Starting point is 00:00:00 Sometimes you're a bit too anti-wimsy for me. What do you mean? I love whimsy. I was just talking about TED. Doesn't get more whimsical than TED. Valid. I take it back. I'm sorry. Got my hugs on, bro. That's cute. Got my hugs on, dude. My feet's are cold. It is getting cold. I must be serious. Finally.
Starting point is 00:00:27 I don't know. It's kind of chilly, man. I'm kind of a bit freezing. I'm not ready for this free zine. No, I'm ready for this free zine, just like I'm ready for this episode of the brocast, season seven. What? Sorry, season eight, episode five. Wow. With Alex and Jim.
Starting point is 00:00:44 Me. Me and you. Me, me and you, you and me, both of us together. That was fucking cool. Just like my hugs. Me, you and me, both of us. Quite funny. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:01:04 Ah, another day Another goddamn daughter Another day down to minds Another day getting fined Get your mic We're going back down to mines We should go to Wales And film an episode in The Mines
Starting point is 00:01:19 Oh I've actually seen a podcast already do that Yeah, never mind Yeah Never mind Yeah Every idea done Try and think of an idea
Starting point is 00:01:30 Uh, the Harrow Brian Done Maybe you're going to say Harrowin reborn? Yeah. Haribine Reforged Update. Okay, fuck. You think I give a fuck. Have I ever told you, though?
Starting point is 00:01:45 Once I was playing Minecraft, I was beat Minecraft up. No. And in the patch notes, it said Herobrine officially removed. And I was like, wait, so Haribirine's been here the whole time? Oh, God damn time. Oh, my God. I feel like saying a bit more serious this episode. Yeah, I was going to say, I'm definitely feeling more serious.
Starting point is 00:02:04 What is it about like the body language is just everything, isn't it? Oh, it really is. This isn't going to work for audio listeners, but... Should I do the same? You can do whatever you want. Should I take a serious... You might want to react to like how I'm, you know, carrying myself, my stature, as it were.
Starting point is 00:02:22 Like, look, I mean, ask you a question in like two different body language ways. Okay. And see how the response is different. Yeah. How frightened of the heroin are you? A lot. Now let me switch up the posture. Mm-hmm.
Starting point is 00:02:44 How frightened of the hairbrain are you? Mm. So, so. Oh, interesting. See that? Did you see that? Yeah, that was like a psychological kind of matrix type maneuver. These are the kind of ideas.
Starting point is 00:02:56 Yeah, hey, you did it. That's good. That's a good new bit, an underrated new bit, actually. Yeah, I didn't see any comments about that bit. These are the kind of... The... The... Anyway, before we get too deep into the show, let me shout out the JAR Media patrons that make the show an audio version possible.
Starting point is 00:03:17 They get the raw unfiltered MP3 ad free over there. You can put it on your RSS feed host of choice, you know, listen to it on Podbean or wherever. You know what we should do is when you're doing this bit, I should have one of those signs with the arrow and do like the tricks and stuff. Yeah. Yeah, make that stretch goal. Yeah, yeah. If you give us 950,000 Any currency
Starting point is 00:03:41 Then that will happen Not any currency A good currency Good currency Yeah Well What do you get, bro? The fuck do you get?
Starting point is 00:03:53 You get your names read out The first or second week Of every month Get those in ready for November, man Yeah That's not all though There's jafter hours There's so much more
Starting point is 00:04:02 There's so much more Jaffer hours Like this It's like a whole series Do you even remember last week's one? The extra supplementary weekly video we've been doing for 100 plus episodes on the playlist over there. You know what, there's so many. I've actually forgotten what we did last week.
Starting point is 00:04:19 I was very happy with the last one. Yes. In defense of Elon Musk's Simpsons. Yeah. Like a 25 minute long discussion about that. Notorious episode. We had some hot takes, let's just say. Leave it at that.
Starting point is 00:04:35 Check that out. If that's not to your style, though, we got the blood whistle creepy past their reading, Giswaii impressions with some gameplay, Arkham Asylum versus City debate. One of my favorites. Resident Evil, as they say. All sorts of shit going on on there. Pays his chance. Oh, my God.
Starting point is 00:04:54 I'm going to start crying. It's just such good value. Yeah. It's genuinely insane value. Yeah. It's um as if that's not enough There's also the Jarm Media group chat
Starting point is 00:05:09 A group chat Where you can discuss all sorts of things Like memes Wait that comes free In addition to everything else you just said I am not lying I am not lying Wow
Starting point is 00:05:20 I'm not lying I'm trying to learn to talk with my hands more Yeah Just Italian style Yeah it's kind of more Calzoni Expressive it's more Calzone Tell us Americans
Starting point is 00:05:31 Is it Calzone or Calzoni Yeah Which? Let us know Americans. Is that part of the song we're listening to or is there someone screaming in the distance? I heard. Every now and again there's just someone on the lane like just screaming or... That lane is enough.
Starting point is 00:05:52 Yeah. I don't want to know what goes on in that way. Oh, I know. Yeah, you don't want to know. Yeah. Right. Let's do some housekeeping then before we get into some topics of discussion. There's actually a fair amount to bring up and talk about this week.
Starting point is 00:06:05 Spor Zick can get us going. Control mentioned. Do you boys like the remedy verse as much as I do? Unfortunately, the only remedy game I've played is Control. I've always wanted to play Alam Wake. I actually bought Alan Wake recently. The first one. Like the remake version?
Starting point is 00:06:26 The remake, yeah, because it was like £1.70 on Steam. You sure that was the remake one? Maybe not. Because that was the main reason I didn't play... I don't think you can... It was on epic. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And something you need to know
Starting point is 00:06:40 and something I'm allowing to inform when I eventually get around to the game. What's that? But everyone says that it's the best bad game ever made. Best bad game? Yeah, because like... Apparently the game plays kind of stinky.
Starting point is 00:06:59 All right, I can get past that to a degree. The writing and stuff and the story is meant to be just fantastic. And I remember seeing an interview with, oh, what's his name? Something Lake. Sam? Sam Lake. The writer of, like, Max Payne and Max Payne 2.
Starting point is 00:07:14 The face of Max Payne? Yeah, Max Payne himself from Max Payne 1. Said his favorite game that he's ever written. This was like after Control came out. He said his favorite game he's ever written is Alan Wake 1. Alan Wake 1? Yeah. Wow, yeah.
Starting point is 00:07:35 And everything I've seen about Alan Wake 2 looks awesome. I thought control was really good. Control Resident looks awesome. It's just too crowded at the moment. Otherwise, I probably would have hopped on it. For sure. I will get to it at some point. I feel like I need to watch like Twin Peaks.
Starting point is 00:07:50 Yeah. I feel like a lot of the vibe comes down to that. Excellent point. Yeah. I can't believe you haven't watched Twin Peaks. I know. I own it. You know?
Starting point is 00:08:01 I think I've seen the first episode and I really liked it, but I just haven't. Did you smile? I smiled and I went, what? This is always kind of lynchian in a way. Yeah. Well, Shil Wave says,
Starting point is 00:08:15 Have you read any of the Rancers comics? The imagery of the whole world being chocolateized in the last issue was just so raw. Look, I'm a wankers video game. Extremist. Everyone knows it. Yeah, like I'm not jumping into the wankers extended universe, I'm sorry
Starting point is 00:08:38 I mean, the payoffs are huge, but the time investment is large. Yeah, right, yeah. But it's not like the payoffs from the video games aren't huge, you know? Yeah, exactly. So I'm fine with that, I'm fine with that, I'm fine with that, I'm fine with that. I'm fine with that. Cascette Cassie 1 says, I love jazz so much, I find myself put into a trance with the amount of weird phrases and noises you guys make.
Starting point is 00:09:02 My brain feels like it's melting half the time until I'm, waterboarded with a discussion of UK politics or something legitimately serious. I love y'all. Never leave this earth. I can't control that, I'm afraid. Yeah, we're destined to. Much like all life. And that's what makes every joke even funnier
Starting point is 00:09:19 is the fact that it's all on a timer, you know? It's all on a timer and it's all ultimately pointless. Wow. You're a nihilist, I'm an absurdist. It's not nihilism. I'm kind of like the Joker going style.
Starting point is 00:09:35 Yeah. Look, this is the Joker with Hulk powers jumping through the city. Oh, shit. He's bounding. Yeah, yeah, yeah. He's like, I'm going to find you, pets. Yeah, and Batman's like hiding this time because he's like, Joker has gone Hulk.
Starting point is 00:09:49 Joker with Hulk powers is a bit too much even for me. I didn't have prep time for this. Yeah. How scary is that? Joker, Hulk, Batman, no prep time. It was kind of the end of Hulk. It was like, to be honest. Um,
Starting point is 00:10:03 Android Squid 31 says Love Howard Jarling asked a genuine question looking for hope Then asked as Alex and Jim descended into madness Talking about a post-apocalypse of chocolate men Truly this makes me feel hope that times will get better Never change chocolate boys You know what you have to hope that times will get better Yeah
Starting point is 00:10:27 Because there's always something to fix Yeah like Xbox Red Ring Death Yeah And what do they do They release the Xbox One and everyone was satisfied Everyone was hyped Hey Xbox Open Netflix
Starting point is 00:10:42 Hey Xbox Turn on Q season two episode three of Orange is the new black Xbox Nice Someone that An actress from that show emailed me the other day Really? Yeah
Starting point is 00:10:57 About my I made a video about letterboxed Yeah And they were like doing some kind of campaign thing about like I don't know I didn't really were you pro letterboxed or anti letterbox it's going they're selling it basically and it's like a bunch of different companies are like in a bidding war right to like to buy it and ruin it in shit to yeah yeah it's in the process of being in shit's so awesome um but they emailed me too late that's like that's so fucking that's pissed me off
Starting point is 00:11:27 because I've been making an effort um because it like I've I've I've I have I have I have I have I have been thinking about that comment a while back about like me interacting with the community. And every now and again I go on the Deadpool review of mine. That's all you getting content with you. Yeah, and I see like the comments and stuff and they're like really funny. So I've started like using letterbox more because I like that avenue. Yeah, yeah. I haven't noticed that.
Starting point is 00:11:57 You've been logging shirts. I have been logging shirts. I haven't been like doing full on reviews and stuff, just logging shirts. Oh, okay. That's why I didn't see it. Yeah, yeah, yeah. But, um, like, just doing the stars or whatever. Right.
Starting point is 00:12:11 But, yeah. Like, log it as a diary entry or just rating the film. Oh, I don't know. Do you need to do that? Well, if you want it to appear on, like, the home feed for everyone else. Right. Yeah, but... If you just rated it, stars, it wouldn't appear. I'm building up.
Starting point is 00:12:22 Like, I'm... Building up the courage, yeah. Well, not the courage. Like, I'm confident. Watch the David Lynch film next. No. Why? because um
Starting point is 00:12:35 he's the goat okay I will good yeah you convinced me but yeah I like I like like having a discussion around something
Starting point is 00:12:50 you know like around a movie topic you know like I'm I'm done with like my Twitter shits there was like just like putting a statement about something Yeah
Starting point is 00:13:05 It's like I was opining About when Twitter Had a character limit So you actually had to be pithy Yeah yeah yeah You know Well pithiness is the fool of wit
Starting point is 00:13:16 And I was also missing I think the best social media era Was when You were parodying the Argy Instagram With the Biddy Post That was that was Yeah But again that's me like
Starting point is 00:13:29 Using something else As like a pivot But, uh... Commentary. Yeah. Commentary parody. It's like a sort of commentary community, if you will. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:13:39 Let's go. Um, well, obviously last episode was the onboarding episode. And, uh, Kendall Roy. Fuck yeah, good reference. So it's genuinely a really good starting episode because it's like all the other episodes because you can start on none of them and they all don't make sense. So it's perfect. Oh, I haven't done the early episode crawl.
Starting point is 00:13:59 Yeah. Oh, yeah. fuck. I can't do that today. That was just, that was, that was to get you on. That was to get you on.
Starting point is 00:14:07 Um, the board. And Corinne 856 says, Jara's the only podcast to have an onboarding episode, but the in jokes that nobody understands are explained by using in jokes that nobody understands. Bloody brilliant boys. Yeah,
Starting point is 00:14:21 I mean, we spent hours cooking in the booth for that one. We were like, what are the biggest moments we need to explain. Yeah, it was like, it was sort of like one of those simple. kind of like clips.
Starting point is 00:14:33 Yeah. What was it, Goat Johnson or whatever? Goat Johnson. Where is it? Goat Lawson. Goat Lawson. Yeah, when we're explaining Goat Lawson. Ah.
Starting point is 00:14:50 Yes. Three more. Old Man Diabetes says Paisley was really cute this episode. Ugh. I put that one in there because it's rare that Paisley gets some love it. Yeah, it's kind of pissed me off, though. Like, that's not her bit. Like, the bit is that everyone hates her.
Starting point is 00:15:07 Yeah. She's down there snuggled up with her bird. She loves bird. Yeah, she does love bird. It is cute when she loves bird, but, like, we're not allowed to acknowledge that. Because she's ugly idiot. Ollie Mort says Alexander Beltman is seriously badass.
Starting point is 00:15:24 Nice. And the reason I screenshot that, not only because it's... Awesome. Fucking jerking me off. I'm so badass But underneath it It says translate to English Seriously bad ass shit
Starting point is 00:15:42 I didn't get it That makes sense No Good And last one This one is actually a Spotify comment Wow From Jake
Starting point is 00:15:52 Nice one Jake He says Where is baby glory a month Look we got to get something straight About the month thing You didn't get to choose what the month is It has to be organic.
Starting point is 00:16:06 Yeah. The seeds are sprinkled. We don't choose the month. The month chooses us. Yes. Fuck, yes. You can't put it more son sysely than that. Absa-absor freaking loot, Lou.
Starting point is 00:16:19 We don't swear anymore. No. Have you seen the sun meme? The sun. S-O-N-S-N-S-N-San. The guy from Avengers. What's his name? What?
Starting point is 00:16:30 Anthony... Mackey? Mackey, yeah. Sun? Yeah Like what's the format Just like if I search like What do I have to search
Starting point is 00:16:41 Just put son meme Son meme Anthony Mackey No just sun meme Oh yeah yeah Yeah I've seen this picture before That's how I felt When you read Jake's comment There's some good variants of it
Starting point is 00:16:56 Yeah Son ton and he's like a Like a one ton Yeah Harley David's son And he's like Yeah Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:17:06 Or one where they've like, gender swapped him and it's just a daughter. Very clever, man. I can love cleverness. Yeah, I love intellectualisms. I absolutely love intellectualisms. I can't get enough of intellectualisms. So I got a couple of topics to talk about. Yeah, scream them to the sun.
Starting point is 00:17:31 To our video game, one is... Oh, damn. Macfarlane related Which would you like? McFarlane. You want to start there? Yeah. I have watched the first season of TED.
Starting point is 00:17:46 The cartoon? No, no, the live action. Oh shit, okay, yeah. Which is directed and written by Seth McFarland. Let's go. Because you were like talking smack about it or something and in the comments everyone was like, no, Ted is based. And I really don't like,
Starting point is 00:18:04 MacFarlane's views. I don't think his style works for the narrative format of film. No. But I've got to be real, some of it is funny. I'll laugh out loud at least ones. I wasn't even shitting on it. I said there was, like... An episode.
Starting point is 00:18:21 I, like, listed off a whole joke. Like, I said it's... Like, it's got jokes. Yeah, but, like, seeing a funny family guy clip is different than watching a family guy episode. Yes. You know? Yes. And it is live action family guy, basically.
Starting point is 00:18:41 Maybe a bit more of a story, but like very, very loose. Yep. Huge thing. I wouldn't say love. I... It's like an easy, passive watch, you know, you laugh now and again. Right. Were you playing gears while watching?
Starting point is 00:18:57 No, but I might do that for season two. Because it is just like the throwing shit out there. some of the jokes are like that wasn't funny yeah yeah but then it just moves on so quick and then it would do the establishing shot at the house and it's just like that it's fucking identical but it's just in live action oh that sneezes mess me up but you want to know what makes it the TED films also kind of have okay jokes now and again okay but it's a bombardment of shit as well yeah and Mark Wahlberg my warberg sucks mark warburg me the ick.
Starting point is 00:19:35 Yeah. That's the perfect way of putting it. Unless he's icky. A film we should watch is flight risk, that fucking Mel Gibson film with him in it. It's fucking really funny. Really? Because of how bad it is. Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:19:49 But him not being there makes such a difference to me. Because like the supporting cast is all right. Like the kid who's playing Mark Wahlberg's young version of him is maybe the funniest part. Wow. And it's not just because of the Boston accent being funny, which it kind of is. Uh-huh. It's like the Kiwi accent or the Aussie accent. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:20:12 Some accents are just funny. Yeah. Like British, Queens English, badass, villainous. Yeah. It's called... Dark. Yeah. Like, there's a reason all your favorite...
Starting point is 00:20:23 Treacherous, yeah. You know, Gramov Tarkin, you know? Obi-Wanke nobi. He's got Gravitas. Yeah, yeah. I can only make Star Wars references. Yeah, yeah. Um, just like Seth Macfarlane.
Starting point is 00:20:34 That's one of my other kind of issues with Ted is that there is like, oh, it's like Ted doing E.T. Yeah. It's like a bunch of shit from his childhood. Yeah, there's this, this whole bit in the first Ted where it's like, oh, the guy who played Flash Gordon is in it. Yeah. So it's stuff like from his childhood.
Starting point is 00:20:53 Yeah. Which, and it's like so, and this isn't even like really critique, but more just like, his style of humor is he always. make these named references to like American pop culture things from his childhood from the 80s 90s and I'm just like oh that that's just like when Billy Brody went buddy sorry on a funny buddy yeah yeah yeah like pause for laughter and I'm just like cool man what the fuck you're talking about yeah yeah yeah but it's got some good jokes in there there's like a good um Halloween episode I got to say I got to shout out Ted one quick mm-hmm because I don't know if I've
Starting point is 00:21:31 ever mentioned this before, but I think it has Ryan Reynolds' best role. Do you remember him in the film? No, you're forgetting about buried. Yes. Or Green Lantern. Buried. Because I watch lanterns, too. Yeah, I want to watch that show.
Starting point is 00:21:48 Don't. No, he'd probably like it. Sometimes you do this, like, dead-eyed smile that's like... What, you criticising my... You know I've got a thing about my eyes. Just like... Your tiny Ryan eyes. Yes, then, tell me I've got Ryan Reynolds' eyes.
Starting point is 00:22:09 Your eyes are smaller. Do you remember his came? This reminds me at the time where Ryan Reynolds got the tight eyes. This reminds me of the time, no, do you remember Ryan Reynolds' feature, his little cameo? Of course I do. He's like gay or something? Yeah, because he's gay. The, um, kind of.
Starting point is 00:22:31 But like earlier in the film, fucking, uh, the cop from family guy. He's like, hey can you cover for me for a sec because um Patrick Warburton yeah I paid a guy to like
Starting point is 00:22:46 beat the shit at me yesterday and I like I don't remember it but that happened and Ted's like oh you're gay and then later in the movie he's just like
Starting point is 00:22:58 holding hands with Ryan Reynolds and Ryan Reynolds says nothing and it's like yes that's how that's how you use Ryan Reynolds no I thought he was really good in million ways to die in the West. That was a good utilization of them. Did you just get killed like a...
Starting point is 00:23:13 I can't fucking remember. That film is, uh... But yeah, like, last thing on TED show. Yeah. Production is like pretty flat. Like, it's not, there's nothing really interesting about, like, the production design outside of Ted. Like, the C, like, T, like, CG is like so, you're not even thinking that it's like a a CG creature.
Starting point is 00:23:32 Yeah, yeah, yeah. Lighting on him and shit and, like, the glaze of his teddy bear eyes and shit. Like, damn, this is like, it's like, that's where all the money went because it wasn't until anything else and he's got his like um his usual suspects that always work with him like the the dad character is the guy who voices the the kid from american dad with the glasses like but he's also in the star trek show that you did yes yeah yeah because that's what i mean and the like the cousin character she was in that as well like he's he clearly has people that he like works with all the time um
Starting point is 00:24:07 Is goar flax in it? Yep. There was a, there was an, it's, it's like not really political until this one episode where it's like hyperpolitical. Okay. Um, where like the dad character brings a, his toy truck to life in a TED type way. Mm-hmm. And the toy truck is like, really like racist and sexist and like fucked up. Okay.
Starting point is 00:24:33 And there's like clashing with, um, the like niece character. Um, and yeah, there was some, there was some good gags in there, you know, it's, it's fine. I wouldn't say, like, you gotta rush out and see you dead on Netflix right now. I think it fucking stinks. Um, but I'd probably watch more, you know. I think about 30 minutes is like, 30 to 40 minutes is about what I can handle of that, like, that style. Yeah, yeah, yeah. 90 to two hours is just like way too much for that bullshit, you know, um, in one burst, anyway.
Starting point is 00:25:08 I'd say 10 minutes So yeah that continues my just Obsession with Seth MacFowland I guess And Ted So you know apparently You know we made fun of the Orville so much For like when it first came out Apparently like after the first season
Starting point is 00:25:21 It just becomes like old Star Trek Like just straight up It was kind of already becoming that when we were watching Yeah That's when we still watching Like this isn't fucking family going up Yeah Yeah where's Ted?
Starting point is 00:25:33 Yeah Where's the Ted planet? Yeah The Orville's kind of fucking good, though. Yeah, I've got fond memories of... Yeah, yeah, yeah. And Goreflax, the guy who, like, can eat anything.
Starting point is 00:25:47 Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. He, like, eats a cactus or something. Yeah. Hey, goreflax, eat this cactus, would you? With pleasure, Seth. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Um, did you want to know anything about lanterns, or should I just go on to something else?
Starting point is 00:26:01 No, I'm just excited to watch it. Well, just like you're excited to watch Penguin. penguin's way better than it does it have john stewart in it does it have john stewart no don't care then you don't know anything about john stewart i don't and i've seen lanterns i know more about john stewart than you maybe probably not i don't know any i've seen i feel like i know less about the green lantern like world after watching lanterns than like before i went in you know
Starting point is 00:26:35 With guardians of war With guardians of might I charge my ring With the lantern's flight Plight Good night Sometimes you're a bit too anti-wimsy for me What do you mean? I love whimsy
Starting point is 00:26:51 I was just talking about TED Doesn't get more whimsical than Ted Valid I take it back Yeah I'm sorry Has a really bad ending there You made me angry and I lashed out
Starting point is 00:27:03 Okay and I apologise guys. Yeah. That's what Ted's for. Ted's for lashing out. That's for lashing out. That's what you sound like. Now you're lashing out. So unless you want to know anything more about lanterns,
Starting point is 00:27:22 there's a couple other things. Like I teased earlier, the gaming galore type droplets. Can you just say lanterns is a 10 out of 10 and then we'll move on? No, it's not. Did I ask you if it was? It feels kind of. like season two. It's like, where's season one?
Starting point is 00:27:39 So you're just kind of ignorant? Yeah, I would never deny that. I'd never deny that. Okay. Yeah. Now we are on. They revealed who's doing the music in GTA. The original score, I mean. Yes.
Starting point is 00:27:55 And like, I felt, this is honest, this may be it sounds cringy, but it's the most exciting thing for me. It's what I've been waiting to learn in order to allow myself to be hyped about it because I was that guy where you know when they showed the gameplay trailer thing the half an hour one recently the it was the you'd your ear to the ground the original soundtrack in it during like the combat sequences with that base slapping so hard it was like I was like what is this like something was really speaking to me about it to the point where I was going on YouTube and finding like the fan edits of like people that were like cleaning it up and yeah yeah listen to that like yeah I
Starting point is 00:28:35 I can't wait to fucking hear this properly. And then it's revealed that justice is doing the music. And I'm like, oh my God. Are you actually trying to fucking, are you actually trying to tickle me? Because you release a song that has Tame and Paola, King Gizzard and Elizabeth Wizard, Justice and Cesar on it.
Starting point is 00:28:53 Yeah. Are you actually trying to eat my ass right now? Like me specifically, you trying to. I think rock star was. They were listening. They were trying to spread them teeth. Yeah. Because like,
Starting point is 00:29:05 obviously who was it that did GTA 5 the Tangerine Dream did a bunch of it And I was like I'm not sure how they could top that really Because the music is awesome So what you want about that game
Starting point is 00:29:21 All the license shit All the original score of GTA5 It's like ridiculously good And obviously their last game was Red Dead 2 Which also had like just next level music Yeah So what this game is going to do to me from a musical standpoint is the part I'm most exact For that radio the original stuff and I yeah like you can go back a few years on the cast
Starting point is 00:29:47 Like when I really got into justice and like listened to the whole discography and like I really love their music and I think that's a That is the sound of like Vice City right to me Right yeah yeah yeah like that what a good pick Yeah that song in the launch trailer is a belter, can't know. Yeah. And apparently they were trying to get Duff Punk to do it.
Starting point is 00:30:11 Really? Like, they couldn't get it, yeah. I feel like justice is better suited, to be honest. I feel like it's, as much as I'd like Duff Punk to make music again. Sure, let other people make some shits. Justice, uh, they do their own thing, but they're kind of like spiritual successor, kind of. Is it? Yeah, they're like French dudes making,
Starting point is 00:30:34 that kind of music, electronic stuff. Okay. Yeah, so shout out to that. Excited to hear that music properly. And last thing for this segment, I guess. Have you heard about BioWare? Yes. Yes, I did.
Starting point is 00:30:54 Lom can be a hopping off point here. Thoughts on the death of BioWare and MassFec 5 cancelled and hottest MassFite babe. um Jacob um people are like losing their minds and freaking out
Starting point is 00:31:14 really and people surprised I'm kind of sad in like a wistful way about like man it was good when they made good games 10 years ago or more yeah way more 15 years ago
Starting point is 00:31:26 yeah yeah I I can't believe they survived any longer than Andromeda. Was it Andromeda before or after Anthem? Fuck, I forgot about Anthem.
Starting point is 00:31:42 They were given a lot of rope. Yeah. But also the way EA has functioned for such a long time. Like, they've been chopping dudes left, right and center. Yeah, it's the latest one, I guess. Like, I feel sorry for the people
Starting point is 00:32:03 who have lost their jobs and stuff like because you know what's going on with the A? No, I have no idea. They've been bought by like some Saudi fucking fuck for like 14 billion dollars or something. Right, so get rid of the
Starting point is 00:32:20 studio that makes gay aliens. Yeah. Yeah, and that's what I've been thinking about is like, obviously Mass Effect, but there's some crazy stuff about it where like, it was,
Starting point is 00:32:33 relevant for so many different reasons like MassFelt 1 you mentioned the gayness the Fox News drama mm-hmm was it Jeff Keely that went on to defend that maybe I think it actually might have been yeah um but there were so many like first and like dramas with Mass Effect with like Mass Effect 3 the ending like packs and day one DLC in yeah of course like there's so many like gamer things linked to Mass Effect with one of the weirder parts being that I saw a stout on Twitter that I think it was just Horizon Zero Dawn has sold more than every MassFit game combined.
Starting point is 00:33:14 Really? It almost has like a disproportionate love for how much it's actually sold because it's got like such a... That's unbelievable, yeah. I can't believe that. People always compare Horizon Zero Dawn to like Avatar as far as like...
Starting point is 00:33:32 It just sells like tens of millions of copies but like no one ever talks about it or like, yeah I think Avatar has way more of a cultural impact than fucking Iraq Oh god, yeah Price and sucks Yeah
Starting point is 00:33:42 I can't finish them I can't I can't finish the robot dinosaur game Yeah Like you You fucked up Um Again made for you
Starting point is 00:33:51 Made to eat your ass Yeah Aloi Aloi Aloi So fucking What a shit character Um
Starting point is 00:34:02 Yeah All right Um But yeah Obviously Mass Effect 1 and 2 are Seminal Specifically
Starting point is 00:34:12 MassFet 2 I think both Um Like Mass Effect 1 has like one of the best scores ever Like in a video game Yeah if you're like If you've got medium hearing Why are you doing this
Starting point is 00:34:29 Yeah No genuinely Um no it does have a good soundtrack I don't think I have the same nostalgia attachment you do for MassF8 2
Starting point is 00:34:44 for MassFet 1 yeah they're like one organism to me MassFet 1 and 2 really yeah I think even more than like the the Asylum City discussion
Starting point is 00:34:58 I think MassFect 2 is such a hefty leap forwards like with everything they were trying to do with that series it's incredible Mass Effect 2 Yeah To go from to go from like this kind of This idea of a game
Starting point is 00:35:16 That's clearly like not a finished product There's got some finished stuff Like I think the I think MassFet 1 Might be like the coolest like world building in any game I can think of That is a valid point like yeah That fucking codex and that voice that's like reading everything and the establishment
Starting point is 00:35:36 it's got so much fucking aura, it's crazy. Yeah, it's... Second you turn it on and that music starts playing. It's got like thick atmosphere. Yeah. It's like gooey. But Mass Effect 2 is like...
Starting point is 00:35:54 Oh, it's got that like blader on our opening and it's like, doodle, boodle. Yeah. It's so fucking good. What about John Shepard? Yeah. I got like so many good voice actors yeah Keith David
Starting point is 00:36:09 this is how I'm gonna win this is like the in Arkansas Island just listen to this right well what about Shepard he grew up in the colonies he knows how tough life can be out there his parents were killed when slavers attacked Mindwar
Starting point is 00:36:33 and this changes you might die on a cruise He could have some serious... Oh yeah, it's based on... Uh-huh. Him looking out of that window. The synths come in. Shepherds is a survivor.
Starting point is 00:36:45 Is that the kind of person we want protecting the galaxy? That's the only kind of person who can protect the galaxy. I'll make the call. And the quantity Keith David's in the game? In the year 2148, explorers on Mars discovered the remains of an ancient space-faring civilization. Oh, the breath of music is just crazy. The music is fucking insane. The civilizations of the galaxy
Starting point is 00:37:10 call it dot dot dot. Nah, come on. That is such a fucking good idea. Ding ding ding ding ding ding. Yeah. You can't deny that. Yeah. You can't fucking deny that.
Starting point is 00:37:27 Even if you don't give a fuck. Like, come on. That is how you open something. Yeah, that is cold. And also, potentially maybe the best song in a video game um
Starting point is 00:37:44 I'm serious song oh bro are you joking me a song so good that like they just left it untouched for the sequel like now we got it it's perfect for what it is yeah I could just listen to this on repeat like
Starting point is 00:38:08 yeah forever it's yeah it's genuinely me. I'm actually like, this news fucking sucks. But it's got me thinking like, when the remasters came out, I'm pretty sure I play it on Xbox. Yeah. I can do that shit again on Steam.
Starting point is 00:38:29 Achieve time. I can do that shit. I go through all that pain again. Yeah. That's what I, I think that's why I get my hackles up so bad about it. Because like, that third one is so fucking shit. It doesn't matter, though.
Starting point is 00:38:44 one and two I feel like a so I don't know man I don't know what like you're like the way you feel about Arkham City is how I feel about my Svetu I guess this is a good way of like burn it like what that what that like game opened like imagination wise of like yeah yeah yeah just like oh my god you can like do this yeah it's um it's so like nerdy and dorky and like the more you put into it the more you get back you know yeah until you finish the third one. We don't need to play the third one. Just finish two and then just... No, I know, but it's not like a satisfying ending and then you want that and then then you think, oh, you know what, maybe... maybe I was too harsh on it. Maybe... maybe...
Starting point is 00:39:29 And then like, and then it's just worse. But we've got some pretty big discussions on the channel of all three mass fair games. I'm really proud actually of the trilogy of videos and how they like weirdly, the discussions echoed the games yeah and like the production was cool but oh fuck that this is my point I love this track yeah when they play it after um I guess spoiler some Mass VIII 3 after what happens with Morden they kick in this song I got to put this shit in bro they were on something else they were doing it you know um Sarah and I'm pretty sure is voiced by Baird really from kids
Starting point is 00:40:22 That's crazy. And I'm pretty sure he's Leonardo da Vinci from a Sanskrit 2. What the fuck? Yeah. Oh man, there's so many fucking good ones. This one? It was... Because MassWax 2 is where I started with that trilogy.
Starting point is 00:40:46 Yeah. You know, at the end of each level you get like the result screen. And it would play the elusive suite, like a section. like a section of it. I was just like, it was kind of similar to when I first saw the main menu of Halo 3 and was like, what the fuck is this? Yeah, yeah, neuron activation. Like actual like, entranced.
Starting point is 00:41:10 Yeah, yeah. Hello, like, hello. Like, almost like a religious euphoria. Yeah. It's like, come here. Yeah. That's how it like struck me. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:41:23 Um. It's a shame. they've ruined the whole trilogy with the third one there. Stop it. Genuinely. No, I love how much you love those games. One and two?
Starting point is 00:41:39 Yeah. No, they're special. They're really special. They are. And I was so glad that when I replayed them when that thing he came out, because I was like, how much of this is nostalgia? Yeah, yeah. I'm sure that's part of it, but like... I mean, I'm pretty I'm
Starting point is 00:41:58 Wow Sorry guys You should be Those are the kinds of thoughts What kinds of burps No Mass Effect 1 can't be that bad Because I'm pretty
Starting point is 00:42:12 Like If I'm not enjoying a game now I'm like okay dumb Delete Like I'm not playing you Um But I like played through The game
Starting point is 00:42:24 And I did a fair amount of the side shit as well. Mm-hmm. So even though it's, it's one of those games where like, kind of in the same way I see The Witcher 3, where it's like, this is requiring me to do like half the work with like,
Starting point is 00:42:46 yeah, making it cool, making it like, like, it doesn't necessarily feel that great. Mm-hmm. But the world building is so rich. Yeah, yeah. um that I'm ignoring the detractions.
Starting point is 00:43:01 Yeah, so again, imperfect diamond. Yeah. But what, but like, I find this concept with a role playing game where like,
Starting point is 00:43:11 it's kind of like D&D where you're, you're meeting it halfway and making me believe with it. Yeah, yeah. You know? Like you're seeing past like the jankiness or the,
Starting point is 00:43:21 yeah, but like the actual like MassFote 1 has straight up bad game. feel yeah and it is quite ugly that's got some ugliness sure like combat wise oh yeah those arenas and stuff and um for sure yeah and some frustrating bits but like it's a testament to all the stuff you were saying like the soundtrack the voice acting the the general world building the like the characters the characters and the the designs of all the aliens and stuff and like the Citadel.
Starting point is 00:43:59 The Mass Railay is like the coolest concept. Yeah, they're so, so awesome. Space slingshots. And all the, the history, I love that beginning, like the jar cruel. You know, the beginning text, um,
Starting point is 00:44:17 like that, that history is so thoughtful and rich. It's like a chocolatey goo pudding. With double-ontourn, of the name as well. Yeah. Just some good shit, man. Massive attack.
Starting point is 00:44:31 I like massive attack. They're not in the game, though. But like they, you kind of forget how important they were, how like story they were. Boulder's Gate, one and two,
Starting point is 00:44:44 Knights of the Old Republic, Jade Empire, the Mass Effect trilogy, Sonic Chronicles. What? Yeah, they released a DS game. In 2008. Dragon Age.
Starting point is 00:44:55 People love Dragon Age. edge yeah i never got into dragon edge um but because it sucks i think that was like their last game people liked right dragon age inquisition in 2014 yeah i just wasn't interested no no not not my cup of tea um but that was it yeah oh andromeda was 2017 anthem was 2019 so it was so yeah they were given oh my god to go andromeda and of Vale card. Yeah, it's not a good run, but I find it hard to believe that there wasn't a lot of EA meddling. Well, yeah, that was from Mass Effect 3, I would say that was...
Starting point is 00:45:38 Yeah, yeah. That was it, you know? Yeah. Well, like the whole... The list of priorities changed. Yeah, let's... Multiplayer pack selling, that's the top. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:45:52 So build all the gameplay and all the systems around that and work backwards. Saying that, I had a lot of fun at the time playing Mass Effect the Free Multi-Pillar. Yeah, they probably must have beat, actually, if they wanted some easy money. Like, back when they did the... Yeah, you would have been buying packs. You would have reopened that old wound. It was genuinely really addictive, that multiplayer. And you probably haven't seen this because they're Sony broken the last couple hours as a recording.
Starting point is 00:46:21 Their next Mass Effect was Mass Effect Universe. Yeah. and there was a trailer that has been like leaked um i thought they showed they straight up released it there have been there have been a couple of trailers um but there was like an unreleased one but actually like showed the setting more and like leara's in it and um i don't know if it's shepherd or some kind of new shepherd or something but it's i don't know it's it looks all like pre-rended to me but um
Starting point is 00:46:51 you know uh it's best not to even look really Yeah. I don't know if there's some kind of strategy to like... EA probably won't even sell it, they will. They probably want to just set on it. Yeah. I don't know what makes the most sense for them, but... I wish more studios, more, like, publishing companies or whatever you call them, would do the, like, Square Enix thing with Hitman.
Starting point is 00:47:25 Yeah. Just sell it to the dev. you know yeah we guess by aware is a subsidiary LVA so right
Starting point is 00:47:36 um yeah is is Dragon Age Inquisition no sorry Andromeda anthem Veilguard Uh huh As bad or equally bad
Starting point is 00:47:50 Is 343 Slash Halo Studios Last 3 games Who shit the bedmore Who shit the bed more? I mean Including Mass Effect 3 though No, I'm not including Mass Effect 3
Starting point is 00:48:06 Just the last three games Except if we're going that far back You'd have to like I'd sooner hop on a 343 Halo game Than any of those three Hmm As much as I hate those games Um
Starting point is 00:48:25 Because what were the last 3b, the Halo 1 remake, Halo Infinite, and I guess Halo 5. Oh, man. I could jump on Halo 5 and have a fucking peltry over time. No, they're pretty equally shite. And yeah, that is a lot of group. The thing is, bioware didn't, like, leave. It's still bioware.
Starting point is 00:48:55 Yeah, that's kind of what makes it sad in a different. way yeah I don't know how much of like the original by where yeah it's the ship's the easiest thing but yeah but it's it's just what a waste um I think like mass factory had its mistakes um and shit did not wind up how I would have liked it to you but Andromeda was the like nail in the coffin like yeah that for the franchise like there's no way you can go now because because like the actual jumping on point for like a spin-off series is like it's kind of cool idea actually yeah um don't mind that where they took it though yeah outside of kamele being in there of course i don't know what they were
Starting point is 00:49:40 thinking man yeah so like even if mass fat universe was awesome i feel like that's still like a ridiculous upward battle yeah and let alone if you're dragon age fan like i'm sorry with whatever the Vell Gub was. Helly fuck. Everything I've seen from that is like, whoa. Yeah. Like embarrassing. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:50:03 That's one of those games where like you're playing at home with, like, with your parents as a teenager and they walk in and you're like in Paris. Yeah. You like pause it. Yeah. So, um, it's kind of a sorry state of affairs. Yeah. It's been my like. my adult experience with like I mentioned
Starting point is 00:50:28 343 in Halo just like these things that meant everything to me being like just trampled and like yeah torn apart at the seams until the unrecognizable beyond unrecognizable like just lame all of the aura lost yeah the thing is just like let it go yeah no I'm fine with that I'm trying to think what was the it might have been mass fact 3 that like was the okay I just need to get over this like this shit is not going to last forever you know
Starting point is 00:51:00 you know what I thought for a period was like you know what if if in my head canon the indoctrination theory is just real the mass fact three is all right it's not it's not it's broken
Starting point is 00:51:17 but that's like that was like huge when MassFect 3 happened but I used to believe like oh why not like even if you didn't think of this why not just rip it
Starting point is 00:51:30 just take it yeah but like the problems is so much to even yeah yeah well we have a like a three hour video about that yeah and which
Starting point is 00:51:40 I'd played it way more recently so everything I say there is like actually informed whereas I'm just trying to remember what I was saying before um Yeah, so anything else on BioWare? Rip?
Starting point is 00:51:57 Yeah, you made two good games. That's more than two. Anthem was pretty good. I know, I'm just being a dick. Yeah, who's next? You know, that Grim Reaper meme, like knocking on doors. Yeah, yeah. Dun Halo, done.
Starting point is 00:52:14 Yeah, well. Mass effect. I don't want to say it, but I am worried. About what? Coalition. Oh shit, yeah. That's different. That's like almost more frustrating because it's like the game's really good.
Starting point is 00:52:29 Yeah. That's what worry. That's what really worries me. Because like, and it's not just good, but I really want another one. I know. Yeah. It almost demands another one. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:52:41 I'm genuinely like excited. Mm-hmm. Did you want to mention that? Because we finished Edo. Yeah, yeah. I don't know. Did you want to? Yeah, we can do like.
Starting point is 00:52:54 And as they say, but I'd quite like to play it a little bit more. Because I've been playing a bit of verses. Like there's a Halloween mode. We have a pumpkin head. That's fun. Like all the items are, you know, it's usually weapon, placed weapons. They're all pumpkins and there's a chance like you can get any weapon or just explode. Right.
Starting point is 00:53:11 That's funny. Yeah. I do want to mention, because I told you, I bought Gears 5. Oh, yeah. Because I love the hoard in that game. and I jumped on it and I played like the end of a game. Like in multiplayer, like people were playing it? Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:53:34 Okay. Well, you can like, um, search for servers? Oh, can you? Yeah. I'm trying to remember what I, like, if I played it on PC, I can't remember. I don't think it was on Steam. I think I was playing it through GamePass. I did as well, so hence me having to buy it.
Starting point is 00:53:51 Right. Oh, so you can just host a server and people can, join um yeah so you can like search for like the difficulty you want and um i think hopped in yeah um and it's not the game i played back when it came out how so there are like there were like there were what four like classes there's like engineer oh yeah they added loads and loads of shit yeah now there's like five per four right and it's like too much and i was like this isn't what I jump back on for so I actually refunded it damn yeah I was kind of um because I just wanted like a simple dumb game and then I jump on and I'm like trying to read these
Starting point is 00:54:38 menus and stuff and there's so much to absorb I was like yeah I got deep into that during 2020 I think it was yeah um was that was that the case when you were playing it like I was playing piece five through all of the updates that were doing really yeah Yeah, yeah. Right. But yeah, it just, it wasn't at all what I remembered. And then I wondered, was it actually Gears 4 that I really rents the hoard on? Yeah, it was.
Starting point is 00:55:04 Was it? Oh. Because I mostly played by myself on 5. Oh, okay. Yeah. It was like my just, like, disappear from the world, like. Yeah, right. Just.
Starting point is 00:55:16 Um. Like, I was doing full games, like, solo. Bloody hell. Yeah. On, like, how difficult to you? I can't remember what I was, do I? But it gave me a new level of appreciation for the new gears. You know, even just in like the moment-to-moment gameplay, like, the UI, the general game feel,
Starting point is 00:55:48 the feedback of when you're like damaging enemies and stuff. Like every skin you can just like it with like coins. Yeah. And show like that. It's like, let's go. You don't have to buy shit. It's like flopped. But, um...
Starting point is 00:56:02 They did that to themselves. Well, Microsoft did that to them. Yeah. They just made the game. But, um... Yeah, like, some of the acts of the campaign are... Like, in the conversation of some of the best acts in Gears of World Games. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:56:18 Like, three is, like, fucking awesome. Yeah. In particular. I was, um, considering maybe, like, in the near future asking if you'd want to try and do it through one in insanity oh yeah no I'm definitely gonna do an insanity round for sure I wasn't sure if you wanted to do that co-op or not I'd be down I think it would take some locking in yeah would because we did it on the difficulty just below that yeah for our co-op run we did yeah so yeah I guess unless you had anything else you wanted to say about that we can leave that yeah yeah into it more depth and it and it's a own video but um in that case we'll see after these messages yeah bottoms get wiped rankers on PS5 out now PlayStation this is wild
Starting point is 00:57:16 laude bhaar downloading wankers on my Xbox which one is Bart's real scream Benis shirley. Check please. Fee. Kewa Lloyd, look away, to Kway, to Kway, that's my life, silly. I like big, fuck, see, happy, Xbox. Hey. You let me be inside you.
Starting point is 00:57:52 Wee. Welcome to the second hour for the cast, where we answer questions from the job media group chat and the suggestion thread over on the subreddit. Hip, hip. Which you could do as well. Wow. Path West Jarling can start us off here. Hi Alex, just wanted to let you know that I successfully decoded your secret message from last week's episode and I will carry out your orders to the letter. See you on the news.
Starting point is 00:58:24 Good. Excellent. Hibbidi-jibody I'm jiggling said, saw Alex watch the smash new film Whale for. Very, very interested to hear what you thought. I shit you not, the dude gets stuck in a whale. Really? It's pretty funny.
Starting point is 00:58:42 Austin Abrams in a whale. Yeah, yeah. Help, I'm in the whale. And it's just like him stuck in a whale. Yeah. And then it would do flashbacks to Thanos yelling at him. Think, son. You idiot think.
Starting point is 00:58:57 Awesome. Think about what you do if you were in a whale. Yeah, that's genuinely the whole film. I saw it in 40X as well. Oh, hell yeah. It was me and two old grannies at the back. And it's really fun. fucking violent.
Starting point is 00:59:11 Like, you have to, like, hold on and you'll be, like, thrown around. I was thinking,
Starting point is 00:59:15 like, if I need the toilet, like, yeah, safety is that? Like, it's genuinely, like,
Starting point is 00:59:20 there's pistons and, like, you can't hear the fucking film. You get fnaffed from, like, mangled.
Starting point is 00:59:25 Yeah. It's just, like, spraying water everywhere and, like, poking you on the back and shit.
Starting point is 00:59:32 What? This is insane. What's stupid idea? Oh, it's awful. Yeah, fucking sucks. I only did it because it was like the only day I could see it before recording so hard. And I needed to see it at a certain time of the day for it to line up.
Starting point is 00:59:51 And it was only on in 40X at that time. So it was like, you know what? I'm going to take the plunge and whale fall. Do you know what a whale fall is? One of whale falls? Yeah. Why is it a term there? I don't know.
Starting point is 01:00:08 Josh Brolin looks at Austin Abrams and goes, that son is the whale fall That's fucking cold Yeah That's actually when a whale dies Yeah and they fall No but it's a term because they create like a whole
Starting point is 01:00:27 ecosystem Yeah the snow For like decades Like when they die The snow The fuck you're talking about the snow The snow like at the There's like snow at the bottom of the ocean
Starting point is 01:00:39 That's just like dead bits of snow like the silt yeah yeah they call it um the snow is just like a really confusing way no because it's all like white bits of dead fish like silk
Starting point is 01:00:52 yeah but it looks like snow because that's all the bottom feeders are like sifting through yeah yeah I'd be one of them if I was a creature um quern has a question hello slimy's
Starting point is 01:01:09 started playing the Arkham games because of the master debate, banger alert, wonder if you two would consider doing another as they say on a classic video game. And if so, which game would either of you like to talk about for hours and hours and hours? I've got one that I've had in my mind for a while.
Starting point is 01:01:28 I might be able to guess it. Is it beginning with an R? Yeah. Is it Resident Evil 2? Yeah. Yeah. I've still got to play Residentable 4. The remake.
Starting point is 01:01:42 yeah because I'd quite like to just like go through them every single one not every single one we play a resonable five though let's know if you want us to talk about Resident Evil 5 therefore forcing Alex to play it then you have to do six
Starting point is 01:02:00 as well yeah dude we could try I've tried multiple times but I own it is the whole game co-op yeah six yeah he's got like seven
Starting point is 01:02:12 campaigns. It's got three campaigns plus I think a secret campaign. Jesus Christ. Yeah, but like, is all. Yeah, but shit. Like, I mean, I'd, I'd be down to play through all of Resident Evil 5. Mm-hmm. Cough up. I'd be down to see how far we could get into Resident Evil 6. Like a challenge of stuff. Yeah. Yeah. Right. And you could choose. like the campaigns and like what order like maybe do a bit of one see how far we can get into it a bit of another
Starting point is 01:02:48 see how far we can get. Yeah each one goes its own like timer. Yeah and like I've heard some people say like it's so like batch it insane it it pulls them through like to playing the whole game. I remember people saying they're like the Leon one I think it was
Starting point is 01:03:03 the Leon campaign yeah I mean I didn't know if that was just coping because that was like the low point it was like their Haley So five. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:03:18 Yeah, just a reminder, we have done the Mass Effect one or two and three discussions. Yeah. We did Red Dead 2. Red Dead One might be a nice one. Yeah, I was just about to say. I never finished that remaster. Yeah. Something else came out.
Starting point is 01:03:35 We could do the original Halo games. Yeah, I'd be there for that. Every week. Four and five. Oh my God. Yeah, what counts is classic? Yeah, yeah. How old can we get it?
Starting point is 01:03:50 Uh, yeah, nothing before four. Uh, yeah, how old is that to be? There's so many. Like, the original Gators? Uh. Yeah, I'd like to do two and three. Yeah. Of Gators.
Starting point is 01:04:08 Not one. I feel like, I don't know. One is like the weakest one. not including the yeah including four um and i put when they read did the remake thing i played that
Starting point is 01:04:21 the remaster thing yeah so yeah i don't know maybe um maybe dog the metal gay games yeah i've been thinking about that actually metal gear sort of two I think we could
Starting point is 01:04:39 attempt and this is out there and this is like way long term but maybe not like we play them separately, but like we sit down together. Yeah, I was going to say, I think I would need that. I don't have to do my own. Maybe do like a take turns kind of thing. And go through that way.
Starting point is 01:05:03 So I think that would also be a good way to get me to finally play all the way through Motogersolid 1. Yeah. Yeah. It's definitely one of those gamer-cred games that is like lacking for me. Yeah, yeah, yeah. So I think, yeah, and I think we could have some interesting discussions about those. So if you'd be interested in hearing those discussions, let us know.
Starting point is 01:05:26 I would, yeah, I would, I think I would want to prioritize solid two and three, though probably. Yeah. What about the trilogy? One, two, three. I know. Maybe if I liked him enough, then go back, or is that blasphemy? I did that have a mouse vote. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:05:43 I feel like. Especially from your perspective of Metal Gear, playing one before two would help. Yeah. Right. Like kind of big time. It's kind of really like intertwined. I also think I would love five, but I'm scared to play it because I think I would just play it so much. Really?
Starting point is 01:06:09 Yeah, I think the gameplay loop would get me. It's fucking cool. It's really cool. Whereas it's more like the story of two in particular. Yeah. I'm interested in. But you, what do you know about the story of the first one?
Starting point is 01:06:29 Just the, the base, right? Yeah, whatever it's called. Shadow Moses. Yeah, Shadow Moses, that's it. Really? Because that's like an awesome perspective to have. I think, I think we should seriously consider this. Because I've watched, I've watched, like, video.
Starting point is 01:06:47 about them before but I've got no point of reference and they're saying like osolot and just referencing all this shit I'm like well I don't know what you're talking about really um well there's like there's like this what the fuck they've got like crazy names just like everyone in dust stranding does the one that reads your safe um um mantis psychomantus psychomantus yeah i swear this is like an even crazier one but um decoy octopus yeah that's the one Dude, Decoy Octopus is the reason to play,
Starting point is 01:07:23 Malga's all I want. Really? Yeah, because, yeah, no, genuinely, like... The name is like, okay. No, you'll, you will, um, you'll get something seriously special out of Decoy Octopus, let me tell you. It sounds so crazy.
Starting point is 01:07:39 Yeah. In a way that you can't even comprehend right now. I don't know. Fat man Fat man That's Mogad Solity I know like the odd one Yeah
Starting point is 01:07:51 Not like who they are what they are Yeah Vamp He's a Monkoslety He's an actual vampire Yeah he's a vampire He's a bisexual vampire Fuck yeah
Starting point is 01:08:02 Okay Um Cool Yeah I also think Us Satan through Morgosoli 4 could be a romp as well Oh my God It was just like
Starting point is 01:08:14 It might as well be like a movie reaction. Yeah, but you can like, you can make fun of it. Watch it, yeah, in that kind of like Sub-zone. Is it even like in a playable form that's not on PS-3? Yeah, they released it. They released the like second collection. Oh, that came out, do it? Yeah.
Starting point is 01:08:31 Yeah, I could like buy it on the PS5 and we could play it on, like on the sofa. I think it still holds the record for the longest cutscene. Like the Dude. The Guinness World Record. Yeah. I think it's like an IMAX film. It's like a 40x film Metal Gear Solid
Starting point is 01:08:52 Longest cutscene I don't know the exact length Yeah the longest What is it like 40 minutes In the series And in video game history It's a 71 minute epilop That's fucking insane
Starting point is 01:09:07 That game broke my PS3 Yeah Yeah that seemed like it was going a bit too far, but yeah. Yeah, but then you watch it and it's like, mm-hmm. You loved it. Yeah, because you can zoom in.
Starting point is 01:09:24 Oh, interactive cutscenes. Yeah, you just like zoom in. Oh, my God. Yeah. Well, Marcus Chandler has one. Bear Bear Gentleman. Question about the cast. With the podcast running for 10 years,
Starting point is 01:09:37 I was wondering what your perspective is on the fan base as a whole. Do you ever find it strange that thousands of people know so much about you from listening to countless hours of conversations while you know nothing about them. Does that ever get frustrating
Starting point is 01:09:49 that as the podcast has changed over the years or every time there's a slight bit of drama, you have a bunch of complete strangers trying to dig in and get as much information as possible. I myself have been listening since year nine and I'm about to graduate with my finance degree. So I admittedly find it hard not to feel a bit parisocial,
Starting point is 01:10:09 just wondering what your perspective is as the people actually make the content. well I I question yeah I understand the urge the urge to what
Starting point is 01:10:19 to dig it yeah because I feel that way about like podcasts and people have followed for a long time yeah it's only like natural
Starting point is 01:10:28 yeah but it is people do go too further oh god yeah and it is weird yeah and like that line
Starting point is 01:10:36 yeah and I quite like to have a line yeah same you know I like to A lot of people online I think
Starting point is 01:10:46 Overshare to a degree Where it's like Yeah How is this useful You know If you're turning your Like There's talking about
Starting point is 01:10:56 Subjects like video games And movies And shit like that Yeah Yeah And then there's like The content being The drama of your life
Starting point is 01:11:04 You know what I mean? Yeah It's it's That is Cultivating One of those relationships. Parasocial. Parasocial relationship. Yeah. I mean, if you're like a functioning human with like a base level of empathy, you're, and you're listening to someone a lot, you're going to
Starting point is 01:11:23 be curious or like, yeah, yeah, have some kind of idea. Um, yeah, and it's, it, it's a form of caring, even if it is like, um, misguided. Disconnected. Yeah. Yeah. Um, do I get frustrated though every time so. I did actually like, I got frustrated recently on the subreddit and normally I don't like engage on like the speculation. Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 01:11:52 Every now and again it gets to a degree where when the speculation is so off base, I feel like I just have to correct the record. Yeah. Yeah, which I did do the other day. Which I felt like I'd needed to. Uh-huh. But for the most part, I've got a pretty good balance.
Starting point is 01:12:11 with that, I think. I find the thing that frustrates me most is when I'm told, like, a take of mine is wrong. Right. It's like, like, whatever I was saying last episode or the episode before that, like, I'm just saying how I feel about shit, you know? Just because I don't agree with, like, 90% of, or like, the consensus or whatever, you know? Right.
Starting point is 01:12:39 It's it for me it's frustrating when it's like a bad faith interpretation. I'm fine with disagreeing. No, I'm fine with disagreeing, but when it's like, um, like that's, like the implication that I'm wrong because everybody else says something else. Right. That's like, like, tell me, tell me why you feel I'm wrong. Not just like, you say, this.
Starting point is 01:13:14 You know, and like, that's enough. It's like, that's fucking boring. You know, there's nothing to like work with the... Yeah, yeah. No, that is... Lazy. Or just like people interpreting, like, the worst... The worst of you, even if...
Starting point is 01:13:33 Because, like, some people get quite conspiratorial. Where, like, I might omit something from a comment and put, like, no thought into it, but then it's interpreted by the question asker that it was like this malicious like meticulous yeah yeah yeah like yeah all this stuff that you're like
Starting point is 01:13:50 creating this this alternate jar universe to like I'm mad with power yeah yeah he's gone narrative control he's he's he's gone Murdoch yeah I don't know
Starting point is 01:14:06 I feel like I know what it is and I treat it for what it is yeah for the most part Um, but yeah, um, it's just that line.
Starting point is 01:14:19 It's just about that line, you know, thinking about that line. Because like, even the people I've been most parisocial with, I would never, like, post anything about it.
Starting point is 01:14:27 Like, I'd, at most, just, like, read something, you know? Yeah. You're on a thread somewhere,
Starting point is 01:14:33 read something. But I'm not going to be, like, investigating shit myself. Yeah, it's weird. Um, I had a thought, but it seems to have fluttered by.
Starting point is 01:14:46 Yeah, just like, um, perspective on the fan base as a whole. One thing I like, because it's gone for so long is like the churn, like of names. There's like eras, when you'll see like a certain name for a while. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:15:00 To like this kind of thing. Yeah, it's cool. Yeah, I like it. Yeah, I, and, um, yeah, I like, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, really like interacting this way.
Starting point is 01:15:14 like with the the community. Like I feel like there's there's not as much value in me in the moment articulating and reacting to like you delivering me a question or a comment or whatever rather than me like having the time
Starting point is 01:15:36 to like write out super articulately. Oh right. It's got to be more of the dome. Yeah. And it's like Like, I feel somewhat more authentic. Mm. Um, and it, it, it, it, it, in my twisted mind, it, like, adds, uh, value to what I'm saying more so. Mm-hmm. And the, the interaction that is had with me through this space.
Starting point is 01:16:07 Yeah. You know? Mm-hmm. I hear you, man. Yeah, I don't know. Um. So Reloge said Howdy Boys I talk about Jail to my wife periodically
Starting point is 01:16:20 And now she's expressed interest in watching an episode together Please make sure the next episode is extra funny But not too funny because then the rest of the show will look like trash by comparison You chose the wrong episode Also talk about something my wife would enjoy You can take your pick of the options Also no funny business unless you really feel it's necessary Thanks as always
Starting point is 01:16:40 The Check is in the mail I hope she likes Gears of War on Massify Yeah And GTA Oh yeah And a bit of GTA GTA
Starting point is 01:16:51 GTA music specifically This is yeah It's kind of been a music Video game heavy episode It has actually Yeah Did justice do the Mass Effect sound joke Oh yeah
Starting point is 01:17:02 Oh yeah baby That's bird by it Yeah this has been like a dorky one But I like that I like a nice dog I fucking love video I like dorky things I'm a dora dead
Starting point is 01:17:15 I like creativity through wacky creations people come up with yeah dork shit I also like doggies doggy I'm gonna ask this one from Captain Jacks off who
Starting point is 01:17:30 they've been in the threat this is like speaking of like the fan base and like certain aspects of it I never know how much how to balance that like, because it's fun, like the craziness, the antics
Starting point is 01:17:46 sometimes. Yeah. But sometimes the occasional person can go too far. I'm not saying that Jacks off has. I'm more kind of like fascinated sometimes. Like with this this recurring question they've been asking about the Nintendo DS, right? Mm-hmm.
Starting point is 01:18:03 They must have asked it for like three or four question threads, but in one of them, it was like this fucking there was this whole section about like wanking like in the middle because I guess the captain jack's off right
Starting point is 01:18:19 and it was like why would I bring that part up and it's specified at the end like don't read the part about wanking and they'd be like drop that bit because I think they'd like figure out that I wasn't going to read it but I guess I'll do this bit What dove Jim and Alex think of the Nintendo DS?
Starting point is 01:18:44 I think the dual screen clamshell design was revolutionary, and I love the DSI model with the Game Boy Jackoff. It made for a thinner and more comfortable feel. While the first party offerings left a little something to be desired, the amount of unique games that launched from third parties on the DS is unmatched. I mean, hello, Professor Leighton, Castlevania, porno in the browser, and GTIH Chinatown Wars. Now this I like.
Starting point is 01:19:08 I love the DS and I'll love to hear what Jim thinks about it. Me? You were a bit more of a DS. DS player. Oh, for sure. I played a couple games. I only ever had the classic one though. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:19:22 We never got a new DS. No, we never got shit. We got like a fucking fucked up DS that was like broken. Yeah, yeah. It was some, it was like a friend's old one, I think. Yeah. So we didn't, yeah, we didn't even get it. borrowed some games I remember playing
Starting point is 01:19:41 Yeah I think I played Final Fantasy 3 Yeah I had a Final Fantasy game I think Didn't it wasn't there a Final Fantasy 12 game on this Yeah yeah yeah it was like a I remember liking that a lot Yeah I did Yeah it was Final Fantasy 3
Starting point is 01:19:59 I got to like a level and it was just impossible Yeah it was really fucking hard Yeah But like Revenant Wings Final Fantasy yeah That was like the only game I bought I think on DS. Really?
Starting point is 01:20:12 Yeah. Um, I mostly played like Mario 64. And, you know, the, the first Mario DS game, you know?
Starting point is 01:20:29 The first Mario DS game. Where he goes giant, oh, really small. Oh, yeah. Super Mario Bros. Was it new Super Mario Bros? Yeah,
Starting point is 01:20:41 that sounds right. Oh, you liked the, like, Bowser's story and, like, those RPGs. Bowser's Inside Story? That's right.
Starting point is 01:20:49 That's a belter of a game. Yeah, I forgot about that. I absolutely loved that game. I'd completely forgotten about that. Yeah, you're like eaten by Bowser. It's like an RPG, but with the timing stuff going on.
Starting point is 01:21:05 Yeah, really good. I don't know if it holds up, but I loved that game. But great memories of Mario 64. Absolutely loved it Sorry, Pears Did you play the Mario Kart Dias?
Starting point is 01:21:22 I never owned it I never owned it either But I have memories of taking A DS to like Sleepovers and you could like play it Co-op without owning a copy or something Yeah, yeah I have memories of playing it
Starting point is 01:21:36 But it was never mine Yeah Because again we never got We never got new shit You know I think like Bowser's Inside Story was like that only new game. We got Game Boy advanced SPs.
Starting point is 01:21:53 Yeah. I only really remember playing Pokemon. Pokemon and that weird Crash Bandicoot game. Oh, yeah. What the fuck? All of those games are weird. I don't like Crash Bandicoot. That weird Star Wars game that's like impossible. Yeah, that...
Starting point is 01:22:12 We got that somewhere. I think I might have it. I think you have it. I spotted it. Yeah. Yeah, because I got both the Game Boys at mine. Yeah. Yeah, it's Fire Red and Leaf Green. I...
Starting point is 01:22:26 Now, again, like, even into my later teens, when the 3DS came out, um, I played a lot of Smash Bros. That was like... Yeah, I forgot about that. Yeah. And I got decent. I was pretty good. Um...
Starting point is 01:22:46 Yeah, I never fucked with that. But yeah, I never owned it So I'd have to just like bum off other people in like the social areas Yeah, yeah And like hop on for a game Um Yeah No, it's kind of a funny era
Starting point is 01:23:04 In like hindsight Yeah I guess they're kind of spoiled now Mm-hmm Switch You can just like play a full on smash broods Like play out of ring Fuck yeah
Starting point is 01:23:19 Yeah Yeah, well, like, when I went to see fucking Whalefall, there was a cod advert that was like a Switch 2. It was for the Switch 2 version. Oh, wow. Yeah, weird, weird times, man. So I hope that's, is that for you? I wonder what happened to that, D.S. It defoe died.
Starting point is 01:23:42 It was like busted when we got it, let alone. Yeah, it probably, James probably ripped it off. Yeah, no, yeah. probably like under the floorboards. Let's do a couple more here and round this guy down. Skippy Dibby says, Hello Bloodcock fan community. I simply must share a delightful experience I had today
Starting point is 01:24:06 as I listen to the onboarding episode. I work as a bloody page in a bloody public library. And in the precise moment, Alex mentioned the beloved 2022 film Uncharted, A DVD copy of it appeared in the return bin before my very eyes. Just pause that a minute. What do they mean they work as a page in a book? They are the book.
Starting point is 01:24:30 That's cool. That's a cool concept. Yeah, they're like trapped in a book. They are the book. Yeah. Okay. Had they not been attuned to such coincidences, I would have been surprised.
Starting point is 01:24:43 Ever since I really started paying attention to them a few years back, They've been popping up bloody everywhere Every since The songs I play always seem to end Precisely when I reach my destination The lyrics in them appear to me in ads, books and other places In the precise moment they are sung
Starting point is 01:24:59 When I study history Personal connections to my subject of choice Manifest in my life I think of someone I know And just like that I run into them It's just like the old boy Carl Jung said Synchronicity is an ever-present reality
Starting point is 01:25:12 For those with eyes to see Have you lads experience anything similar. What the fuck, you schizophrenic? Yeah. It's like that Jim Carrey movie, like the number 43 or something. Yeah, it's
Starting point is 01:25:28 it's coincidences, dude. It's a term that I know by always fucking forget. You know, when you have a conclusion and you look for evidence to speak. Yeah, bias. Confirmation bias.
Starting point is 01:25:44 Yeah. It's a very real thing. Oh, absolutely. It's like the, you know, when you get a car, then suddenly you start seeing that car everywhere. Yeah. It's how you're looking for it. Yeah, yeah, you know what it looks like. Yeah, see, I had this thing for a little while, maybe kind of a long while where I was like, I so often, like, when doing like maths and stuff or like, like,
Starting point is 01:26:16 just paying attention to numbers, I see my home address. Or not my... Like the number. The childhood home. Yeah. The number of that house. Yeah. And then I was... That's what we're talking about there. Yeah, yeah. And like, the... I knew it wasn't like anything mystical or whatever, but like, it is the confirmation bias thing. And it's like, well, yeah, I'm obviously going to notice that
Starting point is 01:26:45 because I ignore every other irrelevant number. Yeah. So on the rare occasion that that number does come up, I'm like, ooh, that's weird. Yeah, it's like a fault with our brains, kind of. We like interpret meaning from pattern recognition of things we've trained it. It is pattern recognition. And it's really easy to see patterns where there aren't any.
Starting point is 01:27:12 So that's all it is. I did find it weird though after we recorded the Alvin month where I looked in the clouds and it literally looked exactly like Theodore smiling. I started seeing red hoodies everywhere. Then I look in the mirror and I was wearing a red hoodie and I'm like, what? You'd been alvinized. Yeah. Yeah. Paisley's dreaming.
Starting point is 01:27:38 Oh. Um, not to do this as like a full like topic thing. maybe we can indulge in this and more, but Po the Panda's very epic says, can we get a Jim superhero movie tier list at some point, please? Yes. Every superhero movie. No, I think it'd be like notable ones that stand out in your mind.
Starting point is 01:28:00 Like right now, give me two S-Tiers and two F-tears. Two S-Tiers. Yeah. Spider-Man 2. Yeah, good choice. Definitely S-tier. Don't do it. Do you know what I'm going to do?
Starting point is 01:28:21 I have a feeling. I think, I'm just trying to think, um. Ant man quantum nature. I haven't even watched that one. We should do with Modoc Cat. Or is it Murdoch, sorry? Wait, no. It is Modoc.
Starting point is 01:28:44 Yeah, murder something. Yeah. guess us an F tier an F tier 4-2 other S-2 can't be that hard it's really hard to not say
Starting point is 01:29:08 because I've got a bit of recency bias because you've been watching Batman lately I have been watching I've been playing Spider-Man as well so that's probably why Spider-Man too came so quick
Starting point is 01:29:24 No, Spider-Man 2 would always appear. That's like my go-to... Even people who don't like superhero movies like that one. Yeah. You know what? What? Ooh, this is... I'm going to say Guardians of the Galaxy 3.
Starting point is 01:29:51 Wow, okay. And are there F-2? Are there F-T Guardians of the Galaxy 1? No, that's... More than Marvel? That's rage bait. Four were Marble. Another F tier?
Starting point is 01:30:05 Yeah. Uh, Batman v Superman. Yeah. There's your DC. Um, right. Let's do two more.
Starting point is 01:30:22 Um, Chicken Man said many years ago, I was tired of my question slash feedback always being overlooked by Alex every episode. So I made three old accounts on Reddit and left three comments that were similarly worded but functionally the same. Why didn't you make three patrons as well?
Starting point is 01:30:39 To increase my chances of my feedback being read out. To my surprise, Alex read all three of them. And I felt guilty as Alex, Jim and James spent 20 minutes of a 55-minute cast, debating feedback from listeners who are all me. I've lived with the shame ever since. I think that's like you're playing the game. Yeah, yeah. Because I admit, like I have a bias towards names I don't recognize.
Starting point is 01:31:04 I do you pick them you pick you're more likely to be picked if you're okay so do with that as you that makes sense sometimes sometimes I know though as well like sometimes I like sometimes they think they're being so fucking smart but their name is like so like obviously like I can tell by the fucking cadence of your words you motherfucker yeah he knows you he knows each and every one of you because I've been planning this I build sophisticated AI algorithms around the words of every comment. Why do you think I say of every comment is to train the jar AI so I can figure out who
Starting point is 01:31:42 everyone is and track them down, figure out what's going on. The J.A.I. J.A.I, yeah. The Jamie Alex intelligence. So, yeah. Nice one, chicken man. Nice one, chicken man. Is that the chicken man as in from Family Guy? As in Ted, creator, family guy man. see you always bring it full circle that's how you do this
Starting point is 01:32:06 do you remember an old jar meme speaking of clips from movies with um video game health bars edited onto them yeah because we found one of those of a chicken fight with health fun from that thing I put a screenshot of it in um I forgot about that as a thing entirely yeah it was like a weird like trend for a bit yeah I mean it's still like a niche I think
Starting point is 01:32:32 Yeah, I put that in the, um, fucking Simpsons video. Nice. That's such a good video. Right, let's end on this one then from Two Dev the Hero. Opinions on the government banning stuck porn among genres. Do you think two years in prison is a fitting punishment for those in possession of materials in which consenting adults pretending to do things which would be legal for you to do? Or should they be put away for longer? Yeah, fuck it.
Starting point is 01:33:06 Put them away forever. I'm thinking life. Yeah. If you're caught in... No parole, like, in solitary forever. And if we create the technology while you're in there to like have your mind uploaded to an eternal prison. That's what you go for stuck porn. That's crazy.
Starting point is 01:33:32 a good use of time and resources. Yeah, yeah. That's the problem right now. Stuck porn. Yeah. Male loneliness caused by stuck porn. God.
Starting point is 01:33:48 All these lonely boys think they're just going to come across a stuck winning. What's like a visual metaphor for it? You know, like, imagine like a plaster that's been sat in your medicine cabinet for it for so long that all the adhesives dried out. Yeah, yeah. And you have like a wound that's fucking gangrenous. Yeah, you grab that plaster and you like put it over the gangrene. Yeah, you've like lost the leg and it's gangrenous.
Starting point is 01:34:13 And it's like, there you go. Yeah. Sold it. Ah. All better. Yeah. The thing, how much do you think it costs to like get that signed into law? Like the opportunity cost is huge.
Starting point is 01:34:29 Yeah. Plus the actual manpower of then enforcing it. The robot power. What you mean? I keep bringing up like... On the last Sardonicust they did, I mentioned that like I keep seeing robots in my everyday life. Yeah. Like in the supermarket.
Starting point is 01:34:47 Yeah, yeah. And they're both like, what the fuck is going on in the UK? Because neither of them have seen robots. They didn't have robots in fucking... I'm surprised America doesn't have them everywhere. Yeah. They got like robot dogs with flame throws patrolling the streets Have you not come across one?
Starting point is 01:35:04 Yeah, because like I see the Well, the robots I've seen so far Just look like gong droids or R2D2. R2. With like name type of. Or R3. R4. R4.
Starting point is 01:35:20 Yeah, I feel a visceral rage when I see them and I just want to fight. You want a gentle guy. Yeah, I want to fucking Yeah Yeah Are you an R2D2 main or C3PO guy This might be a hot take But I actually like way prefer C3Pio
Starting point is 01:35:38 I think he Thank the Maker I think him in Empire Is so perfect Like He's he's fucking funny He's like genuinely really funny in that In that one
Starting point is 01:35:54 Yeah I think If he wasn't in that dynamic of like the Han Solo crew in that film, it would be a worse film. No, it would. Like significantly worse. Yeah. It's such like a weird, like...
Starting point is 01:36:10 It's an awesome dynamic. Yeah. Everyone just hates his ass. Yeah. They're just like annoyed by him. Apart from Chubaku, he like goes out of his way to put him. And he puts his head on wrong.
Starting point is 01:36:22 And it's like the one guy that, that like goes out of his way to help C3POC. 3Pio's like, you stupid fucking hairy cunt. It's like, what the fuck's he's the one guy who's got your back? Yeah, literally. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:36:40 I need to re-watch that shit right now. Yeah. Beautiful film. That is a film fan. That's not a movie. It's a film. R4.3PO. Let's go on a mission.
Starting point is 01:36:56 Doesn't he have 5PO or something? R4, 5bO, we need to move out. It does a sign. Yeah, man. They took C3Bio too far, though. They took him so far and then brought him back to being kind of badass when he's doing a full action scene in the back of the clothes. When it's a Dai Chadai. Yeah, the whole thing conveyor.
Starting point is 01:37:26 Oh, yeah, yeah. He's doing like parkour. Yeah. Yeah, they made him cool with that one. Yeah, maybe that's a film we should react to do. Yeah. It's been a while since I've seen the prequels, to be honest. Did we do?
