The midnight and the rock and roll.
He's in a fight for wrestling soul using a racket and some mind control.
He's Jim Connett.
The keys to the future.
The next episode of the shocking response, a shocking situation,
and a mess on AEW television doesn't shock me at all.
And joining me for all this and so much more,
Hawaiian Brian the podcasting Lion,
the King of the Arcadian Vanguard podcast network,
Mr. Co-host to you,
he's more exciting than shock therapy.
Be great, Brian Lasked, everybody.
Oh, lo-oh-ha, Jim.
Oh, hello, hi, Jim.
A pleasure to be here once in a day.
For this noise-filled, weird sounds,
and so much more addition of the experience.
Are you just rolling past the microphone
and you're going to shout into it as you go by
and the shout into it as you coming back.
I went back.
And now I'm moving up.
They're moving on up.
To the chair.
Did you like the Joneses?
Oh, yes, because I've watched them grow and blossom into spinoff worthy characters on All in the Family in real time.
That was a Saturday night tradition here in the house.
You got to watch the All in the Family on the CBS Network.
You didn't watch All in the Family when it first aired on the CBS Network?
I was born, I think, when they went to Archie Bunker's Place.
so it was a different world
I was born into Jim.
It was a whole different world
when Archie became a fucking
host for drunkards.
Anyway.
Belionle was the best of the Jeffersons.
But the theme song is classic.
And fish don't fry in the kitchen
and beans don't burn on the grill
because they were ordering out.
But no, that is
a fucking
I, God damn it.
I just had this talk with Stacey because Stace watches the Jefferson's on a regular basis on the Antana TV network.
And I kept saying it was Janet fucking Jackson that sang it.
And I knew it wasn't Janet Jackson, but it's Janet Dubois.
But she would, no, listen to me.
Now there's a connection here.
It's not even six degrees.
it's not even six.
They were both on good times.
Remember, Janet Jackson
was the little girl.
On good time, but Janet Dubois
was the neighbor, but she sang the song,
the theme song to the Jefferson's.
Well, we're moving on up to the east side.
Not in that key.
Not in that key.
To a deluxe apartment in the sky high.
But so it's,
there's a lot of Janet's.
And then Janet in Rocky Horror Picture Show saying,
damn it, Janet and all that stuff.
I feel like every Janet I've known in my life,
I encountered some friend of hers that called her
Janet from another planet.
Like every time.
I've known multiple janets and everyone's like,
oh, you mean Janet from another planet?
I'm like, why do you call her?
Why does every Janet get called that?
I think it must be a New York and or northeastern thing,
possibly the metro area, including parts of Jersey and Connecticut.
Every Chester is called Chester the molester?
Well, now that, well, that was a cartoon character.
Right.
Yes.
Cartoon character.
But Janet from another planet was never a cartoon character.
No.
So that makes perfect sense.
It would reason to believe, there would be reason to call Chester the molester
besides the fact that of his personal proclivities, because it's a,
It was cartoons in Playboy, right?
Chester the Melester.
Well, this is your show.
Are we going to get bumped off of YouTube or something for, you know,
now we're just having an innocuous conversation here.
I think it's this kind of wrestling talk that really lights up the internet.
Lights up the internet.
Ladies of you, I'm going to update from the news desk.
Pat Tanaka is still not arrived.
Come on now.
And his, it is appearance, but we're holding out hope anytime now.
I got a couple of e-but.
That's a serious situation.
There have been people waiting for quite some time now.
Some kind of word.
Yeah, they wanted to hear what happened.
Sure.
He still hasn't arrived.
Well, it's taken him a while, but, you know, travel's not as easy as it used to be.
It's only been, what, a month and a half?
We got an email from Ben.
And he'd have been done to say where Ben's from or where he's going.
but he says hello again gentlemen i'd like to know ben who you think you're calling gentlemen
october 11th is my 31st birthday i keep getting asked what i want to be honest i don't want for
anything i've been with my my now wife now i've been i think he transposed that i'll read
it like he should have wrote it i've been with my wife now since we were just 15 good lord i have a good
job that I love and I have three amazing children. I have everything I could ever want out of life,
so how could I ask for more, right? Right. Well, fuck it, I'll be a selfish prick and do just that.
After a lot of thought, the only thing I could ask for is a birthday wish for my favorite
wrestling personality, the great Jim Cornette. Feel free to tell me to go fuck myself too.
So Ben, on behalf of myself and Brian, happy fucking birthday, go fuck yourself.
This is multiple times now where people are like, hey, I had a great thing happen to me.
Everything's working out from me.
Can you tell me to fuck off?
Can you tell me to go fuck myself?
That's the only thing left to achieve their nirvana, their moment of tranquility is to have the final
piece of the puzzle. It's like it's
the Rickles syndrome. You've heard they did
studies. They did studies
at MIT. It's the Rickles syndrome.
Where they
the final piece
of their life to be complete is they
have to be insulted by the current
king of the insults.
So Dawn's dead
so I've taken
oh. Well fuck you, Billy.
Well, it was Ben
but
yeah, see. Probably is one.
He's like.
We don't even care.
Well, his wife probably calls him Billy anyway at certain points when she's got her eyes closed.
Nevertheless.
And then also, this is an email from Jeff.
And we talked here on one of the shows here recently, Brian, you and I did about Floyd Collins.
Got stuck trying to find the new entrance to Mammoth Cave back in the 1920s.
and we got some feedback about it on Twitter
and got some emails because, you know,
it was the biggest news story in the country.
And this, the new technology of radio made it even bigger, right?
Because they were broadcast about it.
But this email from Jeff says,
you recently educated Brian on Floyd Collins,
the Kentucky Spalunker,
who wound up trapped in a cave and couldn't be rescued.
You might be interested to know that a musical was written
about Floyd Collins.
It's an interesting piece, but flopped on Broadway.
Closing after 25 performances, they made it to 25.
E.C. goes on to say, I was associate artistic director of a theater company where we
considered producing Floyd Collins, but ultimately passed on it.
I thought you would find this interesting.
Well, Jeff, you were fucking wrong.
but no what
I'm fucking
I mean
think about a musical about
Floyd Collins
think about this
this guy
was trapped
I mean he was literally
a nondescript
person
that just was one of the people
trying to find an entrance
to Mammoth Cave
when they were making the national park
and it was money started being on the line
down there
down there
in that part of the state
and he gets stuck head first feet up in this little narrow passageway
and he's down there for, I don't know, what was it, almost two weeks before,
and there was a cave-in now, another thing that I was reminded of,
after they'd initially tried to start rescuing him and they could at least get shit to him
like lower water and shit, then there was a rock slide and they couldn't get to him at all
and they couldn't get him, but nevertheless, how do you do that,
as a stage play.
A guy stuck upside down
in a goddamn crevice in the rock.
Did you say stage play or musical?
Well, the same thing, a musical even.
Yeah, even worse, but any kind of stage play
and a musical,
was the guy going to be on stage for two hours
singing songs while he's upside down
at a goddamn coal shoot?
Yeah, a lot of echo, I'm going to assume.
Yeah, featuring
the songs, help get me out of this cave. Please someone find me. Help, this sucks. I wanted to die.
Featuring the great hit, Somewhere Over My Head is Food. How do you do that? Yeah, really. I mean, does the
whole thing take place? Somewhere over my head is food that I could eat, but I'm down here in this cold, dark cave.
with the rats nibbling my seat.
Unless it's people singing like on the surface,
like, where is Floyd?
Where is Floyd?
We can't find him.
No, wait, then they come out of the fucking cave,
the sir, the miners with the lights on their heads,
and they say, he's down there.
He's down there.
Does musical mean dance too?
I guess it would have to be dance involved, right?
I mean, it's on stage.
Well, I don't expect Floyd to be doing.
too many fucking fancy moves.
He's got his arms.
No, he was completely wedged.
He was trapped. He couldn't do shit.
I think he had one arm free.
He could do the worm,
the wiggle,
the shimmy.
Cocoa Bop.
And apparently they did end up,
they got what was left of him out
at some point.
Oh.
Later on, and then
he was put somewhere
by his brother.
I guess what would you
if you die
in a fucking stuck in a cave,
would you want him to dig you out
and then bury you again?
What the fuck good was that?
That's the big finale of the musical.
The song,
We've recovered his legs.
But seriously,
I just,
Off, off, off.
Wouldn't you just put a stone on top
of where we last saw him
instead of going to all the trouble
to dig him up,
and then fucking bury him somewhere else.
That would be the ultimate insult.
To me, if I was Floyd,
the last thing I was thinking was, get me out of here.
And they did and put me back.
All right.
So it would be a tragedy, a real tragic musical,
almost like an opera.
Maybe it should be an opera more than a musical.
The old Paliachi type of thing.
Floyd is itchy down in old mammoth cave.
All right.
Speaking of sticky situations and dangerous predicaments, Brian,
let us go no further that our friends over at the World Wrestling Entertainment Division of TKO,
that division of Who Shot John, a division of what the fuck,
a division of the one guy apparently that owns everything in the world these days.
But they're supposed to be going to Saudi Arabia here in about a,
month. And not even now by the time of the folks hear this. And you and I have joked in a pan,
I've said when they first came up with the idea, fuck going to Saudi Arabia. I won't be
going to Saudi Arabia. And people say, well, Corvette doesn't want to go anywhere, which this is
true. This is correct. But at the same time, we've said, you know, we would have not have felt
comfortable about it. And of course, people in and say, well,
run all those shows and nothing bad has really happened yet,
so it's just cornette, just blah, blah, blah, blah.
Apparently it's getting bad.
Since the last time that they were over in that part of the world,
things have changed, and now they are actively bombing the airport in Riyadh,
that I assume the international dignitaries,
such as the WWE superstars
would be flying into.
And as you made the point,
I think we were, well, you've made it
a both on and off air,
that it's not like they're holding this thing
in a secret location,
like a couple times they did the tribute to the troops.
This is a major American company,
these capitalist pigs
with these big-time
American celebrities
that have come to Saudi Arabia
at the deal done personally
or at the behest of
Prince Mohammed Brian Solomon
whoever runs that fucking place over there
they might attract a little attention,
don't you think?
I do.
I think the,
the planes may attract some attention.
I think the airport being on fire
would mean that there's already attention there.
So, you know, you're just capitalizing
on someone else's publicity.
And that's like the fucking directions
we got that time, me and the heavenly bodies
when we were going to that town in eastern Kentucky.
And the guys that just go down this street
about two miles till you come to the burnout house
and turn right. And we did.
And the fucking thing was still smoldery. It was still on fire.
Well, Jim, if you...
Oh, go ahead. I'm sorry.
I'm just going to say the fucking...
Yes, they're actually now bombing the airport
trying to disrupt air travel
and travel back and forth from one place to another
with especially people that are currently
fucking bombing them over there, like we are.
And by the way, they're also bombing the oil field,
so it's not like it's just like the airport.
They're going after everything that matters for the
country of Saudi Arabia who's done everything they can to get onto the world stage over the last
minimum decade plus the level they're doing it right now. I have a report from the wrestling
news I can read you with some updates as of this morning as we are recording. Less than a month
before the company's schedule crown jewel event, the United States Embassy in Saudi Arabia
issued a travel advisory on Thursday, reminding travelers to practice heightened vigilance
following a series of rebel attacks in the country.
According to the Associated Press on Thursday,
several explosions were heard in the Saudi capital,
including what was described as a large blast
at Riyadh's King Khalid International Airport.
This morning, the Saudi government reported three people died in the attack.
Iranian-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen
claimed use of a ballistic missile
while taking responsibility for the attack.
Thursday's violence comes one day
after the rebel-led attacks
on two airports in the cities of Riyadh and Abba,
reportedly killing three people
and wounding 36 others.
WWE's Crown Jewel event is scheduled to take place
November 7th at Riyadh Season Stadium.
The U.S. State Department has maintained
a level three travel warning
on Saudi Arabia since September 15th,
which advises citizens to reconsider traveling to the area
and to avoid the Saudi Yemen border altogether.
Well, and I am on the not only travel.
State.gov, which has the various
warnings about level three reconsidering
travel also includes areas at level four due to targeting of American interests,
armed conflict, terrorism, exit bans, and local laws regarding social media activity,
as well as Iranian drone and missile targeting.
But, and don't go to the border, as you said, at Yemen at all.
But if you go again to, this is the United States government.
And we know who's running that.
And we know who he's friends with, and they're still telling people this.
And again, complex security environment,
Americans traveling to or from the Middle East
should monitor information about airport and airline operations
in case they just yank the fucking planes out from under you.
Hey, I don't know if you know the answer,
and I don't know if this is something we're going to have to look up,
but they're going to be at Riyadh season stadium.
Riyadh season, correct me if I'm wrong, that's like their
like month-long festival, right?
Where they try to do all sorts of things, not just wrestling, but other sporting events,
maybe comedy, whatever it is.
I mean, again, if these rebels are doing all this on a Tuesday,
what are they going to do when it's Riyadh season?
Or what are they going to do when it's WWE?
Or is there anything else right now scheduled to happen in Saudi Arabia that, you know,
who is anyone pulling out?
I guess that's the question.
Well, and we know before the, I guess everybody listening now is asking,
well, what is the WAA saying?
And they're talking about it in the office.
And obviously they're not going to,
they're not going to say we're not going until they know they're not going,
because they don't want to be going back and forth,
which even calls more attention to their plight.
But what they're saying is how do we keep their money and not go?
That's what I'm saying.
Yes, they're waiting until the last possible second.
You know, maybe, you know, they're smoking the hopium.
It'll all clear up.
But, Brian, in case you go to see the show, they've got some actions to take on this U.S.
Embassy.gov website.
If you're over there in Saudi Arabia, if an aerial attack occurs, stay away from glass doors,
windows, and any fallen debris.
Monitor your phone and news outlets for official guidance.
keep your cell phone charged and pre-programmed with emergency numbers, including those below for the embassy and the consulates.
And they've got, there is no way you would ever be able to pronounce any of these fucking names of these streets or these districts or these.
The consulate is located off King Saad bin Abdullah's Road on the corner of Salah Adnanalai U.B. Road.
and Abu Labu-Bibou.
Isn't that LaBou-A-Bou?
Abu-L-A-Bub-Bu-A-L-A-L-A-L-L-A-Slomi Street.
You don't know, you ain't going to get to the consulate anyway.
Just look for the blown-out glass doors.
That'll be us.
Be aware of your surroundings.
Avoid all demonstrations and large gatherings.
Avoid all areas where there's a heavy police presence.
Monitor local media.
Follow the instructions of local authorities.
exercise caution and stay
listen to this no
hold on exercise caution and stay
alert at locations
publicly associated with the United States
there you go there you go
Donald Trump's in their Hall of Fame
they're associated with the United States
here comes that bunch of fucking
American phony wrestlers
here we go
oh and the last they keep a low profile
Brian, while you're over there.
Cover up.
You're a, this might be, I'm just a small town bird lawyer, as you know, and this might be, and this might be something for the, the king of jurisprudence, Stephen P. New to answer, but you're a learned young man.
What kind of liability does a company have? Because here in the W.W.E would be,
subject to the business laws of America,
no matter where they're engaging in business,
one would think.
And there's laws at work sites here.
If anything's dangerous,
they got to have a helmet or they got to the goggles
or keep out of this area
or there's rules for operating this equipment,
safety regulations.
Or there's liabilities you can sue in the ocean
and the whole nine yards.
What is the liability
of a company to send a plane full of its employees
and or independent contractors under its guidance
to a fucking war zone
where there's a level three travel advisory
and the government is telling you to exercise caution
at events associated with the United States
and keep a low profile.
So let's go to a fucking stadium
with 20 or 25,000 people
watching a bunch of American wrestlers
on a goddamn event that's being broadcast
around the world.
If something happened,
would the WWE
not bear some responsibility
for a lack of
negligence of some descriptions,
what I'm trying to say?
I don't know how to answer that.
Again, I don't even understand
how talent,
wouldn't themselves say there's no way we're going over to a war zone.
And again, they've done tribute to the troops, but that's a different animal.
That's a completely different animal than what's happening right now.
Nobody knew they were there until they were gone in those.
I mean, at some points they did after the unpleasantness, as they said in the UK back in
World War II was somewhat passed, but not when they did the original deal.
It wasn't a major advertised public event.
And apparently it is Riyadh season.
And the big events this Riyadh season are Crown Jewel, November 7th on October 31st,
Canelo Alvarez versus Christian Mbilly.
Excuse me if I'm getting that wrong.
And from October 21st to 24th,
Six Kingslam, which is a tennis event.
It sounds like if you were trying to target high profile of America,
Americans with the W.W.E. still coming out on top of that.
Yeah, and nothing, looking at these different events,
nothing has yet been announced or changed as of this morning.
But, you know, again, at a minimum,
ask them for more money, but I don't think there's any way you could justify
putting everyone at risk like that to go over.
More money you can't do like the Jake Robbins.
Roberts, okay, here, Scotty, take it and lock yourself in the rental car in the parking lot.
We'll spend the night at the airport.
Just a little more complicated fucking exit.
All righty.
And by the way, this is, you know, this is all happening right now.
Saudi Arabia is being attacked and at war with the Houthis right now.
And this event we're talking about is less than a month away.
So it's all imminent.
But the bigger question is going to be WrestleMania.
That's two nights.
I mean, that's two nights in the spring.
Yes, two nights in the spring is going to be the fucking advertising tagline, I think, for this year's WrestleMania,
because they can't announce the dates in public yet.
Think about that.
What will they do and how long would they wait before they make a decision on their biggest show of the year
being strung along for a hundred and something million dollars that they're going to be paying by this group of
Saudi Arabian multi-billionaires that run this fucking joint,
but they've got to literally go through hell with gasoline bridges on to get it.
Or they could just get their normal 60 or 65 million here in goddamn
Portland or something.
Yeah, what needs to be bombed for them to say, you know, we can't do this right now?
Maybe in the future, when things calm down, and, you know,
people don't have surface-to-air missiles or anything else.
I'm just trying to think,
if they told me in Knoxville,
yeah, you know, we're fine here,
but over in Beckley,
up in Beckley, West Virginia,
they're goddamn bombing a shit out of that.
I'd think I'd have goddamn moved a little farther away than Knoxville.
They bombed the high school,
and they bombed the library,
and they bombed the movie theater.
Oh, what about the,
arena. Not yet. Okay,
that's where our show is. Great.
Well,
actually, no.
The reason why, they didn't bomb our
the arena while our show was going on,
they were going for the maximum amount of casualties.
There was no need to bother with
but nevertheless.
Where's security? It's Beckley.
Where's security? Where's the security?
What are they doing? Why aren't they doing their
jobs? Well,
that was the Crockett show. Not to,
on the Smoky Mountain shows, we had a mount number.
but you didn't have the same security force though that's the point we could have handled it oh boy howdy
did we how they we i think the security force may have been sandy scott a stern look
because everybody in the building could see him there was nobody in the way of him
all righty then nevertheless moving along before we get to anything else i would just like
the results are in and vince russo is slightly less popular than necrophilia and of course
I'm referring to the ratings for my new series on Vice Sports YouTube,
Cornette's side of the ring.
A new episode comes out every Sunday at noon Eastern time,
and do the math if you're not in the Eastern time.
But the necrophilia angle in the WWE was the first episode.
Rousseau winning the WCW world title was the next episode.
and he's done slightly worse than necrophilia,
but the combined downloads for the first two weeks,
about two million.
So, Brian,
we may have to start checking to see
if I'm beating the raw numbers these days
because I knocked,
I knocked a shit out of Tony's the first week,
but we may be closing it on raw numbers with this.
Nevertheless,
and just so everybody knows what's up right now,
but the time you hear this is,
a wrestler at Misadventures on late-night television,
focusing on Cole Cogan, front face locking Richard Bellzer.
Of course, we've talked about that in detail here.
You can actually find those conversations on official Jim Cornett on YouTube,
and then look at the video while I talk about it again and see for yourself exactly what happened.
And upcoming episodes, Jim Hurd's insanity centering on the Black Scorpion,
the heel turn of Stone Cold Steve Austin, CM Punk's pipe bomb problem,
the WCW invasion and the Battle of the Billionaires,
Trump versus McMahon at WrestleMania,
I have thoughts.
And that's all on the Vice Sports YouTube channel Sundays,
noon Eastern time on Cornett side of the ring.
But, you know, it's a shame I was thinking,
to be honest with you,
that old shit stain might knock necrophilia out
of the number one slot so far,
but apparently he's just slightly less popular than improper relations with corpse,
which at least it beats that guy we heard about down in Owensboro way,
I think it was, having the carnal knowledge of the deer on the side of the road.
You know, he could get a job with the FBI now.
Yes, yeah, actually, he could.
He could.
Well, we don't want to disqualify on either side of the bestiality.
poor deer's dead so he would be able to apply.
Where was I going? Oh, the Christmas sale.
Ho, ho, ho. It's Christmas time, ladies and gentlemen.
At Jimcoranet.com, I've got an update, folks.
Thank you. It's been just over seven days since the official on sale.
And by the way, we are prepping now by the time you hear this,
personalizations of autographs will have begun and the little,
the elves that we got actually,
I don't know if they're elves or if Hotchkiss's sister is just a whore and had about six or seven kids,
but they're little things running around in green and red costumes,
but they're going to work the assembly line this year for Cornets collectibles, Brian.
And that is in the works.
We're going to be shipping the first items out the end of the week of the 12th.
And boy, howdy, thank you for the response, everybody out there.
but I will give you the update on on the photo portfolios,
the great wrestling champions, the 250 sets,
there are just under 90 left as I sit here,
but that clock is ticking every day.
And there's just over a hundred of the Memphis Wrestling Legends portfolio remaining.
You can go to Jimcournet.com and just click on collectibles.
You're going to see all this stuff, pictures and everything.
Even if you can't read, you can see.
what we're selling.
And there's
of the 500
copies of the Luthes
Autobiography Hooker,
we have about
250 left. So those
may not make Christmas
as well either. But all of the
information on the
on sale prices and the
discounts and the buy this and get
that and the up yours, all that stuff
at Jim Cornett.com.
That's right. This holiday
season, get your hooker
from Jim Cornett.
Well, it's only fair
because pimping ain't easy.
All righty.
Oh, this is going to be a, this,
God damn, this is a Casey K, some transition now,
but there's no really other way
than to go into it because it just came up this way.
But what about this poor referee in Mexico?
Brian, that this story just blew up out of nowhere
and I get they do indie,
independent, I don't know what they might call them down there,
but they do independent wrestling shows in Mexico,
the same as they do independent wrestling shows here in this country,
at varying levels of, you know, size and notoriety of whatever.
But so this wasn't AAA or CMLL, whatever,
but on some show somewhere,
they gave a wrestler, a referee, a package, a package pile driver,
and he died, and they've arrested the wrestler that did it.
And there's not a lot of concrete details, and I got a lot of questions,
but do you have the basic story there that we're being told?
I have an article here that was sent to us from Daily Express,
pro wrestler arrested after referee dies following band move during match.
Veteran wrestling referee, 75, dies in ring after being hit with a band move.
Gerardo Hermann Pineda, known as El Buho, or El Buho, I'm not exactly sure,
collapsed, unconscious during an event in Mexico on Tuesday.
The 75-year-old was officiating when he got caught up in the contest between Hiho de Fishman and Mascara Sagrada N.G.
Footage from the event reveals he took a martinet, also known as a pile driver, before laying still on the canvas in Mineral de la Reforma, Mexico.
Can I jump in for a second for some of the folks that may have got lost?
That, again, a martinet, and that's I'm sure not the Spanish pronunciation,
but that is what they have always called a pile driver in Lucille,
and as well, the pile driver legitimately is banned.
And a lot of the fans know that they have the wrestling commissions down there
actually have official rules and blah, blah, blah.
And it is a banned thing, but it's banned
pretty much as a work since the start of Lucha Libre
so that the heels could use.
Their version of the Pile Driver has always been
what now we refer to as the tombstone.
That was the Martinette.
But that expanded, like as ours did,
to include a tombstone from the regular Piled Driver,
theirs went the other way.
But now it's all Pile Drivers.
but the point is it's banned as a work
so that the heels could get heat
and that could be the ultimate move
and they've protected it somewhat
more than most things
even to this day, Brian, would you say in Mexico
where you don't just see that all the fucking time?
Yeah, I mean, it kind of goes to the point
you've always raised about protecting a move
and getting a move over and not bastardizing it
and the fact that a pile driver is almost a transition
nowadays and it doesn't need to,
to be, and it shouldn't be. Back to this article here,
the technique, the pile driver, that is,
had been outlawed in numerous countries after becoming
notorious for causing severe injuries.
And bless whoever this news agency
is, they're not smart.
Though it has made a comeback in a safer form
in recent years.
The wrestler stopped the match after realizing
El Bueho wasn't getting up,
leading paramedics to be called.
The referee was later declared dead at the location,
and Hiho de Fishman was arrested
and turned over to prosecutors on charges of culpable homicide.
Jesus Christ.
Essentially the equivalent of manslaughter in England and Wales.
Video footage, witness statements, and forensic evidence
are expected to form part of the investigation.
One spectator, Steph Heredia,
claimed the wrestler had argued with the official after his loss
before performing the move.
Here's her quote,
We all thought it was part of the show
because it is something that happens very commonly.
She added that El Buho, or Buho, excuse me,
displayed no reaction after the incident,
and that spectators immediately requested medical help.
Let me stop there, we'll talk about that,
but also the video that's going around
does not show the package pile driver.
It shows a slam.
I want to talk about whatever you saw on that,
but there is no video around of the pile driver that I've seen.
And that's the thing.
The same clip was going around on Twitter and all the accounts
of at some point in the match or whatever
or after the match he had given the referee a body slam,
and it was a regular body slam that the guy is 75 years old.
to that a second, but if you were going to slam a 75-year-old guy, this was about the best way to do it, right?
I'm saying, well, what the fuck's wrong? And then, as you said, it was later clarified that it was a
package pile driver. But here's the thing. Without seeing the footage to evaluate that, and these,
and it's Mexico and it's an independent show and maybe the major news media.
Even though they talk about part of the show, maybe they're not as up on what's going on or this was small town cops, whatever.
The only way that you could justify arresting the guy is if he wasn't supposed to do it and he grabbed this 75-year-old man and did it anyway and broke his fucking neck or did something of the pile driver is what killed a guy.
because I'm thinking was it a case of this guy's 75 he's taking a body slam he's refereeing maybe he's
having a heart attack and he's trying to finish his shit because that we've seen instances
of several guys I remember Larry Latham spot the Moondog in Memphis in the middle of a
battle royal had a heart attack and they didn't know it for a little while because he just kneeled
down the corner. The point is, if he's having a heart attack, but he's still on his feet,
and the guy goes for the spot that he's supposed to do and Pyle drives him and then he's out,
well, the guy's thinking he's selling, he's not going to be broke up about it because it's
part of the deal. And then what happened after that? There's no way to judge this without seeing the
actual footage, because, as you can see, even the news media here, they're not completely
smart to what fuck is going on.
A little bit more from this article.
The Martinette is considered one of Lucha Libre's most dangerous moves and is banned in Mexican
wrestling because of the risk of serious neck and spinal injuries.
Panetta had devoted decades to the sport.
wrestling for around 15 years under the name El Buho Negro 2, or the second.
I'm not sure.
It's Luchibri.
He later moved into refereeing almost by chance.
After substituting for an absent official, a role he would maintain for nearly 30 years.
During his career, he officiated matches featuring Mexican wrestling legends, including Mill Mosquorus, Kineck,
Dos Carus, El Hiro del Santo, Ultimo Guerrero, and Blue Panther.
His son, who performs as El Buho Jr., is also competing on the independent wrestling scene.
Hiho de Fishman, 35, is the son of renowned Mexican wrestler Fishman, known as the Green Venom.
He has continued his father's mass wrestling legacy for approximately 15 years, and performed
worldwide, including throughout the U.S., Japan, England, Canada, and Central America.
He works as a Ruto, one of Lucha Libre's villainous or rule-breaking characters, and was previously
caught on camera attacking a referee with a chair during a 2022 match in Mexico.
See?
Oh, he's cooked when they can take that to court and say, look, you've got a fucking history
of attacking a referee.
His promoter, El Patron, a spectacular.
is reportedly providing him with legal assistance while also staying in touch with Paneda's family members.
The investigation into the veteran referee's death remains ongoing.
Could they have protected the business so well in this town?
That all this could happen?
I'm just saying that there's a lot of questions that need to be.
be answered here.
And
here's another question that brings up
if they were, let's say that
AW is in
Detroit
or Cleveland or
fucking Denver,
wherever.
And somebody
either is supposed to
hit somebody with something
or pick
somebody up and throw them
through something and they do it
and, you know, doesn't turn out well.
Does the local, what would the local cops do?
Because if you have, they call the authorities when Owen Hart had his accident.
But obviously he was no longer, they had taken him away in the ambulance,
but it becomes a police scene.
If somebody is actually boom right there, then they shut that shit down.
then would somebody get arrested?
If it was a 75-year-old man, I don't know.
Well, it's here that, yes.
It's compounding.
We've seen my guy, and I was not in favor in case anybody wants to know of poor Mullah and May Young at 80, whatever it was, doing what they were doing.
I didn't have any say in the matter.
But, you know, even guys in their 60s, that's,
but that's why I'm saying it's not far-fetched to imagine
that a 75-year-old man who'd already been physically active
in the match and physically involved,
as well as refereeing, it might be having a heart attack
and not just tell the guy,
don't fucking do this.
I'm having a heart attack.
And, you know, what the fuck?
Or was it a really bad botch
on a package pile driver?
But that would,
the package pile driver
makes it honestly,
if they do it right,
somewhat easier to take than a regular
one.
So you'd have to almost
really with
authority try to stick
somebody. I don't know.
From the photo we saw,
which I know the authenticity of it has been
questioned, but I've heard that it was the real photo.
They stopped filming after the match, and this happened after the match,
but they took a picture.
He was in the air.
You know, this wasn't like a fall-down pile driver.
He put him in the position and jumped
So, I mean, it's...
Well, but then that...
See, that's the thing is...
I'm trying to figure out how
with a package pile driver,
he's reached down, he's got the guy's legs,
so the guy's already bent up.
And when the guy jumps up,
it's actually, you've got less of your head
exposed through the guy's legs
because of the way you're bent,
then you do in a normal pile driver.
So your head
and neck are more protected,
but it is the
concussive effect of you
being folded up, even going the right
way at a high rate of speed,
womp,
that if a guy's 75
may have
caused a spinal issue, but otherwise
I don't see how
that that could be
a fatal fucking move. Jesus
Christ, I don't know what's going
on these days.
We'll see what else we can find out, but a lot
of it is still up in the air. I saw a mugshot of Fishman Jr. or
he-ho-do-fish man. Smiling. I got, it was a weird photo. They blurred at his eyes,
but they just showed a guy standing there smiling. You would think if you accidentally
killed a man who, I'm guessing you've been around many times. You wouldn't be doing that.
Would you be standing there good? I can't believe you get arrested me for this fucking
shit, especially if it was a good pile driver.
Brian, you never know.
You never know.
You never know, Brian, you never know.
See, that's the way we're going to start this next segment of the program.
You never know the truth behind things.
Because there's always, as Paul Harvey said, the rest of the story.
And I am hearing a story here that's, it's, I guess it happened a number of years ago,
but it happened to MJF, our friend MJF, who used to wrestle for AEW.
I don't know what he does for a living now.
Hopefully he's moved on.
But he's told it a couple times here lately, even though it happened a while back,
and it's a shocking tale.
It's a story of how, you know, we've had stories on our show here to pass
of how these fans used to be obsessive and violent and stalking.
and they'd come after you in the arena or they'd go after your car or whatever the case may be.
MJF, apparently, at an event very early on in the AEW existence was almost kidnapped by some
impersonator.
Is this what I'm hearing?
He's told his story a couple different places here lately.
Yeah, and we have some audio we can play.
I believe the story was that a pilot approach.
him backstage and tried to abduct him.
And actually, one of the things I have here, the title of the video, is literally
abduction from the Adam Friedland Show, wherever that is.
Good to see Adam back out of the joint and on his way to rehabilitation.
Do you want me to play you some of this audio?
Sure, I'd love to hear this story firsthand.
All right, here's some of it.
Apparently there's a longer cut I also have here, but let me go to this.
He was honest.
He said he was going to abduct me.
An adult man?
So I'm at a show in Chicago.
My father had just had a heart attack.
Don't fucking worry.
I gave him, Matt.
So I'm there.
I'm pretty distraught.
I'm worried about my dad.
He ended up being okay.
And a pilot walks up to me.
And he goes, Mr. Friedman, I'm going to be flying you out back home after the show's proceedings.
Which, to be fair, I've flown on the jet a couple times with my boss up to that point anyway.
So I find my boss after this pilot says this to me, and I knock on his door, he opens the door.
He goes, Matt.
I go, that's me.
I want you to know how much this means to me
the fact that you're trying to fly me back home to my dad
as soon as possible after he had the heart attack.
Because he did know.
My boss, Tony, did know.
And he goes, what the fuck are you talking about?
And I go, the pilot just told,
he goes, I didn't book you a jet to go back home tonight.
And then security comes and they grab this guy.
And QT goes, before the guy leaves,
he goes, wait a minute, wait a minute.
We'll let you say if you show us your pilot's license.
And the guy, I sh-h-h-you-not, does this.
Get the fuck out of here.
Well, that was the short clip of it, Jim.
There's an extended one, but any thoughts about this one?
Well, I'm thinking, boy, MJF dodged a bullet here.
But, you know, there had to be a little more.
Well, you said this clip is longer.
I'm thinking there's got to be more conversation.
You know, wouldn't MJF have said, okay,
make sure when you got the plane all revved up,
like Flair used to, make sure we have some,
Sabatinos take out and cooler full of beer?
Give him his, what, the rider and his contract or anything like that?
Well, let's see.
This is apparently an extended cut.
A pilot walks up to me, and he goes, Mr. Friedman, I'm going to be flying you out back home
after the show's proceedings, which, to be fair, I've flown on the jet a couple times
with my boss up to that point anyway.
To the island.
Not to the island.
Okay, sorry.
Well, to the island, as in Long Island, the only island that matters.
Yeah, yeah.
So, there's no pedophilia going on.
Little State, Long Island.
So, Long Island.
La Geeland.
There you go.
The hell is happening.
So I'm, I find my boss after this pilot says this to me, and I knock on his door, he opens
the door, he goes, Max, I go, that's me.
Uh, I want you to know how much this means to me the fact that you're trying to fly me
back home to my dad as soon as possible after he had the heart attack.
Because he did know.
My boss, Tony didn't.
Yeah.
And he goes, what the fuck are you talking about?
And I go, the pilot.
told you he goes I didn't fucking book you a jet to go back home tonight so now I go back over
with one of my bosses like one of the EVPs in the company QT Marshall and QT
goes so who you say hired you again he goes Tony Khan Tony Khan's my boss we go okay um
are you sure about that and then security comes and they grab this guy and and QT goes before
the guy leaves he goes wait a minute wait a minute
let you say if you show us your pilots license and the guy I shit you not does this
I left it at home get the fuck out of here so so then they fucking throw like I
guess they like throw the guy in whatever you call it the brig or whatever they
take him fucking how did he get access to you we still don't know how we got
backstage we still don't know how we got back so to be fair though our
security change team has changed since then but and it probably was the building
security not even AEW security fault but they
asked this guy, what were you
planning on doing? And
he was honest. He said he was
going to fucking abduct me.
An adult man? An adult man.
Well, there it is.
MJF was going to be abducted by
an adult man who happened to
be either a pilot or
playing as a pilot, but
we don't know how he got backstage.
There's a lot of mystery to this whole story.
Mystery.
Mystery. It's a conundrum.
Brian last. But you know,
But that's the thing is, I wondered if it's possible.
Maybe could somebody have been just ribbing MJF?
You know, that's what you don't hear about anymore in a wrestling business.
They used to be the classic ribbers.
It would play jokes and pranks on some of the other boys to keep everybody in a lightened mood,
except maybe sometimes a guy that got played on.
Or like Johnny Valentine welding a guy's car to a parking meter or, you know,
that type of thing or the old
Mabel rib that got pulled on
guys in every territory in the world.
You don't hear about
any good ribs anymore.
The people of the boys really believe
because nobody can fucking rib anymore.
But ladies
and gentlemen,
and MJF if he's listening
because he's going to find out something here
for the very first time,
I would like
to introduce you to one of the great
ribs of modern day
wrestling, courtesy of cult of Cornett member and our friend of the show here, Captain Eddie
Colross.
And I know for a fact exactly what's going on here because I was here, or I was there,
when the actual episode began, something that MJF is not even aware of.
Because this was not an attempted abduction, ladies and gentlemen.
this was a receipt
and I have the back story
because we have been contacted by
and Brian
where would
where would
the people listen to
the programs where I was in from 2019
where I was doing the commentary
for MLW, Major League Wrestling
I did about five or six sets
of TV tapings for them that's where I
first met and worked with MJF.
And the last one I was there that I did for them
was the one they did at that giant tool shed
in Milwaukee, or a suburb of Milwaukee.
That was the, what, the summer of 2019.
Can they listen to those on the YouTube?
Because I tell the story I'm about to refresh people on.
I believe those would be either on the Arcadian Vanguard
video channel or
on the official Jim Cornett video channel, but also you recently, when I say recently, within the last
two years, talked about Captain Eddie. I don't remember. Oh, no, we've talked about cheese
burgers or what it was a bit? Yes, he just retired here several months ago and we wished him well,
him and his sexy wife. But Captain Eddie at this, I was standing out back with, I'm trying to
think somebody of possibly my cohort in broadcasting rich bikini the announcer or whoever i was doing a show
with whatever because we were in this building and the outskirts of milwaukee as i said that already
they had a generator hooked up to the back of it just to power the with a tv truck and the equipment
they had and they had been having issues with that and then there's a giant thunderstorm coming in and
the fucking clouds are getting dark,
and I'm starting to have flashbacks
to beware of dog in South Carolina in 95, right?
We'll go off the fucking air.
And this guy comes up to me,
and it's Captain Eddie Cole Ross,
and he had already somehow found my phone number
and left me phone messages,
so I recognized him.
He comes up to me with a bag of Wendy's,
as delivery for Mr. Cornett.
I said, what the fuck?
And did he identify,
He testified himself and I got a couple triple cheeseburgers and I let him in free.
And I told somebody go tell Kurt Bauer I just gave away one of his fucking tickets.
And at that taping, that's where this whole thing began.
But I will, should I go ahead and read Captain Eddie's letter to us?
Please.
I think everyone wants to hear what's going on here.
Yeah.
Well, dear Jim and Brian, this is Captain Eddie Colruss.
I'm writing to you today because I recently discovered I'm at the center of an entirely different piece of wrestling, wrestling mythology than the infamous Wendy's Triple Cheeseburger story at the MLW tapings.
For the last few years, apparently, MJF has been doing interviews with the likes of the New York Post and the Adam Friedland show, claiming a fake pilot tried to abduct him backstage at AEW All-Out 2019 in Chicago.
Jim, Brian, the fake pilot was me, a very real commercial pilot,
and it wasn't a kidnapping, it was a receipt.
Back in July 2019 at the MLW show,
MJF threw a heel tantrum and ripped my wired Bose headphones off,
launching my phone over the guardrail.
So apparently he had his goddamn headphones, earbuds, whatever the fuck.
he had, plugged into his phone, and when MJF was going back pitching his tantrum, he caught the
wire and jerked the fucking sit Captain Eddie's phone flying. I vowed to get him back. Fast forward to
the Sears Center at All-Out 2019. I got backstage in my actual pilot's uniform, walked right up to
a distraught max, and told him I was his charter flight home. When he got confused, I dropped the line
I guess it's only if you win tonight, otherwise you'll be taking the bus back to New York City.
When QT, Marshall, and security cornered me and asked to see a pilot's license,
I patted by pocket, said, oops, I left it at home and walked out.
MJF was so completely and utterly worked by that line that he genuinely believed
a crazed fan in a costume tried to abduct him,
and he has been telling the media that true crime story ever since.
He has no idea that a real pilot and a cornet listener used old school psychology
to get a receipt for a broken pair of headphones.
So he, it was not, uh, he was not criminally charged or detained or
sentenced or anything like that, uh, but it, it helps the story, but.
But what was the intended payoff?
Like, what was the payoff to the rib here?
Because he didn't know that QT and security were going to corner him and
asked for a pilot's license.
We'll see that.
How far was he?
I mean, it sounds like he may have actually been trying to have done to MJF.
No, the thing is, he actually had a pilot's license.
He was at the time until he retired several months ago, a very real licensed commercial airline
pilot.
He's called me from fucking Thailand or wherever the fuck on runs.
But he didn't, he just said oops and he left.
He just wanted to see what would fucking happen.
And what did you say all?
out 2019?
Yes, which was shortly after this happened.
Wow, yeah, that was at very beginning of AEW, right?
That was right before Dynamite started.
Yes, that's right.
When MJF got out of his MLW shows, yeah.
Telling me, goddamn, yeah, you wouldn't believe how much this fucking guy's paying.
I'm fucking can't wait to get over there.
Huh.
Captain Eddie.
Captain Eddie, MJF.
It was Captain Eddie all along, MJF.
see don't fuck with our listeners personal property
but what do you think MJF's going to think hearing this
you think he's going to think okay it wasn't a crazy fan
and what do you think this says about our audience
well no okay I'll tell you I've said many times
captain eddy's crazies of rainbow trout and a car wash
I mean it's not like captain eddy's a normal person
but he actually fooled he worked the worker here
captain eddie will just walk up to you with a straight face
and say shit just see what happens
that's what Cap Nettie'll do.
I think when you're wearing a pilot's uniform,
you can kind of get away with a little more than the average person.
Well, yes, he just cruised on back there,
tipped his cap to people and fucking,
boom, there you go.
Because he looked official.
That's what I'm saying.
Perception is reality.
It's the same thing.
It's the two guys with a ladder principle.
You know the two guys with a ladder principle.
I don't know.
Two guys.
carrying a
fucking ladder
can get in
anywhere.
If you just,
two guys carrying a
fucking ladder
just walk to a
goddamn door.
Motion to
somebody to hold
the door open
for you.
They will.
You're going to
work.
Two guys with a ladder
can get into the
fucking Pentagon.
Nobody is going to stop
two guys
with a fucking ladder.
Do you think
that would be a good tag team?
Two guys with a ladder?
It might be these days
because they could
bring their own.
That way they would be.
just all their matches are ladder matches.
Do you feel bad that you took this story away from MJF?
No, because it's a proof that ribs still exist in the wrestling business,
even if the people that do them aren't in the wrestling business.
Is that allowed?
See, is it a real rib if the person doing it isn't in the inner circle, so to speak?
Oh, well, it's even better because now it's got to the point where the fans are ribbing the boys.
and he said that was all out 2019
and MJF said in that interview
that they have new security
that was the old
what was an Atlas security from ECW
they just let some pilot
well actually
no actually
though he said it was probably more
the building security
I'm not taking it up for Atlas security either
but nevertheless
you got it into a major building
you got a fucking
they shouldn't be able to have got to
Atlas security
The Atlas security protects the guys when they go out in the arena,
not in the backstage area where the building people are supposed to have.
All right, but hey, Cap Mettie was two guys with a fucking ladder.
Nobody's going to stop them.
Well, we will keep everyone posting on the adventures of Captain Eddie.
Sounds like a new serial that we'll be debuting here on the show.
Find out what other wrestlers Captain Eddie can trick and confuse.
Well, folks, you know, that's a thing is you're going to be confused and you're going to be tricked,
you're going to be horn swoggled, flim, flam, you're going to have shenanigans pulled on you.
Tom Foolery is going to be waged against you.
If you don't concentrate, if you don't focus, if you don't think about what's going on around your,
Brian, if you don't just have just an alertness about you, just an alertness in today's world,
not only with the hustle and the bustle, but to hurry and to scurry, but also,
the dangers and the strangers.
You got to keep your head
on a swivel these days.
You got to stay on point.
You got to be focused and nothing helps you focus,
ladies and gentlemen, better
that our friends at Ultra
and the pouches that they make
that will focus you right in,
they will laser hone you in
on what you're doing.
They'll give you energy.
They'll give you stamina.
They'll give you concentration.
Then large numbers,
they'll give you the ability.
to walk on walls.
They won't give you that.
Well, you might think you are.
Well, again, what happens in your minds?
That's different. That's a different
thing and not a feature that is a part
of the ultra pouches.
Well, perception is reality.
If you think you're walking on the wall,
chances are you're walking on the fucking wall,
baby. But I'll tell you
what.
Is dancing on the ceiling? Is that the same as walking on the wall?
No, no, no. They couldn't
get licensed for the dancing on the ceiling.
pouches over at Ultra. They got to change congressional approval for that. But folks, right now,
let's talk about how you can ditch the nicotine and the caffeine, the incredible cups of coffee
that you drink every day or the energy drinks that make your heart race and your liver quiver
and your spleen turn green. Your sleep is going to be worse because you got the, you got the
hebi-jeebies and the jimmy legs. Or are you feeling nicotine?
routine withdrawal if you don't have that pouch or that thing that constricts your,
your veins and allows your blood to be flowing into opposite directions.
Do you realize, Brian, what happens if your right side blood is flowing clockwise,
your left side blood's flowing counterclockwise?
While when it meets in the middle, that's where you have your stroke.
And then what's going to happen to you?
They're going to have to fucking leave you on the curb just laying there like a piece of trash
until they come and pick you up.
But do you want to stay away from the nicotine
and the caffeine for all those reasons?
And that's why.
Yes, you do want to do that.
Ultra doesn't have any of that stuff.
No.
Not a bit of it.
No.
They use clinically proven neutropics and adaptogens
to deliver focus and smooth energy
that last one to two hours.
And boy, howdy, if you can last one to two hours
at anything anymore, well, that's doing good.
And they use infinity,
px L-theonine alpha gpc and not only vitamin b-sex but B-Sex or B-6 and B-12 because between the B-6
to B-12 you'll B-Sexe but that'll balance you out also nothing's balancing this out I
don't think but they're plant-powered pouches gentlemen designed to sharpen your mind and
lift your energy with no nicotine no caffeine
No crash, no hangover.
Lots of applause for me.
You're like the boogeyman.
Oh, man.
Woo.
Messia, I can't take it no more.
If you're fasting or even slowing,
if you're slowing down, these will perk you up.
But if you're fasting or on a diet,
they actually help quiet cravings and suppress appetite.
So you just take these and boy, howdy.
and when your little
craving start to go
feed me, feed me, it'll say
shut up, it'll hit it in a head
and it'll suppress
your appetite. You won't want
to eat your mother's cooking after you get
a load of one of these things. Don't say
that. This has
a lot of good things that it could do for you
that won't bother your
mama, enjoy mama's cooking,
but also focus.
Focus.
Well,

J.C.E.
Ultra!
All right.
Well, Brian, I heard a news story recently that I had to focus on because I thought I read the
headline wrong the first time, but apparently they're giving out new W.
W.E. Legends deals, and you don't even have to be a W.W. legend
because it was in the news, and people were talking about here just a few days ago,
they have given a legends deal to Necrow Butcher.
And he's the one that announced this.
I think you have his announcement there in a second, but,
and I'm not trying to disparage Necro Butcher.
But not only did he never work for the company at all whatsoever,
but I would be hard pressed to imagine on who in that company he was on their radar to begin with,
if not for, do we know that Nick Kahn is now a dark side of the ring viewer?
That because has necro butcher been on television gotten any publicity of note or,
been advertised in any fashion in years and years, except for that episode this past season on
his match with Samoa Joe. Was that the catalyst? Because why now? Why him? I have questions.
Well, you're focusing on the necro butcher. A lot of people seem to think that because of the
success of your dark side of the ring, special cornet side of the ring on necrophilia,
ushered in a new era, a necro renaissance in WW,
and they're going after every necro wrestler they could find.
And then they're going to move them all to Necropolis
and let them, well, not live there, but you know what I mean.
No, I don't, and I don't want to.
Well, so what about this deal here?
What are the, here is my legitimate question as just a small town wrestling
business man.
what are they going to market?
What are the, is it like, does he come with an assemblage of plastic toy breakaway chairs or barbed wire?
Is it a barbed wire kit that you can wrap you and your friend up in barbed wire that won't stick you really?
Or what is going on here?
I don't know.
It's raised questions from a number of people about, you know, what could this really mean?
Are they going to buy the CZW?
catalog? You know, because that's the only
kind of okay shot wrestling with him that would
wait a minute. Their biggest broadcast partner
turns the screen black and white when blood shows up and goes
black whenever somebody gets hit with a car door.
You think they're going to show anything that Necro Butcher
ever fucking did? Maybe they want to make them a general manager?
Of what? Springdale Automotive? What the...
I don't know. They see some sort of
of a way to make money with this or they wouldn't do it, whether it's merchandise,
whether it's merchandise, what else could it be?
Merchandise or merchandise could be merchandise.
What else could it really be, I think?
Could he be a speaker to go around, because he's, as we mentioned,
and speak about overcoming bizarre.
No, now listen to it.
We don't know that he overcame that.
That's like a question.
When did you stop beating your.
wife. Well, how can he answer that? But to go, we know he's also part of his bizarre story as he's a
genius. And so could he go to schools and speak on kids? Don't do the stupid things that all of the
wrestlers do to cripple themselves. I mean, what? Why would he do that? What is the hook here?
Why wouldn't he go out there and say, do it all. They'll give me a deal anyway. You don't even have to
wrestle there. I'm going to Aruba.
or Jamaica
because I want to take you
WWE's just announced they've signed Rick Ratchet
to a legends contract
so we'll see what kind of merchandise
comes out of that deal
the international man of mystery and male
escort Rick Ratchet
a boy gone bad they're just signing up everybody
Morgis the Maniac has just signed a
WWE Legends contract
but that's we've got to
okay here's the thing
I want everybody mark us down in your
little daily booklets, we need to see what comes out of a necro butcher product or a
necro butcher project or something from the WW.
Oh, come on.
No, I mean, from the WWE corporate umbrella, whether it's video, audio, merchandise,
whatever the fuck it is, that's what we've got to find out because what are they going to
market. That is my
question. He was in the wrestler.
I mean, that was what he was. That was 20 fucking years ago.
But he did it. It's about the accomplishment. No, he did, but I'm saying, what is this
timing about? He didn't even apply. It's not like you apply for
they came to him. What prompted this? I don't know. Here's the statement from
D.K. Summers on Facebook. That's Dylan Summers, a.
and Necro Butcher.
I have signed a basic legends deal
with the WWE.
The offer actually came in
the day after I walked out of my job.
The timing was ridiculous.
Now, the door is open
for various projects,
which have already been discussed.
But I'm taking
things slow.
Tell us more! What does this say
about my career?
A man who never worked there.
but he worked hard everywhere he went, and still will.
I will not miss my scheduled shows,
and definitely will not be making any apology videos or speeches.
I've worked hard, both for myself and for my fans.
Nothing was more important to me than credibility and believability.
I hope this leads to more opportunities for guys who've never got to.
that call to the big time.
This is our reward.
Let's enjoy this together.
And there's a image attached to it of
all parties finished. Dylan Summers'
W.W.E. Nostalgia agreement.
This is the deal. And the three people attached to it,
World Wrestling Entertainment Inc. Dylan Keith Summers,
that's Necro Butcher and Nickcom.
But I'm just the nostalgia deal from the
WW. We remember back to these glorious days of 30 years ago, we wouldn't give this guy the time
of fucking day, much less a job. What is the nostalgia? And what are you going to show from the
I mean, again, CZW's catalog, best of my knowledge is out there. Whatever he did with the
CZW Ring of Honor feud that was with Ring of Honor, Tony Kahn owns that. After that, his career
to my knowledge, not that it petered out, but it just kind of,
he disappeared for a number of.
I don't know, those first two sounded a little petery to me, but
nevertheless, I made, you know, good for him that he had just
said, take this job and shove it the previous day and got this
day, but I am, this is a mystery, this is an enigma,
what are they going to sell? This is what I can't wait to find out.
I mean, but action figures for the people who collect, you know, the noted indie stars.
I mean, past that, I'm not sure.
I don't, did Nick Con just see that show and say, well, that guy, let's cut him a check.
I could see a lot of T-shirts being sold of him.
Maybe.
Maybe.
That's what they looked at Danhaus and they said, they saw merchandise.
That's all they saw.
Well, I can say, and people were talking about Dan Housen already, and he was new and he was, he was hip, he was one of the fresh in-crowd-it type of kids.
But with her without it, Necrow Butcher got a deal.
Speaking of action figures, Brian, as we do from time to time here on the program, there was a set of action figures that was supposed to come out of a noted tagging.
team from the 90s, the
team of J.C.
ice and Wolfie D. PG-13.
And we reported that
unfortunately that deal
had hit a snag because
Jamie Dundee
had an issue
with the figures. And
if anybody wants to hear this whole
discussion, that's on
official Jim Cornett on YouTube.
Also, right now you can go
back and refresh yourself.
but the way that Jamie expressed his displeasure to the figure maker
was such that the figure maker no longer wanted to make no figures of him
any way anyhow.
And who could blame him?
And who could blame him?
And who could blame him.
And the guy who ended up figureless in all of this,
who apparently was an innocent bystander just caught to fucking the back swing on this,
was poor old Wolfie D who, as often tag team partners do,
when their partner fucks up, he got Igied out of the deal also.
And apparently now he has issued a statement clarifying his,
I've not heard this, I've not read this, I've not seen this, you've got it there,
but he's hopefully clarifying his position where he stands in this entire matter.
Yeah, there's a bunch here.
So let's go to this.
This is from Wolfie D on social media.
So here we go.
You'll want to read on.
I've been sitting on this for almost a week now.
Jamie Dundee sent me a message last Wednesday
after two weeks of the action figure deal
getting blown out of the water
that I orchestrated two years ago.
I contacted the action figure company out of China.
His name is Sean.
And he has done nothing but be really good to me
and obviously to Jamie.
And we had guaranteed money.
money. No matter we sold one pair or the whole 500, we were guaranteed money. And it was a good
idea. And as I said, I orchestrated the whole deal. And I've always done everything I could to
help me and Jamie. And by the way, having worked with both fellows, and no one, not having seen
them at a while, but knowing them during
initial parts of their
tag team, he's telling the truth,
is what I'm trying to say.
Jamie, I guess, is unaware of what
Hasbro throwbacks are supposed to
look like. I thought
the prototypes look good.
They are not supposed to be actual sculpts.
They are characters of yourself.
And he did not like that.
And instead of contacting the company
and the owner directly,
he decided to go on Facebook and bury
the company and bury the
owner and also called them a bunch of names that are not cool.
And then last Wednesday, I received a message from Jamie, and I'm going to post it here for you
all to see, because everybody that thinks Jamie is such a good guy, I would like for you to know
he is not. And it has nothing to do with the death of his father. Jamie's always been
and I'm assuming it's going to be asshole. It's A and several stars. And so on postings,
posting the message that I got from him, and then he blocked me.
So I couldn't respond, but this is what a douche he is, and I'm sorry I have to do this.
So let me stop there before I get to Jamie's message.
What are your thoughts?
Well, I'm not highly surprised because when we heard the original kerfuffle, it was obvious
that Jamie had just gone off on this guy in public, and the guy had in his response had even
said Wolfie's been nothing but a gentleman and we wish we could work together,
blah, blah, blah, but this is the problem when when you're noted for being a tag team,
it limits your opportunities when one member of the team is a knucklehead.
And that's, this is entirely believable, like I said, from knowing both of these guys.
And remember I've told you the story?
I had to fire fucking Jamie Dundee one time
when he didn't even work for me.
I've told that story a million times in Memphis,
Port Randy Hales.
He had just,
he fired him once before,
and it just agreed to bring him back.
And Jamie made like a week and a half of TV and shows
and everything was fine.
And then TV,
one Saturday morning comes live TV at Channel 5.
And he and Wolfie had checked in the hotel the night before.
and Wolfie wet sleep,
when he woke up, Jamie wasn't there.
And he still wasn't there like 15 minutes before TV started.
And Randy came up to me.
He's like, oh, what would you do?
I said, I'd fucking fire him.
I said, you just had a problem, and you brought him back,
and they said, okay, and then he does this two weeks in.
I'd fire him.
So Jamie straggles in five minutes later,
10 minutes before airtime.
And I see Randy and him,
they're called down to the hall.
Randy says, you know,
Jim, would you come with me?
I'm thinking, what the fuck?
Am I the goddamn muscle here?
And we go in the stairwell
and Randy says, Jamie,
Jim's got something he wants to tell you.
I said, Jamie, you're fired.
He said, I don't even work for you.
I said, I know, but you're still fired.
It's it.
But that's, you know,
The last time that I saw, Jamie was Mick Foley.
This was 15 years ago, I bet you.
Mick Foley did one of his comedy shows here at the comedy club in Louisville.
And I think I went and I think rest of the night, Rip Rogers may have come.
But the word was out like is like a fucking picture of the Unabomber up of the back door.
Like Jamie Dundee's coming.
And they had to tell the fucking club.
don't either don't serve him any drinks or only serving him two drinks or and they had to they were telling
Mick like don't don't call on him if he asked a question don't if he raise his hand if he says it don't
call on him i think there was some brief interaction and cactus moved on but uh yeah yeah
but anyway let's get to let's get back to jamie this is the message i received from jamie after he
blew up our action figure deal that I orchestrated two years ago,
obviously effed up.
And I'm going to do my best here.
Jamie has a very unique grasp of English or choice of English or his style of writing is a...
It's a new age style of writing.
Yeah.
I mean, I was going to say Carrowack drunk, but Carrowack was drunk.
Carrowack's super fucking drunk, but let's go to this.
Kerouac on crack.
Fuck you, turn cozy motherfucker.
You've always been a fence-jumping motherfucker.
Who's killing?
God damn it.
Hold on me.
This is Jamie to his tag team partner.
Of 30 years.
We're going to get through this, folks.
Fuck you, turn cozy motherfucker.
You've always been a fence-jumping motherfucker.
who's got on every fucking sinus media and bashed me
and fucking never has my back in any situation.
You're not loyal to nobody.
I'm in your life.
And that's why you're going to die alone
without enough people to even carry your coffin.
You fucking drunk, whining, fucking dickhead.
But you know why?
That's why you fucking are where you are today.
There's a lot of spelling errors.
Sorry, folks.
So fuck you, dude.
And karma gets everybody.
That needs it.
And you're getting yours as we speak.
So fuck off, dude.
I'm done with your kind in my life.
So see you in hell, motherfucker.
Jesus Christ!
It's one of the fucking longest cuss-outs and sign-offs I've ever heard.
Fuck off with you.
I'm done with you.
By the way, I'll see you in hell.
We'll get together down in hell.
Have a fine hot old time.
I did my best there.
There's no commas.
Eventually at the end there's not even period.
It's just dot dots to lead to the next thought.
And everything is spelled wrong.
Motherfuck is M-Y-T-H-A-Fucker.
So, I mean, that one's not too bad.
We should got fucker there, but mother's off the chump.
At least he can spell the important parts.
Well, that escalated quickly.
and poor old love what's the fellow's name
Sean Ng was the figure maker in question
who had said that
well you know everything seemed to be
fight but this supplied a needed
part of the puzzle Brian
because now we know that it's even stupid
or we thought it was to begin with
we knew that Jamie didn't like the figures
and we just didn't know what he didn't like
about him. That was never articulated, but
now he thought, well,
you know the, what is it, the LJN,
whatever the fuck. The Hasbro style.
The Hasbro style. Yeah.
He didn't know what the fucking Hasbro style was.
He thought that they were trying to make their upper half
fucking three times as big as it was in the skinny leg or
whatever the,
the style is. Can you articulate what the style is?
I mean, it's hard to express what the style is, but you kind of know it.
And maybe sometimes when you put a figure
together of a wrestler who, you know, didn't have a six-pack,
sometimes they end up with a six-pack.
Sometimes wrestlers that did not have cut arms end up with highly defined arms.
But it's more of a caricature rather than actually supposed to look exactly like the fucking guy.
Yeah, I mean, it's three and three-quarter inches tall.
So it usually has some...
Well, that with Jamie, it's kind of to scale, right?
I feel bad for Wolfey throughout this whole thing.
And obviously you could tell him meant something to him to put this deal together,
and it was his deal.
And you could understand that.
It was his deal.
And there was no reason for J.B. Dundee to do any of this.
Unless he's just rolling in money and looking to burn everyone he's ever met.
Why do this?
I'll go along with the second half of that without the first half.
And I think you may have reached the point.
Was he cool with Bobby?
because you never think you never think about that you always hear like dun d'i was
bobby's father-in-law but you never hear like yeah jamy dundee was his brother-in-law
yeah well they were traveling for many many years in different social circles so i don't know
that they saw each other all that often so that may have helped potentially i mean who could
have a problem with bobby and possibly if anybody it might be but i don't think they did because
they didn't coexist that much.
Jamie's been, from what I understand,
often the wilds of
Western Kentucky or Southern Indiana out there
or somewhere for quite some time.
He had adventures out there with local promotions.
Fuck you, turn cozy motherfucker.
You've always been...
Turn cozy?
That's what it says here.
What is a turn cozy?
Is it a fucking thing that keeps a turn cozy?
warm and it doesn't sweat on the counter.
Fence jumping motherfucker.
Once again, Sean Eng from KWK, they do really good wrestling figures and they just
did great Kabuki and Tenru.
And obviously they won't be doing Jamie Dundee.
And we hope that the the Tenru and Kabuki figures are
well received by the relatives of those folks
or elsewise they may have some kind of brawl there as well.
Oh, here's a statement from Tenru.
Fuck you turn cozy motherfucker.
If I'd have had that gimmick,
I'd have had a personality too.
All right.
Anyway, I guess we've made that point,
but there's another point.
that needs to be made.
And I'm not sure what it is,
except that someone needs to possibly look into a conservatorship
type of arrangement for Uncle Dave Meltzer.
This is what I'm thinking now,
because is he living by himself?
Is he a danger to himself and others,
not because of any violent instincts,
but just because his brain may be melting in ways,
that we don't fully understand by medical science yet,
that now he's offended when people ask him about shit that he wrote or said
to the point where he's trying to play the dead dog card.
Brian, I know I'm talking in circles here,
but this is a very hard issue to understand between Uncle Dave Meltzer
and the poor beleaguered interviewer, Chris Blanblenblit.
I mean, I think there's a few issues here.
And all kidding aside, and we're going to have fun with this.
Just really looking at it, and obviously you don't get along with Dave anymore.
But I think looking at this from afar,
someone needs to talk to Dave,
and someone needs to tell Dave that him going on Twitter and behaving the way he does
and magnifying issues by constantly fighting with people who are barely active on social media
is not doing anything to help him,
certainly not to help his legacy.
You know, we'll get to the actual context
of what this is about.
But I think Dave on Twitter has gotten,
I mean, it's been a while, but I mean,
it's so out of hand.
It's not gotten out of hand.
It's out of hand.
And at some point,
someone convinced him that this would be good for business
to get on Twitter.
And either he thinks he's boosting his business
by behaving like this
or he just can't stop.
But I think someone
should talk to Dave
and just, you know, we have fun with it,
but he should get off fucking Twitter.
Well, and also, the problem is
is that he looks worse
than you would even think
when he tries to explain,
I've started to watch part of this clip
and then I said, well, we're going to talk about it,
but the captioning was on
and I was watching as I put my
headset down so I wouldn't hear because I said
I'm going to wait till we play it here
but I saw the captioning and I was mesmerized
because it was oh and well and you know
and it was just I'm thinking my God
his whole problem is he cannot
justify what he keeps writing
about these stupid star ratings
but the fact that he just, he will literally rate a match where one of the participants has projectile vomiting in the middle of it, the other one shits their pants, but if they did a spectacular dive off the top rope in a brand new way, he'll give it five stars.
And now, even when he's asked just innocuous questions like, well, explain to us, you know, anything.
Oh my God!
He's being the victim of attack dog journalism.
Yeah, again, I mean, it all comes back to his activity on social media,
and that's a general thing.
This magnifies the issue, the topic here.
But then it comes down to these star ratings, like you said.
He can't coherently explain his protocol or the strategy behind it
And he also at the same time thinks he is explaining it.
Oh, it's obvious to everybody.
And what he says, it makes no sense to anyone.
It's also changed over the years because, you know, we've heard things like,
I don't like this match, but five stars, or, you know, it matters what the room thinks
more than what I think.
But then you're like, okay, I mean, I don't remember if Hogan versus Andre was negative stars
or dud, but the room loved it.
You know, Rock Hogan is always the one people point to.
that was always the big thing before this
Kurt Angles shit blew up
the big one was how did you only
give Rock Hogan, whatever it was,
like three and a half stars
when the entire room was
going fucking nuts
for almost the entire match
and it was a stadium.
Well, and the
overriding thing
that is a problem with this
is that his
his awards have gotten
out of hand in an obviously
ridiculous way
because at that period of time
not only was a four-star match
a lot more unusual to say the
least than it is now
but he applied the same
opinion that he had
kind of equally to wrestling matches
you could watch them and you have what regardless
what company yeah that was kind of it
it wasn't a big fucking thing it was just you know
one two three four maybe five
once in a while, whatever.
But his reasoning behind giving AEW or the Japanese promotion
or the darling indie outlaw group that people enter from behind a blanket
in front of 16 people, whatever his darling promotion is,
this is four and a half stars for the opening match and five stars
and five and a half stars and six stars and all this stuff.
it's ridiculous because it's the wrestling equivalent of if this was American Idol
and these people were singing as a competition instead of wrestling to be rated
then it wouldn't matter whether they were on pitch or in key
or remembered the words or finish the song just sing really fucking loud
you're moving on the louder use that's his equivalent because these matches are not so much more
common these great matches that's his story well now great matches are at everyday occurrence
no they're not you can barely find one if you judge by the criteria that we all used to
him amongst us does the guy shit look good
or not, did the people enjoy it?
And did the fucking thing
draw any money?
And instead of, oh my God,
they attempted a shooting corkscrew
plancha through the fucking
second atmospheric continuum.
And then a guy broke his leg, they had to carry him out,
but they didn't shoot it. Five stars.
He's fucking ridiculous.
They're just singing loud.
And again, the current angle issue
kind of distracts from the overall thing,
which is the way he attempts to justify the changes,
the blowing past the five-star scale,
which, you know, part of his excuse now is,
well, they already did that.
They did that in the early 80s.
But he didn't even know that until you told him that on the show.
It wasn't like that was something he knew
when he went past five stars.
You knew it.
He didn't know it.
So the justification for the star ratings...
He didn't use to grade people.
on just the amount of things they tried,
again, rather than the amount of things
they actually succeeded at in the course of a match.
And now it's just do everything you can.
Oh, my gosh.
Oh, it's, oh, ho, ho, five stars.
Even though they missed half of it,
a bunch of it looked like shit.
Most of it was too dangerous,
and it's the same shit you see every goddamn match.
And apparently what kicked this off,
And I try. There's a lot of tweets.
Again, this is part of the problem.
He doesn't stop.
Not trying to put him down, but he doesn't proofread
the fucking observer.
But he's on Twitter writing
to everyone.
Dave was in some sort of
snit with Bischoff on Twitter.
And someone named
John O'Connor
wrote Amazing.
Kurt Engel's career existed.
And somehow, not one of those
coveted five stars found its
way to him.
What an absolute scrub.
Kind of making fun of this whole issue
where Dave had never given Kurt Angle
a five-star match. Right.
Dave responded, quote, tweeted,
hint, if you don't understand the subject,
it's probably best to stay quiet on it.
Ugh.
So we get the beginning of the condescending Dave,
which is, again, is an emerging Dave on social media.
And Jim,
after that tweet, someone
named the King of Galaga
OCP Gaming
slash OCPWR dot dot
dot, we could all guess.
They responded to Dave,
you can't honestly sit there
and tell me that
HBK versus Kurt Engel at
WrestleMania 21
wasn't five stars.
To which someone
named David O'Neill responded,
it's always
Kurt Angle with these weirdos
and from there
Dave quote tweeted David O'Neill
saying it's always
Kurt Engel with these weirdos and wrote
I blame Van Vleet
It's
it's always that son of a bitch's fault
Seriously of all people
The guy had so many great matches
68 or more fours in an era
Where the talent level schedule
Fan expectations evolution and availability
ability and time to study is so different from today.
In the world.
The irony is that I was always accused of overrating Brett, Sean, Angle, Owen Hart,
Rock and Roll Express, Eddie Guerrero, Ray Mysterio Jr., psychosis, Eaton, and all the guys
who people say I underrated.
Well, wait a minute.
If people say that he underrated them, why was he always accused of overrating them?
Yeah.
I don't know.
I'm not sure, but...
But let's stop here for a second.
I blame Van Vleet.
Chris Van Vleet is a wrestling interviewer.
I think he used to do celebrity interviews,
but now he's honed in on where the money is.
He's just doing wrestling.
He's done a bunch of interviews.
We've reviewed a few of them at different times.
He had Meltzer on famously.
And he asked him about the fact that Kurt Angle
didn't have any five-star matches.
and it caused a bit of a thing because Chris Van Vleet appeared to be looking for an answer,
and Dave seemed to be convinced that a sufficient answer was given, it's time to move on.
It was awkward. It went on for a little bit.
But basically he's asking him, the guy that does these ratings that people talk about,
well, Kurt Angle, great wrestler, how could Kurt Angle not have a five-star match?
And by the way, I will say in this case, I almost defend Dave, even though he doesn't articulate this.
You could say you have the best wrestler in the world.
The next question has to be, who were they wrestling?
You know, that person there before I gave a good example.
He wrestled a lot of fucking top guys too, though.
He did.
But, you know, that's when you can hone in on something and say, well, Kurt Angle, Chris Benoit should have been five stars.
Kurt Engel, Sean Michaels, should have been five stars.
but just to lose, how can this guy not have five stars?
You know, there is something to the idea that that's kind of a hard argument to,
again, Dave hasn't articulated it well, I don't think.
Nevertheless, it's not the most inflammatory,
journalistic, hard-hitting question that I've ever heard
that should cause a major controversy.
Well, someone named Danny Stiles on Twitter,
replied to Dave,
I get where you are coming from,
but blaming Chris Van Vleet is a weird deflection.
He didn't give Kurt Angle the ratings, you did.
He just asked the obvious question everyone else
eventually noticed.
And saying,
the standards are different now,
kind of proves the criticism.
If the scale changed so much
that today's wrestlers are getting 5.5, 6,
and seven stars, while Kurt Engle never got one five-star match,
then people aren't crazy for questioning the consistency of the ratings.
Good tweet. What are your thoughts on that?
Very pithy comment. And I bet we're going to get a very pithy response.
Well, again, it started with him saying,
it's weird that you're coming after Chris Van Vleet. That's a deflection.
Dave responded, quote tweeted,
he did so literally right after my son's dog died.
Ten minutes before we started, and we were supposed to have a friendly chat.
To his credit, he was willing to postpone, but I just wanted to do it.
And actually, I thought it was a good interview other than, to me, at the time the idea of star ratings being discussed was just weird, especially bringing up Kurt.
given all the years I was accused of overrating Kurt.
Besides, worrying about a quarter star in a match 20 years ago
is so beyond silly.
What did he think they were going to discuss, if not wrestling,
when he's asking a wrestling guy wrestling questions?
And what does this, I don't want any dog to die.
But how was this a horrible thing to say?
to a guy
whose son's dog had just died
when they were supposed to be
having a friendly conversation?
How did it turn
adversarial over?
Can you explain this to me
how you rate these things
and Kurt Engel never got five stars?
Again, it all comes back to
Dave losing his mind
for the young bucks and Kenny Omega
ushered in this error
where everyone started hyper-focusing
on the history of the ratings
and what was going on
because all of a sudden
the stuff that he loved the most
he was giving the biggest stars to.
Sometimes matches.
And the actual wrestlers that were getting those stars
were doing matches to get more of those stars
rather than to make any money.
Well, Dave responded to another person.
Someone else quote tweeted Dave's earlier thing saying,
I blame Van Vleet.
Talking about Kurt Angle.
Grillmaster,
Grylmaster Nemme Doghousen
or something like that wrote
Whatever.
That number is only 10 less than the number of five-star plus matches you've given Will Osprey during his 12-year career.
As much of a talent as Osprey is, you're smoking crack!
And you think he's better than Kurt Engel.
To which Dave, he wrote a lot here, Dave responded to that with a quote tweet,
If Kurt wrestled 30 matches a year against the guys Osprey wrestled consistently, had ample time to rest, less travel,
went to more places with different styles,
started younger,
came 15 years later in the evolutionary process,
and was in companies and places
where match quality was deemed very important,
he very well could have been the same.
So many things,
so conducive to having better matches,
have changed in the last 10 years.
Not to mention,
the upping the bar
that led to others doing so around 2013,
The upping the bar.
That's about 2013
when the trampoline cowboys from Kukamonga
captured this poor elderly lonely fellow's mind
and convinced him
that it's all about raising the bar of all of this nonsense.
The matches were better
in Angles era
because the guys were more experienced
and the work was better.
as a whole. As I said, they were just singing loudly.
But if Dave's theory here
has any merit, then on the TV
guide screen, when they tell you how many stars the movie
got, then why doesn't a CGI
Marvel Cinematic Universe $200 million
blockbuster get five and a half stars
and a goddamn classic from the 30s, because
it's in black and white and not high-deaf,
it only gets three and a half stars
because it didn't have all those opportunities
to sit and study and rest and get a budget and whatever.
Do you see what I'm saying?
Yeah, let me get back to it.
It's a performance, it's a scale of a performance.
Well, there's a lot more here,
so let me get back to this.
I'm sure there is.
We're not done with this tweet.
Not to mention the upping the bar
that led to others doing so around 2013 in Japan,
in particular years before it got to the U.S.
People's game got upped greatly
based on environment, fan expectations, etc.
Kurt was the best of his era even in a singular,
far more patterned style
and working an absolute killer schedule,
starting his career late
and having serious injury issues.
He was named wrestler of the decade,
all while social media decried him
for being overrated,
and people claimed he didn't work well
and got over based on winning a gold medal.
Who said that?
I don't have any idea.
So that's Dave.
Again, it's an observer-sized paragraph right there.
Well, and again,
the thing with Angle is,
yes, all of those things
were true,
but he didn't have the obvious botches
and cooperation
and fucking lack of knowledge of ring positioning
in every match that these guys have
and they just gloss over it now
and move on to the next thing
and nobody even because the,
it's happening with a lot of the fans,
the WWE fans still go,
ooh, when somebody just falls on a fucking heap.
But in AEW, it happens so much,
they just pick right back up
and the fans don't even care.
It's just a routine that they're looking at.
But it still doesn't mean that we need to reward it
with critical praise from Rex Reed.
Well, Jim, another person on Twitter
quote tweeted Dave's tweet about
the interview happening right after his son's dog died
and how they were supposed to have a friendly chat.
Critman Y.T. tweeted out.
Sorry, but how is CVV, Chris Van Vleet, wrong in any way here?
Kurt not having a single five-star match has been discussed amongst fans for a long time.
So CVV asked about it in the interview.
It's your rating. You could justify it however you want.
But blaming CVV for its criticism makes no sense.
All right, well, that seems pretty logical.
Yeah, nothing inflammatory there kind of matter of fact.
Dave quote tweeted that.
On Curtis shows no research because of key points.
One, me always being accused an actual real time of overrating angle.
Two, you are arguing literally about a quarter star in matches from 20 years ago, which is nuts.
If I said something was four and three quarter and you say five, that means we agree.
It was a great match.
Match of the year contender.
If you were to argue a match I gave three and a quarter to and you gave five, we would disagree.
And that's cool, by the way.
But it was arguing something that I agreed with that he had several exceptional matches.
Several.
Again, he writes a lot about this to, you know, I don't know why at this point Dave's the one
propelling this.
Chris Van Vleet has not said shit
Chris Van Vlead's been talked about by all these people
He hasn't been involved
Dave just blamed him
I know I'll tell you I blame him
He should add more sympathy for the fucking dog
Ask about ratings at a time like this
Another Twitter user named Sam
Responded to Dave
Such a weird shot at CVV
One of the notoriously nice interviewers
To which Dave replied
Not saying he's not a nice guy
But he did not understand the purpose
of the star ratings at all.
Hence not getting a quarter star is not a difference.
It's an agreement.
If you don't understand that anything within a full star is an agreement,
you don't understand it.
Like anything over four is essentially bonus points.
Name is he fucking jabbering about.
By the way, you don't agree.
You can't say we agree on something
if we both have two different figures.
If you say, I say it's 99, I say it's 100, we agree.
No, we don't agree.
We're still apart.
There are, those are two different numbers.
Anything above four is bonus points.
That's what he's saying here.
What do you get bonus points to?
Or four for the lightning round?
And again, Dave's just responding to everyone here.
Someone CVV will be more successful and respected than you ever were.
So Dave thought he should quote tweet that.
doesn't absolve him from not understanding that anything above four stars is a great rating for a match.
As I said, doesn't absolve him.
Before God.
He'll have to go to a priest for that shit.
We cannot do that on the streets.
That has to be done in church by a specialist.
So again, he's blamed Chris Van Vleith.
He's responded to people and kept this thing alive.
It all comes down to he can't.
coherently explain how the star ratings work.
And he also at the same time thinks he's explaining it so well.
I mean, I've seen it.
You have to be a second grader can understand this.
Second grade math.
That's all you need to know to understand.
Like, what the fuck are you talking about?
Get off Twitter, Dave.
You're not doing yourself any favors.
At all.
At all.
At all.
Jeez.
But you know what?
he's good at, Brian.
You don't?
But he's good at documenting the week's wrestling news every week in the
No, he's good at numbers.
There's all kinds of numbers.
Numbers are constantly all over his newsletter, his publication.
He's got, well, if you take this number into account and you suppose that number at this
number, you'll come out with that number on all the ratings, right?
He goes on about that for pages and pages.
I'm thinking that maybe we need to talk to Dave
instead of our wrestling news or wrestling opinions,
we just need to stick his head into some statistics
that we can use with our friends over at prize picks.
Because that's a lot of numbers.
You know, not everybody's good with numbers,
but Dave loves numbers.
He quotes them all the time.
He breaks them down.
He breaks them in half.
He breaks them in quarters.
I'm surprised he doesn't even break him in eights.
That match was four and one eighth stars.
So I'm sure that he could break down the prize picks.
You know, football season has started.
It's heating up now.
And if you know anything about football, well, then congratulations.
But you can get yourself a head start with prize picks' best offer yet.
Brian, if you win your first $5
lineup, you get $150
in lineups, smack dab right on top of it,
just like that.
That's an incredible, what is that?
That is a 5,000% return.
See, I can't do math.
We need Dave to tell us what percent that is.
But all you got to do, ladies gentlemen,
download the prize picks app,
and then pick shit.
and you'll win prizes.
That's basically the way it works.
But you just pick more or less of a few players
and what they might do.
And Brian, you know things they do in football.
They pass the ball and they kick the ball.
And sometimes they cross the end zone line.
So you can pick more or less on all those things.
Running, kicking, throwing.
Jumping, frolicing about.
There's so many ways you can win prizes.
for your picks with price.
How many football players do you think will frolic instead of romp this week?
See?
And if one of the players in your lineup gets injured while he's frolicing or romping in the first
half, your lineup can still cash in some fashion.
As long as he hasn't flatlined, once he flatlines, all bets are off.
But ladies gentlemen, the prize picks injury protection policy help users win.
over $31 million in the 2025 season.
Now the players that got hurt, well, they were just fucked,
but the users of the policy, they got 31 million bucks.
The users will be okay.
That's what we want to let people know.
Yes, yes.
Well, except if you're on the sidelines of one of the football players runs you down,
you see that all the time.
You'd think people would learn to give them 10 or 15 feet.
It's what I say about Raw and the first row accidents can happen.
just be a little more wary.
And that's what you can do.
Download the prize picks app and say,
I think more or less than two to six people
are going to get run over by such and such player.
And then if he does,
well, so you can root for him to wipe that little skinny,
fucking blonde sideline reporter out.
Boom.
Just fold her up like a fucking pup tent.
Maybe not the way,
the, not the, no.
Not, not.
Let's talk about good examples for good people.
Let's talk about football players that put knots on your head
faster than they can rub them, ladies and gentlemen.
And right now, download the prize picks app.
Use the promo code JCE to get $150 in lineups instantly.
If you win your first $5 lineup, that is $150 in lineups instantly,
which means without delay.
if you win your first $5 lineup because at prize picks,
you run your game.
Actually, they run the app and then you run your game,
which your game is a part of their game because they're on the app.
Hope I've cleared this up.
Prize picks.
Prize picks.
All right.
Well, the time Brian has come in the program,
we don't pick it.
It just shows up where we talk a little bit about what AEW has done this
past week and we're going to do it a little different this time because I watched more detail
or watched in more detail the first part of the program and gave up on the later parts.
And I'll explain why as we go along, but there is, there's, there's a pattern here and possibly
a moral to the story. But they were on an off night. They were on Tuesday night this week,
I think because of sports programming,
and they had their big grand slam France.
They were in Paris.
Wee, we.
And it was a pretty pissy show.
But for all of the French listers out there,
Bon saw, how are you?
The big story, which I don't care about
because it's ridiculous to begin with,
but the big story is they got moved
Tuesday, which is the regular
NXT night, and
NXT beat them in the numbers
500-something thousand
to 400-something thousand from what
I saw. But
the bigger story is this is the
flagship show
losing to the C-Team.
But it is
on their night, the C-team's
night, but still
one would think if they took
raw and
put it against
NXT on Tuesday night, that
that week that Raw would still probably win. Wouldn't you think? Wouldn't you imagine?
I would think. Now, in this case,
NXT did not load up the show like they've done previously going head to head.
So that has to be said. But secondly,
as someone who watches AEW every week, because we talk about it here on the show,
for whatever reason, I had no memory that there was a show on Tuesday night.
And I think a lot of people missed it because I'm
missed it. Well, the only reason I knew is because my DVR recorded it and I saw it show up
early and I was like, what? Hello? Okay. But nevertheless, I think this caught some people
by, it caught me by surprise that there was a Tuesday night dynamite. And I think it caught
other people by surprise too. Not everyone. But I think it caught some people by surprise.
Well, this was another instance of this was a great show for the, for the room, for the arena,
for the venue.
But now when Tony goes,
it's their first time in Paris,
so the people had come to see this stuff,
come to see,
give me match, match, match, match, match, match,
we don't care.
Baby faces, heels, multiple people,
just give us a lot of matches.
But it makes for just endless television.
But then the reason why I wanted to look at
the first part of this,
really three segments in particular,
is because still, the booking and why and what plan do you have and why are you doing things this way
and how do you expect anything to materialize from this?
I will give examples as we go along here.
The first match was for the Ring of Honor World Title where Kofi Kingston challenged Bandito.
the Ring of Honor World title
Why the fuck is an ex-WW
star, also a six-man
champion already in AEW,
also a baby face
wrestling another baby face
for a title from a secondary company
that doesn't even have television
and that he's not going to win it anyway
because why would he?
And the whole thing is to serve
this six-man angle
that Tony's got going
where swerve and page are going to fight each other,
but the partners are going to try to get them to not to fight
because they're all nice guys,
but it's a goddamn cluster fuck.
And again, Kofi, a hot WWE talent that crossed over pretty quickly,
and they could have been the tag team champions by now,
except that the fucking buccaroos had to masturbate themselves,
by beating their idle tag team
and a substitute for the Dudleys
in a goddamn ladder cluster fuck
to win those belts
to prove something to themselves
and their goddamn next door neighbors.
So now you've got Kofi and Austin Creed
in a six-man tag team championship situation,
wrestling other baby faces
where it looks like they've been suckered
by the heel to be his partner
when nobody else likes him.
And in this match, Kofi and Bandito, not only shook hands to start it,
but they hugged and smiled at each other.
Respect.
Then they countered and danced.
And then they backfliped and blocked the finger gun spot.
Then there was a backflip and a strut and a move and a wiggle.
And I'm like, is this dancing with the stars?
and then finally they do cofie does a big dive and here comes nana and swerve out because
austin creed's already out there brodie king's already out there and then page comes out
they go to a break and when they come back coffee is making a sloppy comeback to i
the thing is i think bandito's the shits and i know some of the fans like him but i don't know how
easy he is to work with.
Especially, you've got to think that
Kofi and Bandito
have never had a singles match. Where would they
have ever been in the same place before now?
Help me, Brian, if there is
ever, never.
So I wrote, this is rotten.
And awkward
back and forth. They've never had a singles
match. And
suddenly at one point, both of them
went to opposite corners for some
reason.
Kofi went to the corner to climb to the
top, Bandito sold to the other corner.
And then when Kofi was on the top rope,
Bandito sitting in the opposite corner,
motioned him, come here.
So Kofi climbed down and ran all the way across the ring to the corner
the guy he's looking at and ran right into a kick.
Bandito kicked him in the gut.
What the fuck were they doing?
And they were getting two counts,
but then it was kind of awkward.
and then Kofi went to the top again and Bandito stopped him
and they both gingerly climbed up to the top and back flipped off
and somebody got a two count.
And through all this swerve and Paige,
you're just staring at each other because you know they're going to blow up any minute.
And then Kofi did some kind of move and got a two count
and Paige just ran over and just shoved swerve.
Swerve didn't do anything.
He just ran over and shoved him.
that it was a shoving match
and bandito
all of a sudden did that goofy
rolling German suplex
and beat Kofi Kingston
in a
match for a Ring of Honor
world title that means
Jack and
much like Jerry Lewis, Ring of Honor
is big in France.
Gratouche
Wee,
Bonesaw
and then when the bell rang
everybody that's been shoving and arguing
just stopped shoving and arguing.
And that was it. It makes the guys
look small time when they're fighting
for a meaningless belt like that.
When they've just, again, it's the new,
new day.
But it's the same old shit.
He just makes them some of the boys.
If you close your eyes and you think of wrestlers
in AW, you could almost picture them with a belt over their shoulder.
Because everyone holds every belt because there's so many belts.
We've seen Bandito hold several championships on Dynamite.
Has he ever defended the Ring of Honor World Title once?
I know one time he wrestled, was it Moxley, or was it someone that was the AEW world champion and lost?
And I think he was Ring of Honor champion while it happened, but he doesn't defend that belt, so all of a sudden on this show.
And again, they must have known they were going to get killed on this Tuesday show.
Well, but it's just, again, it's Tony's idea of.
he's got to make everything complicated, convoluted,
more on this in a moment, and just write down names,
and everybody's got to have a belt,
so everybody's wrestling for a belt,
and even people with belts wrestle for other belts.
Because it's, well, let's move on to the next segment,
because this is going to illustrate.
This is the kind of stuff that I used to get in the mail from fans
that wanted to be creative writers in wrestling,
whether it was the old days in, like the WWF,
when we would get, there wasn't even email,
you'd get letters and packages and people just,
I believe I can be a creative writer,
and here's this thing that I've written
and it's matched stipulations
or at some convoluted angle between guys
with their all the script written out and everything.
And the worst ones are always the ones that want to book invent matches, right?
They want to take a one rule from every stipulation match they've ever seen or heard of
and combine it into the ultimate super goddamn cluster fuck,
scrambled eggs plate that is
Mark booking
henceforth
it will be known as
clockwork carnage booking
because Tony has taken it to a new level
right after this first match
they had Renee Moxley Good
do a voiceover
where they have announced that
let me see if I can get this right
the main event
on the what is the next paper
Review,
wrestle dream,
because they had no
personal issues,
no single rivalry,
no money-drawing match
that they can field
in the fucking ring.
So the main event
will be the clockwork
carnage match.
Eight men
fighting for the AEW
world title,
two phases,
one winner.
Brian, would you
would you like me to go over the rules of this for the for the folks so they can clearly and
concisely understand how the the match is going to be decided yes because i saw a graphic so i had
the opportunity to sit down and try to read it and i still couldn't make heads or tails and
my only thought was tony's getting some really good shit well he's getting some good shit but
it ain't producing good shit i think maybe it's the propofall and he's just he's just writing
squiggles.
So clockwork carnage,
eight man,
AW World title,
two phases,
one winner,
and no outside interference.
Brian,
you know,
because that's important
because they stop
outside interference
whenever they want
by just saying
no outside interference
and then it can't happen.
Phase one is the entry phase.
Two wrestlers will start
and every three minutes
after that,
another one enters.
Sounds a little familiar.
familiar. If anyone is pinned or submitted during that time, they just got to go home.
They're done. They're out. But after all of the eight guys are in the ring, then phase
two begins, the scoring phase. In a previous generation, it may have been known as the match
beyond. When all eight guys are in the ring, 15 minutes goes on the timer. And whoever gets the
most pins or submissions in 15 minutes is the winner of the match.
By the way, remember that most AEW matches go 20 minutes or more without any goddamn
pins or submissions.
But now there's going to be a bunch of them.
And in this match, because the rules you can beat the champion but not win the match,
or you can lose the title without being pinned, or a bunch of other stupid shit.
And tonight on the program, two men are going to qualify.
I swear to God.
Two men are going to qualify in the match with Samoa Joe and Jungle Jackoff.
And then either Will Osprey or Blando McBoring, depending on tonight's TV main event,
will be defending at Russell Dream in like a week at a fucking half.
Is it not like in a fucking week and a half?
October 17th, Saturday.
So they're just coming up with this now.
The rules are clear.
And we hopefully, by the end of the show,
we'll know who the champion is for the pay-per-view
that's in a week and a half.
And then I'll get your comments on the rules
and the scoring and et cetera,
but they went to a promo in the back
where Will Osprey actually took the blame
for this Mark fucking mess.
Did you hear him say?
I thought this would be the ultimate way to
to confuse the fuck out of people
and have a goddamn giant cluster fuck of a match in the ring.
And he's standing there next to Steamboat's daughter
who says that he's going to qualify
and then challenge Osprey.
When this little fucking sawed-off prick
was just asked by Osprey to be at his group
and now he's getting too big for his britches
what his balls are the size of desicated corn kernels.
This whole thing's a rib, your thoughts.
I think there should be a punishment to whoever introduced Will Osprey to the films of
Stanley Kubrick.
I don't really like whether this is going.
I'm glad they're able to capitalize on the popularity of Clockwork Orange.
It's the hit new movie.
I don't know exactly how this is a good idea.
Tony loves these kind of things.
if it's a really Osprey's idea
how could Tony say no
how could Tony say no to this
I could say no to anybody
if they said this
I could say no to
Luthez's reanimated corpse
clockwork carnage
but they're desperate
they're a week and a half
from a pay-per-view
and they have absolutely
no main event to advertise
anybody gives a shit about
so let's just throw a bunch of guys
in there and promise people
that they'll all kill each other
doing stunts.
And you brought up the most important point just in terms of logic.
If these are top wrestlers in AEW, even if they're not, everyone has 20-minute competitive
matches.
If it's on pay-per-view, it's 20 minutes, and it's competitive, and everyone kicks out of everything.
We complain all the time about everyone kicking out of everything.
All of a sudden, no one's going to kick out, and they're going to be a whole bunch of pins
for points?
It's right, what did it say, scoring period?
Does it say what the score?
Is it one pin?
Well, they've made one, one for a way, if you, you know,
whoever has the most pins are submissions.
So it just counts as one for one.
But, you know, is whoever has the most indicates that at least a few people are going to have one, if not more.
So I, you would think, you would think, yeah.
I'm intrigued to see it now.
I have to admit, maybe not for the right reasons, but I'm intrigued to see it.
See, that's the thing.
You can want to watch it either for the people who think that it might be good
or people like us who think this might be historically fucking putry.
But good luck to him and his future endeavors.
That's clockwork carnage and the qualifier match.
Does that make Will Osprey one of the droogs if this was his idea?
The droogs or the moops.
It was the moops, not the Moors, the moops.
the qualifier between Samoa Joe and old Jungle Boy
I was scared for a while but thankfully
you know
Joe prolonged the agony more than it needed to be
for this little fucking little sought off prick to
be competitive with Samoa Joe but he finally he won it
there was at one point old Jungle Boy
tried to make a comeback and fucked it up
and threw some girl punches and his timing is rotten.
And Joe just leveled him a few times,
but there was one point, Joe suplexed him on the floor,
and old Jungle Boy was supposed to beat the count,
and he just got up on the apron.
He didn't even get in the ring under the ropes,
but Knox was the referee, so nothing mattered anyway.
But Joe muscle busted him one, two, three.
There's not much there.
I mean, do you have any
pithy comments about the thing.
Not really. It was weird. Not weird, but
Joe's return being in France
was definitely a move on a dynamite that was probably going to be
a smaller audience than usual.
Well, they had to rush him up to get him in this fucking
multiple man, you know,
gang bang that they're going to do. So there was no
planning to this. They probably just came up with it.
Hey.
Well, back to Gay Paris.
Yes, the Nege, Perry, Gabe Kidd, and Plummer Moxley took on the carpenter team of Davis and Doyle.
Sounds like the people had beat Black and Decker for the belts.
I figured I'd been more than patient with this show so far, so I skipped that.
But here we go with the TNT title match, another one of the many belts, Darby Allen, of course, defending against
Lady Liberty herself,
Kyle Feltcher.
And that, I don't know what that thing
is, is on his head. I don't know where they got it.
I wish they'd send it back.
I know it's not, but since you brought it up,
I feel like every week it goes up like another two inches.
It just gets bigger and bigger.
It just stands out more and more.
You're like, what is he wearing?
That's what she said.
About his tiara.
Yes, she wanted it.
She wanted his tiara.
He looks like Honey Boo Boo grew up and got on steroids.
Anyhow, here's the thing.
This is why we're going to talk about this match,
because it's symbolic of a bigger problem,
and it's just gotten to the point it's ridiculous.
And with all the news that we've been reporting these days
of people, injuries and surgeries and hospitals and morgues,
it's just fucking ludicrous.
within seconds,
Kyle had long-darted Darby headfirst into the barricade.
But within seconds after that,
Darby was back on offense,
and he dove off the top of the ring post
and cross-bodied Kyle over the railing
and supposed to be through a table,
but the table didn't break, it just turned over.
This is within the first minute or two of the match.
Then Darby did another dive.
Then he got on the desk and they went back and forth, and Kyle, as Darby was running at him,
backdropped Darby for a 450-degree, like, splash-type bump onto the desk face first.
And then they got back in the ring, and Kyle didn't even bother to cover him.
And Darby is back up on offense.
He grabbed him in a front face lock.
I mean, what in the fuck?
There they go to the break.
they come back and he's just beating Darby up some more.
And they did a little doce-do spot where he jerked him out of the corner
and they pulled one of the buckle pads off.
And then they stood and traded forearms.
Why? Why fucking why?
I get the idea they stole it because they did it in Japan.
But one would think in a business where stuff that's different or more unusual stands out
that somebody might get the thought in one of their matches,
I just won't do that same goddamn thing,
especially in a situation like this,
where I will stand there with the guy that I'm wrestling,
and I will hit him,
and then I will stand there like a fucking idiot
while he hits me back.
And we'll do this half dozen, dozen or more times,
depending on the situation.
especially when Kyle is twice the size of Darby Allen,
this fucking diminutive anorexic garden gnome
standing next to this giant jacked up kid 15 years younger than he is,
and they're going to trade forearms.
And then Kyle hit him with a perfect Michinoku driver.
Got a two count.
and then Darby is back up and fine and he co-redded Kyle off the top rope, boom,
and then did it again on the mat, and that was a two-count.
And then Darby did a coffin drop off the top rope to the apron of the ring where Kyle moved.
So Darby bounced off and all the way to where he bounced it, hit his head on the desk.
Kyle gets out there quick and rolls him in the ring
and hits him with a big kick, boom,
and gives him a fucking brainbuster cover to count.
What the fuck are these people doing?
It's absolutely preposterous.
Then Kyle Half-Half Nelson,
half-Nelson, half-Nelson suplexed Darby on his head,
And then it started dragging.
Now it's just, he's walking around, just beating on him.
And then Kyle picks him up.
And remember they pulled the turnbuckle pad off of one of the quarter top turnbuckles.
He goes for the brainbuster on the bare turnbuckle and he hit it.
And Darby bounced off the turnbuckle to the floor while Kyle sold his leg, I guess, on the jump.
but he rolled Darby in and covered him after the brainbuster on the top turnbuckle without the pad.
Two count.
And now Darby has got juice and he's bleeding, he's pouring from the head, but he's still.
Darby foiled an attempt at a power bomb and did a go behind and ran Kyle's head into the bare turnbuckle,
rolled him up, spun into a scorpion deathlock, and cranked it up,
about 45 seconds after the brain buster off the fucking thing.
Kyle made it to the ropes just barely,
and then Darby jumped up to the top rope and coffin dropped Kyle in the back,
jumped up to the top rope again and did a second one and covered him and beat Kyle one, two, three.
This little goof survives everything but a shotgun blast
and beats this giant jacked-up kid that is their future.
It was with coffin drops.
One, two,
it was one of the single worst matches and finishes
that they may have ever done.
This fucking twerp is indestructible.
Kyle does everything he could do,
everything he knows to beat him,
and nothing stops the guy.
And then Kyle, who has,
is their future, who's a decade or more younger than Darby,
who's obviously going to last a lot longer into business than Darby,
and who's in their world title picture,
or at least was and was supposed to be,
does a job to a guy half his size on television under those conditions?
That's the booking problem,
but it's also, if anybody disagrees with the booking,
okay chocolate vanilla you like stupid i like sensible we'll agree to disagree it's a stupid business decision
on everybody's part to allow this shit to go on if people didn't know that darby allen could
sustain being thrown over niagara falls in a barrel and all this other stuff any one of the
things that he does 10 or a 12 of in every match would be impressive and he could have got
over just the same with the same gimmick that we know as him really, the same presentation,
everything by doing less than half of what he's done and being a smart businessman for himself
and for the others on the roster. Because I bet you, there's some guys on this FACCAQTA roster
that don't want to be slung like a beanbag at a concrete wall or fired out of a fucking
canon and wish that this little prick would quit doing so much of it because you talk about
raising the bar people see this and now they say okay we know this wrestling's all fake boy that
looked gruesome but they're okay the bad business part comes in if it's Darby's business he's
shortening his career but for other people who have to follow this it's shortening the person's
career what's doing it.
And that's not a good business decision.
But let's say Tony don't care.
That's the guy's business.
It's Tony's business because he's paying this guy and other people much money
to be attractions on his roster,
to get over to the point where they sell tickets, people want to see them,
they want to watch them on TV, etc.
And if you get somebody that gets to that status,
if you're a good businessman, which Tony has not proven that he is,
but you don't want to pay the guy to go have surgery and pay for the surgery
and have him sit out for six months or a year
and have him working literally half of his goddamn three-year contract,
he's actually able to work.
You don't want that.
You want guys to be able to come to work and perform
if they're over and popular for you.
So there is some risk that is acceptable.
But none of the things that we are talking about here
are things that are acceptable risk
in a pro wrestling environment.
It's all shit that this little goof
and his fucking band of Mary prankster ilk
that practice their wrestling on trampolines
and in skate parks
have brought to the business.
So they found a guy that's willing to pay them,
whether they can work or not, whether they're hurt or not,
even if they're reckless and their injuries are their own fault
because what the fuck are you doing to begin with?
But it's still a bad business if they ever have to work for anybody else.
That ain't going to be the same case.
The WWE or any other major company in the future
not going to let you do this shit
because they want you to show up and they want your opponent to show up too.
Because you might fuck around and fucking paralyze him when he's trying to cooperate with you and doing this shit.
So it's bad business for the guy doing it, shortens his career.
It's bad business for the guy that is cooperating with him because he might get hurt alongside it.
It's bad business for the rest of the roster because they have a bar that they now have to exceed to get any kind of
reaction out of these numb nuts is it pay to see this stuntman bullshit.
And it's bad business for the promoter because he loses an attraction half of the time
to injuries because the only way they can get over is doing this goofy shit instead of
talking to people into the building or having a goddamn personal issue with a hand-to-hand
combat resolve that people might pay to see.
Now at the same point, you can make the fucking comment that the WWE has the opposite
problem because as we mentioned a while back here on the program was seen as retirement
their finances are to the point now where if you pick one of their top guys up for a
body slam you got $25 million of company money depending on how you put him down so that's a lot
of pressure but here they just think they're on a free ticket because the billionaire boy
child will pay them no matter how bad they're fucked up and whether they're getting fed through a
straw or not so why worry but it ain't going to be like that anywhere else and what kind of shape are
you going to be in you might have your money and you might have to have somebody hired to write
your checks for you because you can't fucking move your arm to sign your goddamn name so how is this
ridiculous horse shit in any way not only
good for anybody's business, but have any connection to what the professional wrestling
business is always have been and is supposed to be at the root of it.
A simulated conflict to look as credible as possible between two personalities of
interest that we want to see the resolve to.
not Lee Majors and the Fall guy
being blown up in a fucking movie stunt
I'm sorry Brian I yield the floor to the chairman
No no that's all right I guess that would make her
a fairer of Fawcett Allen
for going by this example but um
you know
Darby's thing is that he's indestructible
I've heard from wrestlers that him
launching himself at you doesn't hurt so bad because he weighs so
little, and then you think how much is this little guy hurting himself out there?
To your question about, you know, where else is he going to go? He's not planning on going
anywhere, and I don't think Tony Kong wants him to ever go anywhere. And I'm sure WW would get him
just to fuck with Tony, but I'm also sure it's never going to, well, I shouldn't say never,
but... But it's not just limited to him, they're all doing it. This is just case and point.
I think in a lot of ways, the industry, you know, it's hard, not unhealthy, but
the foundation being laid now makes you worried about what's coming next.
There's no current genius bookers.
There's no call to tone things down for the good of the industry.
There's no look back to what made American television wrestling work.
The promos, the kind of promos, even squash matches, as we now call them.
But whatever.
I mean, again, some of these things...
As a fan...
Everything even all of this, but...
I can testify as a fan of pro wrestling for the first hundred years of its existence,
you had the most fun listening to the promos on television,
and then go into the house show and see in the match.
And that's as a fan.
That was your, you didn't particularly care about the matches on TV,
because they weren't going to be that good anyway,
except if they were shooting an angle.
But you wanted to see the promos,
because they were the best part, sometimes even better than the match.
Because it's an issue.
These guys don't like each other.
They're telling us why, blah, blah, blah.
And everybody did shit differently.
but as a professional,
not just as a fan,
but as a professional,
I can tell you that our enjoyment
was not the specific moves
or planning a stunt.
It was cutting those promos
and getting people fired up and okay.
And then when you got to the building
and it drew, then you're like, yeah.
And then when you went out and had the match
as long as nobody got hurt
and the people were going crazy,
then you come back high-fiving,
because we tore the house down.
If we had gotten the same reaction
from 500 people in a 5,000-seat building,
instead of 5,000 people in a 5,000-seat building,
we would not have been a high-fiving.
We'd been going, God damn, we're glad that's over,
because it didn't fucking draw.
And we weren't worried about the individual,
oh, my gosh, we got to get in a tiger driver.
have a good match
tear the house down
don't get fucking hurt
but that's it's not like
our top two or three
reasons for enjoying
what had gone on was because
we did these great moves in this match
and that's all they do now
is plan stunts
and the people sit there
on their hands
or on their phones or with
their hands in their pockets, or talking to Gladys next to him,
and they pop when somebody almost kills themselves,
and then they sit there and stare again.
I used to sit there with anticipation just for guys to interact with each other.
It would be building, it would be building, it would be building,
and then finally, you'd get it at a house show,
and by the time I was a kid,
by the end of the house show run, you'd get it on Saturday night's main event or something.
but it's a different world
and you know again the next
generation what are they going to know about what made
everything work and will it matter
but anyway the rest of the show
was Mercedes against the Queen
and Osprey against Blando McBoring
and why even bother
but because
I wasn't going to see anything I hadn't already seen
there wasn't anything else you could do to the human body
and that's again
their problem is they do not grow or have potential for growth because there is no such thing
as opening a new market now.
In the territory days, oh shit, we got TV in Lexington.
Going to start running Ruperina once a month.
That was a big deal.
That's an extra $40,000 a month, whatever.
There's no new market now.
The world is the market.
They have got the people that are going to sit and watch this slop,
stuntman exhibition with no coherent reason to follow why guys are mad, who's on whose side,
who should I cheer for, who should I boo, why are they fighting, what's going on with all these
belts, it's just a goddamn mess, and it's stagnant and it's not good for any of their business
because they're only raising the bar and shortening their careers,
and it's all interchangeable.
Well, that was AEW Dynamite.
It certainly was.
You know, the problem is nobody just sits down
and tries to calm down and reflect about things.
That's the problem.
It's all franticness and just chaos and carnage, so to speak.
Maybe if they were just to take and sit down with a bottle of Willie's tonic,
just a little Willie's remedy,
the THC-infused social tonic that will give you an uplifting euphoric buzz
with no negative side effects like bad booking or hangovers
or potential propofall overdoses,
I think that would help solve a lot of their problems, Brian,
if they just sit down and had a shot of Willys,
take the edge off, relax without the alcohol, no hangover, no bad choices.
Instead, just kind of mellowing out and think we'll just have one guy face one guy.
And whoever wins can be the champion.
Just bring it back down to its simplicity like Rick Rubin did for Johnny Cash.
What do you think, Brian?
Maybe Willie Nelson can do that for Tony Con.
I don't know.
It's a heck of an idea.
of course maybe Willie can do it for you, you being Mr. and Mrs. listener out there.
Mr. and Mrs. you. You know, there's a lot of those in China.
And I'll tell you what, folks, the reason why that they're going to do it for you and to you is because Willie's crafted by the legendary Willie Nelson.
It's his own social tonic. If you want to hang out with a bunch of 90-year-old fuckers that probably have skid marks in their drawers, then you want a social.
tonic like this. It's inspired by Willie's way of living. Make millions of dollars and smoke a lot of
weed. And there's only 15 calories and three grams of sugar, so you got all of the fun and none
of the regret. And folks, it available and it available. It is available. Jim's having some right now,
actually. Yes, I'm sipping right now. Five and ten milligram doses with the delicious blend of
lemon, lime, and passion fruit.
It, actually, it tastes just like
a fucking grapefruit came into a sprite.
Okay.
You can enjoy it as a shot over ice or mixed into your favorite mock tail.
That's what it says right here.
Do you have a lot of mock tails over there?
Well, it's, it's, depending on if you have any mock turtle.
It's a unique blend of THC, CBD, CBG, and
WTF, that's what you'll say.
One shot helps you relax, unwind, and de-stress.
So right now, folks, without any further ado, I could go on, but I won't.
Go right now to DrinkWillys.
Drinkwillies.com and use the promo code JCE.
You're going to get 20% off your first order, plus free shipping on orders over $95.
Or you can use the store locator to find Willys on Shell,
near you, but then you'll pay full price and why the fuck do that.
20% off, drinkwillies.com.
The promo code is JCE.
Have a sip and just sit back and float away freely.
Willys!
All righty then.

All righty, well, before we close up
here, we're going to take some criticism
from the listeners, and
we've been milking people on the Mid-South
wrestling schedule. We did a segment
just a few shows
ago, and that got people fired up again,
and they're screaming to finish the last
stampede at least. So,
We thought while we have a chance, we'd do a week here and see how that goes,
there's only a few stampedes left, and we're about to transfer into the angle with the Rock
and Roll Express, but a couple of interesting dates remain.
And I think we left off last time the double shot on Sunday, April 29th,
1984 in Hammond, Louisiana and Lafayette, Louisiana, where I was tired and feathered in the
afternoon in Hammond and then put into a dress that night in Lafayette, which kind of an exciting day.
And by the way, we've checked the inflation calculator again.
And for today's money, it's about, what, $3.20.
So we'll say $3 to 1.
but the Sunday April 29 shows, I just want to make the point.
Hammond grossed $14,000.
That would be like 42 today at a college campus.
And then Lafayette that night was the record house and a sellout at 21 grand.
That would be 60.
So that was the equivalent of a $100,000 day for Mid-South Wrestling in secondary towns.
which that was showing how hot wrestling was at that point.
The Mid-South TV, the ratings were through the roof,
and even the smaller towns, the spot shows, as we've talked about,
were doing business, and we would have more of those as the summer went on.
But nevertheless, we're in New Orleans on Monday, April 30th,
for another match with the Rock and Roll Express.
and since New Orleans was the odd town that still ran almost every week in the territory,
we had a lot more non-title matches or matches with maybe a special stipulation that didn't
get to all of the other towns because it was just something to fill in in between.
But again, New Orleans, a 400-mile round trip from Alexandria where we lived,
with the Rock and Roll Express that night, a $14,000 house,
which on regular shows in New Orleans at the downtown auditorium
is about what they were doing.
I was handcuffed to Dr. Desti Williams so that I couldn't interfere.
And I've got the finish here written in my shorthand.
Would you like to hear this one, Brian?
Oh, yeah.
We get the heat on Ricky.
Surprise, surprise.
Robert makes the comeback.
grabs a headlock on Dennis.
Dennis shoots him off.
Bobby on the apron pulls the top rope down.
And Robert goes backwards over the top rope.
We just talked about that bump here last week or so
when the idiots on AEW pulled the wrong rope.
Ricky goes out to help Robert up,
but Bobby comes from behind and runs Ricky into the ring post.
He rolls Robert back in.
Bobby and Dennis both grab
Robert and double shoot him off and they've got a chain and they're going to
close line him by the neck with the chain.
But as they run at him, he ducks and they both keep running and hit the ropes.
Ricky's on the floor and trips Bobby and Robert cross-bodies Dennis, boom,
one, two, three.
So the rock and roll win a non-title match over the Mid-South champions, but as they're
letting me and Dr. Deathloose from the handcuffs, they make the mistake.
stake of letting me loose first and I grab my cuff and cuff Dr. Death to the bottom rope
and Butch Reed comes out and beats a shit out of him while we beat the rock and roll
express off until the rest of the baby faces on the card come out and run us out.
So that's basically a standard little regular house show finish.
and then the thing with New Orleans is even people sometimes forget even before dog left
if dog wasn't in something hot and just the fact that the territory was transitioning
to more biweekly every two week shows in the major towns New Orleans was doing okay
but it wasn't doing like what it had done in the dog's record period and it wouldn't
really get a shot in the arm.
Have we already started at the
U&O Lakefront Arena or was
that? That was warm weather
when we started running that
sometimes instead of the downtown
building. But we'll get there. But that
gave New Orleans a bit of
a shot in the arm.
Nevertheless, we move
on. Tuesday
May the 1st, we're in Shreveport
for a house show.
And we did the same finish, but without
Dr. Death and Butch Reed,
and I don't have the house recorded, but it must have been rotten
because we got an $80 payoff, even with the Rocker Roll Express in a title match.
Shreveport was not, and I've mentioned this before, was not a money town because the TV tapings were there every two weeks.
And every two weeks alternating with that, we ran the old Memorial Auditorium.
And when we did the sellout with Watts, that was the record house.
it was only 26 grand.
So it was kind of, you know, one of those towns.
But that's another 260 mile round trip.
We're going to do 466960, 12, 14, 50, Jesus Christ.
We're going to do a couple of thousand miles this week,
which wasn't out of the line for the Mid-South Territory.
But guess what we did on Wednesday?
May the second, Brian.
You went to the movies.
No.
We got a day off.
All I had to do
was stay over after Shreveport
and do interviews
at Channel 3 from 9 o'clock in the morning
to 3 o'clock in the afternoon.
And then I could go back to Alexandria
and have the whole night off.
Which if you're keeping track,
the previous day off that we had had
that we were not booked
was March the 6th.
So on May 2nd, we got our next day off.
And Bobby and Dennis got a full day off.
Bobby and Dennis got the full day off
because they didn't have to be at interviews.
I got off from 5.30 till I went to sleep
when I got back from Shreveport.
But we had made the mistake.
We had already applied.
And we'll get into this on our next run when it starts happening,
but we had already asked for some time off,
and we'll get a few days coming up later on in this month.
Anyway, Thursday, May 3rd, we went to Biloxi against the Rock and Roll Express.
And I've mentioned that I hated that Mississippi Gulf Coast Coliseum.
It was a dark building.
It was dangerous.
The people got out of hand.
You couldn't see.
And this was a night where the house actually was up.
We got a $200 payoff in Biloxi, which was not bad at all for the time.
And it did the same finish as we did in Shreveport because that was, let's see,
Biloxi, that was almost 400 miles from Shreveport.
So nobody knew the difference.
But the weekend is what I want to get into here.
Friday, May 3rd, we were in Carthage, Texas.
This was a spot show off of the Shreveport television, as I recall, across the border in Texas.
We didn't run that area very much, but this again is how in-demand Mid-South Wrestling was.
They had all these towns that they ran every two weeks, but they still had demands from people for spot shows.
We went to Carthage, Texas, and the spot show prices in those days were like 10, 7 and 4.
So $10 ringside, seven general admission, $4 kids.
We did $13,000 against the Rocker Roll Express in the main event, which had to, I don't know, I don't even, we've never been back to Carthage.
I don't remember exactly where it is.
I don't know what the goddamn population is today.
But we had almost 2,000 people on a Friday night in fucking Carthage, Texas.
And they beat us, of course, in a non-title match because
baby faces go over and spot shows and
we didn't want to start a riot
but we got a $160
payoff. Well look, do me a favor. Google Carthage.
I just did. The population in 1980
was 6,447.
The population in 1990 was 6,496.46.
Well, we got
about 30% of them to come out and watch the matches.
And where else can
again, I'm sorry, but the business has regressed when you can't go to a town of 6,000 people,
sell 2,000 tickets and get the equivalent of a $500 payoff.
And that was a 320 mile round trip.
So the next day is the most newsworthy of the week.
And I've told this story before on shoot interviews, but it's been a while.
It may be new to you, but I'll try to keep it moving.
Saturday, May 5th of 1984 was the last stampede match in Little Rock, Arkansas at the Barton Coliseum.
But since there was so much demand for all of these matches, they had another Saturday double shot.
And they booked us in Monticello, Arkansas, which was on the way from Alexandria to Little Rock.
kind of, not directly, but it was in that direction.
But we had a 2 o'clock show there where we had to do a match with the Rock and Roll Express
in the main event.
It was 180 miles from Alexandria.
That meant we left at its state road.
It's not interstate.
So we had left at like 9 o'clock that morning to go to the spot show on the way to the big show.
We get to Monticello.
I've even got this written down.
I spent $12 on food that day.
It was a simpler time.
We worked with the Rock and Roll Express, the main event.
I don't have the house written down,
but the payoff was $160 exactly what we made for Carthage
the previous night with a $13,000 house.
So I'm pretty sure it was another deal where it was,
you know, 1,500 fucking people on a Saturday afternoon
in this little town.
I don't know how many people's in Monticello, Arkansas.
But we get in Dennis's van,
and we're going to head the rest.
It's only 90 miles to Little Rock.
That's why they book this.
They say, okay, they get it out of Monticello at 4 o'clock.
They'll be able to make Little Rock by 6.30 or 7,
stopping to get maybe something to eat.
We're driving through these goddamn backroads
and the alternator or whatever starts going out in Dennis's van.
And it's sputtering and it ain't going to go much further
and we get to a place, we see the sign Star City, Arkansas.
And this is a smaller town than, you know, the goddamn, the ones we've been in.
And it's a Saturday afternoon and we're thinking,
how in the world are we going to find somebody to fix this car?
and we pulled up in front of a lawnmower repair shop,
and there was guys working on shit out in front.
And we, hey, we called them over,
and we're offering cash money, fix whatever the fuck our problem is.
We got to get to Little Rock.
And during the time that these shade tree mechanics were, bless them,
were fixing, they just work on all kinds of shit.
the word spread the Midnight Express and Jim Cornett were in Star City and we're sitting out
this shop we're just on the side of the main street right we're sitting at a picnic table
and we start seeing cars drive down and first it's one and we see the same car drive back
second later and then there's a couple and they drive back the whole town is making
loops in the next 20 minutes around this goddamn block
to look at us sitting out in front of this lawnmower shop.
And we were hoping that nobody was wanting to take issue.
There's no cell phones.
They don't exist.
We try to call the box office at the Barton Coliseum and Little Rock
from a pay phone to tell them we're getting our van fixed.
We're going to be late.
But nobody's answering the phone because we don't know,
but we're about to find out.
they're so goddamn slammed at the Barton Coliseum box office.
Fuck the phone.
They've locked the front gates at 7 o'clock to not let anybody else on the property.
They're already oversold.
They turn 2,000 people away.
So we can't tell anybody where we are.
We get in the van when they fix it.
We pay them, whatever we paid them.
We're fucking cutting ass to goddamn Little Rock.
We get to the Coliseum.
They've locked the front gate.
We can't get in.
We're driving all around the fairgrounds until we found.
a back entrance
around the race track
or whatever foot race, not
horse, and
we got to the back of the building
and
came in and that's when Dundee
proved the old adage,
if you're going to be late, be so late
when you get there, they're glad to see you.
Because it was like the match before
ours was supposed
to go in the ring and
they're fucking shitting. The house
was $71,000.
it was 9,100 people.
Like I said, they had turned people away.
They locked the gates.
We outdrew the Kenny Rogers concert.
They'd had the week or the month before.
And they're thinking, if we don't make it,
they're going to have a right,
they're going to burn this fucking building down.
So we made it.
And I was diapered and baby bottled
and then disposed of,
and we got a $1,500 payoff.
as we mentioned, that'd be almost five grand in today's money,
because the house would have been in a town we ran every two weeks,
Little Rock, Arkansas,
the house would have been over $200,000 in today's money.
Not only an achievement, but also,
this is how stingy they were.
They booked Monticello that afternoon and risked one of us breaking our fucking leg.
You asked about Monticello, Arkansas,
the population in 1980,
8,259,
population in 1998,
8,116.
So they were losing people.
But yeah, I mean, it was just crazy
that we could draw these crowds
in these towns, you know,
with this amount of frequency.
So nevertheless,
we got out of Little Rock
we had left Alexandria that morning at like 9 o'clock.
We'd worked with the rock and roll.
Then we'd fucking had the breakdown.
Then we'd worked with Watson dog.
Then we get in the car.
We've got 270 miles of back roads to go in pitch dark.
We didn't get back until fucking close to 6 o'clock in the morning on Sunday,
May 6th.
And thankfully, that night we were working in Alexandria at the repeats
Parish Coliseum against the Rock and Roll Express, losing to them in a non-title contest.
So at least we got sleep until about four in the afternoon.
But again, that was a $2,430 week.
So say, $7,500.
And we actually got a day off.
So we only had to work one, two, three, four, five, six, seven matches.
and we were almost finished with the last stampede
and ready to move on for the Rock and Roll Express
in full except for one nagging little last stampede match
in Beaumont, Texas.
There was the worst one of the bunch
and drew 14 grand on May the 10th.
I'll spoil the reveal that we got $100 payoff.
And if they hadn't booked the goddamn thing there
to drag our average down, I would have been happy.
But as I mentioned, Beaumont was the shit town in the whole state of Texas.
Having said that, we'll get there next time, but just so everybody knows,
the last stampede matches themselves, 14 of them, grossed around $800,000 in 1984.
That's almost $2.5 billion today.
and the whole territory, because we were running other shows, obviously, around those,
in the five weeks or so that they took place, grossed $1.2 million.
It was the best period in business that Bill Watts ever had, and 84 was obviously his flagship year.
But in these markets, that amount of money, the populations, it was astounding.
could not go anywhere that people didn't know what was going on with Mid-South wrestling.
So he had that thing humming at that point.
And I was proud and happy to come in and take more money than the goddamn fucking champion
of the Memphis territory was making at that time.
And I was making it as a manager.
I was more than happy to be involved with that, even if we had to do a little bit of driving.
Brian, any questions or comments?
Do you ever feel bad for Jimmy Hart during his period of time that he wasn't making that kind of money?
No.
Because, well, I love poo-poo, and I didn't begrudgy making money, but if it came down to the two of us,
I'd rather be doing it than him.
He was figured in for the long run in Memphis, and he had, you know, a number of, you know,
nice payoffs, I'm sure, but they just didn't have the infrastructure, the town,
or the buildings to draw that kind of money to pay it.
And Watts did.
He just needed the catalyst that Dundee and the new talent
and some new finishes and new ways of doing things,
you know, gave him.
He already had the TV markets.
The music videos.
The videos, just the new production.
He had the TV markets.
He had the contracts with the arenas.
He had the method of that convoluted way of,
bicycling the tapes to where everything turned out at the right time,
he just needed a revamped product.
And when he got it, it was the most successful, you know,
territory in the country in terms of per capita.
A lot to look forward to.
We'll do this again soon.
We're not going to wait too long.
We're not going to wait too long, but we've gone too long already.
So it's the end, the end of the experience, as Don Henley would have said,
but we're coming back on the drive-through
some more of this weekend's foolishness.
That'll be in a few days.
And back next week on the experience.
And until then, in parting, thank you, fuck you.
Bye-bye, everybody.
