Starting point is 00:00:00 The midnight and the rock and roll. He's in a fight for wrestling soul using a racket and some mind control. He's Jim Connett. The keys to the future. At the three-part dark side of the ring on Jeff Jarrett and the Battle for TNA, we'll talk about Dave and Brian battling over AEW and the battle for logic in Tony Kahn's mind may be lost. All that and more in joining me. Hawaiian Brian the podcasting line
Starting point is 00:01:24 The King of the Arcading Vanguard podcast network Mr. Co-host to you he's in fighting fit fighting for air and fit for nothing the great Brian last everybody Oh loha Jim A pleasure to be here on this smoky day For some great talk
Starting point is 00:01:40 The King of Smoky Mountain talking to someone Right now in the midst of a smoky haze Thanks Canada You have and by the way That is of the fighting for air And fit for nothing That's an old Bobby Fulton line that he picked up when he was a kid and went to Calgary from all the old British shooters and things like John Foley that they end up there.
Starting point is 00:02:03 Yeah, when I get finished with you, you'll be in fighting fit, fighting for air and fit for nothing. But apparently are you fighting? It's just hot and miserable and the dew point here in Louisville, Kentucky. They say after it's going to rain a few days and then it's going to get almost to 80 by Tuesday and it's just going to be muggy and swampy and then it's going to break and we're going to have fresh air coming in. But you not only have heat, you have some type of air pollution situation going on. Is it red alert?
Starting point is 00:02:38 Pretty much red skies. You know, this would be the perfect time to go in the pool. It's hot. It's hazy. The pool is as clean as it's been all year. It's ready to go. Got water in it? Yeah, there's water in it.
Starting point is 00:02:51 air is bad. Being in it. From one day to another. But the air. And thanks Canada, the Canada wildfires. This is now the second time this has happened in recent years where the skies turn red. It smells like burning wood.
Starting point is 00:03:06 And it's apparently really, really unhealthy for you. And it's even worse in Michigan and I think Chicago right now. Well, you know where it's even worse? In fucking Canada. Where's your goddamn sympathy for them? fucking country, their wild kingdom up there is burning and just massive amounts that you're worried about a little smoke and ash and carcinogen and pollution that you're going to inhale to engage in diseases, who knows when, maybe not for two, three years.
Starting point is 00:03:40 These are pool days. And you see what happens when Jace goes on vacation? Well, he did. You know, Kay Fab. He leaves town right as the fucking fire star. Mr. Toronto, Mr. Toronto himself took off. They're going to be talking to him. They're going to bring him in for some questioning. So you just left town conveniently right before the whole fucking province went up in flames, pal. Why are you in a ruba?
Starting point is 00:04:08 I'm on vacation. I swear, I swear. Oh, yeah, sure. Do you think we are a rube? Huh? Anyhow. So can you breathe? Can you breathe another day up there?
Starting point is 00:04:22 I start looking around for another co-host. No, it's gotten okay. It's gotten better today. The breeze has helped out a little bit, and it's starting to move out, but it's still not perfect. And this is boring. It's getting better all the time. Better.
Starting point is 00:04:40 Just go out and take a deep breath and go, that's what every time I would touch down in the state of Wisconsin, I would walk out and I'd go, smell that dairy air. You know, that was their logo. Right. The dairy state or the dairy state of dairy air. It was a fucking, every time I went, God damn.
Starting point is 00:05:07 Then again, I wasn't a crusher. They rolled out the welcome wagon for him. All right. Have you- Not known for drinking dairy. Not known for drinking dairy, but they liked him in Wisconsin regardless. He was a little cheesy every once in a while. Brian, you've known me, both in our personal relationship and our online fling that we've had here now for years.
Starting point is 00:05:33 You may be able to answer this question off top of your head. It may stump you just because it's not something we've talked about in quite a while. But what you know me, the fast food king, I've lived my life on the road, hungry and cold, and I would eat fast food just to the point where I should not be in anywhere near the shape that I'm in right now to some people's consternation. But where are the two
Starting point is 00:06:03 nationally or kind of widely known fast food places that I've made it play that I've never liked and never will and wouldn't fucking do it no matter no how, no way? Crystal? There's number one. White Castle?
Starting point is 00:06:22 No, what? What? See, now you know, you just took a left turn at Albuquerque. White Castle is the good crystal. If you're going to eat a death burger in a coffin, if you're going to fucking eat a beef-flavored wet sponge with onions, and they're good because it's 4 o'clock in the morning. And back in my day, shit didn't used to stay open late at night, except for White Castle.
Starting point is 00:06:49 they knew when you walked in that you were there because you had no other choice. That was the marketing plan. But nevertheless, no, White Castle is okay. But as I've gotten older, not as often as it used to be. But there's another place I never eat at. It's even more widely known. One of the big names. McDonald's.
Starting point is 00:07:12 No, all right. I've stumped you. Taco Bell. Oh, Taco Bell. All those bastards. Taco Bell. Yum brands. Yum brands, isn't it?
Starting point is 00:07:21 Well, yeah, I can't keep track of whether they still own it or not anymore the way that they're, it was KFC and Pizza Hut and Taco Bell and Pepsi and they've done things. But nevertheless, the Taco Bell is not, not only not legitimate Mexican food, I believe it's not legitimate food. I think it's some kind of shit that they scrape up out of a goddamn laboratory and slap in between as much rolled up, imitation tortilla that they can find. But never have you heard what they have done? I have. This is a big story. Apparently not, if you're just blank. I was trying to make sure I didn't have diarrhea.
Starting point is 00:08:05 Yes, I've heard about what's happening. Oh, yes. Cyclosporiasis, unlike what it sounds like, it will not make your hair fall out. Cyclosporiasis gives you explosive diarrhea, it's like you have the apparently the worst stomach flu in the history of stomach flus I think explosive is the
Starting point is 00:08:32 the only step up from that is projectile diarrhea which which is rare but it lasts for weeks and or over a month where you can't eat and your platy it depends in it depotidam and de tibbutton you know and this
Starting point is 00:08:53 has been an outbreak now where there's been, I don't know how many thousand cases or thousands of people, they say, still ongoing. But while it's not the only source, the outbreak in Indiana, Kentucky,
Starting point is 00:09:09 Michigan, Ohio, and West Virginia, has been linked to Taco Bell. They're still looking for the other states unrelated to the five state outbreak. I just mentioned, but it's been a trace to a single Taco Bell supplier of their fucking lettuce.
Starting point is 00:09:34 It wasn't even the meat, alleged meat. It wasn't even the goddamn cheese, Imitage cheese. It was the goddamn, the most useless, dispensable part of the god, of any food whatsoever, the lettuce. and people are goddamn blowing it out their ass for a fucking month over it. How about them apples?
Starting point is 00:10:02 By the way, wash them too. Apparently, this comes from poop. Is poop normally on your lettuce you buy in the store? Supposed allegedly, supposedly? Is that something we should just have been assuming all along or wash your produce in general because of poop? And what kind of poop? Is this animal poop, human poop?
Starting point is 00:10:26 It has to be animal poop. What kind of question is that? Well, who the fuck? I don't know. What animal has been pooping on my goddamn green peppers on the chain of command before it got to me? I mean, is it people handling it with poop on their hands? is it could it could be you know the fucking stock guy
Starting point is 00:10:51 he's got to scratch the crack and there he comes back with Prince pooping hands so I just don't want to eat anything my mama Cornett even always said that vegetables and fruits are good for you and you should eat more of well not if people are pooping on them well again maybe think of your vegetables as things you're getting at Taco Bell
Starting point is 00:11:18 that may help also. Well, no, this is in the news. You buy the shit in the store and stay away from bagged lettuce. They said on the news. That's gross to begin with bagged lettuce. Well, but I guess that's like the ground beef. If it's got anything on the outside of it, by the time you finish grounding it, it's all in it.
Starting point is 00:11:37 That's the principle. That's why you have to cook the ground beef more than you cook a rare steak. So if you chop the lettuce up, every piece of lettuce has little particles of poop. and poop you can just, we got poof. That spray poof, P-O-O-P-H for the puppies.
Starting point is 00:11:56 Because it just makes the poop. And pee smell, it just goes poof. Should we poof the produce? You should make a book. You should write a book on how to live your best life and be in the best shape of your life as a senior citizen living on nothing but Sprite Zero
Starting point is 00:12:13 and never having fruits or vegetables. Yeah. It defies long. logic. And on the blood test I had to fucking, what, I told you like four weeks ago or whatever it was now, by blood sugar, glucose level, whatever the fuck they call it, is it's the lowest level it's been in a couple of years.
Starting point is 00:12:34 And I've been cut down on a Risi caps. But nevertheless, so this thing, yeah, the FDA and CDC said to you and me that this five state outbreak we're talking about from Taco Bell good good luck with your stock there people where's the chihuahua that's it's the chihuahua is going to goddamn go up for adoption i bet it's sicken 1644 people since may 1st with another 5100 cases under investigation and uh yeah i know michigan's got to cyclospiriasis bad they're
Starting point is 00:13:13 they're a dark blue state uh on this chart that indicates the color of the method of or the number of infections. Well, the good thing is their state is also right now covered in smoke. So at least if you have explosive diarrhea, you're not to go out into the bad air. You're not going to get out of the bathroom. Well, no, that's the equivalent. If the whole state's shit and all at the same time, Canada said, fuck, light a match.
Starting point is 00:13:40 But anyway, the median age of sick people's 44 with an age range of 5 to 88. 59% of cases are in women. Well, they eat frutier things. Fruitier things, it's lettuce. What are you talking about? Well, you know, lighter things, fruiter things. If you get a taco, you're going to get lettuce. They're not eating a bunch of goddamn meat and potatoes.
Starting point is 00:14:07 Anyway, it's whatever the fuck. The chain of Taco Bell currently unable to sell lettuce, cilantro, onion, pico de gallo. Gaio. That either. And guacamole, due to a nationwide recall, and blah, blah, blah, past outbreak's been linked some types of imported fresh produce such as raspberries, basil, snow peas, I wouldn't have, basil divito, snow peas, mesclin lettuce and cilantro. row. The initial source of the parasite, however,
Starting point is 00:14:50 unclean water. It spreads through feces. If the water source that supplies the farm was contaminated with feces, what the fuck? Farm produce could also become contaminated if a worker doesn't wash their hands after going to the bathroom and then handles the produce. So somebody's dropping a fucking prounds off at the Super Bowl, letting the fudge monkey out of his cage
Starting point is 00:15:19 and then coming on back to fucking juggle your goddamn cabbage. Explosive watery diarrhea, fever, belly cramps, nausea, vomiting. It's not transmitted from person to person. But it takes one to two weeks for it to become infectious
Starting point is 00:15:39 after a person passes it in a bowel movement. What the fuck? You do? Listen to this. You'd have to maybe go into the bathroom, not wash your hands, then started working in your garden around your lettuce, and a few days later, this parasite multiplies, infects that lettuce.
Starting point is 00:15:57 Someone ingest the unwashed infected lettuce, they get sick. It sound like I'm feeling safe. You know, I don't know that any of that's going to happen to me. Wash your fruits and vegetables, it says. And don't soak them in bleach. Who's doing that? that's one of the you don't need listen this is guidance here from the CDC
Starting point is 00:16:26 god damn it the best way to wash fruits and vegetables is simply to rinse them under running water you don't need to use other cleaning agents and you definitely shouldn't soak them in bleach it's not effective at killing the parasite any residual traces of the potent chemicals can make you sick
Starting point is 00:16:45 god damn it all my life i've been scrubbing my fucking baked potatoes before I put them in the oven with comet cleaner. I never thought about bleaching my intestines. Anyway, so avoid. Here's tips, Brian, which you like, this is how you can really avoid this shit. Once and for all, avoid consuming food or water that may be contaminated with feces. Oh, great idea. God damn it, I'd have never, it just didn't occur to me to think of such a thing.
Starting point is 00:17:19 Avoid drinking or cooking with untreated water, which it would be basically water out of a fucking pond. Wash your hands with soap and... Don't go to the reservoir, folks. Yeah. I'm really thirsty. I'm going to head out to the pond ball and get a bucket. Would you like me to boil some eggs while I'm down there?
Starting point is 00:17:47 No, that'd be treating it. You can't treat it. it. Ah, that's true. I'll just wash Jr.'s ass. Wash your hands with soap and water after using the bathroom and before, during and after food prep. Along with washing and peeling vegetables before eating them scrub produce with skin, such as melons and cucumbers, cut away damaged or bruised areas on fruits and vegetables before preparing and follow food safety handling recommendations. Well,
Starting point is 00:18:22 just stay away from Taco Bell. Explosive diarrhea is mentioned numerous times in this fucking article. And also they're cautioning against using ivermectin. What's that?
Starting point is 00:18:38 That's what the fucking maggots were trying to get everybody to take to cure COVID. It's a goddamn horse medicine, veterinary drugs or like, if you're a horse, gets worms. But even if it hypothetically cured COVID, what would it have to do with explosive diarrhea?
Starting point is 00:18:56 That's a completely different symptom of disease. Well, again, the CDC again, is particular. She cautioned against using this is, which is available. Oh, because where this CDC doctor practices in Texas, it's available over the counter. Oh, that's good. If you'd like to deworm yourself with the same fucking.
Starting point is 00:19:18 working dewormer that the thoroughbreds that run into Kentucky Derby use, ladies gentlemen. Go on down to Walgreens, get you some Ivermectin. But there's no warnings about Kratum. We're good to go with that, right? I think they're cracking down on that in some places, but I bet you it's in the Texas ain't one up. What do you think?
Starting point is 00:19:40 But anyway, so that's what's been going on over there. Stay away from Taco Bell is, I guess, is that when's the last time you ate Brian at Taco Bell? you're a person that used to be on the go grabbing these quick meals I haven't had Taco Bell in probably 17 years give or take
Starting point is 00:20:02 well then you can trace it back that that specifically that indicates that you're glad that you got away from no quiro Taco Bell no caro for Taco Bell um all right before we We got a great show.
Starting point is 00:20:21 Well, we're going to have a great time. I don't know about you people listening. You're probably just going to have to fucking hang on. But to bring some people down and vent other people's frustration, let me get this out of the way at the start. The desperate, despot Adolf Schittler gave another rambling, incoherent, babbling, dementia-ridden speech to the nation. and thankfully even some of the networks refused to cover it
Starting point is 00:20:51 because they knew it was going to be bullshit ahead of time. But he gave a speech to the nation and obviously nobody cares at this point and everything he said was a lie and that's normal also. But what wasn't normal about this was he's laying his groundwork because again, folks, for our international audience, Trump's approval rating, in the United States is now at 37%.
Starting point is 00:21:21 And I know what you're saying. What have you got to do to get in the 20s in that country? You know, hang nuns and paddle them with electric shock sticks on Broadway. But that's probably about as low as anything almost ever gets in this situation, because we've established 37% of the people, yeah, they either believe, that they want this or they actually do know what's going on and they really do want it. But nevertheless, he gave a speech and this time,
Starting point is 00:21:57 the supposed president of the United States called a nationally televised speech, not to talk about all the problems that are going on and how everybody's broke and at war and fucking pissed off. He's laying the groundwork to fuck with the midterm elections in November. because they realize now, for the Republicans have known for a while that is this guy gets more delusional and demented and more pissed off at the same time.
Starting point is 00:22:29 He's an anchor around their necks, but all the rubs, 37% of them, well, 100% of the rubs, and that's 37% are still with him. And they're trying to thread this needle where no matter what bat-shit thing he tried, to do, they try to come up with a way to justify it.
Starting point is 00:22:53 He came out and said the elections in this country are crooked, specifically mentioning the only one he ever lost. So far, unfortunately. But he's already setting the shit up because the Republicans are going to get trounced. Everybody's fed up and pissed off with this. And the Republicans are going to lose control of the House at least, and hopefully the Senate.
Starting point is 00:23:20 And who know, you know, if they can't bring Mitch back to life, there goes another one, whatever. But what he did was he lies every time his lips move, but he did the same thing he always does. He lies about a problem that doesn't exist, throws out bullshit evidence online that is not actually evidence, but because the people who are into him are not going to go online and read anything difficult. They just buy it. Oh, God, he's got proof. He wants to poison the well of the elections again to make it a problem that doesn't exist that needs his solutions that are going to make it harder for people who don't want to vote for him to vote.
Starting point is 00:24:10 Or when the people that don't want to vote for him go and vote for somebody else, when they do, he'll say that it was crooked and he'll try to overturn it. or he'll seize the ballots and break up the honest chain of command so nobody knows how the fucking recount's supposed to go. Or he's got these stuges, charlatans, and imbeciles placed around the country in various important positions. Or who's to say he's not going to send the Gestapo out? Let him take a break from.
Starting point is 00:24:51 shooting citizens and innocent people in the streets to go and make sure everybody votes the right way. It's bullshit, and people are calling bullshit on it as soon as it came out of his mouth. It's being reported on the news, which is why he's trying to buy all of those. Fox News was already in the bag. Now CBS is under control. They're compromised. Now next he wants this merger so that he can get a hold of CNN, and you won't be able to trust them for real. Not like the bullshit that the maggots have spouted because they tried to defend Fox News like Uncle Dave defends Tony Kahn and AEW.
Starting point is 00:25:39 And or he will instigate another insurrection because he'll have wound these hillbillies up that they got a crooked election to the point where they'll do the same thing again. and he doesn't care because he doesn't care about anything but himself and he's proven that if you're a criminal, it's okay as long as you're committing the crime on his behalf, he'll pardon you.
Starting point is 00:26:09 So what's the incentive for somebody not to try this bullshit again when they believe his line of dribble? And the Save America Act ain't getting passed because even the few handful of, I don't know if you can say honest but realistic Republicans are not going to fucking vote for it and none of the Democrats are. And the only thing that might save America is for the cholesterol
Starting point is 00:26:42 to hurry up and do its job. But this is going to cause more trouble and more people getting hurt and more threats and everything toward everybody because a wretched fraud that you kind of
Starting point is 00:27:02 had to be fucking half-ass stupid to begin in the first place to believe has caused all this and he's supposed to be the president of the country. They investigated all the shit
Starting point is 00:27:17 that he still keeps throwing back up. He's been kicked out of every court with every election theory and conspiracy. There's never been any evidence. He's a complete psychopath who can't get over the fact that he fucking lost and he wants to get even with everybody. And this is what we have to put up with from when there's...
Starting point is 00:27:45 Just off the top of my head, oh, golly! Donald Trump is still arguing about what happened in 2019. when we've got an unnecessary war in Iran, everything costs more due to a variety of stupid policies that he's made or implemented. He's pissed off all of our allies around the world. We're the laughing stock of citizens around the globe who think that we honest to God all believe this guy is not deranged. criminals, insurrectionist, child molesters, pardoned, either for bribes or because they were on the right side of January 6th. They're hauling them back in on different offenses every day. The Gestapo still in the streets, murdering people, got a couple this past week.
Starting point is 00:28:39 The whole family, the whole crime family, making billions of dollars off the taxpayers and the suckers with the crypto. and the fucking stock transfers. The suing or intimidating or the buying up by friendly forces of all the news outlets that I mentioned before, the Department of Justice being run by his personal attorney. He's destroyed half the White House and the FBI is guarding the reflecting pool.
Starting point is 00:29:22 So, besides the fact that he has poisoned the well of American society, for the next 50 years. We'll never be able to talk sense to 3.7 out of 10 people that still exist in this country. He's trying to make sure that all of his fucking minions don't get voted out
Starting point is 00:29:42 so that some people will start reminding him that he's about to go to fucking prison. But it's a wonderful speech. Do you like it, Brian? I'm surprised it didn't go longer. It was pretty short. I really thought he was going to do like an hour ranting about all this,
Starting point is 00:30:02 it was pretty quick, in and out. I think he realized because he was in prime time, some people were going to get hot if he fucking didn't get them back to programming so they could see their fucking, see their program. That's like the most embarrassing thing in the world to him, clearly. And, you know, you don't have to like Joe Biden,
Starting point is 00:30:25 but Joe Biden kicked his ass. It was fair and square. He kicked the shit out of him. It was a national election. The same way, Trump beat Hillary, the same way Trump beat Kamala. Kick the shit out of her. Biden beat Trump big time. And Trump, it's not even about Biden, although this is the biggest case because he thinks Biden's a weakling. Trump can't accept losing.
Starting point is 00:30:47 He can't admit that he lost. He pretends that losses are victories. And he's got enough stooges and flunkies that make it happen. They had some guy in Capitol Hill this week. And John Ossoff out of Georgia. was saying who won the 2020 election. Oh, I saw that. And the guy just kept saying Joe Biden was certified.
Starting point is 00:31:08 But who won? I'm not going to do this. You're not going to do what? You're not going to answer questions like this? So even the people that know better are afraid to say anything. But it's been still fighting the battle of WCW 15 years later. Get stinging here. Are you surprised he hasn't fucking.
Starting point is 00:31:31 Are you surprised he hasn't pardoned Vince? Well, no, because Vince ain't going to jail. What's he going to pardon if you can't pardon somebody from civil litigation, and they have put forth nothing that indicates that I'm sure. I can't imagine Vince would spend much time in jail and imagine the publicity that Schittler could get with that. He'd be popular in jail. I actually think Vince would probably get a lot of friends in jail.
Starting point is 00:32:01 well i'm sure of that i'm talking about from before that he got a pardon or a commutation or a commendation or whatever you get i don't think vince would be in in the general population very long at all before something happened and just all the unnecessary shit he didn't have to fuck with the reflecting pool just a non-issue he didn't have to tear down the White House and just they have now I don't know if you saw this whenever they have reporters from any channel in front of the White House
Starting point is 00:32:37 they all kind of have like the same position whenever they're doing a White House story because he took the arches down and he's renovating those there's just like a giant backdrop there's just like a giant Hollywood backdrop of what they will look like or what they could look like
Starting point is 00:32:52 just unnecessary I get tax payer funded things now that they've drained that fucking pool again and they've had like three or four different pool or experts or experts in this field, whatever that field is called. Pool making, I don't fucking know.
Starting point is 00:33:13 They've said it's poor application. Are they going to drop the criminal case against the U.S. Olympian that they arrested? He's up for possible 10 years for vandalization. as a government property because he reached in and took a hold of a piece of the flapping liner that was coming loose from the bottom and they they nabbed him.
Starting point is 00:33:36 Do you think now they're going to, are they going to make him go all the way through the court process to be found not guilty? And he's a guy that represented this country in the fucking Olympics for fuck's sake. I think they're going to make him spend any money he can on lawyers, although hopefully he has some volunteer lawyers. I think I saw some of his. I don't know if he's paying them or if they're.
Starting point is 00:33:57 you know, fighting Trump, who knows, but yeah, I'm sure they're going to make him fight it, and this whole thing is ridiculous. Well, anyway, you know what is not ridiculous, young man, and I'll tell you what's not ridiculous, and that is that our friend Dave Bersenski from the great state of Michigan is currently shitting its guts out right now.
Starting point is 00:34:21 Hopefully he's on one of his, he travels the world. He goes to Europe quite often. When I was a teenager, I was a euphemism for vomiting. I went to Europe. He's a wine connoisseur. He's a wine connoisseur. Well, no, he doesn't drink wine from sewers. He gets it from goddamn bottles over there, like responsible people.
Starting point is 00:34:43 But in another life, he was Supermouthed Dave Drason, and he and some of his cohorts have been doing a set of big time wrestling trading cards. And he just sent me a new set. It's pictures of. all the stars, ladies and gentlemen. Sheik and Bobo and Fred Curry and I can't remember who all was included because
Starting point is 00:35:04 they've done two or three sets, but once again all the stars of the Kobo from your childhood or depending on how old you are from your young adulthood, if you were 30 at that point time, you'd be dead by now.
Starting point is 00:35:21 But go to throwdown theater.com. Throwdowneater.com. to see these cards and all the other cool stuff they got going on over there. But Brian, did you get a set of the cards? If you didn't, I bet Dave will rectum fire that. Oh, no, I'm sure he will. And Dave, please send me the latest ones because I'm not sure what I have.
Starting point is 00:35:42 He messaged me a little while back and I forgot to get back to him. I just realized. Oh, so it's your fault. Well, see. Because he asked me, he said, which ones do you have already? And then I didn't respond to him because I couldn't figure out where I put them. And I didn't want to tell them until I had an answer. And I stopped looking for the answer because I'm over here.
Starting point is 00:36:00 So, you know, I definitely don't have the latest one. I've been looking for an answer. Well, see, that's why I see. Now I have these in my possession now, and you just, you have bupkus over there. Because you didn't, you didn't properly get, uh-oh. Well, should I be on a headset here plugged into my wall and electronic equipment? during a thunderstorm. What do you think will happen?
Starting point is 00:36:31 What is happening? You just went, uh-oh, in the middle of your sentence. Well, because I just, the thunder just goddamn hit and caused me to realize, could I possibly be electrocated sitting here? Anyway, I got an email real quick. Go ahead. I think you're safe. It's like flying with Rick Flair.
Starting point is 00:36:54 You've already been electrocuted once through, telecommunications. I don't think it'll happen again. Well, I got, they got rubber earpieces here, but real quickly, because I don't want to save these emails till next week, Muhammad from Illinois. He wrote, he thanks us both, Brian, for getting him through some rough times over the years. And and most recently he lost his dog slash. About a month ago, he was 12 and poor baby had cancer. and we just wanted to recognize Muhammad from Illinois to narrow it down for your loss and thank you for listening.
Starting point is 00:37:35 You're very sorry for your loss and sorry about the air. And, well, yes, and also Jimmy from Texas. And Jimmy ought to be sorry for a number of things his state has done. But he started listening to the show about six years ago, 2020 when his best friend, Ido introduced him to the program, but his friend was an indie wrestling promoter and also Jimmy's drummer. So indicating Jimmy's in a band. He's one of these people who just has a drummer following by,
Starting point is 00:38:11 I don't know. That's a great idea. I got to try that. But anyway, but his friend passed and we fulfilled Jimmy's request to honor him on the show. but since he started listening to the show, Jimmy has lost his best friend, his sister, his cat, cat pants,
Starting point is 00:38:33 and now his grandmother just passed this a week or two ago. So I was started to think that this was going to be an email says, so I'm going to find you people and get even with you because you've been the worst luck of my life, but he actually said that our newest show then boosted his mood after these things had happened. And so he doesn't want to kill us, Brian. So untighten your sphincter because mine was all puckered up.
Starting point is 00:39:06 And he says, but there's a positive side of this thing because he says, my wife says she hears Jim's voice so often from the other room. It's almost like he's a part of the family. So just thanks, I guess. anyway um thank you jimmy he's he's from beaum and he wanted me to do i have any stories about beaumont and actually no because we have talked to that i don't know what it was but even when midsouth wrestling was doing its hottest business and houston was doing those big crowds and
Starting point is 00:39:48 you know, not eight, nine thousand people, whatever, every other Friday night. Beaumont, Texas didn't draw shit in those days. I don't know that it was ever a money wrestling town. And that's the other town that Paul Bosch and Peter Burkholz would run out of the Houston office was bom by 70 miles away, though. There were plenty of places in the country with not nearly the population and would, with strong territories. It ran, you know,
Starting point is 00:40:21 town 70 miles apart. But Beaumont, we used to just hate going. It was a long trip for one of the lowest, probably the lowest regular town payoff, maybe along with Greenwood, Mississippi that we would
Starting point is 00:40:37 encounter in the course of our week. What do you got to say about Beaumont, Brian? I got a lot of Beaumont programs from the 60s. It was a very active town for a very long time. They, they, wrestling goes back to the dawn of wrestling there, but, I mean, Milo of croton. Well, you know what I'm saying. And the Greeks never drew in Texas.
Starting point is 00:41:05 It was the goddamn Italians. But nevertheless, no, it, in Beaumont in those days, they had active wrestling. But if, you know, if you were drawn 1,500 people in, it probably, what was the building they were running. Do you remember offhand? You might not have your programs in front of it. I can find that during a break. I don't know offhand. Well, but just for the, for the sake of it, you know, they were still next to Houston, which Houston, even in those days, was a major wrestling town. But if they were drawing a thousand people in those days or 1,500 people, that would be a successful promotion for that close to Houston and et cetera. But we couldn't get,
Starting point is 00:41:46 you know, we couldn't get to fucking 1500 when every other town in the territory you're beating them off with a stick. It's probably why they were always pissed off at us because if you're going to be beaten off and lotion would work better than a stick, but that's what we were using. Anyhow.
Starting point is 00:42:06 And also I got another email here somewhere. Where did go? Fairly, I don't. All right. Well, we did that. It's time before we move on, though, Brian. We have a loss to report in the wrestling community. Superfly C.B. Offi has passed away at, I think he was in his mid-60s.
Starting point is 00:42:33 And that disturbs me as a person who's in his mid-60s. I didn't see any particular cause of death, but I mean, he's one of those guys that is kind of at this point. is an answer to a trivia question. And people who remember him, he made a big impact, but over a short period of time by being in the right place at the right time, having the right look. And then maybe that may have worked against him, you know, in some ways also. But I never met him either during the time he was in the business or after.
Starting point is 00:43:15 And so I'm, I again remember the angle with the, you know, the replacement for Jimmy Snooka and his claim to fame was he was the guy that for all you young rock viewers out there that Liam Ivia and Lars Anderson were pushing as their top local homegrown baby face when they did the stadium show. And he went an hour with flare in front of the report. It's varied, but a bigger crowd than they've ever drawn in Hawaii for wrestling before or since, at least that. And otherwise, I don't know that much about him.
Starting point is 00:44:01 It's interesting, too, because wrestling gets clicks. So the New York Post covers just about any wrestler death, even if it's someone who, by and large, wasn't a significant star. because this is on the New York Post website, the headline, wrestler known for Rick Flair feud, dead at 77. Maybe known for Rick Flair, Matt. 77, holy mackerel, but okay, that, the stadium show was 1985, that's 41 years ago, he was 36 years old then. Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:44:40 So he wasn't a young guy, and, you know, To me, one of the most amazing clips, I love it, I've examined it, because I'm fascinated by it. Madison Square Garden, early 86. Superfly Jimby Snooka had been fired in what, July, I think. He was there for WrestleMania, gone pretty quickly after, had a major meltdown in the Middle East on a tour, caused a lot of problems, and then the Argentino family sued. That also happened in 85. I don't know people put the two and two together, but he's gone and he was super over,
Starting point is 00:45:16 as fucked up as he was. So early 86, Madison Square Garden, the home of so many great superfly snooka moments. Everyone remembers him in Morocco in the cage. A bigger one was him missing the splash on Backland. Yeah. That was always the bigger match and the bigger thing.
Starting point is 00:45:38 But music hits. And back then, not everyone had music, so still one of those things where, like, not even a pop-ia, just the, ooh, ooh, who's coming? And you listen for a second, and you realize it's the theme from shaft. So let's stop for a second,
Starting point is 00:45:56 because obviously Superfly was another rival, I don't know if you would say a rival movie, but it was another black exploitation film. The first two, and I lived through this kids in real, time, so I can tell you, they may have not have been the first chronologically or
Starting point is 00:46:17 released or from a minor studio or whatever, but the first two major films that launched the black exploitation era of film in the early 70s were Shaft and Superfly. And it was kind of like a
Starting point is 00:46:33 Marvel in D.C. Shaft was obviously Richard Roundtree with music by Isaac Hayes, the private investment that's the sex machine with all the chicks and Superfly starred Ron O'Neill and had the fucking incredible soundtrack by Curtis Mayfield and he was the fucking drug guy so it was the
Starting point is 00:46:57 yin and yang and the opposites but those were the the two movies Shaft and Superfly right and the music hits and I don't even know people put two and together yet that, oh, this is the theme from Shaft, which came out, whatever, 13 years earlier or whatever it was. Yeah, because, yeah, this is, yes, easily 13 years. But the music hits. And for TV, the arena doesn't see this yet.
Starting point is 00:47:23 There were no, you know, monitors yet back in those days. In the back, in the hallway at Madison Square Garden, that famous hallway, there's CV-Offi. And he's got the traditional kind of Jimmy Snooka garb, the skirt, or I don't know if they call a dress or whatever. You know what... No, they don't call it a dress. They're on the islands. It's the ceremonial, you know,
Starting point is 00:47:47 imagine of the fucking luau in Hawaii and the grass, skirts and things and the bangles and bibles and the shells and... Yeah. Well, he also has like giant clubs of flame and it's like, it just has fire. I mean, it's a whole big
Starting point is 00:48:05 thing. They're really going all out. I know when it ever came to the ring with fire at the garden? Come on. The fire better not get too close to that grass skirt or we're going to have bigger problems. So the music's playing, I'm not going to try to do it. You know the music. It's very funky. And people are kind of ooing.
Starting point is 00:48:22 And then Howard Finkel announces coming down the aisle from the Fiji Islands. And now everyone's like, oh, oh, they realize it. Superfly and the place explodes so that they don't hear what comes next. which is CV Offi, and he hits the ring. And if you're in the upper decks, it probably looked a little bit like Snooka. Yes. In that building, you could get away with it for the people
Starting point is 00:48:51 in the last fucking part of the upper bowl. But for everyone else, it looked like a miniature Jimmy Snooka, like bootleg with fire. And again, not the theme from Superflot. That's the part that gets me. Why did they say we need a theme song? Okay, Superfly won't work.
Starting point is 00:49:11 Why don't we go to another black exploitation film? Like, Stax Records has been out of business for years at this point. Why did they go to that? And he comes out there and it's one of the great, if you want to see how a boo builds match. As soon as the music stops, it's just a steady, and it just grows. And people are just like,
Starting point is 00:49:35 what the fuck is this? Yes, because when they start expressing their discontent, it happens gradually. I mean, there's an instant boo, right? But all bullshit. But then they start commiserated amongst themselves and working themselves up. Well, they're trying to make us think this is fucking Jimmy Snooka. Goddardust.
Starting point is 00:49:55 And it really starts ample time. It wasn't like they did this in L.A. I mean, nothing against L.A., but the garden was like where Jimmy Snooka had his biggest moments. How are they going to try to pull this off a new superfly? that's not like having the Tongue Kid that's a replacement and they got away with it with Corporal Kirshner
Starting point is 00:50:12 because he got over people didn't say like he's not Sergeant Slaughter no it actually somehow worked but CVi Offi was an epic but the thing is he wasn't a sergeant he was a corporal and he looked nothing like Sargent he didn't try to do the he wear his clothing and do the whole fucking thing and it wasn't like
Starting point is 00:50:30 ladies gentlemen here he is George Sinatra but nevertheless Last, we're the poor guy, he's dead and we're talking about how he was the shits. He wasn't the shits. It was a shitty thing that he was put in because nobody could follow Jimmy Stuka. And he had been the hottest guy in the business. The guy from, as I remember, was one of the talented islanders that, you know, looked good and took to working in the ring. and obviously he went 60 with Flair
Starting point is 00:51:09 and they used him extensively there but yeah that for American audiences that's probably going to be the way he's remembered as the short-lived Superfly Snooka B it's not his fault
Starting point is 00:51:26 he did nothing wrong I mean if they had brought him in his CV-Affi just an islander it would have been different you know again he was there they quickly dropped the superfly he didn't recover didn't really get a big push but briefly maybe
Starting point is 00:51:42 once he was the high chief and then that didn't work either but it wasn't hit he didn't nothing wrong it's just but have you noticed they kept giving him somebody else's gimmick and Vince was like oh try to see me I v well
Starting point is 00:51:58 dress him up like high chief Peter Maivia or maybe one of the islanders or make him a super fly that therein is part of the problem is he was always you know a tribute act do you hear the rumbling of that thunder i heard that i thought you were just playing the drums on your desk like you do one we're having no no i i don't have the reverb uh setting for thunder but anyway but we're sorry to hear he's gone is what we are yes we are sounds like i'm about to fucking follow him um
Starting point is 00:52:38 What are you? It's getting loud out there. You, ha ha! Anyway, we should start talking about, Brian, you and I. The final episode, the finale, if you will, of the three-part series episode of Dark Side of the Ring on Jeff Jarrett and the Battle for TNA.
Starting point is 00:53:04 And, Brian, before I go any further, I want to say if you hear, in addition to the thunder that we've been experiencing, the torrential rain that came just a second ago and maybe audible, I apologize, we're in a monsoon here, but we will press on. The dark side of the ring, the third part, the final of the trilogy of episodes,
Starting point is 00:53:26 but I want to go back to something that was aired late in show number two or hour number two that I don't think that we got distracted and went to someplace else before really touching on, but wasn't it awful convenient? Wouldn't it so co-wink-a-dinkle that somebody with a disguised voice went on Bubba the Love Sponge
Starting point is 00:53:50 at the time Hulk Hogan's best friend's radio show to reveal to the public that Jeff, Jarrett and Karen, formerly Angle, had become a couple. Just two months before, as Eric Bischoff has said in other programs, when he was talking about Hulk Hogan's passing a few months ago, yeah, I got Hoke that T&A gig because he needed the money. That was basically the gist of what Bischoff had said.
Starting point is 00:54:26 Now, all these things happened with Ho, and Bubba the Love Sponge for a brief period of time, as you'll recall, was an announcer, a backstage interviewer on the T&A program under Hogan and Bischoff and then the awesome Kong slapped shit out of him on one of those. Yeah, that should have been caught. The point being, all of these people in Hoke Hogan's periphery
Starting point is 00:54:51 started with this announcement on Hoke's Best Friends radio show and then suddenly, conveniently, two months later, Jeff Jarrett's been sent home by Dixie Carter and she's the bell of the ball, you know, sporting Hulk Hogan, her newest signee. And it's just funny how that turned out, wasn't it, Brian, is the point I make. So let's really cut to the chase. What do you think? You think it was Bischoff with a voice disguiser?
Starting point is 00:55:18 Well, I don't know if it was Bischoff actually making the call, but it just seems odd that somebody would know how to get to Dixie or get under Dixie Skid or, get under Dixie Skid, make some public thing that Dixie could use as an excuse and whatever. It just, it was a nice little arrangement there, the way that happened amongst that circle of friends. You know, it's interesting, too, another thing they didn't really go into, and I don't know how you would, but we've heard from several listeners who are PR professionals slash executives.
Starting point is 00:56:02 Not knowing too much about Dixie Carter's operation, but what kind of PR expert is she? Did T&A ever get great PR? Was T&A ever known for getting good PR ever? Or did she seemingly chase
Starting point is 00:56:17 bad PR? I mean, it was incredible. You know, I've never even... Get the fuck out of here. I've never even thought, with all the other things that have transpired and gone on, I've never even thought to ask who were her outstanding clients before T&A came along that she had done these incredible jobs of public relations with and made household words. Holy Christ, that might be a show in itself. And that's the thing on this show, we said last week, how are they going to get through the rest of this?
Starting point is 00:56:52 Because it was still quite a sordid saga left to go. but they couldn't get in all the sorted sagas Billy Corgan didn't even come up and to be honest since it was the Jeff and TNA story long about the 2017 period or whatever
Starting point is 00:57:14 when it ended that's when that story ended but my one letdown here in this episode and I mean you can beat it up here in a second like a pinata but my letdown was that they weren't able to go into enough detail. They wouldn't have, and Dixie's rise, got a lot more time than Dixie's fall. It just kind of suddenly came out. We'll go back and start at the start here in a second,
Starting point is 00:57:39 but that was the thing that I thought was shortchanged was, they just kind of announced, well, in a few months after that or whatever, Dixie was out and they show the headline, and sold Anthem Entertainment. She had sold everything but her fucking second child. Actually, I don't know if she has two children, but she'd sold pieces of that thing, borrowed money, last-minute TV tapings,
Starting point is 00:58:08 because there came a time where her parents cut her off. Bob and Janice said, no, run on what you're taking in. And as you'll recall, Brian, that may have been an episode in itself, just that whole thing where they were literally finding the money to do TV tapings at the last minute and they had gotten money from Anthem and had gotten money from Corgan and all this other, blah, blah. Billy Corgan actually thought he bought it.
Starting point is 00:58:37 Yes. I mean, he thought it was his. And it seemed like it was for a moment there. Turned out he bought it from Ronnie Gossett. Couldn't get rid of Dixie. Dixie. That was Ronnie Gossett with plastic surgery at a boob job. Dixie Carter. She's selling territories and then just keeping them. But anyway, that was what I thought deserved more to the downfall of Dixie going basically broke when forced to, after all the decisions she had made, fly with her own wings. Your thoughts?
Starting point is 00:59:10 Yeah, I mean, overall, I thought this whole thing was pretty disappointing if you wanted anything about TNA. This really is just a three-part Jeff Jarrett endorsed. piece. But what is untruthful? What was untruthful? That it was all Jeff's fault. That Jeff was the one who went crazy over fucking Vince Russo and insisted on him being there and that ended up being a problem. See, you keep going back to my weak spot where I can't
Starting point is 00:59:36 argue with you, you son of a bitch. You know, he's the one. And, you know, was it as simple as Vince Russo was the only booker who booked Jeff Jarrett the way Jeff thought he should be booked or was it just simply he really believed that Vince Russo was a revolution fantastic wrestling TV writer.
Starting point is 00:59:54 Those are the two options. Or maybe he was just the only unemployed guy that would take the fucking job. Why was the job necessary? Again, the idea of writing the shows, that was a relatively new thing still. It wasn't like it was established as it is now. With Jerry Jarrett and Dutch Mantell,
Starting point is 01:00:13 I think you could have just done quite well. But also, I think... Is that any other additions? You know, but that brings up something we've actually heard from a lot of people. I've seen feedback that the show is too, I don't know if nice is the right word, but it doesn't do anything to upset Vince Rousseau.
Starting point is 01:00:33 And they didn't bring up, you know, again, they brought up Hogan kicking Dixie off his leg. They didn't bring up Spike TV kicking Dixie off the channel. And I think that's a big part of the story. Dixie relying on Rousseau. the Dixie Russo relationship has never fleshed out in this thing well but I think a lot of people also
Starting point is 01:00:55 I think they because Rousseau claims well it wasn't because of me it was more because Dixie lied rather than it was that Rousseau was around and she had kept it from
Starting point is 01:01:11 I think here's this wrestling company run by this dingbat in Nashville that we've put money into and suffered through a lot of different shit and they've false started this and going back on that. And now she lies to us just about who she's got right in this thing. You know, maybe it's just time we don't need this headache.
Starting point is 01:01:38 So it wasn't, I don't even know if it was the concept of Rousseau's shittiness because he'd been shitty for so long, but it was the fact that she had to lie to him about it. And I think here part three was almost like the last season of Game of Thrones. They rushed through so much shit. There was a lot more shit. And, you know, if you can't do it right, do it a different way. Cut down on the reenactments and just try to get to more of the story. But, you know, if you cover one end of it, you kind of have to cover everything else happening.
Starting point is 01:02:08 And it was never presented that way. But Jeff, no mention a global force gold when he was doing his bullshit Santo Gold Act, trying to sell wrestling fans on bullshit gold or whatever the fuck that was they also they also didn't cover the what was it the fucking it was a crossover wrestling and nascar thing speed or something like that i don't even know what that is what are you talking about no remember after ring kaking see that's the thing i'm like fuck you to everybody god damn who do you know that started all these different television ventures and got all these tv shows on everywhere at least Jeff kept moving.
Starting point is 01:02:49 He's gotten more TV shows with goofy names launched than anyone was in Ringka King, I'm sure, has some meaning over in India, but also there was a, it was on, it was a goddamn racing, appealing wrestling programs. It was on one of the channels that has the, the car racing.
Starting point is 01:03:09 It's not my world, so I don't know. I don't remember that at all. Wow. Yes, it was during the, some period of the mid-2010s TNA. But where were we going with that? Basically, there was a lot more shit to go and with the whole spike thing, but...
Starting point is 01:03:30 Because... I'm sorry, but with Dixie, like, they do everything to tell you how she gets in. No one who really presents her in a positive light is interviewed, but everyone there presents her in a light and nothing's ever kind of rectified. never explained. If her rise is such a part of the story, you have to explain the downfall. You can't rush right through it. And her being dragged out of there kicking and screaming, although she still owns a little piece, I think. Well, no, that's the thing. She was dragged out of the building kicking and screaming by Hogan. And then later on, she was dragged out
Starting point is 01:04:06 of the actual company kicking and screaming because Jim Ross had told me the same thing years ago that Bob Carter wanted Dixie to be around. It would kind of, like it had hurt her feelings, you know, she'd give her a title or whatever. When Jeff Jarrett had Toby Keith, as he said in this episode, ready to buy the thing, or at least it put capital in the thing, or however the deal was going to be done, the thing that screwed that up was no.
Starting point is 01:04:38 Dixie had to stay as a figurehead president or, something or other. It was always until finally, when they had said, run on what you're taken in and they couldn't, that's how they finally got her out. She had no choice because it was just going to go under. But that's what especially made the talent meeting with Dixie
Starting point is 01:05:06 when they started the program off. And Awesome Kong again, she's fucking hilarious. year the let them eat cake. Oh, fuck. That's why I wish they would have covered her and Bubba. She's one of the highlights of the TNA three episode series. Give her another story.
Starting point is 01:05:24 Whatever Bubba had said about some famine-ridden people in Haiti. Yeah. And Bubba had said something. She came up backstage and just slapped a shit out of him. Anyhow, Dixie dressed everybody down. If you're not with me, that here's the door and don't let it hit you. they're going to be done my way and everybody's going to listen to me, which has been done many times in many ways.
Starting point is 01:05:50 Mary wrestling everywhere at various points in time, but it's never been put on television with all of the, not only the baby faces and heels, but just everybody that works for the company in random order from referees to the main event guys sitting there in their casual it's hot as fucking Orlando clothes being talked to by the goddamn
Starting point is 01:06:20 ghost of Anguncle like that they're just flunkies and being told what to do by this, you know, this brilliant business genius that she lost the locker room there when she put it on television made them all look like fucking idiots.
Starting point is 01:06:41 Someone should have just stood up and said, you know what? Fuck you. Exactly. And you know what? And I'm willing to be corrected. I don't know if they told the talent that was going to be on TV.
Starting point is 01:06:55 I heard that they hadn't. I heard that they knew it was going to be filmed, but they didn't know it was going to be on TV. No. Well, yeah, because you wouldn't think of something like, so I'm not sure that maybe one or two people in the room might have done that if they knew that, oh, fuck.
Starting point is 01:07:08 But nevertheless. So while that's going on and everybody thinks, oh, this fucking douchebag, meanwhile, Hokogen and Eric Bischoff are expected to work with Vince Rousseau. And Brian, let me ask you a question. Why does Vince Rousseau put a period after every word? Hmm?
Starting point is 01:07:35 Yeah, someone tweeted out, I think I saw on Twitter. You know he's full of shit when he's, He starts enunciating every letter in the word. Bro. The bro thing is a work. When he's calm and not yelling, he doesn't say bro. But he had like three bros in like a two-second span at one point here. Well, it's a high bro meter level thing.
Starting point is 01:08:02 Nevertheless, so if Bischoff is after all the WCW Heat and Rousseau ensued, Hulk and a Hulk and said, blah, blah, blah. And as Bishop said, Hulk didn't want to be around Russo because Vince Russo is a fraud. We've established that. So some things, even wide-ranging personalities agree on. So Bishop and Hulk start the revamp, and it's a complete roster overhaul,
Starting point is 01:08:31 the ex-WWE guys, the Hulk's friends. They dumped six-sided ring and pissed off many of the fans that existed. But Brian, here's another thing. It wasn't like this is hindsight, you know, being a revelation in real time when this was going on. We and I weren't doing this program yet. But pretty much everybody, I know I was thinking this,
Starting point is 01:08:59 if I didn't have a venue to say it, but other people were saying it or writing it, they knew it's going to be a 15-year-old WWF rip-on. with hulks over the hill gang and you know maybe potentially booked by Vince Rousseau's 10 year old WWF ripoff mind
Starting point is 01:09:22 that's what everybody was saying at the stand end to go head to head live on Mondays universally everybody said this is going to fucking be bloody and awful didn't they? Was there a debate about any of these things? I wouldn't say there was any debate about any of these things. You knew it was going to be Hogan's Florida crew.
Starting point is 01:09:47 You knew it was going to be him and Bischoff making a lot of decisions. And TNA at that point was not WCW in 1995 when they launched Nitro. Right. Not even close. Even at WCW's worst points, they still had pay-per-view numbers. I'm talking about before Nitro, like, you know, in the early to mid-90s, when House shows died completely, there was still an audience willing to buy the pay-per-views. T&A never had that.
Starting point is 01:10:16 So, no, I don't think you're outrageous. Again, I think it's outrageous that anyone thought Vince Rousseau was going to work well with these guys, or that they would work well with him based on the history and the past and all this. And did Dixie would actually say, okay, so as Rousseau told a story, well, I shook hands with they would work together, whatever, like Dixie would buy that. I get the only one that was ever honest to anybody about him was me, I guess, but that she would think that that would be able to happen,
Starting point is 01:10:52 even if they said they had agreed to do it. And as you mentioned, WCW and WWE were comparable rosters with comparable numbers of stars to their audience, comparable platforms, comparable ten years in business where each had had time to build up a long-term fan base. With TNA, which was barely running live events at that point at all, went on the road, the extra expenses, they couldn't fill buildings.
Starting point is 01:11:32 They're broadcasting live, which again, I had been asked to depart, what, three months or before the Hogan era and when they went live or whenever they went on the road as quickly thereafter, if not by then. And I guarantee you that we would have been hard pressed to do a lot of those TVs live in that impact zone that we were doing when I was there in that truck
Starting point is 01:12:05 without shit being severely fucked up. The pay-per-views were a little bit easier because they didn't have the constant fucking pre-tapes and pitches to tapes and extra bullshit that Rousseau would put in. So
Starting point is 01:12:21 they just weren't ready to compete with an established giant product with tons more budget. At least Tony, con may do shitty shows that aren't timed well and fall in holes, but he's got to budget to cover a lot of that up.
Starting point is 01:12:44 Anyway, point is they had, here's another thing I'll say, we'll move on with the show. They had broken through to some kind of black ink in early 2009 for the first time there, between the international deals that they had and even the little merchandise things, video game or whatever fuck it was, had added up and the pittance they were getting for rights to compare to what today's fees are.
Starting point is 01:13:14 But Dutch, again, they were, you couldn't get pay-per-view numbers, you couldn't get accurate financial numbers, because Dixie's not going to fucking tell anybody. It's embarrassing. But Dutch Mantell was at creative meetings all the time, and when people would come in or be on a phone to talk to Dutch, or talk to Jeff, Dutch would hear things, and he could kind of meld into the furniture sometimes, so you forgot Dutch was in the room and you just thought, whatever. But Dutch had told me in the car one time on the way to one of the tapings.
Starting point is 01:13:50 Well, I heard we're making money for the first time. Maybe not too much, but we're making money. And this was kind of like spring of 2009. and as they even said here on the program as soon as Hogan and Bischoff started that business never again ever so it takes a special core crew of individuals to kill two national TV promotions
Starting point is 01:14:22 in the span of fucking 10 years but they did it well to be fair I think they could have done it a lot quicker in WCW of Dixie had been there too That's true. They would have had a lot more help or less resistance or whatever. Then they did an angle based on Jeff Jarrett and Karen and Kurt's real life previous situation. Well, an angle based on it, it wasn't real life. But you heard Vince Rousseau's quote, bro, we need this story. oh god that's what he would go to when trying to think about how to get business up or or run a successful wrestling promotion we need to have somebody fucking around with the other guy's wife that's where his mind is at but as jeff said i'll ask two questions brian as jeff said how can this be a horrible fucking thing that i did an unprofessional act that i was sent home and striped
Starting point is 01:15:32 to power for in like September when it's on TV and fictionalized for making us sound even worse in goddamn June. What the fuck was that? And secondly, the question I asked, with Rousseau, he always says, I'm writing a television show, bro.
Starting point is 01:16:02 Okay, let's say that you run a business, Brian, you've got a factor. and you manufacture and you sell mattresses and sheets, two things that go together pretty naturally. What about if the guy running your sheet division says, fuck the fucking mattress division. I don't care we sell any, but I'm just worried about the sheets. Would you get, still your, everything is your company,
Starting point is 01:16:28 the mattresses and the sheets. Would you get a new fucking sheet guy is my question? Yes, I would. I need someone who cares about the entirety of the, the business, not someone who says fuck the other divisions. And anyway, so at that point, I will just say that they, you know, they did the angle with, which
Starting point is 01:16:51 Karen explained, then people still slander her over to this day. But she was a great heel. I enjoyed, that was the one. Yeah, see, that's the thing that they didn't say there. She actually excelled in a role that she made it sound like she was forced into. Yes, and had no wrestling experience whatsoever. And was, she was like, she was
Starting point is 01:17:14 better than Tammy because Tammy was a natural and had potential, but she was only like 19 and had to get her shit together. But Karen was pretty goddamn good right away, but she was a grown adult. Nevertheless, the two best matches I've ever seen, as I've said,
Starting point is 01:17:31 that I ever saw in T&A were Samoa Joe and Kurt Angle and Kurt angle and Jeff Jarrett. And they did wonderful stuff, but nevertheless. Then that is, they went into the victory road
Starting point is 01:17:51 thing, and I guess just because it was a sordid side street. See, that's one of the things that pisses me off. If you're not going to tell the complete story about the story you started with Dixie or anything, don't include the Jeff Hardy thing. That could be a separate episode. but why is that the only aside they go to here?
Starting point is 01:18:10 No, Johnny Devine. Well, no, because, you know, still, they do have some standards over at the program. That's where I would have liked to have seen five more minutes on Dixie's downfall instead of poor Jeff's pothole in the road. But that was a big thing at the time. And hearing these people,
Starting point is 01:18:33 because remember, we've talked about it, This was 2011, but we've talked about it for some reason in the past. But to hear these people, DeLo said he noticed that Jeff was fucked up, and apparently Bischoff got involved. And the thought they had was, well, let's let him go out to the ring to walk it off and he'll snap into it. What the fuck? I love DeLo.
Starting point is 01:19:03 I'm thinking probably. It may have been Bischoff's call in that particular point. But then Bischoff goes down and claims that he just went over and told Jeff to leave the ring. Well, what was their fucking plan then? What was he going to turn around and say to Sting? Like, did they have, because he never said we had so and so in the back ready to go and come, I'm going to change the match on the fly. I don't believe.
Starting point is 01:19:33 Yeah, and that really helps the baby face when the. authority figure comes out and orders him to the back and he just says yes sir and leaves well yes and of course jeff says he doesn't remember what fucking bischoff said to him anyway but i guarantee you the bischoff said he's going to beat you with his fucking finish i guarantee you just take his finish and drop the fall however he conveyed it but nevertheless he says told jeff leave the ring and jeff just was blank so he then he told sting to beat him with his finish because jeff didn't get it. Well, one way or another, this answered
Starting point is 01:20:09 a question that I had had, had never actually asked anybody that would have known before. Jeff Jared was in town, was at the taping earlier the day, but had gone back to the hotel because he's not figured in and involved anymore. But Russo called him,
Starting point is 01:20:25 bro, get over here now. And by the time he got there, they had let Jeff go out. And Jeff went Jared, they'd let Jeff Hardy go out. So Jeff Jared went and truck, watched the playback. It was like, you let him fucking go out, and then he said he started getting a bunch of
Starting point is 01:20:46 different stories or whatever. But it was nice of Jeff Hardy to apologize now, and it was his wake-up call. And if that helped him change his life, wonderful. But we could have used five minutes elsewhere on the program. Yeah, and he sounded really good and healthy. And also, let's not forget, he got busted again after this. remember we got busted in AEW. Oh, fuck, that's right.
Starting point is 01:21:09 I thought, well, then maybe he overslept his wake-up call and they had to call him back from the front. You know, front desk would get pissed because I was a sound sleeper in my day. If you tell him to call you back more than once, they're going to get high. Anyhow. So then Eric Bischoff said, Hulk made it clear it was his time to leave. That's a way to put it. Holy Christ.
Starting point is 01:21:38 I can't even remember. Was it basically they had no more money to pay him because he had broken them, or did he get a better fucking offer? Whichever what it was, Bischoff claimed that it was his idea for Hope to not only quit on TV with Dixie begging him to stay, but to drag Dixie by the leg like she's a dog humping his leg. And Dixie looking like a complete fool.
Starting point is 01:22:06 that uh Jesus Cr expert Dixie Carter thought that again where's the PR expertise we hear about maybe she was just it wasn't public relations
Starting point is 01:22:23 it was just she was better at having relations with the public yeah for the record I brought up last time how come that in talking about her sleeping with the wrestlers and you you know said well I you know I don't know for sure
Starting point is 01:22:35 It was never proven. No one knows. I was sure. Scott Hall was the first person I heard say it in an interview years ago where he said, that's before I found out Dixie was sleeping with the boys. Well, now, he heard it from someone. So it wasn't like you put it out there. I've heard it from other people.
Starting point is 01:22:50 Well, yes. And I wonder who Scott Hall was close to and spoke to on a regular basis. Someone who could probably get some advice from Dave Brzezinski on a fine bottle to buy. Well, there you go. have another cup of wine there and spill the wine steal that promotion so then Jeff
Starting point is 01:23:15 not any wrestling podcast that gives you the Eric Burden reference ladies and gentlemen very good I was just a washed up p.R. lady anyway so
Starting point is 01:23:33 Jeff tried to get Toby Keith to buy it. Dixie had to stay per Bob Carter. Jeff resigned from the company and started global force wrestling. And I was on some of those minor league ballpark shows at fine establishments like Bowler Green, Kentucky and Jackson, Tennessee, Knoxville. They didn't draw very well, but they were sold shows. They used footage of the one with the smallest crowd in wrestling history.
Starting point is 01:24:02 I don't know why they used that one. Yeah, I think that was one. I think it was closest to home is what it was. But again, that's Jeff knew these minor league baseball team owners and managers. And he is at one point, maybe still does, had a minority ownership interest in one of these minor league teams. So he was a promoter. He was getting guys booked on these shows that were paid shows. They didn't do well.
Starting point is 01:24:29 They didn't come back. But everybody got a nice payoff. and then of course that's when they glossed over the transition from Dixie and basically cut to however much time had passed then with Anthem being the owner they wanted to merge bring Jeff back merge global force wrestling with T&A and that happened in I believe September it was in August or September, whatever, of 2017. And my
Starting point is 01:25:09 I guess it's on the YouTube channel, my stories of my exploits down there for that one glorious week where they talked me into coming back, right? That is on the YouTube channel, isn't it? It certainly should be. If not, we will get that up. We will find the old clip. Well, we'll find it and put it up there because it was a, again, it's a fucking rib. Dutch calls me, Jeff calls me, and Jeff would always leave with, hey, I got something to run by you.
Starting point is 01:25:35 Come be the authority figure in T&A were going to do like, I think they did eight or ten weeks of TV in six days. I was supposed to fire Bruce Pritchard who was doing it. That was a whole other thing. Bruce was there for a while. And then I was supposed to be the representative
Starting point is 01:25:55 from the network and get them to the Bound for Glory pay-per-view. He said, come down to spend the week in Orlando would do six days, same place, okay. And I do that. And that was, again, it was so much more of a pleasant atmosphere because I think we were doing the show. When I came back, we talked about it
Starting point is 01:26:20 because we were doing the show then, that without Rousseau around, it was fairly pleasant, enjoyed catching up with Dutch Mantel, talked to Jeff various times, times throughout the day, several of the days. Nothing was out of the way. Go ahead. On that topic, that's what I was going to ask you, since he's so open about his issues that,
Starting point is 01:26:42 you know, thankfully he's beaten, did you sense anything being around Jeff or Global Force or here in TNA at that point in time where he was bombed or he just wasn't the usual Jeff Jarrett or anything? No, that's what I was saying is at the tapings there, everything seemed fine. otherwise and he was doing 100 million things but i get that because he used to and i've done you know when you're just starting back something and you're trying to do everything all at once and i think i've told a story before we were at a independent show somewhere in illinois and i was a baby face and jeff and karen were heels and he was a bit tipsy that night it was
Starting point is 01:27:25 the night before he was supposed to be booked for ian rotten and ian fucked him around on his money and they had a hayroob or whatever. But that was a outlaw show in Illinois in front of 500 people or whatever. But I didn't think anything of it. And the taping was fine. And I talked to Jeff before I left the last night and said, hey, I'm still running this fucking thing on television.
Starting point is 01:27:54 What are you intending to do here? I need to pass this off to somebody. Well, let me run something about you. Can you come back in two months or whatever? No, we'll do all your stuff in like three days. You just come down for three days and two months and blah, blah, okay. I've had a nice week. Everybody's been fine.
Starting point is 01:28:20 I'll come back. I get home and days later, he's gone to Mexico to Triple Mania and had the meltdown that they described on. the television here and he's come back to the office in Nashville and with all the reports on the internet and people I guess were there, whatever. Old Ed Nordholm and whoever the other guy was, they fired him again.
Starting point is 01:28:46 Lenny Asper, the guy who owns Anthem. There you go. And so again, and now that I know how bad a shape Jeff was in, and, you know, I'm still going to joke about my situation, but it was best for him he got help at that point. But I was like, what is this a fucking rib? I get talked into going to work for a company that I didn't particularly aspire to work for in 2006, TNA by Jeff
Starting point is 01:29:19 Jared, and end up, he gets sent home, but I get fired for doing nothing but working for him. 10 years later almost, I come back, just come back and everything's fine, okay, I'll come back, and he gets fired again. And then I couldn't figure out who to quit to. Remember that whole fucking... Oh, that's right.
Starting point is 01:29:41 Saga, where they announced on the internet instead of the next tapings, instead of taking place in Orlando, or going to be in Ontario, and I called Dutch Mantel as like, what the fuck is happening? And he said, well, I'll try to find out. Then they fired him again.
Starting point is 01:29:59 And then I ended up calling Bob Ryder. Because I was nice for a while because they got my first check wrong, too. And it took me a while, although I did get it, but it took me a while to get all my money. So I was not being vocal at the start of the thing. But I called Bob Ryder. And I said, do they know? Who do I quit to? Who do I give my notice to?
Starting point is 01:30:26 Who's running this thing? I'm not going to Ontario. I came to work for Jeff. He's gone. I came to hang out with Dutch. He's gone. Can you tell somebody that I'll be happy to come to Nashville and hand over the reins of authority
Starting point is 01:30:43 to somebody in a pre-tape or something? And Bob said, I'll let him know. And they might have fired him after that. I don't know. And then that fucking Nordome called me up like six weeks later. I said, hello, Ed. And this was after, you know,
Starting point is 01:31:02 I think I'd after I'd got my money worked out. And he started the conversation. He was like letting me down easy, letting me know they weren't going to use authority figures going forward. And it's like he was building up to let me go. I said, Ed, did anybody tell you I quit six weeks ago? well I just wanted to make sure you understood the reasoning behind our decision I said I don't care if you hire moms Mabley to fucking run your goddamn show on TV
Starting point is 01:31:36 I'm not coming to Canada I'm not interested anyway I wanted to let you all know if you need me to do something and they never call me back they just I just one week I was running the company on behalf of the network on TV and the next week none of us were there again. But anyway. Jeff John had this one line in this thing that I saw someone correctly say it. It was the saddest line yet completely hilarious where he's talking about his pool party. And he said, he looked down at his gut and he saw a beer belly.
Starting point is 01:32:16 And that was it. That was what really kicked him into overdrive. He was not going to have a beer belly. So he switched to vodka. Yeah. I'm sorry to laugh, but that's the funniest fucking line of the whole thing. And, I mean, they went into some details about the problems that Jeff had, and he tried a rehab, but it was an outpatient thing and didn't work,
Starting point is 01:32:44 and Karen had to talk to him, and finally, you know, he did go in for, I get it, like almost two months or whatever. And after that, they also mentioned he and Jerry started speaking again. And, you know, I'd heard that from both of them years ago, the same thing. You know, you'd say something like, well, it's good. You guys are, you know, speaking again. And you say, yeah, we just, we don't talk about wrestling. That was the agreement they had. They could speak.
Starting point is 01:33:15 They just couldn't talk about wrestling. And, you know, they put him in the hall of, Fame in WWE in 2018. Jerry was there. That was nice. And then they kind of, they tried to end on a positive note when they showed a little footage
Starting point is 01:33:35 of the baby face promo he did in AEW in the first Owen Hart tournament they did where people kind of liked it and got interested. And then they started an angle where he was going to try one more run at the title and they dropped it in three weeks. So, but they didn't mention that they dropped it in three weeks just that, you know, the people had taken to him again after the promo on Owen. But, but yeah, there was, I mean, they could, that maybe this is why they wanted to
Starting point is 01:34:03 originally do a season. Evan said he wanted to do six episodes on the whole T&A story. There was a lot of fucking drama and hoo-ha. They had enough time and space to do a good job here. And it was the Jeff Jarrett story. and they also wanted to do T&A, so they shoehorn that in and just didn't finish that story and just left it hanging and left off. Again, key things in the history of the company.
Starting point is 01:34:32 Bob Ryder, was Bob Ryder's name mentioned once? Everything was about Jeff building the company with Jerry. Bob Ryder's name was not mentioned. Am I right or wrong to say Bob Ryder's name? In terms of who built that company at the very beginning, he was there with those two. Yeah, he was in the boat, and actually he would have been the best talking head if he was still alive, bless him, that they could have gotten. Because he was there for almost everything and knew every, I mean, if he didn't mind
Starting point is 01:35:01 hurt his people's feelings and being honest, he would have been the best person they could have gotten. I don't know if you know this, but do Jeff and Rousseau talk? I thought they had a falling out, but maybe, I mean, I was years ago, who knows what happens, but nothing about their relationship was ever really revealed in this either. Well, that's the, I'm the last that I was. was made aware was that Jeff had figured out that his old buddy had attempted to and often did stab him in the back. And I don't know if they speak or if they have occasion to speak or if they
Starting point is 01:35:36 tolerate each other or if they just ignore each other. But don't you think that has to be said in some way? I mean, if the whole thing was they were friends, they worked together, he got him into TNA, destroyed his relationship with his dad. And then Russo became Dixie's best friend. right around the same time that Jeff was getting buried by someone to Dixie. I'm not even saying it to Rousseau, but it was happening at the same time. Hey, well, but Vinnie Rue had just lovely things to say about Jeff
Starting point is 01:36:02 in public here on this program at the end. He did, but again, in summation. Put him over big time. That was left in the air. There's a lot of just, I don't know, it could have been done better. I'm fascinated by the story of TNA. And there's so many twists and turns,
Starting point is 01:36:19 and you can only cover so much, but. I don't know. This was a missed opportunity, I think. And I'm sure Jeff Jarrett loves this thing. God, this was the biggest puff piece for Jeff Jarrett ever seen. Oh, come on, Papa. Well, it's a sympathetic story. Where was a lie tolling? Where was a lie told? It's not that a lie was told. It's that you leave out lots of things in this thing. They really made it seem like Jeff Jarrett was a big star. They made it seem like the booking of Jeff Jarrett wasn't a major problem. Hey, I got to be honest with that early talent roster. Jeff Jarrett was a big star.
Starting point is 01:36:53 Now, you're talking about in TNA? Relative, yes. The booking of Jeff Jared and TNA is something you hear almost universally from every TNA fan was a problem with TNA. And that was never referenced at all here. And it's enough of a talking point
Starting point is 01:37:08 that has been continuously for over 20 years of this point. That's crazy. Over 20 years at this point. It seems like people would get over it about now. They call it the reign of terror, some people. I remember people back in the day calling a total nonstop Leonard because someone
Starting point is 01:37:26 figured out his middle name was Leonard. So they thought they would call a total nonstop Leonard. It was a big story. I'm just telling you that I don't disagree with the choice of having Jeff on top in the early days of T&A. I just disagree with all of the creative. If it had been done better, people wouldn't have been pissed. And again, the Russo creative. I don't think this thing did a good job of pointing out like we talked about. You could argue tastes and who likes what. You and I both don't like his brand of wrestling writing. But if you look at the business side of it, it always hurt business.
Starting point is 01:38:04 It never grew business, helped business, cause people to want to go to their wallets and spend money. And I think that ends to be pointed out too because it was Jeff's decision. You know, Rousseau was there before Dixie. It was Jeff's decision. it was Jeff's friend. And a lot of the problems with TNA, TNA would have been further along if it wasn't embarrassing at times early on. If it wasn't almost like a weekly freak show
Starting point is 01:38:35 because at times just people would be there and gone. Remember Roddy Piper showed up to confront Rousseau about Owen Hart? And I don't even remember if there was a follow-up. Randy Savage was there for like a few weeks, wearing like a body suit, like all black because he didn't want to show off physique being smaller. Like there were always things had. Dusty Rhodes was booking, I think, at one point, wasn't he?
Starting point is 01:38:58 Yes, as a matter of fact. That was right after they fired Rousseau the first time. The first time, yeah. You know, and again... Dusty came in, I think, with Grand Visions and a champagne taste beer pocketbook, too. But there was a lot of promise. They made it seem here like the X Division was on an equal level
Starting point is 01:39:19 with the other divisions, and I think to a lot of fans it was. But, you know, I remember the excitement over Samoa Joe and AJ Styles and Christopher Daniels. Five-star three-way match. I don't really anyone disagreed with it at the time. But that was like a thing that would get you frustrated because that would be great, and the follow-up would be more of the booking for everyone. So, you know, it's a weird story because we're talking about a company that in every respect you would almost say is a complete and utter failure
Starting point is 01:39:48 and it's still here. It is not gone away. It's the craziest thing that they still survive. But there was a lot more to be said here. Hey, you know, that reminds me of that famous quote by Sal Carrenti about the wrestle reunion fiasco where he spent all that money and fucking ended up in court. Well, Jim, we're just going to fail our way to success.
Starting point is 01:40:12 every time we do something wrong, we'll learn something, we won't do it again, we'll fail our way to success. Oh, God damn it. Then again, Global Force Gold. I want the lowdown of what that was all about. Did anyone get any? Did anyone actually buy any Global Force gold? I'm not into the precious metals market these days,
Starting point is 01:40:35 so I'm not sure about what happened. But it's, I'll tell you what, Brian, it's a tough job. being a wrestling promoter starting a wrestling company you could have these hostile takeovers these crazy things go on it's it's out of the frying pan into the fire it's like being on a sizzling hot grill on a just like at a waffle house or maybe a backyard cookout or something like that have you ever been on a sizzling hot grill at a backyard cookout you're making me hungry i've never been on the grill i've appreciated and eaten and cooked on the grill well you got to be on the grill well you got to be on the to know what it feels like because have you ever tried to take, for example,
Starting point is 01:41:18 you've got to put some mushrooms or some onions on the grill and grill them to go along with your meats? Well, no, because they're going to fall through the fucking thing and you're going to have all these ashes and bricks of charcoal made out of onions and mushrooms all over the bottom of your grill. That's frustrating. When the stuff falls in, that's the most frustrating thing. Yes, it exactly is. And or if you want to put a delicate, a piece of seafood. Hey, you just put it on the grill and when you try to take a spatula
Starting point is 01:41:47 and it just falls into pieces and then your whole backyard stinks like either, you know, a goddamn salmon fishery or a monastery, one of the other. And then there's the problem if you want sides, if you want beans. You want beans for heaven's sake.
Starting point is 01:42:06 Popular at the monastery. Good for your heart, the more you eat. Well, you know the rest, but you can't put it. them on the thing so here's what they've done over in our friends at hexclad they've got the hex clad barbecue collection including and it's the main feature of the grill pan Brian you've seen this this thing is badass the searing power of stainless steel the durability of cast iron and the convenience of non-stick all in one versatile pan it's the hexclad pan but it's got holes in
Starting point is 01:42:42 and it perforated, let the heat and the smoke through on your grill, but it holds the shit in the pan so that it won't fall through the grill and all burn at the bottom. That's right. It's incredible, and it's the same thing. It's non-stick dishwasher safe, even heating. You can put it up to 900 degrees and it will scoff at you. And also in this barbecue bundle, besides that grill pan,
Starting point is 01:43:10 they got this big badass cutting board. It's a big old thick, heavy wooden cutting board. The only one you're going to need for the rest of your life, but it's got a pan that slides right in it. So when you chop up the various implements that you're using for your recipe, you just shove it right in the pan and there it goes, right off the cutting board instead of dropping everything on the floor. And the carving set, Brian, these knives sharper than a serpent.
Starting point is 01:43:40 tooth. They, I'm telling you can cut through anything. It's like the old commercial with the guy on TV cutting through the tin cans and the watermelons and chopping down a maple tree and whatever you could you could cut somebody four different ways with one of these long,
Starting point is 01:43:59 wide, deep, and repeatedly. It is for food. It is for preparing and well, if you're a cannibal, I mean, you're kind of stuck with your options. I don't even think it was hexclad. It was something else, we're supposed to stay away from cannibalism. That's one of the rules across the board. One of the rules.
Starting point is 01:44:18 Canvism is very passe. I want to make it plain right here. Hexclad is not in favor of cannibalism. Their products being used in the act of cannibalism, unless it's a pig on pig or a cow on cow type of crime. And then I guess they'd have no trouble with it. How would that even work? What does that mean?
Starting point is 01:44:39 Well, it just, you know, you know these pigs. They'll do anything. But, folks, if you're planning on spending time behind the grill this summer, don't make it harder than it needs to be or longer than it needs to be. Stop losing food through the grates. Stop fighting the cleanup. Upgrade your backyard cooking setup with Hexclad's barbecue collection for a limited time only. right now you can go to hexclad h-e-x-e-x-l-a-d-h-clad.com slash j-C-E that's the exclusive link to get 10% off your order this is high-quality stuff we've talked about loving the hex-clad pots and pans and ring-a-ding-dongs and this new grill thing boy howdy and it's it's big enough for even small children you can just set them on the side of the grill so they don't get lost during the cookout. This has nothing to do with small children. Just remember to bast them every so often.
Starting point is 01:45:39 Again, let's stay away from cannibalism and small children. These are two of the rules across the board. Well, what about if the cannibal has a young child? Folks, again, hexclad.com slash JCE 10% off and let them know that we sent you over there and they'll fix you up. and they might even give you a lump of coal or charcoal for your grill this summer. They'll put it in your stocking at Christmas. Once again, all kidding and funny games aside, these are fantastic products. If you want to make your better half happy, if you guys cook indoors or grill outdoors, whatever it may be, these are fantastic.
Starting point is 01:46:21 Can't endorse them enough, Hexclad. One more time, Jim, that promo code. I say it's hexclad.com slash, J-C-E. Hex Squad. Well, Brian, before we go any further, I guess we ought to look at the latest head-to-head collision in this wrestling war that's coming up.
Starting point is 01:46:42 They have gone, and now they're trying to kill Chicago. Apparently, what I've been handed at an update from the news desk, all out from AEW is going to be September 26th in Chicago at the former Rosemont Horizon, whatever it is, the All-State Arena. Is that what it is today? You're talking about All-Out?
Starting point is 01:47:07 All-out's going to be at the Hoffman. All-State. Oh, at the Now-Rerina. The Now Arena. The Now Arena. Okay, All-Out's going to be at the Now Arena at Hoffman Estates, Illinois, and AAA slash the W-DWE are going to be in Chicago
Starting point is 01:47:25 somewhere the same fucking day, the same time, where are they at? They are at the, I believe, former Rosemont Horizon, the Allstate Arena, Rosemont, Illinois. So we got Rosemont versus Hoffman Estates. Who's going to outdraw the other?
Starting point is 01:47:43 Why do this? And I apologize, the gardeners are going fucking ape shit right behind. Oh, here you. I got a thunderstorm, so you had to come up with gardeners. The weather was bad, I guess, or the air was bad, so they didn't come yesterday, so they're here to ruin my life today. But, um,
Starting point is 01:47:59 By the way, who's taking care of all the weeds? Me, not them. What I was going to say, Jim, yes. Is AW has done this annual show in Chicago for a while, all out. It's one of their big shows, I think. On the heels of Wembley, all in. Once you go in, you got to go out, I guess.
Starting point is 01:48:18 So all out in Chicago, WWE's fully aware of this. This is a, you could say nothing, but it's a deliberate move to, run against them in the same town. Why do this? I mean, why you make it an issue by doing this? You bring more attention to it by doing this.
Starting point is 01:48:40 Why do this? Yeah. I can understand, you know, let's put the fucking boots to this guy and make him spend some more money or make his life a little bit more miserable or whatever. But it's going to end up probably that unless they're going to do something on this AAA show that I'm not aware of,
Starting point is 01:49:05 wouldn't you think all out in Chicago will outdraw a AAA show in Chicago? Or is there pent up demand for the new revamped WWE-style AAA in Shaitown? Well, even in the classic days of Ron Skull were bringing AAA to America as IWC, Los Angeles was, the explosive market where they shut down traffic.
Starting point is 01:49:32 I think Chicago was number two, right? New York, they were in the Paramount, but I think Chicago, they did bigger business, and Chicago's a bigger Luchetown. It's the WWE machine. That was 30 years ago. In Los Angeles, could they do a AAA show in Los Angeles that drew 10,000 people these days? I really don't know. I mean, can WWE do a show in Los Angeles
Starting point is 01:50:01 that could draw 10,000 people these days? Well, and there you go, and especially at these prices. But point being, I can understand if they say, okay, we're going to, you're going to go all out, we're going to put Survivor series next to it.
Starting point is 01:50:14 But putting a, you know, a AAA or an NXT show against it just kind of looks like, ah, you're just being a dick. And if they start loading it up, it's going to be pretty obvious what this is. Again, they could have picked anywhere to run and any day to run. Their free YouTube AAA show, they're doing it head to head with AEW's pay-per-view.
Starting point is 01:50:40 And obviously, it's only to fuck with AEW. Now, to be honest, I don't think it really will. I think this only makes AEW fans run to support it more. It's going to be two different audiences. Yeah, it doesn't do anything to hurt AEW. If anything, it makes Tony the sympathetic character. If only he had a PR expert, like a jury Delafamina or a Dixie Carter, in there to really help him take advantage of this. He's a billionaire
Starting point is 01:51:07 being beat up on by bigger billionaires. By bigger billionaires. Who handled Toronto mayor Rob Ford's redemption tour? Oh my God. Remember that fucking guy? Maybe they ought to get him.
Starting point is 01:51:25 His brother is now. Isn't his brother? now the mayor of Toronto? I'd well keep it in a family, crack, hookers, and good government. But, uh, that's the Toronto way and starting fires and burning down half
Starting point is 01:51:41 North America. But nevertheless, maybe the AAA show will have El Grande Punko on it or something like that. But it does seem kind of small-minded to pick on the poor little the poor little rich boy
Starting point is 01:51:57 Tony Ritchie Rich Con being picked on by this evil corporation. Tony's got the money. He should start running free outdoor parking lot shows against WWE when they do their paper views. He can be the Terry Landell of the country. Oh, why not? Why not? Just fuck with them and enjoy it. If you're willing to burn money, have fun with it.
Starting point is 01:52:20 Well, I think Tony's had enough fun. Have you seen him lately? He looks a bit haggard. I think he's had so much fun. It's coming out his fucking eyeballs at this point. But speaking of balls of shit or whatever we were talking about, should we talk about the AEW television program this week? Because this, it is now not taking a lot of this show's gravy to go all over my plate.
Starting point is 01:52:49 I tried to just say, well, what are they going to do with MJF and Osprey, leading to the big Wembley Stadium main event match that they're now not going to have. And along the way, I keep getting sucked back into the nonsense and the clutter and the confusion and the chaos and the overbookedness of whatever it is that they're doing here. And this incomprehensible muck that they have established on this program,
Starting point is 01:53:26 it just never stops. Am I exaggerating after last week? Well, last week was a great show compared to this week. Well, I mean this week is last week. You know what I'm this last show. You know, I'm someone who typically I try to have a moment and go into AEW with a little bit of optimism. Maybe Tony will figure it out this week.
Starting point is 01:53:51 And it just gets more and more frustrating. even if I have to put up with Moxley I'm not willing to pretend that Garcia and Yuta are not fucking job guys they don't look like wrestlers it's ridiculous and that's just the beginning but there was just a lot of questionable things on here Kenny Omega I think it was last week I said he did really good as a promo
Starting point is 01:54:14 well you know let's stop at one I don't know what the hell the skit with Osprey and Kevin Knight and dark It's one day since the last workplace accident. Well, they opened with the wise old Dick the boozer. Plummer Moxley giving sage advice to the green young boy, Will Osprey, who sat mute and listened while this nonsense drivel was spouted off. And people just...
Starting point is 01:54:49 They pretend they know what Moxley's fucking says. It's just, it's just dribble. What is fucking happening? I take a little bit from the Tibetan book of the dead, and I take a little bit from the book of Mormon, and I mix them together, and you get my moxley ease, young grasshopper. Well, which one's Mormon and which one's dead?
Starting point is 01:55:13 But poor Osprey again, this fucking guy has made it look like an idiot. And when we get back to him, that was just a brief pre-tape, but the first match was for the tag team. title, Edge and Christian Cage against the aforementioned Garcia and Yuda. And it's insane. If they're going to have them do a job for Edge and Christian, that's one thing, but they're
Starting point is 01:55:38 at a top heel group and they were competitive. And this went a while. And it's trying to foist Garcia and Yuda off on anybody as top level guys of any kind is insane. And they've got the gun boys back, Austin and Colton, and they've got Jay White and Juice Robinson that had the best tag team match of modern times
Starting point is 01:56:04 a couple years ago. They're both healthy now. And we're working with these flunkies. So whatever happened, Edge and Christian won, then Claudio and Philan, and Chuck Connors hit the ring and got some rotten heat
Starting point is 01:56:27 on Edge and Christian with no action involved and then music played and here came the gunboys and juice and who's the other guy they got with him now not light switch. What's his name? There you go.
Starting point is 01:56:44 So now the fucking baby faces outnumber the heels to begin with and they make a sloppy save and getting a fight on the floor, and Findlay went to hit Christian with the shalely, and he's over-exaggerating this big drawback, and there's Jay White who snatches it, and then draws back and just kind of scares him without swinging, and the heels run off, and Jay White is laughing about it, and then Jay White and Christian argue with even,
Starting point is 01:57:22 each other until Edge made peace between the two of them because of the problems they've had in the past. What the fuck is happening here? What, this is the biggest mess I've ever seen. And this was 26 minutes into the show by the time this was over with. I don't know what else. I continue with my hatred of edging Christian matches and I continue with the thought that Yuddin Garcia completely had a place on a mainstream wrestling television show with
Starting point is 01:57:54 a national audience. And you continue with regard to the guard. in the background with a subtle hum. There you go. He turned it off and back on. Yeah, there you. Well, you got to, sometimes you got to milk these things, false finish. Why did they have a video, Brian last, of Andrade in a suit on the beach?
Starting point is 01:58:17 He was in a suit on the beach. He's got a girl with him. She wasn't in a suit, but she was on the beach. How you know. It's just so I could say, how you know. And we don't know. We don't know how we know. We don't know how you got a job.
Starting point is 01:58:35 He did a voiceover for this thing that was unintelligible. And then they go from this to Renee, Moxley Good, with him with more gargling of a promo, but he's got MJF's diamond ring somehow. He's going to use that. And I mean, it just keeps, then they can't just stop. With anything, they got to do it five times.
Starting point is 01:59:05 They go to the back. There's pockets and Kyle O'Reilly and Roderick Strong doing an interview and ricochet and a bunch of his job or heels come in and have an embarrassingly fake fight and exchange with these guys. And it's just for a throwaway backstage thing with midcard underneath people. But everything is just chaos all the time. and then they come back to Andrade's match where he comes out with two girls.
Starting point is 01:59:41 Why is he supposed to be a ladies man? His voice sounds like a running garbage disposal. He looks like a guy on the local news arrested for indecent acts at a petting zoo. And they're hiring models to come to the ring with him and have selfies with him at ringside. What is this gimmick? I don't know if you heard Chavani once again as he was coming out saying,
Starting point is 02:00:07 he's so cool. Oh, Christ. Well, at least Tony Chavani, who's, I think, a year or two older than me, is the arbitrator of things that are cool. Like Nikola Vokov, I'm so cool, I feel a chilly. And speaking of Tony Chivani, he was in the ring.
Starting point is 02:00:30 And I got to be honest with you, this is what broke me. I'm just looking at the pages. Good Lord. Tony Chavani was in the ring. It was decorated with a red carpet and pictures of Kenny. And he introduced Kenny. And I'm just wondered, as Kenny's coming to the ring,
Starting point is 02:00:57 why don't anybody do an angle where they cut that stupid looking top knot off his fucking head? He's a 40-year-old man. looks like a goddamn pizza delivery guy. So this guy's the world champion. Out he comes. But before he speaks, they play more music and out come the Buccaroos, his friends the Hartley boys, who talk about being friends with him for 20 years
Starting point is 02:01:28 and how proud they are of him. So they brought him a new belt so he didn't have to wear him JF's belt. Except for the leather, they're identical. side of away. But this is the epitome of why AEW isn't farther along
Starting point is 02:01:46 than it is now after all this time because they won't get away from this core group of friends that's worn out, washed up, broken down, blaze,
Starting point is 02:02:00 unintimidating, never been interesting, and you don't give a shit about what they have to say because they say it in such a boring manner. and Kenny again when he has any time here he proves he's a fucking real life dweeb with no personality
Starting point is 02:02:22 he drones on with promos that make no fucking point and sounds so unaggressive and then they play music and Osprey comes out and Osprey comes out happy and smiling and at this point Tony Shavani just leave the ring. His job is done. And Osprey asks the bucks to leave the ring so that he can talk to Kenny. If you think this is sounding long, you're correct. Then Osprey, after he's been punked out and just told what to do and treated like a flunky by the heel group and the goofs in
Starting point is 02:03:08 that, comes out and gives a rah-rah speech. talking about how great Kenny is. It's, I always believed in you, and you had to believe in yourself, but now the cleaner is back. You've been my hero for the past 10 years. You inspired me. And I want to take this opportunity to thank you now, Kenny,
Starting point is 02:03:36 because it's going to heat up from here because we're two alpha males fighting for a title. is can he even male much less an alpha? Hold on, I'm getting the goddamn Because is it Omega? He's not Alpha, he's Omega. Well, that's the opposite, but they're not two alpha males. Omega is the opposite of Alpha, but besides that, I got the dictionary.
Starting point is 02:04:02 What is Alpha? I'm still in anesthesia here. Hold on, Illuminous? Wait a minute. Alpha-Betize. alpaca alpha the first letter of the Greek alphabet
Starting point is 02:04:21 so all these people talking about being alpha males they're just wanting to be a letter of the alphabet what's Omega what does that say let's just do this more interesting than the wrestling program
Starting point is 02:04:39 even fucking cousin Brian thinks so we're going to talk about that in a second not you Brian but cousin Brian I can't can't go. Oh, pasty. That could be used obtuse angle. What is happening?
Starting point is 02:04:52 That could be used. Yeah, I guess so. Octillion. That's how many minutes that the fucking thing lasted. That's what I needed for my chapped ass after this thing was over with. Where is Amsk? That's a city in central Russia. All right.
Starting point is 02:05:10 This is getting out. I'm trying to find, oh man, the prince small, Omega, the 24th letter of the Greek alphabet. bet well fuck all these people are a bunch of how about f you for all of these people there's a couple of letters for you osprey says that his work is a tribute to what kenny has done and all he ever wanted to be was a fraction of what kinney was and he went on forever and i don't think i've ever heard two guys in a stadium main event act like better friends where it's a quote spot the moon dog Larry Latham, where's the heat? Then they played music and Kevin Knight came out.
Starting point is 02:05:51 And I'm going to what the fuck? He's wearing another belt. He's got one of the belts. And he wants to talk to Kenny. So Osprey did comedy about being left out like he's going to slink over to the corner. But Kenny said, no, you can stay. But Kevin Knight wants the title shot from Kenny that MJF promised him. he's there to collect the debt.
Starting point is 02:06:17 And he challenges Kenny at redemption for the title shot. And Kenny's promo then is to tell Kevin Knight how great he is at a cable access level, except that he's been dealing with Don because when he saw Kevin Knight, he knew he had it. The way you looked, the way you acted, the way you wore your hair. He put him over like he wanted to ask him out on a date, but then the problem is Kevin joined the Don Fowles family and ruined the whole thing. I kept hearing click, click, click, click, click.
Starting point is 02:06:58 And I realized it was TVs turning off the longer that Kenny talked. And Kenny explained how he smartened up and got left Don and tried to shame Kevin Knight into doing it too. And we're way past 15 minutes. This was still going. Here's a quote from Kenny. Call me crazy. But I think there's a heck of a lot of goodness in your heart.
Starting point is 02:07:30 I'll call him crazy. Fucking wet, fucking rag. And then Kenny said he wanted him to do it on your own, big boy with a Barnett voice. And Kevin Knight said, you know, you make a good point, but there's no goodness in my heart, only greatness. Oh, there's no fucking scriptwriters in any of these hearts. Only hacks.
Starting point is 02:08:01 So then Kevin Knight leveled Kenny Omega and Osprey tried to save him, but Kevin Knight bailed out on the floor, but on the ramp, Darby Allen. Jumped Kevin Knight, but Brian Cage stopped Darby. And all the callous jobbers came out, and Kenny and Will tried to fight them, the bore horseman music played
Starting point is 02:08:22 and here came Dick the boozer with his clan and when they came out everything stopped and they all stared at each other and they went to break. What in the world was this? And we should mention redemption, the
Starting point is 02:08:40 pay-per-view in Montreal, Canada was apparently supposed to be where Tony was going to have Kenny win the title. That's why he added a pay-per-view in Canada and called it redemption and then they just and I will do it on TV. So now they got
Starting point is 02:08:56 a pay-per-view with Kenny I guess going to redeem himself against Kevin fucking night. Hello. Who's a champion? So now he's a champion and he's either going to win, which he can't win, but he's going to lose, which of course he's going to lose. So the champion,
Starting point is 02:09:13 because everyone has a fucking belt, is going to lose the Kenny Omega here at this completely unnecessary pay-per-view. And MJF. him crazy. I think MJF maybe a little more hurt than we were led to believe would be kind. What you mean his feelings? Maybe that too, but I think maybe physically, that may be why, maybe one of the reasons why they did what they did. Well, we're not the only ones this time. Before we go any further on this television program, I've gone this far just to illustrate
Starting point is 02:09:48 what the heck was going on, what the flavor of it was, but Brian, now we have. Now we have. it seems like we may have a convert. I don't know if he's listening to us under the table, kind of in quiet, like you do porn, you know, in your room under the covers, or maybe he's just got a functioning brain. But cousin Brian Alvarez is, I'm afraid that he and Uncle Dave,
Starting point is 02:10:14 it's going to be like politics breaking up a family. Because he is even seeing what we've been seeing for so long that this shit doesn't make. make any sense and it goes on forever and it never stops. And they ought to be better off in AEW today than they are with all the resources they've had, but to show can't fucking focus. And they're continuing to have this, this almost, as some of the folks have been saying,
Starting point is 02:10:46 we ought to make it a weekly segment, the battling Bickersons with Uncle Dave and Cousin Brian. What are they up to this time? It's been very interesting because I think Brian Alvarez is currently saying things that we've been saying since the beginning. It's about the booking. It's about things being left on the table. It's about things not being referenced. It's about things not making sense. It's about the formatting of the show. It's about who gets how much time on the show. I don't know what it is that triggered something, but he's been ultra-critical of them. When I say ultra-critical, calling it the way he sees it
Starting point is 02:11:29 while co-hosting a show with someone who is the other way completely. Dave... It's almost like talking about Dave's delinquent child. He makes excuses. He'll blame the other person. He'll say, well, what about them? You did this. Well, what about them? What about what they did over there? So it's been an interesting thing. I think he's now hearing from a lot of fans the way we have for seven years or so, you know, you're a grifter,
Starting point is 02:11:57 or you're wrong, you're me, you hate everything. No, we're just telling the truth about something you're pretending is book well. The honest thing is this, that celebration of Kenny Omega is a great example. That segment sucks, and it doesn't even matter. Because the people who are buying those pay-per-views, I don't think the week-to-week booking matters in any way. I think they look to see what the matches, and that's what they're going to buy. And the booking could be non-existent, as it very often is,
Starting point is 02:12:25 or it could be overly complicated with way too many people involved, as it often is. And that's where we're at. That's my little speech, I apologize. Boy, you know, that's the one thing we did. Wrestling was better in the old days, but we did miss out on one factor of modern wrestling, a certain segment of the audience that will just buy anything,
Starting point is 02:12:48 no matter whether it sucks or not. we didn't really have a lot of them we had to make up for it with other people from other groups well let's go to this we have a few things here but let's go to this from wrestling observer radio Brian Albrez and Dave Meltzer
Starting point is 02:13:04 talking about dynamite now we've reviewed half of the show give or take I'd say a little more than half maybe but here's their opening thoughts about the show we that pretty much said has been mediocre so far let's hear what they think Dude, I hated that dynamite.
Starting point is 02:13:21 Maybe hated his wrong word, but like... I loved it. Oh, my God. Are you kidding me? I loved it. I should just step out. I just loved that show. Let Garrett do the show.
Starting point is 02:13:31 I thought it was one of the... I thought it was awesome. That's impossible. Why? What did they say about Hangman? Nothing. He was not mentioned on the show. He wasn't mentioned a single time on the show.
Starting point is 02:13:45 No, that was bad. I agree. We have five matches. stop it there for a second because we haven't even mentioned that. Hangman Adam Page with very little notice returned live on collision in Virginia, where he's from, cut a promo. They did the goofy thing where they had him come out with the goofy thing on the screen that he had a vasectomy. And then he came out, acknowledged that he can never challenge for the world title again, but there are other things for him to do. And he's ready for it. And I understand he also announced that he's been gardening.
Starting point is 02:14:16 It got a good reaction from their fans. Did you know anything about it watching Dynamite? No, they didn't mention it. They showed no footage. They didn't mention it. I wouldn't go to complain because I don't ever want to see him again. I think he sucks. But no, they brought a big star that's been absent back for collision with one day's
Starting point is 02:14:36 promotion that he would be on it. And it was only because he was nearby his home. And then he was a, he's living in Greensboro now. actually, which is close to Virginia, but that's, and then he, he wasn't on dynamite, they didn't mention it. Because none of it makes any sense. Let's go back to Dave and Brian. For the pay-per-view.
Starting point is 02:15:03 The main event is a match to the fans chanted no, no, no, no for. Yeah, but they did a hell of a job. I mean, I didn't, no, no, no, they didn't. I didn't, I didn't want that match, but by the time they were done, I thought that was, I thought that was Keny Omega's best mic work that he's ever done in, in the United States. I wouldn't say ever,
Starting point is 02:15:21 but I would say in the United States. I thought he was tremendous. I thought Will was tremendous. I thought Kevin Knight was tremendous. They thought they'd be the best they could. I, you know. He got beat up by Darby immediately after the fans attended, no, no, no.
Starting point is 02:15:34 I know. But the mic work was awesome. Well, we'll see what, I mean, like the big thing's, I mean, he's going to kill Darby next week. Well, hold on. That's the end of that clip right there. Yeah. The audience stormed the stage and hung him from the rafters,
Starting point is 02:15:49 but goddamn the song was great. Jesus Christ. Again, Alvarez is the voice of reason. I know he likes a lot more of that style than we do, and that's fine. We're talking about the booking. You have to be honest. You have to, because that's why Dave is in the position he's in now
Starting point is 02:16:10 where everybody laughs and makes fun of him being, Tony's uncle, Tony's illegitimate father, Tony's paid shield, Tony's whatever, because he just twists himself in knots not to recognize what's right in front of him. And again, you could disagree with everyone. Everyone could disagree with each other about what style is best or what you like. But when you're actually talking about the formatting and the show and the booking of the show, I mean, you have to be able to acknowledge the truth. we have some more audio here.
Starting point is 02:16:44 There's always someone else. You could always back yourself into the corner and go, well, not me. Look at the little bird over here. It's the bird. Let's go to this, Dave and Brian. So they run down all the matches on this show, and they all of a sudden mention that coming up next,
Starting point is 02:17:02 opening the show, it's a match with Christian and Copeland v. Wheeler Ud and Daniel Garcia for the World Tag Team titles. You know they announced this one hour before the show on on the air? No. An hour. WB. You just said, too.
Starting point is 02:17:16 Dave! It's a tag team title match, dude. We had two matches announced. Dave, hold on a second. That happens all the time. I'm not saying they shouldn't have announced it. Of course it sounds like you're defending it here. I'm not defending it.
Starting point is 02:17:31 I'm just saying. I don't care what WWE does. It's not. I don't care. They do it every single week. They do it every single week. You want to cry about it every week? Yes, I will.
Starting point is 02:17:39 It's like, yes. I'll let me stop a minute for a little. but yes i'll cry about it every week wow he blew up at him Dave he just Dave Dave's not here man yes they they could have announced it ahead time they don't okay they don't he he he you know he has a strategy that he wants to announce matches on the day of the show whether it works or not I don't know this is the this is the strategy you know and w.m has the same strategy but hold on saying they sometimes announced title matches after the show started in both companies. Can I ask you a question? Well, what? Did you know before the show
Starting point is 02:18:17 last week that that show was going to do a great number? Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. Because I did. Because of the main event and no competition. Title match, right? The main event and no competition. And the conflict match too. Yep. And you had no World Cup, right? No World Cup. Okay. Which is why so if you were in charge and you knew that that show was going to do a great number. Yes. Would you not have built up a card for the following week's dynamite? 100%. Or would you not have mentioned that Hangman Page was appearing on collision on Saturday? Well, the Page thing ended up doing the number, so I can't criticize him now.
Starting point is 02:18:56 The show did a good number, but like had they advertised him? I wish that they had advertised him for this show, perhaps. Had they advertised last week of the World Tag Team titles were going to be on the line on this show? No. They had one match announcement. last week, which was on Druday and Doyle. Doyle. That's the only match that they had announced
Starting point is 02:19:17 last week on Dynamite. Yes. Yes, they should have announced more. They should have especially because they had, you know, but, you know, I mean like the match, they did. But, but, you know, that's it. Yeah. That's it. Is Dave sucking lemons?
Starting point is 02:19:33 Should he swallow more often? What's going on with it? He sounds very squishy. And no one's justifying WWE doing it. I think in either case, for the most part, it's good to have a card announced. Well, besides that, hey, I just found out that my brother-in-law is a murderer. Well, hey, my uncle killed somebody, too. Okay, well, that doesn't...
Starting point is 02:19:59 You know, this bolsters the argument that we make when we say that Dave purposely tries to deflect criticism to Tony Conn and AEW. He purposely tries to do what he can to stop the criticism and there's a lot of fans who are loony they're called sickos for a reason who don't want to see anything wrong with AEW and everything's great. There were fans that
Starting point is 02:20:29 loved the stuff at the height of the Moxley run which was awful TV but Alvarez is calling it out for real I mean, Alvarez is saying the truth, it doesn't make any sense the way Tony does this. The only reason Tony does this is because Tony's funding it. And again, that's just, I don't know what I'm saying anyway. It's just the way it is.
Starting point is 02:20:49 He's going to do that, but it's unnecessary. It always comes back to what would things be, if things are good at making money at this point, imagine if it was booked well so that the TV was must watch so that you had to see what was going to happen so that one week led into another. In other words, something like kind of what we were looking forward to, but didn't have much faith in seeing when this thing started.
Starting point is 02:21:15 We said, well, let's see if they can do it. And they ain't been able to do it. And Tony ain't never going to get it. Because after seven fucking years of doing his same shit, he's got to be burnt on doing the bad shit. That's why it's getting worse. But he's not ever going to let anybody else do it. So it's, it is what it is.
Starting point is 02:21:36 but however and again I'm not going to blister them about the semantics between revenue and profit Tony's been asked is AEW turning a profit he said we've had the biggest revenue we've ever had so point being even if they're losing less money now wouldn't the idea be eventually to make some so you could you could take that money Brian and you could stick it a big fat wallet. And you could show it off to people and say, look how much money I made. But then again, the days of the big fat wallet, well, they're passee now, aren't they? Because of all the things we know now about pickpockets and chiropractic practices? Chiropractic practices? Well, you can't be sitting on one of those big fat wallets because it'll misalign your spine and make your spleen turn green
Starting point is 02:22:34 and your liver quiver. That's been proven now. A medical sense. science. By medical science, yes. It's all biology. See, what it is. I don't think it has anything to do with biology, no. Well, I'm telling you, you just take a big old lump of something and stick it in somebody's butt cheek for about 15 or 20 years and see if they don't walk sideways. That's why, folks, whether you're Tony Kahn and you're a billionaire or you're just a little old fella making the best that he can. in this tough and hard-scrabble world,
Starting point is 02:23:11 but you want to hold on to your money and your credit cards. You don't want to lose them, but you don't want to walk like you're digging taters at the same time. That's why our friends at Ridge have revolutionized the wallet instead of a crusty leather brick. Now it's a smooth and sleek metal titanium carbon fiber fucking means of communication across, the world because what you can do is you can put your money in it, you can put your credit cards
Starting point is 02:23:44 in it, and it's got the RFID blocking technology that keeps you safe from the digital pick pocketers. And if somebody tries to pick your pocket, all you do is hit the special button on a side of this thing. No. And instantly it calls, it calls Interpol. Because see, you're a big time international yacht broker, you might not be in America where you can just call the local county sheriff. So it calls Interpol
Starting point is 02:24:12 so they can come and take the offending pickpocket or away to a gulag somewhere off an archipelago in Russia. Okay. Once again, we are not going to make up features
Starting point is 02:24:26 that aren't there. That's one of the rules that overrides all things we're going to talk about. No cannibalism, no small children. and of course no features that are not there. Friends, you don't have to worry.
Starting point is 02:24:39 I don't know why crime was put into your mind here today. But let's talk comfort. And let's talk carrying money and identification on the go. Yes. In a small way without some obvious thing that if we want to focus on pickpockets, they can see, or let's just focus on comfort. You want to sit on and you don't need this thing sticking into your leg. Well, no, this thing is barely bigger than the credit cards themselves,
Starting point is 02:25:04 but it holds up to 12 cards plus some cash. And it's got 50 colors and styles to choose from. But the most important thing is, whenever somebody comes up and says, show me, y'all papers, when you pull this thing at, you can either pull out your driver's license or you can use it as an Oriental fighting star
Starting point is 02:25:24 to instantly, just like you're skipping a flat rock, throw it at the guy's Adams apple, and it'll lodge in his goosele pipe. No! You can run away. No. And with the Ridge Tracker card, you're always going to know exactly where this wallet is and whose corpse it's sticking in. So you'll never have to panic about losing it.
Starting point is 02:25:48 And Ridge isn't just about wallets. They create premium everyday carry essentials like power banks, key cases, suitcases, rings, portable coffins for your loved ones, all built with the same sleek and durable. design and it's wind resistant too so on the way to the fucking cemetery you can get up a heck of a head of steam no matter what you pick
Starting point is 02:26:13 Ridge has free shipping a 99 day risk free trial and a lifetime warranty. Yeah. On all of their products. That means either your lifetime or theirs one or the other. If everybody at Ridge dies you're pretty much out of luck but most of them are young and
Starting point is 02:26:31 in the prime of life. Had right now for a limited time only our listeners are going to get 10% off at ridge that's r i d g e.com ridge.com by using the promo code jcee at checkout ridge.com promo code jcee 10% off on this fine wallet and for that matter of the other things that you'll find at ridge.com that you can't afford to live without. If you can't have these things, you're just going to want to jump off a bridge. So why the fuck would you want to jump off a bridge? What's the matter with you? Just get a new wallet. You can make things better. There's no reason to take permanent solutions to temporary problems. We can make this focus on comfort and the ability to be on the go without a large, large,
Starting point is 02:27:27 lugging, the idea, you know, the dew points 49 right now. You're just dragging something around with you. It's just like it's a heaviness, a weight. It's just a big sack.
Starting point is 02:27:42 It's a, maybe it's a goiter. Well, Jim, we don't know, but maybe the listeners want to say hello to heaviness or goodbye to heaviness. Hello. 10% off at ridge.com promo code JCE.
Starting point is 02:27:55 Get the best wallet that you'll ever have. and put your money in it and don't let anybody pick your pocket. And tweet them and let them know that you love us, please. Yes, yes. Ridge! Ridge! Back to dynamite. Back to dynamite.
Starting point is 02:28:11 From the range, off the ridge. Back to dynamite. Boy, back down in the holler. Brody King and Bandildo fought our old friends Comerato and Solo. It's been so long. since we've seen Solo and Comerato has had no cooperation. They're still there. Are these guys on contract or are they on a per night?
Starting point is 02:28:41 Seven years later, he's still paying these guys and they're still in the same place on the card or worse off. So is Anthony a go-go, right? He's still with AEW. Yeah. But again, are they just getting a regular check not to fucking wrestle except every once in a while when he calls them or are they on a per night and they have
Starting point is 02:29:02 other jobs because you don't see them or hear of them anywhere else? And what kind of career is that to fucking have where you're invisible to people for long stretches? I know you're getting paid, but and for about three or four weeks there, they had Brody King ready to be a single baby face at the top of the cards like the,
Starting point is 02:29:27 the kick-ass baby-face spot. Hacksaw Duggan in Mid-South or Dick Murdoch one time in Florida or whatever the case where he's not even the top baby face but he's always, you can use him for long periods of time because he's the fucking gimmick guy there. But now he's back with this fucking jerk.
Starting point is 02:29:50 Anyway, then the next match for some title or other again, Kyle Feltcher, he's got the belt, a belt, one of the belts. He defended it against Commander. Commander was back, Brian. It looked like Kyle was wrestling Max Minnie. What in the... And again, it went however long,
Starting point is 02:30:15 and Kyle had to figure out ways to let this diminutive little dwarf do his shit. And then finally, this is the point I was going to make about this thing. Kyle wins, and he tries to take his... his mask off, but out comes the newly reformed Take a Shit, who's left the Don Fallis family and has recognized the error of his ways and takes the ring to fight Kyle.
Starting point is 02:30:46 And did you pay any close attention to this, re-zoned out by this point? Do you remember what I'm talking about? I watched. This was the fakesest fight I've ever seen. I dare, I double dog dare anybody out there whether you like AEW,
Starting point is 02:31:05 WWWE, wrestling in general, whether you're good, bad, or indifferent, animal, vegetable, or mineral, anybody that likes anybody. Kyle's immediate family, look at the video of this fight that they started having
Starting point is 02:31:24 with Take and Kyle, it was, was not just embarrassing, but ridiculous. They weren't even touching. They weren't even trying. It looked like two teenage girls swinging at each other while they were trying not to hit each other. I couldn't, I had to back it up and watch it again
Starting point is 02:31:46 that they thought that this was acceptable to do in front of people on television. I don't know what agent or what promoter, what booker, who wouldn't have screamed at OVW with the guys from the amateur class. I would have cussed them for doing this in front of fucking fans. It was the most unprofessional. So then after they do that, somehow, Take hit one of the leg slap elbow strikes and knocked Kyle out and picked up Kyle's belt, but then Old O'Cruddy came in.
Starting point is 02:32:39 Our friend Okada and heat clothesline, take, one clothesline, and Take was dead. Meanwhile, Kenny takes kicks to the balls and belt shots to the head, kicks out at one, and Darby Allen is using improvised explosive devices. But this fucking lazy bastard hits one clothesline and the guy's dead. And then Okada and Kyle both picked the same belt up and from either end and get mad at each other. But then Brody and Bandito hit and cleared the ring before that they could get into a fight over whose belt that.
Starting point is 02:33:19 Again, Brian, what the flying fuck. By the way, the match, four and three-quarters stars in The Observer. Oh, good. As good as five. Yeah, I don't. I don't know. And there's every match now, there's so much going on at the end of the match,
Starting point is 02:33:39 where there's just so many people running around. Well, let's press on because we got a couple more things, including the best segment to me. Renee was back with Kenny, again in the back. And he again reiterates that Kevin Knight still has goodness in him, but Darby comes in and says Kevin Knight needs to be humbled, and he needs to have this shit beaten out of him, and if you're not going to do it, I will.
Starting point is 02:34:08 So Darby's quite a juvenile delinquent these days. And then when Darby left, Moxley comes back in and tell, you know what, some people can't pretend to be anything but who they, they are. And in other people like Moxley can pretend to be anybody else. Because it ain't fucking working with who the fuck he is. So again, Osprey is just, he's, Darby now is telling him, well, you're a fucking idiot. It won't work.
Starting point is 02:34:46 Then they did the live promo Brian with the brawling birds. Did you enjoy the brawling birds? I was surprised I got promo time live in front of the crowd. The two Brits with the tints? That's what they said. That's what they said. Don't you think? I shouldn't say anything.
Starting point is 02:35:05 Oh, go ahead. What were you going to bring up, my son? You know, if I didn't have like a giant thumb, I wouldn't say, look at my thumb. That's all I'll say. If I didn't have a club foot, I wouldn't call myself clubfoot inferno. That's what I'm trying to say. Jamie Hader, of course, and Alex Mountbatten Windsor are the brawling birds,
Starting point is 02:35:39 and they talk to Boston about drinking and fighting. And they're trying really hard, but it sounds like Rousseau writing a glow script. But with Tourette's. glow with Tourettes. They're birds that like to drink and fight because they go to the pub. And then their closing line was, okay, Boston, let's go get pissed.
Starting point is 02:36:06 If I was Boston, I'd have to sit through this show. I'm pissed already. So then I know many of the AEW fans don't get birds brawling or otherwise, but that's not really the way any birds act. except maybe the nightingale or the hummingbird
Starting point is 02:36:33 or possibly the bird is slang for a girl I know that's all it is the brawling birds they really had Renee laughing she was having a great time my little chickadee all right let's talk then about Darby Ellen
Starting point is 02:36:50 and by the way the main event on the show that started well after the overrun had begun was a six-man girls tag match with Mercedes Mone and other people against other people, which apparently they put on in the main event spot because Mercedes is from Boston. And I did see one camera shot where they had like six of the identical Mercedes signs that somebody made on their home printer and they were shooting a section of 12 people that had come to support Mercedes.
Starting point is 02:37:26 So she's got 12 up in Boston. Did you see the Jericho promo? Oh, and the Jericho. Jericho is bringing back the pain maker. He looks like goddamn, what was his fucking name on Seinfeld? The crazy guy. Crazy Joe DeVola. Joe DeVola that dressed up like the clown to stalk Jerry.
Starting point is 02:37:51 Now it's crazy Joe to Jericho. the pain maker is going to get even with who's he going to get even with that's right tomorrow who's supposed to be scared because chris jericho put makeup on his eyes and a hat on now he's a different person what the fuck oh but the main event that i want to talk about as we close this uh fucking television program review up derby allen against brian k And again, this is ridiculous. And I know that Darby is much more important to the roster than Brian Cage.
Starting point is 02:38:32 He's popular. They like him. He's got that underdog quality until somebody sees him inevitably hooked up to a goddamn machine from one of these bumps. Don't book him against Brian Cage. Look at Brian Cage now. He's got away. I know he's shorter than we think he is because he's next to all these. diminutive wrestlers, but he's got to be 5'10.
Starting point is 02:38:59 And he's got to weigh 260, 270's ripped. He doesn't have a lot of body fat, but muscle weighs more than fat. He's twice Darby's weight. He's, his arms are bigger than Darby's legs, maybe Darby's waist. And he gave him bumps that should kill anybody, a vertical suplex, superplex off the ropes onto the ramp. Fucking multiple bumps over the stairs and the floor and the big one was he pressed Darby over his head on the ramp, walked and threw him head first at the ringpost and
Starting point is 02:39:40 his head hit the ring post while he was in midair. He takes the bump, he goes down. Within 30 seconds, he got up from that that looked like it should be a hospitalization. made his comeback and beat Brian Cage with three coffin drops. Why do the things? Just because you can do them, why do them and then just kill him by getting up and going on? You realize that Darby Allen has a repertoire that you could have had two different guys
Starting point is 02:40:21 hospitalized him a different way every year for 10 years and never repeat. shit that looks like it ought to kill him. And it might have drawn money because people might believe, you know, goddamn, I think he tried to fucking kill that son of a bitch. Because why would you do that to somebody else otherwise? And then he gets up and shows that it's all fake, except the part that's really
Starting point is 02:40:45 doing damage on his body. And it didn't mean anything. And he'll just go ahead and win. I mean, was this one of the more ridiculous ones you saw, Brian. It's hard to say one of the more ridiculous Darby Allen things. I mean, we've seen a lot.
Starting point is 02:41:11 So that's the update there on dynamite. As I said, the main event was the six-man girls match. I chose not to participate. And, I mean, there's nothing else they can do after every match. Somebody continues to beat
Starting point is 02:41:32 on somebody until somebody else comes out and then maybe somebody else comes out. In every interview, somebody else comes out and they talk until somebody else comes out. And it's the most boring sameness to everything. Well, you're great, but I'm great too and we're all great.
Starting point is 02:41:51 You've been my hero, so I want to beat you. Even if any of this was good, is it good to do it in every segment, every week of every show? Well, again, that's dynamite. That's just the way it is. Bad commentary, bad formatting, bad layout. It's just not a good show.
Starting point is 02:42:14 That's just the way it is. Some things will never change. Name that artist, Brian. I don't know. Bruce Horn's being in the range. That's just the way it is. It's talking about another tragedy, though. The tragedy of the 60s civil rights struggle.
Starting point is 02:42:34 not the tragedy of the 20s terrible wrestling television. All right.
