The midnight and the rock and roll
He's in a fight for wrestling soul
Using a racket and some mind control
He's Jim Connest
The keys to the future
Where today we are going to have nothing but fun
Because there's been too much sadness in wrestling lately
And so today we're going to have so much fun
They're going to have to wipe the smile off our faces
With a sledgehammer
Or a sandblaster
whichever tool you prefer.
And joining me,
the king of Black and Decker himself,
Hawaiian Brian, the podcasting line,
the king of the Arcadian Vanguard podcast network,
Mr. Co-Oost to you,
what are you a funny guy?
Are you funny?
The great Brian Last, everybody.
Aloha, Jim.
A pleasure to be here once again
for what you're promising to be a funny edition
of this show for once.
Well, it depends on how you,
for what? Hey, I just caught that.
It was a depth charge.
We're usually entertaining, if not outright comical, but today it depends on your definition of funny.
Because funny can be funny ha-ha or funny can be, well, that was really fucking weird.
And we're going to hit one of them because I've done no prep.
I have a stack of papers here.
I've got a giant list right here of things that I have to do.
jotted down that we should talk about, but I've put no order to this piece because it's just
been, it's been sad the past couple weeks around the wrestling business. And a different definition
of sad than usual, because usually wrestling is pretty sad these days. But, so I thought we
would just pick out some things at random. It's classic wrestling, a little bit of current stuff,
some current events,
ironic happenings,
things of that nature.
You could feel free to,
do you have a neighborhood newsletter
you'd like to read from Brian up there?
I know they got a neighborhood
circular online that you've told me about
where they warn you about the bears.
You left out desk drumming.
Well, I get excited.
And Jay Shark Nato has the nerve
to complain about my
my rhythmic desk drive.
I'm a, I'm a, I'm a,
I'm a,
I'm a,
the word rhythmic never, ever, ever came into it.
The word rhythmic never, ever, ever came into it.
It never was mentioned.
It was profanities.
Well, I mean, here's it.
What should I do?
Should I put some bubble wrap on the desk?
Because I, I make points and I'm animated.
I'm an animated type of person.
Almost cartoon.
How would you do with like one of those stress balls?
Like, instead of hitting something, you have something to squeeze.
they can't pop.
Well, what do you mean?
Like one of the pimples I used to have when I was 16?
I don't.
Squeezing isn't the same as actually striking something
with some level of violent intent.
I'll try to, I'll just ruffle my papers.
Do you think you'll get mad if I ruffle my papers?
No, no, no.
I think that's within fair game.
Show me your papers.
You know, we have,
And we've talked about this on the show before.
One of the most varied and unique audiences.
We have incredibly intelligent, informed listeners.
We have listeners that have been involved in major historic events
that they write us in, talk about from time to time.
We have just listeners that have been with us since the start,
like Charlie from Starkville or old John Fell in Baltimore,
still black and blue over that.
and some names that we recognize,
and they always have some good things to say.
And so we're going to share a few of the viewer mail comments
that we've had here recently,
because our friend Stuart Busby from over in Northampton, UK,
you remember Stuart,
and Stuart has three of the cutest little puppies
that he is,
and he sends me a picture of him with them every time
that he sends me an email.
and he is the one who sent me some dog treats and toys and sticks for Alfred and Buddy
a few weeks back and for my birthday he sent me not only a DVD which I have already started
watching but famous of not famous monsters but universal monsters these commemorative
coins in this little binder for friends.
Frankenstein and Dracula and the mummy, and sent Stace for her birthday a DVD and had also a
present in there from puppy treats for Buddy and Alfred, but he also enclosed a package for you,
Brian, and I have already addressed that to you and handed it off to Hotchka's Feather Bottom to mail,
and you're going to be getting a gift in the mail from Stewart imminently.
and I he didn't say what it was and I didn't ask but I think it's a clock because it was ticking.
So just be on the lookout for that.
I will be on the lookout.
Stewart's a fine fellow.
Is this his real name or is this one of your gimmick names?
No, this is a man's, why would you make up a name like that?
I don't know.
I don't know why you make up these names.
I don't make up names.
What are you accusing me?
you have what do you think I'm some kind of GOP lawmaker I make up names or confused names
he didn't make up names we'll talk about that in a minute but also I've mentioned in the
past by my buddy Theodore Hunsteiger and I mentioned his full name just because that's one of the
most goddamn awkward unwieldy names that I've ever had will never pass the name test for the
WWF title Theodore but he sent me
a postcard.
This is an actual vintage postcard
from here in Louisville from back into 60s
with a picture
of the old Courier Journal printing plant
that was a
fine example of such and such architecture.
I can't remember what it was, but it was a cool
fucking building
and they made postcards
of it. And that's across from where my dad worked.
That was the printing plant
were they the courier journal in the Louisville Times the afternoon paper
and the Sunday supplements and standard Gravira printing corporation worked out of
and it was one of the biggest printing plants at the time in the state
so I gave it it's an actual not a reproduction but authentic
and he a Theodore wrote us last year about he'd had a bunch of surgeries
but he said everything is healed he can walk
again and see pretty well out of one eye. But he can't hardly see to write and I can't hardly
see to read, so it took me a minute to get through this. But thank you, Theodore. And hold on here.
I got to send out a special message, Brian. This is from Jesse in Nashville. It's his brother,
says, 57th birthday coming up in October. And he would love a birthday shout out from both of us.
He asked if you would shout at Seth also.
Shout at Seth.
You're telling me to shout at stuff?
Steph, Steph?
Yes, he wants a shout out from both of us.
So if you'd shit out and shit out Seth or shout out,
whatever you just said, if you'd do that, shout at Seth.
I can't give that out for free.
No, no, no, no.
Well, see it, but it's okay because Seth and Jesse spent the first half of their lives
hating each other apparently.
And it's only in the last couple decades that they've managed to develop
relationships. So instead of wishing each other's standard happy birthday, would we basically
please tell Seth to go fuck yourself, Seth? That's what he wants. It would go a long way.
This is what Jesse says. It'd go a long way to helping him forget about this past year.
As his pool cleaning company went under, he lost 90% of the teeth in his mouth after 40 years
of chewing tobacco and hard drinking. And he was,
also moved to Tennessee this year because
he figured no one there would notice
one more old jobless, toothless
drunk. So would you
kindly raise an old man's spirits
by telling him to go fuck yourself
for his birthday? So Seth,
go fuck yourself.
What a tail.
Does he have one
of those two?
Fuck with all of his other problems
walking around with a fucking tail.
We heard from Nick
who wants us
to send Bob and Darlene
our well wishes because
apparently this was this past weekend
well this was two weeks ago now
from this date of this email
his dad suffered a near fatal heart attack
and his mother
almost had one while saving his father's life
because she gave him CPR
and saved his life
and then had to go to the ER herself
afterwards.
But they're both doing fine.
That's why it's on the fun show.
If they'd both croaked,
we wouldn't be reading this till next week.
But see,
we're trying to keep in the fucking...
I guess that's what we should...
Yes, they're on the men.
Thank you guys for the podcast,
he says, is they've been a great distraction
and please send Bob and Darlene your way.
Darlene?
I don't know.
I think I'd have to, if I were you,
I'd have to tell Bob next time you're on your own.
You almost kill me with that one.
Fuck.
just stand over him and say it looks like this time he ain't going to make it well let's see well oh
matt from boston this is a piece of good news in the the uplifting show we're doing today
he wrote to us quite a while back well he's matt from boston but he says now begrudgingly living
in iowa you do have our condolences there but he had written last
year his black lab Jude had passed away and we you know recognized him on the air but
now he's writing to thank me and thank us for a well thank me because i did it for the inspiration
because i mentioned buddy and alfie had joined the family here and he started hearing the stories
about him and he says on a whim i reached out to the breeders i'd received jude from
back home in Massachusetts and to my surprise they had just welcomed a new litter of Labradors
born the day after my birthday. I told my amazing partner Sarah and without hesitation,
she began planning a trip from our home in Iowa. Yes, you are right. Iowa is the middle of nowhere
all the way back to Massachusetts and we returned home with two beautiful lab sisters,
Eleanor and Rigby,
named in honor of Jude.
You see what they're doing there,
what they're going for.
Same period of the Beatles, too, so good job.
So, but nevertheless,
they are bringing them endless joy and,
see, I'm a joy bringer, Brian.
I bring joy to people.
Most people can't say,
on a wrestling podcast, and they spread
this much joy around.
What? You're laughing at me
because I'm spreading the joy.
Yes. It is the spreading of the joy that is causing the laughter because it's so joyous.
Well, yes, well, there you go. You're laughing because it's joyous. See, I proved my point.
Exactly.
All righty then. Before we go any further with the programming, I just want to make mention that my, I apologize to Tony Kahn.
unfortunately Tony has been unseated as the number two wrestling program on the airwaves in the United States of America, actually the world today,
because now Cornette's side of the ring on Vice Sports YouTube has replaced him in that.
The first episode is by the time you hear this, be right around $1 million, which is bigger than Tony's done on dynamite, his flagged.
program at quite some time and I've apologized Tony but I guess the thing is if you give
somebody a program where people are telling a story that you can half-ass understand it helps
but if I ever crack the WWE numbers yet maybe episode two because that's out by the time the
people hear this with Vince Russo went into WCW world title that may crack the WV
numbers but in the meantime i apologize tony for being the new number two wrestling program on the air
but we've always known that my numbers eventually eke past your numbers every day you know
with everything that we do but nevertheless every sunday at noon eastern a new episode while
they last because there's only eight of them it's a mini series folks but uh you can find that
there and those numbers will continue to go up while Tony's
well maybe he'll find some way you know the thing is when you're
when you're comparing the budget and or the production and or the people involved
I bet I'm still coming out ahead if we were just even but nevertheless
mine don't last as long as Tony's do you know what will last as long as Tony's do
that is the holiday sale at Cornett's collectibles because it's already started even though we haven't got to Halloween yet.
The holla, and I can't tell you how it's doing because as we sit here and record this,
it is mere hours away from the on sale, but by the time you hear this, it'll be afterwards.
But there are either going to be some things left or nothing left, one of the other.
But just in case, since we're doing the fun show and looking on the bright side,
at Jimcornat.com between now and Christmas,
not only can you get the portfolios of great wrestling legends
and Memphis wrestling legends that contain 11,
color 8 by 10s, remastered digitally from the original negatives
of these great wrestling stars.
You can also get sale prices on some of the other items.
Just for Christmas, the book Hooker by Luthez,
his autobiography, the reissue with added material,
from not only Scott Teal's Crowbar Press,
but the author, Kit Balman, 200-something pictures.
We have got a variety of things
from the last Bobby Eaton autographs.
Those are probably gone, I would say, by now.
Few things from the vault, all kinds of stuff
at Jim Cornett.com for Christmas.
And the Santa Corny figure on sale for 2995
so you can stuff somebody stocking.
But, Brian, you've seen my action figures, right?
In the beautiful clamshell case and et cetera,
you would have to have an awfully awkward shaped leg
to be able to stick one of these, I guess, in a stocking, wouldn't you?
I would think so.
Be a hard fit.
Well, you know, it depends on how stretchy the stocking is.
Are we talking a standard, like a nylon stocking?
to be a bank robber also, that would probably work.
But if it was a cloth stocking, maybe just stick it under somebody's tree at
Jimcornett.com.
Oh, well, we talked about this, and this has been on the news.
I don't want to go any further without mentioning it.
Brian, what's the difference between the Hawks and the Hawkeyes?
I saw this.
Obviously, one is a basketball team based out of Atlanta, and the other is not.
Well, it's a basketball team, but it's based out of a state about 750 miles or maybe a thousand miles away.
I'm not good on my Iowa geography, as I illustrated when we read that last email.
But for the folks around the world, there's a guy named Jack Smith that was named the special prosecutor
when Schittler incited the insurrection on our nation's capital on January 6, 2021 for the investigation.
they appointed this guy the prosecutor,
and he collected the evidence
that would have sent
this criminal piece of shit
to fucking jail for what he did.
However,
the idiot half of our country
reelected the criminal pig
before they could put it to trial,
and as a result, that point was kind of moot.
So now,
the Republicans at the behest of Schittler,
we ain't got any other problems,
problems. Well, the prices are under control. There's no wars going on. People are not protesting
various things in the streets. They are having the United States government investigate Jack Smith,
the special prosecutor, because he tried to put the guy in jail for what the guy did. So they had
the hearings and trying to prove that this guy is crooked. A senator from where is he?
he from?
God damn it.
Oh, I'm not sure.
I forgot.
His name is Schmidt.
I forgot the state he's from.
He's in a state of confusion right now.
He tried to get the guy into hearing on live television with the gotcha moment where they had gotten
text messages from this Jack Smith's staff that told that Jack Smith was in Atlanta, Georgia,
at an Atlanta Hawks basketball game
on this such and such date,
the very day after that that prosecutor in Georgia
admitted she was having an affair with the blah, blah, blah.
It's all part of this election conspiracy
where Donald Trump really won the 2020.
Just all their craziness.
And Jack Smith is looking at him like he's got a smoking turd
hanging out of his mouth,
I don't remember going to an Atlanta.
Hawks game in Atlanta. I wasn't in Atlanta. Well, sir, you've obviously just perjured yourself.
They put it up a placard. The guy put up a placard. He had one of his staffers hold up this thing,
and you could see Jack Smith's trying to read it, and they take it down. He's like, can you actually
put that back up? I've had a chance to read it. They wouldn't put it back up. Yeah, yeah.
No, you saw it. You saw enough of it. Look at the pretty monkey. Here's a badge over here.
And finally, he said, wait a me. He said, I went to a, a, you know,
of Iowa Hawkeyes game
when Caitlin Clark was played or whatever
and then one of the Democratic senators,
Amy Klobuchar, had to say yes.
Is the confusion coming from the fact
that the Atlanta Hawks NBA game or the Hawks
and the University of Iowa College is the Hawkeyes?
And the guy still wouldn't admit it.
He just, oh, I'm moving on.
And it made the news every week.
because the guy was a complete idiot.
And now they said they even warned him to check those texts because we don't exactly.
Oh, no.
We checked the NBA schedule like that's the only basketball team of any kind in the world.
And the only game, guess what, you stupid son of a bitch is this is what they do.
And there will still be these maggot, gullible suckers sucking from the teat of the
fucking right-wing lunatic.
media that say this guy, oh, he got that prosecutor, say they were weaponizing the government
to put our hero in jail. They're spending our time and our money on doing the trying to put
the guy in jail that was trying to put the guy that really needed to be in jail and jail.
And we wouldn't have any of the problems going on around the world today.
if Donald Trump was sitting on top of a goddamn stainless steel potty attached to the wall like he ought to be.
But in the meantime, Brian did you say, we've talked about the AI, the artificial intelligence.
Trump met with all of the AI companies and came out with a firm morally binding agreement that they won't bring an end to human civilization.
They didn't sign anything.
They didn't pass any laws.
What court does that hold up in?
Well, it's morally, that was actually the way that they described.
It's morally binding these billionaire criminal motherfuckers
promise that they won't end the world.
Pinky swear, do you believe that?
Do I believe what?
Do you believe anything that they say that they don't sign?
that is not passed into law.
No.
And the only reason that they are doing that is because they would,
oh, we got to beat China.
We got to beat China.
No, we have to make more money than China.
Is all they're worried about.
But potential end of humanity will be okay.
We can afford the bunker.
Morally binding.
Have you ever heard any public figures
announced that we got together with these
when they broke up the fucking
standard oil trust instead of signing the various Sherman antitrust acts and the various
things.
We got together with all the oil companies and they promised.
How does that work?
That's crazy.
Anyhow, what else is going on in the world these days?
Oh, speaking of all the political things, Brian, you can attest to this as far as exactly how it works,
but we have officially opted out of taking any advertising money directly on our ads that we can control from political advertising this season because they couldn't let us just check the box and say, yes, we will goddamn spread the word of all the good guys all day long, but we don't want any Schittler shit popping up.
and or people, you know, saying, join the Nazi party or whatever.
So we had to opt out of all of it to make sure that some of it didn't get in.
But now there's some things we can't control.
The election season is coming to an end, thankfully.
And with that, all of the election spending is coming to an end.
We opted for this season, for this election cycle, to not take political money for our programmatic ads.
and we bring this up, because every now and then we hear from people,
you'd be shocked what kind of ad I heard before your show.
If it's political, I would be, because it's not us.
Because there's nothing enabled that would allow any political ads at all on the show right now.
So if you're getting that, it's your podcast player or something else,
but it's not us.
And hopefully that answers that.
And there's stuff on YouTube we can't control either, to extents, is there not?
there's,
shit just pops up all over the place on that.
Oh,
you'll get competing ads like one after another,
like just like TV.
It's amazing.
But now I've noted I saw an ad today
because they're starting to run from him
because he's so unpopular with almost everybody now,
except for the core mark.
One of the guys that was running for office in Kentucky
in the primaries,
the Republican primary,
Andy Barr,
every single one of his commercials
against the people that he was fighting
was who could suck Donald Trump's dick
the hardest and the longest.
And that was basically the whole goddamn thing.
And now all of his ads for the general election
either have his cute little daughter
or just him standing there going
I don't agree with many of the things going on in the world
and I just want to work for Kentucky type of shit.
They're running from him now
because they know he's doomed him.
But we can't get too overconfident
because they've tried to steal the thing
with gerrymandering to benefit to Republicans
and rigging the districts
fucking with the mail-in voting
and try all this confusion about the non-existent,
non-citizens voting and by the hundreds of thousands,
which is complete bullshit,
and they get thrown out of every court.
So it can be close because they've still got their thumb on a scale.
But we should be able to hopefully restore some ability to do something about this motherfucker.
Because in two years,
we'll be begging Canada to fuck.
and take us as the southern province just to be able to feed the people.
Anyhow, moving along, Brian, an update from something we talked about last week
and we didn't get to see the culmination of it.
The big confrontation for the NXT championship between Grayson Waller and Mason Rook
did not happen.
and I'm hoping that maybe have you delved enough into this or has anybody even said
why it didn't happen because they do the interview on one week's television
on a Wednesday night or Tuesday night rather and by the next Tuesday they announced
Mason Rook is not medically cleared and will be out for the foreseeable future
and change the match
and how often do these guys wrestle?
How did he have a chance to get hurt in six days?
I don't know. There was a tweet that was put out by
WWNXT on September 29th, 5 p.m. on the button.
Breaking news from the WWE Performance Center.
Mason Rook is not medically cleared to compete tonight.
However, Grayson Waller will still defend the NXT Championship
tonight.
stay with WWE social media channels for any and all updates as this story develops
and nothing else developed.
There's no other updates that I have seen other than he wasn't medically cleared.
Well, I guess they train, but what?
I just, I don't know what to say.
I'm not even clowning on Mason Rook at this point.
I'm just like, my God, it's like no company can field a team because these guys are just
this is not sustainable for human beings.
If you had, if this was a team sport
where you just had 25 guys in helmets on the sidelines
or could just run interchangeable guys in,
then that might be one thing if you just,
you don't lose five or six a week to injury.
but they're personalities if you invest money
whether it's Mason Rook or anybody
and they're hurt more than they're not
because everybody's falling through the furniture
then that that damages business
can anybody get the idea that this
is not what this shit's supposed to be
and again we don't know what it is
so we don't know if it was an injury from something
he did or if it was, you know, a basic thing that led to something, he retweeted the
NXT tweet, Mason Rook, on Twitter, I'm sorry.
Sometimes life is cruel.
Every fiber of my being wanted to compete tonight, but unfortunately it is out of my control.
I promise, this is just a speed bump and not a roadblock with a little, I guess I Love
You hand emoji at the bottom, or it could be hook of more.
I don't know.
Or hook him.
That's the best line Bruce Pritchard ever had in his entire life.
When he was Brother Love and Jimmy Snooka just came back in 89 and he had Jimmy Snooka on.
So obviously it was a meeting of the minds.
And he asked Jimmy Snooka about the thing he would do when he would go to the top rope and lift his hands, the I love you.
And Jimmy explained to, you know, it's I love and you.
You know, each finger is supposed to be each word in his mind.
He goes, what do you think it is?
And Brother Love goes, hook him horns.
And I think you hear Vince on commentary go, hook him horns.
Yeah, I can imagine that also.
But anyway, Mason Rook, hope you get better.
So apparently it might have been a hernia from lifting his buffet plate.
There it is.
But we haven't got the final, final word on that.
We don't know anything.
And unfortunately, that means I can't not confirm that one either.
That one's a potential thing, too.
But we don't know.
See, that is a potential thing.
It just is just as.
as much potential as anything else.
But where we got?
You know, this brings up something.
I just was talking about the fact that the human body was not meant to be doing these
things and this is not what wrestling is supposed to be.
And I actually have had people commenting and I can't remember what else was we talked about
here recently.
they were comment on that and on Twitter.
Well,
wrestling isn't as dangerous now
as it was back in your day
with all the unprotected
chair shots to the head.
You're just trying to protect all your
buddies from the 80s.
Has it come to this, Brian,
where people
don't know any better than
basically to say that,
that they can
somehow be told
and believe that wrestling is not more dangerous now
that it was in the 70s or 80s
and that the chair shots to the head
that guys saw,
or did they just see the wrong share shots?
They just think this attitude era bullshit,
and ECW bullshit from 1994 to 1999 or whatever,
that that was the sum total of wrestling history
and that guys always legitimately
hit each other over the head with fucking chairs?
Is that what they think?
When I started tape trading, Fantastic's Midnights,
84 mid-south, the straightjacket angle
was such a big deal because you never saw
chair shots like that, ever.
No.
The contract signing, excuse me.
The contract signing, yes.
Straight Jacket was not a criminal express.
Well, it was the contract, but you're right.
Both these things can be true.
You were just had a couple things transposed.
we did it with the Fantastics in Mid-South at the contract signing,
and it was the straight jacket deal in WCW on TV.
In 88, that's right.
In 88.
And the point is, that was a personal agreement between two good, good friends,
Bobby Eaton and Bobby Fulton.
and that was I think that probably two times that Bobby Fulton went for that
it is and Bobby Fulton went for a lot but that was as you said because nobody saw anything
like that and truthfully and honestly that was the first time I saw a dented chair
you know in 84 that was the first time because you sometimes saw the wooden chair especially
the WWF in the 80s started doing
their brand of stuff, you would see the gimmicked
wooden chair, the big clubbed chair.
Because they were in the, they were in the ag hall
in Allentown and they still had wooden chairs
and shit. But even after that, like all of a sudden, Hogan
would run in with a giant wooden chair.
Where did you find that?
But you never saw chair shots like that before.
At least I don't know of any.
Exactly, but the point is
again, for somebody
says, I just find it because it's his
friends. This is the point.
This was a major.
angle to start a program on national television and two guys who were very, very good friends
agreed to do it. And Bobby Fulton agreed to take it because he knew that Bobby, besides fact he was going to hit him hard, was not going to hit him hard at a dangerous place. He wasn't going to, he he rung his bell and people goes, okay, that might have been a concussion. It might have been truthfully now with what we know. But he wasn't busted open.
didn't hit him in a face,
didn't hit him in the soft part of the back of the head.
They both knew exactly what they were going to do ahead of time,
and it was structured for one.
And people will go back and watch them both,
while Tommy Rogers got hit too.
Tommy's was more magic.
It was still there,
but there was more of the magic.
And that's the point that I'm trying to make,
is that for years and years,
guys use chairs in wrestling
it goes back to the slam bang western wrestling days
of the 30s right
and they figured out how to work with them
and you can go back in history up until the 80s
the territory days and you can see
some of the shittiest looking chair shots
you've ever been held Hulk Hogan was guilty of more
than I can think anybody else
but you also see shit that looked great
and it was basically
depending on who was taking it and who was swinging it
as to how good it looked
but the guys that knew what they were doing
knew what they were fucking doing
and then I figured out
in the
90s and O's, the late 90s and early O's,
from not only OVW but Ring of Honor,
but that people stopped on the Indies.
It was like everything else.
They were imitating what they had seen
without being taught by the guys that were doing it first
or knew how to do it, maybe,
and we're just kind of fucking figured it out,
and the chair shots got worse.
So what we did,
and ECW, you know, the fucking late 90s thing,
it's just full force in Paul's Mahoney bless him,
who's dead now, by the way, and I loved him.
I'm not making fun of him, but they started doing all that shit.
And Mick Foley, that's probably his worst contribution to the canon of the wrestling industry,
and I think he knows that.
but that wasn't the thing that you did until then
and then the indie guys started
oh this is a proof that we're tough and we're men and we're hardcore
whatever and then it blossomed
but the point is that we tried to in OVW we didn't try to
we did teach guys how to do it properly
and there was in Ring of Honor I've told his story but it's been a while
with Charlie Haas and Shelton Benjamin who came through that class.
I had them called a finish for him to do a fucking chair shot or whatever,
and I don't know whether it was some wrestling nerd potentially on the roster,
or not on the roster, but in the office, rather,
may have been the merchandise weasel or the office boy, who knows.
Oh, we can't do chair shot, headshots.
They've been outlawed and banned.
by who the federal government
the fuck's the matter with you
no they know how to do it we're going to teach these guys
how to take it nobody's going to get hurt
and there was such uproar then
I said we're going to do a goddamn angle around this
and I find them
$5,000 for hitting somebody over the head with a chair
which was so deadly and then they came out
and did it twice the next week and pulled out
10 grand in cash and paid it because they were heels
obviously
And because I was teaching, and the briscoes were involved.
And they both learned at that point how to take them and give them in a working way,
but I don't know if it stuck, but Haas and Benjamin were perfect.
But it was fun to watch the actual boys in the office go,
oh my God, you're going to kill it.
What the fuck?
It's a work.
How much of that was triggered by Chris Benoit, that change?
Again, possibly some, but we're not talking about doing any damage to anybody.
buddy's head. It's a work if you do it the proper way. It was the same thing as the goddamn
in TNA when I went down there and produced the short series of episodes for Jeff Jarrett before
he went away. And we hit Johnny Morrison over the head with a fucking board. What was Biggs
name? The guy with the big head named Big. What's his real name? God damn it. John
Gordon's friend. Gaborik.
call him
gabric
he was all
you can't do that
he's what
what we
you know the head shots
it's gimmicked
oh
I said
I cleared it
with Jeff
go talk to him
I don't think he talked
to Jeff
I don't care
and we
John Morrison was so brain
damaged by it
that after they broke it
over his fucking head
and he's laying there
I go down to the mat
to fucking
comfort him
and see
if he's dead and he looks up at me, he says,
good call on the board, Corny.
Because it's a fucking work,
but not if you just really do it.
So the point is,
you fucking idiots.
And I'm talking to the fans,
but probably some of the boys,
if you think
that it was more dangerous, I would
rather have anybody that I worked
with in the 80s,
except baby doll,
stiff as fuck.
Hit me over the head with a chair
then do any of the shit these guys are doing with anybody?
Having a 200 and some pound guy come off the top rope
while I'm standing on the floor with three flips
and elbow me in the fucking face,
or put me hopefully through a table
or potentially over the table just to the floor?
Or these goddamn people being set on fucking fire
and improvised explosive devices?
What the fuck is the matter with you, people?
Then there was an art to this.
It wasn't always right there in your face like, oh my God, my jaw has dropped.
I think that guy has brain damage.
But it was like, wow, he hit him with a chair and it's fucking wild of year going on.
And that's the point I was going to make again earlier if Bobby Fulton and Bobby Eaton
had done that same kind of chair shot the following week on television.
television.
Dusty would have fucking called him in and screamed at him.
What are you fucking doing?
Because the kind of chair shot you never saw him, that's why.
And then, well, maybe you never is once a year, once every couple of years out of a weekly
television show.
Holy shit.
And if the plus nobody else would want to take one like that, because they were all
professionals and knew they had to work the next day.
And not everybody had the luxury of Bobby Eat and Swing.
it. But otherwise, the majority of ones that you saw were quite acceptable.
We don't know what happened to Mason Rook.
We don't know what's going to do.
No, but what, oh, he was the topic ago.
But can you not just objection, not objectionably, objectively, it may be objectionable.
can you not just objectively look at one of these extravaganza ladder three-team table matches
and just a fucking street fight or a cage match or whatever just no disqualification match would be
that was a sellout crowd with double juice and whatever from the 80s
and say well shit i think those those guys back in the 80s almost died
there.
Can anybody say that?
I think usually when I see people critique that era in terms of health,
it's usually about the out-of-the-ring choices,
not necessarily getting hurt, doing stuff in the ring or anything.
And that's the, you know, that's the point.
You can control outside the ring, or hopefully most people can't.
What you can't control, even,
if you try is inside the ring.
There's where the risk lies.
So minimize the risk where, you know,
all right.
Anyhow,
where are we going?
I'll tell you where we're going.
You want to talk about Vince McMahon for a minute?
Sure.
Because apparently, I don't, go first.
Comments that I have on Vince McMahon
or comments that our old friend Kevin K,
the television executive, had about Vince McMahon.
Yeah, we have some audio to play.
I don't know what you want to do first,
because I don't know what you want to do.
We have audio here of Kevin K.
on the Ariel Helwani show talking about
when he was running TNN and then Spike
or was in programming.
I forget his exact position at that moment.
I think he was head of program.
But dealing with whatever that title is.
Yeah, but signing W.
and dealing with Vince McMahon,
then this clip has gone around
because it's another example of,
I don't know, what you want to call it,
unnecessary weirdo behavior
from the top of the food chain in WWE.
Yeah, with assisted gloating.
I guess you could say that.
Have you been following this?
Have you seen this clip?
Well, I haven't seen it,
but I can only imagine
that people are starting to tell these stories about Vince,
because that even
Ari Emanuel
that was a porn movie in the 70s, wasn't?
It's a series, right?
Possibly.
Could even later on
transfer to the small screen, but nevertheless,
they're starting to tell the stories about Vince
because it's kind of getting more obvious
that they're either not going to have to deal with Vince.
Vince is not a force, not a factor,
whatever new company he's set up to
keep himself busy.
Is it the, you know,
is it the office for old uncle Vince
or he can go to the office and work every day?
They're starting to tell stories.
I think more of these are going to come out.
And he, you can tell loved,
I've said that Vince,
and I'll talk more about this on the other side of these clips,
but Vince had that insecurity,
the inferiority complex,
the kid from the trailer park,
the abused child,
of always wanting more or bigger.
I need to run this thing.
He loved bragging to these executives.
You see what I'm saying,
he loved telling him stories about how successfully been
about how ruthless he had been when he fucking did it,
thinking that that kind of thing got him over with them
and it may have gone all the way over the hill
have gotten over and started to creep him out.
if that makes any sense, or just amuse them in some fashion.
I don't know. Again, Ari Emanuel said that Vince was his great friend and he really loved him,
and he was senile and sickly and needed the self-company and didn't understand what was happening.
I just wanted to tell stories.
Yeah, remind me not to be fucking good friends with Ari Emanuel.
If that's the way he talks about his fucking friends, yeah, he's drooling all over himself,
and he fucking nodded off at lunch.
Well, Kevin Kay, back to this, was on the Ariel Hawani show.
he's promoting that he's involved with the new Scott Coker MMA project, but I'm not certain.
Oh, boy.
Coker with a name like that.
But he has no ties to wrestling.
I guess the point is this is someone from a distance who dealt with the world of wrestling
and is probably happy that he's not doing it anymore.
Let's go to this.
Yes, people that don't now have to worry about Vince McMahon being in their life.
So ask the next guy, because I'm not going to be here.
And that's when I left to go to TNN, which CBS had just a...
acquired in the former CBS Viacom merger.
And we tried to reboot TNN, which didn't work.
The National Network.
The National Network.
I remember that.
It was the Nashville Network.
We made it the National Network.
You couldn't move the needle on it, no matter what we did, and we tried.
And then one day, Al Bhecht and I, who was my boss at Nick, and then my boss at TNN,
he said, we got to do something because this isn't going to work.
So we sat in a bar at the Sunset Marquis and cooked up Spike.
Basically, we said there's three networks for women.
There's no network for men.
There's ESPN, but that's sports only.
There's no entertainment network for men.
Let's pitch it.
And we went up to Mel Carmesan, who was CEO at the time, and we pitched it.
And we already had the WWF at the time.
And he said, I love it, do it.
And that was the beginning of Spike TV.
Wow, wow, wow.
Let's stop it for just one moment, because that's,
is interesting to hear, you know, this, not that it's not known, but the history of cable television,
the history of Spike TV, how it happened. And yeah, when WW went there was TN, the Nashville
network, and then it became the national network. And well, and the Nashville network had actually
been people in the wrestling business had pitched their various programs before, because
I can't tell you chapter and verse on who from the Jerry Jarrett's organization,
may have tried, but I'm pretty sure I heard they did.
And other different, back from the inception of the Nashville network,
because it seemed like, well, the old country music wrestling crossover,
that seems like we, oh, we could get TV, that old thing.
And it never happened.
And then when they had the kerfuffle before with USA and Vince and who was it,
I keep wanting to say Bonnie Bedelia,
who was a 70s act of Bonnie.
Bonnie Hammer.
Bonnie Hammer.
There you go.
I'm 65, folks.
I remember Bonnie Bedelia better than Bonnie Hammer.
Then they ended up on that.
Vince,
the most northern goddamn Yankee
fucking hated southern bullshit.
Now he's on what had been at one time
the Nashville network.
And we giggled about that.
And, but yeah, the Nashville network originally had even been pitched a number of times for wrestling,
and Vince the one it ends up on what it became.
Yeah, and then Spike Lee sued us.
Yes, I remember that.
Taking a step back for a moment, when TNN signs WWF, because I remember, they moved from USA to TN,
they were a big part of the rebrand to Spike.
Are you president of TN?
I wasn't president.
I was head of programming.
Okay.
Are you meeting with Vince and them?
Yes.
What was that like?
So I'll tell you a funny story about Vince.
So Jim Burns, who was our executive in charge of production of WWF at the time, said,
now that you're running this, you need to go meet Vince and pay your respects.
And I said, sure, when's the next show of Madison Square Garden?
He's like, no, no, they just did that one.
That's not for another year.
They do that once a year.
And I said, where am I going?
He said, Louisville.
So we went to Louisville.
Why Louisville?
That's where they're next.
Where they were.
Okay.
They were the next minute he was.
And we went to Louisville, and it was an amazing show.
I'd never been live to the WWF event.
It was spectacular.
And then they take me down into the boughs of the stadium to go meet Vince,
and there's a lineup of, you know, it's in a men's room,
and, you know, the stadium men's room, there's like 50 urinals.
Vince is at the very end, urinating.
And we're standing there, and I'm with a couple of the WWF guys and Jim,
and Vince is finished,
and he like zippers up his pants
and he walks straight at me
and he puts out of his hands.
Oh, my Godly, Vince.
What do you do?
Total power move.
I shook his hands.
Wow.
What are you going to do?
Oh, my.
Let me stop it there for a second.
Vince McMahon.
What year?
I was just trying to think back.
It was the early 2000s, correct?
I'm just wondering what year they started.
99, 2000?
Well, they took that spot from ECW,
so it would have been 2000, right?
Yeah, okay, well, they were at Freedom Hall then because the Yom Center wasn't a thing.
I think I know exactly where he walked into and got the pissy handshake.
But that was one of the, when WWF at that time shows were doing big in Louisville and Lexington for that few year period there.
And I can't believe that the guy just ends up here to meet Vince for the first.
time.
But, uh, and, and, and there's more, but to this specific story, what is that about?
Is that something where Vince would have, like, joked around with like Bruce or someone,
like, hey, bring him to me and I'm going to give him the piss hand?
Like, why would you do that to someone you have to be in a partnership with, which is the
relationship between the network and WWE?
I either, see, I don't know the particulars, because if they had warned him, the guy was coming
and he wasn't real fucking happy about the move, he may have done that.
or if he was pissed off about the way something had just happened
or somebody in one of the boys or the finish of the main event
and he's thinking about that, he may have legitimate, I don't know.
But it's just that what a fucking first impression.
Well, let's get some more from Kevin Kaye.
Not more piss.
Hopefully not on the Ariel Hawani show.
You think he does that on purpose?
I think so.
Man.
I think so.
I think it was just like, yeah, you know, I'm in charge.
Put it there, pal, that sort of thing, right?
Yeah, like, you'll do what I tell you.
Wow.
Yeah.
How would you describe working with him in that era?
I didn't get to work with him a lot.
I mostly worked with Kevin, who was the, you know, head of production.
Kevin Dunn.
Kevin Dunn, that's right.
I went to see Vince a couple of times up in Hartford.
I, you know, when the Rock left, we had 8 million viewers a week on TN, on Raw.
It was huge.
Yeah.
And then the rock left, and it dropped to five minutes.
So Albie, my boss looked at me and he goes, stop.
And they turned Austin heel, which I don't even know if the, are the TV people smart
enough to have been in on that, smart enough to know that that was losing rock wasn't as
important as that?
Or do you think that's a story that they never got to them?
Well, again, this may be after the fact.
They were on spike until 2005.
So there's a window there where if he's talking about after Austin's heel turn,
when they still had the rock and he was, you know, the singing rock and everything.
And then he was gone.
What is that?
2003, 2004, somewhere right in there, 2003, I think.
It was a steady decline, but we'll, without him time stamping this,
we'll give him the benefit of the doubt.
So what are you going to do about it?
And I said, I don't know.
I guess I have to go talk to Vince.
So I went up to Stanford where their offices are.
I went to see Vince.
And he kind of looked at me and he goes, what do you want?
Yeah.
And I said, well, ratings are down.
He goes, why do you think the ratings are down?
You know, Vince is tough.
And I said, well, because, I mean, I'm guessing because the rock left.
And he goes, oh, you're smart.
Wow.
He goes, and what do you think we're supposed to do about that?
And I said, well, I'm guessing, like, who's the next star?
And he goes, do you know how long it takes to build a star on the WWF?
And I was like, Vince, I don't.
How long?
And he goes, 10 years.
And I said, well, I have about 10 weeks.
Yeah.
Wow.
And he said, get out.
Wow, really?
Yeah.
But a little bit of like, don't waste my time, son.
Wow. And who are you to tell me, right?
Yeah, right? Exactly.
this person, this situation.
And well, and again,
sitting in meetings
with him, both,
not just production meetings with a general
attendance
of a lot of people, but, you know,
private stuff with me,
J.R. Bruce, whatever.
Vince,
when he was dealing with Bonnie Hammer
at USA, he would
sometimes, you know,
the old eye roll at, well,
Bonnie Hammer says this and that,
or what do you know but i've heard him speak to her on the phone and i've heard him speak about her
well she knows what she's doing type of thing very uh smart business woman whatever he never was
just dismissive or fuck her i don't know maybe you know did that happen later on when they
went back to usa but just in my experience it like you know he never he he
I didn't get the impression that he would have a hand her a piss covered hand to shake.
So I don't know what it.
See, this is at the period of time where I'm in OVW in Louisville.
I'm pretty sure that that switch happened right about that same time.
So I don't know whether he was particularly pissed at this network from the start or didn't like this guy or whatever.
ego was out of control because he had a stock, he had more money than he had ever dreamed of.
At this point in time, he had Ari Emanuel.
Ari Emanuel was the one who got them this deal.
I think that was his first deal with WWE.
But did they issue the stock before or after they had already been on TN?
I'm not sure it may have been slightly after, but again, I think the period of time he's talking
about is a few years after that.
Well, it does, well, let's finish the clip.
And I'll throw my thoughts in.
And, you know, and it took a couple of years, by the way.
I guess it was Stone Cold.
Maybe it was Stone Cold.
I don't remember who sort of was the next week's store.
John Cena.
Yeah.
And that took, but that took a minute.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, of course.
And by that time, they ended up going back to USA.
And their trip back to USA, is this too much about this?
I adore this.
Are you kidding me?
So their trip back to USA ended badly for us because we were trying to resign them,
but they had made the decision.
He had a really good relationship with Bonnie Hammer at USA.
Bonnie wanted it back.
He decided to go back, and they told us they were going back,
and they weren't going to stay with us.
And we were like, okay, there's nothing much we can do
because that's the decision you've made,
and we're sorry to see you go.
And Vince had the audience.
They gave out USA signs to the audience.
And in the weeks leading up to them leaving us
and going back to the USA,
they would get the audience to hold up U.S.
USA signs, USA, and chant, USA, USA, USA.
And I was like, you can't promote your move.
We've had a good relationship, like, what are you doing?
And so I called Kevin Dunn, and we had an argument.
He goes, you're just going to have to talk to Vince about it.
And I said, okay, you know, and, you know, I called Vince and he said, what are you going
to do about it?
And I said, well, if you keep doing that, I think I'm just going to, first thing I'm going to have to
is cut the audio.
And you don't want that.
And then the second thing is, if that doesn't stop, then I'm going to have to like go
dark. And he's like, you're not going to do that. And I did. Wow. And it didn't go well.
Wow. What happened? We cut the audio. We never got to the point that we had to go dark because after
that. But what he did was he was really angry about it, which I understand. But he sent the divas
into the ring the next week after that happened. And this is way too much. But he sent the
He was into the ring.
They crawled over the, you know, under the first rope.
And the shot was from behind, and they weren't wearing any panties.
Oh, dear.
So I was at home.
I wasn't there, but I was at home.
And, you know, it was a shot of 4D.
Hey, WWE Vault, put that on YouTube.
He was going to the ring and you could see.
He's trying to do it on purpose.
He's trying to.
Oh, it was absolutely on purpose.
Yeah, yeah.
And my phone rang and it was the head of standards and practices.
And she said, Kevin, are you seeing what I'm seeing?
And I was like, I am.
And she's like, that can never happen.
happen again. And so I called Kevin Dunn on the Monday after that and I said, Kevin, that can never
happen again. And he goes, well, Vince wants to talk to you then. And so I got on the phone with Vince
and he started screaming at me and telling me like, you know, what an idiot I was and all this stuff.
And I said, look, Vince, I just can't, I can't do that. That can't happen again. Like I don't
understand. You know what our standards. I don't know what your fucking standards are. They change
every day. Every time it happens, there's a different standard. And he goes, so tell me what your
standards are. I go, how about we start with no vaginas?
Wow.
Wow, really?
But we start with no vaginas.
Oh, did Ariel Hulwani do a letterment after that and say,
well, I know we can save vagina, but we can't throw the coffee.
Ariel Hulani's so excited about this, looks like he's playing with his vagina.
Hey!
Come on now.
No, he does a good job.
You should do a show.
Well, I,
maybe I'll call him up and offer to
wash his car or something.
But here's the thing.
This is what I'm thinking about Vince McMahon.
I had this epiphany
for some reason.
I don't even remember why it struck me.
But remember, I have talked about
where did this fucking insane human
come from when while I was there and what we'll now call Vince McMahon's boring years,
it was like having the fucking principal in the goddamn car with you or in the room when you're,
you know, goddamn, we've got to be on your toes and don't forget your tie except on casual
Friday.
You've heard all these stories from me, right?
Yeah.
And it just didn't make any sense with this fucking guy that's shitting on people's heads
in the fucking outer office and
whatever the fuck is going on.
I realized what the common denominator
was and walk through this
with me, Brian and listeners, if you
will, and see if this makes any sense.
We've heard stories in the 80s
that Vince was
drunk in the bars with the boys
and would take their finish
on the floor of the bar or whatever it was, right?
You've heard a few like that.
Well, a couple, one specific
time and I think one specific time
but then
you know there's been a couple stories
where Vince was allegedly drunk in the
hotel bar and
that's the
the Rita Chatterton
episode happened
in 84 or 85
and they were in Poughkeepsie I know
the building there in
86 but the building in
Poughkeepsie
was very near a few different
diners and there was a hotel
right next to the best so I can see
all these accessible
things there
and Vince was on the road
I think more
at house shows and
making trips in the 80s
so you hear stories of Vince
drinking or whatever
right but again no
just
lunatic goddamn
behavior like
in modern times but you heard
the stories of Vince being
while. And then I'm
there and that's after the trial, but
he's had the neck surgery,
he's wearing the neck brace and done the
fucking
Donahue show and he's
trying to be nice and they've hired
human relations
department people for the
office. And I
get the experience of Vince
McMahon being, you know, you could
laugh and have fun and he pushed people
in the pool.
And
Pat Patterson would have
have a ha-ha, pretending to be a gardener with the leaf blower or whatever the fuck,
but it was not somebody.
As I've said that you would ever dream that would act in the fashion that we've heard
in modern times.
And yes, he could be, you know, obviously a ruthless businessman and, you know,
fucking righteous about, oh, it's always everybody's against me and it's the other guy.
they've done this predatory business practices,
whatever shit like that,
but you never just heard him screaming at Bonnie Hammer
that she was an idiot.
And then, like you said,
not only with the stock sale,
and he becomes a billionaire
and they get a plane, a corporate jet,
where then more sordid tales have been told
of Vince's activities and proclivities.
and incivility.
And a lot of that shit still hasn't come out,
but there have been whispers about all sorts of stories
about him on that plane and behavior on that plane
and divas on that plane.
So those are still not out in public.
But, you know, the plane wasn't the only thing
it was going down.
But here is what I think
is the fucking trigger or the common denominator.
It was always in the 80,
it was always in the 80s you heard about when he was,
and see again in the 90s also,
he only went to television or Madison Square Guard,
almost no other shows.
And I was with him again at TV from,
you might leave the hotel at 10 o'clock in the morning,
if you had to drive an hour to the TV town,
or you had to be at 11 o'clock production meeting,
even if you had to walk across the street,
you don't get out of a pay-per-view until 11 o'clock.
Sometimes we're driving back from a raw,
taping to a hotel. He's not even, he's not back until one in the morning. And he's never late.
You also, you would hear these stories about Vince in modern times. He was always late. His people
would call his events running late. And the writers would sit there until past midnight before he'd
come in. This was the opposite of the 90s Vince that he was never late. You were looked at like you
just shit in his own bed if you were late.
And the meetings may go till midnight,
but they started in daylight.
So there was none of this, you know,
nocturnal behavior.
Here's the common denominator.
He was either away from Linda in the 80s
or they had already split up
and were not living together.
at whatever point in the 2000s that he began getting really fucking nuts.
And in between time, because if we got to his house at 9 o'clock on a Wednesday morning,
and especially in goddamn winter months, it would be stone, cold, dark, and he'd still be going,
and Linda would come home from the office.
And when she would peek in and give him the eye, like, let my,
people go, right?
Let these people be free for fuck's sake.
It's going on 12 hours.
That would be the thing that would break it up or whatever.
He had no opportunity to live a double life with her in the office regularly and in the same house.
And I bet you that once that is there any way that we can find out when was it her that moved her?
Did he move to an apartment in Manhattan first and she was still in the house?
And then they moved the house or whatever the fuck.
Is there any way we can find out when they quit coexisting in the same domicile
and therein you will trace the modern history of Vince's ridiculous behavior?
I bet you.
Does that make sense?
I think it makes some sense.
I guess another question that would be tied to that is when did Linda stop
working in the office.
When did she first run for a senator?
Whenever that was she, I think that's when she got out of the office, right?
I don't know.
Was she still actively in the office before that, right before that?
I don't know.
Well, again, somebody, but Brian Solomon, send out the Sala signal for Brian Solomon, who was
of integral part of everything that went right
and has no responsibility for the things that went wrong
during a certain period of time there in the 2000s in the WWE.
Maybe he can shed more light on this,
shed more light on Vince's darkness.
But I think during a period of time
where Linda was around to keep a fucking eye on him,
that he had to be a normal human being.
Well, thanks, Linda.
what have you done?
Why did you move him?
He was on his best behavioral with Linda around,
not with Stephanie around.
Isn't that interesting.
But, uh, yeah, I can't say that you're wrong.
I mean, I think, you know,
having Linda there probably balanced him in a lot of ways,
not that she wasn't involved in all the same evil scheming that he was.
Well, but business evil scheming, yes.
But not crazy mad billion.
I respect my authoritai.
Put the rockets out of business kind of stuff.
That's what I'm talking about.
Yes, yes.
Normal evil billionaire business shit.
Not wild, kinky fucking, you know, shiza videos.
I always think about there's a photo of him.
You know how WWF has or had the press photos for everybody.
They had like a white border around them for years.
You know what I'm talking about?
Mm-hmm.
The 8x10s.
You know, Vince McMahon had his also.
and there's one, I think it's in 95, it's after the trial.
He looks like he's off steroids because it's like the only time he ever looked tall and skinny
and his neck was skinny and he grew his hair into a different style for a brief period of time.
And his neck being skinny more accentuated his prominent Adams apple and he began to
look more like Vinny Lepton.
Yeah. And then he got gasped to the gills and never looked like that ever,
again, but it was the hair even, because he always had the same Vince McMahon hairstyle for
so many years until, I guess, after the hair match or whatever, but he looked different.
Well, think about this.
At that period of time, one would have to think that he might not know when he might ever
have to pass a steroid test himself being involved in the legalities of the thing.
So that, and then he may have looked at himself there and said, oh, my God, I've gone back
to fucking.
Eastern North Carolina or whatever,
I've got to change myself completely again.
And then all of the enhancements took over his brain.
He was like trying to present himself as harmless vince.
You know, it's just, it's a different look and a feel.
I mean, remember, he went to the cauliflower alley.
All of a sudden, they honored the entire McMahon family.
That's what Luthé said, I worked for your grandfather.
I worked for your father.
One day, I hope to work for you to Shane.
Obviously, that led to nothing of a disappointment.
For Shane, not for Lou.
When Vince McMahon, the first little bit of time post-trial where business is down,
and then when WCW starts beating him,
that's like the last time you see like a sane version of Vince ever again.
And then from there, it's just nonstop.
The pace of everything picks up, the money picks up, the stock, all the lead-up to the stock,
and then he gets a TV deal
and he's pissing on his hands
and shaking the hand
of the fucking executive.
Number one,
Linda lost.
However much money they spent,
I think it was against Blumenthal,
but I'm not sure.
It may have been against someone else at one point.
But that was like $40 million, right?
Well, one time, I think it may have been,
but they spent the time.
No, that was just the one run.
Yeah.
She ran twice and was rejected
by the Connecticut voters twice
categorically,
but they had a shot on stage
of the concession speech.
and it was Linda and all of her supporters.
And then in the corner in the back was Vince.
And that's when he had that little, like the little boy haircut.
Like he, it was really short and it was gray.
And you just see Vince crying, like sobbing uncontrollably in the back of the stage.
And is he saying, oh my God, $40 million.
I don't know if I ever saw him and Linda in the same room ever again after that.
Well, I think that.
I think that was, they may have stayed together for the sake of the campaign.
I believe that was shortly afterwards that she moved.
And then she eventually went to Florida, right, for quite some time.
I think she stole this.
But there was, you know, they were just simple people when I was there in their humble abode.
Just that crazy kids little place out in Greenwich and the gated community down the street
from director Ron Howard
that I've
probably I think when they sold it
that listed for only 10 or 12 million
and they had a place that they never went to
in Florida that Vince
he would take a vacation there for like a week
at holidays where he'd be on a phone every day doing business
they didn't have the apartment in Manhattan
and the fucking condo in Stanford
and the
I heard that Vince had the apartment in Manhattan for quite a while,
which may have been to get away from Linda, you know,
for important business meetings or whatever the fuck.
But then Linda just high-tailed it completely to Florida.
The condo in Stanford's still puzzling, you know.
Oh, I'm too tired to drive the Greenwich.
What?
It's right there.
No, I'm too tired to get my ass in a backseat of the limousine
and be driven to Greenwich.
Yeah, really.
Yeah.
Even though he used to fucking get in a limousine and be driven to in downtown Manhattan once a week to get his fucking air cut for $100, 30 years ago.
That's the big sign you're cheating always, you know, when it's like, honey, I'm working so hard.
I need an apartment near the office and I won't come home a couple nights a week.
It'll save me on this incredible eight-mile commute.
This commute is killing me.
You know, and by the way, I believe it.
If he said the merit parkway, I beg you know what?
I sympathize.
If I was you, I would drive as fast as I could on that parkway to get wherever you're going.
Sorry, I laugh about the plights of Vince McMahon.
Obviously, he's going through a lot.
Well, and we wish him all of what, how did this get started?
What do we wish him?
Were we furry him or getting when we started this topic?
Merry Christmas.
What do I wish him?
I wish he stay away from wrestling.
But it doesn't seem like.
that's a problem because I don't know what he's going to do other than you know Bruce feeding him
shit what's he going to do well that's that's the thing is I'll I'll say this and we'll wrap up
on Vince as I mentioned before I think maybe some more of these stories are going to come out
as these real world executives people normal business people because you heard this guy he's
he's in a normal world he's not used to any of this behavior which we find to amusing because
we know the people involved, but it's not to crazy as shit we've ever heard.
But to them, what the fuck?
Viginas!
They're going to start telling more of this because Vince is,
he's not an entity and he's not going to be.
With the comments that our Emmanuel has made and put out,
just elucidating us on how they feel,
Vince is not coming back in a prominent, if any, capacity in that company.
if he was going to do something in his new production company
of Main Street, Oak Street, Fifth Street.
14 and I.
The pig and whistle pub, whatever the fuck it is.
They've had time to shoot roots, right?
From the time he announced it, he's gathered his trusted executives around
so he can do what you call it there said.
Ari said he can sit and tell stories about the old days
and he can plan things and we'll do this and then we'll get an egg.
And he's paying executive salaries.
And I guess they're going to go out and fiddle around with some things.
And who wants to be the person that is the first major client for Vince McMahon?
after he's cleared up his head shit in case.
It just, and he's 80.
What is he now?
Is he 82 now?
How old is he now?
Hold on, I'll check.
Because I'm just saying, I think more people are going to talk because this is the first
time in Vince's life that he has not been a person that somebody in the world of wrestling
or television needed to be nervous about.
81.
And soon to be 82.
One would hope.
But the TV people never knew
and they might have to deal with them for this ratings
bonanza that they used to have.
And the wrestling people obviously never knew.
So, and regular business people,
that just uncover their stories at random.
them. They don't have, what's he going to do, sue him?
He wouldn't live to see the casework its way through the court.
It'd be funny if he sued Ari Emanuel for violating confidentiality.
Even before the WWE deal stuff, he was his agent.
Isn't there some sort of confidentiality there?
I'm not at liberty to reveal that.
In my talks with Ari, we weren't allowed to discuss the Vince case.
But you know what?
All this could have been avoided, Brian.
All this could have been avoided if just these people,
would have gotten a good night's sleep.
Because Brian, I think that's at the root of everything,
is that events just needed to get a good night's sleep
instead of laying awake at night
and dreaming up all this debauchery to get into
and see that when he was at home with Linda,
whether he was sleeping on a bag of rocks or not,
he had to be there, right?
But once he had a choice,
once he was all by his lonesome and his villain's lair,
and he said,
I could either lay down and get a good night's sleep, pal,
or I could go out and find some perverted activities to get involved in.
He chose the latter.
You know why, Brian, because he did not have a Helix mattress,
incredible as it may seem, for a billionaire.
He had not, because, you know, he thought sleep was the enemy,
no, Vince, you would have found out, sleep is your friend.
Why do you think he had to,
have all of those encounters in the office over a desk because he didn't have a good mattress.
And if he had had a helix mattress, Brian, he would have stayed in, tucked himself in with a teddy bear
and his nightcap and his night shirt. And he has been sucking on his thumb all night. But instead,
because he didn't have the helix mattress, he was running around town like a Batman super villain.
I'm telling you people, a helix mattress means all the difference in the world.
Because you know that they combine innovative technology with high quality materials to deliver comfort and support.
They will support you as well as comfort you.
If you've got a bad day, ladies gentlemen, you lay down in the helix mattress that's designed for comfort.
And you'll hear it whispering, pool baby, pull baby, you'll be better.
or if you want support, that Helix mattress will get off its fucking lazy ass and go out and get a job
and help bring some income in.
It's a good support that you can depend on for the family.
And they offer soft, medium and firm mattresses.
Some mattresses are soft.
They say, good night.
Others are medium.
They say, good night.
And others are firm.
They say, go to sleep.
No talking mattresses for the record.
well there's no talking back you can't talk back to them they don't listen and they've got a supported
a supportive hybrid design which you can choose to elevate with premium cooling options
i like the one that's got the ice chest built directly in where i can have my sprite where
when i'm sleeping i can just reach over and boom there it is pull it right out of the ice chest
pop the lid back down and go back to sleep and it's got a cup holder
So folks, right now.
Right now.
Let's go back to what the folks can do right now.
Well, right now, you can kiss my big, fat, white ass.
That's what you can do.
Or you could have a good night's sleep by going right now to helixsleep.com.
That's the place that you would go, helixleep.com.
And then you would use the promo code JCE,
and you're going to get 20% off sitewide,
and all these mattresses include the free shipping,
the seamless delivery,
the 120-night sleep trial,
if you get one of these,
and you can stay awake for 120 nights,
they will refund your money.
At least that's now,
that was the offer last month.
But I'm not sure.
I think some of those people might have passed away.
No one passed away,
and you will like the mattress you receive
with no reason to return it more.
than likely if I go based on my personal experience where we all love our Helix sleep mattresses.
It's just difficult to stay awake for four whole months straight to find out.
You know, that's what the trial part of it is.
It's kind of a trial.
And they've got the happy with Helix guarantee a risk-free customer-first experience,
ladies gentlemen, the most awarded mattress brand.
Find out why.
Tested and reviewed by experts all over the world.
who sleep for a living, ladies gentlemen,
who are professionals and are actually paid to sleep,
have reviewed this mattress and found it.
It's the best that you can get.
Helixleep.com slash JCE for 20% off.
It's amazing.
An amazing deal for a great mattress that we love, Helix Sleep.
Well, and then you wake up in a morning
and you hear one of these stories where apparently
some sorry gum bump and sack of snake feces
is crazier than a rainbow trout in a car wash.
And apparently the,
this week's trout is what did this guy,
Keanu Carver in Nxte.
I don't even think we've seen any of his matches,
but his real name's Kevin Robertson.
And he's made the news
looking for love in all the wrong places.
This is, I, we can go over the details here,
but I'd like to preface this by saying,
I think I said to you off air right before we started the program,
this guy, if he was some fucking guy
that corralled the shopping carts at Target or whatever,
just an anonymous unknown dipshit,
I can see how he might think that he might actually
be able to get away with acting like this.
But working for one of the more high-profile companies in the world in their official
training program, how to fuck did he think he was going to get away with acting like this?
Brainpower may not be his specialty, as you could tell from the stories that have come out
with this incident.
And I'm not too familiar with him either.
He's 27 years old, apparently.
been Keanu Carver, one of those great
NXT names in NXT for a while.
And, you know, it's kind of, before we even get to this,
I asked you off air, said, how often, if ever,
because in the past, obviously,
there weren't as many women involved with wrestling in wrestling.
Now it's almost 50-50, it seems like.
50, 50, yeah.
But did you ever have to deal with anything like this,
or even just the idea of a wrestler getting a protective order
against another wrestler
and obviously there's one incident
that you had to deal with.
Well, I've got an example which we will
come to at the end.
Don't let me forget as we get off on a tangent.
But in this specific happening,
the way this has happened, no,
I've not only never have,
but I don't think it ever,
and we'll open it up to the floor
if anybody can correct us,
has a member of a roster,
a wrestling company's roster,
ever gotten a restraining order
against another member of the fucking roster
while they were both on the same roster.
And we say that now,
thinking that one of these people
may not be on the roster for long,
but I don't think that's ever happened before.
How would you get,
if you work at fucking Ford,
how would you get a restraining order?
You've got to be on the other side
of the fucking assembly plant?
I don't, what, but nevertheless, I guess for the people who haven't heard about this who actually have lives and happiness, we said we were going to be happy today, so we're going to make fun of this guy for being an idiot.
Apparently he was seeing, of all people, Bianca Corelli, who is Ariana Grace, who I thought was a fucking rock or roll singer.
But that's Santino's daughter.
I haven't seen her since she was old enough to date.
But they were seeing each other, and she tried to break up with him,
and he has engaged in a series of various problematic and troubling behaviors,
which we will try to delve into here to the point where she had to file a petition for a,
what do they call it here, the actual, the actual,
title of the restraining order. Order of protection for this guy to stay away from her and not
contact him. And it's 500 feet and prohibits him having any contact with him. But how's this
going to fly? I mean, there can be cases of he said, she said, and you don't want to penalize
some. Remember, the guy that his girlfriend was another wrestler broke up with him and
sent out pictures of him acted like Hitler or somebody and
got him fired or something and
but this she has records here there's phone records there's text
records there's witnesses of things so
how to fuck to this guy I keep saying that but I'm just gobsmacked
and thus far I believe as we are recording they have not
made any firm move about his future although we could all assume
that they're not going to keep them, but
you know, I don't know, there's a lot of evidence that was,
from what I've read, contributed to this case.
There was a lot of evidence, so, I mean, it's going to be hard
to come back from this.
Oh, the information that's going around is
before they broke up, she said that he spat on her,
physically restrained her from leaving his house,
has threatened to kill her and her cats,
has grabbed me by my throat multiple times
woken me up by plugging my nose in my sleep.
What the fuck?
That's crazy.
That's fucking nuts.
He came to her house at 7 o'clock in the morning
one day in September,
allegedly intoxicated under the influence of drugs and or alcohol.
It came another time waiting at the door,
but apparently when she tried to
came home and tried to drive away from him.
He grabbed the car and said, I need help.
I've got drugs on me. And I saw cops.
And I've got no way to get home.
What in the fuck?
What the fuck is that?
Jesus.
He's circled her house.
He's called her a total of 25 times a day.
He comes at 2 o'clock in the morning.
And here the best one, she got video of him outside her apartment, making growling
noises and then knocking.
And then he passed out
by her front door.
And neighbors saw
him sleeping outside the door
and one of the tenants sent
a picture and an email to
the rental office showing his fucking
vagrant asleep
outside the door because she was like,
what the fuck is going on here in our
good Lord. And he called
her and, oh, she called
police on him when he wouldn't
go away. So then he left before they got there, but called her another 44 times in two hours.
But he did have something to say for him. Would you like to hear what he said for himself?
Oh, I didn't know he issued a statement. Yeah. Well, he tweeted. Well, that's a statement.
He tweeted, Brian. That's a state. That's an official statement in 2026.
When the story broke, he tweeted y'all, no, wide apostrophe LL.S. That's not even y'all. That's just
Oh, gone, G-O-N-E, sound dumb ash in a month.
You'll gone, sound dumb ash in a month.
That was one.
And fake-ass virtue signaling M-Fs, everything done in a dark to come light.
But then apparently he deleted the tweets.
But so Jim, I guess the first question is, do you think developmental should have a reading and writing course for wrestlers?
Well, I think this sounds more like it came down to the alleged drugs and alcohol.
It sounds like to me than the fucking literacy or lack thereof.
It will come to light. He's promising that at least.
She made, well, she made now leading statements.
She may have brought this on herself because she was leading him on.
She was texting him stuff like,
leave me alone.
Go the fuck away.
You need to stop.
See, he was getting mixed messages.
That's crazy.
Obviously, you're joking, and I feel I have to say that
because there are stupid people who will go,
Jim's on his side.
Jim's making fun of the ridiculousness of it.
I mean, she couldn't be more firm
and saying fuck off.
This guy.
I think she needed to try harder.
Oh, you need.
need to stop being crazy, please.
That was so she was even trying to be
polite about it.
I don't get it.
What?
A very pretty girl.
I mean, it's just crazy the idea that she'd be
hitting someone and it's just this complete lunatic.
Well, and this guy,
I mean, one would think this might be
one of the better jobs
that he might get. What is his back
a play defensive tackle at Temple
University?
Signed with WWW.
he had made the ACC
all academic team
he had also played at
Fullerton College in California
point is there's not people lined up to throw
money and flowers at this guy to begin with
and he does this with a co-worker
see this
this is why I was astonished
not only that so many of the guys and girls
started getting together but that I heard that
it was encouraged with the office for the guys instead of going out and messing with the fans
to mess with the girls in the locker room.
I'm like, what the fuck?
You only have to go to Des Moines once a year.
You got to see these people every fucking day.
I don't, I don't understand.
And the point is also, guys, don't be creepy weirdos.
That's never a way to win a woman back.
especially not for the long term.
Well, no, this didn't sound like he had a good solid plan
to start on how he was going to win back her affections.
Jeez.
With this line of work here.
Don't go to sleep on the girl you're trying to win back's doorstep.
That's never really a good idea.
Just everything about this guy's plan seems to be,
or a lack of plan, I guess.
Crazy.
But here's what, if anybody's...
How do they not cut them?
Well, yeah, because...
Well, that's what I was going to say if there is no way that they probably won't,
and I don't see how they would have a legal issue if they did,
because there's, you know, the morals clause or the sanity clause or whatever in the contracts.
But for people who might say that, well, they're taking the girl's word besides the fact,
there's obviously phone and text records and shit, this shows, even if it's in his
private life, his personal business, whatever, and he apologizes.
It shows that he has very, very, very poor decision-making skills.
And does this worldwide company want to send him out to a variety of cities on the road
or possibly Saudi Arabia?
Send him there.
Send him there.
No, but this is what I'm saying.
Do they want to?
where he's potentially going to feel
somehow wronged and act out in this fashion
and get more fucking news on T because this is on TMZ.
Is it like in the goddamn, you know,
Weasel's world, it's on TMZ?
I think the story was broken by post wrestling
and Brandon Thurston and those guys over there
so they deserve to get credit for breaking the story
if you want to say credits deserved here, but.
Yes, but I'm saying that the office
can also say, well, those wrestling sites, they'll say, but the TMZ, they don't like bad
stuff on TMZ.
No, and they probably don't like orders of protection.
You know, filed against their talent.
I'm sure there's a lot like.
Wait, but when they're doing drills, they've got all those rings set up in the warehouse.
How far apart are they?
Is there one 500 feet from the other one?
Well, they've removed him from television, although, you know, it's only one episode, and I can't
imagine they're going to bring him back, unless.
this entire story fell apart and how could it if she had all this evidence?
I don't see how they could possibly bring him back.
It's crazy, though.
You know, again, it's, unfortunately, I'm sure we'll probably see more of this in the future.
When you have a lunatic's around a bunch of good-looking women,
and they're all willing to date the lunatics.
I thought you were all, they were all willing to date to good-looking women.
You know, I think, you know, unfortunately, this is a problem.
But don't be a creep, don't be a creep, guys.
Don't be a creep.
Don't be a creep.
Do not creep around.
Well, speaking of creeps and lunatics, why don't we talk about Uncle Dave for a minute?
Because he apparently has emanated the latest star ratings that we now, the fans, the fans, the
The listeners, the sick and the shut-in out there across America that can't get out to our live
shows to listen to us here on the broadcast.
They all love it when we tell them how much Dave has praised his friends and coworkers in some
instances.
And they're off the charts again, I think, aren't they?
They've got to be because he's been on a role here lately.
He loves AEW.
And I think he's embarrassed to just.
come out and say the truth, and I think it becomes a scandal because everyone accuses him
of it, because he just denies it, but he loves fucking AEW. And you're not going to put it down,
and you're not going to criticize the booking or anything else. So obviously, the style of matches
we saw right into his wheelhouse. Flywheel, wheelhouse, and I was, even I am willing to
admit that the host is Twinkie doesn't taste like it used to. But he,
He just, he won't crack.
Well, let's go to the star ratings here in the Wrestling Observer newsletter for all out in Chicago, or right outside of Chicago.
Chicago Land, as we'll call it here, pre-show match that neither of us saw Jack Perry Pinshabata, 9 minutes, 16 seconds, three-star match.
Well, hey.
Does this sell your three-star match to you?
Lots of chops.
No selling.
And firing up.
What?
Three stars, middle of the road, lots of chops,
no selling and firing up.
Maybe that's why he only gave it three stars,
because, you know.
Also on the pre-show, Julie Hart, or Julia Hart,
he wrote Julie Hart, Julie Hart, is a,
is that Brett's wife?
Brett's ex-wife, yeah, but she retired a few years ago.
Well, Julia Hart and Sky Blue defeated Mina Shirakawa
and Queen Amanata.
That is fun to say.
Nine minutes and 52 seconds.
Two and three quarter stars.
But can't be just right underneath,
but can't be just quite as good as Jungle Jack and Shepoopy.
The match was fine and ended with everyone doing big modes.
Proof-read the observer.
Everyone doing big modes and blue pin Shirakawa with Code Blue,
one of her big modes.
You know what?
I think that's a goddamn new.
team. Big mode.
All right.
Let's get you out of here with the pre-show.
Apparently, Nick Foley did a pre-
pre-show, did a promo
with Juice Robinson,
and then
Jay White and Austin and Colton
Gunn and Ace Austin
defeated a Wheeler Yuta,
Daniel Garcia, David Finlay,
and Clark Conner's
Tornado, no-DQ match, 11 minutes
54 seconds.
Remember, that was the tailgate brawl
that we obviously didn't see,
but that that was the garbage match on the pre-show.
And getting no tail participating in a match like this,
three-and-three-quarter stars.
Three-and-three-quarter stars
for a garbage match with the underneath people
in a comedy fashion on the pre-show.
Because they were doing comedy stuff
with the garbage.
Comedy stuff,
with the garbage. Comedy stuff with the guys.
It's the name of my new album, folks.
They were hitting each other with footballs and football helmets.
Didn't you read the? Oh, I didn't know.
The transcription. Oh, yes. That's, you know, that was their tailgate.
It was like a football fucking tailgate where they had a garbage match but with a tailgate theme.
And comedy. Well, let's get past the tailgate. Let's get to the main show here, Jim.
The opening contest, Andrade defeated pack.
18 minutes 40 seconds,
four and a half stars.
All right, we can't even
get on him for that because obviously the
events of the last week may be playing apart.
Match two, Jim, on the main show,
but the fifth match altogether.
Kyle Fletcher and Kevin Knight
defeated Darby Allen and Steve Borden
via ref stoppage, 12 minutes, six seconds.
Well, we saw that son of a gun.
Two and a half stars.
Well, I...
It would have been three if he bled.
It had been maybe two stars.
If we went again by the original scale,
Steve was green on some things.
Darby did a couple of things.
They also did do the false finish of power bombing,
the 140-pound man on the stairs,
and then discontinuing on like nothing had happened.
But the match was about two stars before the guy just knocked himself out
and was carried out and the whole thing was called off.
Does that take anything away from the in the Olympics?
If the guy's flip was nice,
but when he landed, he broke both his legs,
would that take off from the score?
Well, if we're going with the idea that it's supposed to be a five-star scale
unless, you know, tickles Dave's fancy,
two and a half would technically be middle of the road.
Was this an average match,
or was this a below average match?
This was kind of a below average match
before they got to the part
where they just had to finish
because nobody could, the people couldn't continue.
So that's two and a half, okay.
Persephone,
defeated Danny Luna,
14 minutes, 36 seconds,
two and three quarter stars.
I honestly, we didn't witness that either, so I'm sure it was just fine.
Kazushka Okada defeated Tomaso Champa to keep the international title 21 minutes and one second.
Okay, here we go now.
Okada's involved, so this is another one of Dave's blind spots.
He still thinks that he's seeing whatever he's.
saw in this guy before that he started moving like a man in an iron lung and a victim of a car wreck,
and he backdates his vision to that memory accordingly.
Four and three-quarter stars.
As good as five.
Better than anything Kurt Angle has ever done, equivalent to the finest of flare and steamboat or Michaels and the Undertaker was
Okada and I'm not knocking Tomaso.
Although I don't know that anybody's ever compared him with Kurt Angle or Rick Flair
Riggie Steamboat, but you know, you can't roller skate in a Buffalo hurt.
Well, the Buffalo continued to roam Jim.
The next match in a street fight, Alex Windsor and Jamie Hater
defeated Megan Bain and Lena Cross 17 minutes 39 seconds.
Good Lord, that was long.
And that was the women's garbage match.
He traditionally, he's giving the women two and three quarters to three.
As Dave being sexist, pigeonholing the women or whatever,
because this was almost 20 minutes long and another fucking garbage match.
This was among the best women's tag bouts in company history.
It was wild.
Four and a half stars.
What?
Four and a half star.
Congratulations, ladies.
So it's the garbage cans and the chairs and the furniture and the, oh, did you?
Also, I read this.
The finish was not only did they give one of the fucking women the finish, but they hit her over the head with a bottle first and then had to give her the finish.
That's right.
Oh, God, was it a thin bottle?
That was our sponsorship deal with Rick Flair wines or whatever.
If I hit a girl over the head,
break a bottle over a girl's head
and I still have to give her a wrestling finish,
I'm just quitting.
Well, Jim, don't quit now.
There's more to come.
Swerve Strickland and the new level.
Defeated Brody King, Adam Page, and Bandito,
23 minutes.
59 seconds.
That was a marathon, too.
Five-star match.
Oh, good Lord.
Best match of the show.
Oh, boy.
Well, I mean, is this another case of they stole the show, but it was petty theft?
Not in Dave's eyes, but did we establish there was a really standout match on this show that was the best.
Well, again, Dave says this is the best five-star match.
Interesting.
He writes here, it's notable that there were super loud.
fuck Ice Chance more at King than Page.
Hopefully David Ellison wasn't watching.
Why would it be more at Page than King?
I would assume it's kind of a Brody King thing, right?
I don't know, but
did Page make any statement or whatever,
but, or did he have someone
that was absconded by the Gestapo
and, you know, commented on it or,
or whatever.
We'll have to see what we can find out about that.
Jim, a few more matches here.
Tecla defeated Willow Nightingale in 13 minutes, 19 seconds.
Winner gets a title shot at Mercedes Monet,
four and a quarter stars.
Good Lord.
All right, I can see we're not going to get any expert commentary on that one.
Well, but here's the thing.
Even if it was that good,
and again, that's not something that was our cup of tea.
and we did not peruse said,
but one would think
that it would be better
just because there wasn't the fucking chairs
and the blood and the fucking tables
and the goddamn gimmicks
and the bullshit and the fakery.
And it was,
it was something where the two girls actually went out
and just went hand-to-hand like the old days
and tried to execute,
I don't know, a wrestling match.
So he can't rate that as highly.
Well, Jim, a couple more matches here.
The Young Bucks won the AEW tag titles in a latter match over Adam Copeland and Christian Cage
and FTR 23 minutes, 26 seconds.
Good God, it's like they've got a stopwatch on everything where we can't go until 23 minutes.
Five-star match.
As good as five stars.
Has anybody also, is Stokely speaking?
Is Stokely ambulatory?
Has anybody heard from Stokely?
Did that match stand out to you?
And I know you're not a big fan of it, neither am I,
but we watched it, enough of it.
Did it stand out to you as being so much remarkably better
than other ladder matches in the past,
that it really just stood out, like when you think of ladder matches,
there's going to be one match you think of.
It's the five-star one,
not the many, many, many, many other ones
over the past 20 years.
No.
No, because the best part of those
Edge and Christian were among the best part of those.
They were 25 years younger and a lot dumber.
And I just,
the whole thing is ridiculous to me.
that this is what they're doing when it's obvious that this has gone way past what
is an element of reason involved in this.
They just do this constantly.
It's not even, it's not just not unique.
It's not even, I don't know what a word for it.
It's commonplace.
It's constant.
Well, it did come with a disclaimer.
This was a crazy, dangerous match.
It was a spectacle.
But I'd hope we see a lot less of these type of matches, not more,
because the bar for these matches is so high
and causes people to live up to the expectations of a ladder match,
based on previous ones, to do so many dangerous stunts.
Five stars.
Yes, so let me praise this with my greatest bestowing of rating
and make every single indie mark that comes along in the future
want to do the same thing only better.
if you're saying that then call it for what it is this is a fucking joke as far as the wrestling
business goes it's not only past stale and stupid it's dangerous and it has nothing to do with
the wrestling business and a bunch of fucking marks have ingrained it on us over the last 20 years
but where we can't get away from it so give it one star well jim one more match to go will
Osprey defeated John Moxley to retain the AEW title in 32 minutes, 45 seconds.
Good Lord.
Four and a half stars.
I mean, do you think is Osprey, I'm sure Moxley probably didn't give a shit,
because he's convinced he's great anyway,
but do you think Osprey is going to be depressed that he couldn't top the garbage ladder match
and only placed like at the same thing as the girls?
I don't know.
You know, you wonder after a match like that, I didn't like that match at all.
Well, we went through in great detail, especially when they broke out into a completely different match.
Yeah.
What we didn't like about it, but I'm not surprised that Dave loved it because he has that mindset.
But shouldn't he just give them five, two, so they didn't have their feelings hurt?
Even in Dave's poll, which had 204 people reply, that was very very much.
voted the best match by only 21 people, that was voted the worst match by eight people. So
even that audience wasn't overwhelmed by it and it split their reaction, it wasn't that good.
The layout of the match wasn't very good. Usually, you know, it doesn't affect a Kenny
Omega match in Dave's eyes, the layout of the early part of the match, but that's the thing.
You see a lot of these matches, WWE and AEW, where if it's going 15 minutes, and usually it's
longer than an AEW.
The first 10 are one thing, and then the last five, they turn it up and it really gets hot,
and that's where the match really gets its reputation, sadly, a lot these days.
This match was the opposite.
It was kind of building, building, and then it just kind of, I don't know, sucked shit at the end.
It was awful.
It's terrible.
It petered out, is what it deferred.
The first part the Peter was in
but then the second part the Peter was out
That's just the Peter just going in and out
That Jvonne and Pentate tag match on Raw with
I think Dom and JD
It was good and then it got really really good
And I was like man I was great when it ended
I was like oh that was really good
It was better than this
This one I was falling asleep
And they woke me up and I was like what are they doing
This is how they're ending this whole Osprey
Moxley thing
but Dave
seemed to like it
and he seemed to like everything over there
and that's AEW All Out
the star ratings from Dave Meltzer
You know I'm wondering at this point Brian
is Dave is Dave eating right
Do you think he has a balanced diet
Do you think he's eating healthy food
We know he's got this busy schedule
Because he writes
743,614 words
every week in his newsletter typing with, it looks like several of his fingers tied behind his back.
And at the same time, he's tweeting nonstop making smart-ass comments to random people and bot accounts.
How does he have time to prepare quality, wholesome meals?
I don't think he does.
I think in the midst of all of the chaos that is Dave's life trying to carry the torch,
I'm sorry, I mean the banner for the trampoline cowboys.
I'm afraid his bad diet is what's happened.
Maybe it's lead poisoning.
Maybe he got hungry and he's snacking on lead paint off the windowsill instead of quality,
wholesome ingredients.
And that's what's happened to it.
I thought you would have gone with pencil for that example, not lead paint.
Well, no, because, you know, you can chew on a pencil for quite a while without getting
poisoning.
It's more concentrated in the paint.
Right.
That's why it says a lot.
It says a lot about the quantity of pencils you'd have to go through,
which makes it sound crazier.
Well, most of the time, he's at the keyboard these days.
That's why I'm thinking it could be the chemicals from the hair dye
have entered intraphalically,
but nevertheless, the man needs to eat better.
And maybe, you know, maybe we could get together
some kind of neighborhood watch where each day one of the neighbors
could prepare a factor meal
just heat it up it only takes two minutes and go and set it on his front porch outside the door
and then scurry away ring the bell and then run away because they don't want to actually
confront him he might start talking to him well don't do it like that don't do it like that ladies and
well no you don't want any interpersonal connection with dave folks just make sure he's fed i think that's it
three houses on the left and three houses on the right should alternate and then they could
leave him to his own devices on Sunday, even God took a day off.
So, and they just heat up a factor meal, and we can save you money.
We're going to tell you about that in a second, folks.
Heat up a factor meal, put it on his front porch, ring the bell and scurry off.
And to make sure he trusts it, just don't peel the cellophane back.
I think we should all worry about ourselves and feeding ourselves and feeding ourselves
the right things and leave other people alone.
I think that's one of the key points here on this episode.
So you don't want to, you're a charitable son of a gun.
You don't want to feed your family.
Feed your hungry family.
Feed yourself and eat the rich is what you're saying.
Poor Dave is not able to care for himself because he's got the follicle poisoning from the Earl Shib hair dye.
And he's not consuming the proper amounts of proper food because he's just snacking and costly on a Twitter.
At factor meals, you got salmon burgers.
You've got shredded pork.
You've got the terriaki salmon that you love so much,
or the Parmesan creamy shrimp and filet that I am in favor.
Over 100 nutrient dense menu, the nutrients,
they're packed into the pork.
God damn, you've got to carve these things with a carving knife.
And they're all nutritious because they're nutrients.
And they're ready in two minutes with no prep and no cleanup.
You can go to factor meals.com,
and you can see all of this incredible food that you can just slap in your face,
they'll do everything except rubbing your neck to make you swallow without having to chew.
That's what they'll do if you go to factor meals.com right now and use the code JCE 50 off.
You're going to get 50% off and one free breakfast item per box for one year while supplies last.
They baked a bunch of biscuits, folks, but they may not make it the whole year.
JCE 50 off is the code at factor meals.com for 50% off the free breakfast item per box.
You can see the website for more details, but you can live a healthier life,
do something good for yourself.
Don't be like Uncle Dave.

All righty, Brian.
Well, before we go on to any more wrestling-related,
information in keeping with the theme of good news happiness on the program day we're having fun
uh i could report there's good news in tennessee they've they've managed to save the life of
the woman they tried to kill so that's working out well have you've heard about this right the
attempted execution that that didn't go right yeah it's been all over the news it's a pretty crazy story
this is the first woman, I guess, in a state of Tennessee
they've ever been going to execute in 200 years.
And she did something rotten.
I don't know.
I'm not even advocating for her.
It's just the bizarreness of this story.
They're going to execute her by lethal injection.
And by law, they bring people in to witness the thing, the media.
and they give her the shot
and she starts snoring
and they however much time passes
they give her another shot
and at this point she says
you know my arm hurts
and then they hustle the fucking witnesses
out of the goddamn thing
and she's snoring loudly
and unconscious and they take her to the hospital
which it just
What in the fuck is happening?
They've decided they're going to kill this person.
They try to kill her twice.
They can't kill her.
Then they take her to the hospital.
Where she's in critical condition,
they say she may have suffered a brain injury.
Her attorneys, as you can imagine,
have been weighing in on this.
But what in the actual fuck?
How could people kill themselves every day?
How the fuck could an official
doctor authorized by the goddamn state not be able to kill somebody.
Well, this is the problem with it.
You know, all of a sudden being a priority to make it humane the way we kill the fucking
convicted killers or whoever's on death row and about to die, wouldn't have been this
problem with a firing squad or a hanging.
Electro chair can go wrong.
There wasn't ever a guy whose head was lit on fire at some point?
Well, no, they've said the electric chair is an option.
That's what they've said to this was, so they're going to put some brain damaged woman if she makes it out of critical condition to do it right, they may put her in the electric chair.
What the fuck?
Can you not just give somebody a bottle of Xanax and a fucking, you know, bottle of goddamn whiskey and say, here, you're locked in the room, do your thing?
But instead, we've got to go through this.
This is both, wasn't it the rule in the old days every Western movie I ever saw?
the son of Frankenstein.
It said that if
you get hung and the rope breaks
or it don't kill you, you get off.
Yeah, I was going to ask you about that.
That's been done since the days of Boothill, right?
So it seemed to me
that if you give me your
poisonous deadly cocktail of drugs,
Mr. Executioner, and I nip up,
that I would be allowed to go on my merry way.
You've fulfilled your part.
I didn't cooperate, but there's nothing that we can really do about it.
So we're done here, right?
Should she be allowed to sue the executioner for not doing the job in her living?
But then you would, it's not like the freelance fucking hanging people that used to travel
from town to town in the old west.
I know how to hang somebody.
It's a doctor, isn't it?
It's a doctor.
Yes.
It's, it's, it's, it's, it's, he's a person that's been hired and directed by the states.
you would be suing the state.
And the state got more money than the doctor.
Anyway, I would think they would be able to figure out a better way to do this.
And they all look like shit now, even more than usual.
They got their issues down there anyway these days.
But nevertheless, Nashville, Tennessee, Brian.
Nashville, Tennessee is known not only for people who don't know how to kill other
people in a humane fashion but for being the
headquarters, the home base of TNA wrestling,
which brings me to potentially our next segment where we can have
some fun. I have come to the end of the stack of the TNA
Asia reports that we've been reading and talking about over the last
several months. This is the last two episodes of the programs
that I have Asia reports for.
And I think the reason is that I may have just said,
fuck it, I'm going to goddamn choke somebody
if I have to write all this down again,
basically from the tone of the things that I'm reading here.
And as you'll recall, I was giving these to Jeff.
It was something that I had done,
started doing when I started with the company,
he had said just give me your thoughts on the program right
and then our friend vene Rue became involved
and the reports got a little longer but also unfortunately
less complimentary let's say
and as you'll see I think after these two
I was like well fuck it
and then the last set that remember the set before
that I found that was actually when
I got email was from 2009.
We're in March of 2007 here.
And I have show numbers to go to these.
If anybody is anxious to go,
have we ever decided where you can see these episodes of TNA
from this period of time anymore?
I don't remember, actually, if it was a firm decision.
I know they had an online service to watch the archive.
I think it's still active, but I've never used it or checked it
or heard from anyone who's ever subscribed to it.
So maybe there's that or there's always YouTube.
I don't know that these reports are going to make anybody
want to search these particular episodes out.
But let's just run through this and have a few memories
and a couple of laughs.
For TNA Impact show number 224, which aired March the 8th of 2007.
And remember, I'm reading these for the first time in 20 years,
so sometimes I don't know what the fuck we were doing either.
But in ring, Kurt Engel and Samoa Joe, very abrupt.
No entrance, no intro, they're just there and start.
It seems like we miss something.
Angle does all the talking, Joe just stands there.
Then he calls Cage, Steiner, and Tomko out,
does a good promo and tease for the six-man tag tonight.
Abruptly, we go to open.
as a viewer it seems like we only saw part of this
Joe came off like a sidekick
and the four asses in quotation marks
they said the word ass four times
the four asses that were bleeped
were distracting and lost the impact that one would have had
and I believe that the reason
why that this was so choppy was because
as we mentioned before
our friend would always write the programs
but he would never be the one to time them
they would come to the office with no goddamn times.
So it would be left to somebody,
I think Bob Ryder used to do it sometimes.
I've tried to Borash do some,
to put times to the goddamn individual things
that he had in all these segments,
and that's why it would end up there was a minute and 15 seconds
for a wrestling match.
because you can write shit down all day long
if you don't intend to actually figure out
how long it's going to take you to do it
and you have a set amount of time for a television program
you're not doing your fucking job is basically a point
which I was trying to make here.
Then we go to the first match,
serotonin versus VKM,
and Lance Hoyt.
Remember, VKM was the
Voodoo Ken Mafia.
There was a way
to get Vince McMahon's fucking initials
on the goddamn air
on the competing program
like he would give two shits
and a tickle of a taint.
He probably thought,
look at these desperate outlaws
having to talk about me.
But it was Road Dogg and Billy Gunn
is who VKM was,
and Lance Hoyt was Lance Archer.
Who's Saratown?
That's what I'm trying to remember.
It is, it was something to do with Raven.
I think it was his Ravens guys.
Kazarian was in it, I think.
Well, let me read what happened here.
It's Kazarian, Matt Bentley, and Johnny Devine.
There you guys, before he divined himself right out of position.
So I will read what I said about the six-man tag match.
VKM's name is now meaningless and confusing now that
the rib on WWE is over.
Apparently, they had decided to quit doing what they are doing.
Serotonin got no entrance, so we know who's doing the job.
Announcers finally explained what serotonin means after three months.
Brian, what is serotonin?
Do you know?
Serotonin, that's the thing that makes you fall asleep, isn't it?
No, that's, God damn.
It's in Turkey.
That's melatonin.
serotonin is supposed to
I think go the opposite way
give you energy
that's the point
it's coming up with it
fucking nevertheless
jumpstart was rushed by the heels
instead of letting size difference sink in visually
as it was the original idea
with six-way stare down
within 20 seconds heels use
kendo stick on floor and other heels
starts eating rings so
the baby face has got
20 seconds to shine.
This is all related to the fact
that there's no time for the fucking wrestling
on his goofy fucking programs.
announcers are explaining
the VKM Hemmy deal
as that's where
Billy Gunn and Christy Hemmy were
cutting promos on each other.
As if Billy Gunn is the chauvinist heel
rather than Hemmy, the annoying bitch,
which is the way that it was coming off.
Hot tag at one minute.
Heels fly great for Hoyt and it's over in one minute 30 seconds.
Raven out in his clown suit to cane his guys.
Kaz bows up but takes it.
Caining was weak on all three.
This took longer than the match and nobody gives a fuck or ever will.
Complete waste of TV time and certainly not an attention-grabbing marquee match
to kick off the show.
The whole deal was the team.
these poor guys in Ravens group
would go out and get their ass kicked in a minute
and then he'd come out and beat on him with a fucking stick.
And it was supposed to
teach him something or
make men out of them grow hair on their chest,
as Mama Cornett used to say, or whatever the fuck.
But it ended up,
Divine was gone. Bentley never made it.
And Kaz had greener pastures elsewhere.
But that's what,
that's a great way to start the television program out on March 8th, 2007.
Would you like to go to Seg 2, Brian?
Oh, who could say no to that?
We have Mike Teney with SoCal Val, Jeremy Borash, Letitia.
She was the girl interviewer that later on, she's the one that was seeing the American Pickers guy,
got in a car wreck here last year.
And they introduced Hector Guerrero.
and they were doing
they were doing some kind of deal here
to appeal to the Hispanic market, which is fine.
As a matter of fact, I say nice deal to appeal to Hispanic market.
Don West did a great job in a slow and normal tone
talking Hector to the ring.
Hector was good.
Val took a tremendous abyss had black hole slammed
or Abyss came out and black hole slammed SoCal Val
in this thing and I said Val took a tremendous slam from Abyss
but why? Unnecessary, unbelievable he could really do this
with no repercussions and she should have been in a wheelchair for six months
but he gets heat on the heel. Right is what the deal is.
Samoa Joe package well done but since he made
makes promises he doesn't keep, gets beat all the time now,
and his secondary to angle, it doesn't matter.
Because when it was Samoa Joe and Kurt Angle opposing each other as equal badasses
in their goddamn matches for the title, it meant something.
But now that they've put them even reluctantly on the same side for all this dramatic bullshit,
Joe became the sidekick.
All righty.
How about Seg 3, Brian?
Are you awake yet?
Just snore like the execution victim if you go to sleep.
Ready for Seg 3?
There's Seg 3.
Robert Rude, Eric Young, and James Storm with Tracy Brooks and Jackie
against J. Lethal, Petey Williams, and Sanjay Dutt.
another six-man tag match okay well maybe they'll they'll get some time here let's see dut makes lethal
do savage rude and eric young have conflict brief wrestling match in here somewhere rude's work
looks good and storm was okay but no time to see anyone else cold tag and dut makes comeback
dud is a great athlete but physically is totally unintimidating with no credibility
bless Sanjay but i mean it's it's a truth
gayle kim attacking jacky was the biggest pop of the match super kick and heels over in
three and a half minutes and a lot of that was the story and the bullshit okay for what it was
the girls got over then jeremy borash was there with cage and abyss cage was cute
and abyss assaults borash which is way past ridiculous by now
and i wrote how many times did lancers
Dave get beat up in 30 years.
They were always roughing
Jeremy up because he had fun doing it,
which was part of the problem.
Same for
Alex Shelley,
LAX and 3D package.
A lot easier to understand put together
like this instead of as it originally
aired. I wish the performance was
as good as the editing.
And then they did
the on camera with the announcers doing
the pay-per-view lineup and then
they did a package for the last
rights match.
Remember, we've talked about that?
Oh, yeah.
The last rights match where they had on pay-per-view
that they had a scaffold match on,
they also had the last rights match
on where you had to put your opponent on a platform
and he had to be raised to heaven.
So on the same show,
a guy lost by falling
and a guy lost by going up.
And that's where the Fire Russo chance
started in the impact zone during the
last rights match.
They had a package to explain it.
My comment was creature features.
Silly.
Then here's our Seg 5.
Well, I've got Steiner entrance, Tomko and Cage entrance,
Samoa Joe entrance, angle entrance,
Rhino entrance.
Ah, it's a six-man tag.
Sounds like a pattern here.
Between mid-Seg 3 and start of the match in Seg 5,
we were out of the ring for 16 minutes and 15 seconds of pre-tapes, breaks, packages, etc.
Almost as if whoever is writing the show has no knowledge of how to format a TV show.
Oh, I forgot.
So it's Caged Tom Cohen Steiner against Angle, Joe, and Rhino.
Hold on.
Jumpstart by the baby faces rushed through what would have been a lot of nice,
spots if they could have registered in between.
No one even bothered to tag in or out of this entire segment.
AJ Stiles runs in right in front of the referee who did nothing.
Rino bumped him around and left the match.
And the other five guys stood there with their dicks in their hands to chase AJ up the
scaffold to the break in two minutes.
They start a six-man tag with six main event talents.
They've got guys running in within a minute and climbing the scaffold
and we go to a break after two minutes of action.
Seg 6, match continues already at Heat on Rhino,
replay of scaffold chase from break, cluster fuck.
Someone finally bothered to tag about one minutes into this segment.
Rhino Cole tags angle at 130 to no pop.
Angle makes a nice comeback, breaks into a six-way at 2.15.
everybody hits a big move.
Abyss hits ring on angle and referee decues it
for the same thing AJ did in the previous segment.
It's over in 315. Blackout.
Sting appears in both sides of the impact zone
and in the ring in the span of 10 seconds.
Preposterous.
They were doing teleportation early
because of Schittstein's mental disability.
They had two fake fucking stings dressed up and then they put him in the race.
Sting makes a five second comeback on Abyss and we're into the go home package for the pay-per-view.
Great last two minutes of this match before the cheap, crummy finish,
but it would have been nice to have a real match in front of the finish so someone would care.
Ten minutes and 15 seconds of bell to bell in the show.
Why do we bother to set up the ring?
that was my closing thought
sounds like I really missed a great episode
I'm sorry I couldn't get no time machine
and go back and see it live
I was getting paid to watch these things
I worked for the company and it was painful
and this is what had happened
it was October that he first
darkened the doorstep by March
this is what everything had turned into
and they wonder why
they couldn't do business on pay-per-view
and they wondered why, well, we can't run house shows.
We can't sell any tickets.
And they were getting more and more support from the network
and giving them a worse and worse product by the day.
Anyway, I give you one more, which caused me to quit.
Show 225, airing March 15.
of 2007.
And this was the show that aired
after
Destination X,
which is where the
last rights match
and the other things took place.
They opened up with a Destination X
Recap package, which made the
pay-per-view, in my opinion, look a lot better
than it was. And then
in ring with J.C.,
announcing the lethal lockdown
down match.
And I introduced Cage and Angle, and after that it went nowhere and nothing happened.
That's exactly what I wrote.
I don't know what the fuck they did.
We went to the show open and the pyro, and then AJ Stiles came out with a neck brace and
crutches.
And I said, did a good job on the promo, suckered Rhino out, attacked him, made the
scaffold bump meaningless.
Oh, so he came and he took the bump off the scaffold.
He came out in a neck break and neck break.
A neck brace and crutches,
and it was to sucker Rhino out and attack him.
Made the scaffold bump meaningless,
turned this into another hokey wrestling angle
and put in people's minds not to believe any injury claimed by anyone,
whether real or not.
Rhino did a good job on the promo as well,
but then they get in a fight.
Nobody hits the ring or even tried to get in the cage to break it up.
The crutch shots looked horrible,
and we go to break in the middle.
of an attack.
Can you visualize how stupid
that that looks, Brian,
when these, on the wrestling show,
the wrestlers are fighting
and they're not supposed to be fighting.
But not only is nobody trying to break it up,
they don't even stick around
to see who wins the fucking fight.
Well, we're going to go talk about
douche spray now.
We'll be back.
That's crazy.
Well, stupid, this is all part of the master plan,
because the master plan.
When we come up in segment two
from the break of three and a half minutes,
they're still fighting,
and still nobody's trying to stop it.
And then Cage walks right into the cage,
no pun intended, with no problem,
and attacks Rhino with the other crutch,
and these shots look bad too.
Angle and Joe finally hit and chase AJ out.
Cage goes over the top of the cage so easily to escape,
that it has now killed every cage match we will ever do again unless they all have a roof.
Nonsense was my bottom line.
I swear to go,
I remember this.
When the baby faces hit,
he just ran over the top of the fucking cage like a goddamn chimpanzee.
What the fuck?
J.B., Jeremy Borash with L.A.X and Alex Shelley,
Conan was the first thing so far,
watching and his promo was very good.
We go to Seg 3.
Jeremy Borash is with Chris Sabin playing
video games. Why and who cares?
Backlin comes in and he's funny to us, but once again, who cares?
Which is beginning to be the theme of this show.
Then Kevin Nash introduces Jay Lethal,
who was at his Savage phase and he was coming out to the ring to the Savage music.
A three way.
Jerry Lynn versus Frankie Cazarian versus Jay Lethal.
That is a goddamn lineup of guys who even if they didn't push them to the main event could work their asses off, right?
The bell rings to start the first match on the show 25 minutes and 40 seconds into the show.
This is still a one hour program, by the way.
They haven't even got two hours yet.
lackluster three-way spots,
cool roll-up and German suplex combo by Kaz,
but one move does not make a match.
Even Jerry Lynn couldn't save this
as they went through the motions
like they were underwater
and lethal pinned Kaz in two minutes and 30 seconds.
A three-way with these guys for 230, right?
And their mental fucking attitudes had been broken.
They're like,
why are we even doing this?
And then Chris Daniels came in and hit everybody with a baseball bat.
At least he only hit him once each.
It's when Rousseau was going to try to make Christopher Daniels
an actual fallen angel a religious-oriented gimmick.
No, seriously.
I don't remember that.
I don't remember that.
That's because it didn't make it.
But he was going to.
Jeremy Borash with Christian Cage and age.
J. Stiles adds AJ to his team. Cage as usual spoke well.
Borash's eyes looked like Marty Feldman and young Frankenstein, making this
preposterous show look even more like a parody of wrestling.
J.B. would make the pull the faces, as William Regal would say.
Segment four, L-A-X and Alex Shelley enter. Why would L-A-X associate with the white boy?
Team 3D and Runt with Johnny Rods enter
Seriously, Johnny fucking Rods.
Why not Pat Hutchinson?
That was for Jeff Jarrett, only he would recognize that name.
A 65-year-old man that nobody outside of New York City
remembers and was never a top name to begin with
when we have a future roster to get over.
They remember they did the thing where L-A-X-E-L-X-E.
went to New York and assaulted and beat up
some miscellaneous Mexican guy
that we did not know was Johnny Rods
or was any way a trainer of
fucking team 3D
until they told us afterwards.
And now they brought him down there.
Well, it's very unpredictable.
Bell rings to start the second match on the show
36 minutes, 15 seconds in.
Conan on color
at least gives me something to care about.
These guys have had
bloody and brutal gang wars
and now they're having a six-man tag
with a job guy and a fucking mohawked
midget as partners.
Lackluster match.
Bubba Ray sold
his injured arm to a point of
overselling I've seldom seen
then forgot completely
about it to do moves.
Homicides offense was uncharacterized
characteristically horrible, and to break in three minutes and 45 seconds of a stinky bad match.
Segment five, match continues.
The recap of what we missed in the break looked like the best shit in the show so far.
The heels fucked up and Devon made a rotten comeback.
Thank God, Conan is still on color.
Six-way mess.
3D get a fucking table for the millionth time and put Shelly.
through it. Hernandez
Weekly School Boys Devon for
the pen in four minutes.
A total of 745
making it the longest match on TV
and ages and it has to be
this mess. Then
we go to Letitia with
serotonin and Raven.
Where Raven says some rehearsed
mumbo jumbo that nobody cares
about, serotonin tries to rebel
Raven slaps the one kid
six times and it looks like
shit and hurts. Cain's
the other kid, and this was a minute and a half of forever.
People think that I was joking when I have talked about what he writes.
This is all he writes.
Does this sound like exactly what he always writes?
It's his style.
It's the Russo style.
Very few wrestling matches or very little wrestling on a show because casual fans don't
like wrestling.
And then lots of obnoxious, gross, stupid, immature,
awful creative
that casuals
would never stop and watch.
So nobody wins.
Well, if there was any doubt,
let's remove it with segment six,
the finale of this program.
Jeremy Borash
in the toilet.
That's not a rib.
They opened the segment
with Jeremy Borash
in the toilet. I said parenthetically
with the rest of this show.
In the toilet? And Eric,
Young is cleaning the toilet.
He's in the, he's in, when you're in the bathroom, you're in the toilet.
Well, you, you, there was only one toilet there.
It was a small studio.
But the announcer is in the bathroom next to the toilet with one of the wrestlers who
is cleaning it.
And rude verbally abuses Eric Young.
I hope Eric Young's friend is not who it was to be originally because the last thing we need
is a main event talent in this mess.
I can't even remember who that may have been now.
And then we go back to the ring for Christian Cage and AJ Stiles.
Shouldn't this be a main event match instead of another Cage promo?
Introduces Abyss as part of his team.
Remember it's the lethal lottery is coming out, a lethal lockdown.
Sting interrupts to try to save Abyss's soul again.
They fought five times on pay-per-view.
Sting almost bled to death last week against the guy, and he's still trying to save him?
Abyss is so dead, he needs jumper cables after all this.
Cornette out and tries to make chicken salad.
Sting mumbles a Swahili folk song.
They jump in for a five-second schmaz, and we're into the go-home package, which lasts 28 seconds.
In capital letters, this was the worst T&A TV show I have ever seen.
and at that point I retired from agent reports.
That really is the last agent report of this batch, of this run.
That's all I found.
Remember, I had the other ones on email.
I found these in the files last Christmas when I went through stuff.
And there's still things that need to be sorted,
but I don't know that there's any more of these.
And you just stopped sending them and Jeff didn't say,
hey, send more?
I think after these, he probably figured, you know, fuck.
It's not doing any good for any of us.
At that time, I was not aware of Dixie Hurricane Carter's unhealthy obsession with bug eye.
And I kept telling what are you doing every week?
And it was like he was handcuffed, but I couldn't see him.
So I guess he got tired of being berated and was happy to not see him anymore.
Well, then I guess this is our final TNA agent report, March 15th, 2007.
The one that finally broke everybody, Jeremy Borash in the toilet with Eric Young.
But, you know, that's the thing back then, Brian.
There was just, there was there was no way to, uh, to, uh, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to,
figure out a proper transition to this fucking spot.
So what I would normally do is just say, hey, you know what, I can get you a good deal on
something and save you money. And then you'd say what? So say what?
What can you get a good deal on? The Ridge Power Bank.
Ah.
See if we had been plugged in with these shows, they'd have had some energy to them.
But instead, we were unplugged. And the acoustic version was going, I don't know.
folks if you need to plug a lot of shit in because you're like everybody else in the world today
and you've got a phone and you got a laptop and you got an apple watch
and you got all this other horse shit that does you absolutely no good but just ruins your life
makes you miserable but you got to have it you know what you got to do to it sooner or later you
got to plug it in now do you want to plug your phone in someplace like at the airport or some
shop and not only you might leave it there and then somebody takes it because you had it plugged
into somebody's wall or they may be able to hack you and steal your identity and all of your
money through your phone because of these fancy Dan computer hackers these days. Or let's say,
for example, you're out on the side of the road and you're broke down and the zombies are
approaching. If you just had some power in your phone, well, now you can carry this thing around
and you can charge everything. As a matter of fact, they may be able to plug that poor woman in Tennessee
plug her electric chair into the five and one rival, the five and one travel bank from Ridge or the
rival bank from trudge. They could, they could just fry her up like goddamn,
a fillet of fish on Friday,
and it's got free shipping and a 99-day risk-free trial and a lifetime warranty.
So if you find out that the Ridge 5-1 travel power bank is not powerful enough to power an electric chair,
you can send it back and get your money back.
But it's got 20 watts of power and a 10,000-math battery M-A-H.
what is that short for 10,000 math that's what it's it look you can get three full phone charges out of 10,000 max so USBC
DEFG lightning cables Apple watch chargers mag safe wireless charging well be careful you don't step on this thing
fuck it might shock you but I understand that if you if you sit your
phone on this charger and then you set on your phone and call yourself with somebody else's
phone you can use it as a cheap vibrator yeah i don't know but folks if the power bank isn't your
thing yeah don't worry they got plenty of other fine gifts to choose from they've got those wallets
that you can use as oriental martial arts fighting stars you can they got tracker cards phone cases
luggage and this luggage boy how'd it brad if you ever commit any kind of international
of espionage you want to hide the evidence put it in the ridge wallets or the ridge luggage they make
this shit to last nobody's going to be able to break in or x-ray it and find out all the horrible
things you've done and folks once again they come in a variety of colors including burgundy
matt olive base camp orange matte black and phantom a new color phantom basically you can't
see it. It disappears right in front of you because it's a fandom. So that's handy when you
want to hide belongings from friends that come over to your house you don't trust. And the LED
charge status indicator displays the battery and charging levels, effortless hands-free viewing
while your phone powers up with the kickstand and all of the modern technology, Brian.
what all kinds of things do you plug into your fine
Ridge 5-1 travel power bank?
Oh, all sorts of things.
And that's one of the great things.
You can plug anything into it and get that power you need.
And I understand we have a great deal for the listeners
when it comes to this power.
That's right.
Power.
That's what it's all about.
If you're on a power trip,
you're going to want to pack the Ridge 5-1 travel power bank.
And right now you can go to ridge.com,
R-I-D-G-E, and get 10% off.
with the promo code JCE.
Ridge.com,
the promo code JCE 10% off.
Just get this.
It's going to save your life one of these days.
And you can also,
if you charge one of your power banks,
then you can get another power bank
and plug that power bank into your original power bank
and charge that.
And then you'll have two and you'll be twice as safe.
Ridge.com, promo code JCE.
That's right.
Ridge.
Well, now that we're
over the top of the ridge and on the downhill
slide,
we didn't do this earlier. We said we were going to have a
happy and fun show,
but at the same time we do have to acknowledge
the AEW Dynamite program
that they aired this past Wednesday night,
which we're not going to
critique in our usual fashion
and make fun of the matches and et cetera,
because the whole show
was a tribute to
Pack, who obviously had passed away
just a few days beforehand, and they
threw everything they were going to do out the window
and just put together a tribute show.
And it was the most...
I know Uncle Dave said it was the best episode
of wrestling television ever.
It was by far not the best episode of wrestling television
was the most emotional, possibly,
although there were...
And I'm not going to go back and watch all of them to go through that,
but there were some emotional statements about Owen Hart made on that raw that night.
But this would have to be, if not the most, one of the two most emotional programs of all time.
But I don't want to seem critical by saying that I think what they should have done
was do the statements from the guys and even have more of those if they were going to,
could have do it and show his greatest AEW matches or clips from multiple of his greatest
matches rather than try to go on and have live matches under that circumstance because
aesthetically it was the same people having the same kind of matches that they do every week
on television.
There's more multiple man matches because more people wanted to get involved.
but I'm sorry but I think back to when again the Owen tribute guys were able to tell their
their heartfelt feelings and a number of them broke down it was very emotional but then when
you went back to the programming it was the the show must go on element where there were still
okay now we're back to having regular matches we're not going to do
do heinous angles or, you know,
if I could go for tremendous heat,
but we're still going to do matches.
But in this case,
I think this was more therapy
for the guys involved than the viewers
that they wanted to work on the show,
but it just,
it almost seemed ridiculous that they go out.
Some of them obviously crying,
all of them upset.
They hug and,
not just a sportsman-like bro-like hug,
but they hug extended hugs and comfort each other,
pat each other on the back,
then ring the bell,
try to kill each other for 15 minutes,
dropping each other on their head doing everything,
and then the bell rings,
and then they all hug again.
That, to me, again,
it's the question of a casual viewer
versus a hardcore diehard or whatever viewer,
but does AEW or does any wrestling these days have any casual viewer?
Does any normal people watch this shit anymore on a bet?
No.
So you super serve who you have.
Yes, but they were,
so the people watching were all motivated to,
yes, we knew who he was and we enjoyed his match as we were fans of his.
But again, it was just so much over two and a half.
half hours of everyone being upset and no respite from it except to have the obviously
performative matches when we've just hugged and admitted our grief and now we're going to
beat each other up. I think they should have let the guys speak about him and shown him
rather than having the guys speak about him and then have these matches that had no purpose
otherwise than the guys wanted to perform on a show that was a tribute to him.
Does that make me a horrible person for seeing many of these things were good
and many could have been potentially better if they'd have done more of them?
No, I don't think it makes you a horrible person.
Personally, I don't have a problem with what they did here.
I think it may have been the best produced.
It's hard to say any complimentary thing about a tribute show, the best tribute show ever,
I thought it was great the way they laid it out.
That doesn't mean I don't have problems with several of the things on the show
in terms of commentary or matches.
But by and large, I thought they did a good job
for all the shit I give Tony Shivani on commentary.
Even here on this night, I didn't like him on commentary.
He was perfect to start to show off the way he did.
He's got somewhat of a real sports and real news background
from the various radio gigs.
he's had and everything. So when he is
faced with a serious issue,
he can straighten up when he doesn't have to just
laugh and go, oh, I love this stuff.
It's all crazy. That's the best use of him.
He was the best person probably to have do that, I think.
And, you know, in terms of the videos of guys
talking, I don't know this for sure, and I have not asked anyone,
I'm leaving people alone about this, but I would
guess that they said we have a camera set up for anybody
who would like to speak. If you feel you have
something to say, do it, and they used what they got.
I'm sure there's plenty of people who did not feel comfortable talking about that.
I would have to think, he's got a roster of 125 fucking guys.
And hold on, I made, I jotted down or tried to jot down the, the people who did it.
Moxley, well, Moxley and Company was a pre-tape.
Well, we have to talk about that separately.
That's a extraordinary.
Yeah, that's, that was a whole,
thing but the
backstage people
Adam Page
of
Cash Wheeler
Jay White
Ricochet
Osprey
Swerve Darby
I think there would
have been more
it just it was a time
issue but as I said
if they were going to do it they would
should have had more of that and
less of the matches
but I it
the thing is it
unless you
you were a fan of Pax or a personal friend or whatever,
it was, nobody would have wanted to watch this whole thing all the way through
without wanting to jump off a bridge unless you were really motivated.
You knew him, et cetera.
It wasn't like anybody was just going to, oh, I'll watch the fun wrestling show tonight.
So I think they should have, it may be even except for Danielson,
because Danielson coming back to the ring,
that, you know, was a big deal and maybe, you know,
you get away with that match.
But I thought I could have gone for a lot more of the legitimate stuff
instead of the fake wrestling that they made faker, just me.
Yeah, me, again, I would have liked to have seen a best-to-pack
or whatever you want to say, you know, his best match is an AEW.
But again, I don't have a problem with what they did,
and I think you kind of touched on it.
This meant a lot to them.
It also meant a lot to fans of AEW and fans of PAC,
but more than anything,
you know, this was about the staff and crew and wrestlers of AEW
morning someone who's been there since the beginning.
Well, and obviously he was one of the most popular guys in the locker room
and everybody loved him.
So yes, you know, that was, this is for them.
And they did the tin bell, which you could see,
all the talent on a stand and that's another thing mr me mr old school i don't want all the talent
together heels and baby faces i have no problem with the talent altogether on the stage for 10
bells things like that it shows respect if i had a main event program between my top baby face
and my top heel that was drawing money i would probably suggest they stand on opposite sides of the
stage but still everybody understands if this is real
they would not be fighting under those circumstances.
So all of that stuff, you know, and when Danielson came out,
they fucking blew for, he came out first in Moxley's match,
and they had a long hug in the ring and Danielson was broken up.
But then later on, he was in the, what was, eight man, ten man,
I forget how many 10-man tag with Callis family against the death riders.
And that was a big memorable moment because he hasn't worked in, what, two years now.
I don't really understand why they decided to just go ahead and after they've come this far with Wardlow
and throw him in that when they've just announced he was coming back with a video.
And now he's just one of the guys again.
but really again, the video they did,
the tribute video, the music,
that's commercial music of some description.
It was too modern for me to know who the fuck it was.
But that video that they did on obviously short notice was phenomenal.
It was a great piece.
Did you recognize that Mr. Music Fellow,
or is it even younger than you?
I don't recall what they used.
I just, I don't recall.
It was very sad.
At the time, I thought they did a tremendous job with a video.
It's a great video.
You know, they all left you feeling sad.
But it's, you know, also beautiful that everyone kind of gets to not go through this together,
but it's a tribute to him for a reason.
You know, like, whatever you want to say about Osprey and Rickache,
and I know you're not a fan of the matches being on this show,
but it was clear to them, it was clear to me that it meant a lot to them that it was a tribute
match to him. Oh, Osprey did his, his Pax finish off the top. And then I couldn't tell whether
he was excited that he nailed it. I mean, I've seen people win the Olympic gold by spiking
the landing and they weren't that excited. But then you couldn't, I couldn't tell for a minute
whether he was laughing or crying, like, I pulled it off. I got it. I did it for you,
a pack. But was he crying at the same time? It was just, it was very emotional. The Moxley
promo that was at the
front of the show where Tony
Shivani went to a promo that was recorded
right after the pay-per-view
Saturday night. So the very last thing
that Pack did
one of the best
Moxley promos ever and I think
because of the circumstances
I was watching
intently like you know, okay Pax there like
this is the last thing they're showing it for a reason
of all the days
from Moxley to pick the words he picked.
Well exactly.
And he talked for three minutes or what.
They said, well, we're going to play this.
It's packed because they couldn't have just played it cold without explaining
that it was Pack's last appearance on an AEW camera.
And all he did was he was in the group with the guys,
but he's the last one to leave.
And it was just spooky because Moxley's whole promo was about,
well, I lost the match, but people lose.
And say you lose things.
Sometimes you don't get what you deserve,
and you don't get what you work for,
and you lose things,
you lose people.
Just that whole point of that thing.
Like you said,
he was legitimately coherent,
Moxley,
for once.
And not only with,
most of it was kind of a profound promo,
but it was,
it was like the,
that ultimate warrior promo,
where he did that thing,
and then had a heart attack
and died the following day.
It was like,
oh.
Yeah.
But it was just eerily premonicent, if that's a word.
Is that a word of what would happen?
And it would have gone by as any normal Moxley promo had it not been for the tie-in
with this incident.
Yeah, I mean, and again, he's talking about how people are going to be remembered
and eulogizing people.
Everything he was saying there was just like, wow, this is kind of deep.
And then the very last thing of the video is Pack walking.
off. Everyone else left, he was the last one. So the very last thing is him walking off to the side
and man, that hits hard. I feel awful for everyone there for going through this. This has to be
real rough. Well, and this, apparently the only thing that we've heard since we've talked about it
is that I know now, Monheim Road, that restaurant where he was in the parking lot, that's right next to
O'Hare Airport.
And apparently
he may have been driving to the airport
to fly out
potentially to the butcher's memorial service
or just to fly home or whatever
and maybe he felt sick or whatever,
but he got off the highway and pulled into that parking lot
but never actually went into the restaurant,
never got that far.
So he was intending to
go to the airport, go from one place,
to another, but that has to double
the rottenness
of it that he was trying to go
to one of the other boys' funeral service.
And there were wrestlers there who found out
that Pat died when they saw the tweet from AEW
at the memorial service of the butcher,
so it's a real double whammy.
It's just such a sad situation.
And again, I think in terms of the tribute show here,
this meant a lot to everyone there.
I mean, I give Excalibur so much shit,
but he was as emotional as we've ever seen him,
and you could tell this meant a lot to him,
just everyone there.
Oh, they did a nice thing.
It was Swerve and Creed and Kofi,
where they just did an entrance
and they left the six-man belts
and a pack towel in the ring
because PAC had been the original six-man champions
or whatever the case,
but I did nice stuff like that.
I would have rather them do that
and maybe have the one match
where they put the,
guys that they picked and Danielson comes back to get the pop and the blah, blah, blah.
You wouldn't have done Wardlow here, though, right?
No, because there's still, you've got to at least still try to keep some goddamn element
of your running a business no matter what's going on.
And it didn't do him any good or his value any good to just show up here.
Now the people know what they're going to see when he comes back.
at least they could have made a big put some attention on him.
But nevertheless, but yeah, that's, there's still no official word on anything,
just that that's how he apparently ended up in the parking lot of that restaurant,
not because he was going there to eat, but because it was very next to the O'Hare Airport.
And he was, that's the only, that area, to have any kind of,
medical issue
while you're driving alone in a car
you'd be fucking dead so if he figured
that he was feeling
woozy or something was going on
take any exit get to fuck off of that thing
because it's horrible in that area yeah thank god he pulled over
it would have been it could have it could have involved more people
so he was thinking you know
anyway I don't know what else other to say
than you know it was it was a
that I saw somebody say, boy, AEW does such great tribute shows.
I can't wait for the next one.
This was on Twitter.
I'm not even that fucking hard-hearted.
Yeah, I hope somebody else dies so we get a good tribute show out of it.
But there's some way, the way some people think.
I hope there's not another one for a long time.
Yeah.
The way some people think, I didn't think that I'm a fucking cold.
hard-hearted bastard. I'm not sure
how they
rectify things, but
anyway, yeah, this was
this was definitely an episode.
And they've got a pay-per-view
coming up in
what three, October 17th,
two weeks, not even
by the time the people hear this.
And do we know what they're doing
yet? I don't, but I hadn't even looked into it. What
pay-per-view is it? Isn't it
wrestle?
dream and Antonio Anoki's
legacy of making everybody dream
about wrestling?
Russell Dream 20s, that is the
only match we know right now is Mercedes-Mone
versus Tecla.
We have to know that one.
And that's October. Is it 16 or 17?
October 17th, Orlando, Florida.
Orlando.
Could get, maybe Carver will come in.
They can make him the, they,
They're not using the stalker gimmick for Barry Windham anymore.
I have a feeling,
Keanu, Carver, whatever his name is,
maybe done with the wrestling business.
But any other thoughts about AEW Dynamite?
No, unfortunately, that's pretty much it,
except it's just a sad situation all the way around.
And I feel bad for, you know, all of these guys
that obviously they thought very well of PAC.
and you know, especially with the timing of having just lost a guy out of the locker room,
they got to be thinking, what the fuck?
But anyway, and I hope people don't think I'm being critical of the program,
but I thought in this case, the wrestling was the thing that was extraneous,
and the other stuff was what was more meaningful.
Well, that was AEW Dynamite.
And this is my program, isn't it?
That is correct.
I forgot that.
Can we leave it now?
Are we done with this?
We are done.
Ladies and gentlemen, if you have no more questions, you're free to go.
We'll see you in a couple of days on a drive-through, and I'm sure there'll be a big pay-per-view coming up soon.
And next week here on The Experience, until then, thank you, bust me, and bye-bye, everybody.
