Good afternoon, morning, evening or good night.
Ladies and gentlemen.
I'm Alex joined by Jim for Brocast.
This is, oh, I did have it, but I've lost it now.
Season 7, episode 31.
God damn.
Very, very deep into this episode,
and we have some stuff to talk about,
some stuff to address.
Some angry, angry, disappointed people out there.
Very furious people out there.
But before we do that,
let me shout out the patrons over the Jammedia Patreon.
that make the show and audio version possible.
You get the raw, unfiltered MP3 ad-free.
And you can put it on any RSS feed host of choice, you know.
That's a very nice little lovely thing you can do over there on the Patreon.
That's not all, though.
You get your Patreon names right out on the first or second week of each month.
If you're a debiterer above, we'll be doing that next week or I,
depending on how things work out.
We've been busy boys lately, and it's been proving difficult.
Other tier, though, we've got the jafter hours,
weekly supplementary show.
We were one behind, but
as of this week, we should be back up
today. We recorded two.
Two very nice little juices.
A Spider-Man discussion
as well as another little secret,
which you'll have to check out over on the
Patreon. But if that's not to your liking,
we did recently the Musk crashing out
video to that Economist
interview, a clip from that.
The best slash underrated jar
memes. The worst
jar memes, debating sinners, jar radio, creepy pasta readings.
There's so much over there.
Go check it out and enjoy.
And last but not least, the jar media group chat.
It's a group chat.
I'll pluck stuff for housekeeping when relevant and for the question section towards the end.
So unless you have anything, say we can go straight into housekeeping because we've got shit to address.
Okay.
Look, like I always say, haters are going to hate.
Yeah, so yeah, we're coming off the back of an already infamous, uh, Randy episode.
Crazy Frog gets the therapy or whatever the fuck it was called.
Um, and Pickles the random tune.
Can start us off here.
The first episode of the jar cast with no jokes, he said.
Um, or I'm in good Nick who said, family guy cutaway gag.
This is worse than this.
time the crazy frog got therapy
that's pretty good actually
okay
yeah there was like a whole thread on Reddit
from Captain Jackoff
that was like
God this is just the worst episode
Curry episode has it finally has met its match
Really?
Yeah
like it was quite controversial
I was kind of proud of it by the end
yeah
What did you like about it?
I liked the sort of freestyle kind of MCU type humor.
Yeah, yeah.
Yeah.
It's right behind me, isn't it?
Yeah, yeah.
That kind of energy.
It's right behind me, isn't it?
Well, Johnny Bongo Drum said,
Crazy Frog is insane.
He's in pain.
I can tell by what he's saying.
Yeah, that's so fucking accurate.
You know who said those words, right?
The Joker?
Close.
I'll give you that.
Dude Saul said, worst episode of JAR Media.
And Zibu replied to that saying,
this might be one of my favorites.
They really go into the bit.
I quote, like it, you, you, goddamn moron.
Yes.
See, it takes a mind, though, like that,
to kind of see the trees in the forest.
You know what I mean?
See the forest for the trees.
No, seeing the trees for the forest.
Ah, right.
ample agrees
and a noise
cloud wave said there's a legit
plot twist near the end
wow
was there
oh yeah
yeah Randy appeared
and showed why
he can't be on this ever again
and grass cowboy said
CIA agent interrogates clinically
unwell frog
and holy bloody
plot twist my jaw was flawed when Randy was flawed when Randy was
revealed so there's but there's like sects of like people on the patreon for some reason really hated it
really um but on youtube it was a bit more like positive and then on reddit they also hated it
so it's like it's like a war going on kind of like a avengers civil war okay kind of yeah
a crazy frog civil war yeah so is crazy frog captain america or tony crazy frog spider man oh okay
Under rules
Bing, Bing
Yeah
I could see that
Marta said
Seeing the heat wave is treating you lads well
Yeah
It's definitely coded that way
Yeah
And the Koi Sack said
This is the episode I decided to put on
To fall asleep while my girlfriend was round
I was drowning in secondhand embarrassment
But she said
I could get into this
Yeah this is
Every now and again we have to do like an onboarding episode
Yeah.
For freshies?
Yeah, for the freshies, the freshly born.
Yeah, for the fresh meat.
Cramm 64 said, holy fuck, this might be the best thing released in a long time.
But then to counter that, duck said, wow, this one's a tough listen.
Amazing work, guys.
And then tears don't fall, XD, so probably one of the best episodes in JAR history.
Interesting.
So getting quite mixed messages.
mixed messages.
Yeah.
John Fromez says,
I think Jarre has finally found
their niche after 10 long years.
Please just let every podcast be
Therapy's Gym,
helping more creatures like this trending frog.
Maybe we could get the gummy bear tapes.
I forgot about
Therapy's Gym.
I'm at Airport Gym today.
And Andrew Date said,
do either of you have siblings?
Would love to have a sibling episode.
I think so.
Dr. Worm official agreed with that.
Yeah, I guess we've got Randy,
but it doesn't really go well
when we all kind of are in the same room together.
Yeah.
A certain two sort of butt heads a bit.
Antigon says worse than Curry, possibly.
And Avedere said Curry episode actually has jokes.
What the fuck is this joke thing all about?
The curry episode fucking is awful.
It's fucking, if you thought last episode was unbearable.
Yeah.
Like that shit is like actually like horrendous.
Like, it's not a podcast.
You got rose tinted glasses on that one.
Yeah.
You got crazy frog.
You've got curry tinted.
You got fucking chicken vindaloo.
Tinted glasses.
Um, and see if you've said,
God, this sucks.
Can you upload the actual cast now?
And Lord Jagged said,
worst episode in the pod's history.
10 out of one.
keep it up. So yeah, very, a lot's going.
I was asked about this recently. Like, why, why are like 40% of the comments just like, this is the worst shit I've ever heard? Keep it up, guys.
Yeah. It's like, what do we take with that? It's, it's genuinely, um, like,
inspiring that
you can say anything but just say keep it up guys
it's like a funny way of like countering the negativity
bias thing
your mind transfixes on it but it's like
keep keep going
yeah it's like okay I guess we will
another 10 more years booked in
so I kind of wanted the
the main chunk of this episode to be like
just talking about some shit
we've been absorbing lately because we haven't done that in forever.
Yeah.
I've actually...
I think we both have a good, like, amount of shit.
We can just kind of take turns, I guess.
Yeah.
I don't know if you want to start where I'm trying to find one that could...
I saw a nice suggestion, but I'm being a ding...
Yeah, here we are.
This is from the group chat, actually.
Great Muppet Kaper is Peak Cinema.
said, we've not had a section on what you guys have been watching, playing, listening to, or reading for a while now.
Can you please get another one? Can we please get another one? And can the CBT formula be used to rate what you've been consuming lately?
So we could add that in there, sprinkle it in, give it a cringe base or tough. Oh, okay. Like the media gets a cringe based or tough?
Yeah. Okay. Yeah, okay. If that makes sense.
So do you want to start or should I start?
Um, I want to start with a quick aside because you, you have justified something for me that's, that today, without realizing it.
What's that? You don't even know yet.
Justified something.
Yeah, which made me, like, you know, the little jump where you like click your heels together.
Yeah.
Like, I pretty much did that.
Yeah, I did like a yippee.
Like freeze frame.
Um, we were talking about like the plan for today.
Yeah.
you know, organizing our separate lives.
You know, like, kind of like the timeline in Marvel, you know,
do you remember that scene in endgame?
Yeah.
And like, we, like, it's all these splintering timelines.
And then for a moment, they all came together.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
And because we, we agreed we were going to go to KFC.
Mm-hmm.
And you put KF chicken jockey.
Yeah.
And I've been, like, doing that joke to death.
Have you?
I mean, not joke.
I've been saying chicken jockey so fucking much.
So much.
I heard it on something else I was like listening to where it's like,
why did that even come up?
Yeah, yeah.
It's just like,
but I can't get it out.
Like,
yeah.
So,
and it's,
it's my partner who's been getting the brunt.
Right.
Of the chicken jockey stuff.
And was that why when you told me to send a text earlier,
you'd like signed off like,
like,
when you're a chicken.
Um,
yeah,
because it's,
it's like,
chicken jockey and then just shortened to chicken yeah yeah um jocky's implied yeah i forgot i'd done that
but yeah um so i'm so glad that came naturally from you was zero prompting yeah um
i thought you might like that it's been a problem because it's like we're having a conversation
and the the only thing like that comes to mind in retort is like working chicken jockey into a sentence
Like the final result of brain rock like that
Where it all goes is to chicken jockey
As the only thought
Yeah
But the thing is
The thing is she didn't know
What I was doing
Like she'd missed all the memes I guess
Does she know what chicken jockey is?
No
And I kept saying it and she was like
Like I'm looking it up then
And I was like no no no
You're gonna ruin it
You're gonna ruin it
And then we watched it together
like the whole scene
which I'd never seen before
are you serious
yeah
um
spoiler alert
I haven't seen the Minecraft movie
um
it's very much it
and
yeah
yeah
yeah yeah
so fucking shit
um
chicken jockey
and the thing is
we watched it
and I thought it was gonna like ruin it
no
watching it has just increased it in my mind and I cannot stop.
So that's what you've been consuming.
Yeah, because my shit is to take six month old memes.
Yeah, yeah.
You know, it's to take the shit that isn't funny.
So I'm gonna give chicken jockey a baste.
Sure, okay.
Wasn't expecting that to come back round.
Because just coincidentally, I really listened to our generalised awesome discussion on the
Minecraft movie.
Yeah, which you can access via the Patreon.
Well, that's just on the channel too.
It's on the channel as well now.
But you could have got it much earlier if...
Yeah.
Yeah.
So does that count as your one?
Yeah, yeah, your turn now.
I feel like I haven't had any, like, video games that aren't just like a live service to talk about in ages.
I've actually got a couple.
I want to start with Death Stranding.
Okay.
I...
I was playing it.
Yeah.
Um,
because I sent you this text just like,
yeah,
what the fuck is going on?
Yeah.
Yeah.
I was like,
maybe 40 minutes in.
And I was like,
what the actual fuck is happening?
Um,
you weren't that far in,
surely.
Um,
actually,
no,
that's valid.
Ignore me.
Yeah,
it really does.
It throws a lot of you.
It's been a while since I,
like,
first played it.
It was fucking what,
2019?
Yeah.
And for content?
text, I've, I've never played a Kajima game.
I've never played much. I'm not used to that cadence.
Yep.
Um, and the way like information is delivered because I've played, I just looked on steam.
I've got 10 hours on.
Okay.
On record. So I'm quite, I'm fairly deep into it.
I know it's shape now.
Yeah.
Like I understand the way things are like trickled out and like the gameplay loops and stuff.
Yeah.
But it did take a couple hours because like,
the story is really cool and intriguing and the imagery is really cool and the concepts are cool
yeah but the dialogue is like a lot yeah the dialogue is a lot the way they reveal shit to you
yeah yeah yeah yeah it's just gotten to a point where i just like skip a lot of it or just read
it yeah yeah yeah when you're getting like the phone calls and stuff i'd say watch the cutscenes
i watch i've watched every cutscene but when it's like clearly just them describing a concept
Dude, I'm telling you, you have to play the whole thing.
You have to finish it.
Yeah?
I mean, like, you have to see the, like, cutscenes throughout the whole game.
Because I'd say...
Does it get better as it goes along?
Yeah, and, uh, there are, like, revelations during, like, Hartman's chapter.
Um, Hartman named Hartman, because he has a heart-shaped heart.
Um, as in, like...
So, someone different from die-hard man.
Yeah, die-hard man.
It's called Die Hard Man because he's had a hard time dying.
Is that really what he's called?
You'll see, you'll see.
And there's also Hartman.
Heartman.
Yeah.
That's someone else, okay.
Is he called Hartman?
I don't know.
Troy Baker showed up with like a golden mask.
Yeah, so you've done...
Yeah, you've done the first boss.
The bosses are like the worst parts of the game.
Yeah, like that was one of the things that was actually
standing out to me, it was like, this is cool to be playing a game with this, like,
they're kind of his combat, but not really.
It's more like just trying to get around or away from combat.
I thought that was really cool.
And now I've got like the, like, the, like, assisted robot legs.
And I really like the visuals of that and like the mechanics of that.
And like the charging point shit is really cool.
Yep.
And like, so I'm, because I'm playing the, what, whatever edition.
The director's cut.
The director's cut.
I'm pretty sure you have access to some things that you wouldn't have.
Correct me if I'm wrong
Like I had a bike
Pretty early on
That someone had just like left
No that's just how the game was
That's just how it works
Okay
Yeah so I wasn't sure like
That means that another player
Would have got off that bike
Yeah yeah
It had like their name and stuff
Yeah yeah yeah
Yeah I just had that feeling like
Like it was
Yeah
It was supposed to have
It ran out of battery
And I didn't have the like
Way to charge it yet
So
I had to like abandon it
But the game flow loop's awesome
Like it looks incredible
It's one of the best looking games ever made
It looks fucking insane
It was one of the reasons I wanted to visit Iceland
Really like really well optimized
Oh yeah it runs beautifully
Yeah
And it looked good on a PS4
And it ran well on a PS4
Because I thought this was like from a couple of years ago
But it was fucking 2019
It was like seven years ago
I was like wow
Lord knows how good the sequel's gonna look
When I finally get around to that
And of course like
What really just got me in immediate
was the low raw stuff with i feel like i have quite a unique experience with that where like
yeah a lot of people fell in love with low raw thanks to the game yeah where i'm going in liking the
music yeah first because like i was around i remember you were you guys playing it um so kind of
picking up the music from yeah you guys finding it through that and i'm pretty sure didn't he put a low
raw song in a metal gear trailer or something like no it was a trailer it was a i'll keep coming was
like the main trailer for um yeah
There was some reason that it was like being played a lot around me and I attached myself to the music, but never any like
Context within the game and how that was used. So it was like a fun way for that to be yeah the the first like um
Needle drop while you're just playing mm-hmm is is like a thing of beauty that it just doesn't other than like red dead games
I don't know what other games have done that. Yeah true it's got a nice like playlist quality. Yeah and have you come across any of other people's like
buildings that are playing. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, they play, like, songs. Yeah, I like that. And if I'm, like,
if there's no plot stuff going on, I was sometimes, like, have an earbud in listening to something else.
Yeah, right. If I'm just doing something menial. But if, like, a song starts playing or a cutscene
starts, then I'm, like, paying. Lock-in moment. Yeah. Yeah. It is a fantastic podcast game.
And just, like, yeah, chill. Yeah. Um, it does, like, get quite skit, especially early on when you don't
really know like what the enemy shit is capable of yeah you have like you don't understand the mechanics
yeah and the understanding mechanics um it's like this is creepy man this is yeah yeah and it just has
like a really fucking weird sense of humor like the baby like like thumbs up shit like this is
loads of weird quits and like the the showering and then he like sits down and then like winks at
the camera and it's like what the fuck it's a weird shit like have you if you zoom in on his crotch
multiple times he punches the camera
it's got like a really strong like unique personality
yeah like the tech side with that weird
arm going yeah awesome awesome cool like how the mechanics of that
work there's something like really alluring about the aesthetic
um and like just like Guillermo del Toro being
it's like really fucking it's really weird
it works for the swiving graphing just like delivering information
and he's like yeah that's heart man I think
yeah that would make sense yeah
They're not actually voiced by the directors.
None of them.
I don't think so.
I looked up Guillermo because I was like,
there's no way he did this.
No.
It's just his face.
It will save, like, when the characters introduced, like...
Who did the vocal?
Yeah, who the voices and who the faces.
Yeah, because I was thinking, like, for the Guillermo character,
like, this is way too much.
Like, he's talking to you a lot.
Like, that would be a big commitment for someone, like...
Yeah.
I mean, he's one of, like,
he must have some of the most lines in the game, if not the most.
He's always talking to you.
Yeah, he is.
Yeah, and I'm intrigued by it.
I think it's cool.
It's weird.
Have you done the bit where, like, you have to get in the shower with Giyombe?
Not with him, no.
You have, okay.
There's lots of showering and, like, making grenades out of, like, your goo.
The thing is, I get weirdly, like, routineal when I'm playing the game.
Like, like, I'll use a certain amount of stamina and then, like, go to the private room,
and then like take a shit and have a shower.
Yeah, there will be like all these mechanical things that are like linked to it.
Like it refuel your grenade things and stuff like that.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
You get piss grenades and stuff and shit grenades.
It's like the piss grenades are the weakest, then it's shit grenades.
No, shower grenades are the weakest, then piss, then shit, then blood.
Yeah, I'm really liking it so far.
Gears of War is about to come out, so that's going to interrupt things.
Yeah, I'm kind of surprised
Really?
Yeah, I thought it would take more effort from you to get into it
But the thing is once you get to like the gamey part
It actually just kind of is like, go on then
Yeah, it's too like satisfying
I do need to warn you
When you get to kind of like the
The sandy tar pit area
Yeah
There's like a plot line with cutscenes that has like
like some of the worst acting in anything ever.
It's really fucking funny.
And if you like, you can read some of the emails like after, you know, you receive messages
from characters.
I don't expect you to read all that.
I don't.
But like the way that plot ends as well, once you get past it, we can like talk about it.
But just just prepare.
Like that bit is shit and I won't defend that bit.
Okay.
I'm going to more excited out.
Gameplay wise is fine.
Yeah.
It's not like anything annoying.
Uh-huh.
But story-wise, it's some of, like,
that I can't believe it made it into the final product.
Okay.
It's hilarious.
It's hilarious.
That is interesting.
I don't know.
I just like the, like, holding the triggers to, like, root your, like,
center of gravity down.
It's like a really cool event.
There's something intuitive about it.
The mechanical side of it was really, like, the backbone of it.
Yeah.
For sure for me.
Um, yeah, really cool, weird fucking shit.
And I'm so glad I started it.
Well, I love, I love,
I love that it turns like a hill into, because in real life, like, getting up a hill is a fucking pain in the ass.
Yeah, yeah.
Like, it takes a lot of physical, especially if it's like a steep, rocky, you know, and it's like turning the traversal between, like, missions of an open world game into the whole game.
Yeah.
I think it's genius.
And the risk reward kind of part of it, too.
Well, like, are you going to, like, plot a really, like, save baby rule?
Yeah.
Take some risks.
Do it a bit quicker.
Yeah, use more like items and yeah, it might cost more
Um,
yeah,
um,
you might end up damaging to cargo and getting a,
a lower score.
Um,
you might get snuck up by the,
was it,
be tees?
Yeah,
yeah,
yeah,
you might beached things.
That's what it stands for.
Yeah,
yeah, because like,
you clarified after I asked,
like, am I gonna ever know what the fuck is going on?
Yeah.
I was sure like, like, how much were going to explain?
And you were like, oh no, they explain.
And holy fuck,
they are explained.
Yeah, yeah. I think I said they explain an excruciating detail.
In the first 10 hours. Literally everything.
Maybe half of that 10 hours has just been like explaining shit.
Yeah, weirdly I don't hate it though.
Yeah. I thought that would piss me off more.
There's some, there's an air to the game because it's such an antisocial world everyone lives in.
Yeah.
It kind of makes sense that they all just are like super literal.
Everyone's name is just what they are.
I mean, but it's not all that different to like the, like, the,
last name's Smith. I just got that
because they were a blacksmith. Yeah, yeah.
Sam Porter Bridges. Yeah.
Yeah, he moves shit.
I think it works because it just takes itself so seriously.
And you have these actors that are just playing so straight.
Hannibal keeps appearing and it's like,
what the fuck is that going with Veeb?
Yeah. No, genuinely, his
plot line is, it makes the game.
And yeah, he just gives the most incredible performance.
and I love his fucking character
I love where all of that goes
Yeah that's a cool concept
They're like
These these babies
They were like
From mothers that are brain dead
Like harvested from brain dead mothers
And they have this ability
To let it's like
Yeah because they haven't been born
Because they're neither dead or alive
Yeah
So they can detect things that are in the space
Between being dead and alive
which are the beach things.
Yeah, yeah.
Yeah, that's a very cool concept.
Yeah.
And the,
the detail to which he explains everything,
it's like,
how did you come up with all of this?
Yeah.
I also think that, like,
the kind of black goo shit
and the,
the beached whales and, like,
beaches and shit,
and, um,
the whole,
uh,
COVID-era,
like connection,
or lack of connection and re-building connection.
Yeah, yeah.
But the fact that he came out 2019 before,
yeah,
right before it was even weirder.
because it feels like a reaction to COVID game.
It's really interesting from that perspective.
So yeah, I've really been enjoying that.
Yeah.
Did you have anything?
I really want you to finish it.
If you're talking about video games and PS4 video games,
I'll talk about PS4 video game.
I was wrong about Bloodbourne.
What were you saying before?
I just wasn't that halverated.
I would never have gone that far.
Um, but...
Did poo poo, they're like,
I don't get why everyone is like...
It's often at, like, the top.
Yeah, yeah.
Yeah.
Now I'm like,
is it better than Dark Souls?
Damn.
Yeah.
Wow, okay.
And you love Dark Souls.
I fucking love Dark Souls.
We've been playing that a bit, like,
yeah, yeah, co-op mod.
Yeah, the seamless co-op mod, which rocks.
Yeah, it's funny.
But, oh, man, Blood-Born.
So, you're, this is the furthest you've ever gotten.
Yeah, I'm, I'm, I'm,
deep into the D.L.C. I've just beaten Maria. I still think, and I don't know if it's because of how I play it,
so I might get some haters in the chat. But because I kind of obsessively, like,
especially with Dark Souls 1 and Bloodbourne had this thing where if you finish the game, it just restarts.
straight into New Game Plus.
Mm-hmm.
So then I'm obsessively trying to do every side thing possible.
Right, yeah.
Right.
And in Bloodbourne, there's all the Chalice Dungeons.
Yeah.
So I'm trying to get through, like, all of those alongside the story.
I thought they're, like, really difficult or something.
Oh, they get kind of stupid.
I haven't done, like, the Ailing Loran Chalice where, like, for the whole thing,
you just have 50% of your health.
Right, yeah, yeah.
Like, that's beat, and everything kills you in, like, two hits.
Yeah, yeah.
I haven't done that yet.
but I feel like from doing that, I'm kind of O-P.
Oh, right, yeah.
You're like over-leveled and...
Yeah, but at the same time...
That's fun that you can do that, though.
Yeah, and I feel like it's there for that purpose, kind of.
Yeah.
Like, that option is given to you, and you can just make infinite chalices, pretty much.
Do you know how, like, roughly what percent of the way through the whole game you are?
If you had to...
I'd say, like, 90.
Oh, shit, okay.
Yeah.
And I've gotten to 80% of the way through like twice.
Okay.
I've started so many playthrues.
I think primarily because Central Yarnum,
which is like basically the start of the game.
Yeah.
I've played that part a bunch of times.
It's unbelievable.
It's so well designed.
It is really like memorable.
That does stand out about that game.
But like there's one bonfire for the whole area.
Yeah.
And it's huge.
Everything's like looping background.
It feels like you're in them streets.
Yeah, you know, like the back of your hand after a little...
Yeah.
But even still, like, finding new things and finding, like, nooks and crannies and details.
Oh, I could have gone that way this whole time.
Yeah, yeah.
Yeah, yeah.
It's so cool.
And I've, like...
I've gotten into the law in a different way.
Mm.
And I feel like I understand it now.
more than i ever did before um and it's some of the coolest law it's some of the coolest like
aesthetics yeah for sure um the creature design the there is some like bullshit in the game
frenzy as a mechanic is bullshit um what does that do again so you know like frenzy flame from
It like builds up and takes a chunk of your health.
Yeah.
In Bloodborn, it feels like it takes like 80% your health.
Oh, right.
And after, if something is procking frenzy on you,
after it stops procking frenzy on you, it still goes for a bit.
Oh, right.
And it just feels like cheap.
Like an item or something you're supposed to know.
Well, I've, I've just designed my build around frenzy.
Not resisting it.
Yeah, I've got like a thingy that makes it.
So I've got like 200 plus fronty resist and you can wear armor that increases it even further.
Yeah, it's, it's, I'm obsessed with it to the point where like when I'm not playing it,
I've got like an airport in listening to law videos about it.
Yeah, yeah.
Because I just can't, I can't stop with it.
That's cool.
I wasn't expecting that.
I wasn't expecting it either.
But so what happened was I started to play through when I first moved into my flex.
I had no Wi-Fi and all I had was a TV.
I'd broken my PC.
So if I wanted to play a video game, it had to be the PS4.
And I'm going to pick a Fromsoft game.
And then I got to another like 80% of the way through and then fixed my PC and then just jump straight back on that.
But it was always there in my mind.
Would you be able to transfer that on to PS5 when?
Yeah, I'm pretty sure.
sure yeah yeah um okay yeah okay so um i can see myself like just playing it over and over and over again
to be honest it's it's that good um yeah i love it i love it nice yeah that is filling in like a
like a blind spot a little bit yeah especially if someone who loves from like you yeah yeah yeah
it will have to be demon souls next yeah um the remake unfortunately also
Also I want to shout out in this segment.
Bron games,
2007.
Yeah,
we've both played that.
We've both finished that.
And I just,
I don't know,
just call me off guard with like,
I just don't really care about James Bond that much,
but I really,
really won me over.
Yeah.
The scope of the game,
as far as, like,
how long it was.
Yeah,
it didn't take up too much of my time.
I enjoyed the variety of the levels,
the kind of hitman-esque kind of design chops in there.
Yeah.
Um, just a good old time.
Good old set piece kind of.
Yeah.
Yeah, it's a fun action.
It's like the best uncharted game ever made.
Do, hot tape.
Yeah, but like, it has like more engaging mechanics.
Um, I think the shooting feels better.
I love, I love like getting into a fight and you're like mixing between using your gun and like punching some dudes and then like, there's a bottle on the side and you just like launch it at a guy and then.
go and fucking all the animations are so slick yeah a lot of arkham dna in there yeah a lot of arkham dna
that's what i was um most surprised by and i think a younger me with more time would have sunk
hours hours and hours into the like sim yeah yeah because it's like the challenge my thing just
like the arkham game yeah yeah yeah the same way basically pretty much yeah exactly the same um
yeah and i just couldn't escape the feeling of like man if they get to make another one of these
I just feel like that's going to be like a she, like a type game.
Yeah.
Yeah.
They kind of nailed it, like the music and.
Yeah.
And gadgets and shit like it really fun.
I thought the, they are really fun.
And I thought the, the plot was like, good.
Yeah, I was way more intrigued by that.
I thought it was more just going to be like a string of set pieces.
Yeah, yeah.
I wasn't expecting to actually be engaged and.
Yeah.
Unfortunately, it was a bit woke for me, though.
Yeah.
He's really taking commands from a woman.
James Bond.
Yeah.
That's kind of feminine of him.
So I deduct some points for that.
Yeah.
There's also way too many not white people in it.
Well, yeah, that just goes without saying, you know?
Yeah.
So, yeah, I would wreck that even to people who don't really care about Bond that much.
I don't give a shit about James Bond.
Yeah.
There's like one good James Bond.
It was making me, like, want to go and, like,
watch some of the movies and stuff like yes it was doing that thing i i had that and then i started
watching uh not specter the one after spectre and i was like it was making me want to watch like
the campy like dumb shit yeah yeah i love like like the the rocket watch just shoot like a
fucking missile out of your rocket your watch it makes no sense yeah so like and there are a lot of
those films i've just kind of been intimidated by how many they're yeah it's a start yeah and
they're not like numbered at all
It's just like...
Yeah, and it doesn't really matter to you much.
There's not like...
No, they're all self-intaned with it.
Apart from the Dono Craig ones.
Kind of.
Yeah.
So, with more time, I...
I feel like I could get a lot out of Hitman.
If I like this.
Hitman's so good.
It was just, I don't know.
I'd had that itch for a while for one of those 10, 12-hour, like, games.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Isn't like a whole, like, commitment.
You know, it's not like,
online component really yeah there's nothing just like grabbing you and saying you must only play
this yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah just good level variety you could set piece design um yeah just really
dug it really like uh young dexter being bond yeah he was great um he's swath charming it's got like
stupid points and yeah it just doesn't take itself too serious yeah and i love the fight with the
twins.
Yeah, that was good.
That's such James Bond shit.
I guess, um, kind of like
Death Stranding though, I think the boss
fights are probably the weakest part
for me.
Um, are there multiple boss fights?
I can, yeah, yeah, you think of them.
Yeah, there are. Um, I guess they, a lot
of the time, they're just kind of more set pieces.
Yeah.
I thought the, um,
the, the,
the first, like, big main set piece where you like,
drive the car, arrive at the,
airport like get onto the fucking plane and then you're like controlling the plane and then jump
out of the plane and you're like it it it was like oh uncharted did a plane thing let's uh
just make it way more fucking insane let's just like yeah and put like more mechanics into it
yeah yeah at the same time when you're controlling the plane yeah and all the cover moves like yeah
that was really cool and you can like squash people it's yeah it's so cool that was really satisfying yeah
Um, so yeah, check that out if it sounds like something you might like. Um,
do you have anything else you wanted to shout out? Um, I've started reading absolute Batman.
That's right, yeah.
Without spoiling anything, so I want to read it. Yeah. Um, what would you say about it?
It's fucking gnarly. We haven't been doing CBT on these.
Fuck, yeah. I would give Death Stranding, uh, based cringe. Yeah.
it has to have cringe something
I'd even say
it might be a rare cringe based hub
it's got like all elements
yeah
depending on like
I love it it is tough
when he's coming up on the elevator
and he's like
and all his gear and shit is tough
it is yeah
and like the hood coming up
when it's raining and yeah
the arm and stuff
yeah that shit's tough
um
what I give
07
tough
maybe cringe tough
yeah cringe tough it definitely
it is cringy
yeah like the little
montage shit at the beginning
like it's cringe
oh that was awesome there
yeah it's fantastic
it's great
that was such a good idea
yeah I love that
I shout out weeks back
but yeah
it is cringy as well
but like tongue and cheek
cringe
yeah yeah campy
we know we're being cringe
you know you're at fucking
spy school.
Yeah.
Cringy.
But they're not like embarrassed of it.
No.
No, it's full purse.
It's full purse.
It's the way to make it work.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Bloodbourne is fucking
base tough.
Yeah.
It's it's definitely tough.
Definitely tough.
But also like the, the, the, the way it like,
resonates with, um,
human nature, like the religious angles and...
Existentialism.
Even, dare I say, a bit of like class commentary.
Wow, okay.
Yeah, I don't know enough to.
It's fucking cool, man.
It's tough based.
It's based tough.
Okay.
What was your other one?
Did you have another one?
That was all Deaths Channing and Do you?
Yeah, yeah.
So yeah, Absolute Batman.
Absolute Batman is obviously fucking tough.
Yeah. It's it's so fucking tough. It's it's it's I love it. It's actually the first Batman comic
I've read I own multiple comics, but I haven't really they that because they're kind of like the omnibus like
full thick thing. It's more intimidating whereas I've been getting just like the the smaller volumes the volumes. Yeah and that's more bite-sized. I kind of prefer a absorbing
comics that way.
So I had like absolute
Spider-Man as well, which I enjoyed.
But nowhere near as much
as I'm enjoying absolute Batman.
And I'm like halfway through the second volume.
And like the
where they've taken this character already is like
I didn't know you could do this with Batman.
I didn't know you could...
I didn't know you could do this with Batman
and still have him be so Batman.
if that makes sense.
Like, it's such departure,
but it's so true.
Mm-hmm.
To what it is.
It's not like a billionaire anymore.
No.
That's what, like, the angle I'm really interested in,
because that's, like, kind of his biggest issue as a character, like, recently.
Yeah, how do you...
How do you make him, like, cool with that?
I do want to see...
Them figure something out with that,
with that still being a part of his backstory.
Um...
but I don't know how you do it
without him
like giving his money away
because I've been reading these
I've been like I've rewatched the Dark Night
I've rewatched half of the Dark Night Rises
I watched Batman Begins not that long ago
so I didn't watch that one
and yeah
I forgot what my grander point was
but the billionaire shit in those films
is there like a narrative hook quite quickly
like a mystery
yeah
an overall
It's
it,
it,
it,
it,
the,
the way it's paced out is very satisfying.
Um,
because it's like,
it doesn't like,
have,
like,
build a mystery and then just never get to it.
It's like,
it's pace so that it's like mystery and then mystery resolved,
but there's like another mystery that follows,
but also like there's an overarching plot that seems to be feeding into something.
And there's, as far as I've got to, there's been something alluded to, like, a character that knows more than he's previously let on.
But that's the current, like, carrot on the stick.
What's your favourite character at the moment?
Favorite villain?
Favorite villain?
Bain, I think.
Really?
Cool.
Yeah.
that's cool
because I don't actually know the twist
for what they did to Bain
and
he's just like even bigger
that's kind of
like everything
yeah
um
that's funny
no the way they introduce
Bain
um
is
just the aura
like the
I didn't
I didn't realize
comic books
had the source
like this, you know?
I didn't know they,
uh,
they were that saucy.
Yeah,
it's like really leaned into the style and Batman's really good for that.
Like,
yeah,
just doing like crazy shit and having the,
the axe is really cool and.
Mm.
Yeah,
because,
I mean,
this isn't a spoiler,
but like when it got to a part where he like,
chop someone's hand off with,
with the axe,
it's like,
it goes there.
It's like,
oh,
Batman's like doing this.
Is it violent then?
Yeah.
It's funny, it's, it's like ridiculously violent.
But every swear word is like answered.
Yeah, I'm excited to read it.
Yeah, the only thing is, I did notice a weird difference in like issue one of volume two in terms of the artwork.
Yeah, that often happens.
Yeah, Bruce suddenly looks like a telitubby for like one episode.
He looks like an anime, like, um, you know, like the, the typical kind of almost sumo
aesthetic.
Yeah, yeah.
Where it's like the tiny eyes and like a tiny mouth.
Um, and he didn't look strong.
You just looked kind of round.
Okay.
For like, for one issue.
Maybe they're like a guest artist or something.
Yeah, but it, not that it looked bad.
It was just like, this looks softer.
Yeah, just changing the style.
Yeah, then you flip the page and the next panel.
is someone like they're just bleeding out of every pore of their body and like explode into
like a bunch of blood and it's like this is fucking like what's going on but yeah you've got to read it
you i love how digestible it is um and the the way they play with different characters um to kind of
subvert where you think it's going um yeah very curious about mr fruze and what
the photo. Yeah, I don't know where that's going to go because I don't want to say too much.
Is there more than just a creature of the weak formula? Are they like more like reason?
So I really know nothing. No, it's, I know the visuals, but I don't know why.
It's like a, yeah, it's a full on like plot. Like, I, I, I, there's been rumblings about there
being a like animated TV show for it.
I think that's...
And I really hope it does become a thing
because if it's done right...
Yeah, like it...
Right animators on there.
Yeah, and there's some shit that, um...
I don't know, it could be interpreted as...
as corny.
And like, it's...
It's a comic book.
Like, it's...
Needs it to a certain degree.
Yeah, it needs...
It needs to be self-aware, but not self-referential.
like it um it plays with the batman formula in a way where it's like you're you're just warping
what is already like established yeah yeah in batman law um it's it's hard to explain when you
haven't read it at all but that sounds cool as far big big recommend um if if for nothing else
just the artwork um um yeah and if you're a fucking edge lord that loves that
kind of shit.
Fuck, yeah.
It's four years.
Yeah, it rocks.
That's, yeah, that sounds sweet.
Yeah.
Well, you've got volume one now.
Yeah, yeah.
I've lent it you, so I expect that to be read by half 11 tonight.
And last thing, unless you had anything else you wanted to bring up.
No, go on.
Unless you want to save it.
I just wanted to shout out the, I watched the whole Evil Dead trilogy.
recently
I'd seen one and two before
a really long time ago
and just hadn't
revisited them
I think
Ivo dead too has
maybe like
one of the best shots of all time in it
really? Which one?
I'm not sure where Bruce Campbell
starts dancing with the laugh
it's
so funny
Like I was like scream laughing at that shit
It's so fucking unhinged
Yeah
And just having the balls to do that
Yeah
It's like God this really works
Especially because the first one felt like
It's kind of taking itself seriously
Yeah
And then it's a different vibe
Yeah
It's not like his tongue and cheek
Yeah
We want to scare you
We want to like gross you out
All this blood and shit
Yeah
Yeah
It's just like
I want this to be more of a cartoon
Yeah
And then you haven't
Army of Darkness.
No.
Would you recommend it?
Oh yeah.
Holy fuck.
Okay.
It's like, if you like that cartooniness of the second one, yeah.
The whole thing is just a ridiculous cartoon.
Okay.
Like a live action cartoon down to like there being like cartoon sound effects.
Right.
Like it's fucking absurd.
But like an amazing like comedy in the scale of it is huge with all the like fantasy
set.
Yeah.
It's like, oh, it's so fucking good.
Really, really good comedy.
Yeah, I was creased up on
They were there two
Yeah
And I like all three of them for like different reasons kind of
Two I think is the best one
Yeah
I think everyone's kind of an agreement
Yeah
On that
Grinch based or tough based
It's um
It is based
The imagery of like the chainsaw hand
And the shotgun
The shotgun
Yeah
It's fucking metal.
It is.
It's kind of tough.
Yeah, it is tough.
I love...
It's kind of all three.
Yeah.
I love, um, I love just the, the use of that, like...
In the set, they have the, like, trapped door.
Yeah, yeah.
It's like a recurring motif, kind of.
Yeah.
There's always, like, someone trapped in them.
Yeah.
Screaming from inside it.
And, like, am I right in thinking someone's, like, fingers get, like,
stamped off or something
with their hands
there's lots of hand shit
and like
yeah
his hand like turns evil
and like
yeah that's why he leaves
yeah that's right
it's like the whole
stop motion
like creature at the end
because I told my parents
to watch it
yeah
um
and I was there
when they watched it
and I just stuck around
for like the last half hour
um
and
Like, watching their reaction compared to mine
Was, like...
Because I think they went in expecting, like,
something kind of more serious.
Right.
But Dad was obsessed with the, like, him fighting his own hands.
Yeah.
You know, as he would be.
And Bruce Campbell's performance is just so fucking funny.
He should get an Oscar for that.
He's, like, so good in all of them.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
But that second one, he's...
You like, Harry's the whole thing, really.
Yeah.
he's like the funniest guy of all the time in the scenery but like he's just got like the look and like that
like the costume design and oh it's so good um yeah i couldn't really recommend them enough
yeah sam ringing man he's just the goat he is the goat yeah so anything else you want to shout up before we
transition into the question segment um i've watched the Minecraft movie
We'll see after these passages.
Rankers on PS5, out now.
PlayStation.
This is wild.
Play a shun de hur.
Downloading wankers on my Xbox.
Which one is Bart's real scream?
Check please.
Fee.
Hey, boy, look away, look away.
Ample man and chicken jockey working like their friends.
Welcome to the second of the cast.
We answer some questions from the J.R.
Community.
Head over to the suggestion thread over on the subreddit.
I thought it was the Suggestion thread.
Well, yeah, it kind of depends.
Like, what part of the country are from where you emphasize the sub and sugested.
There's also some stuff from the group chat on Patreon as well.
Like this one from Mr. Blue Pumpkin, who can start us off.
You know what you need to address?
I for one think it was a fire episode.
Bear Bear Jar, writing to ask if you guys had ever shouted at someone in a cinema screening before.
I know Alex came extremely close in a screening of Hereditary.
I'm saying this because during a screening of Spider-Man, good movie by the way,
a duo was non-stop talking above me at their normal volume and it was driving me up the wall.
It got so bad to the point where they were full-blown talking and laughing during quiet scenes.
I don't mind noise in movies, essentially for Marvel movies, but this is driving me up the wall.
So with a mouthful of popcorn I shouted,
O'y mate, can you stop talking please?
And to my surprise, they stopped completely
or reduced it to hushed whispers.
Nice.
Also wish me a luck, I'm travelling to the shithole that is London
as I write this.
I will miss my cozy north for the weekend.
Good luck in London.
I nearly had to during Spider-Man
because of course was a packed screening.
And there was this row of like three or four girls
that were just like,
they were treating it like their living room
which fucking pisses me off
because it's like
just wait a month
and you can watch it in your living room
with your friends
and like as much noise as you please
Did you start launching knives at them
And what was ironic is that
my seat was at the end of an aisle
And I was sat next to a literal
Like he must have been fucking five years old
Like a little boy
Who was like going like
Mom
Where's Hulk?
But whenever he was
Whenever he was like doing something like that
I was like hell yeah
Yeah
His experience was literally like you sing Spider-Man 2.
Yeah.
In the same theater.
Oh my God.
So like it must have been mind-blowing to him.
So I didn't mind that at all.
He's a fucking five-year-old.
Yeah.
Whereas these were like, they weren't five years old.
They were like there by themselves.
They were fucking.
Yeah, yeah.
They should have known better.
Yeah.
Did you launch your fucking mega bucket of Dr. Pepper?
Adam.
Yeah. And hereditary was the only previous time where...
What was the hereditary one?
After, without spoiling it, you know, early on, there's the scene involving the lamp post.
Yeah.
Again, it was like a group of teenagers who like scream laughed when that happened
and just weren't taking it seriously.
I'm just being dicks and like 10 minutes after that just left.
Oh.
So it was like, oh, cool.
You're just like ruining the experience for a bunch of people and then just leaving.
and like you just have no investment
so that's cool.
Horror movies are always risky for that.
Right.
The thing is I go to the cinema so rarely
I'm gonna have less experiences like that.
Yeah, yeah.
My Spider-Man viewing was cool.
Glad to hear it.
Yeah, everyone was chill.
When I saw the Batman, everyone was chill.
When I saw Avatar 2, everyone was asleep.
A sleepy audience.
Yeah.
Yeah, I can't remember the last time I was annoyed in a cinema, to be honest.
Oh, I've been annoyed plenty of times, but usually by the movie it more so than the...
Yeah, but maybe if I'm...
Maybe if I'm not getting pissed off by other people.
I'm the one pissing people off.
Yeah, maybe.
I do...
You're slurping and slurping.
Yeah, I crunch and slurp and just keep loads of...
bags of really loud things to open.
Not to rustle it.
Yeah, and make sure you don't open it before the film starts.
You've got to do it during a quiet dialogue scene.
Yeah.
That's when you decide you have the hunger.
Yeah.
And then I fucking shit myself and cough and sneeze and stuff.
You get a kernel stuck in your throat.
Yeah.
Whereas I'm the motherfucker like timing the popcorn bite with like an action scene.
There's a explosion quick.
Yeah.
Or the guy who did the fart in the, the Oppenheim Explais.
Oh, yeah.
Oh, my God.
What an asshole.
Yeah.
So, yeah, luckily, not too many bad ones.
Chicken, chicken, chicken.
Real I am says, please, please, please react to Ricky Jave's new cat show.
Wow.
So.
He's releasing like this Netflix show.
I guess it will be out by the time this goes live.
But I'm just going to play you the audio from the trailer.
See how cringy this is.
Ali Katz it's called.
What does this look like?
It's like adult animation.
I was expecting it to look slightly worse, but it still doesn't look good.
Yeah, right.
Zero fucks.
That will fucking day, man.
Jesus Christ.
So you like, you're going to watch it.
Do, do, do, do, do, do, do.
I think, um...
The music's good.
I'm just...
I'm just not interested in anything he really makes.
I'm not really interested in anything he says.
Yeah, and that.
I'm not really interested in who he is.
He's...
Yeah.
I'm not really interested in him.
He's kind of...
He's coasted off the office.
It was so long.
Yeah, his bit is like...
Pretty fucking stale.
Look, just leave me alone.
I'm fucking having a hard go of it all right.
but that's just that every
it's like extremely sentimental
but like lacks of self-awareness
or something
yeah like there's something off with his writing
because I watched that
that other Netflix show where it's like
oh my wife died and I'm sad
to the show
and there was something really kind of like amateurish
about the way it was like written
um it's kind of um
it's like self-insert
yeah yeah i'm i'm always right
all the guy at the pub is come to tell me that i i can't have like a kid's meal
oh why can't i have a kid's meal i'm i'm gonna eat the same amount as a kid
so why can't it's against policy what was the point of the policy that it's like
who gives a fucking shit man this is like this is the boring shit when i'm having like a bad
shower yeah that's like the shit i'm coming up with you know normally i'm cooking shit
a bit spicier than that in the shower yeah it's like he's like he's
having arguments with himself
Yeah, yeah.
I keep getting this clip
or I used to keep getting this clip
of him with like he's got like a can of soup
and these kids are like,
oh, give us some money, would you?
And he's like, oh, just fuck off kids.
I'm just having like a hard time.
Oh, that's from that show.
I remember that.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
And then they're like,
oh, we'll kill you.
And he's like,
I'll bollock you with this fucking soup.
And then he smacks one of them
and he's like, right, just leave me alone.
okay i just want to go home it's like you yeah what the fuck is this there is something kind of
like masturbatory about it yeah yeah he he he he postures is he does the comedian thing um like
jimmy kaff is fucking doing it as well where it's like comedians and philosophers kind of seem
to have a lot in common sort of thing it's jay ragan like wrote the playbook on that yeah um it's
Yeah, it's like he thinks he's a writer as talented as like Larry David or something.
He also thinks he's like a theologist.
Yeah, right.
As that epic picture of him on the cross.
On the cross.
Yeah.
Yeah, he needed Stephen Merchant, I think, to be working with him.
That was one of those, like.
Stephen Merchant was the brains behind the organization.
Kind of.
Yeah.
I'm the brain bwine, boy and there was like an office special thing talking about like interviewing like the actors and people on it like how many years late, the 20 year anniversary or whatever it is.
And Stephen Merchant wasn't in it and wasn't mentioned once, which is quite weird.
It's like I don't know what the bad blood is there and what happened, but it's kind of like they needed each other.
You know, that happens sometimes.
I don't know.
Stephen Merchant was in Logan.
Yeah, in Portal 2.
His standalone stuff is like better than Ricky Chavez.
Oh, it's way better.
He's a better actor.
He's like equally as, you know, he's not like fucking Christian Bale or he like transformed into another person.
Neither of them are.
But like Stephen Merchant seems to have a better, like his fingers on the pulse.
Like he, he doesn't really show up unless it's something.
something worth doing whereas Stephen, sorry, not Steve, um, the fat one, Ricky, um, is just like,
oh, I'll just write some cringe shit and shit it onto Netflix and then complain about how I
can't say anything.
Yeah.
Shut the fuck up, you rich, cunt.
He's like, and he's like, there's rich and then there's fucking Ricky Jerva rich, like,
yeah.
That office money is like, like, he, let alone everything else.
rich.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Oh, but I'm just a guy.
Same things.
I think that's kind of the issue is like...
They don't get it.
He was a bit more of a normal person when he wrote the office.
Yeah, yeah.
What he was parodying was, like, more connected to it?
We're now, like, what is the reference point?
Yeah.
Well, he might have a cat.
You might have a real rich guy.
You might have a few cats.
Yeah, yeah.
Yeah, it's funny that.
Well, Shady Lady eats gravy says, first-time question.
I recently graduated from university with a university with a few guy.
degree in film studies but still don't feel like I know enough to give my opinion publicly.
How do you overcome this hurdle and have such in-depth discussions about art without feeling
like an imposter slash fake fan slash not enough Noah?
Bear-bear Kentish jarling from over there.
You have to get more degrees.
Yeah, I think for every degree you get, the more words you know.
Yeah.
So then your opinion's more valid.
Then you sound smarter so people listen.
Yeah.
The answer is like you...
You don't need...
You have a voice, use it.
Yeah, it's an opinion.
It's an opinion.
Having...
When it comes to opinions, having a degree doesn't fucking matter.
Yeah, and like, as long as you're being honest
and not like, kind of fake what you're talking about
or, like, trying to posture as something you're not.
Even though, like...
I don't know.
You do have...
the option of just like pretending to watch films pretending to watch films and just like
trying to gauge like culturally where it's going to sit and that's also one of the tactics is like
just decide how you feel about the film before watching it and make a video yeah
ideally off of political reasons off of one trailer yeah um yeah um yeah you're definitely
overthinking it um look look you got two options right you either do nothing
nothing and never do it and then that's it or you try and you put your voice out there
um and yeah you might get a comment you don't like or like disagree with somebody but you also
might find someone who agrees with you or likes what you're saying and um there's always going to
be at least one person who agrees yeah and one that disagrees even if there wasn't that's the joy of
it though who gives yeah who gives the shit i could have sworn i brought this
one up last time but outfishing seven says why did jim stop engaging with jar like he used to why doesn't
he host anymore or get to pick questions does something happen in twenty twenty four come to jesus moment jar
spill your beans now 2020 what did i used to do that yeah i don't remember you hosting or like if
every now and again like he did pick questions it would be like a a whim like oh you open the reddit on your
phone like it wasn't like a regular thing was it i don't
think and I mean I probably just read the curated ones that you'd put on the iPad if I did do that
I'm I'm like not organized enough um yeah I don't know what they're getting at is something
happened in 2024 as if this was a regular thing I yeah I don't know I don't know either
yeah um revert to monkey as a little anecdote when I was seven my mom took me to her work
tax office.
What's that?
To pick something up,
but I met her boss.
I think he was trying to relate to me
or maybe he hated me,
but he said,
I've got something funny for you,
watch this.
And he pulled out his phone
and after a minute of buffering
of buffering played a video for me.
It was crazy frog.
And probably one of the first YouTube videos
I ever saw.
I didn't laugh or find it funny at all.
I watched with a stone face
the entire time that he pointed
his phone screen towards me.
I didn't know how to feel about
what I was watching.
to this day I still don't know how to feel about that music video
I think that's a fair reaction it is emotionally confusing
it's baffling it is baffling I haven't had that word for a little while
what brilliant utilisation of baffling
I remember like that's a really like relatable experience
because I remember basically having that exact same thing
we're like watching that for the first time and it being like
what's like the opposite of a come to Jesus moment
Yeah, come to hell.
Yeah, where you're like, you can't look away.
Yeah, I had that more so with the gummy bear.
The gummy bear fucking piss me off because...
They definitely cut from the same cloth.
Yeah, yeah, but there was only, like, actually, like, 15 seconds of animation,
and they'd just, like, edit it all together.
And it really fucking piss me off the way he, like, he'd, like, do that bounce thing,
and then he'd do it from, like, a different angle, but it was just the same thing mirrored.
Like it, that shit pissed me off
I hate the gummy bear
I prefer crazy frog
Do you actually
I prefer crazy frog to the gummy bear
I think I pro gumi
Not just because he's German
I hate when he speaks at the end as well
He's like, I'm gummy bear right on tour now
Yeah
It's like who the fuck is going to see gummy bear on tour
What are you talking about?
I would to be fair
Yeah you would but
I'm supposed there
there wasn't more of like a crossover thing with those early guys.
They hadn't invented crossovers yet.
Yeah.
Endgame hadn't happened yet, Alex.
You just don't really get that kind of shit on YouTube anymore.
Why the fuck would you?
Nobody wanted it then.
Everyone wanted it then.
That's because we had nothing else.
We had nothing.
Those days were dark, man.
No, those days were light and full of hope.
And like torture.
No, that's now.
No, no, you can't act like...
There wasn't gore on YouTube.
We're not talking just YouTube.
I guess, you know.
I don't know.
When's the last time you saw like a gore video?
Oh, um, yesterday.
Really?
Yeah, because of that guy.
I don't know if it was like real or whatever the info was.
It was like, um, someone apparently went,
and blanking on their name went live on TikTok
and we're having some kind of like
psychotic breakdown and were like
slicing themselves up or something
fucking hell it was something quite intense like that
I mean yeah there's loads of it on
I kind of made a pack to myself
after seeing the guy with a screwdriver in his cock
that I just like would never
never I can't I hate it I fucking hate violence
unless it's Spider-Man and the Hulk
fucking
or it's like
conquest
yeah yeah that shit
no even that shit had me like
feeling sick
yeah I felt a little bit nasty and I
I was
that shit got me to the point where I was like
I'm just going to look away for a second
yeah
that's funny
yeah I'm kind of squeamish
hmm
yeah
and I feel like
like you should be.
Yeah, you should be.
If you reach a point where you're no longer squeamish,
then you need to like...
Did you see...
Analyze.
Warfare?
No.
I don't know...
I don't know if I want to.
It's definitely worth a watch.
It's fucking in tantus.
Yeah.
It's kind of...
Kind of copaganda, though.
I'd be curious you'll take on that,
actually, if you watched it.
Really?
Yeah.
I like to Dangle says,
on the topic of Jim's childish, small,
and frankly embarrassing,
consumption of mainly YouTube shorts how do you decide what's worth your time and what to ignore
since most of my time is occupied I really try to watch three movies a week an hour or
two of stuck porn each night and reading for a minimum of 30 minutes each day
so I completely neglect new TV and music and video games and YouTube videos now
all things I was voracious for in the past okay I'm not saying any of them
don't offer anything to those
who choose to partake, I just find
they were either a net negative on my life
or that I don't have time for them.
How do you choose?
Also, Jim, cut out
a few goon sessions of YouTube shorts
and watch Andor Season 2.
No.
Um,
I think he's specifying stuck porn
is so funny.
Yeah, that's some good shit.
That's, yeah, that's off, that's off.
Um.
The own, honestly,
out of, um,
I feel a sense of nourishment when I look at my music collection and there's new stuff and there's new music I've been enjoying.
Yeah, if I've, if I'm like heavy rinsing a new album or something, that's good.
That's fulfilling.
Yeah.
I also feel like if I've finished.
But it has to be natural.
You can't force like a rinse like a rinse album.
Sometimes they're like weeks will go by and it's like, man, I just, I'm, this.
I'm in a music slump.
It's like, just not being scratched by anything.
Yeah. I'm currently in a, I'm like enjoying a lot of music.
Really?
But it could be that. It could be, you know, like a show.
Like I just finished Widows Bay and found that to be like, oh, fuck.
I think you really like that too.
It's about like a little, um, a little island, very reminiscent of like Jersey Island.
And it's like, it's kind of like a hot fuzz sort of tone, but a bit more serious.
Like it's a horror comedy.
Yeah.
small town vibes and kind of like a jaws type mayor who like just doesn't want to believe that like any fucked up shit's going on right but it's like actually scary horror as well oh i can um yeah i really love that and i find that like rewarding or like a movie or something yeah but when it's um there are even youtube videos where if i've like watched through it and it felt like i learned something or oh my god an opinion i hadn't heard before yeah the only one that feels like
feels like that I just wasted my time is shorts.
Yeah, yeah.
It's never worthwhile.
It's like empty calorie shit.
But the...
Unless sometimes you can find a cooking one.
Yeah, that's true.
That's kind of like the only thing shorts should be legal for.
But even then, I find it a really annoying format to actually like, when you're cooking to like follow.
It's really fucking annoying.
Yeah, yeah.
It's a bad format.
It's not designed for that.
No.
But yeah, I, I...
To be honest.
um
YouTube is
is pretty good for like education
yeah if you've got a curious mind
yeah especially history
history it's really good like um
like animals and
yeah yeah like ecosystem stuff yeah and science
also people building like miniature
kitchens for like gerbils and stuff
yeah really good for that
there's that dude who's like
he's like
he's like torturing
a tick that he captured
and it just like won't die
yeah
yeah
I believe something about this
is that what inspired you to start
collecting ticks no this was
I saw that after the tick dish
yeah yeah yeah no more ticks
lately luckily
I kind of like ticks I've come around on ticks
no they're a bottom tier
fucking bottom feeder
You know what I have
This might blow your mind
What's that?
I'm kind of coming around on spiders
I've always been on spiders
No I know but I mean for me to
That is big for you to say
Why is the sky like green
Oh
It's not
Maybe your eyes are fucked up
No that's green dude
It's like turquoise
Maybe the Hulk just went rage mode
The Green Goblins power lines
He's gone to like the local nuclear reactor.
I'm going to add my pumpkin greens.
Back to formula.
Back to formula.
Yeah.
I love the green goblin, man.
Yeah, he's funny.
Do you prefer the green goblin or do you prefer Dr. Octopus?
Doc Ock.
I feel like Doc Ock has more like flexibility.
Like literally, yeah.
You can just do some really,
fucking weird shit with him.
You know, I'm something of a scientist myself.
A fun lavishness
says, how do you trust
yourselves as critics? I just
listen to an episode from 2022
where Alex and Jim talk about
how Book of Bob Affair is actually pretty good.
The same happened with the shite
Obi-1 show. But after a few
months or years, you both confidently say
they're both terrible. How do you trust
your published first impressions
when you've done a hard 180 so
consistently. Why must you lie?
Really fucking like serious.
I love the end to that.
And there's like two, why must you lie?
Two examples and they're both fucking Disney Plus Star Wars shows.
Yeah.
And also like I'll put my hands up for like all of the COVID era.
Like I don't know like even who I was to be honest.
Also is.
Hey, did we even say that?
Also yeah, what's the context?
And B, like, were we, like, looking at each other with, like, you know, knowing we're doing a bit sort of thing.
I don't know.
And the thing is, like, there are bits of the OB-1 show that I think, like, work.
Not many, but there are.
And the Baba Fett show, like...
I remember saying that I liked Boba Fett on a Rancourt.
Really?
I like Boba Fett when he's training with the fucking Tuscan ratings.
Yeah.
I was fired.
I was cool with that.
That should have been the whole show
and then it just ended
with him getting his own banther.
Yeah.
That would have been fun.
I don't know because like also
I don't know.
Like if you're...
But what do you mean?
Trust yourself.
It's like at the time
I probably was like cope.
Yeah, it could be a cope moment.
It could be like we're checking in
on a podcast like partway through it or like...
Yeah, I mean...
I remember like talking shit about Obi-1
and like that chase scene and shit
like pretty early on like yeah
I knew that shit was trash the second I saw it
like in that really fucking weird
scene where there's like
he's like hiding on a ship
and there's like a
a blockade or a checkpoint
with like stormtroopers on it but it's like this tiny
little like door you could just
walked around it
yeah
yeah the one out and the on like
is it onto a tattooing
I can't remember
I don't remember much it was really
yeah he like
ends up killing them all and he like shoots the thing and it's like you the you could just
literally go right there yeah yeah or him like hiding layer in that the coat when they're like on
the ship and it's so fucking stupid I don't remember that man yeah um yeah I mean it yeah it was trash um
and trust your opinions like that it doesn't publish first in progress I don't
what do you mean a lot of people have this idea where it's like you post something and you say
something online that has to be 100% perfect and accurate reflection of in the best way possible
forever you can never like change your opinion you can never make a mistake you can never like
feel one thing in a moment and change your mind you can never change your mind as bad to change
your mind you have to commit to everything you've ever said which is just i just don't buy into that
like every every recording is like a flashpoint it's like a moment captured yeah
It's not like this.
And like, I think a fantastic example for me is like Spider-Man, No Way Ham.
We've, because we've been talking about that recently.
Like, the feeling of seeing that in the cinema, right?
Especially like me is like, I walked out of Spider-Man 2 when I was the age of that little kid you're in the cinema with.
And I remember saying, I turned to my parents and I said, that's the best movie of my life.
Uh-huh.
And you were correct.
And yeah, like, I trust my opinion because that's still true.
No, but my point is like the feeling after seeing no way home,
after seeing it in the cinema, like the surprise of the other Spider-Man being there,
after not being certain and like blah, blah, blah,
and you kind of forget about the shitty part where spider's wearing like an inside-out spider suit
and fucking like trying to get electro and the Sandman turns up
and like nobody's on set together.
And like the film looks fucking trash
That's the shot with the Flash Gordon
Walking and it it's it like I could I could do better better CGI
And I don't even know what you what software CGI is like you couldn't go into like the street
He's just like on his phone
Yeah yeah
Standing in the street yeah in the street yeah in the middle that's the worst shot in all of the MCU
Yeah it might be it looks like he's in um
fucking
What's the misty video game town?
Silent Hill.
Silent Hill.
Like, it's just sterile.
Like, there's the smoke in the worst.
So, yeah, like, my vibe is going to be different when I watch that movie,
maybe wanting to be more critical, maybe in a different environment,
maybe separated from the excitement of seeing a new Spider-Man thing and having the goat turn up.
You know, like, there's a million things.
You know, I hadn't seen fucking
My Star Wars go,
Obi-1 in a thing in fucking ages,
and then he himself,
Ewan McGregor turns up,
and the thrill of that in the moment is like,
fuck yeah,
they're really doing it.
Um,
and it stunk.
Yeah.
Like it was disappointing.
And some things age like a fine wine,
and some things age like actual fucking rotten trash.
Yeah.
Like.
And when,
did that Obi-Wong, when did Book of Boba-Fet and Obi-1 come out, like six years ago?
That must have been around...
Like, five years ago?
Like, Book of Boba-Fet was...
2021.
So, come on, that's, like, pure COVID bullshit.
Yeah.
The shit was still new.
Yeah, and the media landscape then was trash.
Everything...
Everything was awful.
Because that's part of why No Way Home looked so bad.
Because of, like, COVID filming and stuff.
So yeah, and then, yeah, the year later, 2022,
Obi-Wan Kenobi came out.
Yeah, there you go.
I forgot the 40s.
He was in it.
Was he?
Yeah.
Um.
Who was he?
Darth Vader.
He was Nari.
Oh, yeah, that memorable one.
In the first episode, yeah.
Yeah.
Okay.
Let's do a couple more here as we wind this one down.
Um, let's do this one from Yorn Noah.
Hey, Jarr, I got a funny weed story from last night, kinder.
Last night around 2 a.m., my cat woke me up because he wanted to go out.
From my room, I enter the kitchen and open the back door to let my cat outside,
and while in the kitchen, I hear the oven beeping.
I of course turn it off, as I see that my dad was baking brownies, as he normally does,
and decide it's good for a midnight snack.
I take a double piece from the corner.
I'm sure you can guess where this story is going.
About two hours later, I wake up and start to feel strange.
For a moment, I had no idea what was happening to me,
but quickly I realized that my dad's brownies had weed in them.
For context, I've never taken any form of weed in my life prior from this night.
As of writing this, it was honestly a scary experience.
I was able to feel just how heavy and quick I was breathing,
all while thinking, at the time,
I was taking deep calm breaths to the point where I thought I was going to die.
I can't remember much else.
Your lungs were like maximum capacity.
You just know it.
As of this very moment, it's about 19 hours after I have eaten the brownie
and still feel the effects.
So I suppose where you're wondering what the funny part comes in.
Well, after going through a traumatic moment of my life
of getting high for the very first time ever accidentally,
I'm here watching Crazy Frog getting therapy from the beast himself.
I can't tell if this is the best or worst timing ever
for a jar video to come out for me.
Oh yeah, that's quite scary.
That is crazy.
I would, um...
I don't know if I would have made it.
yeah
like my first
edible experience
um
was pretty hardcore
and that was like
consensual
yeah
yeah
it's something
way scarier
when it's like
shit
this thing is in me
that like I didn't really
wasn't really
planning for
yeah
plus I've never done it before
yeah
so you don't know
what to expect
and yeah
yeah
it's not like
I don't know
I'm just don't know
yeah
yeah that's fair enough
no
I
I
yeah and like it is way more like an edible is way more intense oh my god yeah
like way more intense than just like yeah smoking or whatever um so i'm glad you survived
and had an amazing maybe the best episode of jars to uh calm you down yeah that would also
be a great episode to green out to as well it it just feels like you're watching it for an eternity
yeah um let's round down
then on this one from Captain Jacks off. This is a really fucking weird question, but it goes
nicely by the end. Okay, is there any inconsequential opinion your partner could hold that would
make your hard-ass fucking cock inverse into your body? Let me explain. Allow me to explain,
okay? Since there is a new shitty-ass-looking Spider-Man movie coming out, my girlfriend, Penelope Cruz,
from Pirates 4 and I have been discussing old Spider-Man movies.
She said Amazing Spider-Man 2 was really good.
Me, as a genius, knows it is maybe without exaggeration the cinematic equivalent of a
chimp putting a garden hose inside its asshole and pinching loaf after loaf into it and also
the other end of the hose is midsummer taped to my down mouth.
So, we've been gradually watching all the movies and I had to re-watch the movie for the first time
since 2014. It is still shit, kind of like the chimp metaphor I said before. Smirk at Jim.
Jim, do you need me to remind you of the chimp metaphor? She told me I think the lead
actors are cute and have amazing chemistry. Electro is corny and fun and Gwen Stacy's
death is well done. Needless to say, I pissed furiously out of my penis, lull, and then I
shattered our lamp with one crunch of my fist. I was mad to say the least. Do you have a
any such examples? Does Jim have an example? And I just wanted to say thank you, Jail,
for being such a respite every Monday. I've had a tough work schedule since the start of the year.
And I listen to Jai every Monday after working all morning and before having to work a different 12-hour
shift on my feet. I feel like podcasts have been bastardized and I don't listen to many in a medium
that is bogged down in gambling ads, mocking those less unfortunate and embracing fans. And
embracing fascism, their JAR stands alone. Other podcasts have made me laugh, but JARMedia continues to
make me smile. Did I write this after accidentally having some brownies at two in the morning?
Yeah, what the actual... That was an insane fucking comment. Jesus Christ. What? Like, what was the
question? I do think, though, if, um... If your partner likes The Amazing Spider-Man too, you need to get them
locked up. You need to frame them for something. You need to get out of there. No, you need to get them
punished.
Is there actually anything where
it would be like an ick?
Liking the Amazing Spider-Man
2? That isn't the Amazing Spider-Man 2.
The Amazing Spider-Man 1?
That's even more of an ick.
No.
Actually, yeah, which one? No, the Amazing
Spider-Man 2 is worse.
I don't like Joker lizard. It's too...
Yeah, I hate the fucking lizard.
At least it's funny to laugh at the second one.
Yeah.
It's got some funny shit in it.
Oh, it's bad there, man.
Yeah, it is really.
It's fucking really bad, man.
Yeah, I don't know.
I don't really...
I don't really know.
I'm fine with people not liking or liking things.
Yeah, I don't...
If it's like that, then I don't give a shit.
But if it's like, you know, thinking, like,
Hitler might have had a few good points,
then I probably wouldn't.
What about for you if it was like...
They're obsessed.
with Ayn Rand and like agree with the
the politics of it.
They're coming out from that angle.
They're not just interested from a literary perspective.
Yeah, yeah.
They actually like agree with it on like every level.
Then they'd be too similar to my grandma.
So I probably wouldn't be into them.
Yeah.
Yeah, insane comment.
Do you think Ayn Rand was kind of sexy?
Very much no
No
No? Yeah definitely not
She could get it
