oh, because he, I never thought about that because he chars things That's pretty clever, dude Hey, nice one, Pokemon, you did well Those Japanese know how to design Cool, cute creatures
Starting point is 00:22:33 Hey, nice one Charzard, You're fucking so beautiful Um, I want to chuck in a couple of questions In an unconventional kind of way Yeah, do it Because for the second half, Jim's not going to be here. So the ones that are specifically for you, I need to like... Me?
Starting point is 00:22:51 Do right now. Like this one from Scoomb. If you want to leave questions for this, head over to the J-Media subreddit. Jamie, it's July 20th, 2020, and you're sitting in the podcast room filming episode 212, Pit Pop Poe. Alex has just unveiled Ruby Doe for the first time. and now it's the quickfire question segment how do you answer the following questions so I've got the questions that were asked to you in 2020
Starting point is 00:23:20 and the original answers so you can see how much you've changed yeah interesting first question was thoughts on the uncharted movie um decent you said gonna be shit okay I was I was wrong on that one guys sorry
Starting point is 00:23:38 okay which member of the cast would be best care for a lone monkey Who do, who? For a lone monkey? Yeah. Uh, you? That's what you said before as well.
Starting point is 00:23:55 Okay. Yeah. How do you feel about the handling of the coronavirus in the UK? Abysmal. Last time you said shit. Okay. So your vocabulary has gotten better. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:24:09 More syllables. If everyone had the same skin color, what color would you prefer everyone to have? Green. you said i don't give a shit last time okay so that's cool that's an improvement do you still that's a de-provement i'm more racist now i'm more i'm a green supremacist a frog supremacist yeah same do you still wear your pair of shreddies no they would never mind yeah i don't know who i think james actually took them because he thought he could get use out of
Starting point is 00:24:42 them he does have poo problems that go more than your average so last time you said my pair is sitting in my drawer I don't have a pair what the fuck was I talking about maybe you're joking right um this is funny especially now Kanye has invited you to his inauguration in Washington to perform one of his songs what do you pick
Starting point is 00:25:06 oh life of the party you said drunk and hot girls that's a good answer to be fair man I've lost it, huh? I used to be on the fucking cut an edge. If you could be any celebrity for a day, who would it be? The rock.
Starting point is 00:25:28 Okay. Well, in 2020, you said Joe Rogan so you could shout out Jha. Oh, okay. Clever. Yeah, see, I was cutting edge back then. I was fucking I was wise, I was sharp, but I was developing type two diabetes.
Starting point is 00:25:47 And lastly, what would the cast of Madagascar be as prescription drugs? Uh... What are you feeling? Melman would be Zanis. Uh... Okay, you gave a different answer, but no, please. He'd be Zanis. Melman would be Zanis.
Starting point is 00:26:13 Um... I think, like, King Julian would be morphine. Mm-hmm. I think Alex the lion could be like, um, uh, like just fucking penicillin. Mm. Do you know what I mean? He's like the normal. Just normal lifesaver.
Starting point is 00:26:36 Default. Gloria Ozampic. Um, and Marty. Let's, what's his thing? Marty's antidepressants. Damn, okay. Well, you said Gloria is. liquid night nurse
Starting point is 00:26:54 Melman is tablet night nurse That's fucking lazy And Alex or Marty are Adderall Okay I didn't know as many prescription drugs At the time of this Yeah I prefer your answer Yeah
Starting point is 00:27:09 That's actually improved And I guess kind of last one for this segment This is like a weirdly like Agro question towards you Okay So I wanted to hear what you say to this From Martian Twink Hunter No judgment, but does Jim ever feel embarrassed about his media consumption?
Starting point is 00:27:28 He seems to never watch any movies, TV shows or read any books. He seems to just watch YouTube videos. I know this is easy, but I noticed I was the same, so made an effort to watch more films and read more books, and do legitimately feel a bit smarter, and like I've got more cultural references because of it. How are you going to defend yourself from that allegation? I don't watch enough Netflix.
Starting point is 00:27:50 It's like, what the fuck? That's like my main point of pride is that I don't engage with that fucking trash. I'm less brainwash, dude. You're broken out of the Matrix, motherfucker. I am reading at the moment. I'm reading, I'm amusing ourselves to death. As a matter of fact.
Starting point is 00:28:07 You started it. Yeah, yeah. And I'm chapters deep, son. I won't tell you how many chapters, but multiple. Multiple chapters. Yeah, more than one. I don't. I've also read.
Starting point is 00:28:20 I had in recent, I finished it like last week. Absolute Batman. You finished it? Yeah. Nice. Or volume one it was, right? Volume one, so the zoo. How was it?
Starting point is 00:28:34 Fucking sick. In fact, I today bought the second one. Nice. So I got paid yesterday. I like all the twists on what you expect. Yeah, yeah. I haven't read it yet, but like from what I know. Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:28:45 I'm from what I've told you. I'd have to borrow that. I'd like to read. Yeah, for sure, for sure. I watch like good movies. Yeah. And also like, to be clear, you don't talk about every single thing.
Starting point is 00:29:02 Neither of us talk about every single thing. No. There have been periods where like that's been a recurring segment, but we haven't done that for a really long time. We don't, there have been loads of movies that like, or shows or whatever that we talk about off camera that just don't even necessarily.
Starting point is 00:29:16 Yeah, yeah. We don't feel like there's a combo to have or something. But also I feel like, like with is this specifically about like the culture war movies that I'm not engaging with like because I'd argue I watch more movies or at least with more like
Starting point is 00:29:35 presence than the average person I'd also assume you probably see more movies than the average person probably yeah um just because I'm not going to the cinema to seeing like current shit um because I'm sorry that takes way too much fucking time. Like to be seeing every like good movie
Starting point is 00:29:54 that comes out in the cinema, it's like no. Because you know, it's like a minimum like 20 minute, 30 minute drive to the cinema. 20 minute 30 drive home, the fucking 45 minutes of adverts before the film fucking starts. You know, there's
Starting point is 00:30:10 it's like... Time's too valuable to be doing that all the time. You're working full time. You're doing this. You're going to the gym. you're going to music lessons. Yeah. You have like relationships for people to maintain.
Starting point is 00:30:24 Yeah. That shit's way more important than making sure you're up to date with the latest fucking low budget horror movie. I watched obsession yesterday. Did you actually? Yeah. No, the day before yesterday, sorry.
Starting point is 00:30:38 Okay, we have to talk about this then. Okay. If you're okay with that. Yeah. What did you think? It's good. Cool. Well, I get... I...
Starting point is 00:30:52 I really liked it. I haven't... Were you frightened? At a couple bits. Because I haven't been, like, frightened over horror movie in ages until that one. When she's in the corner. That's freaky. I mean, like... And also, let's not spoil anything specific. Yeah, yeah, yeah. The concept?
Starting point is 00:31:12 The psychological stuff. There's a scene in the car with a phone call that I thought was, like... like spine chilling. I don't know if you remember that. With a phone call. Who's calling? The main character. It's like the...
Starting point is 00:31:27 He's trying to get information on the Mcuffin that caused the whole situation. Oh shit. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, of course. I thought that was like... That's fantastic, yeah. ...clever and, like, super fucked up. I'd also recommend the director's, like, short film on YouTube.
Starting point is 00:31:40 The chair? Yeah, he's got a couple, I think. I haven't seen... That was fun. I haven't seen any of that side of his, like... No, check out the chair. That one's really fun. The comedy shit's fun.
Starting point is 00:31:48 fucking goaded. Yeah. That was my first exposure to Curry, Carrey Barker, I think his name is. Yeah. And the other guy who's in Obsession is always, they're like a, they're like the key and peel of YouTube.
Starting point is 00:32:01 Yeah, yeah. Yeah, they goaded. I'm glad. The film wasn't what I was expecting. Um, and I found like the, the last like quarter, much less scary.
Starting point is 00:32:17 Mm-hmm. Um, I'd agree with that. I guess having, having watched, um, the chair first and the way that, like, the scariness just kind of has a linear upward progression. I was expecting that more so and kind of more of the like nighttime creepy shit. Um, right, right, right. But you enjoyed it. But yeah, I thought it was really good. The, all the actors were, were like, spot on the, the commentary of like the film.
Starting point is 00:32:49 Yeah, it's one of those It's one of those movies Where everyone's, they're like There's weird like discourse and like It kind of starts a dialogue Yeah And people want to like give their take and Yeah
Starting point is 00:33:02 And I would I would recommend watching it with your partner Yeah Like you're gonna be sideying them Yeah No it was really good I had a lot of fun Yeah
Starting point is 00:33:15 That's kind of funny that you also have that to reference in relation to this yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah it's definitely one of my favorites of the year so far that one nice yeah it's fucking good and just you know it's so cheap to make it's nice it doesn't need to be more there's nothing like a high budget could have done
Starting point is 00:33:38 for that film no that's part of what's so good about it was able to achieve that and yeah looks better and is more impressive than a lot of movies that have all the resources or like, what was it I was looking at recently that had like... I saw a clip from Craven and the caption was like, this fight is so goaded. And it was Craven versus the rhino in Craven.
Starting point is 00:34:03 And it was like the worst fucking shit I've ever seen. I guess, seeing as you mentioned it, and you're never going to watch that fucking awful film. Craven? Yeah, Craven the Hunter. There's like this scene in the film. And it's the guy who says Alan, I think, in... What, the dinosaur?
Starting point is 00:34:23 It's that character. You know, he's like the... Yeah, yeah. Weird noise. Yeah. Look, this is a real scene from the movie, right? Just come and watch this shit, because... And then we'll wrap this section up.
Starting point is 00:34:42 Look. Like, this is the rhino. The Kravinoff hit failed. All of our guys are dead. What? That's the rhino. That's the rhino. He just makes this...
Starting point is 00:35:08 I don't know, like, what they are going? What's it meant to be scary? I don't know what the fuck they would like. That's hilarious. What the direction was for that. So to answer your question, no, I don't feel embarrassed. Good and you shouldn't. And a weirdly agrope question.
Starting point is 00:35:32 Yeah, you should never feel embarrassed or shame people for not keeping up to date with the latest fucking MCU movie. Especially because, like, all these communities always have this weird gate keepery element to it where it's like, oh, the way you learn music isn't good enough. Yeah, yeah. If you listen to an audio book, it's not as good as you. Yeah, or you haven't read it then. Yeah. What if I actually don't have fucking time? It's like, why does it matter to you?
Starting point is 00:36:00 And also, like, sure you want more. people engaging in the hobby you love. Like what? What's your fucking problem? Yeah. Is this guy fucking saying this because I didn't actually watch a Minecraft movie? Or spies in disguise. We watched Spice in Disguise?
Starting point is 00:36:16 Okay, yeah. Yeah. We know that movie inside now. The director's cut. Yeah. Yeah. Fuck. Well, I guess we'll see after these messages and Jim will vanish. Yeah, I'm going because that question pissed me off. Yeah, fair.
Starting point is 00:36:30 Because I'm actually really embarrassed about my media. you're into. How dare you expose me? The best impression of turning into a rhino. Fuck.
Starting point is 00:36:48 Is it good though? It's craving good. I mean, yeah, it's awesome. Hell yeah. Rankers on PS5. Out now. PlayStation This is wild.
Starting point is 00:37:03 It's wild. Play us on day hur. Downloading wankers on. my Xbox. Which one is Bart's real scream? Ben, sorry. Check please.
Starting point is 00:37:22 See? Yo, what's up? Hi. Hi there. Hello. It's me, Alex. Just by myself for the second half. This has been a weird
Starting point is 00:37:31 Christopher Nolan timeline episode for me where I've got three different segments to stitch together. And why am I telling you this? You don't need to know this. You can just listen. Let's do some questions then. Continue on from what we're doing in the first half
Starting point is 00:37:43 where I was dressed up like a I don't even want to talk about it, to be honest. I don't want to put a description on it or words on it. I want to instead answer this question from Isaac. Doomsday trailer, Thaltz. I did do a reaction video, a classic reaction style video, to the Avengers Doomsday trailer over on IHETV,
Starting point is 00:38:03 which you can go and check out if you want to see my... straight up live reaction. But it's not like an exciting advertisement, is it? There's uh, everyone just seems to be watching it out of obligation or at that point with it. It's not really exciting, it's more just like, they're doing this and they're doing it this way. There's something kind of desperate about it, like all the memberberry reference inclusions, I don't know how that's gonna feel with that Russo direction. A lot of it seems, yeah, kind of breaking glass in case of emergency type vibes. Oh my god, get Deadpool in there.
Starting point is 00:38:44 I don't know how that's going to look. Like Gambit is in there from Deadpool 3. I don't know how that's going to feel. Lom says, thoughts on the Shapiro slash Walsh Odyssey Rift. I assume this is getting at the Ben Shapiro, The Odyssey, Nolan's Odyssey review, and I didn't know Walsh had a strong opinion on it. It's not like I keep up with the dude.
Starting point is 00:39:08 I'm guessing from this question, though, that he hates it. Just double check. Oh, okay. The Odyssey was even worse than I expected. Uploaded four days ago. Gosh, a long review. Here's everything wrong with it. Episode 1,8009.
Starting point is 00:39:22 Wow, okay. Do the comments agree with him? Mel Gibson's The Odyssey. Now that's a movie I'll spend my money on. Oh yeah, people... This whole space is just so... So insane. I'm going to just skip to like three different points
Starting point is 00:39:36 and see how it sounds. I'll include the audio. A significant profit, at least from the perspective of movie studios. And the first approach is to fund an existing IP to include very recently viral meme IPs like back rooms. Nice, viral meme IPs. Let's go a bit deeper. Hung shot. Odysseus's crew consists of many people of different races, multiple Asians, including his second in command. Now, really? Of course. I mean, obviously. Right, let's go
Starting point is 00:40:03 deeper in. So, else he brings it. In fact, panned by everybody. So if your intention was to prove my point, you succeeded. Like I said, these racewops only go in one direction. He's still talking about this. 17 minutes in. That's like a 10 minute jump. Let's see if we go another 10 minutes. What he's talking about?
Starting point is 00:40:20 I was realizing, thinking about the film, there's a tolerance for ambiguity in the world of The Odyssey, which I don't think there exactly is in the world of Hollywood blockbuster action films. Okay. Well, she's right. I never thought I'd say that about someone that looks like that. And when she says that... Why is he's just such an asshole for no reason?
Starting point is 00:40:41 Well, yeah, he's a comedian, of course. Serious problem, especially if we're talking to this, one of the greatest director of all time. Like, you should be able to understand the dialogue, at least. Okay, he's kind of spit a fact at this part. But as the film passes the two-hour mark, you start to think of the problem as more of a blessing. I mean, if you're missing any lines of dialogue.
Starting point is 00:40:59 Okay, it's a very hyperbolic. Obviously, a bunch of these conservative, because some of these conservative commentators have to, like, triple down on this opinion that they've had before they even saw the movie and were basing their entire opinion on a trailer which like okay it's so annoying because it makes the whole discourse after the fact like if you have certain critiques of the film you have to then dance around not sounding like one of these people like it's not a perfect film okay it's fine and i want to have that conversation not like this waste of time bullshit um for outrage algorithms
Starting point is 00:41:37 Um, I don't know why Shapiro said he liked it. Um, outside of the fact that hopefully he's being honest in his movie reviews and it's not politically motivated, but we'll see about that. Um, yeah, he liked it apparently. I don't know if it was to try and... I'm pretty sure The Daily Wire is not doing well at the moment and he got a lot of flack for his Superman and his one battle after another review. So I don't know if he wants an easy win or something. there. In the meantime, let's do this one from Gruble. Stinky up boys, or I should say boy, this time.
Starting point is 00:42:12 Any advice on telling my stinky roommate that he's, well, you know? His room is our living room. Since he isn't on the lease and his stay is supposedly temporary, and when he takes his shoes off, it smells up the whole apartment. He also comes back inside immediately after smoking and the smoke lingers on him, smelling the house up further. Unfortunately, he's very sensitive to criticism. He has this thing where he...
Starting point is 00:42:33 He has this thing where his pants slipped down, well past the start of his bush and he adamantly denies it when we tell him he needs to wear a belt, tighten his drawstring or just get some new pants. Recently there was an episode of this and my partner who also lives with us called some mutual friends who all confirmed the frequent pub sightings and our roommate still claimed it wasn't an issue. No joke citing his hairy belly. He often gets pouty for the rest of the day after a flashing allegation. Despite all of this, he's actually a dear cherished friend.
Starting point is 00:43:05 whom I don't want to make feel like a burden and like I said he's not very receptive to criticism because it upsets him so much so I don't want to directly tell him he's smelly and needs to bathe daily or at least wash them dogs but the stench has to stop what to do about this stinker hmm right you're in a bit of an untenable position you've let it you've let it slip to this degree where it's made it kind of more difficult for you and I've dealt with people like this you know who um like kind of kind of can't take criticism. Even if it's not really anything personal, it's just like any time you have to establish a boundary, basically, it becomes this whole thing, which is kind of like manipulative and unfair and just unproductive a lot of the time.
Starting point is 00:43:56 Yeah, if you've lived together for this whole time already, and he's not on the least, so he's got like nothing on the line. It's not like, you're not in equal positions here. And now it's gotten bad to the point where it's affecting other people who are trying to live there or in your relationship or whatever. So someone's kind of got to have the conversation. Someone's going to have to basically confirm to upset him. But like he's the one being a dick, not you. And he's making you feel like a dick for this like childish way of behaving. It's kind of, kind of the issue of why they say that like you shouldn't like live with your friends really unless you want to like hate them um it's it's a good way of fast-tracking that especially if you're just not really communicating or
Starting point is 00:44:44 have loose boundaries um yeah someone's basically just going to have to take the hell i'm afraid unless you want it to just linger and linger and uh just get worse you kind of got to rip the band-aid off and not let it slowly just tear off the hair one by one um You don't know the guy. Maybe there's another way around it that I can't think of. No Project 593 says Bear Bear, could you pass a mic to Billy? I have a question. Fish or chicken?
Starting point is 00:45:14 Thanks for everything you do for jar. Hang on, let me just pass the mic over to a little Billy who's sat right next to me. I think that stands for fish. She prefers fish, but does like a little bit of chicken now and again. Non-regularly. wanted to clarify. Lego Loppy 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 says, will we ever get a JARCAST episode 100? In a way, every episode is episode 100, if you really think about it, if you break it down enough layers. If you break it down 100 layers, you'll find that I think you've actually already
Starting point is 00:45:48 got JARCast episode 100, hundreds of times, maybe. Did you ever think about that? You ever think about it that way? Hmm? Okay, I've got some big ones here. I'm just not going to do or I'm going to save for when I've got Jim. Oh, this is a fun little anecdote from Mastifio. Hey boys, a quite wholesome moment happened at my workplace this week relating to a certain laughing gnome. Ha ha ha, he he he. For context, I work as an assistant teacher at a primary school in Wales and over the summer, additionally work for a summer club for said school.
Starting point is 00:46:22 Where we look after students, when the parents are too busy to look after them for the day. The school is a special needs unit and we have a semi-verbal autistic child regularly coming in for a couple of days. She's very lovely to care for, although can get quite upset as she gets tired and overwhelmed in the afternoon, as she arrives quite early compared to the other children. She really enjoys singing and watching music videos, so whenever she's aggravated in the afternoon, we allow her to listen to some music to calm her down. One day I was in charge of putting on a song for her to listen to and decided to put on The Laughing Nome by David Bowie,
Starting point is 00:46:55 as she likes similar songs like The Frog Song from Paul McCartney. I don't actually know that one. It has become her favorite song to listen to me. ever since she watched it and is obsessed with the song, constantly singing the melody and saying the word gnome, when she's allowed music in the afternoon. If I didn't listen to Jha, I wouldn't have known about the song. So when the other staff asked me how I know about the song, I'd just say I'm a big David Bowie fan, as it's easier to explain, fair play. Anyways, I would like to thank Alex for introducing me to the song, as it has brought immense joy to an artistic child at the school I work at, just goes to show how much of an amazing artist Bowie was. Hell yeah. That's nice.
Starting point is 00:47:32 Spreading that gnome like a fungus, making it grow in other places. Sharing a bit of gnome-like joy. It's always good to hear about, always good to see. I guess this kind of feeds into that Odyssey stuff with no community 8551. Thoughts on the critical drinker and indeed this perception that the problem with a lot of media these days is down to force diversity, politics and general woke skullduggery. This has been playing on my mind a bit ever since the initial backlash towards the Odyssey overcasting. The whole Odyssey drama has been interesting because A lot of stuff that's been happening over the past six years seems to be the internet going dangerously real.
Starting point is 00:48:11 But this Odyssey thing was a reminder that like sometimes there is an enormous divide with what seems like something. There's a big deal online like these Odyssey trailers and it getting like dislike bombed and like it must have been like bot farms doing something. because it just doesn't really make sense. And this non-traversy about the casting and including like a trans actor or whatever, they were upset about anything, cultural-related. But it hasn't affected the film in any way critically or commercially, so they can't pull the won't go broke. And it doesn't really seem to be tenable.
Starting point is 00:48:55 That's like an argument anymore. Like you can dislike the movie and you can dislike it for that stupid reason. and if you're a bigot, but I think a lot of it is just algorithm fuel. They just, you don't understand how much money these people are making. And if you have a, just the new cultural thing, it's easy content. It's like algorithm fueled. And I think it's kind of as simple as that a lot of the time. It's like, yeah, it's a narrative, I guess.
Starting point is 00:49:25 It doesn't really matter that much. It's not like I really watch the drinkers videos. It's really not for me. It is crazy that some of these people are like regularly on Pierce Morgan and stuff like that. It's just weird. I never really saw this coming as someone who's been in this space for a long time. But it happens. Dibble Dobbs says, bear in, bear out chaps.
Starting point is 00:49:44 What sort of meals are you cooking these days? Any current obsessions? Looking at you, noodle boy. Is Beast famous student pasta still knocking audiences for six? What rations is Randy distributing amongst the troops? So Jim's obviously not here, so we can't answer this. but uh honestly i'm back on the noodle thing but in a much healthier way um i've been just in this nice routine of buying a big ass chicken cooking it all up oven cooking it stripping all of its
Starting point is 00:50:14 chickeny flesh off its chickeny bones then uh making stock making chicken stock out of the carcass and boiling up some carrots some celery and all the stuff you put in stock some lemon grass all the bit and then having this delicious golden stock to make ramen out of and other other things mostly ramen to be honest I'm trying to make it as yummy as possible make the whole thing from scratch make it nourishing and keep the salt content under control because like when you make your own shit you can actually see what's going in it which is quite cool it feels a lot more rewarding to kind of cook and use ingredients that way like you're using everything
Starting point is 00:50:55 Feels less wasteful. And it's way cheaper actually to cook that way too. So that's kind of my current obsession as well as a lot of Asian-inspired stuff like salmon bowls. And you can use any protein. You can do chicken or beef or tofu is good as well. So yeah, there's something about Asian cuisine that speaks to me. And I never feel like gross or bad after eating it. Always feel kind of nourished.
Starting point is 00:51:27 I got some like energy, some good energy, not like fake, kind of carbly energy. Just just keep going. Lego Minion Sax has one. Great name. I enjoyed the vinyl discussion. I was listening to a vinyl record while listening, Loll. They're beautiful objects and it's fun to hunt for ones you like. And if they aren't too scratched up, play them and cherish them.
Starting point is 00:51:48 My nicest find is a copy of Soft Machine Third, which looks old as shit but has been well taken care of. Cool to hear a similar story with scary monsters and super creeps. Keep on rocking mingers and game on. Yeah, it's become like a nice little hobby of mine. Whenever I visit anywhere, try and find a ideally like local independent record stores and see the way they organize things, the kind of vibe they have. It's like slightly different depending on who's running it. It's really fun.
Starting point is 00:52:19 And then the whole like random aspect of all what might I find here. I got a, I found a cheaper copy of the Brutalist score on vinyl. That was a cool find. That was my kind of latest one. Yeah, it's just a nice thing to do. I'm rewarding and, oh, I did actually grab, it wasn't a vinyl, but one of the, I don't know what you call them, it's like the mat, the cover you put on the record player when it's not playing a vinyl.
Starting point is 00:52:50 I got a David Byrne themed one from seeing him. live yesterday in I keep wanting I keep getting Sheffield mixed up with Cardiff for some reason in Cardiff, Wales very very different places completely opposite sides of the country but yeah definitely scratches and itching me
Starting point is 00:53:08 because I'm like I'm getting to an end point with my Lego situation where I just it just takes up too much room so I've gotten rid of a huge amount of it I've just kind of got like Lord of the Ring stuff left that's kind of I feel like my hyper niche that has to be
Starting point is 00:53:24 stuck to and even then like there's there's stuff coming out for it that I just can't I just can't justify I got nowhere to put it or I don't really like it that much but vinyl is a bit more convenient it's a bit more of like a you can make it like a social activity um there's kind of more to do with it um so that's like a nice kind of replacement for that collector itch in my mind okay I'm going to stitch in one of the other things I recorded this one about live music and specifically when I saw my chemical romance featuring Randina. Up, up, down, down, B, A, star. What?
Starting point is 00:53:59 What are you saying? Or is it up, up, down, left, right, left, right. Oh, you did in the contra code. Yeah, I know it. Because he says at the end of that, my life feels like a video game. Oh, the best song ever, you mean. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:54:11 God. Dude, I hate Ronnie Rex. It's already derailed. It's supposed to be in a focus. Randina, God damn it. You're so annoying. Two people with ADHD having a couple of it. When, um, when I want to talk about
Starting point is 00:54:24 MCR, I go into the bathroom and look in the mirror and say, Randine three times and then you appear. Hello. Yeah. So, let's answer this question from the Sharingan warrior. Okie-doke. While Argy licks my foot. Gross, do you.
Starting point is 00:54:41 He's like really getting in every cravice. Yeah. Yeah, okay. It's soothing for him. It's not soothing for me. So, yeah, Alex, please elaborate on your thoughts on the MCR concert. Do you keep up with the law of the performance who you just, there for the music and had no idea why they were dying at the end. Seeing them in Wembley
Starting point is 00:54:58 was my first ever concert and it was absolutely incredible bear on boys and remember Patricia is always watching. What's the Patricia thing? I don't know what the Patricia thing is, which like, no, dude. I was counting on you knowing that. I thought you're supposed to be the no, sorry, well, no I am, but like I know the characters, but I don't know who Patricia is. I know Pepe. I know, yeah, that's the little dude, the little marching dude like on the cover. That's I know Marianne, I know the nurse, I know, like a lot of the characters don't actually have names. So I don't know who, you know what? Am I allowed to like Google search things?
Starting point is 00:55:33 No, you're not. Young Jamie has to do it. But young Jamie's not here. Jamie, pull it up. Patricia, my chemical room. While you're looking for that, the whale from Wales says went here just to ask the exact same thing. Alex, can you please, please expand on your experience and how much you enjoyed it. I also went to see them in Wembley on the 8th and it was genuinely amazing.
Starting point is 00:55:54 It changed my life. It also changed my life and shout out to the two, I think it was two people who saw that I went to see the like jar people. Oh right. And DM me and were like, oh hey, like I'm seeing them in Wembley in a few days because we saw them at Amfield in Liverpool. And I think I literally sent them both like three minute long voice notes because I will talk to anyone in the world
Starting point is 00:56:21 about my chemical romance at length. I'm really curious about how the people, so what I have seen on Reddit before we even talk about the concert or the law, I'm super curious about people's experiences at Wembley because we were meant
Starting point is 00:56:37 to be at the Wembley Saturday show. We had tickets for that and then something came up so we ended up not going to that. But I have seen like on Reddit and socials and stuff, a lot of people were saying that the sound was like awful. Like, people were complaining to Wembley about the sound.
Starting point is 00:56:57 So I'm really curious about these guys' experiences because it sounds very positive, which is amazing. I was a bit concerned that it was in an arena of the kind of awkward guerrillas angle. Yeah. And the sound of it or whatever. Well, we were front standing. So we had like a pretty good, we were very, very close, which is awesome. You can just find the best place when you're standing.
Starting point is 00:57:17 Yeah. It sounds best. And the sound was brilliant. Like I had no issues at all with the sound. No, me neither. Which, yeah, after Gorillas, I wasn't sure, I wasn't sure how it was going to go. And I've never been to, I've been to a lot of, like, the London venues, like the big open-air London venues.
Starting point is 00:57:34 And they can be hit or miss, but I've never been to Anfield. And it's another venue like Tottenham Hotspurs, which isn't actually designed for concerts. So, yeah, I was just quite curious about that. But it was amazing. It was also life-changing for me. And I'm really glad that it sounds like everyone was having a positive experience because, like, I mean, they're my favorite band in the world and, like, I'll probably start crying during this conversation, which is normal because every time we speak about MCR, I do start growing. They're everything to me. But, yeah, I mean, where do we even start?
Starting point is 00:58:09 Like, how do you go? I'm not used to this podcasting business. I liked the theatrics of it. Oh, it was incredible. That was cool. I've never seen pyrotechnics quite. like that. Yeah, yeah, they like lit the stage on fire for famous last words, which for context. So Alex wasn't at this show, but when they did their reunion tour in 2022, I went to the Milton Keynes. I think it was
Starting point is 00:58:32 the Saturday. Was it Friday Saturday? I can't remember. It's not that important, but I went to one of the nights there. And, you know, I had the best time in the world because it was them. And like, they do not disappoint and they are so talented and have such a stage presence. And, you know, There's nothing like hearing your favorite songs in the world live. Like, it's just an incredible experience. But they didn't do. It was very much, to me, it felt like they were kind of testing the waters. Like, okay, like, we're back.
Starting point is 00:59:00 We've announced this tour. They came out with a single, like, a few days before I saw them actually, which was awesome. They started, I think they opened with that. But this was definitely, like, they did not have budget. Like, they did this time. Like, they had, like, some cool stuff set up. up in the background, like some cool staging, but it was nothing like this. And there was a whole narrative going on.
Starting point is 00:59:26 It really reminds me of like the wall kind of concept album, storytelling stuff. The Wall or 1984, I mean, for you as someone who doesn't know the law, like, how did you, did you feel like you could pick up on it? I think I know like bits and pieces. I was just enjoying like the vibe anyway. And I've always liked that album in particular, the book. the Black Parade. It's cool.
Starting point is 00:59:52 There's something about like a cancer, someone with cancer? It's like the crux of it or something? Shall I do like a quick, like super quick little rundown for the... What's the like elevator pitch of the story? Yeah. So the Black Parade is there are kind of two stories that it follows. One is the patient. So it's someone who like dies and joins the Black Parade in death.
Starting point is 01:00:13 And then there's also the kind of like narrator. I think he's called the Marcher, and I think that's Pepe on the front cover. I could be wrong. Please don't shout at me in the comments. But yeah, so there are these two kind of separate narratives. The marcher is like he's theorized. I don't know if this is confirmed, but he's theorized to have been like a soldier with songs like Mama, referencing like a war and the bombs and like all that kind of stuff.
Starting point is 01:00:41 So yeah, there are these two and they both like join the Black Parade. But then the law. of the tour is kind of separate. So I, yeah, I wasn't sure really where they were going to go with the law, because I knew it would be theatrical because of like the way that they, like, they announced the tour with all these really, like, amazing high budget law videos. Like, I really encourage people to go and watch them. Wait, there's a different story.
Starting point is 01:01:08 No, so it's kind of like a continuation of the story. So in the tour law, they are, like, my chemical romance are performing. as the black parade, like the musicians from the black parade. Right. And what has been established in law is that they're in this, like, fictional dictatorship called drag. And they have been, like, the black parade, so there's, this is like kind of deep law now, but there's a, I think it was a 2008 concert circuit that they did called the Black Parade is
Starting point is 01:01:43 dead, where like the band, the Black Parade are, like, like, the band, the Black Parade are, disappeared basically and we find out now through this new tour law that they're like put in prison or some kind of like re-education camp kind of thing so when we see them as the black parade in the like this 2026 and i think it started in america in 2025 tour circuit um we're seeing them after they've come out of this like re-education camp um and they're like forced to perform for us by the grand immortal dictator who the guy slaps him yeah no no no no no so that's another guy he doesn't have like a name name. He's called like the clerk I think he's called.
Starting point is 01:02:24 So he's kind of the, he's kind of like their handler. And then the guy who, do you remember the guy who came in at the start wearing the Liverpool FC scarf and he sat down and they did the drag national album? Oh yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, that's the dictator. And then the woman who the incredibly talented opera singer who came on for Mama, she's like kind of theorized to be the grand immortal dictator's daughter something like that we know that her character is called is this like an alternate history on earth situation or just like a fantasy world um i'm honestly not sure i it might be like an alternate history
Starting point is 01:02:57 kind of vibe it doesn't really matter that much i'd yeah i'm i'm not sure maybe someone in the comments will know because it was like a whole aesthetic to it which was obviously very like it was like soviet kind of inspired and yeah world two kind of stuff in there yeah so it's made up language yeah so kiposhka so that's the made-up language of the Black Parade and Girabwe worked with a, I can't remember his name unfortunately because he's super talented, I'd like to
Starting point is 01:03:23 talk about him, but he's this guy who created the Kaposhka language of drag using, I think it was like Russian and maybe Arabic, like some, like, it's like a mix of other languages.
Starting point is 01:03:39 And when we went in, they handed us like a piece of paper like this crowd interactive element yeah it was like that language's version of yes and no right yeah it's we still have the match yeah i'd like to frame them um yeah so we as we were going through i think it was everyone in standing or maybe everyone in front standing um was given this sign that said like yay or nay and we voted on a public execution didn't we yeah going into the like dictator stuff and the culty vibes. Yeah, they had like, because as you come into the concert,
Starting point is 01:04:17 as you're kind of like waiting for them to come on, where you would normally have like ads, I guess, in most arenas. They had like the rules of the drag nation and it's stuff like, no, I mean, I quite like this one personally. It's like if you cut into a queue, you will be publicly executed. Yeah, you would like that. I would like that. If you cut me off in traffic, you get publicly.
Starting point is 01:04:40 Yeah. I don't know. It was just really enjoyable. As an experience, they just seemed like pros, you know, just made it look effortless. And once the, like, Black Parade stuff was over and going into, like... Mm. Yeah. What'd you call that? Like, a second set or an encore or whatever. So it was, it was like they have, like, an orchestral intermission, which was really cool. I think it was about, like, 10 minutes maybe. They had this, like, amazing.
Starting point is 01:05:07 So this was after famous last words. I would really encourage anyone to watch. Like, I'm sure that performance lives somewhere online. It was incredible. Yeah, and then they have this kind of orchestral intermission for a bit. Whilst they get changed, they come onto a different stage, and they perform as My Chemical Romance instead of as the Blackbird. Yeah, because I thought that was really cool when we saw Nine-H Nails,
Starting point is 01:05:35 like the stage A, stage B. Yeah, I love that. like break up a show and for MCR specifically it was like to change the aesthetic yeah it's like this is done let's do like a different type of presentation now yeah it was it was really really amazing um I mean I like I mean the last three people that we've seen my chemical romance fat boy slim David Byrne like I would encourage anyone who ever gets a chance to see any of those people to see them because it like they do not disappoint that incredibly talented genius I mean them just all being like absolute pros, making it look easy.
Starting point is 01:06:12 Yeah. It's obviously not. It's all like refined down to this just diamond of performance. I'll read this one then from old man diabetes, bear bear boys. I wanted to comment on Alex not mentioning him going to see MCR. Just under a year ago, I moved away from my small Montana town to go live in a large city. I moved by myself. And even though it was a scary new setting, I promised myself to do big city things now.
Starting point is 01:06:37 I'm in, sorry now that I'm a big city boy. Lots of big cities, though. Concerts being one of them. A while back, Alex mentioned that you went to see Gary Newman. It was a crazy coincidence, as I'd seen Gary Newman tickets a few days before, and I was debating on whether to go, because I only knew one of his songs, because. After Alex mentioned seeing them, I went ahead and got a ticket, and it was one of the best shows I've seen so far this year.
Starting point is 01:06:59 I might not have seen them if it wasn't for you boys. I want to hear about the shows you boys go to. That's what I'm trying to say. Alex's not mentioning seeing MCR hurt my feelings. Still love you boys, though, game on wankers. Hurt my feelings, too, when you told me you didn't do that. I was planning to. It's not like I was trying not to mention it.
Starting point is 01:07:15 You're like hiding it because you're scared of being called an emo. What was I saying? Fuck. Yeah, I think there was something going on, like the, I think it was the citizen vigilante bullshit, and I just got distracted and forgot to bring it up. Right. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 01:07:37 course. I mean, yeah. When did you see Gary Newman? Were you with me? Um, because I've seen him, but I've never seen him. Oh. Yeah, that's why it's kind of, that's why I kind of picked this out. I mean, I'm glad that you thought I saw him. Um, I, yeah, because I've seen him and he was really incredible. It was, um, in Bristol. It was Bristol. It was Bristol O2 like a couple of years ago, and he was doing kind of like a dystopian, like political thing. Um, he's very, very good life. Um, but Yeah, it was like, when in the museum. But I've never seen him live, I'd like to. He's really good.
Starting point is 01:08:12 His voice live is like, it really holds up. Yeah, and he's got a really good catalogue. Yeah, for sure. What was the question? I'm sorry, I just got distracted by that. It was more to just mention seeing live music more. Right. We're doing our best.
Starting point is 01:08:26 Like, Jim saw Samara Joy recently and someone spotted him there. Oh, that's fun. And that was just in like a little, that was on Bradford on England, wasn't it? Yeah, it was in Brefford, wasn't it? Yeah. I mentioned seeing David Byrne if we're on this anyway We saw him yesterday Oh God, I was so good
Starting point is 01:08:44 And I just I didn't have any like specific expectations And then as we were like queued up in this incredible venue Which was like a castle Cardiff Castle yeah Which is like what I've been to Cardiff before But somehow missed the enormous castle Right in the middle of it
Starting point is 01:09:00 Literally it slapped back in the centre I was like how did I not notice this before? With like a 10,000 person and capacity. And it was like, yeah, this is, immediately this is going to be cool. Yeah. When you get in there. Like, it's a setting with history, I was like.
Starting point is 01:09:17 And, like, as the sun was going down, the castle was, like, being lit up by these purple lights. And, yeah, I don't know why I didn't anticipate it to be as good as it was, because it's, like, David Byrne, obviously. And the set was, like, a really nice mixture of, like, a bunch of his solar stuff and Talking Heads. Classics, of course. like I'm gonna be nutton. And I was. It was just like good vibes. Yeah, the crowd was like really great for that as well.
Starting point is 01:09:44 Yeah. It was like the right size people didn't get silly. Because like we had to be tactical for Fat Boy Slim. Mm. There was a dude like on so many pingers just throwing himself around. There was like a wide bird. We were like in the crowd when he was there. It was a wide bird.
Starting point is 01:10:02 I don't know if you caught him doing it. But like he was in this like so. circle of people and he was kind of like spinning in circles and just randomly like locking eyes with someone going up to them and like doing something weird and then like locking eyes with someone else and going up to them oh god i'm glad you didn't try to get us out of the yeah because i think you notice it like Alex is just generally a more observant person than i am in public so i was just kind of like choosing to ignore him but you were like i think we should get away from i was like yeah chasing the good vibes through the crowd because
Starting point is 01:10:35 I guess it's just a lot bigger like tramlines but yeah I think I mean for like I said this to you earlier David Ben is the most excited I've ever seen Alex at a concert I don't know like I don't know
Starting point is 01:10:51 how you come across on this podcast but Alex is a very understated guy in real life like you are not like you're not a guy that's going crazy at concerts but you were like you were so so so excited it was so wholesome i mean i like we will you be in paris if i say we like both cried like multiple times through the
Starting point is 01:11:15 sir no i'm fine with that it was like i said i cried at uh gorillas sing oh yeah i mean i cried my eyes out at mcr and i cried at gorillas i just i mean i just i want to just crying all the time um but yeah no it was it was just so so great and so wholesome um And three, I mean, we've been to three shows from, you know, very different shows from three people that I believe are geniuses, like, in their own. All different genres and, like, talents. Yeah, I mean, all of my chemical romance are geniuses, I think. Like, they are so, so, so amazing. But, yeah, just seeing them, like, get on stage, like, bust out an amazing set.
Starting point is 01:11:56 Three very political shows in slightly different ways, but all with, like, the same overall message. Yeah, true. Like it is the platform to do it. I mean, it makes sense. Yeah. Yeah, there wasn't a single cable on stage for David Byrne. Yeah, his setup was unreal. Like the, and the aesthetic design of all that was really cool as well.
Starting point is 01:12:18 The costumes where they were all in like blue and would like contrast it with these background images and do like fun little like weird David Byrnisms. Like the spotlight shadow like being out of sync with him and then like walking to like. Yeah. Camera and stuff like that. Yeah. Really cool, like, blocking and just thoughtful. Yeah. And just the talent on display was like...
Starting point is 01:12:40 A hundred percent. I mean, trust David Byrne to find, like, the world's most talented musicians and put them on stage. It was like, it was such a beautiful vibe. Like, it felt like a celebration of, like, just humanity. It was, it was so amazing. And the actual, like, sound quality is definitely, like, a top five for me. 100%
Starting point is 01:13:03 Is the venue or like if he does if he goes extra with the So I've never seen a set up like that for live music where each Individual band member had like the freedom to like completely move around including like drummers and yeah and they they were jiving They were dancing they were having like such like I I the energy was amazing because you could just tell that every single person there on stage was having the time of their life and they had these like like custom rigs like for the bigger instruments like attached to them. So I mean about the no wires. I mean about the no wires. Yeah. Because normally, normally, like, the drummers obviously trapped in one place, but he was like walking around.
Starting point is 01:13:39 Yeah, he was walking around. He was dancing. He was one of the best time. Yeah. Yeah. And they kept, like, swapping out instruments as this Asian guy that was just like, he was like flexing. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:13:47 Oh, my God, he was incredible on guitar. He was incredible. He was like, Alex was like, whenever they need an instrument to be played, they get this guy out. Like, he was like, he was like shredding on the guitar for a solo. Then he goes away, he comes back with like a violin. and then he goes away, he comes back with like a harpsicle. We were like, what can't he play?
Starting point is 01:14:05 An accordion at one point? Yeah. Yeah. And it was such a, like, so sonically interesting. Yeah. About the entire thing. Like, just a mixture of instruments. And, yeah, another just pro.
Starting point is 01:14:16 So glad I got to see him because he's old as fuck. Yeah. I didn't even care that, like, he had, like, a bit of a cough in certain parts. Yeah. Because I, like, I know that, like, if you are, because he must be such a, like, perfectionist and he cares so much. about like doing like you know doing it right so i was worried for a second that it might like he had a cough through like i think it was just like one song near the start i think he cough like three or four
Starting point is 01:14:40 times over 90 minutes yeah um which i mean and you know his voice is still amazing yeah the voice was on point voice incredible and i i don't know i kind of like when there's something like that that happens like the roughness around the edges where it's like he's doing it live like sometimes you're gonna have a tickle in your throat yeah and he was apologetic and uh professional about it. Do you remember it nine inch nails when like someone
Starting point is 01:15:04 fucked up the like like it just set just like broke for like five minutes and Trevresner was like on my going for fuck's sake yeah he was pissed
Starting point is 01:15:13 yeah I would be pissed too if I was like going to flow and I had to like stop for some tech thing yeah yeah and I guess finally on the Fat Boy Slim one
Starting point is 01:15:22 singing was in this music block uh huh um that's that had the comedy dial like tuned in hilarious funny shit
Starting point is 01:15:30 I was laughing. What is it with like 90s, um, like DJs kind of all like musicians like Fat Boy and Apex Twin who like their whole branding is like putting their faces on like weird shit and like making their faces all fucked up. Yeah. Well I think he's like he's like edgy as fuck Fat Boy Slim. He's like a troll. Like I really I loved it like he was flashing up like picks of Count Bin face. He was like um yeah. Yeah. I mean, like, Alex knows this about me, but I am a person that loves gloving. I love the art of gloving. For someone that, for someone listening that does not know what gloving is,
Starting point is 01:16:14 it's when you do these, like, crazy movements with your hand and you have, like, a glove with, like, light bulbs attached. This is all footprint. With, like, light bulbs attached to it, and you, like, do all this, like, crazy stuff with your hands. I love it. I find it so entertaining. and he had a whole section of gloving
Starting point is 01:16:31 and it felt like it was just for me. Yeah, he was for the crack guys. For the crack guys like me. And yeah, like in his in his visuals, like towards, I guess like the end because I think he played for about 90 minutes. Yeah, it flew by. Yeah, towards the end of the set,
Starting point is 01:16:47 he like put in this whole like graphic that came up and it was like, is this real? Is this real? We were like, oh my God, imagine being like peeking on us to you right now. Yeah. Yeah, it was funny as fuck. And it wasn't just pressing play, playing the classics. It was all like combining these like random songs. I did get upset at one of them. It was what underworld and fucking Mr. Brightside. But like everyone was so, you know what? The crowd was so, I love Mr. Brightside. The crowd was so overjoyed and happy about that.
Starting point is 01:17:21 Yeah, the Glover likes Mr. Britson. So what I'm admitting is I've got horrible days. No, I thought it was so wholesome. Like, I was like to Alex, see how Mr. Brightside unites the British public. Everyone was singing along, having the time of your life, and then there's Alex. Mr. Grumpy Guts. No, it was more the affront of, like, combining it with Born Slippy that was, you know, that was too much for me. Whatever. Well, they did, he did another combo, like, remix at the end, which was like a Rolling Stone song and a Beatles song over one of his songs. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 01:17:54 Was it right here right now? That was cool. Yeah. Yeah, and he did some cool political stuff. Can someone please, I keep like asking the comments to like answer questions that I can't find the answer to. Can someone please confirm for me if Fat Boy Slim is gay? Because he flashed up this, he could just be an amazing ally. But near the end, he like showed this like gay pride thing.
Starting point is 01:18:20 I tried Googling it, but I couldn't find it. And he also performed so I didn't see him, but some of my friends did. He also headlined Bright and Pride last year. So maybe he just is such an amazing ally, but I was just curious if he, maybe he's gay. Yeah, I mean, there was a lot of gayness like in the show. That was a lot of gayness in the show, yeah. Yeah, I don't know. I can't find anything.
Starting point is 01:18:44 Yeah, I couldn't find anything either. His Fat Boy Slim gay is now on my Google history. Shout out to Fat Boy Slim. Yeah, he's got a good face for all the, like, it was making me think of Tim. Yeah. Tim Swaps. Yeah, he's like your Tim. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:19:00 No, hang on. His, his like baby face swap thing is like your Tim. Yeah. His important man. Yeah, he, his O-C. He,
Starting point is 01:19:11 yeah, he had all these, like, fun graphics of him as like the Joker and like, some other, some other stuff.
Starting point is 01:19:19 Yeah, it was awesome. It flew by. We've been really spoiled with concerts recently. yeah yeah like a string of goats yeah all together yeah um it's i wish they didn't all come up once would be cool to like have like one a month or something instead of them all in one month yeah it's just the summer thing isn't it like when all the festivals and open-air stuff happens yeah i wonder if i mean
Starting point is 01:19:44 going back to david burns super quick with um like the sound and how amazing it sounded like i was trying i was trying to figure it out like kind of throughout the set and i don't know if i I'm not going to pretend I know anything about sound engineering, but I'm not sure if maybe it's because the set up of the castle is like, you kind of have like high, like we were in this kind of trough in between two kind of high walls or hills. And I wonder if that does well to hold in sound. Yeah, I don't know what it does to the acoustics. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:20:19 Yeah, it's just like the perfect size, I think. Yeah, for sure. It's, uh, it reminded me a bit of wazing a step. with the that was like kind of built into a hill yeah it was really good for the acoustics and like the sound the way it traveled it reminded me of that to you yeah those are definitely kind of the higher tier of sound quality for that scale anyway you know yeah it's about as intimate as you can get for someone like that kind of big yeah yeah yeah yeah fun crowd fun experience anything else you wanted to mention on MCR um I mean there's always stuff I want to mention on MCR um I think the the last
Starting point is 01:20:55 thing that I really noticed, having seen them in 2022 as well, was that the difference in the crowd's energy was amazing. I mean, I've, like, I'm from London, so I've seen a lot of shows in London. I have also seen quite a lot of shows in the north, because I just have happened to. And the crowd, so in 2022, when I saw them, it was, I mean, maybe it was just a weird time, because it was just after COVID. The gig was actually meant to happen, I think, in 2020. And then it got delayed to 2022. And it was just kind of, it was very weird energy.
Starting point is 01:21:38 I remember members of, for the record, like before anyone makes any assumptions, I am very respectful in concerts. Like, I grew up going to, like, punk shows and rock shows. And I know, like, I know, like, all the Mosh Pit Etiquet and all that stuff. I take it very seriously. It's not that I was being a day. people all around. Well, no, I just, like, I just don't want to, you know, I don't want anyone to think that I'm like some asshole, like, throwing myself around and being like, why is it what annoyed at me?
Starting point is 01:22:06 If you have hate for Randina, send it to Randina at Gmail.com. Please don't. Please. But, yeah, no, like, I take it very seriously and I'm very respectful. And, yeah, I just remember, like, moments in the crowd where, because I was about, I think I was about four rows from the front. And I was just having the time of my life. Like, they're my favourite band in the world. They mean so much to me.
Starting point is 01:22:33 And, yeah, there was a point where I started crying, okay? So I start crying. Like, multiple people turned around and looked at me like I was a fucking idiot. Like, they were, like, literally giving me the dirtiest looks because I was crying at my chemical romance. Like, come on, guys. Like, we're all emo here. So I had that kind of weird experience.
Starting point is 01:22:54 I wasn't sure if, yeah, I wasn't sure why. I was like, God, is this what concerts are just like now? Because it had been like three years since I've been to a show. There was a lot of weird energy that was like pent up. Yeah. And I remember like concerts were just weird for quite a while. But yeah, I wasn't sure what it was going to be like this time. And I was kind of telling Alex about that experience.
Starting point is 01:23:18 We got there. Oh my God, it was just incredible energy. Like, so, so amazing. everyone was having the time of their lives everyone was dancing like so happy um yeah it was i couldn't have asked for a more perfect gig the only thing that could have made it better would be if they had played some songs from bullets um because i saw that they did some songs from bullets in uh like the london shows and i am a bit but hurt about that but um that's a crazy nitpick dude no i know but like i'm just saying like it was it was amazing it was perfect like it was the best day of my
Starting point is 01:23:53 life but like that is the only thing like things can always be like there's always room for improvement damn okay randina well thanks for helping me with this section yeah of course any time next time you want to talk about my chemical romance give me a show um i guess i'll put you back in the mirror now okay guys please leave more comments and questions about my chemical romance so that i can come on and talk about it because um i already talk about them so much in my day to day and i feel like everyone's getting sick of me. Yeah, get out of here. Bye, bye, bye.
Starting point is 01:24:28 Thanks, Randina. Right, let's end on this one then from Phantom X. Hello, Kirkify, Xi Jinping here. I've been going to the cinema on my own for years now, which has been great up until recently. Usually, it's the most convenient way to watch a film to review it without having to drag friends along every single time. I go very frequently.
Starting point is 01:24:45 I went to see obsession and had some people in their young 20s my own age. Sort of belittlingly ask me, if I'm seriously here on my own. Never happened before, so I was caught a little off guard, but just wrote it off as a weird experience. It then happened again, not even two weeks later, watching the invite this time by some 30 to 35-year-olds. These incidents both happened in Bristol,
Starting point is 01:25:05 which is usually a lovely and accepting city. I haven't felt real anxiety in years, but this is sort of not my confidence a bit. Have you guys ever felt like a total fucking freak doing something like going to a concert or the cinema on your own? Bear bear. You shouldn't feel bad for that.
Starting point is 01:25:20 Like, they're just being dicks for no reason. There's nothing wrong with going by yourself. You can have really valuable experiences, and it shows a level of confidence to be able to do that. Those people probably would never do that, you know? Be able to just be by themselves and exist by themselves with their own company for a couple of hours. Oh no, what a crime. Yeah, weirdly childish. You'd kind of expect it from young 20s, but it's weird for 30-plus-year-olds to have, like, an issue with that, or make some comments.
Starting point is 01:25:50 comment about it. I don't think it's weird. If it's your hobby and you enjoy it, I don't think you should feel bad for Doing that like this is Genuinely a non-issue. They're the dicks. Don't let it hurt your confidence though. Keep doing that shit with a Your head held high. People just like gatekeeping to such an insane degree like there's always these ridiculous levels of detail to it. You can't just enjoy movies every it's not a positive people to be going out seeing movies in a group is fun and by yourself is fun different experiences both valuable in different ways but no you that one has to have an issue with the other can we just relax a little bit it's too much there's too much shit going on in this world to be mad about that kind of thing someone going to a movie by themselves although
Starting point is 01:26:36 yeah so you be you don't worry about that bullshit um and i'll stop this here i think this is just going to wind up being a you know decently long episode despite the weird way it was kind of put together so I hope you enjoyed it um kind of a kind of a different app but uh I'll see you next week for I hope you're ready because it's fucking unhinged
