The midnight and the rock and roll.
He's in a fight for wrestling soul using a racket and some mind control.
He's Jim Connest, the keys to the future.
You can't call the phone company.
Chris Jericho calls an audible and we'll talk about the man called Mr. Wonderful.
All that and more and a variety of shenanigans in joining me for this.
Hawaiian Brian, the podcasting line, the king of the Arcadian Vanguard podcast.
Network, Mr. co-host to you, he's the man called, among many other things, the great,
Brian Last, everybody.
Aloha, Jim, a pleasure to be here, much like yourself.
I don't know where we're going.
Got a few emails recently upset.
You don't call me Swammy's Papi anymore, but it's a pleasure to be.
It just seems to flow better.
And also, I don't want to slander poor Swami.
He'll, you know, one of these days, he'll be able to.
reach the age of majority and leave your home, Brian, and get a job, support himself, move out,
meet new puppies. Be free of your being under your thumb, and I don't want to make him have
to think back and go, oh, that oppressive father of mine, now that I'm a free pup wandering the
open fields, pissing wherever I like. No, he's an indoor.
He's always yelling, shut up, Swami, whatever he makes a little bit of noise. He likes being indoors. He
actually likes being in the house, so I think
the example won't. Well, he don't like when you yell.
I hear the way you yell at that poor. You mentally and verbally
abused that dog. Shut up, Swami, I'm recording.
Why would you accuse me as such a horrible thing?
I don't mind when you scream at your children.
Shut up, I'm recording, but don't take it out on the poor puppy.
I don't. I haven't. I won't. And of course,
this is your show. What, why am I on the defense here?
Ah, you know what? I'm happy.
wrestling sucks but I'm happy because I'm a puppy daddy too now and I'll have you know that leading
into this unprepared for conversation I just touched on the topic here we just took
the twin devils the brothers of destruction the two princes nature boy buddy cornet and
Alfred Puddinsworth cornet to the vet this morning for their their final round of puppy shots
and I'll have you know that remember when we got them
Alfie was 3.8 pounds
and Buddy was a little brother, he was three pounds even.
They are now at nine pounds for Alfie
and 8.2 pounds for Buddy.
They're mutant dogs.
They're balking up for the ring already.
They can spring and jump and leap and et cetera.
It's amazing, but they've,
nearly tripled in size in two months.
And I'm proud of my little boys.
And when they wake up the first thing in the morning and they lick you the sleep out
of each other eyes to wake up, it's like a Disney movie right there in front of your live
action.
You can't hologram that shit.
That's why I'm on a good move.
Are you going to argue with me to doubt?
Which Disney movie is exactly?
I'm not in a good move.
Which Disney movie is exactly?
exactly? Well, it's like where all the little woodland creatures are laying in the basket
and rubbing and hugging on each other. The tortured animals that want to get away.
Well, that's up at your place. Here, this is a refuge. One day they're going to get into that
archive and oh, look, they're pissing on Jim Lundas. They're pissing on Jim Lundas.
They just bit Sam Munchnik in the ass. What did the hell? Oh, God.
but anyway
I just I mentioned I'm in a good mood
because of the puppies
because otherwise
with the state of wrestling
and the world in general
Brian the world in general
has let me down
has depressed me
the institutions
the institutions used to be able
to count on or all going to hell
I mentioned on the
drive through a few days ago
my telephone line
in my house was out of order
for some reason.
I knew not why.
I had tried to get a hold of a human being
at AT&T. American telephone and telegraph.
One of the backbones of American industry,
a symbol of free enterprise.
It helped build America.
And then took over America.
But that's a different story.
But it's American telephone and telegraph, right?
They're a big fucking.
concern. They got people that don't be able to handle these things. Couldn't get a human being.
The automated thing, I'd updated the folks said that we were waiting on a call to my
auxiliary emergency cell phone, that they were going to send a technician out. They had sent a
message that your technician that you made an appointment with with our fictitious robot
fucking douchebag on the phone. It's always a woman's voice. They think they think you
won't cuss a robot woman.
I cussed that robot
woman like a New Orleans fucking
whore. Yeah, when does the recording start?
Is it when you get a live operator? Or do they record
you like, douchebag, douchebag,
operator, operator!
Well, yeah, they always preface it by saying
this phone call will be monitored
for quality assurance. Well, I assure
you, you're going to hear some fucking language
here when I keep getting sent
around in circles by this fucking thing.
It doesn't understand me spitting
out numbers in English, nevertheless.
They'd send me a message
that technician is on the way
and Brian as we were recording
I've mentioned it
as they were waiting on his technician
we didn't see
just shit
of nobody just
we didn't see shit all day
or that evening
and so the next day
I called again
and had to make an appointment
with the automated thing
for someone to call me back
and they actually did
because I had done that on Monday
and that never came
but on Wednesday, this is an update now for folks here.
This is new information.
On Wednesday, they actually called me back
for the appointment for the callback that I had made
with the automated robot douchebag.
And I found out a few things about AT&T,
about American commerce in general,
about the pride that they no longer have
and the goddamn in their reputation.
This woman called me,
but sounded like she'd been working there for a while.
I bet you she had told some people this before.
Said, I explained the issue.
I said it was working and then suddenly it wasn't.
There was no dial tone.
And I had issues of trying to get through to a human being
and that also that I'd made appointments with the automated thing
and they told me a technician coming out and never showed, blah blah, blah, blah.
Well, listen here.
Here's a fucking deal.
First of all, a technician did come.
not to my house, not to me, but to the area of my influence with the phone company,
some neighborhood box or some location where they have the neighborhood.
And I said it's a problem.
Anybody that has a landline like God intended in my area, immediate area,
she didn't say how wide that was, was going to be having a problem.
So you make an appointment with their automated thing
to report your phone services out
and they send you a message that
here was the exact message was
AT&T technician is on the way.
See you soon.
And the automated deal had said
there must be someone there 18 plus
and older and they had backed that up with another.
text message. There must be someone
18 plus and older to fucking
let the person in or whatever.
So if they sent that to anybody, you'd be
sitting there all day waiting for somebody, would you not
Brian? I think
so. I think you would be expecting a
visit from AT&T.
They didn't say a goddamn technician
is going to stroll through your
neighborhood and stop at a place or two and check
and see if he can locate what
the issue is. Good luck.
They don't say that.
So that's first thing she said.
And a second thing, so the technician determined that there was a problem somewhere in a midpoint location somewhere in the neighborhood or immediate surrounding area.
And she said they don't really update or upgrade the landlines anymore.
They don't give a shit.
They will repair what goes out piecemeal as it happens.
But they've made a decision not to even support and upkeep their infrastructure of goddamn real plug-in-the-wall landline telephones, which is what they built their fucking business on.
It's the name of their company.
They've got American telephone and telegraph.
Now, admittedly, the telegraph is not doing too well in today's environment.
That means they've just got to fall back on the telephone.
But they don't give a shit, so they're not.
not really, so this shit's just going to continue to fall apart and they'll fix it whenever the
fuck they get around to it or somebody complains. And the reason why that you can't get a human
being on the phone is because they decided a few months ago AT&T, we're not going to have any
human beings actually answer the phone, whether it's the call to their major 800 number
to even sign up for service or the
goddamn call much less to report that your service is fucked up.
They will have an automated thing and then they will have people call you back.
And she also said at one point where she works on at some point of the day in her shift,
there's one person doing callbacks for 22 states.
So I said, do you see the irony,
lady, in this that you cannot call the fucking phone company?
how's your phone doing Brian your phone fucks up more than mine does you're always oh let me call
you back as the crackle the popping I think it's just the government listening in but uh no my
phone is uh generally kind of okay I don't use it too often I try to avoid kind of okay I try
to avoid having to be on it as much as I can well apparently that's what we're all going
have to do sooner or later when this shit falls apart they don't fucking worry about it but
I know that everybody now has a cell phone
and they just can't get away with that.
Oh, my God, their cell phone,
they're staring at their cell phone,
and they fall in a fucking fountain.
And I laugh.
I laugh every time.
However, every time I go to a place of business,
it has some level of importance.
If I go to my certified public accountant
or my doctor's office
or engage with a professional service of some kind,
They got a fucking phone on the desk and it's got,
and it's plugged in.
They still have a listed commercial business telephone.
It's not just a goddamn smartphone that they can play Donkey Kong on or whatever the fuck the kids do.
What about their lines?
They got skin in this game too, don't they, Brian?
Well, let's just be happy again that you have your.
phone back.
I wonder how many people were calling in
about it. I wonder how many people still have landlines.
I'm a landline fan, but I wonder
in your area how many people still do.
Well,
one would think the
lady next door to me
does, although she may have given it up
after her son moved
off to college.
I don't know.
A bunch of communists around
here anyway. Who knows?
They might
they might be all on the radio spying on us all
the comments are known for the hatred of phones
is what they're known for
all of my neighbors are like the
neighborhood on the twilight zone
they're wondering who's in the
in the fucking basement
on a shortwave radio trying to communicate
with aliens from another planet
all right
speaking of aliens from another planet
John fell in Baltimore
I heard from him that
guess what he sent me,
you're never going to guess a million years,
so guess we'll wait.
We'll have to shave a time or two, but we'll wait.
Guess.
Malaria.
No, he did not send me the first lady of the United States.
Guess again.
John fell in Baltimore,
it's either a comic book
or a Baltimore-related wrestling program.
You are wrong on both counts
and see a million years is up now.
So I will tell you,
I don't know exactly where he found it
because I'm not going to grill him about
how did you get how much do you pay for this gift
that you got me or where did you get it for?
But I assume on the internet,
unless he has a time machine,
he came across and sent to me and Stacey
as a puppy warming present
assigned contract
to appear on a local Los Angeles
I guess talk show television program back in 1951
signed by Boris Carloff
wow
and it's just it's just swell
but the
the master of universal horror
once held that at his hand and signed it to take
I think $750 or whatever
it was to appear on a local LA television program,
I guess to promote something that he was doing
or just to, you know, it was television.
In those days, they just wanted to get people
that you knew on the air.
Debute as a big question mark.
The monster played by question mark.
Yes.
And then it was Karloff, just Karloff, which sounds so great.
And then when in The Mummy, was he not Karloff?
the uncanny, at least in some of the trailers, if not the, if not the credits.
But yeah, well, and see, that was, again, as the wrestling people learned things from the movie people
that now, you know, I think both of them have forgotten about.
But if you have a movie that's gotten a ton of publicity and one of the big points of contention
or points of mystery that everybody's talking about
is they know there's a monster,
but what's the monster going to look like?
They didn't reveal any pictures
of the Frankenstein's monster
before that movie came out,
that iconic face had never been seen before,
or envisioned or imagined.
That's why even in the movie,
if you go back and watch the original 1931 film
against logic,
But just because it added to the reveal and scared the teetotal shit out of the people in the theater,
when the monster is revealed and walks through the door,
he backs through the door and then turns around.
And then they go for the close-up.
But that and so part of the mystery was who, what the fuck is he going to look like?
And you can, you can apply that to wrestling.
and then also if they'd have put in the credits,
even though by that point,
Boris Karloff was not a name recognized
by the average moviegoer,
but he'd been an actor,
he'd been in a few movies,
including,
oh, God, damn it.
He was in a Cagney movie.
That's right.
Oh, God, damn it.
The big Cagney movie before, pre-code.
Yes, yes, no.
Yes, no, maybe.
Carloff was in a prison movie
I think it was a scene with Cagney
but it wasn't public enemy
I'm trying to but nevertheless
Carloff and Cagney in oh god damn it
yeah but
of point being
you could find a picture of Boris Carloff
if you looked
but so they didn't build him
in the opening credits so people
it was question mark the monsters
so people oh shit
and it
when you see him, you wouldn't know it was Boris Karloff anyway
with the makeup job, but that just added to the
to the mystery. So much like
Frankenstein's monster, John fell backs into a room and then
turns around for the big reveal. And we finally got back
to him to say, thank you, John. And I'll be returning his
comments in his letter privately, but I wanted to
acknowledge him for doing that. That was, you know,
never know what treasures are out there in people's file imagine people brine in 30 or 40 years
when i pass on going through my files and seeing all these goddamn autographs and things on the
no hey i quit wearing those so long ago i've only got a few pair left but no the well
you know i was just thinking the other day as i was going through the files looking for
various things we talk about here on the program.
I have all the Smoky Mountain wrestling television sign-in sheets.
Whatever we, if we taped a big event like Knoxville,
Night of Legends, or Super Bowl, or all the television tapings,
where the guys signed in and that was the video release.
And so there's like 30 autographs right there on each of these sheets.
And there's quite a number of them.
and there's a number of names involved.
I didn't know you did that.
You did that for every television taping?
Yes.
Yeah, at one point in wrestling,
there was no such thing as a fucking sign of release for video
because there wasn't a video that you could sell.
And it wasn't even a thing that was concerned about.
Back in the 50s with Fred Kohler and those guys,
they had their own thing going on,
but the territories,
none of the boys signed any kind of video release
for the TVs they did
or if the shows were,
or the matches were taped at the house shut.
But then as home video became a thing,
certain of the terror,
we never signed any releases in Memphis,
along with the rights of anything in Memphis.
But like TBS and, of course, Vince early on,
And then a few of the other companies started following suit when they started being able to do video releases.
They would have their own form of like, I think in, oh, God damn it.
In a couple of places in Dallas when they had the stamp on the back, I think it was.
They had a stamp on the back like you released rights or whatever when you endorsed your check, right?
and they did it different ways but in Atlanta which is what I was used to you would do the sign-in sheet when you'd come in for TV right
and there would be a name and a line whoever was booked for the show and you signed it
your name and Charlie McGowan took it around well the guys that bride here's what I was going to
what tickles me about this story is some
of the fucking guys
thought if they just scribbled their
signature or tried to disguise their
writing that it wouldn't count
when they signed the release
and when they signed the sheet
that's how they got paid
for the TV or
you've recognized you were there or whatever
so they had to sign it but they thought if they
fucking made their signature
look different if it ever
went to court
if it ever went to court
you're signing in at TVS
along with 30 fucking guys to get
do a studio wrestling show
but that that would absolve them
when the office representative
is actually physically watching them do it
next to their goddamn typed name on a line
and then they're accepting the check for it anyway
or accepting the payment for the TV
on their weekly check and blah blah blah
and so I just did that
as a you know the same
the blanket release at the
instead of having people sign individual paperwork
and Brian Hildebrand took the
it's the statement I released Smoggy Mountain Wrestling
to fucking show this shit on the air
or make whatever meager fucking funds
they could possibly scrape up together
whatever I can't remember
exactly what the wording was but
and then they'd say
And as some of them did to say, Robert Gibson would always make the most god-awful,
like somebody having a convulsion with ink on their hand,
trying to get out of just signing the thing.
But yes, that's what we did.
Does that answer your question?
Yeah, I didn't know you had those.
That's very cool.
So anyway, here's what we got.
Oh, thank you, John Fell, if we didn't already.
Did I finish that already, about Boris?
I guess I did.
You know, unfortunately, I always.
think about Boris Karloff now from Ed Wood, where they get the dentist that almost kind of
looks like Bella Legosi, he'll hide everything. They're like, he'll be the new Bella in the
movie. Doesn't he look like Bella? And I think Bill Murray says, now let's hear him call Boris
Carloff a cock sucker. You know what? One more Boris Karloff antidote, as they say,
you know what part he had in Broadway that he on Broadway in Broadway yeah he was
standing in the middle of the street what part he had on Broadway that he was they
wanted him to replicate in the movie version of the Broadway event but he couldn't
and I can't remember what the conflict was but he was signed to another studio or
shooting something else or whatever the case but do you remember this any no oh no I don't
no.
Arsenic and old lace.
Because the
in the Broadway
play, which he did play the part
of the crazy
blackhearted murderous
you know, stepbrother.
And they built
the first three quarters
the goddamn whole thing builds up to
the biggest pop in the fucking play
that brought to House Down on Broadway
was what he
You know, he said, don't say I look like Boris Karloff.
And that was, they were building this to the whole thing.
And it was Raymond Massey that had to play the part in the movie.
And he had the scars on his face and all the stuff and everything.
But they still had to put that line in.
But it fell flat because he didn't look like Boris Karloff.
Now you know something, don't you?
Now I know.
And knowing's half the battle.
That's half the battle right to watch.
I'll tell you know what we know some more about right now,
and I'm fixed to tell you about there, cousin Brian,
this AJ Stiles, Avery Stiles, Eric, too big for his own Britches,
canon outlaw mud show controversy that we first reported on a few days ago
on the drive-thru that made a big hoop-to-do
because apparently A.J. Stiles' son, Avery,
had his debut match not long,
impressed people.
He was booked to it.
It wasn't New York.
It wasn't the home base of
Garbage Championship Wrestling.
It was Minnesota,
apparently Minneapolis, possibly.
Minneapolis.
Or some parts in there,
I'll read this email at a second, but nevertheless.
And he was flown up there
and booked and advertised.
And this Eric Cannon Fellow,
made a big stink on Twitter because he didn't help set up to AJ's son, Avery,
didn't help set up the chairs or the ring or whatever the case was.
And there were people, you know, on both sides of the fence.
And I guess the people can listen to the drive-through or check the clip out on YouTube
if they want to bring it up to date on what we said about it.
But I have enough.
I have more to the story, Brian.
Would you like to hear this information
that I've gotten from a person
who shall be unnamed
but is a trusted person
by me to report on
wrestling the independent level
of the wrestling in the Minnesota area?
Let's just,
because he's got friends
that inhabit these environs
that he doesn't want to get fucking heat
with his guy to have him
blistering him on Twitter too.
So is that fair enough
we don't have to give this guy's name?
but I know who he is.
It's an independent person from Minnesota
and you know who it is? That's what you're saying?
No, I'm saying it is a person
that I know who it is from Minnesota
that knows things about independent wrestling
in Minnesota.
Is it Sean Waltman?
Oh, quit now.
Is it Jerry Lynn?
Mick Karch.
George Shire.
Poor Mick Karch now.
As soon as I've tried to joke,
they'll fucking, they'll find him.
He's, is Mick out of the home these days?
He's older than me.
No about that.
He was, he was, he was able to shave well before I was.
He's been around so long.
Anyway, this fellow says,
I am writing to give you some insight into Eric Cannon.
And this first line answers a question we had, Brian.
He's a 44-year-old, 20-plus veteran.
veteran 20 plus year veteran wrestler
who works Midwest Indies
and runs his own promotion first wrestling out of Minneapolis.
Remember when all the fucking complains
when a 20 year vet tells you to do something?
It was him he was talking about.
He's the 20 year vet.
Oh, I don't realize that.
Well, that's it. He just says he's a 20,
okay, as we'll find out,
any here's the next line
canon has never personally
done much past some occasional jobs
on a bigger than indie level
so this guy who's been doing
jobs for mud shows for
20 years was the one of us a way that 20
year bet is on the scene and is
telling you to do so what the he was
it was him
and here Brian you know
this guy you just don't know how would you
like me to tell you how you know him
yeah one thing before you do that
his name is spelled A-R-I-K, but you keep saying Eric.
Is it supposed to be pronounced Eric, or is it Eric?
That's what I said, Eric.
It may just be the accent, Brian.
You know, you have the accent because you're from the north of that, but A-R-I-K, Eric.
How you think I'm saying it?
Eric.
All right.
Well, what did this make?
White.
White.
Why?
Listen, this is a serious issue.
Well, that's what I'm telling you.
But you know this guy, this gentleman says,
you may remember him as the masked dark order member
who infamously threw the...
No!
...that missed by a mile and went viral.
Oh, wow, that's a callback.
Wow!
That's 2000.
about some long-term storytelling.
Wow.
So he was only a 13-year vest in.
Yeah, really?
He was a veteran at that point.
They'd know how to throw a punch.
And this gentleman goes on,
I have several friends who have worked with
and for this Creighton.
He sees himself as sort of a gatekeeper
of the Minnesota independent scene.
If you don't go with his program,
I.e. disagree with his personal beliefs,
he'll backstab and try to blackball you.
For instance, if guys work for Midwest All-Star Wrestling,
he won't use them and talks crap about them to other promoters.
In the past, he's booked such wrestling stars as Jelly Nutella,
pockets, and the dick flip guy.
So now I really, because remember I said to you,
when the whole Twitter thing was going on with him,
I've blocked him in the past and didn't remember why.
he's apparently a dick flip or comedy wrestler proponent
who's been previously blocked by me on Twitter
for being what I just said.
He says his shows feature intergender matches
and a painfully thin wrestler that rips off Sunny Kisses gimmick
complete with the ass to the face move and crotch-centered activity.
It's all about quote unquote fun
and making the wrestling business, quote, unquote, inclusive, therefore unrealistic and a big joke.
This is the, he just wanted somebody to help carry the chairs.
This is not a guy that is worrying about the tradition of fucking, what would Harley Rice say?
God damn it, no.
It's just, just don't make me carry my chairs, because listen to this, to the Avery Stiles issue.
Cannon reportedly does some backstage work for GCW
and most likely rented them his ring for a mud show
SummerSlam weekend held at First Avenue, a small music venue in downtown
Minneapolis.
Okay, it was in the downtown.
Being that Avery didn't train with this goof was flown in and it was only his
second match, I don't see why Cannon had to take his gripes to social media.
The kid still has learning to do,
maybe sitting him down and talking to him man to man,
would have been a more mature option.
But all I know is canon is an arrogant, smug hypocrite,
so this is most likely attention-seeking and bitterness on his part.
So maybe it's because he's thinking, motherfucker,
to get on a show in my own hometown,
I had to promise them I'd bring the ring.
And I've been doing this for 20 years.
and I could fucking be on the FBI 10 most wanted list
and walked down fucking Broadway
and nobody would look twice
and this guy is getting flown in from Georgia
at his second match
and he don't want to carry my fucking chairs.
I arrest my case.
And by the way, I saw something
and I'm not exactly sure where it was from
or the full quote,
but I believe it was a quote from Brett Lauderdale,
the GCW promoter.
And even he, even he, it seems,
thought this whole thing was ridiculous and he didn't expect the guy he booked to come and
help put up the arena or take it down.
It seems like it was one person who ran the social media to run with it and he got a lot
of attention for it.
He'll probably try to use this, maybe work a match with Avery Styles at some point, who
knows?
But it's ridiculous.
And the idea that young wrestlers are supposed to put up or take down the ring if they have
nothing to do with the person who owns the ring, who brought the ring, who should have a
staff of people to put up the ring if he needs that.
The whole thing's ridiculous, and Avery Stiles didn't do anything wrong.
And, well, and that's the thing is that I can vouch from being involved with a number of
lower budget wrestling enterprises, that if you've got a trip that's farther outside your
normal area, and you know a guy that can bring a local ring, that's what you're going to
fucking do. And Ted
Allen used to work
on
bring my ring
and Smoggy Mountain and work on the
opening matches of fucking Power Ranger
for the fair shows for the kids
or whatever the case was because he had the
suit and he was already there.
But that's,
you mentioned one thing.
As far as
turning this into an angle
or
working it in some
fashion based on it being a shoot,
I mean, Eric Cannon might want to at some point
because that's the way that somebody might actually
fucking hear about him again
because he's here to four been fairly underground
with this whole thing he's been doing for 20 years.
But I can tell you right now that AJ Stiles' advice to his son
is going to be fuck this fucking guy.
And what was the quote that the famous quote
that CM Punk delivered to triple,
age about 15 years ago or whatever now all has been forgiven but it still remains a classic line
i don't have to work with you you need to work with me that's this would do nothing it wouldn't
it wouldn't be a learning experience for avery styles he's probably about as good as this other
fucking character already who knows it wouldn't draw a major game
I know the son of AJ Stiles is just he probably doesn't have signatory authorization on his fucking father's bank accounts,
but he doesn't need the money for a one-time payoff that it might get from some Mark promoter
to want to fucking work with this guy that stirred up legitimate shit for no reason with him just because he's fucking
bitter old nobody fuck.
So I can tell you, AJ would tell Avery,
what this, what?
Don't even acknowledge this guy.
Don't, you know,
unless he does something really fucking crazy,
like flies to fucking Thailand or somewhere
to get a dick enlargement surgery,
you don't even fucking bring him up in your life anymore.
Thailand?
I don't know.
Miami, from what I understand.
Wherever they.
do those things.
I've heard from people.
I haven't checked into it,
so I wouldn't know the exact specifics yet,
but report back if you know anybody.
But that's the point is he doesn't need to work with this fucking clown,
and he just,
he caused some fans who were on the side of,
well,
this fucking little prick,
you know,
entitled,
they're never going to get the fucking picture or the message or the memo that,
you know,
what really happened or whatever,
they're just going to remember that.
they're starting to kit off with negative thoughts already
because this fucking guy
as he's if he has to be in his
early 40s one would think
and he's running to fucking Twitter
to goddamn
if you had an issue with this
fucking guy call him up on a fucking phone
or call his father
see how far that gets you
are you able
are you important enough to get AJ Stiles
his phone number
just don't tell him you're calling on behalf of the gay
community he may have a problem
Oh.
Jim, that's a deep cut for those who remember the story.
But Jim, Eric Cannon is 44 years old, 5 foot 7, 210 pounds.
Oh, Jesus Christ.
I don't know.
Well, at least he's over 200 pounds.
It's just you'd have to flap his arms to tell whether he's rolling or walking.
But anyway, so that's the situation there.
Just wanted to bring that up to date.
and any closing thoughts, Brian, on this whole thing
with Young Mr. Stiles and Double Barrow Cannon?
No, again, I think the whole thing was ridiculous
and much like the Rick Flair thing
where we said out he brought it to everyone's attention.
This guy brought it to everyone's attention.
No one knew anything.
Natty Knighthart was putting him over in a tweet
when the guy was like, you know what?
That's right.
Yeah.
Where he was like, you know what?
I'm going to say this.
He decided to jump into this.
And, you know, then he tweeted seemingly, you know, nonstop about it.
So obviously he enjoyed the attention it got.
Maybe he just felt very passionate about his point of view on this.
But maybe he just saw an opportunity to give us the benefit of his 20-something years of experience, putting up rings at his hometown for other promotions.
Anyway.
20-year-in-Vet.
I mean, that's just, it's crazy to think about that, just like what that was like in the 90s.
There were no 20-year indie vet.
Dale Mann, you know.
That's right.
There are no 20-year indie veterans.
It didn't exist.
Hey, that's the man, Dale man.
I'll have you know.
Yeah.
God damn.
And you know why he had been able to be a fucking indie vet for 20 years at that point?
Because he had not only bought his own ring,
but he had got a Kentucky promoters license.
So he was able to provide full service.
You can.
I'll run my own shows and bookie if you'll work cheap.
I'll rent my ring out and you can, I'll bring it and work on the show.
Or you can run your own show and put me on it used by license.
He was a one-stop shop.
Smart.
Anyway, before we go on and have fun, we got sad news, Brian, to report.
And we had heard about this just as the program was being recorded to drive through a few days
ago, but now it's come out and it made huge news in the city of Memphis.
But unfortunately, the legendary Prince Mongo has passed away.
And every single television station in Memphis had this on their local newscast.
It's on any website they have also.
So you could action news five or my God, this is the headline.
on at old channel 24 i don't know if it's still it's a bc affiliate now it used to be the
indie down there w pty why do you want to go potty uh prince mongo dies at 333
that they had well because you know brian that they're trying to be factual here
he was 89 in earth years but he was actually a 333
year old refugee from the planet Zambodia, who has lived in Memphis and was, you know,
that's the subheading, claiming to be 33 years old, but reportedly only 89.
Well-known Memphis character Robert Prince Mongo Hodges died Monday.
And apparently, I was reading all the news reports, these articles are all different.
you had to read three or four of them because one of them said apparently he was on a ladder trying to saw a limb off a neighbor's tree that was hanging over his property or something and he fell in the fucking neighbor's yard and was taken to the hospital never to recover.
Can you think this 90-year-old?
they actually they had a some type of court procedure in 1980 where he was declared legally with a mental illness and he got a check from that
and so here's a 90-year-old legally mentally ill motherfucker trying to sell a limb out of neighbor's tree and falls in a guy's yard and dies right there that's a way to go but nevertheless
And actually he's run for mayor several times after he was declared with a mental illness.
But do you know, not only did he come in third in 1978, I believe it was,
but do you know how he changed the course of Memphis City politics?
I wasn't even, I'd heard this story before, but I didn't have all the details until I read this obituary.
Not beyond the first time you talked about him a few months ago, I didn't know anything about him.
So no.
Well, he had run as recently in 2019,
and he came in third in the,
it was either 78 or 79 race,
but in 1991 he ran,
as well it says here,
Hodges ran in the historic 1991 Memphis mayoral race
that ultimately saw Willie Harrington
become Memphis's first black mayor.
In 1991,
city of Memphis had never had a black mayor.
Harrington beat the incumbent and three-time mayor Dick Hackett by only 143 votes.
And while Mongo never received the votes he needed to officially trespass in local politics,
his 1991 campaign played a significant role in Bluff City history as Memphis Lord dictates that Hackett may have won a fourth term,
if not for Mongo garnering thousands of votes that otherwise may have gone to the incumbent.
And then later on, it was Willie Harrington that Lawler came in trying to, I believe it was Willie Harrington.
He was trying to unseat, and he came in like third.
So Jerry Lawler and Prince Mungo at one time or another, both come in third in the race for mayor of Memphis.
And remember that we talked about the mansion he had, Mongo's castle, that he had, that he had converted into a night.
but he lived in that spooky old place, but it was, it's a historic mansion.
He, it's, they closed him up and ran him out of it like 20 something years ago,
but now apparently it's on the market or was last year for two and a half million dollars.
So they may have done some renovations.
But yeah, yeah, yeah, here, he received the third most votes in Shelby County race in 1978.
and so an era.
Brian, it's over.
An era has come to an end.
The local character.
It seems like it's a shrinking thing.
Everyone wants to be, you know,
TikTok famous or whatever it is worldwide.
Used to be just local people who were famous in one area
than something like this.
40, 50 years later,
you learn about them.
You never even knew they were there the whole time.
Well, see, now the thing back then, there was only one or two that they stood out.
But now it's like wrestling.
Everybody now, you could probably find a thousand fucking Prince Mungos if you look for them.
They're all just, they're fucking crazy.
They're just standing on the corner being crazy.
But he had style and panache and stood out with the aviator goggles and the rubber chickens
and the fucking decorative robes.
And, you know, as a matter of fact, well, it says here he came into the courtroom.
He was getting, he, the ruling that he was mentally ill came on April 8th, 1980.
It entitled him to receive $2,000 per month from an insurance policy.
So he came into court barefoot wearing a knee-length fur coat,
said that he was 33 years old from planet Zambodia,
and sprinkled white powder on the Florida ward,
off evil spirits and therefore won the verdict.
I mean, they don't have style like that anymore.
Everybody's just drooling and chewing on something on a street corner.
Rest in peace up there on Zambodia, Prince Mungo.
Brian, you know something else that I don't know whether he's going to be able to rest in
peace with or not, but it's troubling him.
he's announced Cody Rhodes has announced
Cody, Cody Rhodes has announced
it's troubling him
about the neck tattoo.
He actually came out, he said,
it may be one of his biggest regrets,
but at the same time, you know,
he's learning to, how did he say it,
it's learning to get by with it?
Who could have thought?
Well, again, this is a bit of a call back
to an earlier episode where we discussed
the debut of Cody's necktats.
You may remember it was
an AEW pay-per-view. I don't remember which one
was him and MJF. It was a big match.
And Cody came out there
and you thought you saw something, but he had, like, I think, the jacket and the
scarf, like, you know, everything was, not scarf,
but towel around his neck. Couldn't really tell.
Well, he could have a scarf like Lindbergh flying in on, you know,
fucking spirit of St. Louis. I don't think that's what he had, but.
Aviator goggles like Prince Mongo. Come on.
It's maybe a good gimmick now that I'm thinking about it, but
when he showed the bare neck and you saw the tattoo at first,
I didn't even think it was real.
Like, oh, he got some kind of cling on.
Applicate.
Yeah, something that will just cling to the skin and he'll remove it after the match.
It'll come off like the Ultimate Warrior's face paint after five grueling minutes.
But no, it never came off.
You can see the horror in MJF's face in the ring.
If you go back and watch that when he saw that tattoo,
because it became the story.
Oh my God, look at what Cody did.
He got a giant crooked tattoo on his neck,
and we made a lot of jokes about it,
and what Brandy must have thought,
and what Dusty would have thought,
and why would you do this?
And people who defend Cody would say,
he believes in himself, he's doubling down on himself,
which obviously can only be done
by getting a tattoo of some insignia you developed on your neck.
Not only on your neck,
reaching up into the jawbone and the channel area.
It was always puzzling because we knew that Cody really wanted to be an actor.
And even though he had finally embraced wrestling, he still wanted to do acting.
He's still doing acting.
Not a convenient tattoo to have.
You know, the people in the makeup department may not like this so much.
But anyway, here's a quote.
Let me get to this.
I have a tweet here from cultaholic wrestling.
Cody Rhodes considers the neck tattoo
to be the greatest regret of his life
Rhodes believed it was going to be much smaller
than it ended up being
and then here's a quote from
the one wait a minute now before we even go to the quote
okay
if he thought it was going to be smaller
and he's the one that was getting it
and he had
he had approved the artwork
in some fashion
wouldn't you take your finger and your thumb, Brian,
and tell that guy with that needle and all that inkie,
I wanted to go from about, about, about, about, yeah, about over the day, right?
Right, right about to see, are we all clear on this?
Would you do something like that?
I'm just a simple, simple small town bird lawyer.
Again, this is not just a big tattoo on his arm or his thigh,
right on his neck.
I would make sure everything was gone over explicitly.
But here's a quote from the,
What do you want to talk about, show?
I stand by the fact that I think the work is great,
and the artist is great.
But I also will reveal,
as I think I've revealed on this pod before,
the neck tattoo,
I would widely consider the greatest regret of my life.
And you know what?
I live with it.
I ain't trying to get it removed,
and we're going to rock this until the very end.
Oh boy
When I saw it
And it was in my jaw
And it was so big
My life changed
Looking in a mirror
If my dad came back to life
He would not say congrats
He would lose his shit
And the quote
You've ruined yourself
So that's what
Dusty would have said
That's good
I think that's what I said
Don't do
shit you don't know how to do, baby.
Remember, there was a picture,
right after he got it and it was like a picture from the side
and it looked like he was crying.
It looked like he was like, what have I done?
What have I done?
What have I done?
I mean, now you've kind of got used to it.
But if you've seen him for the first time,
it does tend to dominate your view of his whole entire head and face,
the whole cranial area.
but that's what I can't
if he said the artist is great
did he tell the artist look you here
I want it again from about over
beyond right about up in this area here
and he's fucking feeling one would think
and do you just
do you sit down
and not ever look in the mirror
I mean when somebody's cutting my hair
even though I've got my glasses on
I'm squinted a little bit just kind of
make sure they didn't fucking leave any landing strips or anything.
He didn't,
that had to take a while.
Let me,
let me take a peek.
Whoa,
that outline.
Don't fill all that in just yet.
What's happened?
I mean,
there's,
I'm speechless.
And again,
obviously that was not a consult your wife kind of moment for Cody,
which is another problem.
You have to imagine.
What did he,
What did he say, Brandy, I'm going to run down the street to the store for about six hours.
I'm going to go hang out with QT for a while.
I'll be back later.
I'll be back, disfigured.
Disfigured.
That was the thing.
When if for his debut, I was like, that's so crazy, he would never do that.
What a career disaster that would be.
And then when you realize he really did it, it was like depressing almost.
That was like one of those, Cody's two into his own shit.
Because it was right at the same time where,
like every other thing in AEW had nothing to do with Cody.
Everyone was involved in everything else.
Cody was in his own little universe and then he got the neck tattoo.
Maybe he was in at that point he was trying to do something to motivate himself or to
reaffirm himself to himself and and then he got to be the biggest star in a fucking
business and said well shit.
I could have done this without the fucking tattoo.
because he could have the exact same shit.
And you made it didn't kill his wrestling career.
I don't think any many particular favors,
but most everybody overlooks it now, as I said.
But like you said, for regular television,
and he's still a young fellow,
and he's certainly not as bad as,
that ought to be his marketing slogan to Hollywood,
not as bad as some other wrestlers.
But that's going to be,
you know, just kind of a pain in the ass to deal with,
or maybe he could always play a guy that's just been
in a rear-end car collision to wear a neck brace.
I don't know.
Didn't he say you wanted to get involved in politics?
You wanted to be a politician one day, run for office?
Well, it's red, white, and blue, but I'm not sure that it's just, you know.
It's like a little demon.
Like, what is it?
Yeah, it's red, it's red, it's blue, but what?
He represents the Satanistic party.
would you get it removed?
Is it a good move if he turns heel?
I wouldn't have got it applied.
If he turns heel, is it a good move
for him to get on the mic?
And guess what?
I'm getting it removed.
And then we could slowly watch week by week and go?
If he turns heel,
I would immediately start doing all my promos
standing to the side so that the camera gets the shot of that.
And I'd do promos about how fucking great it was.
That's good, actually.
That's good.
Because that'll get him some heat.
It just reminds of people.
Look at what I had stuck on my fucking face.
Maybe they could use it as a stip, like him against punk.
A loser gets a tattoo removed.
Well, here's the problem.
Brandy can help.
Brandy could turn on Cody.
I mean, not in real life, but just like turn on him to get him to lose the tattoo so she can keep the marriage together.
Well, but no, the thing is that punk just got one removed.
You wouldn't be able to tell.
Because he's got just tattoos all over the place.
No, it would have to be a prominent one.
It would have to be the Pepsi one or the cobra one.
Well, I was just saying with Cody, that's the only one he's got.
So it's so fucking, I think they ought to either, what about this?
What about either whoever loses, Cody has to get the tattoo removed or punk has to
fucking work in a scuba diving suit for the rest of his life.
Just cover them all up.
Maybe that wouldn't work.
I don't know.
We will stay on top of this story.
workshop that. We've been covering this story since it first happened that we will stay on this beat
going forward. You know, as a matter of fact, Brian, I'm thinking, what about this since Cody only
has the one tattoo? He's got plenty of room. What about the other side of his neck? What do you think?
Should we, you know, should we maybe call up our friends at prize picks and see if they'll take
some kind of, to deal on, you know, what the heck, is Cody going to get another tattoo?
or will punk switch to Coke instead of Pepsi?
Or, you know, do they have that line of interest at our friends at prize picks?
Because they're covering everything else.
They're covering the scorching sports summer.
Apparently women's basketball and baseball are heating up.
Brian, did you know about that?
I didn't even know they let the women play the baseball.
Or do they mean just women's basketball and regular baseball?
What's heating up right now?
Women's basketball is happening,
but there is now a women's baseball league
that has just started.
I don't know if that's who they're referring to,
but there's...
Well, it's heating up.
Baseball.
I'll tell you what.
They're getting hot over there.
Women's baseball.
You mean the Philadelphia Phillies?
Ah, I see what you did there.
And every football preseason game kicks off this month.
Did you know that?
The preseason games are played before the season.
They did it one.
time and it's been so successfully repeated that every time.
And they got big tennis slams and major golf tournaments.
They're just on the horizon.
Brian, what about the tidily winks?
And the world's dainty championship.
Did you see that?
They did that.
I think it was in Zurich, Switzerland the other day on the news.
Hey, remember what this golf was a big thing?
I remember disc golf, but, you know, the problem is somebody slipped to disc.
They had to, fucking that ended up in court.

All right, well, as we move on here,
we will cover the past weeks,
as we sit here now, episode of Dark Side of the Ring,
the one on Mr. Wonderful Paul Orndorf.
And, boy, again, besides that, you know,
I wished for more territory footage, as I always do,
he's another guy that's been overlooked or not
I hate to use the word exploited but by the WWE massive archives
but you get as we've talked about a number of times you get the same
footage it seems like in the documentaries of the same guys
and there's some major names that they just don't ever
you know touch on that much and Paul Orndorf has been another one
but this reminded everybody, and Brian as an 80s
WWF aficionado, you knew already,
but it reminded a lot of other people how big he was at one point in time
and at company.
Yeah, he was massive, and the Hogan feud in 86
was Hogan's big money feud.
It drew that surprise big house at exhibition stadium in Toronto,
but it was hot everywhere and went.
And that's off Orndorf being a baby feud.
face for a little over a year, just a little over a year. Before that, he was a heel. And he did a lot of
business, and I'm glad they talked about it here. The rumor when I got into wrestling big time was that
he was dead, that his heart had exploded. Because even like the LJN, he was in one of the first
LJNs, like maybe the second or, I think the second series or the third series. Don't tell me they
marketed it with an exploding heart. It was massive. Like, it had the most defined muscles out of any
figure in the line.
But, you know, I,
what was your question? You had a question
here somewhere. Well, no, I was saying it just reminded
people of how big he was
in the company and
and you know, that's the thing
is that you mentioned
he was a heel before. At the first
WrestleMania, he was the heel
involved in the main event tag
match against Hogan.
And of course, because they needed
somebody, as I mentioned in the
episode, they needed somebody to do the job.
because Piper wasn't going to do it,
but they needed Piper in the match
because the heat was with Piper,
and Orndorf was so good.
They knew he also,
if Mr. T. fucked up,
he could kind of, you know, steer him in a right direction, whatever.
But they managed to have him oppose Hogan as a heel
at the first WrestleMania in March, 1985,
mend his ways, become a baby face,
team up and become identified as Hogan's partner and friend,
and then turn him heel again
in time for the summer of 86
to draw the biggest fucking crowd in the history of North American wrestling.
That's a pretty good,
and then all over the house shows,
that was a hell of a fucking run.
That's magic.
And think about how quickly it changed.
And then he's not on WrestleMania 3.
You've always
hear the rumor that he was the backup
of Andre couldn't work.
Who knows what's true
and what isn't,
but he wasn't on
WrestleMania 3.
They turned them baby face,
feuded him with Rick Rood.
He was at Survivor Series.
He was gone by the beginning of 88.
Well, and see that
that ties into the same
time frame
that,
because after the run with Hogan was over,
he was hurt during that.
But he didn't want to give up the money,
He didn't want to give up the spot,
but as he started, you know, being honest with Vince,
I need to, you know, I'm hurt.
I need time off, whatever.
That was always his bone of contention that he asked for time off
and they wouldn't give it to him.
So he took his own because it was Paul Orndorff.
He's going to, ultimately he's going to do what he wants to do.
But, you know, that ties in with that time frame is what I'm saying.
We're bouncing around a little bit, but.
you know, when it comes to the arm, I know he was hurt working with Hogan, and a lot of people
attribute that to the degeneration of his arm. But I think if you look back, even like in
Mid-South in 81-82, there already were mild changes in the two arms. Like, there was already
something happening, and he was a high-impact guy who played football and then got into wrestling.
I've always wondered if the atrophy that would take place
if it didn't start earlier than the Hogan feud.
It may have, and it may have been something that Paul being, you know,
Paul Orndorff, I'm not hurt, it just figured was the aches and pains of whatever he was doing.
And see, and I guess people are confused because, well, was it an arm, his neck?
He had a neck injury, which caused nerve damage, which caused nerve damage, which caused,
his left arm to lose, or was it right, right arm, I'm sorry, to lose strength and atrophy,
to lose size.
But the problem originated in the neck area, which is why that at the end of the program,
like he said, we're jumping around, they showed when he gave the guy the pile driver,
it jarred his neck, which caused paralysis temporarily, thankfully, in his limbs and
etc, but it originated with a neck issue.
So who knows it could have been something
that he was working through for a while,
but he always attributed that one bump that he took
that they showed in the footage on the show
to when it really became a thing that was happening
and at the worst time.
So all of these things, yes, can be.
And one of the things that I wish there was more of me
on the program. Of course, that's always a safe shot, but you know what I mean. But at the start,
the way that he got into the business and the level that he achieved early on, you know,
obviously it would need to be a two-hour program for me to go into 30 minutes on the air of his,
you know, start in the business. But Eddie Graham from the start thought, I'm sure. I mean,
I'm reading his mind here, but you can tell with what they did,
he thought he was breaking in the future NWA champion.
Because this was, when this guy comes to him,
it's late 1976,
and the territories are still in full swing,
and there's no hint that that's going to change.
And Eddie Graham was a kingmaker in the NWA.
And he had trained Jack Briscoe.
We talked about with Dory passing away a few, you know,
last week that Dory Senior had trained Dory Jr. to be the ultimate NWA champion, and
Eddie Graham did the same thing with Jack Briscoe. And even though Paul Orndorf was not
an NCAA wrestling champion, and he was getting him when he was 27 years old or whatever,
instead of, you know, five years beforehand, he was doing the same thing. The footage that
they first showed on television of Orndorff here in Memphis, which was his very first
territory, was of the workouts that he had with Matsuda. And I mean, they fudged either,
or I don't say they, Brian Blair, who's one of the folks on the program, he may have fudged
the timing. I don't think that were Hogan, Brian Blair, and Orndorf all in the same class,
or were they just in the same era of training?
Brian, do you remember?
I thought maybe Brian Blair
overlapped the two of them,
but I don't know about Orndorff and Hogan
at the same time.
But nevertheless,
I don't know that they had Orndorff work any shows in Florida
before they sent him to Tennessee.
Because like they did,
they put Hogan under a mask,
Super Destroyer,
but I don't remember if they ever booked Orndorff there or not.
point being the footage that they sent up was Orndorf and Backlin.
Bob Backlin was down there working in Florida at the time and he was another hot shot
amateur and a conditioning freak.
So they were doing the wild Japanese calisthenics where they intertwined their legs and
do sit-ups toward each other and all this fucking funky shit.
And he looked just in this footage like a badass.
and then the reason why is Eddie Graham had called Jerry Jarrett and said,
I've got this kid, he's mature, but he's got the size and the athletic background and the look.
Eddie Graham didn't want to break him in in Florida where people would always see him as this green guy.
He wanted to send him out.
And Jared took him and built him by like the Magnum T.
formula, but not as quick wins, not like 20 seconds on television or whatever.
But his finish was a gut wrench, as they call it these days, the side santo,
because it was amateurish, wrestler-ish, and it was easy to perform.
And he brought him in and gave him the big build as this former pro football player
athlete from Florida that's been trained and, you know, by the great, you know,
hero vatsuda, blah, blah, blah.
And he put him over
David Schultz, who was a reliable
heel at the time, and
could lead him through the thing
in a little three-week program, and
then immediately put him in the ring with
Lawler for the Southern title.
And as we know,
Lawler can have a match
with a broomstick, but Paul
held his part up.
They were doing these tremendous
vertical suplexes and all
this shit and Orndor
I saw the matches.
He hung in there every step of the way.
And this was six months maybe after his first lesson.
And the Southern Heavyweight Championship was his first title in wrestling.
And then after that, I want to say, Brian, that was the, he left the territory here in the fall of 77.
Is that when he went to work for Watts?
Or did he go to Georgia?
But nevertheless.
He may have gone back east, because remember he was also eventually,
it was a little bit later in Mid-Atlantic,
but he would work for Watts for a while a little bit later,
and you know, you know how grueling it was,
and back then it was before the territory was unified, too.
He may have gone there before Watts took over,
but he was with Watts.
And Watts always claimed that years later,
Orndorf called him up and thanked them.
and thanked them and just said like I didn't realize how much I was learning when I hated you so much or whatever.
Yeah, yeah.
Working for you.
But that was the thing is that over the next from 1977, which is when he started in Tennessee, April, I think of that year.
From then until he started in the WWF, what seven years later, he worked every major territory.
and he was always on top.
He had the long run into Carolinas.
He and Jimmy Snooka were the world tag team champions.
He was heavily, he was perfect for Mid-South Wrestling and for Bill Watts
and was featured down there and had angles and programs with DiBiase.
And those tapes are what you can find of them are fantastic.
But he, you know, really worked with the top guys in all of the top
Georgia.
Did he ever go back to Florida?
I'm trying to, did he ever have a run in Florida for Eddie Graham before he went to New York
and Eddie was gone?
Nevertheless, he did exactly what they did with all the guys that they felt could go all
the way to the top.
He worked all of the top working territories, the core NWA markets, the, he was always
featured in main events and made money.
from the start. He was just, he was a prodigy
is what I'm, the point I'm trying to get across.
And it's just if the, if things had existed
with the NWA and the territory system further than they did,
he's a guy that they would have been talking about. When do we put the NWA
world title on? Yeah, and he was one of the first guys too. You know, when you think
about the national expansion, the clear signs that,
like something was happening.
He showed up in the WWF, I think it was like October of 83.
So before Hogan, before, it was clear that there was a war coming in off Georgia TV
where he wasn't 83.
Yeah.
And he stood out because of the physique.
I guess because it was still the ushering in of the physique era.
And for some guys, the steroid era, it still stood out when one guy showed up with
the physique.
well but it also at that point it was his intensity just his look and his work
he had the best lockups i've ever seen in wrestling where every time he locked up it looked
like it was a fight everything was more aggressive and just looked more so you you say he stood
out from the rest of the guys it was because of all of that because he looked like this
motherfucker may be a little serious here what the fuck that element translated and that's why he
got over because he had just the fire.
When he was a baby face, he had the fucking fire on the
comebacks, Creed practically jump up and down, and when he was a
heel, he loved to get heat.
And he had that pile driver. They pointed it out in Darkside, but
I mean, I think he may have the best pile driver ever. No disrespect to
Jerry Lawler, plenty of disrespect to Bob Sweetin.
I think Paul, who had the pile driver in his name, that was ridiculous.
Paul Orndorff, I think, had the best one.
Well, and then, I mean, there was a lot of guy in Orton and Dennis Condry didn't use it often,
but had a fucking leaping pile driver that technically may have been better than Orndorfs,
but Orndorff had the size, the physique, the animosity, the delivery, the whole thing that it,
you know, if anybody since Bill Longson has made any money with it,
Orndorff was probably the most.
But that was, with this episode, they did cover his, you know, and we talked about it when we had Evan Husty on a program and his childhood.
His parents were tough in their own way.
And he was a fighter from the time he was a kid, but he was a high-level amateur athlete in school.
And, you know, they had a clip of Paul said, well, I just fell out of love with football.
the football, I don't know, was completely smitten over Paul either, but it didn't work.
And I think Blair said he played four years for New Orleans or whatever.
He was in the draft.
You know me, I don't know the football.
But there was a team in Jacksonville that when they finally advertised him up here,
I remember that they advertised that he had played for pro football,
a team in Jacksonville.
And that wouldn't be the Jaguars 50 years ago, would it?
I don't believe so. No, I'm not sure who.
It may have been the USFL or one of those other football.
That wasn't a thing.
Well, I don't know what to fuck, but there was some, because I wrote his first,
and I showed it on the Darkside episode, but I wrote like three paragraphs and sent in some
pictures to Norm Kitzer, which was the first mention of Paul Orndorf ever at a rest of
magazine in the wrestling news.
I own that.
I know you do.
I own one of them.
You own the entire goddamn fucking company.
It all circles back around,
and now I own that archive.
Yes.
I was working for Norm Kaiser,
now I'm working for you.
Hold on real quick.
He played football University of Tampa.
He was selected by the New Orleans Saints.
He played with the Jacksonville Express.
Boom.
The World Football League.
world football. All right. So I'm not crazy. Or let me rephrase that. I wasn't incorrect in this instance.
Travis Orndorf, Paul's son, comes off. I saw somebody on Twitter saying maybe better than anybody has in the series.
But definitely he came off well and he got his point across and relieved himself, I think, of any lingering heat over the instant they talked about, which we'll get to at the end of the program on
the video that he released, but
the wife, Rhonda, did not come off nearly as well,
did she?
Jesus Christ.
Yeah, who knew?
You know,
but the thing is, this was
six, seven years ago
that we're talking, five, six years ago,
now that we're talking about, how old would this woman have been
when she was still on meth?
and as Brian Blair said,
strung out on drugs and things.
She'd have to be 60?
Wouldn't she?
I can't do this math in my head.
They said she went to high school with the Werndorf,
so yes, she would have to be.
With Wondorf,
with her husband, with Paul.
She needs to find Flair.
Anyway,
so at a writ,
and to be fair,
they said she originally got on pain pills
because she had rheumatoid arthritis, the wife.
But apparently she stayed on them for the next 35 fucking years or whatever.
And that was the thing that when Paul had always said,
and in those days it was easier with Vince, obviously.
I guess the 90s Vince was a kinder and gentler Vince
because he let guys get away with all kinds of shit.
I'm hurt, okay.
Every once in a while, like Sid, he'd have to chase him to get him to come
back, but I've heard in the 80s, it was very tough to get time off. And he said, hey, my arm, I can't ignore it.
He needed time off. He didn't get it. He took it anyway. And it left, as he said, with, you know, on
bad terms with Vince. And that's where he retired. And I remember hearing about this
contemporaneously, because, you know, people in the business were talking about it.
The story was, well, Paul retired and opened a bowling alley,
and we're like, what the fuck?
We didn't know, or at least, you know, just everybody in a business.
I guess his close friends did,
but that he had found a financial advisor,
and as part of all this money that he had made,
it was a bowling center they were having constructed
and it was going to be an ongoing,
we just thought Paul just suddenly decides to buy a bowling alley.
But the plan was a little more grandee.
than that.
But the financial guy that he found was a fucking crook.
Boy, this is a, I think the first thing that financial advisors ought to do when they
introduce themselves to people is goddamn show you a copy of their lack of criminal
record at this point.
Yeah, no kidding.
But the financial guy was a crook, was a Ponzi scheme.
I always like Ponzi and happy days, but I don't.
understand he got in a bunch of fucking shady shit when he left the show.
But he stole all his money.
And the guy, I guess, went to jail.
He was up on the charges, whatever.
But it wasn't apparently just Paul.
But nevertheless, Paul fucking rolled a gutter ball on the bowling alley and had to go back to wrestling.
And that's why, again, I had mentioned when he came to work for me in Smoky Mountain,
it's because he was already working, he was in Atlanta,
but he was working independence and,
God damn it, I'm going to say, yes,
was he the guy we added to the first tape?
Was he on the first Smoggy Mountain taping,
or was it the second taping?
It was Ronnie Garvin and Y,D, that were at the first taping,
but I put Y,D at a dark match, bless him.
But nevertheless, he was already doing independent,
it shows and Bobby Fulton was running towns around the Carolinas at the time and said, hey, Orndorff is
wrestling again.
And I said, let's get him for the next Spogie Mountain taping.
And that's when I brought him in him.
He loved working with Ronnie Garvin because they, they were both so talented.
They loved working with each other because they wanted to make it legitimate.
And at the same time, they knew neither of the other was going to do anything stupid.
so it gave the show credibility when I could have
Ronnie Garvin against Paul Orndorff on my TV
in Hazard, Kentucky.
But that's why that he, because he came back
after losing all that fucking money,
he'd gone through all that shit to make.
And then the oldest son, remember,
it was out several years ago, or a few years ago, whatever.
It was on the news and,
Tampa where they had had Paul Orndorf the third in a high-speed chase.
Apparently he was, went to prison early, was on drugs and a major fuck-up to begin with,
unlike Travis who, think about this, and with the time period and the ages,
Travis was born probably what, 40, maybe 45 years ago when Paul was in the territories,
but by the time he was the late 80s, Paul was in Indies and or working out of WCW at home.
Whereas the first kid, if he was born 10 years earlier, his whole formative years were when Paul was gone
and he was home with the mother that was on pills.
You brought up WCW, no mention of him going there in 1990.
It made it, you know, the way they edited it.
It sounded like he went right to the UWF when he decided to come back to wrestling.
But he went to WCW.
That's, that's good.
Remember we talked about it was a footnote because he was only there about three months
and I think was on a per night and was like, well, this is bullshit.
And, you know, and didn't really, didn't stay.
More people saw that than the UWF, the Herb Abrams UWF.
Well, I know, but it does illustrate the point that he did a lot of Indies during that period of time.
I mean, that's, you know, I thought the first half of this was really well done.
And I thought the second half, in terms of some of the wrestling stuff, it was just all over the place.
You know, he wasn't one of the people WCW hired to get WWE guys.
Bill Watts was the one that went after him, wasn't he?
Yeah, he called me as House Ball, remember I told all that story.
but that's the the problem was is that you know he was a perfect guy for bill watts but by the time
that Watts was gone and there was Paul Orndorf by 1995 well they didn't know what to do with anybody
but that's where that fucking I hadn't seen that shit in 30 years and they showed it to Gary Spivey
oh my God yes to prep and I didn't see all of it then because it wasn't like I was
watching faithfully for that, nor was anyone else.
But it reminded me just,
that's some of the worst shit that's ever been done to a top fucking guy,
isn't it?
He was, I mean, I know it was 1995, not 1986,
when he drew the biggest crowd in the history of fucking North American wrestling.
But did they have to go that far with that?
Well, again, he wasn't a top guy at that point then.
He was just coming off his tag team of Paul Roma, pretty wonderful.
And I didn't know who that guy was.
When he started showing up on wrestling, I thought it was like some wrestling manager.
I was like, oh, this sucks.
I thought he was related to Danny Spivey.
Yeah, Danny Spivey wishes he had that hair.
And then when you hear that this was like a real guy that was on TV,
none of it makes any sense why this happened or how or why this happened.
None of it makes sense.
It was that mid-90s WCW grasping for celebrity crossover.
I mean, I think that's where, well, this was right where our friend Vinny Rue was getting a lot of ideas.
Anyway.
They didn't bring up also the injury angle they did early on in Nitro, where he was put out with a neck injury, which explained him not being there.
That's, I think, when he kind of went more to the power plant.
and I guess because they did Vader already, right?
That's why they didn't talk about the Vader incident.
Did they do Vader?
Yes, because that was, yeah, well, it was on the, no, it was on the Vader show.
So they thought, well, if we, you know, then there's, to tell it right,
there's four or five minutes that we've already done from the other side of the fence.
But, uh, but the, the most heartbreaking footage was when they had the,
he had moved to training at the power plant.
and to be honest again, that's something that Paul would have been excellent at.
And I'm sure he was until they wanted to book him in a match.
And Brian Blair again said that he was not particularly anxious to go out and do it.
And when you saw his arms, I could understand why Paul wouldn't want to be on TV at that point
because he looked great for a normal 50-whatever-year-old guy,
but not what he had looked like.
But they had the angle that was,
it wasn't really explained on dark side
because I don't know that it was fully fleshed out
when they did it,
but because he had trained the guys on the other team
in the power plant, he was opposing them,
and it was a 10-man tag or whatever the fuck it was,
elimination match is all clustered up.
And what did he get?
It was Gendrack.
And that's, I partially explained on this show.
But the whole explanation would have been long and wordy and unwieldy.
But he had, a taller guy is the harder guy to pile drive.
It wouldn't just Gendrack's weight.
It was his height.
and for Paul to be able to get the leap that he used to get
and do it like he did the first when he kind of got it okay.
It wasn't like days of old,
but Gendrack was a second guy he was trying to do.
Gendrack kicked his feet up first before Paul was set to take him,
and that threw it off a bit.
So when Paul tried to get him right and get him up there,
they were sideways.
and Gendrach's not only not straight, but his feet are so.
That's a lot of weight, but there's wind resistance or whatever it is when your feet are so far up near.
It's easier to pile drive a guy the same weight.
It's a foot shorter.
But anyway, Paul went over sideways, and when he landed, it jammed his neck,
which caused the stinger or the disc of his son said,
his neck, and that is technically
if the disc slips out
place, whatever the fuck.
Point being,
he was numb, he couldn't move.
They clipped out the part where they had the guy
fucking, he told her every other guy,
cover me and pin me, I can't move.
They beat him.
And that was the last time
he was able to be physical and he was
kind of fucked up in regular pain
the rest of his life. But
it's the equivalent of
a different kind of angle
on a rear-end car wreck which jams your neck.
Instead of being hit by a force right from the back,
he was hit by landing with all of his weight,
plus Jindrax weight on his ass,
which sent a jolt into his already,
as Gordon Sully would say, compromised neck.
But nevertheless,
so after that, they had footage of the Hall of Fame ceremony in 2005,
which he was looking still good and et cetera.
And then by 2010 with the cancer,
his son says also the dementia was kicking in.
And remember we had said,
he was on this show,
I think even before you came along, Brian.
And he was telling people that his memory problems
were the result of his cancer treatment,
which that may have exacerbated it,
but it obviously, it was Alzheimer's or dementia or whatever,
along with all of his other issues.
And just, you know, it was sad to see a guy that, you know,
always strong, able to take care of himself or pride himself on being able to take care of himself.
And, you know, by the time he, you know, goes to the hospital,
for the pneumonia that he had.
Brian Blair said that he thought his wife was abusing him.
That's where he said she was strung out.
And his son had gotten out of jail again
and punched him in the nose or whatever, not Travis, but the other one.
And then his wife wouldn't take him,
when he was, the hospital wanted to release him after the pneumonia,
his wife wouldn't take him back.
So that began Travis's battle of trying to get,
I don't know whether he's not the next of kin.
He didn't have power of attorney,
the conservatorship or whatever,
but they would let him take him out of the hospital
until he put that video out and called attention to the issue
and that he needed to be able to come home.
And that's how he was able to spring him from the medical facility,
which was because Travis had heat for a while over that
with Cheryl Briscoe mentioned it.
Not sure why that he was doing it.
It was because he was trying to get attention so he could get him out of there.
It's really, it's really sad.
You know, this is really, injury aside,
this is really less dark side of the ring and just dark side of the home life
away from the ring, because, you know, the way Paul Orndorff always came across,
even when you would hear other people talk about him, like Bobby Heenan,
just this high-strung, high-energy guy.
irritable.
You never think like, man, his home life,
you know, at various points,
just a complete, you know,
wreck, you know, it's really sad.
It's really sad.
Well, and, and I wouldn't say irritable,
sometimes irritable.
High strong, yeah, high energy.
He was all so fun and he'd fucking,
he had a lot of energy and he went into,
if he was cranky, he was really cranky.
But if he was happy, he was really happy.
He was really,
all of those things.
And that's why he'd always had to take care of himself.
He fought when he was a kid.
He'd gone through bullshit.
But he,
you know,
he's a man's man,
as cowboy Bill Watts used to say.
And that's why to just see him,
you know,
in that state physically and mentally
and just dependent on whoever the fuck,
you know,
might have custody of him at the time.
That was,
you know,
tough to watch.
But anyway, that was Paul.
Next week won't be tough on the eyes.
It's Missy Hyatt.
I can't wait because...
This could be good.
If they...
This could be good.
Well, here's the thing.
I'm in it, according to the trailer,
and I wasn't scheduled to be, but...
That's what a lot of people said about Missy.
I'm in it, and I wasn't scheduled to be.
Oh, come on now.
Oh, I'm just kidding.
I'm just kidding.
I'm just kidding.
Would you stop?
It's terrible that you would.
It was a joke.
But what I'm trying to say, the son, is I'm in it.
I wasn't scheduled to be, but while they were shooting here,
they were working on that episode also.
And they said, hey, well, you've worked with Missy,
and you've known her at various points.
And so I got a couple of comments.
So I'm just pooping in for a cameo appearance in the show.
her more
I will say
her more devoted friends
but her closer friends or people
that have been involved with her longer
have I'm sure more air time
but I'll be involved also
but she was the
the first lady of wrestling
the first diva before that they knew
to say diva
and drew a ton of money
for a period of time there until they figured
well shit let's just get
18 million other women
in the business and just clutter it all up.
Well, also, look at what works for Missy.
What should we do?
I know, let's change everything.
Yeah.
All of a sudden, she's wearing evening gowns and she had class.
Like, that wasn't the character that got over.
When Vince brought her up and put her in a talk show, that wasn't the character that got over.
There was a very specific Missy Hyatt that got over.
Yeah.
And for a few years there, she was fantastic.
That was the very specific Missy Hyatt.
That was what got over.
if you tried to change her shit.
That's what Dundee said about me.
When they got me into business,
he told the boys that don't smart and cord out,
it'll kill his gimmick.
But they did the same thing with Tammy,
with Sonny.
Because as they both got to the bigger companies
and more attention,
they both were introduced
and got the attention as heels,
but to fucking people running the companies,
thought, well, they're so pretty and beautiful.
And the guys like to look at them.
We can't make them heels.
We'll make them baby faces.
And then that just destroyed the reason why they all had appeal.
But Missy Hyde at one point in Texas had as much heat as I ever got in Dallas, easily, if not more.
They just, they couldn't take as many swings at her, you know, because even the Texans didn't want to hit a woman, most of them.
but nevertheless, that'll be next week and we'll see what what she's been up to for the last.
Missy has had some, you know, different ventures over the past 20 or 30 years.
We'll see what this could be good.
This could be good.
What happens?
But you know, Brian, after watching an episode like, you know, the one on Paul Orndorf on Darkside, it's a little sad.
You might want to, you might want to relax, you might want to get an uplifting type of,
mood going on, maybe even euphoric to try to take your mind off things. And you don't want to,
you don't want to go out there and drink the demon rum. Don't want to be out there in one of
those hoochy-cochy places drinking the hoochy till you want the coochy, because that leads you to
regretful actions and, and potentially hangovers the next day. You want to stay away from the
alcohol. What are you going to do to get that euphoric buzz without the alcohol,
ladies gentlemen, I'll tell you what you're going to do. You're going to take a big old swig of
Willie's remedy because Willie has the tonic, the social tonic that will remedy all of your problems
and concerns. Let's say you just want to sit around with your friends after work and
you want to cuss the boss or you want to sit around with your friends after work and cuss your
wife or you want to sit around with your friends and cuss all the friends that ain't there
whatever it may be you want to drink some willies because that way you won't get drunk
you won't get a DUI you won't wake up the next day next to some will-de-beast where you want to
chew your left arm off of your goddamn shoulder to escape without waking the old
ogre up. You don't, you don't do any of these things. You know, this may not be the best
example we can use here, or the most relatable example for the listeners, of course,
sometimes just want to chill out at the end of the day, and who better to chill with than
Willie, Chili Willie? Yeah, Chili Willie. Because you know, it's,
Willys is a premium THC-infused social tonic crafted by the legendary.
Willie Nelson, and, you know, Willie knows how to have a good time and relax, and
this is inspired they say by willy's way of living where peace flows freely i thought for a minute
it just said pee if you drink enough of this pee will flow freely peace flows freely that's right
and the hangovers are a thing of the past much like willie's music that we can enjoy now for
forever he's still making music he still may still by god damn and drink some of this shit you'll be
able to sing like him there's only 15 calories and three grams of sugar that
at each fine dosage of this product, all of the fun with none of the regret.
They got five and ten milligram dose bottles.
They've got delicious blends of passion fruit, lemon and lime.
You can put it over ice.
You can put it in a shot glass.
You can drink it in a dirty glass.
Just have your own Willie's glass around, just a dirty shot glass like they used to do.
Back in the old West days when Willie still didn't have a beer.
and one shot's going to help you relax, unwind, and de-stress,
because that way you'll be drinking a shot of willies like the oil,
and then you could go have a shootout at the okay corral.
They at least would rinse out the shot glass in the old West.
With Doc Holland, no, it's more manly if it's dirty.
Who said this?
Didn't you ever watch a Western movie when you were a kid?
I've watched a lot of Westerns just recently.
There was no make sure to have a dirty shot glass.
Don't give me a clean one.
I'm more of a man.
Because Pete walked into the saloon, he'd say, I want a shot of rye and a dirty glass.
And one shot of this is going to help you relax, unwind, and de-stress.
And if the glass is dirty enough, potentially you'll bleed out.
And it's perfect, as I said, for taking the edge off after a long day, just as great for socializing.
It makes good company even better, Brian.
and here this gets to the root of the matter,
if you have to go home every day
or even on the weekends,
if you have to go out somewhere
where you've got shit company,
such as in-laws you don't like,
or fucking noisy, nagging, crumb-snatching kids,
or a loud, obnoxious wife
or neighbors that just won't leave you the fuck alone,
just goddamn take a bottle of this in a bathroom
and prepare yourself,
because if it makes good company even better,
it can make shit,
company fairly tolerable.
And isn't that all really what we're looking for?
I don't think I can have any better endorsement than that.
I agree with you.
For once, I'm on the same page as you.
Yes.
Willie's Remedy, folks, make the shit company fairly tolerable.
And it's right now the number one THC infused beverage in the United States,
over 350,000 happy customers,
one million plus bottles sold.
And those happy customers are their happy customers?
Are they're happy because they didn't punch their mother-in-a-law
in the fucking teeth like they wanted to?

punched your mother-in-law in the fucking teeth.
Aren't you supposed to go to dinner with your in-laws tonight?
Well, see, I don't never punch her in the teeth.
But you know what?
Then she wouldn't be able to chew and I'd spend less on dinner.
This is not the way to look at it.
Again, no violence, no anger.
No, no, you're not going to be violent on the remedy.
Enjoy the good life with Willie's remedy.

Willys!
Well, I tell you what, Brian, for the next section of the program, I think we need to have an uplifting buzz.
Okay, I, this past week on the AEW program this past Wednesday night, they were over
over in Las Vegas at the Pearl Theater.
And I was going to remark on one specific thing on this program.
One very egregious thing that I saw that I couldn't wait to talk about
because holy sh, I can't believe that this happened.
And then you sent me an email, make sure you watch so-and-so,
because I can't believe that this really happened.
As there's another segment.
And then there was yet.
a third segment that was pretty fucking awful.
And I come to find out now it's a controversy because Uncle Dave is saying, well, it was a
great segment, but the fans were weird.
It was a bad crowd.
So he blamed the fans for not liking the awfulness in another.
I said, oh, fuck it.
This show pretty much was a goddamn Chinese fire drill from start to finish.
So I don't know which one.
takes precedent anymore in the in the hierarchy of how people were talking about it but let's just
run down a few of the happenings and believe me they did need to be run down preferably with a
bread truck are we looking at the same thing that other people are looking at when they're talking
about how this television program here is just so swell the uncle daves of the of the world
Are they just, are they sitting them a different feed?
I think they are just willing to lap up anything that's given to them,
but also I think, and I've been saying this, the TVs don't matter.
The matches that are announced matter for the pay-per-view.
They could do anything good or bad on this show,
and they seemingly are headed one way every week,
and it won't do anything.
If we go based on the idea that their pay-per-view numbers are one,
are really being reported.
And they prove it.
Because you know what?
I mean, if we're going to go to the beginning of the show here,
when they switched from MJF and Ospre to Omega and Osprey,
or when they at least publicly revealed it,
I told you I actually thought it was a good idea.
I thought this was a dream match for those fans.
You get to finish a story.
He overcomes Omega, kicks out of the one-wing angel,
whatever you want to do.
Like, it's the end of a story.
story. They have fucked up this story. It is so stupid now. It didn't have to be stupid. You know,
like they stupided it up for no reason. They see it's so stupid. There's not even a word for it.
There's not a word for it. Stupid to the nth degree. But this promo, I agree the fans. At times it was
like a North Korean audience. But you also have to give them something. Not every fan.
wants to see just match, match, match, move, move, move.
And when you're doing promos, Will Osprey, this is now multiple times,
he may be the worst promo of any big star,
or big push star in a company in wrestling right now.
And think about the competition,
because that's some heavy, heavy competition.
Well, they started the program, and that's,
when he came out first, I wrote,
how will they make him look like a goof tonight?
Although I don't think they...
I do myself, Rob.
I do it myself.
I'll do it myself.
I'm up for the grind, bro.
He was back to talking quick,
and he sounds like a garbage disposal.
And he is trying to be personable and funny,
but he's not really funny,
and he laughs at his own shit before the people do.
And in some cases, most of them,
he's still waiting.
waiting for the people too.
And you miss chunks of it, not only because of his accent, but because of their audio in the ring,
which is strange, but he tried to be the personable baby face, and he talked about getting
a text from his mom while he was in Mexico that his granddad had passed away.
and I don't know if he'd have slowed down
and let the people in fucking Las Vegas
be able to understand it
and
and maybe done it in a different way
maybe if everything about this was different
it would have been good.
Maybe, but it was...
I guess is what I'm trying to say.
His awkward way of delivering this story
produced awkward silence from the thing.
Yes.
Many possibly felt bad for him,
not for his grandfather passed away,
but because he couldn't talk in a fucking coherent manner about it.
I don't know.
But nevertheless, he finally got to Kenny.
And it was all about who's going to pull the trigger.
Like they're dueling at 12 paces.
And, you know, which one's Alexander Hamilton?
And he did this, you know, well, I did this to prove that I would pull the trigger.
And now Kenny, when he saw this, he's going to,
Oh shit, Will's going to pull the trigger.
And then he called Kenny out, and the way he called Kenny out was kind of heelish,
but is Kenny supposed to be the heel?
Because Kitty is the incumbent champion, Kenny is the veteran.
He was totally being a video game heel in this promo here, Kenny.
Well, that's the thing is he came out.
Well, but first he called Kenny out, but they played Callie out, but they played Callis.
music and callus came out because callus said that he needed the perfect tool to exploit a eW and he
had it in kinney omega and i will agree that he had a tool when he had kitty omega and they won the
title in december of 2020 and they had an unmatched run until kenny made the error of thinking he could do it
without Don.
Despite the fact that Don, I don't know that he ever interfered any of the matches
and he didn't do any traditional manager shit.
And all of the people in Don Callis's group are always known for wanting to get out of it.
But that's why Don stabbed Kenny in the face and brought Osprey in, like what, three or
four years later.
And he was trying to explain all this and it became obvious that they not only haven't been
able to build a baby face without making the baby face a heel or bringing a baby face in
and making him, putting him in as a heel and then switched him for no reason.
It never made any sense.
This whole fucking, remember when Osprey came in, we said, why is he in the heel group?
He's a fucking bad.
The people love him.
And then he said, you know, Don, I'd like to leave.
Okay.
So then suddenly
Rocky and Trent and Doyle
attacked Osprey and started kicking a shit out of him.
But that's when Kenny's music played.
And he came out walking slowly,
as the announcer said, with no sense of urgency,
with a fake lead pipe.
And then he got in the ring and hit all the heels with it
in kind of a fakeish way that you wouldn't use a pipe.
And the heels bailed out.
And then Kenny draws back at Osprey, and Osprey flinches and falls back on his ass, like, oh shit.
And that's when the promo started.
And it's almost like he was potentially trying to rib me.
Because I always talk about his phone sex voice, and I swear to God, he delivered this like he should have asked Osprey, what are you wearing?
Did you hear that?
What was that?
It was a cadence that he doesn't always use,
but sometimes he uses it.
The whole way this went was really off.
And that may be why the fans sat on their ass.
I know they were said because at first Katie was going to hang him with a pipe
and Ospre was scared, but then Kenny said,
No, I warned you.
I warned you, Willie, about the heels.
and then he helped him up.
But after he did, I warned you about them,
and he helped him up,
and then said, I can't help you like this again.
It's just me and you.
But then Osprey said, well, thanks,
but I didn't ask for the help,
and I don't need the help.
Well, it looked like you needed the help
when they were kicking a shit out of you.
And then it,
but that's, as you said,
the people just fucking sat there.
And it went on for a while and it had already been confused up by the whole thing with Don and the family.
And then the way that Kenny delivered, it sounded like he needed to be on some kind of registry somewhere.
Hopefully not in Japan.
Not in Japan.
Apparently they don't have registries over there.
But this was the segment that apparently Uncle Dave blamed that no reaction.
on, well, the fans, it was a weird crowd, and they just, they weren't a good crowd.
So it was their fault that they didn't understand a guy with a voice like a garbage disposal,
try to be a stand-up comic, or job guys running into the ring for no reason, apparently,
just so that Kenny could come out and fucking attempt to pleasure himself verbally over the phone
in front of us.
there isn't a top guy in the business that needs promo help as much as Will Osprey does.
You talk about someone needing to be produced.
There are plenty of lower card people or mid-card people that do,
but most of the top guys and even gals get it figured out.
He can't wrap his head around how to do a promo or be concise.
Omega's a whole other problem.
Whatever?
Again, I go back to the idea,
whatever they think they're doing here,
none of this was necessary.
There was like a very easy, basic storyline
that would have excited their fans
just the same as whatever this was.
Can Osprey overcome Omega?
Last Generation versus New Generation.
Can Osprey win the biggest match
against the biggest star in AEW?
You know, if you go by the elite story, you know?
It's Kenny Omega.
Instead, it's this whole fucking convoluted thing
and thankfully osprey's trained with a real fighter that knows what he's doing because he was an
ineffective feckless putts i guess before uh but you said one thing about Kenny i believe that
this is really Kenny's personality from i've again i've heard nothing but from people who
have been around him for the last however many years he's a weird guy i believe that and i believe
he probably does say gosh darn
and heck and things like that
in his real life.
But Osprey is Osprey
one of those guys like they used to say about
Brad Armstrong, bless him.
That if he could just get his real
personality, Brad was so funny
and so entertaining to the guys
in the locker room and telling stories
and just being around him.
But he seemed like he wasn't
all the way comfortable
on camera and it just didn't seem to come
across in his interviews and there was element of truth in that.
I've never met Will Osprey.
I wonder if he's just this goddamn hilarious guy that you can't stop on to hang out with
and he's just a mile a minute with the fucking jokes and just an entertaining son of a bitch
and he gets out there and this is what you get.
But that's why they keep trying to let him or keep letting him try to be funny.
Or whatever he's trying to do.
Because the last time, he keeps trying to get pops for his personal life.
He tried to get a big pop for getting married and he didn't get one.
So then he told the audience that he fucked the shit out of his wife and left her covered in liquid.
We'll just say that.
Yes.
And they didn't react to that either.
And that was his idea, obviously.
No one said, hey, Will, you should say this.
Yeah.
And say this about your wife.
He loses the audience.
He doesn't know how to like just get to the point and do it well.
he talks he's trying he's trying to bring them in like i'm sure they're giving him you know
advice like yeah bring the people in with your family life and they're big moments or whatever
he just can't i yeah yeah but yeah that's that's uh that was that one so it was it was because
of the bad crowd though the crowd should have had better fucking ears to be able to hear properly
i mean that's the other thing even if they're even if you're going to
with the idea they were so into this, they have to listen to every word.
What was being said wasn't necessarily things that would actually get a pop.
I don't know.
The whole thing was, I feel like no one is producing this.
They, well, that's the thing that they have producers with a variety, a varying degree of power
and probably none of it particularly strong enough to pull a greasy string out of cat's ass.
But these guys come up with this shit in their heads and in their heads,
they're in a movie
in Moxley
the promos are gibberish
but he's in a movie
in his head
and he understands
that they understand
oh this is
to them this is deep shit
to us it's just not that deep
anyway moving on
meanwhile
the big show was on color
you think
that Tony Shimani's wife
wouldn't let him go
to fucking Vegas you think
or
Tony was there?
That's right.
Who was gone?
Taz and Nigel and who else?
All the other people that they normally have there.
Well, we haven't seen him in a long time.
Well,
thankfully they sat him in a table
where he was about even height with the two people next to him.
So that really helped.
They had to call in a jackhammer,
jackhammer a foot and a half out of the concrete floor
to get it down that low.
So they got a new tournament going on, Brian.
New tournament at AEW.
Try to help me wrap my head around this.
The Continental Challenge Cup.
This is not the Continental Title,
which is held by Dick the Boozer, John Moxley.
This is the Continental Cup.
And the guy that owns the Continental title is in the Continental Cup,
but it's not necessarily a given that he'll win the Continental Cup.
therefore after this the continental cup holder and the continental champion can still be two different people
but there's no interference allowed in these matches or you'll be fired that we've already covered that
we've covered that how you can just you can't just arbitrarily say that expect to ever get heat again
with a run in except on your promotion and there's no time limits oh joy the longer they go the better
They're going to have eight blind draw matches amongst 16 guys,
and then the eight winners will have four blind draw matches,
and the semifinals will be in Glasgow on August 26th,
and the finals will be at Wembley,
and the winner gets the Continental Cup
and will be the Continental Cup holder, I guess,
but it will still not be the Continental Champion.
Is this the way you're understanding this?
I mean, I think
It's a nine-man, blind manifold
There's a lot going on
Tony obviously
You know, I'm trying to look at it from Tony's perspective
I remember when I was a kid
I had my G.I. Joe Wrestling Federation
I kept buying G.I. Joes. I kept getting more G.I.
Joe's. Eventually, I felt an obligation to introduce more
titles because I just have so many fucking figures.
Tony hasn't really... And you can't hurt the figure's feelings.
That's right.
Tony has a roster that hasn't grown too much bigger than,
I mean, it's kind of been around the same size, it seems, for a while.
But another belt slash tournament,
there are other tournaments that don't produce belts.
This produces a cup.
He has a thing for this kind of stuff, and he likes booking it.
I think that's the big thing more than anything.
He thinks he has a knack for booking tournaments.
He enjoys booking tournaments.
He looks for any excuse to get a new belt or title or cup made so he could book another tournament.
And if you like endless matches with the usual people kicking out of every single thing in the last few minutes of a match, we're going to get a lot of that.
Well, look out, Glasgow.
Semifinals coming your way.
But before we can get to any of those matches, we had a three-way match, two to two to ten.
determined the number two entrant in the casino gauntlet match at Wembley Stadium,
the winner of which will get a shot at the world title.
Now, get that one out, okay?
I think so, yes.
Good job.
And that was, of course, MJF versus Nick Wayne versus Hong Kong Fouy.
So, by the way, MJF.
has his thigh taped up like Prince
Carus. So
either he's really
significantly injured
or else why's he's just milk and Tony
because he's like, fuck, let me try to do
as little of this as possible with these morons.
But I can't, if he's hurt that bad,
why are they putting him in this endless
bullshit?
Although he did... He did the minimal
amount. He did the minimal amount
and even said at the top, I'm going to let
these two twinks fight it out
that I'll take up the scraps, but
Nick Wayne is now a heel
asshole, at least he doesn't have
moop face so much as he did
before, but
again,
in the match with MJF and then
Bailey is just, it's ridiculous.
MJF is a top guy.
They're going to put him in with a
20-year-old underneath heel
and this insulting little hobgoblin.
But they had the twink match
where they thought they were in the video game
and some kids gymnastics
and then MJF would get in when necessary.
But after a while,
MJF beat Nick and he's the number two
entrant in the casino gauntlet.
And then he did a promo where he said,
where he said he's going to win at Wembley
and get the shot at the title of blah, blah, blah,
and then Andrade's music plays.
And people kind of got up like,
and MJF started laughing.
And so I happen to know that he didn't hear.
And he cut more promo about Kenny and Will and whatever
and then left.
The point is if he knows he wasn't there
and it wasn't a misdirection,
wasn't somebody else coming out. It wasn't any of those things. And it didn't interrupt his
promo in any meaningful fashion. Brian, who played the music on whose behalf and why? Obviously,
they're very wrestler-friendly sound guys in these companies. Andrade wasn't there, so he didn't
tell the guy to play it. M.J.F. to play a joke on everyone. Holy Christ.
well it just pissed him off that he wasn't there and then they're like well why did we make
this life choice to spend this much money anyhow so that that was that with mjf he's in the
thing oh joy again wembley just looks it's getting better by the day it's getting better all the
time. See, now I sound like light switch Jay White and David Finley with the accident. It's getting
better all the time. They had a tournament match for one of these tournaments. Jay White won it.
And then, I swear to God, I don't know what, again, they're even, last week they were in Mexico
and they had all the big matches,
so we had no interviews, promos,
and storyline stuff, as the kids say.
They just, a match, match, match.
This week they made up for it
by letting every boring motherfucker come out
in the company and drone on on a microphone.
At 9 o'clock,
Tony Chavani introduces Brodito
and Hang-Nail Page,
the new six-man tag team champions.
And they come out to the rig, and I started to fast forwarded because I don't care,
but suddenly there was Prince Nana and swerve out.
Why has swerve been out?
Was he hurt?
They were talking about swerves back, but they didn't remind me why swerve left.
I don't know.
Usually it's over creative things.
You never know what these kind of things.
Could be an injury, could be not happy with whatever the hell they're doing with him.
Who knows?
He just told Tony, you know, I need a vacation.
I've been working hard one day a week.
well swerve was gone and your gardeners just showed up didn't you yeah i'm on the helipad here in
bay route we have a lot of action here today hope you don't mind the noise
this is london these bastards oh god damn these these bastardidos so anyway so swerve comes out
and i swear did brian once i say this you're
you're not going to be able to unsee it or I know you're going to agree with me.
Is he now trying to act like Roman Raines with the slow deliberateness and the pauses and the
slow delivery and the trying to affect that everything revolves around him?
It feels like it, doesn't it?
Maybe a little bit.
He was also kind of dressed like Michael Jackson and bad.
But, no, I mean, I think Swerve definitely thinks.
a lot of swerve so it makes sense well he wondered why all of those three were in the ring
now that he he's had bad blood with all of them and they're friends now and he talked about
how he's beating all three of those guys brodie king and hang nail and old bandito and i wrote
a boring as roman and performance not as good so then swerve and page went back and forth and
Page's promos are, it's, he's the guy among most of them that's in a movie in his head.
He's memorized it, it's scripted, he tries to speak in an unnatural way, and very dramatically
and very humorlessly.
But then as they do that, then the music plays and here comes ricochet with his normal
two stooges, the Samoan guys, and.
several job guys.
I recognize Blake Christian
because of the weird hair,
beard, mustache thing he's got going on.
But those heels came out.
Jay Lethal was with them too.
Was that Jay Lethal?
Yeah.
What happened to his, he just, he has no,
no hair, no jacket, no oomph?
He was just standing there.
Oh, Christ.
Well, those heels came out, and they were trash talking the heels in the ring.
And I didn't really give a shit what the fuck was going on at that point, but it wouldn't stop.
And Rickashay's guys were saying they ought to be the six-man tag team champions.
And they demanded a rematch, even though there was six of them.
But they demanded a rematch.
but they told Swerve to get out
but Swerve faced them all down on the fucking stage
and then walked past them without doing anything
but called Rick O'Shea a bitch on the way out
and then hangnail in the ring said
well why don't you guys just goddamn
come on in here we'll fight you now
and they start to do it
and then ricochet says well we'll do it on our time
and everybody left
they had them six to three
I wrote this is so indie
it's just like everybody needs to get a chance to talk
yeah again another wonderful big build
big build to get to
uh...
Wembley Stadium
on the big build you're just sitting there
over there going can I figure out a way to sabotage
pull their spark plugs
pull the spark plugs on their mowers Brian
I feel like we keep having this discussion
where we agree that there are certain days and times that we will not come,
even if it does rain at this point a day and a half ago.
Come on.
Like, there's no reason.
But whatever.
It never been any reason.
My guys just skipped this week between the torrential rain and the excessive heat warning.
They said, we'll just see you next week.
I saw that all of Indiana was under a, was it a storm warning or is it a state of a
No, well, there were many storm warnings going on,
but a lot of Indiana is under some form of flood warning,
either flash flood warning,
extreme flood warning, whatever the stages of flood warnings are.
No, yesterday, I'm sorry, was it yet?
Yes, it was. No, it was day before. Well, it was day before yesterday.
Nevertheless, the people don't know.
So one day this week, we had,
severe thunderstorms that came from Chicago,
bypassed Louisville by like 20 miles,
and the west side of Louisville got zero rainfall.
The east side, where I am, got an inch and a half,
and a part of southern Indiana, just 40 miles to the north,
got seven inches of rain in one afternoon.
Wow.
So it was spread over that tight of period,
so all of that rain in Indiana and portions of Kentucky for a little while over toward Lexington,
but definitely up in Indiana, they've got flood warnings and streets underwater and water rescues
and all that kind of bullshit going on.
Well, the next match on AEW was very soggy as well, Brian.
This is the one I was wanting to talk about.
This is the one that I was waiting to mention.
the T&T title, Kevin Knight,
putting it on the line against our friend Chris Jericho.
Did you watch this match, Brian?
How could I not?
Kevin Knight's one of the top young stars there,
and Chris Jericho's here to put stars over
or make guys stars by putting him over,
and he's just looked great in the ring,
so I had to watch this.
Well, and here's the thing.
We, I kind of figure that something
happened because everybody thought
that Jericho was going to be going back to the
WWE and getting the Hall of Fame induction
and maybe a retirement match or whatever
on a big pay-per-view and then suddenly boom,
he's back at AEW after some time away.
I still think I don't even know if he picked the money
over the glory because Jericho,
to me at this point especially,
strikes me as a person who would like more glory over more money
when there was going to be money in both places.
I don't know we pontificated at the time that this happened.
Did Jericho still see himself as more of an active wrestler
and hold out for more money than the WWE was willing to pay him
to work a few times and go into Hall of Fame?
But some way or another, he screwed that deal up
and he's stuck in this la-la land.
and now he's got to prove that he's a good employee.
He's a baby face again, and he's going to put these young guys over
and show that he's, you know, a team player,
and he's still, you know, in the mix and all that stuff.
And good Lord, I don't, did you have anything to say about the match
before we get to the finish?
Because it was the same people doing the same things
that those people always do.
and I didn't see anything particularly
outstandingly good
or horribly rotten before we get
to the incident, the unpleasantness.
But, Brian, your
thoughts on the match at all?
Kevin Knight's really good. Kevin Knight's really talented,
really good. You worry about the lack
of personal production in AEW,
but he's really good, and obviously
they're pushing them really hard.
And I'll let you comment about the rest
because I think the rest kind of encapsulates the
Chris Jericho portion of the match.
I got to admit they got me stumped.
This is the first time, well, maybe not the first,
but one of the only times that I have not been able to figure out
what the fuck it was supposed to look like.
If they couldn't show it, I can't figure it out afterwards.
But what happened, ladies and gentlemen,
was Chris Jericho got his walls of Jericho
on Kevin Knight, the Boston Crabb,
Right in the middle of the ring, right?
Right in the middle of the ring.
And he's cranking on it, he's cranking on it.
And a referee's down checking to see if Kevin Knight wants to submit, wants to tap out.
And you know, Brian normally, well, not normally, but often in these things,
to add some drama, the guy that's in the hold will crawl and scratch and he'll work his way over
to where he's trying to just almost make the rope to get a break
and then the guy with the hold will drag him back out in the middle.
You've seen that one before numerous times, right?
Of course, yeah.
I've seen Jericho do it, yeah.
Yeah.
The thing is, bear in mind, ladies gentlemen,
that if the guy in his hold, Kevin Knight,
was going to crawl to try to get the ropes,
he'd be crawling with Jericho going backwards.
So with Jericho in the middle of the ring,
there's no reason for Jericho to move.
move forward from where he's at.
And so he's got to bus crab in the middle of the ring and the referee's down checking and
Don Callis runs around the ring and jumps up on the apron and is reaching in his pocket.
He's pulling the screwdriver out as the famous screwdriver with the fluorescent handle
that for some reason they decided that'll be the foreign object.
It won't be Sir Clement.
his umbrella or fucking Ken Ramey's cane or what street shoes or whatever it'll be well this manager
will have a screwdriver so as he's apparently he's jumping in the ring to stab Jericho in the
head with the screwdriver but Jericho sees him coming in ring and he screams at him and this was
the thing that made Twitter with the clip of Jericho screaming I couldn't hear every word but it's
like, don't come in a ring, motherfucker.
No!
No! No, no!
No, don't come in a ring!
And immediately,
and it's not like he's whispering
this or in some type of ventriloquism
not moving his lips.
It's like he's doing a fucking Tarzan yell.
You could see his mouth moving him.
And suddenly callus freezes
like he's been caught climbing in his fucking
girlfriend's window by her husband
and jumps back out of the ring
and puts the fucking
screwdriver back at his pocket
and at that point
that's when Jericho
in his own hold
having just
not only looked at the guy that was
trying to come in and stab him with a
screwdriver but have screamed at him
and scared him away
then proceeds to
slowly drag the guy
in the hold over to the
ropes where callus is
so the callus
can get back up on the apron,
pull the screwdriver out,
and stab Jericho in the head
without ever getting in the ring.
And in the process, everybody in the building
is going, why is he crawling over to
goddamn where the guy can stab him in the face?
I saw fan cam footage,
so it wasn't even just like how it looked on TV.
It looked even worse in the building.
Well, of course it did.
Because not only did Callis
telegraph what he was going to do,
but Jericho screamed at him loud enough
that everybody knew he was fucking up.
Because if we could hear it on the television,
the television,
if we could hear it on our screens,
I think the front row probably heard it as well
and probably several back from that.
But there's no explicable reason for him to have just
crawled with this guy and his clutches 10 feet forward
so that the guy that he just,
saw and
yelled at could have a free shot
and hold still
well he got stabs he with a fucking face
and then once he got stabbed
then Kevin Knight kicked him into balls
because you know just a simple stab in the face
ladies and gentlemen
with the way medical science
has made progressions
that's not what it used to be so after he stabbed
him in the face with a screwdriver
then he football kicked him
into balls and then hit him with a side slam one, two, three.
No, but I think maybe even, I don't know, Leo Nommelini or, you know, possibly Tutsmont
himself would have figured any one of those three, maybe the football kick in the balls or
the stabbing in the face or just your wrestling finish, might have been good enough.
So I don't even know how to ask you this question.
I know you'll understand what I'm saying, but how do you save something like this?
Once it breaks down that way, what can you do?
And should Jericho have just let it, whatever it was going to play out, even if it was fucked up, would be better than,
hey, look at this.
Hey, look at what's happening here.
And now I'm going to do a funny walkover to him.
How does this not happen?
I don't know how it went south because I assume everybody in the match knew what the finish was supposed to be.
And I would think that Jericho probably had to be the one to bless most everything because of his seniority.
So the finish would have made perfect sense and worked if when Jericho got the walls of Jericho on Kevin Knight,
that he had been near the ropes.
and that's how it may be they did a spot where Kevin Knight tried to boomerang him into ropes or whatever,
but instead he kicked out and had the legs or whatever the case.
But if he had turned and he was already there next to the ropes,
then the referee could have slid down on his stomach checking Kevin Knight for a tapout or a surrender.
and if he looked up, Jericho's body would be blocking the referee's view of Don Callis getting up on the apron and reached over the top rope and stabbing him.
So that would have worked.
But then if Jericho was in the goddamn walls, it's his own move and he knows the finish.
Why would he have been that far away?
Now that I'm saying this out loud, I'm wondering if he intended to get the walls.
and have night in some way escape,
but then go back into the walls
and Callis jumped the gun
based on him being in the walls.
Oh shit, that's my cue.
But then,
I sound like Perry Mason here in court,
but that doesn't explain
why after Jericho had chastised
and admonished Calus in front of the world
to get the fuck out of the rig.
Yeah.
But he then didn't go through.
with the spot that would have seen Kevin Knight get out of it and didn't get back into it and it'd be in the right place.
So that seems to take that supposition, Your Honor and ladies gentlemen of the jury, out of the equation.
So then one wonders, I don't know if I can, if you can kind of blame Don Callis because if it had been me.
and I knew that the finish was jump up on the apron and stab him in the fucking head,
I would say,
what the fuck?
I'd be looking at him like,
I'm over here now.
You know,
how the fuck am I?
Am I plastic man?
I'm going to reach you?
I don't know where exactly this fell apart.
Otherwise,
that if that was the finish,
Jericho got to hold in the wrong place,
and then nobody could figure out how to get at him.
I don't mean the hold.
I mean the situation.
I like too, before he started yelling, he kind of did like a little nod, like a little movement with his head, like, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
I know, I'm saying, get the fuck out of here, motherfucker.
I mean, there was, when I, as a matter of fact, it was, I believe, the night that I was auditioning for Bill Watts and didn't know it in Memphis, when I had been doing almost nothing and all of a sudden, Jared had me, at ringside in four different matches, interfering to the, the,
of title change of the world tag title from the fabulous ones
and them coming out and pile driving me later on
when I was managing the Bruce brothers, all that stuff.
But the deal was that, I believe it was that match that night.
The referee was supposed to be with the two illegal guys
and the baby face was supposed to have a small package on my guy.
And I was supposed to come in because I was the, you know,
junior assistant to Jimmy Hart and the.
first family at the time.
I had one of Jimmy's canes and I was going to hit the fucking baby face with the cane
and the small package would flip and I'd roll out and the referee turned to see it.
And the referee, as I recall, was Jerry Calhoun.
And I'm not trying to bury, somebody's going to call Calhoun and Sal cornet was buried in.
No, but he did the wrong thing.
Instead of going with the two illegal guys, he went down to count the small package.
and I've been doing this, you know, a year, right?
And I'm thinking, oh, fuck.
I had like one and a half seconds to figure out what I was going to do and do it.
And with the referee down there, the way that they were,
I literally slid under the bottom rope of the ring,
keeping myself on the other side of the small package pile from the referee.
jumped up, hit the fucking baby face in the back of the head with the end of the cane, landed,
and didn't even get up, just rolled to the right and was out under the bottom rope on the other side and down.
He legitimately never did fucking see me.
But to the entire goddamn Mid-South Coliseum, it looked like there was no fucking way that he could have missed me.
And they booed the shit out of it, right?
and but sometimes but the referee wasn't in the wrong place here because there was no he was where he was
supposed to be there was no reason to bump him and again even though Jericho was in a wrong place
for that at first if that was the finish he even if he was in the wrong place first he could
have had the guy get out of it got him back in it but he just I guess figured out of it
maybe at Jericho it was his fault because why else would he panic and make a rookie mistake
like just dragging the guy across the ring to meet his own doom well it was the most
viral clip AEW's had in a while oh it was viral all right it positively infected everybody
but that's uh that anyway i invite anyone backstage at AEW that night if anybody was
pointing any fingers or try to blame anybody else send in
the complaints and who you think the finger should be pointed at.
You know what?
The whole thing, Brian, they didn't concentrate.
They weren't focused.
That's what the problem is.
Lack of focus.
They had brain farts.
They're not concentrating.
They're not honing in.
They're not really just taking a good look at these things and making something
bring them from La La Land to reality.
They need something
to focus them down.
Maybe they need our friends at Ultra.
What do you think?
It would certainly help with some focus.
I don't know if you could use it in the ring,
but I certainly use it when I'm editing
helps me focus in, hone in on fine-tuning Jim's audio,
which always has so many problems.
You know, he...
Oh, come on now.
Just a careless, careless man.
He doesn't care about any of this.
What was the question?
You had a question, I forgot.
Yes, the question was,
the focus and the concentration and the
idea of being able to hone in on what you're doing and not make
these silly mistakes and these greenhorn
problems that they have, they would be able to focus.
And that's why the ultra pouches are instant focus in a pouch
and no nicotine.
So that's where people go wrong.
They have the pouches with the nicotine.
Well, then you're taking nicotine.
And it's detrimental to your work.
Did you know that, Brian?
You're a person that might work out every once in a while.
I work things out verbally.
It's a vasoconstrictor.
It narrows your blood vessels and restricts the oxygen delivery to the muscles.
That's what the nicotine does.
And it raises the cortisol,
which affects your recovery and leads to muscle breakdown.
That's why a lot of times you see people with chewing tobacco.
at the same time, they're just rolling down the street
because they have no control over their muscles anymore.
So they're just like the blob.
They're just rolling down the sidewalk.
Their muscles don't work.
A bizarre example.
But they're smoking and they're chewing tobacco.
Once again,
it looks like a balloon with a cigarette.
Once again, we're not talking about tobacco.
We're not talking about nicotine.
That's one of the great things.
We're talking about something else that's,
not that.
That's not that.
Ultra pouches are ideal for athletes,
runners, and health conscious people
because they're 100% nicotine-free,
instant focus, and energy boost
without the vaso-constriction.
That's the thing that's up in the lottery
over there on one of our other sponsors.
Oh, no, that was a velociraptor.
There's no crash.
There's no addiction that comes with nicotine
because they use
clinically proven
new tropics and adaptogens
to deliver immediate focus and smooth
energy that's going to last you
one or two hours, you just
pop a pouch in five minutes before
your run, workout,
or workday, and
you'll be feeling fine, and there's no
caffeine. That way, you
don't have to hang around the coffee pot
at work with all the hags
from the secretary pool
and all of those annoying
fuckwits that you don't
like to talk to anyway just to get a cup of coffee you can just go in the bathroom close the
stall door take one of these pouches speak to yourself for 15 or 20 minutes regain your sanity
and then go back out into goddamn general public this may not be the best example or the most
relatable um i said that before but it relates well 90% of the users of the ultra pouches saw
significant improvements in their overall focus levels a calm and steady floor
flow state focus.
You know when you get in the flow state, you're just like,
you're like water that flows.
You're just in a flow state where you're,
you're not rolling on the river.
You are the river.
And you're a big drip,
dripping from north to south,
because that's the way that water usually runs on the map.
You'll get enhanced memory.
You'll be able to remember things that elephants forgot.
And you'll remember all the nasty things
of people have done and said to you, and then you'll fester about it until the smooth energy that
you get enables you to have the energy to get up and make a list of the things you want to do
to get even. And then with the mood balance, you'll be all balanced out so you won't go off on a
tangent and you won't jump your plan. You'll calmly and coolly premeditate these things.
And then with zero nicotine and zero caffeine, your muscles will work better so you can go
and get even with these son of a bitchies.
In cool mint, winter green,
tropical watermelon or blue razz,
how can you do without it, Brian?
The ultimate guilt-free pouch.
Yeah.
That's right.
Delivering instant focus and mental clarity
and brevity without nicotine or caffeine.
New customers right now,
that's new, not nude.
If you're dressed or not dressed,
actually, if you take these when you're naked,
Oh, oh, forget about the oysters.
New customers, new N.E.W.
This could be an aphrodisiac.
Also, you'll focus on that fucking new customers can use the code JCE to get 15% off by going to take ultra.com.
That's take ultra.com.
15% off with the promo code JCE.
Tell them you heard about them here.

Can fly concentrate? Are you writing this down? You need to get the ultra pouches. You won't have to
write everything down. You'll be able to focus and remember. Take ultra.com. 15% off promo code JCE.
Stay away from the nicotine, caffeine. Get the mental clarity. Be able to answer the age old
question. What is the meaning of life? I'll tell you what the meaning of life is. It's the ability to
sell ultra pouches and get paid for it.
That's the meaning of life.
Once again, a great deal for the listeners.
I like them for editing.
Ultra Pouches, one final time, that promo code.
J-C-E.
Ultra!
Ultra!
Now back to Elite!
Well, they had Chris Stadlander against Viva Van.
They did that, and that was followed by a girls' tag match.
So there was a lot of...
I wish we still got the quarter.
hours. Because after that screwdriver screw up and then 20 minutes of girls matches, I'm thinking the
precipice came there. Because that was the last 30 plus minutes of the regulation time of the show.
Because we didn't get to our main event until they were already in the overrun. So, holy shit,
do you think anybody could have possibly made it through that death spiral to see jungle Jack Perry take on our friend Dick the Boozer?
I mean, it's a pretty big match, John Oxley, one of the bigger stars on that show.
And, of course, Jack Perry.
One of the smaller stars on that show.
Tiny are stars on that show, that's right.
Minute, positively microscopic.
How many synonyms can we come up with for Tiny?
Well, just the point is, you wouldn't think he would have a chance, but somehow it became another one of these matches where they just went a while and nothing could finish off the little guy.
Well, they've used him at a fairly high level, so he has some, I hate to use the word credibility built up with the audience, but when he comes out and he stands up on the ropes and he does the thing where he does the hook, flexes his muscle, he looks like.
like Polly Shore.
Think about that. If Polly Shore back in a day
was to just have stripped off his shirt on stage at the Laugh Factory
and just hit the fucking Hogan pose, would you see similarities?
Well, I think he would have been at the comedy store.
Same difference, except for, you know,
his mother owned the other place. You know what I'm saying.
Moxley came out to the ring through the pitch black
empty back of the arena.
You couldn't.
My TV's brand new now.
You know that.
I've talked about that.
Could they even have put like a goddamn lantern in the corner somewhere?
Could you tell what the fuck was happening back there?
My favorite thing is the members of the death riders that are systematically placed at different places in the stairwell.
Like no one, they're not all together.
Like, yeah, go get them.
Like one's heat.
and then one's a few steps down.
There's another one.
Like, what the hell is this?
Well, anyway, Moxley is the Continental champ,
but this is the tournament for the Continental Cup.
And it's another, they just signed Perry again,
and they're presenting him now as a baby face.
Instead of capitalizing, well, they tried to do that before
on him being just a little shit heel,
but that didn't really work either
because he tried to work like one of the road warriors.
but he turned on Tony con
yes
that's how hard they tried and it bob
yeah and it nothing
but now what fans were
making noise were for Moxley
who is the goddamn is the heel
and the guy with the heel group
and this
but the point is you told me to pay attention
to this match and once that I started
my God
you see what I mean
I wasn't saying like this is a great match
but I'm saying like I couldn't
take my eyes off what was happening, the fan reaction to it,
the way someone who certain fans rave about
can't do what typically was a simple thing in wrestling,
which was lay in your blows,
there was a lot here.
Well, they started out trying to wrestle,
lockups and headlocks, takeovers, but it was weak.
And I know somebody's going to look back and say,
oh, well, they chopped each other and bam, yeah, the,
Chops were hard, but the lockup was weak.
The mat wrestling was weak.
You've, look at Dory Funk Jr.
Next to, because we've just been talking about Dory,
next to the, it was weak.
And then they immediately go into,
they were jungle jack, went for a fucking dive,
but Moxley hit him with the elbow as he's coming through the ropes,
and he didn't potato him with the elbow,
but old jungle boy went face first down to the floor.
You're diving head first through the ropes out of the ring.
Somebody's going to hit you with an elbow in the face.
How does that change your trajectory to where you're not going to face plant?
So then old jungle boy was off camera forever and Moxley's in the ring wandering around
because then when they get a shot of Jungle Boy again, you see why,
because he's been there forever trying to figure out how to get color.
And when they get the close-up of him,
you see he gigged on opposite sides of his fucking head.
He's got a big long trickle of blood running from the left side of his head
and another one from the right side of his head.
How did a fucking elbow to the head cut him in two different places?
And then they fight on the floor and Moxley throws him through,
a table over the rail through a table for a break spot.
So now they came back and Moxley's the heel.
He's getting heat on him.
He'd had some decent color at that point on his head,
but Moxley got on him and gave him these cross faces,
alleged cross faces, but he wiped all the blood off his face.
And his gigs had dried up.
So Moxley, the heel gets on top of him and with his fingernails
digs in and he's knuckling
the gigs so he opened
one back up some but
how is this not
healish work and the people are cheering
for the guy that's gouging
the baby face is fucking open
wounds
and then
Moxley does the tough guy
routine in the movie that he's
in in his head that he envisions
himself
and
then Jungle Boy makes a
come back after this big ass whipping, but his comeback is three dives to the floor, a moon salt
off the top rope to the floor, and then an elbow drop off the top rope in the ring.
Two count.
The baby face has taken this ass whipping, and he gets an opportunity to come back on the heel.
And the first thing he does is take three dives to the floor on him that just push him.
Start beating the fuck out of this fucking guy.
Punch him in a fucking face, you idiot.
And a moonsault to the floor.
How is that a comeback for a baby face?
It's been waltzed across Texas by this vicious eel.
But it didn't work anyway, because Moxley kicked right out.
Then Moxley gave him a gotch pile driver.
It got a two count.
And then hit him with a fucking heck of a clothesline,
which old Jungle Boy took a nice bump
on and covered him.
One, two,
Jungle Boy forgot to kick out,
but the referee stopped,
and then he kicked out.
And then I'm thinking
Moxley just likes to do
finishes to this guy
because he bumps so nice
because he's just doing shit.
And then he gets on top
of him.
And he throws Moxley,
too many pronouns, pal.
Moxley throws vicious,
vicious blows, I tell you,
to Jungle Boy's wrists that were covering his head.
He's just flailing at the guy's head without making any contact with anything that would hurt anybody.
And then apparently the story was, I can hear, well, why don't you give it to me as Moxley would have,
where Moxley told Jungle Boy beforehand, and after I beat you for a while, you're so out, you just drop your hands.
Well, you just said it.
You were saying like Moxley says it.
I like yours even better.
I'm not going to say exactly what you just said.
I don't think that's...
Well, say other shit then.
Say other Moxley shit.
Hold on, I got to get into the Boxley zone.
I might use the Moxley on Demand.
This is going to be part of my new cameo service.
Moxley on demand.
There's banging outside.
People are making noise.
I'm still recording.
Dope.
It's dope.
Well, Ed, Ed, this dope.
he drops his hands and Moxley is
I'm trying to figure out how to describe this verbally
he's not throwing blow he is raising his arm
and swinging it down with force like he's going to hit the guy
but he's stopping completely
pulling the blow
right before he touches the guy
and there's a fucking
handheld floor camera
camera on him.
Right there.
Yep.
The view is unobstructed.
And it wasn't even like we make fun of weak punches.
It was an obvious attempt at pulling a blow to the point where it would be like something
you'd see somebody do in rehearsal where I'm going to swing like this and I'll stop just
before I hit or something.
But it was one of the more embarrassing things I've ever seen in my life in a ring that somebody
would do that.
And at that point, that's where the referee pulls Moxley off of Jungle Boy and goes down and starts checking Jungle Boy.
But he didn't stop the match. He's just checking to see if Jungle Boy can continue.
Moxley's a fake MMA fighter. So what he was trying to go for was these repeated blows from the mount until the referee pulls him off.
but we've already seen that he was completely faking trying to hit this guy to begin with.
There's no doubt.
There's no room for conversation that these were fake pulled blows that were done right in front of us.
And then the referee pulls Moxley away and starts asking Jungle Boy,
if he can continue after he has been not hit like that so many times.
but he doesn't stop the match so it's not MMA because if he pulls the guy off
and it doesn't stop the match,
isn't he just helping Jungle Boy?
No, can you imagine this in boxing or wrestling, amateur, any other sport?
You're beating a guy up too bad.
Get off of him and give him a chance to get back up and get his shit together
so he can fight back.
Where does that happen?
It doesn't.
So at that point, we ain't done, folks.
At that point, now that the referee is giving him a little respite,
Jungle Boy gets back up on his feet and slaps Moxley and gives Moxley the finger.
And then stands there and lets Moxley draw back and hit him again a number of times.
And he'll hit him and Jungle.
boy will sell it and then he'll look back at
Moxley and he'll hit him again and
young boy sell it, look back and yell
like ah!
And then put his forehead on Moxley.
You know the one thing he never tried to do?
Hit him fucking back!
Brian wins the last time of you or anybody you know
in your immediate social circle was in a
fucking fight with a guy where the strategy
was, I know what I'll do.
I'll let him punch the shit out of me
and I won't try to stop him and that'll scare
the hell out of him.
I've never seen that strategy.
in front of a
Well, it apparently worked here.
But the other thing is, here's
supposed to be the big baby face
making his comeback, I mean, a little baby face
against a big bad opponent,
the bloody baby face making his big comeback,
those fans didn't give a shit.
And they didn't believe for one second
that he was going to really win.
And they didn't want him to.
But he, after all of that,
that he let Boxley hit him a number of times,
then he made a comeback and got his snare traps.
submission hold, right? But Moxley didn't tap. He just, he got out of the hold. He just grabbed
Jungle Boy's hands and removed himself from the hold. And that's his best hold. That used to be
a saying when I first got in the business. The old timers would say, the kid would go up and say,
well, what's the finish? Hang on tell you, just go out and grab your best hold like we're
going to shoot, right? And the kid would be, oh, God. Well, he grabbed his best hold.
and Moxley took it off of himself.
And then he rolled him over and got the choke on Jungle Boy
and had the choke and Jungle Boy was fighting it.
So Moxley, again, right in front of a handheld video camera,
switched his grip.
And the announcers again made a, oh, he switched the grip.
Well, while he switched the grip, he showed him,
and all of us that it wasn't a real hold
and the Jungle Boy wasn't trying to get out.
He just let go of some shit.
Jungle Boy didn't move and then he got a different grip.
And then the referee called for the bell once he got the different grip.
And Moxley won.
And then not only did they shake hands,
but when they shook hands, Jungle Boy got down on his knees in front of Moxley
in the blowjob position.
Did you see it?
I watched it.
Yes, I saw it.
But then you're laughing, but are you like, I'm telling a lie?
Tell me when I'm telling lies, baby.
He dropped to his knees in front of Moxley.
In the blowjob position.
He was right there and was genuflecting at the guy that just busted him open,
he broke every rule in the book,
gouged at his open wounds, and then choked him out.
But then he shook hands with a guy,
and genuflected in front of him.
I'm not worthy.
And they just re-signed this fucking little clown
for however much longer.
They're going to have to pay him.
And he's already worthless.
And who's the goddamn baby face?
Which one of these?
Do we want to cheer for?
Moxley, his work looks fake as fuck
and none of it is logical or makes sense.
His promos.
Death Jitsu.
There you go.
promo's blithering gibberish because he's in the movie in his mind
he looks like the guy who pumps your septic tank
and they've pushed him to the moon because Tony apparently is intimidated by him
and is intense I mean he does look like a son of a bitch that some authorities
might need to be keeping an eye on in case he goes postal
but not in a wrestling ring just out in the neighborhood
running around Newport
and Jungle Boy
grovelled on his knees in front of him
so where does that put him
it's all about respect
but the big bad heel choke you out
until you're dead and then you respect me
now this
this match sucks
I'd want to pick up some kind of fucking stick
and come back and try again
with a little more armament but go ahead
now this match was terrible that's why I wanted you to watch it
the blows from Moxley
I always talk about how bad it looks
when he lays in the blows standing up,
like face to face with someone,
20 minutes into a match,
it'll just start exchanging blows.
And they don't look good.
This was to a downed opponent.
I think most wrestling fans
who watched wrestling could have laid it in
without killing Jack Perry.
Yeah, I don't think he would have damaged him
if he'd have done what everybody else
has ever done in history of wrestling.
But instead, he came up with his own way.
In his mind, did he think
that nobody was going to see that
or that there was going to be some kind of camera trick applied live?
I mean, the camera trick live was you watched it slowed down in real time
as it came towards Shaq Perry in a way that only screamed
he's trying to protect this young man.
Well, it wasn't even that he was trying to protect him.
It was like, like I said earlier,
something that you'd walk through like you'd make this motion,
but you wouldn't actually be doing it like you're going to do it
when you're really doing it.
and it wasn't meant to, there's people on all four sides,
but it wasn't even meant to fool anybody.
And then again, the big baby face comeback,
after all that, the big baby face comeback,
and the fans just sat there.
They didn't give a shit.
Well, anyway,
weird fans don't want to watch a little twink job guys
go fucking 20 minutes with a main eventer
going back and forth.
Weird fans.
What do you think Nick Wayne and Spitball thought
when MJF just came out and called them twinks?
because I'll tell you, if this was somebody else in the owner's chair instead of Tony
con, I would think there's got to be something going on with somebody that likes small,
young.
But Tony's not that way.
No, this is just the best of what was available on the Indies.
Well, this has been the best of what's available on the Jim Cornett experience today.
This is the best?
This is the best.
Well, it's all downhill from here, folks.
It's just the best today.
Something's going to happen between now and the time we do the drive-thru in two and a half days
that's just going to blow the roof off the whole wrestling industry.
Don't you agree?
I mean, crazy shit can't you agree?
Yeah, I think so.
I think so.
Please agree.
I agree.
Okay.
I hope.
Well, folks, that's the breaking news sound effect.
I didn't have time to get the real one.
I had the make-no, the teletype machine, AT&T, American telephone and telegraph.
Big news, this is London.
Something like, no.
I was going more with like a late-night BBC newsbreak.
Yeah, very late at night.
Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, children of all ages, since we completed the program
and the program was not ready to be distributed yet,
but we realized that SmackDown had happened.
So we're adding a second.
This is a lights out segment because a few things happened on SmackDown on August 14th,
and that just was over with just hours ago,
and we're sticking us in now, so we won't be late.
So this is a lights out segment,
and then we'll return you to the regular program.
right Brian last.
Right Brian last.
And of course we have to do this because once again a big smackdown.
And when I say big, I mean there were some people talking to each other and it was noteworthy.
Yes.
And also it turned out there may have been some matches, but we're not really going to focus on that.
Well, absolutely none of the wrestling matches were of any interest.
But the talking was, you know, very impactful talking.
And they were in the Boston Garden, an old WWF.
E, stronghold.
And I thought at first they didn't realize what they had,
what they had done because Aldous is in the ring
and he brings out Chelsea Green.
She just got hurt.
We didn't even talk about this on the previous part of the show.
As soon as she wins the fucking belt,
one of those green girls from NXT or two of them did a double team move to her.
and one of them landed on her fucking face
and broke her orbital socket.
Have they injured more than one person already?
I can't keep track of who does what to who
because it happens so often.
Well, the timing was pretty poor considering how popular Chelsea's been
and it was kind of peaking right when it happened.
Well, and they did good here because, like I said,
I thought they didn't realize what they had
and they were going to fuck it up,
but they swerved us in a good way.
Because Chelsea came out putting on the brave face,
no pun intended, her eye looks horrible,
but she had like the stiff upper lip kind of thing,
like I know I'm coming out here to get stripped.
And the people were chelsea, Chelsea.
And Aldous does the preamble.
You know, well, you've done great kid.
But I can.
can't let you compete. You're not medically
cleared. You got to broken face
and blah, blah, blah. And Chelsea's like, no, it's healing
already. They look
like her. I was about to fall
out of the socket. Please
don't do this. And
Nick said,
I need you
to relinquish the women's
title you can't defend it.
And that's when Chelsea
hopped in. I knew it was too good
to be true every time
because every time
something good happens to her, she gets hurt.
And so I knew every time
you just see me as comedy relief,
I'm never the champion
and the people are like,
you deserve it.
And she cut a fucking promo.
I've missed weddings and funerals.
I've broken bones.
I've had a cake in my face.
I've been tossed in a dumpster.
All for this moment.
And it came and I made it.
And then you want to dig it to you, son of a bit.
She didn't say son of a bitch.
But it was a great promo.
But then the thing is, she said,
this belt is mine until somebody takes it off of me.
And the people roared.
And then she took it off and handed it to all this.
And then she handed it to him.
I was like, why did she do that after she said that?
I know that's that the parts of this were good.
And there was a, most of it was good.
a couple things it was, but she started to walk out if she'd handed the belt to Aldus,
and Aldous said, and she had told him, I thought of all people you'd understand,
because you got to come out and prove something at SummerSlam to blah, blah, blah.
And as she's leaving, Alda says, Chelsea, wait.
And then he said, as general manager, I'm doing the right thing, but as a man,
I don't care about medical.
I'm going to give you 30 days to get better, get a face mask, whatever the case.
You got 30 days before you have to defend.
And I'm thinking that, you know, who was it?
Was it which one, animal or hawk had the orbital socket deal?
Animal.
It was animal.
Yeah.
And they did that when they did the weightlifting challenge with warlord and barbarian in Greensboro
and somehow they hit Animal with a goddamn, like a 300-pound barbell.
The Undertaker.
Remember the Undertaker had that mask?
The Undertaker had one who got to mask.
But depending on how it is, you can either have a mask or they, it's a fucking work.
If they remind the writers of that, they could have her schoolgirl somebody in 10 seconds
and a place would blow.
And that counts as a defense for 30 days and they could keep it alive like we used to when
Austin was hurt or whatever, you know, by having her on TV, but people are chasing her
trying to pin her down.
Anyway, so he said, I'll give you 30 days and the place blue and the fans loved it.
And then Gunther music plays.
And out comes Gunther and enough sob story.
And the fans are like, Chelsea, Chels, I'm thinking, are they going to do an angle with
Chelsea and Gunther?
Is he going to power bomb Chelsea?
see this is amazing. Yeah, that's, you know, but Gunther wanted to know why
Aldus pulled what he did at SummerSlam. You stuck, what was it? He said,
you stuck, you know, fucking Owens in my match and Aldous finally said, hey,
well, first he said, I'm here with Chelsea. And then Gunther could run down Chelsea's
SummerSlam, right? I wrestled both nights. You just climb a ladder.
Double duty, he called it. Double duty, yeah.
two days at a row.
And then, you know, as I said,
Gunther had insulted Chelsea and Chelsea
cut a promo on Gunther.
And what in Alda said,
I didn't add Owens to your match.
I added you to Owens' match.
And then finally, when Chelsea had pissed
Gunther off,
then he starts stalking Chelsea.
And I thought, well, what the fuck?
Here comes Matt Cardona
and slides in.
and Gunther says all the way from catering to the rescue
and the people laughed.
I mean, I know they've got to get a heat on Gunther,
but I'm worried about Chelsea here
because she's standing by quite a bit.
I'll get to it.
And the other thing was, too, that I found funny,
unlike any other time you see it,
and it worked here because it's the way it should have happened.
The heel didn't like run away or move.
move when Mac Cardona.
He said, what are you going to do?
Well, exactly.
He's like, I could call your girl every slur in the world and you could do nothing.
And finally he said something and Cardona jumped on Gunther and got a little weak offense in and they went to break.
And then, and I swear to God, I don't know what it is about Smackdown, but right as they were coming back,
my DVR just suddenly rebooted by itself,
and I missed the Gunther Alda's or Gunther Cardona,
much of the match, but I understand they didn't go long.
It didn't seem like.
Nor should they have.
It was kind of exactly what it was.
Nor should they.
Well, exactly, because people were saying,
oh, Aldous shouldn't go along with Gunther.
What they did was fine.
Cardona needed about five minutes or less.
But the fans were into it because it was a personal issue.
they didn't expect. It was new. It's fresh. And Gunther finally,
a couple power bombs in a Boston crab and Cardona tapped out. But as they
were scraping Cardona up, Chelsea's still out there. Out comes Nea Jackson, Lash Leroux.
And then Nia's cutting a promo. She sounds like Sable. It's so
robotic and monotone. And there's no feeling
in it. You know what I'm saying? It's just it's
it's sable just
like it's AI
but
Nia challenge a she wants the belt
but then
obviously Chelsea's not cleared
but Cardona's given her 30 days
but as they're menacing her
out comes Tiffy
and she gets in an awful
sloppy fight with the heels
but the heels start two on one and her.
And there's Chelsea standing there yelling, help, help.
And I can see the writers explaining to her,
well, everybody will understand you're not medically cleared.
Like that may mean something if you're working for a goddamn accounting firm.
Oh, he can't come to work.
He's got a sprained jiblet.
but in wrestling the baby face
as long as they're ambulatory
and not hooked up to machines
or strapped to a fucking backboard
they got to help don't they Brian
do you see what I'm saying
yeah
it left her just standing there yelling help
when this is the other baby face
that came to her rescue
so
she consoled Tiffany
after she got her fucking shit kicked out of her,
but it buried the two things,
they should have said,
or should have had, first of all,
not had, I'll say this in English,
not had Chelsea take the belt off and hand it to Aldus.
She should have tried to walk out with it.
And what's Nick going to do, wrestle a woman to the ground?
She should have said,
this is my belt until somebody takes it off me
and starts to walk out with it
and then Aldous calls her back.
See, they wanted that big dramatic moment
and I guess to them it wouldn't make sense
unless she was walking out with nothing
and then you get the big like,
like it's the fucking notebook or something.
Well, you know,
and the place popped.
He could still have said
on her way out, you may have the belt
but you're not the champion anymore,
something like that,
and she'd flip him off or whatever.
and then get halfway down.
And at Chelsea wait.
But secondly,
there should have some way Chelsea should have been prevented
from having to fucking stand there and scream help
when the person that came to her rescue was getting a shit kick.
Because, okay, let's say that you and me, Brian,
I got a bad knee.
I'm coming out of the doctor's office.
I'm on crutches.
And we're going to the car.
And suddenly, two people,
people just jump on you and start wailing on you.
Am I going to stand there and scream,
help, help, or am I going to hop over there and start swinging a crutch?
Right?
I figured you'd jump into an Uber and take off.
Well, no, I might come to think of it.
If I had the keys, which if I was going to get in a car, I probably would.
I'd jump in a fucking car and run the people over that are beating you up and to save everybody.
There's a track record of that.
I believe you.
You're a good friend.
You are a great friend.
I got to say.
There is somewhat of a track record.
of actions like that.
But anyway, but that was a, Chelsea was great here.
And they did the right thing.
Your thoughts on this matter.
Yeah, you know, that's the thing.
And it was that little tease at the beginning
that they were going to strip her.
And, you know, we just saw Ria Ripley get injured.
I mean, that was why they created the interim title.
Notice they've dropped interim now.
Yeah.
Which, you know, says something too about Ria Ripley, I guess.
But.
Well, not about her as a person,
but the injury.
The length of her recovery.
recovery period, yeah.
But, you know, the timing of Chelsea getting hurt is horrible.
And, you know, her promo, not to justify any, you know, outlaw mud show shit she's done,
and she's probably done a good amount, and she was on Lucha Underground.
She's done a lot.
The point is, she really is like a lifer, as opposed to a lot of these NXT girls that come up who,
what am I going to do after college?
I don't know.
Maybe I'll get drafted into the WWE.
So, you know, it is a person.
a personality, a story, a person, a character that the fans have gotten behind over the last
year and a half. Whenever she came back to WWE, even though they haven't treated her seriously,
they've given her time, and she certainly makes the best of every situation she's in.
So I think the idea that she would have to be stripped of the title, which you would think
would also mean disappear off TV, is bothersome. They don't need to get.
off TV. Like you said, this is where wrestling booking comes into play. Yeah. How do you keep
Steve Austin in the mix? How do you keep, not that she's Steve Austin, but same thing. How do you
keep the Chelsea Green character in the mix on Smackdown and make this part of the story
where people want the belt? People are mad at the GM because they can't get the belt now. People
are upset because, like you said, she's schoolgirl someone, not school boy, I guess it would be
schoolgirl. Yeah. Yeah, I think there's a lot that can be on. And, and, and, and,
And also at the same time, when the fans take to someone wrestling booking indicates that you feature them more prominently,
but if they disappear, that's why with Austin was so hot.
We had to figure out different ways, all ways to keep him on television without having him do things that physically he couldn't do.
But people didn't notice.
And it actually made him bigger if they concentrate on Chelsea's.
personality here and a blah, blah, blah, then while she's trying to avoid all these people
getting a hold of her while she's hurt and compromised, it'll get her over more.
If they'd stripped her, the fans would be mad at the promotion because they got what they wanted
and then that was taken away from them too, just like Chelsea. But now they feel for her
and they're happy that good things are happening. It's an interesting thought. The idea
if Steve Austin hadn't gotten hurt,
would everything have worked out the same way,
would it be as good as it was,
or did the injury,
was the injury the best thing that could have happened
for the television show
and for the on-air character of Steve Austin
to be developed and, you know, I mean, again,
I'm not calling Chelsea Green, Steve Austin,
but keep her in the mix, have her do stuff, people like her.
It's a, well, and this is a chance to right now,
not in two months or whatever,
but right now is the chance to get,
her over more and further before people forget about why they liked it to begin with.
Anyhow.
What do you think?
One last thing about all this, Gunther squashed Cardona as he should have.
And again, he mocked him as soon as he got in there.
It wasn't like, oh, my God, the baby face is coming to get me.
It was, what are you going to do?
What do you think they're going to do with Gunther now?
And are they teasing another Aldus thing?
Or is it just that Aldus is the GM again?
So Gunther is going to take it out on him.
but what do you think of all the Goonther?
Aldous stuff here.
I don't think they're going to bring it back necessarily
or if they did anytime soon,
but there still has to be tension
because Aldous is the GM again.
Guelther's on the brand.
They have history.
So naturally they're going to take advantage of that
by having them poking each other
whenever they get a chance.
But I don't think it's something they're building
to revisit in the ring.
And that's the thing with Gunther is right now.
Why did he come out and interrupt a girl's promo segment so that her husband could come out and he could beat him up?
It's because they don't really have any.
They just put some heat on Gunther.
They're not going to have a rematch with him in Cardona.
It's just to have him involved and put some heat on him without him having a strong
dedicated opponent to be having a program with right now.
So that's just kind of maintenance stuff for Gunther.
One last thing, it was kind of a missed opportunity, though.
They could have done something where Gunther was actually a toy collector,
and he was upset because some of the Cardona figures
that were turning yellow or developing mold.
That would have been interesting.
I mean, they actually should have an action figure on a pole match
and see whoever gets their own action figure off the pole first win.
Don't give them ideas, but there were a few other segments here on SmackDown to talk about.
Yes, there were.
And Kevin Owens and CM Punk at the 9 o'clock Eastern Hour came face to face.
Face to face, they faced each other.
And remember what I said last week about they're trying to both be baby faces.
And, well, they're not trying to both be baby faces.
They are both popular with people,
and they're trying to each present their argument like it is,
as you should,
like it's the truth,
it's the way they see it,
it's their side of things.
But the problem is there's no strong heel here to really start digging in
with snide remarks,
and then for the other baby face to really be able to fucking zing the guy
you know, it's two guys that the fans like making clouded, obscure references to what's gone on between them in the past,
and that Steen's friends who are never named don't like him or don't like punk.
And they're very excellent verbally, but punk is running away with this thing.
because Steen has the,
it's like in a high school debate thing.
If you get, you know,
a blind random chance,
you get the fucking
nay side of a goddamn slam dunk,
open and shut thing.
There's no debate about it.
Yes, I'm in favor of killing puppies.
Steen has this,
has the side that's impossible to tell
unless he mentions names
that he's not allowed to mention,
and talks about shit he's not allowed to talk about.
Do you see what I'm saying here, Brian?
Is it coming across?
I think punk's coming across is the bigger baby face here
because Steen's coming across almost like a complainer
because you can't follow what he's trying to say.
The problem is.
Yes, that's what I'm saying, is that punk is handling it great.
He's smirking.
He said, you're holding on to this shit from 20 years ago
that I yelled at you in the locker room.
and berated you in front of everybody.
And all Owens can say is it's the person you've been
and the things you've done to friends of mine.
My friends hate you and it pugs says,
be more specific.
Which friends of the,
it's like when Terry Funk jumped up in the NWA meeting,
when Vince Sr. was mad about the fucking magazine article
after wrote with the pictures of Lawler and Andre,
it said midget beats Andre,
because they said he won the match on count out or run.
whatever. And it was the match in Louisville. It was a fucking fictitious finish. Andre won on
disqualification. And Terry Fung said, why, Vince, who is the little midget that beat Andre?
Lawler and Jared are sitting in the back of the room sinking into the fucking chair.
He can't be more specific. He can't be. And Kevin says, well, you might think just three of them,
but every friend I have in wrestling hate you.
And, of course, punk says then being hated by losers
is the price I pay for not being one of them.
Which got a pop.
Which got a pop.
And then Steen has to dance, or Owens has to dance around.
And say, well, you came back and made amends with the locker room,
and now I'm the only one who doesn't like you.
He just said a minute ago, all of his friends in wrestling didn't like punk.
No, he said, he said his friends.
That's right.
doesn't have many friends in the back is what he's saying now, I guess.
Well, or that, that's what we're led to.
That's what I'm saying.
It's an unwinnable argument because they can't talk.
It's inside baseball.
The most, I hate, I can't say smart fans anymore.
Everybody's smart, allegedly.
But the most dedicated fans on the internet know who and what he's talking about,
but they want to hear some goddamn drama and name, name names and the
WWE fans who don't even know that AEW is around and we know that there's plenty of those,
they're like, what the fuck are they talking about? And why is Steen whining? And
Steen was doing some of the best stuff he's ever done right before he got hurt, promo wise and
with the matches and everything. And now he's a, you know, he's just whiny for vague reasons.
He says he'll never like punk because punk's a phony.
You had to come back here because you screwed up everywhere else.
But he couldn't say wherever else was.
One place.
Well, besides that, yeah, yeah, that's, it's not like the punk who went through a variety of promotions,
but also where is the goddamn logic?
You had to come work for Universal Studios because Monarch.
gram fired you.
Yeah, yeah, really.
That's what I'm saying. You had to come and work for the biggest promotion in the world because
other places fired you, but they would still take you here because it doesn't.
And Owens put his accomplishments over all he had done, and punk made fun of it.
Owens sounded desperate, searching for a reason not to like punk.
And punk is smirking at Owens and coming off like an adult who thinks,
that Owens is A, beneath him, and B, all wound up about trivial bullshit.
And in Owens, well, I demand you say to my face that I'm a fat indie slob on the wrong side of the guardrail.
And Polk said, is that what I think or what you think of yourself?
I'm like, God damn, just bury the body already.
Another pop from the audience for that one.
Yes.
Punk said I'm champion.
I got a locker room full of guys that want the belt.
I'm calling out Obafemi and I get endometriosis instead.
Look it up, kids.
Google it.
And Punk put him over a little bit.
Hey, you're a tough guy because he has to because he's a top guy in the WWE
and he would he would sound.
disingenuous and people, it wouldn't believe him.
If he didn't say you're a tough guy, you speak two languages.
But look at you, you're a guy who don't want to put in the work.
To be one percent, but look at the shape that punk has got in, by the way,
and his trainer put out, because he's on a sauce now, he's supposed to be straight edge.
His trainer put out the regimen he's on where he, they, they,
This is that high level fucking training shit
where you got to take your temperature
after you eat lunch and bullshit.
But that's the thing.
Punk doesn't,
he doesn't understand why everybody doesn't get obsessed
and fixated on shit as he does.
Whether he was fighting in the UFC,
he didn't win, but he's goddamn, I want to do it and he did it,
or whatever the fuck.
and I can identify to some aspects with that
because of the various things that I've been obsessed about
over the years.
But it's the same thing.
We told Owens to lose weight and ring of honor.
And instead suddenly that began,
oh, Cornyts out of touch,
doesn't know what the fans want
because he wants a guy to lose fucking weight.
Owens has always wanted, that's his weakness.
He's always wanted to be a wrestler.
He's very good at it.
He can talk his ass off, but he's never done anything in the past 20 years to make himself not look like shit.
And people will say, well, he got overlooking like shit.
Is that really what you want to say, bride?
You know, if you're Gordon Ramsey, do you want to say, by God, my food tastes like dog shit, but they eat it anyway?
No, you do not want to say that.
No, so anyway, so punk said, I see somebody didn't want to.
to put into work, I see wasted potential.
I see a tough guy, but he's a bum.
I evolve. I adapt.
Now we were getting a little pointed.
And Kevin had no comeback.
He said he thinks that punk really hates himself.
When he goes home and looks in the mirror,
you really hate yourself.
And I love myself.
And I wrote then, it's dragging.
I can't believe I said that with CM Punk and Kevin Owens in the ring.
It's dragging.
But again, it's like this weird.
I know that when you go home, you hate yourself
based on what, what?
Yes.
Like, nothing is being laid out.
It's just a guy.
He's a world champion.
He's got fuck you money.
He's got a hot wife and he's on TV all the time.
Why the, you know.
Yeah, it's this guy with grievances that he can't explain.
And the other guy standing or smirking it at him, explain it.
And he can't explain anything.
And everything punk hit him back with.
Work because it was all true.
When he said, do you even think you would have an opportunity here
if I hadn't left.
Would they be using you?
Man, that must have stung a little bit
because it's true.
So punk sees himself at Owens
stubborn from 20 years ago,
stubborn, loud, etc.
But Kevin's still the same guys
Kevin said, I should have punched you 20 years ago.
And punk said, do it now.
Kevin said, I'll do it next week in Toronto.
And there you go.
It is interesting.
Yeah.
You being someone who dealt with Owens, you know, not necessarily 20 years ago, but close,
he is still that same guy.
And with Punk, not saying he's perfect and not saying he doesn't still have his, uh,
feuds or whatever you want to call it or.
Picadillos.
Yeah.
But he certainly seems like a guy who, as he said it here, has evolved a great deal
from the angry young man he once was.
And that's the way life is supposed to work.
If I was Kevin Owens, I'd be an angry young man.
man, because I'd have told them, hey, you're going to bring me back after a year and a half
and put me at a world title program, give me some goddamn shit to say, or let me say my own
shit, because this tap dancing halfway saying something in vague terms, it's not working.
Well, clearly they're giving them the room to kind of work, not off a script, but off an outline
or thoughts and kind of develop it, but Owens is not bringing it.
Owens is coming across looking really bad because he can't explain anything.
He can't.
That's what I'm saying.
They don't have to tell all the goddamn truth.
Make some shit up.
Make some shit up that you can say on television.
Talk about some names that you can mention on TV.
You tried to feel up my wife's sister at a party, you son of a bitch.
I don't care.
but don't just argue about shit you can't tell us the details on.
And the thing I'm enjoying, too, is I think we're a week away from punk calling him
fatso.
And I don't think I've heard that on wrestling in a long time.
Fatso, and I'm hoping for that.
Oh, let me tell you something, fat boy.
And also, here's the thing.
Owens comes back after a year and a half.
He can't lose, but obviously it can't put the belt on him.
That would be insane.
Right now, I'm not saying he should never be the champion,
but there's no way he should beat punk right now.
So is somebody going to come out and make their grievances known against punk in this issue
and screw the whole thing up?
I don't know.
I think it's already screwed up.
What about you?
It's intriguing stuff.
Like you are waiting for something to happen and you're kind of trying to figure out
what exactly is happening.
There is some backstory that
there were things that happened 20-some-odd years ago,
but they're not really explained here
and clearly they're playing with it for the angle.
I'm looking forward to the match.
I want to see what they're going to do.
It's in Toronto.
Well, yeah, I think the match will be good.
That'll be more of that will be up to them
rather than whatever this promo business is.
But I'm a little let down.
I was really, I knew once we found that they were going to work together, I'm like, oh man, the promos are going to be the story here.
These guys don't even have to get physical, just the promos.
And I've really been let down by Owens.
I thought Owens would bring it better than this, and he hasn't so far.
Well, and again, I, you know, I have a history of criticizing him, and I don't want to do it needlessly or incorrectly.
I'm wondering if they've got 25 writers for this fucking fiasco, then
why can't they come up with something better for him to say?
And see, the thing is, I'm sure he could come up with better shit
for himself to say if it was left completely up to him.
But if it was completely up to him,
then wouldn't he be able to say, well,
you punched my friend Matt Jackson in the fucking face, you asshole.
Or is that, I mean, you know, so there's,
they're trying to appeal to the fans that know,
but they're not able to tell the fans that,
don't know and therein lies the problem with this tale.
There you go.
That's my bottom line.
Well, Jim, that was the big punk and Owen segment.
There was a tag title change.
We won't talk about that here because we didn't watch it,
but one more thing, and then we get the hell out of here.
Back to the show.
Well, that's the thing.
The main event was supposed to be Cody Rhodes and Sammy Zane
that was made based on an argument that they had,
and the winner would get the winner of,
punk and Owens next week.
And I knew something was up because the first Cody's entrance was first.
It started at 10 minutes to 10 Eastern,
and they did 30 seconds of it, went to a break.
So by the time they came back on,
they had like six minutes on the air,
and Sammy's music and entrance starts.
And I'm saying, how the fuck?
And they don't usually overrun Smackdown.
And then as soon as that happens,
comes into the ring from behind Cody
and gloms him and posts him
and Sammy is shocked
shocked I tell you
and Orton just
he gives the draping DDT
to Cody and starts
milking the RKO
and Cody foils that
but Orton gouges his eyes
and they go to the floor
and he hits Cody with the stairs
and leans the stairs on the desk
but they fight through the crowd
and did you notice
that Cody was able to hit Orton with a metal garbage can from the arena floor
with the cleanest garbage I've ever seen in it.
Unused white paper plates and unused white paper towels.
I didn't notice.
In a metal garbage can on the arena floor.
When's the last time you saw that?
The garbage can stood out.
I did not notice the garbage.
Well, they had to crumple some stuff up and throw it in there,
but they haven't had a metal garbage can on an arena floor since 1983.
Anyway, they walked, fought around the arena, came back to the ring.
Aldous and the agents were out there.
I made the note that it was going a little long.
And then Orton tried to hit Cody with a chair in the V of the stairs.
That sounds like a children's rhyme.
Orton tried to hit Cody with a chair in the V of the stairs,
and it gave him a dare that nevertheless,
he drew back but Cody kicked him in the balls and hit Randy with a chair and put Randy in the V
and Cody went to swing and the agents blocked it and then it was 10 o'clock and my DVR froze.
I don't know if anybody got up and did anything else or not.
No, that was pretty much the end.
The agents, which we've never seen them do, pulled Cody off and held him back.
Jason Jordan and DeVari, I think.
I didn't see any other agents on the show except for those two, funny.
enough. Well, they're making cuts, you know. But yeah, we've never seen that. Them actually
tackle someone or stop someone or hold them back from anything happening like that before.
Never seen that ever, but Cody was trying to get the payback, the comeback, the revenge for
what Randy had done to him right before WrestleMania and didn't happen, which gives him more
reason to be upset. Again, upset Cody is the best Cody.
Well, yes, because we always want Cody upset.
But anyhow, so that goes on.
The ill feelings continue.
All right, Smackdown.
That was Smackdown, and now we're going to return from where we began.
Let's go back to the outro.
No, we're not returning from where we began.
We're returning to before we began, so we're there where we are.
Let's return to the outro for the experience.
Let's go there right now.
In that case, as the cop once said to Vince McMahon, if you have no more questions, you're free to leave.
Brian, do you have any closing thoughts?
Stupid.
Just stupid.
Going fast.
No.
Sorry, you brought back some of my memories of it.
Yeah, the egg.
If I only had the egg, I could have bribed the cop with the egg.
It wasn't me driving.
It was some of the rocks egg.
No, we have a lot of fun on the drive-thru coming up, classic wrestling talk, modern wrestling talk, questions.
I know we are going to be returning to mid-south.
We've been going over that, so stay tuned to that.
We've got to do that soon.
The people have been demanding, I finished the last stampede
32 years after its initial run.
We're going to do that.
Yes, we are.
The stampede continues.
Stay tuned.
And otherwise, folks, until the drive-through and next week on the experience,
and we're going to be all over, all-in.
That's coming up shortly.
Until then, thank you, fuck you, and bye-bye, everybody.
