I'm so confused.
Oh, there it was.
There was.
Hello again, friends.
Yeah.
And Mr. Jibber Jibber over there.
Hello again, friends.
And you are and we're friends.
Welcome back to another edition of Jim Cornets drive-through.
I feel like I sound like crap today, but we're going to get through this.
I'm your host of Great Brian Last.
We have a lot of fun wrestling talk, past and present.
A lot of people behaving badly.
with this man, Mr. Beaving Badley, the leader of the cult of Cornett, Mr. Jim Cornett.
I was about to say, why did you have to mention the behaving of the badly and then bring me into it?
Like, I had something to do with any of this.
I'm just talking about it.
I wasn't even there.
I'm not involved.
I'm going to have loud conversations with myself during the concert.
That's a great person to be around.
During the concert, I was, you know, I thought for a second there, I say, you know what?
maybe it's just that it's me or maybe I've just gotten used to this, but it almost sounds like it,
I mean, there's the stray notes that don't belong, but there always are, but it followed some kind
of coherent pattern this time.
They all belong.
Until you got to that last little sharp one that just goes up your, your uterus into your
fucking fallopian tubes there and just rattles you around.
Tickles your eardrums and puts a melody in your head that won't leave.
Yeah.
Yeah, tickles your eardrum like a fucking lead pipe
upside of an oil drum is what it does.
I'm hearing so many compliments from people.
You are the new Errol Garner.
You are the new Dr. Teeth in the electric mayhem.
I mean, just people really losing their minds
over this growing sound, this new sound
that's sweeping small subsections of some areas.
I really didn't know that we had any old examples
of those people that you just mentioned.
and Dr. Procter and his red rectum rockers or whatever it was.
I didn't know that they existed the first time around.
But I've been in the dark here the past couple of days.
I don't have by my full faculties,
the things that I do to keep up with the world that are failing me.
And if it wasn't for the fact that I have a pair of precocious, precious Pomeranian puppies to placate me,
I'd be pissed.
just to be honest with you.
But let me tell you about nature boy, buddy Cornett.
He has gotten a habit where he likes to sleep whenever I'm on the couch,
he will, now that they can jump up on the couch,
he'll jump up there and he will just pop right in my lap and go to sleep.
And just the cute as I can just rub him and pet on him.
But then Alfie, Alfred Pudensworth, has started to get jealous,
so he'll jump up and he'll slide right next to me, right next to my leg.
And then when Buddy wakes up and decides to start walking up my chest
where I have to put my arms under him and cradle him like a baby
so he can put his head on my shoulder's sleep,
then that's when Alfie gets right under there and gets in my lap where he was,
buddy was originally.
And then I'm stacked up with puppies and all of my limbs go numb
and my blood circulation stops.
but it's fun.
It's a fun way to
fucking lose the feeling in your entire lower
extremities.
But if it wasn't for that, Brian,
I'd be a little ticked off. You know why?
You know why. I'll tell you why.
Nothing works anymore.
Not a goddamn thing
works anymore.
I don't care what you pay for it,
where you get it, who makes it.
Nothing works.
And I believe I
mentioned over the past couple weeks, at least one, the first thing it had was like three weeks
ago, the brand new 85-inch big screen TV in the back room that we got remodeled a couple
years ago. We got it in 2023 when the room was finished. Went dead, dead, dead, dead.
Graveyard dead. Polly is fucking dead. Wouldn't fucking get a pitch. Black screen just,
not a chirp, not nothing.
So we ordered a new one.
We had to take that son of a bitch off the goddamn wall.
And get the new one up on the goddamn wall.
And then, while this was going on,
and you remember this, I told you this,
I don't even know whether I mentioned it on the air.
But a couple weeks ago, during the last big heat wave we had,
my air conditioner, two of the four air conditioning units
that I have powering the castle,
went out, boom, graveyard dead.
They would blow, but they would not cool.
And had the people come over.
So the people come over to fix the air conditioner,
and I had to have over the course of four days,
three different crews come over,
because they'd come over, say, well, it's a capacitor.
It's been running so bad because of the hot weather,
fix the capacitor, runs perfect.
Next day, same goddamn thing.
And finally they sent me out a repairman instead of an installer.
And he saw, oh, what it is is they come with this little,
this little kit they put on there now from the factory standard.
But these are three or four years old,
so they've got to have this little kit put on it,
it prevents it from doing this.
That's what's happening.
And he fixed that.
But it was days of chaos.
Then the TV and the TV and the TV.
The bedroom went out.
That's only six or seven years old.
My mother had the same goddamn floor model console color television from 1966 until the early 1990s.
And they used to cost about $400 for a 21-inch color TV screen.
Now they're $400 for a 75-inch screen, but they last for three years.
So then we got to.
another TV for the bedroom, which we got a goddamn, still, I've got it up there, but
Stacey has to, because you can't just plug the goddamn TV in anymore, Brian. You have to program it
and set it up because it does all these things that I've never once needed a TV to do.
All I want, a goddamn picture and a sound. I'll take it from there. And so goddamn, however
this fits in, we just took a break because Brian last was telling me that my,
God damn internet was modulating while I was talking about all the other technology that doesn't work.
So my TVs broke down and in my air conditioning broke down.
And then on Friday, the DVR, the cable box.
Suddenly I'm trying to watch TV and it's black.
I got the on-screen cable guide.
Can't get any channel, sound picture, whatever.
Like, what the fuck?
I go, well, they do this for everything else.
I unplug it and plug it back in,
and then it comes back on.
But it had recorded black for all the DVR stuff
that I hadn't been paying attention to,
which is why I told you,
I had to watch the fucking clips from SmackDown online.
So then I got that fixed.
And then Sunday, I pick up my phone and make a phone call.
I got no dial tone.
the phone is graveyard dead i'm talking about a real telephone here plugged into the wall the way
alexander grambell intended and not these goddamn cell phones so then i have to call aty and t and i've
yet to speak to a human being at that fine american establishment one of the cornerstones of
our economy american telephone and telegraph for god's sake
they can't talk to the little peons the customers
but their automated bot
was very helpful
very polite
have you ever talked to an automated bot
one of the female ones
briefly usually it ends with me screaming
operator operator live person
it's infuriating
well I've found that if you scream
a string of profanities at them
usually you'll get a human being
you motherfucker
give me a fucking you, but fucking big.
But this didn't work, but
it assured me, oh, yeah, we see,
that you have a problem on your line.
We will send out a technician.
And then I had to listen to the thing where it said to someone
over 18 must be there to receive said technician.
And it took me three calls on the automated line,
because the automated line,
I couldn't figure out how to answer it in such a way
that it couldn't figure out
I'm calling from my cell phone, which I never use, but it actually is a telephone that makes calls.
So the automated bot couldn't understand that I was calling to report to my phone was dead,
but not the phone I was calling from.
Well, we're going to send a message to your phone, and then my phone starts vibrating.
I'm not, this phone, motherfucker.
So it tells me I've got an appointment and a technician is coming.
and I got a message on it at five minutes to nine this morning that said,
the technician is on his way, see you soon.
And as we sit here right now, it's 2.13 in the afternoon,
and I ain't seen said technician.
And while I'm trying to tell you about my goddamn telephone not working,
you're telling me the goddamn inner zooms ain't working,
and I'm modulating.
I'm, how about if I just write down my thoughts and copy them and you can cut and paste it on the
internet for everybody?
I guess this would be our chance to finally utilize AI Jim Cornett.
If it's your writings and it's your voice, just not you.
Well, if you can do that, then why have I been sitting here for the past however long this has
been around?
Well, you're very pleasant to be around.
Well, I guess you got me there.
I am quite a fun-loving fellow.
fellow. But so nothing goddamn works. And I hate to call people on my cell phone because when I used to
travel and I would call someone while I was on route to the particular location of the show or
whatever. And I would say, now remember this my cell phone. I only use it when I'm away from home.
So if you need to ever call me, call a house first. And of course, then two years later, I'd see
I called you a bunch of times.
What did you go?
Well, I called five, blah, blah, blah.
That's my cell phone.
Don't call that.
People start calling this.
I go three and four months without ever turning it on.
So I don't know.
Well, actually, now that I think about,
never mind, everybody, you got my cell phone number, call my cell phone.
Because that'll give me a lot more free time.
But it's very confusing.
Maybe your house was hit by lightning again.
We haven't had a fucking story.
yet since all this has been
fun. Sunday was clear
as a bell. It was hotter than
all get out,
as Aunt Lola used to say.
Hotter and all you've got me so
frazzled I can't form a cogent
simile.
There was no problem with the weather
I used the phone at noon. It was fine.
I try to use the phone at 5 o'clock.
It don't work.
Nothing had changed except the lack of dial tone.
Well, of course.
whether it's rain, sleet, or technological breakdowns.
Cornett's collectibles is always open.
Now, there's something that works.
We never sleep, as they used to say back in the old private eye business.
We never sleep.
And that's because we're always up late signing and sending and shipping and signing and shipping and shipping and sending all these items at Jim Cornett.
dot com, the action figures, the autographed photos that are the most inexpensive in the industry.
I want my signature and my smiling face to be available to the masses to all the biggest
amount of people possible.
We make it affordable for the common man to have a picture right up on the wall right
next to, I don't know, Jesus Christ or Mahatma Gandhi or whoever you're looking up to.
There's a picture of good old J.C. Jim K.
coronet, autographed, and the Hotchkiss, the Hotchkis,
Hotchkis Featherbottom and the entire Featherbottom family,
take pride in this.
And besides, with all of their various legal issues,
this is the only job they can get.
So if they don't ship shit out, they don't eat.
Well, you know, with that variety and number of offenses that close together,
you try getting gainful employment anywhere else besides,
an ex-wrestling manager.
Anyway, yes,
at Jimcornet.com, and boy,
howdy, we're getting
closer and closer to being able to announce
by the first of the month, we're going to announce
this huge, wonderful thing or things,
multiple things, actually.
It depends on how you look at it
that we're going to have on sale for the holidays.
I'm so proud.
I'm like a proud pappy.
I'm a poop deck pappy.
That's very proud.
That's right.
So anyway, what's on our poop deck for the show today, Pappy?
A lot of goons to fight through to get Pappy back home.
Jim, there's a lot of things happening in wrestling.
We have a lot to get through today.
We'll see if we...
Boy, I wish you'd have told me that because I was looking earlier.
I couldn't find any.
Well, not everything happens on TV.
I couldn't find any on Raw.
I couldn't find very many on Smackdown.
A lot of this takes place behind the scenes is what you're saying to me.
Well, Jim, we'll start with something that I think was sent to us.
more than anything else over the last week.
Oh, Christ.
Rick Flair.
Oh, great.
Has hit social media once again,
where he's had such success.
And in this case, social media hits back.
Well, it's been hitting back for a little while.
Remember, a few months ago,
he went to war with his son David on social media
and then walked that back.
He accused Jim Ross of looking for attention
when he announced he was fighting cancer.
And then he walked.
And then he walked that back.
And now, Ricka, I'll be walking out my tweets back.
And now what we're about to talk about, again, I'll just say it here.
I mean, it's pretty obvious, but he's putting it out there.
It's not like anyone chasing this story.
Yes.
Yes.
That's part of my, and on the last, what was the last one where, and we had, I,
I had been kind as possible to him over the last.
last Twitter controversy when just saying it's just, it's disappointing and it's unlike the
way that he conducted himself as a NWA champion, et cetera, et cetera. And he said in the middle of
tweeting about something else, he also tweeted, man, Jim Cordette, you have my phone number. We've
known each other for many years. If, you know, if you have anything to say, it's not like I was
criticizing what he did, but I wasn't dig it in.
on him, but I will say
today what I would say to him on the phone
and what I wish maybe Charlotte would say
or has somebody already said.
But he didn't heed that, but go ahead.
Well, Rick Flair put out a tweet,
a picture of him and Wendy.
I think they were married. If they weren't married,
they were certainly together.
They had a companionship for many years.
To bring people up to date, Wendy Barlow, she was Fifi, the maid when they did the segments in the 90s on the WCW program, and they met and they were not immediately an item, but after years they reconnected and they were together for years.
She was with him when he had that bad health issue.
I mean, a lot of people are going to say now which one, but you know what I'm saying.
and there was some controversy over they were saying they were married for a while,
but then when they broke up,
well, we weren't really married.
I don't understand.
Maybe he was the first guy in history.
It would be fitting that Rick Flair is the first guy to ever find a loophole in a marriage
certificate.
But then they went their separate ways here a while back.
So that's windy.
I mean, we're not saying anything.
derogatory about this young lady, just trying to bring people up on who she is in their relationship.
Fee-Fee the Maid, 1993 WCW, when Rick Flair had his talk show, a flare for the gold.
And then, of course, like you said, she is one of the people that we had heard really stuck by him
and helped him get back to whatever you want to say, positive health after his biggest medical issue.
And they was tweeting out family pictures.
I guess she has daughters.
And it was a period of time where perhaps
he was not making as many headlines
in a derogatory fashion, you know, as he is now.
I believe she may have also had a part to play in his social media back then
or had the ability to say you're not doing this anymore.
From what I understand it, I'm not exaggerating.
That's what I understand.
where Rick Flair this past weekend
tweeted out a photo of him and Wendy
and I'll read you what he wrote
I told you
it was only a matter of time
until you came running back
at least I know
I am in good hands
because you have always taken
the best care of me
out of anyone in the whole world
she finally figured out
there's only one Rick Flair
and one James Bond
and currently
Rick Flair is available
for any kind of action
What in the world
Let's see if Wendy still has it
LFG
He didn't even end it with Woo
He ended it with Let's Fucking Go
But there's a lot there to break down
Wait, I'm afraid, this is more like something that one James Bond and one Rick Flair.
He sounds like George Lassenby.
See, I thought that would pop you.
Yeah, well, but, you know, that'd be funny if he said this.
He's only one Chase Bond and it's George Lassonby.
Yeah, I mean, there's been multiple games.
I don't know.
Is this, has he become a Super Bowl of bipolarness in the same?
tweet. He's expressing
praise or love
or affection and
I told you so. Yeah.
I had to come back.
He goes from one to the other. He's in
gimmick, but he's not.
He don't, he's
taunting her, but he's
putting her over.
And even if some of this is, I can
understand we're, you know,
couples might have it inside
joke or what I told you he'd come running back or whatever.
The whole, the totality of Rick's tweets and things that he puts up on social media
give people so much room to make fun of him.
It is feeding on itself and it's snowballing.
And I don't understand why he doesn't see that.
because the comments of the people that are following him
or people that are responding to these tweets
are not, hey, champ, I mean, there's some, yes,
but a lot of it is, what the fuck is the matter with you?
Now imagine poor Wendy, who gets off the phone
after agreeing to meet up with Rick Flair,
oh, sure, I'll come see you.
There was only a matter of time.
That's what I don't understand.
Let's see if you still.
have it.
And then, unfortunately, you know, Rick may not still have it.
It may have been replaced.
He might have a new one of whatever it is at this point in time.
But here's the problem.
This is only the first tweet.
This is not the inevitable boomerang.
Boing.
The hangover.
The boomerang tweet where he clarifies.
That's what it is.
He clarifies the misconstitutional.
based on every single word that he said.
But when people misconstrue that,
they think that it means exactly what he said it means,
then he clarifies it,
and it means nothing like that.
And then they make fun of him again.
Because he's the one who's putting this out there.
Because he's, yes, he's, he's going out there
and punching himself in the fucking face on Broadway.
He doesn't have to do this.
I think last time, I forget what the fight was, but it was, he went off with someone,
either WWE or someone in his family, someone.
And then the next day it was like, why can't people be more positive on social media?
Yes.
Well, when we read, before we go to, but read the second one, because again, I just,
when I saw it, the first one, I,
I just cringed up because I said,
well, how is this supposed to be positive?
I sound like Sheikaz is supposed to positive
or is supposed to be negative.
Well, I got the second tweet here,
and this is not easy to read because he capitalizes,
or whoever does his social media,
capitalizes the first letter of every single word,
and this is a long one, so let me get to it.
Well, that's another thing.
That's another thing before we get into the second tweet.
People are mocking him for that.
I mean, Schittler randomly capitalizes,
things out of nowhere. Not the whole thing though. But not, no, this is every word. And if a word is a one
letter word like A, it's capitalized. And but the first, and I, I don't text, but I've been told
that you may have to do that on purpose, don't you? I mean, it's not, yeah, you have to choose that,
yes. People are making fun of him for it, because it looks,
somewhat odd, demented even. But go ahead.
Well, here is the day after tweet. Once again, another picture of him and Fifi.
Wendy and I are not renewing a relationship.
We already...
That's awful.
She read. I felt like I was good. The second line was going to be, she read yesterday's
tweet.
But this is, it's like when they hired Rousseau to come back to write for that 24 hours in 2001 or whatever.
All right, well, back to this.
Wendy and I are not renewing a relationship.
We are renewing a 34-year friendship.
She has her own residence, and I have mine.
She's coming to Tampa primarily to take care of her parents,
who are both in their 80s
and not in good health.
That was an integral part of what we needed.
That was an integral part of what we needed to know
in this situation that you have alerted us to.
Wendy will continue to do what she does best.
Travel the world and help people who are struggling in other countries.
What?
What does she do?
I,
she helps people.
If she's got two 80-something-year-old parents and Rick Flair to take care of,
I don't think she needs to leave the county to help people in trouble.
But is there, is she with UNICEF or what?
We might Google that later on and see if she's traveling all around the world
to help the little baby's, and the...
I'll resume that was a murder in the Orient Express, that woman.
I'll resume what I,
do and love most, which is attending public events and signing autographs at meet and greets.
Please don't turn something positive into something negative.
If that's all you have to do, find something better to do.
The one part I am sure of, which she reminds me whenever we speak, is that she will always be there for me if I get sick again.
And I was sick for two years.
Her whole family took care of me.
Find someone else to hate on.
Wendy and I are good.
Wait, wait, what?
We didn't, I had sympathy for the poor woman
when you announced that she had come running back to you,
groveling and sniveling about.
Yeah.
I, we wouldn't know anything about any of this
if he hadn't announced it.
And I don't,
and if he doesn't want people to misconstrue his meaning,
Brian,
you is a level-headed fellow,
a grown adult man,
a graduate of a major university.
The first tweet sounded like,
okay,
we're back on, baby.
Me and,
me and Wendy,
she's come running back to me.
She knew she couldn't live without me.
We're going to,
Forticate like rabbits day and night, that type of fucking tone.
But at the same time, belittling her for having to snivel back on her belly like a reptile.
And the next day, and when people express, you know, like, why are you talking about her like that?
Because read the comments and the thing.
The next day he says, what are you hating on Wendy for?
He was just slandering Wendy.
but we're not getting back together,
but we're renewing a friendship.
Well, you know, I don't know if we need to know
every time somebody renews an old friendship.
Brian, have you ever seen like anybody you went to summer camp with
or, you know, people that may have passed your presence
when you were a younger man?
You know, hey, let's tell the world that I saw Billy from fourth grade.
again, this all started the first lines.
I told you, it was only a matter of time until you came running back.
Two exclamation points.
Two.
Two.
Two.
Ponderous.
So I, what I'm saying to Rick, but I don't think it's revolutionary advice or anything that couldn't be set out in the open is just don't make premature statements or
statements that can be misconstrued because people have been with the constant barrage of bad
publicity that he got there for a while of late there's the only thing that people are making
fun of him about or getting on his case about is when he himself makes a public statement
of whether written or sometimes every once a while on video.
But he's keeping it alive,
but I don't think that's keeping his legacy alive
or the great memories alive.
I think it's keeping alive the fact that now people like to make fun of him
and shit on him and rat on him and whatever, rag on him.
Rat on it.
They used to rat on him.
Now they rag on him.
And he's doing it and stop capitalizing.
and and recognize that yes, you are a famous, you're an Errol Flynn level,
famous, you know, fucking ladies man,
but maybe back up on the fucking pictures of yourself with the,
you know, the 20-year-old women at the bar,
because everybody knows you still can,
but it gives more people an opportunity to make fun of you for doing it even though you can.
because, you know, as I've said before,
just because you can cut your own ear off,
don't make you Van Gogh.
Sometimes people can do things, but they shouldn't.
The kamikaze wasn't just a drink.
There was a choice for social media.
Woo!
Let's see if Wendy still has it.
Can you imagine she's reading this?
The first tweet,
was a frat boy bragging to his frat brothers about his ex-girlfriend who he heard from.
The second tweet was the frat boy reacting after his mom called and said,
we've got a problem because I heard from this girl and her parents.
The next tweet's going to be,
I shouldn't have said her parents are sick, but they're about to go.
And they'll be just me.
Let's see if she still has it.
And then the tweet at that'll be.
I didn't mean anything by that.
I just meant to see if she wants to go to dinner.
We've got,
where parents got a second opinion.
They're fine.
Well, we will,
we will stay.
We will stay on top of this story,
this self-induced story,
but, uh,
yeah, it's a story.
You say that there's nothing happening in wrestling.
There's nothing but great things happening in wrestling.
Jim.
Yes. Maybe the problem, and no one's really thinking about it is this isn't Rick Flair at all.
Maybe there's been a security breach. Maybe Rick Flair doesn't have the proper apparatus to protect his online persona.
Maybe this isn't Rick Flair at all. Maybe it's bizarre a Rick Flair. Maybe Rick Flair needs to protect himself online the same way the listeners can.
Maybe it's Rick Flair, but it's a hologram or a, uh, or a, uh,
telegram or some kind of gram, possibly a candy gram, and it's emanating from some kind of
hut in the Bahamas somewhere. You know, you never know how these people go to these links. You see it
on the news. They have documentaries about it where these thieves have reached genius level in being
able to steal your identity, steal your money, steal, they don't even have to be there. They don't have
to be able to be able to see your house. They don't have to be able to know where your bank is
physically, they just get online on this technology that's so wonderful.
And cyber crime, you know, they call it cyber when it's on the, you know, like the Avengers
when they fought the cybernots.
Cybercrime costs Americans $20.8 billion.
That is $20 billion, ladies and gentlemen, of your money that people get, they steal your
name, they seal your social security number, they steal the bank details, they open accounts,
they take money out, they put money in. The average victim, $20,000. And the senior citizens,
the most vulnerable people, the old people, the old sick parents of Fifi, they're probably
going to be broke next week because Rick Flair's called attention to them. Boom, somebody's going to
steal her identity. And then you're going to be.
just fucked. But Cover-on can put the cover on that. Brian, it's like a lid on a boiling pot.
Because as Michael Hayes used to say, and the peas wouldn't be jumping if the water wasn't hot.
You put to cover on that boiling pot, the cover on, boom, you cut all that shenanigans out. Because
cover-on is all in one cyber insurance, identity theft protection for you and your family. They
monitor the dark web exposure.
I wonder if my name is on a dark web somewhere.
The credit activity, the criminal records,
government ID use, they just monitor everybody.
See, you don't want criminals that are tied up into keeping track of everybody
and having everybody's information.
You want these here criminals to be on your side to commit crimes.
on the criminals. First of all, no one will be committing crime, let alone the people that were talking about. Oh, they're going to stop it. The people that cover on, they're going to stalk these criminals. They're going to track them down to thieves. They're going to be like the Charles Bronson. They're going to be the Charles Bronson of the cyber crime industry. They're going to track these some bitches down and they're going to alert you. Whenever suspicious activity or data breaches involving your information are detected,
They're going to come, they're going to put this giant fire department bell in your house.
And the bell's going to go out of it.
You know right there and burn all your fucking documents and throw all the money away.
You got to get out of town.
No, that's the bad guys.
See, you'll know when the bad guys are burning all their stuff and getting out of town
because cover on is after them.
Because they've got expert recovery specialists who guide you through the process of restoring your identity after a theft.
You know, they've even got a special.
special department.
Brian that will send a guy over and he'll spend two weeks with your mother
reminding her that you're you rather than the other person.
Because when they steal your identity, you know, they go the whole way.
And comprehensive insurance.
Yeah.
Wow.
Wow.
You know, they can give you coverage for identity theft recovery,
cyber extortion, online fraud,
even home title insurance with coverage limits up to $2 million.
Well, hell, and it's so cheap, go ahead and cover your neighbor's house on either side.
And that way, you know, if something happens, you could collect on theirs too.
They'd never know.
But that's the point, because they don't have cover on.
If they had cover on, they'd know you were trying to fuck them around.
See, it all goes back to that.
But boy, I'll tell you what, unless you're somebody like Vince Rousseau that,
that nobody would want to steal his identity in the first place,
then you need something like this.
Because who knows if you stop being you,
well, then you'll lose all the things that make you.
And as we mentioned earlier, Brian,
the last time we talked about this,
it's not been made law yet that if somebody steals your identity,
you at least get theirs.
That's not legal yet.
Because normally you just, well, give me yours.
And let's see, I'm fucking miserable anyway.
Once again, and we're going to begin going home and telling you about this great deal, but not all of this is the way things work.
And sometimes some of these examples may be metaphorical and digital and not necessarily.
Not necessarily empirical and practical.
Logical, I mean, what you're saying is.
But if you could show me a world where I could be so dependable, folks, one scam can cost you everything.
So protect yourself now the first hundred.

It'll come soon enough.
But in the meantime, if you live in the United States, put your cover on.
Just imagine you're going out for the first time with a stripper from Thailand.
Put your cover on.
Well, Jim, of course, once again, metaphorical, digital examples.
but everyone needs online protection,

cover on boy i tell you what you know that would be a steal somebody's identity and then you get to
go home with their family for thanksgiving and the poor identity theft victim be let out in a
cold especially at christmas looking in when the guy who stole his identity is there
cuddling up in the fireplace next to his wife and kids okay once again we're going to move
forward here but none of that will be happening if not with cover on you're protecting
with Cover-On. That's what we want to make sure we specify here at the end. Thank you, Cover-on,
for joining us here on the show. Jim, as we move on, a few more things before we get to
your Smackdown thoughts. I know a lot of people are looking forward to. This is coming in now
from several people, so I wasn't going to address this today, but I'll get your thoughts.
Oh, boy. Jain the Rock Johnson did an interview with Rolling Stone, apparently, and here's
the quote about him exploring a music career. I'm exploring that now.
And I appreciate you asking that.
As you roll along in life,
I've been real fortunate to be a part of some really cool projects and love it.
But music has always been such an anchor for me,
and very specifically in genres that I love,
like country music, traditional country music.
Oh, boy.
And we're exploring that now.
Oh, boy.
Well, Jim, what are your thoughts on Dwayne Johnson realizing
he's never getting an Oscar,
now he's going for a Grammy.
Well, first of all, as Bobby Eaton would say,
who's we?
You got a frog in your pocket?
We are exploring that now.
Possibly one member of that group of we
has a set of vocal cords that lends itself
to the musical industry.
Is he going to harmonize with invisible backup singers?
Or, I mean, if he could sing at a commercial level
that would be
traditional country music
any anything
any goddamn say sing for his supper
anything
if he could sing
good enough at a commercial level
to sell records
or to do it seriously
as to release something
that would be anything
other than just why are you fucking doing this
he'd been in Hollywood for 25 years
wouldn't he have done it by
now. First of all.
And secondly,
I'm trying to determine
what the crossover
audience is between
traditional country music
and the rock.
I mean,
what is the average age
of a fan of Tammy Wynette
dead?
So what is he
calling traditional country music?
The Patsy
songbook by
Juan Johnson.
Yeah, I think he's crazy.
I think he's stuck.
Because he's in a weird position
where he is one of the more recognizable faces
worldwide.
On the planet.
And people don't want to pay to see him.
And his movies have lost.
I don't, what is it?
Like, the thing was like seven years, eight years since any of his movies
have made money?
So now you're...
Well, I mean, it's, and I know some people,
who, you know, are going to go,
oh, that's Brian trying to knock the rock again.
But no, they're writing articles about that very thing
in the trade publications now
that the Rock's movies are not making money.
And the Rock makes money, but the Rock's movies don't make money.
That's right. I called this out a few years ago.
This was all going to come to light, and it has,
on top of his involvement slash non-involvement at times
with WWE and TKO.
Well, but to the point you were,
make it is he stuck because okay the movies aren't making a lot of money so the producers have
obviously started balking at paying the high price for him with lack of results the
wwee paid him tens of millions of dollars in stock and cash to come in and fuck up the creative
in front of russimedia two years in a row but he hadn't been around in a while
I don't
you know
if I was him
is it because they don't want to pay to see him
because they can't fucking get away from him
he's everywhere he's telling us everything he does
and he's commenting on world issues
and you know he talks about acting
like he's James fucking Lipton
is it that everybody just needs to get away from the rock
for a little while not that they need to hear him singing to them
You know, I always called them the male J-Lo, and I think that is the best example.
Jennifer Lopez is a major star.
I don't know anyone that buys any of her records.
I don't know anyone that goes to see her in a movie.
Maybe her concert tours do better than the other things,
but I don't think those are anywhere near where they were a while back,
but she's a major star.
The Rock, I don't think anything's going to change with the movies.
I don't think his obnoxious,
tone-deaf interviews affect that.
I think when people see it, they laugh about it
because he just seems unnaturally douchy
trying to be...
You know, I said it last time he talks like he's Peter Bogdanovich.
Well, he's a no-it-all fellow, a very learned fellow.
I don't know if that affects it as much as no one wants to see these movies.
And he was someone who went to Hollywood, lost a ton of weight,
tried to get serious roles, got a few that made an impact
that people noticed.
Then he did a bunch of kid stuff for Disney.
And then when nothing was going anywhere,
he got as pumped up as he ever...
He got more pumped up than he ever was in his wrestling career.
And that changed things.
Because all of a sudden, now he was doing action movies.
Some of them were established brands,
like Fast and Furious.
And also, that should have been what he was doing
before he had to fucking pump up the volume again.
Because I...
I'm sorry, nobody...
wanted to see The Rock
as a serious actor in
Disney movies or whatever they wanted
he's a fucking action star
he's Stallone he's Schwarzenegger
I'm sorry go ahead
but I don't think anyone really wants to see those movies
and we've seen the last several
years we talked about each one of them before they came out
and people told me I was being a hater they were going to make tons of money
smashing machine went nowhere
quick
Moana is an epic Disney
financial loss the live
action Moana, which was a bad idea and looks atrociously funny when you see the images of
Dwayne Johnson and the fucking wig.
The Santa Claus movie or whatever Amazon did a few years ago, that lost a ton of money.
No one wanted to see that.
I don't know if there's going to be too many projects that people want to say.
He's going to be a part of apparently a Martin Scorsese project.
I mean, that's probably the best chance he has because people will still give Scorsese
and Leonardo DiCaprio a chance.
well but here as far as the music thing again i don't think it's going to go very far and it's just
going to be another thing cluttering the landscape up with the rock's name on it probably he's
doing it because he has hundreds of millions of dollars respect my authoritile do what i want
and he does like country music so he might just be doing it for himself and it doesn't have to go
anywhere. I don't know.
But I think what you said,
the J-Lo thing, she'd still draw
in concert because she's a star.
And people would go to
and she is most
affiliated with or
associated with in people's
minds, music,
to probably most extent.
If the Rock
told the WWE, hey, book
me 30 dates next year,
he'd fucking set record
gates in 28 and a half
of them. The people would still come to see him wrestle, but the problem is you can sing a whole lot
easier when you're older than you can wrestle. And so I, do you think the rock's going to have
a Vegas residency at some point where he just does like a one-man rock show where he does like,
you know, a little bit about wrestling and some music, talks about his movies, because that may be
the best avenue for that's where J-Lo is now. She's in Vegas. She's in Vegas. I swear to go, I
say again, why does he need a fucking avenue?
Why couldn't he just come up against a brick wall and say, okay, I'm 50, how old is he?
50, whatever the fuck years old.
And I've got all the money that a human being could ever spend.
I'm going to buy me an island or just a county somewhere.
If he doesn't want to, you know, go beachfront, he can go inland.
Here, I'll just buy fucking Wartburg County.
And I'll put my house in the middle and I'll do what I want forever.
Why the fuck does everybody have a goddamn avenue?
I think the stuff with DC and Black Adam expose the real thing,
which is he wants to be a mogul.
When you see him do these interviews, he's talking the way he thinks the mogul's talk.
He's talking the way he thinks you're supposed to talk.
I just don't think he has anything behind the fact.
Like, the only thing to have is the brand of the rock.
Just him being the rock and filming himself.
talking to people and interacting with people.
As the rock.
But boy, I hope he saved all that money he made.
I'm sure he has, but.
How would you not, how would you, again, just,
who was it you say I'd like to be at their place on Christmas morning
just after the fucking presents had been open to clean up scraps under the tree?
How would you not just have enough money for the rest of your life,
just laying around it you've misplaced?
I'm sure he does.
Once you've gotten that position.
I'm sure he does.
And, of course, he's so well with his social media campaigns for In-N-Out Burger and giving away trucks.
But we'll see what happens.
I hope he makes this album.
I hope there's a making-up video more than anything in the world.
So we'll laugh about that, but we'll stay on top of the Rock's music news, not in rock.
Traditional country.
Jim, as we move on here, let me play some audio.
This was posted to the Culta Cornet Facebook group by Christine.
the annunzio.
Forgive me if I missed this being covered before,
but I ran across this video and I'm curious to hear Jim's thoughts
on Sable's response to China.
Was she just that delusional or did she really believe she could take her?
I'd like to think this is a work,
but Sable isn't that good an actress,
and I have video here.
Well, now hold on one second.
This is Sable's response to China.
what is the bone of contention here?
What did China say?
Or will it be obvious when we hear this?
Does Sable actually communicate well enough to go,
she said so-and-so?
I think it'll be obvious.
This is a video.
I'm not sure what show this is,
but it's an interviewer talking to Sable, China, and Deborah.
And let's get this audio.
This is from 1999.
Oh, boy.
Sable will wrestle China for the women's
title.
I can answer that.
All right,
you're up.
I have absolutely
no interest in the women's belt.
First of all, it would
take me two seconds to get it.
Let me just be the first to say
that you and I have never fought to you
are totally not sure of yourself
about that.
Oh, good Lord.
Let me stop it there because what a comeback.
I was about to say stop it there.
What a comeback.
That tortured syntax,
that was around your elbow to get
to your wrist.
First of all, let me explain it.
Sable was not smart to the business.
I mean, she was smart that the business was a work,
but she was in no way smart to the psychology of the business
or who should say what or do what.
And China, I will give it to her there.
That's a perfect fucking heel line.
And look at China, she's bigger than everybody else,
and that's her gimmick than she was saying
that she didn't care about the women's title that, you know, because she wanted to wrestle
for the men's titles. That was the angle that they were doing with her. So that's something
that she should have said and Sable could come back and say, well, hey, I might not, if she's a
baby face, I might not be as big as you, as strong as you, or have as big a mouth as you, or
just something like that. But she took it personally because she's only been around the
fucking wrestling business
for however long she's been with Mark Merrow
and never been in it until three months
before this fucking happened
and she's like
thinking, well, these catty fucking women.
Go ahead, I'm on a soap bag.
Well, again, she had been there a little while.
She had been getting her big push and of course China was also
getting a big push at the same time. They were
you know, kind of two different things happening.
But let's go back to this.
China and Sable with Deborah
not saying anything.
That doesn't think that I could squash Sable and
the second. Everyone's entitled to their own opinion but I have a lot of confidence in myself
and I say you can't. You know I think it takes a lot of uh doesn't take a lot of guts for
China to say what she just said but I think it really demean the women's division and she needs
to remember that this is a company and we all work for the same company and just because
we don't do exactly the same things you do to get the body you have doesn't mean that
you're any better than we are. The issue is whether I can beat you
or not, I'm twice your size.
I have twice your strength.
And why are you twice my size and twice my strength?
Because I am.
That's why this.
Holy shit.
And I could talk.
Hold on.
Hold on.
Hold the phone here.
Pump the brakes.
If China's holding back because when she first said, well, I don't do what you do
to get a body like that.
And China could have looked at her like Lawler looked at Kaufman on the fucking
Letterman show and said, well, I don't do what you do to get a body like that either.
What kind of guy are you?
What kind of guy are you?
What kind of girl are you?
How many of those parts are real and how many are artificial?
But she's trying to fucking make China admit that she's on a sauce on goddamn television.
Seconds after she said, we both work for the same company.
Yeah, we both.
Let's pull together at the same team.
And by the way, you're a fucking drug abuser.
What are you saying, Samuel?
You know, I work out just as hard as you do, but I do not supplement my body the way you do either.
Wow.
Good old-fashioned cat fight, and I think we've got one.
It depends on whether you call that stuff supplement.
Excuse me.
Excuse me.
I think you've been a plastic surgeon a lot more than I have, honey.
This is built by me.
I've got a jam-packed audience here.
Well, there it is, the all-natural sable.
Oh, yeah.
the all natural, save a 100% natural, no synthetic ingredients.
She took it personally and immediately just went as hard in as she could on goddamn
anything that she could in the middle of, and again, it's like, what is that four years,
five years after Vincent got off for the steroid thing.
To that point, this is 1999.
After this is over, how do you think Triple H reacts?
you got the heat for not doing anything.
Yeah, they got mad at me when I told the fucking independent promoter
that China couldn't make the date because she was going to the dentist.
I didn't know she was having her jaw fucking realigned.
I just thought she was having a goddamn root canal.
They said, oh, he told about the fucking dental surgery.
How about the fucking goddamn 10 Diana Ball a day,
as Hercules Hernandez said in his promo one time in mid-south.
Yeah, no, what, there was nuclear heat on that fucking...
I mean, Deborah's sitting there.
Deborah does not...
You don't hear Deborah.
Debra.
Oh, no.
I bet if she could have had the power of Sue Storm,
she could have become invisible and just disappeared right off that fucking couch.
The best-looking one of the three was sitting there silent while this is going on.
I'm hoping they wouldn't talk to her.
You think, if I looked down,
and make myself smaller.
I don't think they'll notice me.
See, this would have been really good if Tammy was in there, too,
and just the three of them.
Oh, Christ.
Tammy and China going at it would have been the greatest.
It would have got physical.
If Tammy had been there to fucking light diffuse on that,
they all three would have just started punching each other in the face.
Well, there it is.
The 1999 interview where China and Sable went at it.
A lot of listeners wanted to hear your thoughts.
Jim, several.
listeners have sent
I got a couple clips here
let me see which one to play
NXT as a
You don't want to play all the clips
some of these listeners send
boy howdy
I didn't know they made
those kind of home movies
This one apparently is
I'm not sure
I guess WWE must have filmed this
It's from the SummerSlam
tryouts
NXT's head writer
Johnny Russo
Oh good Lord
Was teaching wrestlers
What not to do
wait wait a minute wait a minute if in
wouldn't that be like
somebody comes along once to get
in the army in Germany and
fucking 1972 and his
last name is Hitler wouldn't you change
your name? Well again I'm assuming
no relation. I'm seriously wouldn't
if you wanted to be a writer in wrestling
wouldn't you you don't have to
legally do it just come up with
a gimmick name that you call yourself
Michael Hayes
that's not his real fucking name but wouldn't
you would you just
take that shame upon yourself willingly?
Go ahead.
Well, we have audio here that I'm assuming
WWE film from the tryouts of Johnny Russo,
NXT head writer, teaching young wrestlers
or young trainees.
Now, wait a minute, he's one of the fucking coaches
or the teachers in this?
In this video, he's not in the ring or anything,
but he's teaching them about promos.
And there's a bunch of wrestlers
or wrestling students sitting in
the bleachers or sitting in the seats while he talks to all of them. Let's go to this.
Don't talk in phrases. Talking complete senses. So when I talk like this, I don't sound like a real
person. Just talk normally. Don't ask questions. No one's answering. Hey, you got you want to know
something? No one says anything and you continue. Don't ask questions. Just say what you guys say.
What? Don't be generic. Her a lot of
generic stuff.
I want to be the best I can be.
This is my dream.
Hold on here a second.
I'm,
I'm,
I'm,
hold on.
Just pause it for a second.
I don't want to lose all these points.
Number one,
yeah,
it might be a thing that you do
to talk in complete sentences.
How about brush your teeth every morning while you're at it?
Hey,
eat once or twice a day.
Who has to be told to speak in complete
fucking sentences?
It's only if you've memorized.
I memorize shit that you fucking, oh my God, they give me two pages of this fucking
direct that I'm scared not to say word for word.
That's when you start pausing every three or four words or so.
His second point was don't ask questions.
So what do you want to talk about?
Well, yeah, ha, ha, ha, I didn't think about that.
God damn it.
he's talking about don't ask questions like you want me to tell you something or whatever but no especially if a heel gets on a roll he's going to ask a bunch of questions he's going to especially if he's got an announcer to work off of he's going to ask a bunch of questions he's going to ask questions that the announcers can say yes to if it's beneficial to him did i indeed win that match did the referee raise my hand well yes okay or just to ask questions to answer them on his
own or different ways that you could so you can't make a blanket statement about that.
And what was this third thing, which started getting me thinking, I think, but we can go back
and play it if you're saying. Yeah, well, again, I want to be the best I can be. That's what
everybody says and they're writing the shit. I want to be the best I can be or I want you to be the best
I want you when I get you
to be the best I can be
or it's been my dream to be here
or I've my
the world will cease to exist
for me without this
and I will take up the monastery
they're writing it
so then don't fucking write them to
say that.
All right.
Yeah, that would be one of the first things
I banned is the whole like,
I'm so happy to be here,
it's my dream,
don't talk about any of that kind of stuff.
Wouldn't it?
A heel needs to cut,
Logan Paul.
By the way,
who, again, is a natural prick,
and those have been valuable for years in this industry.
Who's it? You're lucky to have me.
I'm a goddamn international yacht broker from Toulin, France, baby.
I have money follows me everywhere I go,
and you're lucky to have me.
You finally got graced by a real superstar instead of,
oh, it's always been my dream to come here.
Yes, I'll clean the toilets and just give me gruel.
Just say what you guys say. Don't be generic.
Her a lot of generics stuff.
I want to be the best I can be.
This is my dream.
I work hard.
How is that unique to you?
Everyone's journey is different.
No one person is the same.
Even the tag team.
You guys have a different.
Sorry, journey.
How does that make me different?
How do you stand out from that?
Any questions?
How would you say that you effectively moved during the problem?
In case you couldn't hear that, the question was, how would you say you effectively move during a promo?
As long as it doesn't take away.
If you're like, I'm Ryan.
I'm here.
But if you're just going and walking and it doesn't take away from the promo, it's not distracting.
Same thing with your hands.
If I'm doing this talking, you're like, what are you doing this hand?
But if you do like, if I'm just talking and emphasizing, that's fine.
Great first day.
Here we go.
Well, that was...
Ha, ha, ha, ha, fuck.
I thought everybody...
And the students bought for them.
That was some revolutionary advice
that was given there, Brian.
And don't wave your hands over your head
and scream like a chicken
when you're doing your promos.
This is...
This is a goddamn...
It used to just be you could watch promos
and understand.
what to do and what not to do if you were smart.
Well, but also, let me be fair.
No, and I was nervous.
I didn't have the flexibility of a goddamn Olga Corbett
when I was out there on promos at first because I was scared.
When I was first starting, oh, shit, I don't know to fuck this up.
But as is live TV, I did my first fucking television interviews on a live
broadcast or reached the same number of people as watch collision.
in this country now.
So you're a little tighter and you're not,
your movement, your shoulders are a little tighter in your neck
and your arms may not flap about as normally as they might
if you were really into something.
And that comes with experience.
But basically, that's what,
in the territory days,
if you were a young guy, a wrestler, manager, doing anything,
of the referees, anybody that went out and did anything
that could be made fucking fun of
by the guys on top or the veterans
or the just people who were actually smart to the business,
they would make merciless fun out of you
for doing whatever the fuck it was you were doing.
Until you learned not to do those things
that made you look stupid or didn't work or whatever the fuck.
And, you know, after a week or two around the horn,
you'd lose most of the thing.
of your bad habits.
But now I don't know if anybody is
allowed in this
system to just fucking blister
and make fun of people and shame
them into goddamn not doing stupid shit
anymore. Or if they just
think that this is
expert advice from the
corporate office, yeah, don't
fucking wave your hands in the air and
speak in complete sentences
like a normal human being would.
And try not to just say the
same shit everybody else says.
We say that every goddamn show.
Yeah, we say that because that's exactly what kind of promos we get.
I mean, that's not the students.
That's what they're doing.
And he's the one of the ones that's writing it.
So what the fuck is going on here anyway?
And who is this man, Johnny Russo, the head writer of NXT?
I suspect, I'm telling you, it's, you know, possibly he's,
even if he's related by marriage or something.
They're trying to infiltrate again.
I mean, that's like a doctor, you know,
giving advice to a group of medical students
and saying, okay, yeah, stay off heroin
and drink eight ounces of water a day.
If this guy has no wrestling experience,
I don't even know what kind of fandom to that point,
and he's the head writer for NXT,
you do have to wonder if he's ever seen a good promo.
or if he has any understanding of it.
He's just giving generic advice that you would think anyone could give a wrestling promo class.
And meanwhile, you see the end results and almost everything he's saying don't do is exactly what they do.
Well, yeah, but they have the biggest archive and history of archives of wrestling through the centuries.
So one would think he's seen something just by osmosis.
And possibly he's just, okay, I'm, I'm, I'm,
committed to having to say something to these fucking people, so I'm going to give
some basic advice for three minutes, so I've done my duty, and I bid you
a good day. Well, that is the NXT promo news, and with that, we will bid everyone a good day
for a moment. We will be right back after these messages.
All right. See, I keep it quick, you can't make any of your incendiary remarks behind it.
Incendiary remarks. Well, flame on. Yeah, you call them incendiary
remarks, because every time you play the organ, I just want to burst into flames.
All right, well, that's not very nice.
But Jim, speaking of bursting into flames, seemingly, that never happens on WWE Smackdown,
but this past week, I know we're reviewing it a few days late, but there were several
notable things to talk about on this post-Somerslam edition of Smackdown.
Well, and we're getting to it late, just to be honest with everybody, because we always tell
the truth to the people, the cult of Cornad.
It happened right after we
recorded the last show and we didn't want to come
back and to record again. We were just
we're about to get into that. You see where I'm
going with this. Because it
wasn't nobody,
no one was harmed in the making
of the motion picture.
And what we've got now is
they've got the best talkers in the
company talking
to each other.
And I want to see the matches
that are going to result in all of this
conversation or result from all this conversation.
But there was a lot of conversation.
What was old song, Bride, a little less conversation, a little more action?
All this talk ain't satisfaction in me.
Because the problem now is, and we're going to talk about because Cody confronted
punk and then punk was confronted by Owens, but then, wait a minute, who confronted who?
then Orton was there and was confronted by Cody.
A lot of people are confronting people.
And they're all goddamn baby faces.
And yes, they are the best promo guys, some of them, most of them,
in the company all together in this group here.
But they can't, nobody can let loose.
And because what I was really looking forward to was Owens and,
and punk because both those guys i've never said owens couldn't talk he is very he's a very cunning linguist
and both those guys if they wanted to have the talent to just fucking dig into the goddamn other guy
and shame them to the point where they would want to fucking hop on a box car and
you know all the way to south georgia or whatever the fuck just get out of town
but they can't really because, number one,
I don't think they like each other for real,
and so they're probably trying to be professional
and err on some side of that,
but mostly because to do that fully,
one of them would have to be a heel that just dug into the,
you fat, sloppy motherfucker, you fucking,
your bathtub has stretch marks type of shit.
Or, conversely, Owen,
just cutting punk down and making mockery of his fucking straight-edge tattoo bullshit,
whatever.
And they're both having to be themselves.
The fans like both of them, they can't just suddenly start, you know, being obscene,
kicking people into balls and doing heel shit for no apparent reason.
they're having to both be
as they said in the interview
we'll be professional, we're not going to fight
but they're also not really digging into anybody
and
Punk and Cody
neither one of them is really digging into
Cody offered
I'm getting ahead of myself but this whole thing
was together
Cody was out there and he didn't want
to think that punk didn't
that Orton, or how am I saying this?
Cody didn't want to think, don't laugh at me.
It's not easy to explain.
It's not easy to explain.
Cody didn't want to think that Punk knew that Orton was going to come out in his
match with and do what he did, right?
Because in the match, punk never saw Orton.
But Cody, you know, I don't want to think he knew that he was
coming out. But, you know, Pug comes out, goes straight to the ring, big response.
Again, you know, the way that Cody has just been, and he seems a little annoying at this point,
Pug says, you got something, you want to ask me, did you know about Randy Orton?
And the fans were chatting, yes, yes, they wanted him to have known.
And I'm like, what the, this is what happened?
happens when you put baby faces against each other, people start picking the fucking
side. And so punk said, well, it kind of hurts you have to ask that, but no, I didn't
know. And the fan's booed. It's like, oh, shit, you weren't in on it. I remember, oh, goddamn,
he wasn't part of the conspiracy. And punk said, I'm pissed about it too. So let's go find
Randy Orden will beat his ass together. And they didn't like that really either.
We get together to jump the heel.
Yeah, to jump the fucking guy two on one him.
But Orton's not a heel because goddamn the people like Orden better than they're like Cody.
So this, I'm saying, so Cody said, I'm going to find Orton tonight and I'm going to kick his ass myself.
So he was going to find Randini's going to kick his ass.
That's pretty well stated.
And then Cody leaves and Punk said, well, you know that unfinished business between you and
me just say when.
Playing on their previous, you know,
when the shoe was on the other fucking clot hopper.
But then as Cody's on his way back here,
here comes Kevin Owens.
And they have the tense passing of the ships in the night.
And then Owens and Punk face off in the ring and the nose to nose and the milking.
And they even had all this and the stooges come out.
But they milked it all.
while the people were up to see this, right?
Okay, yeah, we're going to hear some shit now.
And they finally, they promised all this they'd be professional when they started speaking.
And Owen starts, again, he's a baby face.
He's been injured for a year and a half.
He said 17 months is a long time not to be able to do what you want to do.
And the fans, I think they couldn't agree on the chant.
I heard you deserve it.
you still got it.
But they were, their sentiment was there.
And Owens' whole promo is people told me that Phil's changed, but I never bought it.
Because you think that you're better than everybody else.
And that makes you the same arrogant sociopath.
I'm like, God.
So one of the baby faces is called the biggest baby face to company from response in the
buildings, an arrogant sociopath.
sociopath. By the way, that's a pretty stupid argument. Of all the things you could say,
you haven't changed, and here's why, you haven't changed. Again, as Pump points out,
he calls himself the best in the world that's his gimmick, it's on his shirts.
Yeah. Why would this all of a sudden now be like the thing? Of all the things they could have
run to, I don't know. Well, but hold on here, because also besides that, when, when you think
about it, if he wanted to make a case, it feels changed, but I never,
bought it. You think you're better than everybody else. You talk behind people's backs.
He could have said it in plainer language that might have been a little more believable
and just jumping right into arrogant sociopaths, which for about half the audience, they probably
think, my God, that was Jack the Ripper, right? So then punk, I thought won this verbal war,
and I like Owens' promo shit.
But I thought Punk that won this verbal war
because he had a more natural, again, way of delivering this,
I'm the best of the world because I back it up.
This belt, you know, tells that.
You should appreciate the arrogance
because I've knocked down doors for guys like you.
They called me skinny fat.
You think they were waiting for fucking Kevin Owens?
that would i thought i said okay punk's about to turn heel here because that was starting to get into
the meat of the matter but see no one goes back to well now i don't just get to win the title i get to
humble you and beat your ass for it and again punk is if it wasn't for me you'd be working nine
to five and be a weekend warrior on the indies and calling me for wd tv e tickets but i
I'm the best in the world and basically look at you.
That's pretty much what the fuck punk has to say,
and he could go further if he was going to be a heel.
But Owens, it was prepared.
Well, you've shown me what not to do.
It must be lonely up there on your pedestal.
I wrote, there's no heel here to make this interesting.
But then finally, Owen's called.
punk a miserable piece of shit and they shoved and all the officials came in and nobody fought.
But do you see what I'm saying compared to days gone by when the best in the business would
just hop into a son of a bitch with both feet?
This was not heated as these two guys are capable of, but both of them have to be somewhat
honorable
or am I just
disappointed in being picky?
I don't think you're being too picky.
I think it could have been more. I think if it was more
it had the chance to really get a whole lot more attention.
But it was still pretty good for what it was.
Again, I don't know about, you know, it's weird. The guys who
get in the ring and do
you know, promos where you kind of get close to
to the complete truth and then walk back and bring it back.
Since AEW, the ones who do it with punk, it's like they have an issue with punk that they
never can spell out or say.
Yeah.
You just think you're so great.
Okay, there's plenty of arrogant fucking people in wrestling.
What the fuck?
Yeah, I think almost everybody on the show is talking about how great they are.
In terms of the baby faces thing, I mean, this is a weird thing where, I mean, technically
Owens is a baby face.
think? He just came back from this big injury and won this match to a big pop. He'd be the most
sympathetic heel in the history of mankind after coming back a year and a half and
fight Owen's fight and all that other shit. He's going to be a baby face. One would think
for a while, whether they like it or not. Punk's a clear-cut baby face. Cody's at a point now where
and he showed enough anger a little bit, the fans may start turning him, whether he wants to turn
or they want him to turn or not,
especially if he's going to be feuding
with Randy Orton again.
Yeah.
I still think the long game is Cody as a heel.
Let him finally sell out to the rock
or whatever you want to do to make him this like ultimate
Thanos-like figure that Roman's going after
and punk's going.
Everyone's trying to stop Cody, the golden boy.
That would kill him as a heel if he sold out to the rock.
Then people would just say, oh, fuck it, I don't care.
But I think he should be the golden boy.
but he should be his own golden boy.
That would be, he would be the hottest heel.
If he just went with it all the way, I am the chosen one, the golden child.
It's time you people realize this.
Look at how I've polished myself for you people.
I wear the suits and I speak eloquently.
And my hair is perfect.
But again, I think if this had been just a little bit more,
some more live shots, something.
felt more like it had some impact or something.
Boom, boom, boom, boom, yes.
I think people were ready to really react to something like that, especially on social media.
But instead it was just another Smackdown.
Well, they laid the Smackdown, but nobody really roasted anybody.
Would you say, Brian, this wasn't really a roast between two of the most talented
verbal artist in the industry.
It wasn't a sizzling, you know, scalding burn session.
It was just more like a little back and forth
and well, and I know you are, but what am I?
That type of thing.
But we didn't really, we didn't, we didn't just barbecue anybody, did we?
Not at all.
And this is barbecue season.
So that means somebody's got to get barbecue.
Fried or broiled, the cow must die.
Something must get barbecued.
Why don't we just...
Well, you know, it just depends on your whole context.
of things. What if you're a chicken?
Then if you're sitting there
say, you know, you remember Sam?
Yeah, he got barbecued.
Somebody got barbecued last week. It was Sam.
That's, you know, it just depends on
what part of the animal kingdom you're
coming from. But folks,
you don't have to be far up the food chain
to know. No, let's get away from chicken.
Yes, well, let's, you know, that's what the
chick-fil-a fucking cows say, eat more chicken.
Easy for you to say. But you don't have to
cow that's well unless you know the bulls are not happy about it because they get you know they get
those little chicken stuck between their fucking legs nevertheless folks again if you'd like to cook
animals in your backyard the way many people do in the summertime then you don't want the little
teeny tiny ones the little cornish game hens and things to get to just or even the fish the
fishies that come from the sea.
When you catch them, you try to put
them on the grill in the backyard. It falls
apart when you try to flip it
and you can't flip it good.
Do, do, do, do, no.
So stop that flip
and get the
Hex-clad
barbecue collection
because now you can
do vegetables on the grill
instead of having them fall through the gates
or the gates of the grates.
Gates of steel was another song.
on that album. You can
have fish, not fall apart.
You can take all kinds of other things
and you don't have to lose them all
into grill and only just to cook the big hunks of
things because sometimes you want a little bit
instead of a big hunk. The hex-clad barbecue grill
pan combines the searing power of stainless steel,
the durability of cast iron, and the convenience
of non-stick all in one versatile grilling pan.
they're very versatile.
And they've launched the new barbecue grill topper,
which gives you more control when cooking the delicate foods,
veggies and seafoods, or multiple portions.
And of course, if you want the barbecue bundle,
that's the whole smear,
the whole nine yards, the whole kitten caboodle,
the whole shebang.
You get the barbecue grill pan,
the hybrid cutting board, and the carving set.
These are knives that will cut,
the tension in a fucking
WWE board meeting
and writers room. I'll tell you what, they are
sharp. So you have everything that
you need to grill, prep,
carve, and serve
without using all the
fucking stinky shit you've probably got
in your kitchen now. Now we got the
hex clad, Brian. We don't
want anything else. All the other pans
look like we're living in
some kind of goddamn low-income
housing on the edge of the
goddamn wilderness, possibly
out even in the woods in a mud hut.
That's how fucking
fancy in space age this stuff
is. You can put in the
dishwasher, you can wipe it off with a
sponge and it's clean.
You can try to bake the shit out of
this stuff. It won't melt up to
900 degrees.
It's nine, boy, I'll tell you what,
again, if somebody's trying to climb in the
window, one shot over
the cranium with one of these frying pans
will give them second thoughts.
Brian, you love it.
the hex clad is how many people have you hit up there in jersey with this thing over the head once again
no one is to use these items as a weapon they are only a weapon of cooking fun or deliciousness
they they signed this agreement at the uh at the yalta conference i called it malta the other day
several people got in touch with me but they also they signed a special agreement also limiting
the uses of frying pans and hex clads variety being hit over the
the head with people.
Once again, we're talking about
the greatest items you will have in your kitchen
collection if we're going based on how my wife feels,
the wonderful hexclad products,
the hexclad barbecue equipment,
and these are for cooking
and not for hitting,
but Jim, let's hit the listeners with a great deal.
Well, that's right.
We're not going to hit your wallet.
We're going to help your wallet.
We're going to raise your wallet up to the scouting.
folks, because if you are going to spend time behind the grill this summer,
or actually just walk out in your backyard and just hold the steaks in your bare hands,
they'll fucking cook in this weather.
But don't make it harder that it needs to be.
Stop losing food through the grates.
Stop with the massive cleanup project.
Make your food taste better.
Upgrade the backyard cooking setup with the barbecue collection from Hexclad.
And for a limited time only until they run out of these.

We love them and we love to cook them
with the inside and outside and all around the house.
These things are the last ones you're ever going to need.
They're very durable and versatile.
I would venture to say you could take an industrial blow torch
to one of these fine items.
I'm dare to say, don't do that, but I would dare to say that, as Jim said,
Hexclet is a great deal for you.
He'll put a deal on you.
Well, that's right.
Because you're mine.

Acetylene blow torch type of thing now.
Let's not worry about that.
Well, no, certainly it would be cheaper to get the hex clad stuff
than to go to all the trouble of getting the blow torch.
Where is screaming Jay Hawkins when you need them?
Once again, a great deal for the listeners,
hexclad.com slash JCE 10% off.
We love these products here in this house.
You'll love them too.
Jim, let's get out of the front.
pan and back into
hey I've got
I just want to bring this up because
you know I've been predicting
predictifying I've been
prognosticating and predictifying
something for a while Brian we have
talked about even back when I was still
over the last couple years that I was still
a traveling man when I was
making a lot of stops all over the world
I would stop at Wendy's
and I talked about the decline of Wendy's
and they changed their fries and they changed
their meat and they didn't squash it enough and they changed the pickles at one point and they did
this and that and the other goddamn thing and apparently they have not only not improved upon that or
turned things around but the news has come out now windies they got an article here on the on the
inner webs they got another big problem franchisees are closing their locations and heading for the
hills. They had a second quarter earnings call, 289 locations of Wendy's closed in the United
States during the first half of this year. And there's there's about 5,700 of them, which may be
part of the problem when you've got a mile in between Wendy's, how much business is an individual
Wendy's got, you see what I'm saying here. But nevertheless, the new CEO, Bob Wright, that
was that was jerry jarrott's bookkeeper's name bob right because it was it was teenie's brother
i think a brother-in-law i think teeny's brother-in-law whatever the fuck but anyway he wrote the checks
the new CEO bob right uh is playing down the closing of the restaurants if we need to close
a few restaurants here and there to make a portfolio a little bit healthier well maybe that's
fine. But basically, their same restaurant sales crashed 7% in the second quarter versus
2.3% drop a year earlier. Adjusted operating profits tanked 13.2% year over year.
Wendy's stock has fallen 65% in the past five years. And basically, the bottom line is
Wendy's, it says, remains a disaster.
Don't expect any turnaround in the business until early 2027 at the earliest.
I don't know.
If Dave Thomas was alive today, he'd be spinning in his grave.
It's the quality issues, I think, that have built up over time.
And I was a big fan of the grilled chicken sandwich.
I always say it.
But whenever my kids wanted fast food, I knew, okay, if we get Wendy's, I have an option
that ain't so bad, and it's tasty.
They got rid of that.
They introduced other things, didn't interest me.
It felt like the quality of the food went down and was inconsistent.
And I don't think I'm unique saying that about Wendy's.
Again, my kids are the age where they like fast food every now and then.
And Wendy's was always the one we would prefer.
Susanne always preferred it because they had healthier options than McDonald's, for instance.
But not anymore.
It's just, it's not good anymore.
They've really dropped the...
The Frosties are good.
still, but that's it.
It used to be
that the closer you got to Columbus,
Ohio, the better the Wendy's got.
And I have
to think that was because they had some
type of quality control people
circulating the corporate headquarters.
But once
you got, you know, down to
South Georgia, they were fucking iffy.
Anyway,
I just wanted to bring that up.
I forgot there's more of Raw, wasn't there?
Or SmackDown or whatever program.
him we were talking about. But Burger King is now
number two again. I did see something that said that
and it must be in relation to this. Well, that's
because you know they got a new king
and it's you. And it's you.
Back to
you talking about Smackdown,
my friend. Back to the old king. Oh,
the Smackdown. Well, because we got it now, we
got Cody has to confront Orton.
And Orton came out and got a big
response and
started to speak and admitted
a word and a half and Cody's music played and here he came
and Cody slid in and Orton bailed out like a heel right
and Cody's mad in the ring and he's cutting a promo get in here
and said him and Orton teased like he was going to get in and walked off
he's doing the healy shit the people are loving it
and Cody you owe me an explanation
and this was one of the better promos of Randolph
Randy Orton's career.
He said, are you crazy?
You asked for this.
You wanted the best Randy Orton.
Well, we were saying, yeah, why would you want the best of these motherfuckers?
Right?
You want them at their worst.
You want them crippled with a fucking leg cramp.
He said, you wanted the best Randy Orton.
You gave me permission, you cocky, son of a bitch, to be the most dangerous Randy
Orden, blah, blah, blah.
He had great fire here.
and Randy said in Las Vegas I gave you the best version of me and you beat me
but the voices in my head came back and told me to do whatever I had to do
and now the worst version of Randy Orton is going to be beating you and bringing home number 15
or not beating you but bringing home number 15 and he said from anybody but not you
Cody because I'm going to make sure that you're never champion again.
So now Orton's come in and he's going to be the fucking
Viper again and he's going to fucking win the belt.
And more importantly, he's going to make sure that Cody never does ever,
ever, ever again.
But then Cody fired up and you know this again, this would
this would be perfect if they were playing into this,
but he's meaning it
as he wants to show the people he's going to have more edge.
It's kind of like when Lawler and Memphis
who business was down,
he would say the old king's coming back Monday night,
meaning I'm going to fucking act like a heel again
and do dirty shit to all these assholes
that I'm fighting instead of letting them get over on me
because I'm a baby faith.
That was kind of code word.
Cody's saying, I don't have to be the good guy anymore.
I'm not the champion.
I'm not the standard bearer.
I don't have to be the good guy.
Well, you never have to be a good guy to begin with any more than anybody else ever had to be a good guy.
But I think he's trying to insinuate to the people.
He's going to get a little, he's had all he can stands and he can't stands no more.
But it might be past time for that.
But nevertheless,
Cody said, legend killer, you're the last legend in the WWE, so who kills you?
Ooh, dramatic cliffhanger or possibly coat hanger.
Young Brian, your thoughts on this verbal dissertation, this duet between these fine linguists.
I think Randy is the heel, but that doesn't mean they're going to boo him or treat him like the heel.
exactly but Cody I you know again the angrier Cody gets about things the more you see it the more
you're like yeah this is what he needs to be it's just angry all the fucking time
I mean otherwise it was okay I agree with you Randy Orton it was the most impressed I've ever
been with him because he went a little while just talking nonstop and he was into it
yeah and it was that was really good and I'm not a big fan typically of his promos I
find that he kind of has a formula and it doesn't excite me, but I thought he's doing the best
stuff that he's done verbally as he's, well, he's doing less of it. So maybe he has more time
to think, but also as he's come back here this time, he's kind of, he's the elder statesman
now. Uh, but then, uh, the only other thing on the program that I watched, obviously, I explained
the DVR issues and I probably would have watched anything else anyway.
way, but Sammy ran into Kevin Owens, his old friend and bosom buddy.
And Sammy is still, he's in that place where people think he's an annoying, whiny,
you know, whatever, and he's an instigator, but he still believes he's a baby face,
he's the good guy.
He's fantastic as that.
And, well, exactly, he's just a perfect little weasel.
It's kind of, if they gave this to him.
anybody else it wouldn't work he's the only one who could make it work is what i'm saying
but anyway he's mad at all this for screwing him around with the adding gunther and owens and
blah blah blah and then owens came in and he owens told aldous he wants the title match in
in toronto on august 21st what is that a smackdown uh or a what or is that the
what event is that let me uh let me find out august
21st is not on it.
Wait a minute.
That is a
8.15, that would be a
Friday night Smackdown.
Oh, so I guess it would be Smackdown.
So they're giving it away.
In Toronto,
his home country.
Well, yeah, I said they're giving it away.
The gate will only be $5 million.
But it's Canadian money.
So you got that.
But then
Owens and Zane
spent time reconnecting.
And Sammy's thing,
hey, you know, we've been friends and blah, blah, blah,
but your return like 100% screwed me.
And Owens admitted, yeah, I'd kind of mess you up, didn't it?
But you would have taken the deal, too.
And Owens tells Sammy that I'm doing it on my own.
So you don't need to help me or watch my back.
And Sammy told Kevin, well,
don't expect me to stop chasing after the title.
So there was nothing explosive here either.
But I guess they've got time.
But yeah, just a lot of people talking to a lot of people.
Well, that was Smackdown, at least the talking segments,
which were the segments with the actual stars in them.
Jim, any thoughts at all on Raw?
Well, yes, they were at the Norfolk scope.
I'm glad to see the scope is still around.
That venerable old building.
It's the Scope Coliseum, though.
I think Michael Cole or whoever referred to it as the Scope Arena,
the historic Scope Arena.
But I'm going to tell you what,
it's amazing what they can get by was giving you now.
and I'm going to talk in more detail about one particular issue that opened and closed the show.
But apart from that, we got to Laredo Kid versus Penta.
We got Austin Theory versus Tazawa.
They seriously booked that.
And then a face off with Oba and Braun that emerged out of that match where the
agents and everybody came out to
get in between them and
the fans were fucking hot
and then they left.
Stephanie Backer
did an in-ring interview talking
like a female Andrade
and somehow
Becky came out and
that's not fair. I don't know
what is happening. She's good.
She's good.
And what does she certainly not
teaching English at Southern New Hampshire
university.
No, but who is?
And, well, anybody else
on this program? Because all they do is talk.
How could you not know how to
talk on a program where all everybody does
is talk? She talks just fine. She has an accent.
She's from Chile. Yes.
Yes. Well,
Chile today, hot to Bali in the wrestling
business is what we always say.
Becky came out
and they talked and then Stephanie left,
but Liv, jumped Becky, and Stephanie
came back and argued with fucking
Becky.
And then
Dominic, for whatever
fucking reason,
apparently I didn't see, I didn't
see the finish of Dominic wrestled
Dragon Lee, so I didn't
watch any of it, but did he do a job?
They're saying on the internet, did he put
Dragon Lee over, or did I misread this?
Oh, I guess, you know what, I actually,
knowing that you were definitely not going to watch
it, did not watch that match.
Because they're saying that Dominic
has heat with the upper echelon.
Dragon Lee pin Dominic Mysterio, non-title match.
Because Dominic's the Triple-A
mega-champion.
The Mega-Megger Godzilla champion
got beat by Dragon Lee?
Well, Dominic is the mega champion
in AAA got beat by Dragon Lee non-title,
but then Dragon Lee was attacked by Big Cass.
Oh, good Lord. And then Javon Evans
tried to make a save, but
no luck. He got laid out to.
Boy, if they have
sacrificing
Giovon Evans on the altar of big
Cass, somebody up there is on
fucking LSD.
That's not as bad as sacrificing
Trick Williams on the altar of Baron Corbin.
You got me there.
Right, it's interesting. They brought all these guys up from
NXT and they're getting over and they're
really good and all of a sudden
a few of them are
put in feuds or doing
things with guys from years ago.
I don't know. You just don't want it
to hold anyone back.
Well, I wish they'd have held Rochelle and Roxanne back from having a tag match with Saul, Ruka, and E.O. Sky.
But they didn't.
And now they've got Paul still giving Bronbreaker advice, because Bronn is asking Paul, say, do you think Oba's the future of WWE?
And Paul says, well, I've got love for you, Bron, and I respect Oba.
and oba's done all he said he'd do
and so brawn said well again is oba the future or not
and paul thinks that brawn is starting to think
that oba is the future and that's the problem
so he says show show me that oba is not worthy
of my respect oh little one
so i don't want to see brawn versus oba this soon
because it will, it might not be right.
But nevertheless, all that was a mere bag of shells, Brian, next to the big news.
They have opened the show and closed the show with Solo and the Uso's,
where they had a challenge between Solo and Jay that emitted from the first sentence.
And now, hoist keys is heard now and out indefinitely?
Is this a shoot?
Oh, I did not hear that.
I don't know.
How could you not hear that?
I didn't, I didn't watch the,
they said it.
I didn't watch the opening here.
I just watched the main event match on mute.
Aha.
Well, why don't you Googlefy,
poor old hoist to see what they've done to him now?
The Mets have been playing really good
since they traded all the stars.
It's been a lot of fun to watch the team league.
The opening promo was solo in the stands
and he was doing it.
a Jay Uso kind of impression
singing his music
and they've done
something to hoist,
you know, whatever.
And he called out the
bloodline. And they're the
Uso that Yeating music plays
and Jay came out with lots
of yeating.
But meanwhile, solo's just been a stand-up
comic. And the
Uso's are with Roman who's a real
dick, but everybody's cheering
everybody. So,
Jay and Solo talked to each other for solos in the stands,
Jay's in the ring, they're 100 feet apart,
having a conversation with each other.
So naturally the tension is you could cut it with a knife
from the hex-clad barbecue collection.
And then Jay is telling Solo that, hey,
when the tribal chief calls the play,
you ought to fall in line.
How can he be the baby face?
Why?
They've turned to heel and just know,
nobody gave a shit.
And then solo called bullshit on that, said, did you fall in line or fall off?
It was about that point, I fell asleep.
And the people started, instead of wudding in the interview they were yeating,
they'd eat a guy, whatever he'd come to the end of a fucking,
or possibly as the writer was given the advice on, you know,
don't speak at unnatural.
it pauses like that have so whatever because every time they'd pause instead of what
the yeat but they set up the goddamn main event where it would be joso against solo and if j wins
then he is delivering solo to roman to put him back in the bloodline are they just going to put
everybody back in the goddamn thing by the way
Royce keys, it's a angle.
It's not a legitimate injury.
He's out indefinitely with a
bruise larynx and a cervical strain,
but he's not actually injured, apparently.
It's just an angle.
So it's indefinitely, but not indubitably.
All right, so they have the match
where Jay and Solo and Jay's going to deliver Solo to
Roman, and if he's not there in 30 minutes, he gets him free.
Did you catch that part of the stipulation?
I did not hear that part, no.
Yeah.
So Jay came out through the fans with the music and the yeating,
but at least they went to break or whatever.
So at least they're not doing the whole goddamn thing,
but he's still up in the breezeway with the fans to start of the man of the people.
And they had the match, and it is what you can imagine.
It's a match between the Uso's because he's their brother too.
so all of the bad habits are kind of magnified.
But finally, Jimmy came out and distracted Solo and Jay hit Solo with a spear and got a two count.
And then they went back and for just for a second and then Jimmy distracted again and Solo spiked him and Jay speared him and then splashed him one, two, three.
I'm wondering if the first one was supposed to be it,
but somebody forgot to do something,
and Jay just went ahead and spared him or whatever.
I don't know, but anyway, one, two, three.
And that was it.
So the Uso's had won Solo back.
And now he's going to be in the bloodline with Jacob,
who was trying to kill Roman.
And Solo had a evil group of face-painted panda bears
that we're going to fucking get all these motherfuggers.
How can any of them sleep at night?
With the call is coming from inside the house,
everybody in the group wants to kill each other.
Are they going to make him the limousine chauffeur?
And they all go to sleep in the back
and they're trusting solo with their fucking lives?
Why do they want him in the group?
What is happening, Brian?
I don't know.
Can't explain it.
Solo was in the back as a baby face doing a promo earlier with LA Knight.
And I, for the first time, started thinking, man, he's actually kind of fun as a baby face.
And now we'll see what happens.
It was a weird stipulation.
But he will be delivered, hand delivered.
Like a gift to Roman Raines next week.
Well, I'll tell you what, he's certainly not going to be packed by the feather bottoms
in their ultra-careful handling system, so he won't be fucked anymore.
Jim in advance real quick, on the record,
how long do you think it'll take Roman Raines
to get from the back to the ring next Monday?
Think about it for a second, a legitimate number.
Now, he's not announced for a match.
He's just, this is his return, right?
He returns next Monday.
Yeah, just to get solo.
He's not going to work.
Come on now.
Yeah, I'm going to say,
six minutes, 30 seconds.
All right, let's see if he beats it six minutes and 30 seconds.
We're talking from the time the music hits
to when he starts talking, right? Would that be...
Yes, okay.
Yes, that is correct.
Let's see what happens, but that was WWE Raw.
Boy, was it exciting.
Jim, want to ask you about something that
has been a big topic of conversation in the last several days.
I'm not sure how up on it you are.
AJ Stiles has a son who has just begun his wrestling career.
I believe he's a couple of matches in.
Avery, I believe.
Is that not the case?
I believe so.
I've got a few things here that people have sent over about this.
I'm trying to find it here.
But Avery Stiles, just starting his career, of course, has his father's name,
and everyone knows that it's A.J.'s son, and A.J.
certainly has a reputation for everything he's done in the ring.
it's a good way to start your career, I guess.
I don't know what the hell I'm saying.
But there was an incident that didn't happen.
There was an incident that didn't happen.
Give us all the facts, ma'am, just the facts.
Apparently, he was flown in to wrestle for GCW, Game Changer Wrestling.
Oh, good Lord.
And after it, a wrestler named Eric Cannon, who I presume work,
for GCW, he tweeted out,
as someone who watched this kid scurred away from helping with a single thing at this
very show, I'd just like to say, L-O-O-Fing L.
And I guess that is in response to, again, there's a whole lot of tweets here.
That is in response to Natty Nyhart.
Oh, excuse me.
Natty Knightheart did an interview where she said that Avery Stiles wants to
to pay his dues and she was at the show and he's a young kid who wants to pay his dues and
that triggered the he didn't pay his dues comment.
So after that, AJ Stiles jumped in and said he was paid to wrestle at GCW, not help you
put up and take down the ring.
That sounds like your job.
You just sound like a jealous douche to which Ara-can
I have all the respect in the world for you, AJ.
I understand why you'd defend your son, and it's admirable.
But the fact remains, he can stay AJ's kid,
continue to skirt responsibility and paying dues.
Skirt responsibility.
Or he could earn the respect of his peers and stand on his own as Avery.
So let's stop here.
There's a whole lot more.
Jim, what are the responsibilities of a wrestler when it comes to putting up or taking down the ring?
If a wrestler is flown in, despite being a rookie or not, do you think they're responsible for doing this?
And for the wrestlers that are stuck doing it, is it justifiable for them to be resentful of wrestlers that don't do it?
What are your thoughts on all this?
All of these things can be the case in the proper context.
And also this Eric Cannon fellow, I've blocked him.
him on Twitter.
I found out what I saw
this exchange,
part of it,
I had to click on it
because I blocked him.
Apparently he's,
well,
he works for garbage
championship wrestling,
so he's probably one of those.
But until
modern times,
unless the wrestler was
also the guy that
hauled the ring for the promotion,
for example,
in the Memphis territory,
Buddy Wayne,
would haul the ring.
because it was his ring, he'd hauled spot shows,
and he'd work in the opening match.
That way he got paid twice,
and the office saved having to book somebody on the fucking card,
that type of thing.
Otherwise, by the time the boys ever got to the show,
and this was small territories and large territories,
the ring was already up, right?
The paying of the dues was that you made the towns,
you were on the road, you had that schedule,
you got the shit kicked out of you in the opening matches.
That was paying your dues.
And then in the modern era as wrestling schools have become more prominent and more numerous,
etc.
And we did the same thing in OVW.
The guys in the particular wrestling school or that particular local promotion,
the regular guys along with the probably were friends with the promoter or the regular
students of a school that were attending classes there also and that's why they were working
on the live shows.
Since there was no more territory days where you were in the car fucking six hours each way
to a fucking town, guys started getting there earlier to help set up and tear down the rings
because they were also, these operations were probably lower budget or independent or just
you know, small shows or whatever.
And we found that that was a good way to instill some kind of responsibility in the guys in
OVW.
Sina at one point drove the ring truck.
So did Brock, I believe, at one point.
There were a few guys that got heat with the group because they felt they were too good
or they were out in the car talking on their cell phone when they ought to be
carrying a ring post. Of course, remember we had heels set up and baby faces tear down or vice versa.
We didn't let the talent mingle in front of the fans. But that was because this was the regular
crew. They were working live events three and four nights a week. They were together in class
on a daily or regular basis. And it was their thing. And I can understand that applying to the
local independent promotions that guys work for regularly and that everybody chips in and
you got the same sound guy ring announcer or whatever the case everybody's chipping in but
there's also to me a different way to go about this when it styles his son is in an unusual position
where he's by he's being flung and
in by a promotion to wrestle when he's only had a few matches in front of people
because of who his father is yes and when we assume from what we've heard he's got a
lot of potential also but if you if you call a guy and I assume that AJ
Stiles and say Avery didn't call the garbage wrestling guy said hey can I wrestle in
goddamn you know the sikakis or wherever you
the fuck you're at.
Can I wrestle for you?
I assume they called him and they booked him.
When you call a guy and you book him and you fly him up to wrestle in a place he's
never been for a company he's never worked for a guy and a crew that he may have never met,
I don't see any reason why he's got to pitch you and help set to fucking ring up.
These guys have come from fucking Passaic.
He's come from God damn Georgia.
And besides that, he doesn't have any,
it's not paying your dues to go and set somebody else's ring up
when they've called you and booked you.
Unless they said at the beginning,
we want to book you to wrestle and also help set the ring up.
And the reason why I say it could be handled differently
is because I'm sure,
how did this unfold live when he got there
and he's looking to place over.
Did they tell him, hey, come on, we got to set the ring up.
And he looked at him like they had flaming turds hanging out of their mouths.
Because why wouldn't he?
What the fuck?
What do you want me to do about it?
Maybe he didn't know how to set their ring up.
Many of them are different.
Who the fuck knows?
But the point is, it's not for the boys on the card to determine whether or not the guy had
to write attitude because he wouldn't help them.
carry the ring posts.
If the promoter
said, hey, I expect you
to goddamn go do
this, then if
I was Avery, I would have said, why didn't you
tell me this before? And I'd ask for
another $100.
Or something of that fashion.
But that's the point. And so
then they get on Twitter and say the guys
being snotty because
he wouldn't help us
set our show up that our promoter
called him and flew him all away from
Georgia to be on to begin with,
would Avery Stiles have known that that event was going to take place
or had taken place after the fact if they hadn't called him?
So what sweat equity does he need to put in this fucking thing?
Well, we have some more here, Jim.
After Eric Cannon's tweet saying that
Avery can earn the respect of his peers and stand on his own as Avery,
or he could just be AJ's kid.
AJ Stiles responded,
You don't ask someone to have dinner at your house
and have them do the dishes.
He was asked to wrestle at GCW.
Although grateful for the opportunity,
a vet would have talked to him professionally
or at least face to face.
To which Eric Cannon,
who put this all out there,
I mean, he's really the one that has caused everyone to see this story.
he tweeted out in response
A 20 plus year vet
and promoter
Ask him to help with the chairs
Twice
Instead of helping
He hid in the locker room
Until everything was done
My Two cents isn't going to affect his future
But with all due respect
You stating that he doesn't need to help
Is only doing him a disservice
Oh, good Lord.
A 20-year vet and promoter asked him to help with the chair.
Who would have been on one of these outlaw shows like that?
That seems like that would narrow it down,
although some of these people you've never heard of say they've been in the business 20 years.
But how did he ask him?
I need more information.
Did he go over and go, hey, come on, you know, help us set these chairs up?
And the kids like, what the fuck, why is this my goddamn affair?
he's not a local trainee you got to keep going back yeah he's not a local trainee he's not he's not
obligated and he don't have skin in the game here now he could have said okay i'll be you know
i'll be a good sport and help you set out some chairs i guess but it there's no there's no
mandatory reason nor reason for why this should be a goddamn thing in my opinion unless he was
going all around the building
saying, look at you fucking dumb shit
gabrony, setting up the chairs. Well, I'm not.
Otherwise,
well, of course, other people have chimed in
and let's get your thoughts on some of these.
Lexus King,
that's Brian Pilman Jr., tweeted out.
He tweeted out a lot.
As someone who has walked in this kid's
very shoes, being the son of a legendary
high flyer, and taking to the Indies for
the first time, all I could say is that it's a different path than most. I was five matches in,
and promoters would fly me in. Tell me to hang out at the hotel until call time, and when I'd get
there, the ring would already be set up. To put it plainly, people treat you differently when you
are one of us, and it's not his fault. There's a different type of baggage this boy carries,
an expectation to live up to his father's greatness
that most will never understand.
I hadn't set up or tore down a single ring
until I got to NXT.
But yet I'm so glad I started
because it taught me a lot about the work
that goes into making the magic
that is pro wrestling.
I was treated like royalty
by everyone in the business
until I walked into NXT
and the leadership here humbled me
and treated me like everyone else.
It's up to the leadership on the Indies to show him the way.
As I was with him until he was with him until he was the leadership on the Indies,
a.k.a. the invisible man.
He's putting his body on the line and drawing extra eyes for your show at a young age,
and you want to blast him on the internet instead of talking to him in person?
Well, guess what, Eric?
Your tweet didn't sell any more tickets for the next show,
but I bet Avery Stiles being on the card will.
Hey, instead of Derek, now it's A, Eric!
Because it's his birthright.
And that's in caps with five crowns.
Well, again, with this Eric Cannon fellow,
as I said, I blocked him on Twitter,
so he's probably a smart ass,
and he's probably a frustrated nobody that's never gone anywhere.
And he's the self-appointed arbiter of morality and fucking behavior
in their particular outlaw mud show locker room.
So he thought he'd just speak up on everybody's behalf.
Unless it's like a crazy Teddy heart kind of situation and just using him as an example,
I mean, is it fair that he did this to a 19-year-old kid two matches into his career
who's trying to make a name for himself and this is the first thing people are going to hear about him?
the people that pay attention to this,
this guy putting out there that he's some kind of ingrate for being flown in,
he didn't even put away any of the chairs or put up the ring or anything.
I never saw that.
You know, when I was around Dennis Caruso shows, again, that's a different world,
that's a different set of indies.
I don't remember the local guys putting up or taking down the ring.
Well, no, that's why I say it would never happen unless it was the guy that owned the ring
that was also wrestling on the card.
this is another one of those modern things like the handshake and the whole nine yards.
The handshake being not just mandatory, but, you know, the fucking cause of a ass whipping if you don't do it or whatever.
All this stuff has been magnified by Marx getting into the business and thinking that casual kind of semi-traditions were fucking stone-cold law.
Well, that's Brian Pillman Jr.
A.J. Francis, flopped up.
Oh, good Lord.
He tweeted out,
let me be clear.
When I was in NXT,
I set up and broke down the ring on every
coconut show I ever did.
Whatever the coconut shots.
That must have been, well, they're in Florida.
That must have been the NXT phrase for the buttermilk run,
all the shitty towns.
I ain't never once touch no ring on the Indies
And none of these bitch-ass wrestlers
Would ever say anything to me about it
All right, thank you, top dollar
Moose has checked in
Moose, I believe it's in TNA
He responded to Eric Cannon
Bro, relax, it's an indie show
The whole pay your dues in an indie show is dumb
Different story
If it was a TV company
we're talking about a freaking indie show.
A 20-year indie vet giving advice to the kid of one of the greatest to do it in a professional level is kind of laughable.
And then Eric Cannon responded to Moose, coming from someone who is in the business, this is a painfully dumb take.
And then Moose is.
Oh, well, I don't know how Moose is going to recover from that.
I'd hide my head in shame.
I never, Moose responded, I never set up a ring or chairs and I'm doing pre-examble.
and I'm doing pretty good in my pro wrestling career,
so must not be that dumb of a take.
I feel like you're jealous or attention-seeking.
If you were genuine, you would have went to AJ or son personally
and shared your feelings rather than bitch on X.
Bingo.
And finally, Jim, Sam Adonis chimed in.
Corey Graves' brother, by the way.
But a wrestling star independently of that, he's been a star in Mexico.
Yeah, well, I didn't, I didn't mean that he wasn't his own human being.
I just meant that a lot of people don't know they're related.
They're because of the different last name because their mother remarried to Adrian Adonis.
I don't fucking know.
Go ahead.
What Sam Adidas tweeted out, everyone crying about Avery paying dues is gaslighting themselves.
97% of wrestlers setting up is either trying to get or keep a spot.
talent flown in as an attraction are 1,000% exempt.
If he decided to help, it would very much help his perception, but that's his decision.
And there you go.
There you have it.
That sucks, too, the idea that it is, you know, he kind of said it out.
It's a perception thing, just to be seen doing it.
So people see you doing it, whether you want to or not.
I don't know.
It seems like this Eric Cannon made an issue out of nothing.
And it seems a little unfair because this kid's just starting his career.
Yes, he did make a big issue out of nothing.
And also, if you'd have again said this to any of the talent,
even the undercard guys in the territory days or even in the big companies in the 90s
or most of the small companies in the 90s,
They would have said, fuck you, I'd say it.
They would have considered it like they were going to work for an executive position.
And on the way in, you handed them a plunger and told them to unstop the toilet.
That's the, that's the ring crew.
That's like the fucking guys that set up the tilter whirl at the county fair.
What, you know, there was no, there was no need to pay dues by performing extra labor on a ring crew for a promoter,
nor would anybody have probably gone along with it.
But they were also working seven nights a week
and driving 100, 200, 300 miles each way each day
to the shows to do it.
Plenty of dues got paid.
I mean, I guess that's the funny thing to me.
It's the whole idea that two matches into his career or whatever it is.
They're bringing him in.
He's from out of town.
Yeah.
Here's what we want to pay you.
Also, we expect you to take down the ring
and put up the chairs.
Also set up the concessionary and sell some hot dogs.
We also want you to sell some tickets and print up the programs.
I mean, what the fuck?
Pat Malone has a stack of wrestling news magazines.
You'll get in free if you sell 10 of them.
We'll give you half a cent for every 10 you sell, yes.
We'll stay on top of this indie news,
and boy, it sounds like the Indies are really flourishing
and a great environment to grow as a wrestler in.
but Jim
one of the things
you have to learn on the Indies
it's not what you make
because you're not going to make anything
no it's not what you make it's what you save
it's what you save
that used to be the Nick Goulis
advice all the time boy it's not what you make
it's what you save
but Mr. Nick I only make
$20 last week
well what if you could put that $20
in a slim wallet
with all of your cards your identification
your credit cards,
maybe some pictures,
whatever it may be,
but be on the go
in a slim, compact way
without the big,
big old school,
out of fashion,
Passet wallet.
Leather wallet,
it'll throw your sacroiliac
out of balance.
Of course,
if you're a professional wrestler
or an aspiring professional wrestler
out there on the indie circuit,
folks, you've already got a thin wallet.
But what you want is a durable
wallet,
a wallet.
it'll last forever. That's why our friends
in Ridge are right up your
Baileywick, right in your flywheel,
because Ridge,
they make the amazing wallets
that last forever. Of course,
it's, I'll be honest with me, it's hard
to get a condom into
these because they're so protective of the
cards and the cash and everything. It's hard to
but if you can get it hard enough to get
that rubber in there, boy,
then I'll tell you what.
It'll be fine, but they make luggage, they
make all kinds of stuff, but
Brian, this is the news of the week.
You can go now and buy one of the amazing power banks that powers anything or the wallet
that is impossible for you to lose or be destroyed or the luggage or all that.
And you can also enter officially for their sweepstakes.
It runs from, well, it's on right now through September the 8th.
And two lucky winners will be chosen.
And Brian, you know what they're going to be able to choose.
these two people
will be able to choose between
a Lamborghini
Hurricane Storado
automobile, only 1,500
of them exist in the world
you get a chance to own one of them,
or a Ford Hennessy Velociraptor.
Yes, these prehistoric creatures
have been brought back to life by DNA
and put up in this sweepstakes.
Of course, it's also
got a 558 horsepower twin turbo engine.
And you got a chance to win a souped-up Ford Bronco
that's coated in scratch-resistant Kevlar armor.
So basically, if you'd like a bulletproof tank,
then maybe you're a member of the Russo family.
And the best part, you also get a chance to choose $100,000 in cash.
Because if I've got that chance to get a chance to get
my cold hard cash.
Well, fuck all these sports cars, but you know
how some people are.
But nevertheless, if
you buy something,
you know, you can enter for free.
You can enter completely free
at Ridge.com to win
one of these four prizes.
Or, if you
buy stuff, you get
extra entries.
Stack the deck.
Stuff the ballot box.
If you buy power
bar bar that's right if you buy if you buy a power bank a wallet luggage or anything else you will earn
extra entries luggage and then you could be carrying this wallet around in a Lamborghini or you could
now velociraptor honestly it's got the 558 horsepower twin turbo this is a helicopter right
we have to have a landing pad i don't believe it's a helicopter i don't think you uh i've never heard of a
I thought a velociraptor was a helicopter.
I wasn't too familiar with velociraptors until the read on the experience the other day.
I never heard of it.
Well, you know, the velocirapt, look up Velociraptor.
To me, it's one of the Tyrannosaurus rex fucking categories, isn't it?
But nevertheless.
You mean dinosaurs?
The Tyrannosaurus category.
Yes, the velociraptor.

That's Jim's favorite of the tunes.
You know, we were just talking about big amounts of money and big fancy cars and vehicles and everything.
It didn't used to be this way, Brian.
Back in my day, when I was a child, you didn't have to have a fortune.
You didn't have to be a multimillionaire to just lead a normal life.
Prices were under control.
You know what I have in front of me right now that I clicked on while you were playing with your organ?
Would you like to hear the McDonald's menu with prices in 1973 when I was a 12-year-old young man and just embarking on a lifetime of eating fast food?
Okay.
This is the entire McDonald's menu for 1973.
A quarter-pounder, 60 cents.
A quarter-pounder with cheese.
A big back, 65 cents.
Filet of fish, 48 cents.
Cheeseburger, 33 cents.
Hamburger, 28 cents.
Large order of fries, 46 cents.
Regular fries, 26 cents.
Hot apple pie, 26 cents.
Coffee, 15 cents.
Milk 20 cents.
Hot chocolate, 15 cents.
Chocolate.
strawberry vanilla or coffee milkshake, 35 cents.
Cokes, root beers, and orange aids were 15 and 20 cents apiece.
And a triple ripple ice cream cone.
A triple ripple, the cone on 20 cents.
You could get everything on the McDonald's menu for $5.42.
Now, that's the kind of fast food I was brought.
up on. Well, unfortunately, prices never go down. They only go up. But they do. How much would it
cost you to get a goddamn, but when we were talking about the TVs, 40 years ago, how much would it
cost you to get a 65-inch television? Oh, thousands of dollars. Tens of thousands of dollars,
probably. It would have to be custom made possibly. Yes. Now they don't last but six weeks, but you can get
them for $400 bucks.
Not all prices have to go up.
All right. I guess just our food.
Once again, cook that food with hex clad.
Make a nice ending of this.
Jim,
speaking of old news,
of course, whenever Dave Meltzer and Brian Alvarez have a spat,
it now gets sent to us by seemingly hundreds of
fucking people.
Do they, are they at the point where they need counseling?
Should somebody step in?
I think it's become pretty clear from these segments we've reviewed
and from the footage you see of them.
Alvarez tries to look at things logically, even if he doesn't enjoy,
or if he enjoys things that we don't enjoy for different reasons.
He is much more accepting of the silly shit, but he also looks for logic.
and that's historically what he did.
He wrote the death of WCW,
which just made fun of WCW
by pointing out how nothing made any sense
and they suffered for it.
Dave,
at times it's he's arguing a point
that he's convinced himself of,
but other times it's a jump to Tony Con defense
even when you're dealing with someone
who's not attacking Tony Con or AEW.
He's just got to figure out a way to absolve
Tony of any responsibility and something that it would not be favorable.
Again, Brian Alvers has been a big supporter of AEW since the beginning.
The idea that he points out logic holes and then immediately Dave jumps on him,
that may be an issue.
We have some audio to play, but then...
And I want to say one thing.
I've heard people say, they're just doing this for clicks.
They're doing it to make people listen as controversy equals cash or whatever.
But if that's the case, how did they talk down?
to take him the part of the dumb fuck, right?
Which, when you've got to argue something and somebody's obviously right and somebody's
obviously fucking wrong and people can tell, but how do you, how do you pick which one?
Wouldn't Dave, because he's the senior guy in more ways than one, he's a senior citizen,
wouldn't he have said to Alvarez, hey, you be the young goof that doesn't know anything.
Let me be the smart guy.
but they switched roles.
Well, again, even if it was something premeditated done for this, and I'm not convinced
it is, I'm certainly clear, you know, and there's nothing wrong with it, that they are
taking advantage of this content, exploiting it the way anyone who makes content like this
shouldn't benefiting from it.
But it doesn't change the fact that it's happening on these shows that they record
late at night after, like a dynamite.
They don't record the next day, they record that night late at night.
Good Lord.
But let's go to this audio.
All right.
Because there's more.
There's a written version of this feud as well here.
But this is referring to the Mark Davis, Will Osprey, I think it was a Mexico City street fight on grants.
Yes, remember we laughed at it because, you know, not only is it not what the people in poor arena, Mexico normally get, but that it had to be a street fight just because they were in Mexico City.
Well, one of the stipulations was also that no one could interfere.
Yes. It was a polite street fight.
Amongst gentlemen.
Well, let's go to a gentlemanly discussion between Dave Belzer and Brian Alvarez.
Let's review this.
Their comments about this Grand Slam Mexico street fight.
Will Osprey and Mark Davis.
This went, this was went very long, bloody as hell.
How do you have a street fight where no one's allowed at ringside?
It's ridiculous.
What do you mean?
It's a street fight.
What's going to have?
happen, a DQ? Which, by the way, brings me the other question. They did a spot at the end of this
match. It was just a step. They did a spot where it's a street fight. Yeah, but it's a fight in the
street. You can do anything. Anything goes. Except other people being there. Well, good. They didn't
want outside interference. That's a good thing. That's a good thing. So anyway, they also had a spot
near the end. Let me get to this spot. You can have street fights without outside interference. People
did it for decades and decades.
Davis.
Just because WWE doesn't do it
and they didn't advertise it ahead
of time. Let's stop it there because we've got
the just because WWE doesn't
do it argument where.
Oh boy. Yeah, well just because they don't do
it. He's overlooking the
fact that nobody ever advertised a
stipulation that no one was allowed
to interfere because that then
told the fans that the promotion
had the power to keep people
from interfering. Henceforth,
anytime anybody interfered to
future, they didn't get to heat for it, the promotion did, for allowing it.
Which is the same stupid thing that Tony has done. He's made some matches. In these matches,
interference is not allowed. Well, if you can stop it in those, why can't you stop it in the
other ones? Well, we're going to get Dave's explanation for that, actually, and it's the first time.
He says that it's been out there. It's the first time I've heard it. But we'll get there. Let's
go back to this. Parents, people did it for decades and decades. Dave is, uh, just because
Because WWE doesn't do it and W.
W.W.E. Street fights mean to fill with a million people in fear.
It's an anything goes match. It's ridiculous to have an anything goes match.
The word anything goes
means anything goes. You're having an
anything goes match, except this. That'll be an EQ.
They didn't say that. They were banned from ringside. There's a difference.
So what happens if they come in?
They didn't come in.
No, Dave, what happens if they come in during the street fight?
A disqualification?
No, what happens is what Tony Conce.
What will be the fucking punishment?
Well, here it is.
This is what I said before. I'd never heard before. Let's go to this.
Then during the street fight, a disqualification? No. What happens is what Tony Kahn says for the
Continental when they do the same exact thing. No one's allowed at ringside. And he has said
that when if someone comes out to do that, they are fired. So that's what that's what happens.
Well, the kind of old classic is supposed to be like a wrestling tournament. This is a street fight.
Anyway, it doesn't matter. Answer this question. If somebody came out, if somebody came out,
he'd violate the steps. Answer me this question. You want him violating steps?
Okay. Can you answer this next question?
Especially something as silly as this?
Well, there it is as silly as it is.
As silly as this.
So let me get this straight then.
The street fight matches can have stipulations where nobody interferes,
but the regular matches where there can be disqualifications,
and they're supposed to adhere to the rules.
They have run in all the time.
It doesn't make any sense.
And again,
if he says if they run in, they're fired good.
Then if anybody runs in on any matches from now on, they're fired.
But you can't just say only the ones we say that.
Because if a wrestler would care about being fired if they ran into the one,
wouldn't they always care about being fired if they ran in?
It would prevent it altogether if that was the stipulation.
Yes, and boy, and then you'd never be able to do a run-in ever again.
And that's why nobody ever brought up the same.
subject of banning.
The run-in is banned to begin with because if somebody does run in, they will be disqualified
or the person they're trying to help will be disqualified if the referee sees it.
That was the penalty.
They would lose the match if the referee catches them getting outside help.
That's why it's ill.
It's already illegal and there's already a rule for it.
But you could always use the referee was distracted and the heel took advantage of it.
but by doing this if nobody can interfere
because nobody can be at ringside or nobody can come down
but only on the matches we say that's the case
then it's the promotion's fault here and after
ever after instead of the heels fault whenever somebody runs in
and screws a baby face so dip shits
and I'm with Alvarez you can't have no interference in a street fight
or in a no DQ, anything goes match or anything of the ilk.
It doesn't work.
After that audio, Jim, it continued on Twitter.
Oh, boy.
The official wrestling observer Twitter account tweeted out the audio I just played here,
and they had the quote from Brian Alvarez,
how do you have a street fight when no one's allowed at ringside?
It's ridiculous.
What's going to happen?
A DQ?
to which Dave Meltzer quote tweeted, his own website.
His own website?
Arguing in favor of outside interference in a match where the stip is nobody is allowed to interfere is something.
Which I don't think that was really the argument, though, was it?
No.
He's not saying I'm in favor of outside interference.
No, he didn't say we want the outside interference to happen.
He said it's stupid that they have said in a street fight.
that they have been able to ban that aspect of the street fighting.
Well, Brian Alvarez quote tweeted that and wrote,
It's a no-rules match with rules.
To which Dave Meltzer responded,
you're arguing in favor of outside interference
in a match where the advertised stip
was nobody allowed at ringside and no interference.
To which Alvarez wrote a lot here,
hold on.
No, I am arguing that the idea of a street fight with nobody can interfere rules
is inherently ridiculous because of the concept of what a street fight is.
If you get angry at someone at the sushi place,
maybe that's where Dave goes,
if you get angry at someone at the sushi place and say,
let's take this outside, the idea that you can also add
but none of your friends can get involved is preposterous.
It's one thing to say that there will be no outside interference in the Continental Classic,
which is a wrestling tournament,
where the idea is to respect the sanctity of the sport of professional wrestling.
This is not that.
This was a no-rule street fight.
And that's where it ends.
Yeah.
It's going to end.
sooner or later.
I just want,
who's going to get custody of the pets?
To the bigger issue,
Dave's inability,
again, this is minor criticism.
Just, hey, this doesn't make any sense.
Dave can't say you're right.
Instead, it's a rush to defend
to say
WWE, WWE.
But what do you think of Dave's defense here?
Well, again, it's gibberish
because you're right. He could have just
said, yeah, that, you know,
Tony has a tendency to over-stipulate things.
It's not insulting Tony's family.
Does he think Tony is that thin skin
that if he doesn't take up for him
at every conceivable turn
that Tony will excommunicate him from,
you know, getting to talk to the billionaire boychild
about the rassland that they both love
and push down everybody's fucking throat
because they love it?
I mean, I don't know
what else he couldn't, just for appearances sake, because he claims to be a journalist,
but he can't even bring himself to utter the mildest criticism of Tony or the things that Tony does,
does he not want to hurt his feelings because Tony would be sensitive,
or does he think he's going to get cut off?
Or is he think he's like, you know, Schindler and, you know, we can't say anything bad.
we'll all get fired.
I don't understand why he can't just stand up for a couple of things
so he doesn't look so obvious in what he's doing.
Well, Jim, let's move on here with the show.
Let's go now to finish our list of the top 20 wrestlers in their 20s in 1994.
We have a bunch of interesting decisions to make pretty soon about this question mark list.
Oh, boy.
Yeah, let me grab my picture.
paperwork here because I'll tell you what, we established there were so many
Hall of Fame names and legends and guys already on top in the 84 list of guys in
their 20s. And in the 94 list of guys in their 20s, there's certainly some Hall of
Famers, but there was more guys being used on a regular basis, but they were only guys on
the card. They weren't difference makers. Many of them weren't
in a company that was drawing any money,
because most of those companies had gone away.
And now we're like,
can we put together like 20 really Bafo names
off of the 20s in 94?
Well, the names we both agreed should be on the list.
So far, Owen Hart, Sean Michaels,
Undertaker, Yokozuna,
Dustin Rhodes, Lord Stephen Regal,
and Cactus Jack
and I think we could say
it'd be pretty hard to argue against any of them
but it's the rest of them
that we'll have to talk about but we have some more names.
We've gone through a lot of names
to get there but go ahead.
Jim turning
29 in February
Black Magic
aka Norman Smiley.
I never got him.
I never got it.
I saw the WCW stuff
with the wiggle and
The whole thing, he, to me, facially, always looked like he was in his 50s.
I've heard he's a heck of a shooter.
People have even used him as a trainer.
I do as I teach and not as I did.
I don't know.
Don't have any idea what he was doing in 94 or why.
He was wrestling in Mexico, maybe a little bit in Japan, very talented.
But I will not fight you on this, not on the list for 84, for 94.
Jim turning 24 in January
Big Titan
the future fake Razor Ramon
Oh good Lord
What was his name?
Rick Bogner
Shit Rick Bogner
Yeah
I mean he was a nice guy
You know
In my dealings with him
But I think he just got that spot
Because he looked kind of like Scott Hall
with his hair slick and
I never saw
anything special in his
appearance, work, personality, whatever.
All right, not on the list. He was teaming up with Mike
Awesome in Japan.
Jim, someone who would start working for you
right around this time,
32 years ago in 1994,
turning 22 in April,
Boo Bradley.
And he was 22 years old and he looked older even then,
But, I mean, Abbott Boo Bradley was not a difference maker in the company.
He was, I liked him.
He was a heck of a guy.
And he was a good worker.
And he'd get more famous as Balls Mahoney, but also he would do all the damage to himself that helped bring about his early demise.
But you can't, even if you're his best friend, you can't put him on a list of the top 20 guys in the business, especially in 1994.
Well, Jim, speaking of young wrestlers breaking in and working for you,
someone who would start working for you in 1994,
turning 24 in October, DeLo Brown.
Boy, and now there's an example of Deelow was doing the same thing.
He was working underneath in Smoky Mountain,
and he was almost the same age, 24, not 22.
Boo had he could move good for a big guy and he had the gimmick
and with DeLo it was different in that he didn't have
he was a big kid especially then for he lost weight
got in better shape but he didn't have a you know a particularly
distinct look but his work was very good even for the time
for the experience level you could tell he was going to he became a better
in-ring worker just telling you
technically than Boo ever was.
So, but even then, just in 1994, he was the gangsters, you know, flunky.
So we can't really say he was moving anything at that time.
But as we all know, he would go on to have a long and successful career.
Jim, another guy from the Northeast, turning 28 in July, Tom Brandy.
Salvatore Sincere
Not yet he wouldn't
But that's the only time he'd get on national TV
Bless him
Well he was in WCW was Johnny Gunn
That's right
I forgot about that
But so did everybody else
I think Sal sincere still sticks in people's mind
Because the outlandish outfit
With the peacock feather or whatever
I mean, we can't really put him on a list either
if he wasn't really anywhere where he was moving anything
or doing anything to stand out at this point in time.
But a heck of a worker, nice guy.
Jim, turning 23 in September,
another person who would briefly work for you in 1994
in August, Richard Slinger.
You know, he was,
was Terry Gordy's cousin. And so he worked with for me a couple of times when Terry was on the
card because they drove up together. And again, he did better in Japan because he was just a,
as I recall, just, you know, straight ahead wrestler, wrestler fellow, but not a lot of nonsense to him,
but he didn't have the size that Terry had. And I think he was just one of those guys that was kind of
a victim of the territories going away
and there was no place in the United States
to really get better or work regularly.
So again, you know,
he was doing better in Japan.
He was almost non-existent in the states.
Jim turning 21 in April, Steve Skyfire.
Well, Steve Skyfire
was...
This will be in a Smoky Mountain book, this part,
ladies and gentlemen.
Well, no, what was his fucking name?
his real last name.
I don't know.
I remember Bob Cottle called him Steve Skydiver.
Yeah.
He was an indie guy.
There was, well, there was really no Indies.
There were outlaw shows in East Tennessee and Virginia.
And he worked for me sometimes on the card underneath or in the middle in Spoky
Mountain.
He was an athletic kid.
And I think he got some level of recognition for doing indies at the time.
in those early days of it, but
I don't know whatever became of it.
And then later on, we had an OVW, we had a Seth Skyfire
who was actually a pretty darn good himself,
but different fellow.
All right, not on the list.
Turning 29 in August,
Johnny Smith.
Uh, who was Davey Boy's cousin, correct?
I believe so.
And he was mostly, uh,
working, well, at that point, there wasn't anything going on on any level in Calgary,
but he would basically make trips to Japan also.
All Japan, that's right.
And he was doing fairly well there, not sure how well, but in the United States.
Yeah.
All right, not on your list.
25 in October, June Akiyama.
I defer to your knowledge of June or August, Akiyama.
He has a lot of people who really like him.
I've never been a big fan of his,
so unfortunately I'm the worst person to ask.
I would not put him on the list.
I couldn't possibly pick him out of the police lineup.
I've heard the name.
No, I will say,
I know you have kind of veered away from Japanese wrestlers,
but I would put the next person on my list.
Turning 27 in March,
Kenta Kabashi.
Kenta Kobashi.
Ah, know him well.
He was the top guy for the whole company for I don't know how many years.
He set records that stood for however long.
Later on, he would become famous for having that match in Ring of Honor with Samoa Joe,
but primarily he was the top guy in Japan,
but this was at a time where they were drawing money
and putting people in the building at that point.
So he would, even though he had no United States,
presence, like you said, he would have to go on this list, would he not?
In a time where Japanese wrestling predominantly was still treated seriously, despite things
like Wing or IWA or FMW, whatever, just doing crazy shit with monsters and stuff,
he was having the best matches, he was elevated, he was all Japan's top guy, and he was as good in the
ring as anyone, I think, of that era.
Now, he never came to the States.
Until the Samoa Joe thing, I don't think he ever
wrestled in the States.
So, I could see why that would
make you say, well, he shouldn't
be on the list, but the matches
he had in 94, him
and Stan Hanson, him and Steve Williams,
the tag matches,
I personally would put him on the list.
Well, since the list
is almost empty so far anyway, let's
put him on a fucking list. All right, I'm adding him to
the list now. Jim, next name here, 24 in December. Rob Van Dam. I defer to you again on where
he was in his journey, as the kids say, had he started being used in ECW yet? Is this a
couple of years early? What the fuck was Rob Van Dam doing in 1994, if anything?
Rob Van Dam was wrestling for Eddie Mansfield in 92.
the IWF, that was the first time I saw him on TV in New York.
Then he went to WCW and they gave him the atrocious name of Robbie V.
I remember that.
And it was no, he just seemed like a hapless baby face who did like kicks every now and
that.
It wasn't that cool.
The name killed it too.
And then he wouldn't get to ECW.
I don't think until maybe late 95.
So this is like a period in between where,
I don't remember him doing too much.
Maybe I'm missing something.
I don't remember him doing too much in 94.
I don't think he goes on the list.
I'll agree with you.
Well, Jim, again, to go to Japan,
turning 25 in July,
he would have a breakout performance
in the J-Cup that year,
the great Sasukee or the great Suzuki.
A lot of people call him different things.
The great Suzuki is what we always called him.
And Sasuki,
he don't sucky.
He was the darling
junior heavyweight high flyer
masked fellow of that era
as I recall.
And again,
I don't know is 1994.
So I don't know
besides what you just told me.
So otherwise than that, you make the decision
on this one because
I am woefully out of my flywheel
here.
I would put him on the list for 94.
It's his breakout year.
In the New Japan J-Cup, he's the one, even though he doesn't win it, Chris Benoit does, Wild Pegasus.
He's the one people kind of walk away, at least people I was talking to, talking about.
We had never seen anyone do some of the things he was doing.
And it turned out he was the top star, and you may remember this, because when I was trading tapes, it was kind of like, this is not what I expected.
a company that was called at the time
the Smoky Mountain Wrestling of Japan
Michinoku Pro Wrestling
Yeah, I remember that big
And I didn't know that meant like
It's just it's a regional thing
I thought like oh they do promos
I didn't know what the thing
Yes, because that was Taka Michinoku
and his guys Dick Tago and
Shofunaki and the other guys
and they had got together and did their own thing
in the Michinoku district of Japan or whatever it was
So he was the top star there, breaks out here, gets more stuff with New Japan, has a big match at
in Oneida a couple years later.
If there was ever a year for him to be on, I personally think this would be it.
Well, let's put him on.
All right.
And, of course, you would be there when they would book him against Taka Michinoku and the
WF, and we all thought, all right, this is the beginning of his run into the WV, and instead
Taka Machinoku got the run, which was a big surprise.
It was the great soccer.
Asu K that Taka was against.
So I probably met this guy.
See, you know, he should have not been wearing a mask.
I'd remember what he looks like.
Jim, I'm going to guess not on your list.
Kansuki Sasaki, turning 28 in August.
I'll let you tell me.
I wouldn't put him on my list.
He's not going to get on my list, I'll tell you that.
Certainly debatable for 1994 would be Shinya Hashimoto, turning 29 in July.
I was never a big Hashimoto fan.
I personally wouldn't put them on my list, but I think there's a strong argument.
Well, in that case, let's give him a question, Mark, because we're going to have to come back on this with more research.
Hashimoto 29.
Jim, turning 23 in July, J.C. Ice of PG-13, aka Jamie Dundee.
Well, and let's go ahead, go ahead and give the next one, too, because we'll talk about them together.
That's right.
You can't mention J.C. Ice without mentioning Wolfie D.
Wolfie D.
Although Wolfie D would appreciate it
if you did every once in a while
mentioned him.
Wolfie D turned 21 in December.
I'll just say this real quick.
Although it's 1995, Alan Blackstock,
Alan Cheap Shot on Twitter,
tweeted out a clip of,
I think it was the thugs against PG-13
in Cookville, Tennessee.
And I was at that show.
Yes.
And it got me thinking they were so much fun live.
They were great in engaging the crowd
and there was action and they were funny to
without being comedy, you know,
they were really a lot of fun PG-13.
They were updated hip-hop versions
of old-time Southern Heels.
And Wolfie's father
was a outlaw wrestler
in Tennessee.
And obviously, Jamie's father was Bill Dundee
and, you know, there was no better spot show wrestler
that I've ever seen than Bill Dundee
because he didn't even have to take bumps to make it exciting.
And they learned all that shit.
They both could work.
They could bump.
They knew how to put the matches together,
do the old-time heel tag team shit,
the fucking tiptoe spot,
the arm pump,
the fucking Tennessee tiptoe, whatever the fuck.
So they were a great tag team to watch,
as you said,
and be entertained by,
and they could both get heat
if they were heels,
because they were such cocky, weasley little fuckers,
or they could get over his baby faces
because they knew how to sell.
And they could talk, especially Jamie with a line of bullshit he has,
they could fucking talk.
And the size-wise was an issue,
but not as much in the Tennessee territory
or, you know, anywhere down south
where it was the performance was the deal,
and they could get people.
having said that
I mean really do they deserve the list
because they were on top
in the Memphis territory
and the next year they'd be the same thing
on top in Memphis and they'd work a few
shots for me in Smoky Mountain
when they got to the WWF
it was because they
they wanted them as the rappers
for the nation of domination
and they used them sparingly as wrestlers
and just to you know beat them
but boy they were just entertaining fuckers
and then
Jamie bless him
turned out to be just a mental case
and melted down and
has become a
public spectacle over the last 20 years or whatever
were there any signs of that when he was little
because you like babysat him didn't you
know I didn't babysit him
I heard you babysat Jamie Dundee
I helped him put his Christmas
us toys together in 1983 or whatever.
When we were about to leave for
Louisiana and we were over at Dundee's house.
He was like eight or whatever.
So were there any signs?
Like did he try to smoke any of his toys?
No, I mean, he was a mischievous little toddler.
But when he was a teenager, you know, you could tell he had some
personality like the Dundee family, but you didn't need.
Even when he first got in the business, you didn't know he was going to go completely out of his mind and make all the headlines he's made.
But yeah, a great tag together.
Maybe as a team, let's give them a question mark just because the list is so goddamn shitty.
Because I liked watching them better than I liked watching almost any of these other guys.
All right, Jim, we'll come back to them on the question mark list.
And, of course, not the only person to work the Memphis territory to be accused of losing his mind.
few times, turning 25 in February, Doug Gilbert.
Oh, Lordy, Lordy, Lordy, Lordy.
It's come to this.
Are we considering this?
I don't know.
Doug is 1994?
Was it better at his 93 or his 95?
I don't know what he was doing then.
And I hate, you know, I've told the people, but just real briefly,
Doug has been mad at me for the past 15 years ever since Howard.
Brody wrote his massive and detailed autobiography, and I did the forward for it, and
Doug read the manuscript or the book and didn't like what Howard said about Eddie, so he cussed
me out on the goddamn internet, thinking because my name was on the cover, that I've apparently
said that too.
And I said, have you ever read a book, you stupid motherfucker?
Fucking hillbilly piece of shit.
so anyway
otherwise
I never had a
fucking word with him
until he's like
this motherfucker fuck you
Cornett
what you fucking said
yours
in Howard Brody's book
oh my God
but anyway
yeah I wouldn't put him
on the list
he's
he always
he didn't have
the working ability
of Tommy
or the physique
of Eddie
or the mind
of Eddie
or the
longevity of Tommy or anything of any of the other Gilbert's.
He just, he was the brother.
All right, Jim, a few more names here.
Turning 27 in October, one of your favorites, Latin lover.
Okay, I remember he was over like Rover in some period of time in Mexico.
I would read all about it.
And I don't have any idea when that was or what he was doing in 1994.
Well, clearly it was when Antonio Pena was in charge, but not on your list.
Jim turning 24 in October, another AAA star, and he was really good.
Heavy metal.
Okay, I remember he was not only over, but also that he was legitimately pretty good in the ring,
and he was used well for some time.
Do we remember what his real name was?
Did he change his gimmick?
Did he come here and have something else?
No, he never really...
Am I thinking about somebody else?
I think you're thinking about somebody else.
He's from a wrestling family, but he never really did much in the States.
Well, there you go.
Well, Jim, speaking of wrestling families, the final name on this list,
turning 29 in March.
That's incredible.
I didn't realize how young he was when he started.
Steve Armstrong.
And Steve had been, well, Brad was, Scott was the oldest.
Scott is the oldest.
But I think Brad started first.
then Scott, then Steve, and then finally Brian.
Again, Steve Armstrong, member of the Armstrong family.
What a fucking worker.
And much like when we talked about the Von Erick boys,
that each one of the boys got some part of Fritz,
each one of the Armstrong boys got a part of Bob.
And whereas Scott kind of got the mind,
and he was always the, I don't want to say the thinking one like the others didn't think,
but Scott was a heck of a worker, but he was, and he had a good promo, but he was kind of the,
the thinker.
And Brad was the all-around worker, just incredible.
Steve was the athlete, I think.
He was the biggest and had the size, and then Brian got the promo.
So, but again,
in 1994, Steve was working Smoky Mountain for me.
He'd already had that Lance, what was it, Lance Cassidy, he was,
and the singing cowboy in the WWF,
and then he'd been one of the Southern boys slash young pistols.
But by then he was just doing Indies, working for me some,
and not going to be too much longer for the business.
Everybody sucked in 1994.
even if it was a good talent, they had a bad year.
Well, we'll get to the 30s list or start it next time, but there it is, Jim.
That's the final name we have on our overall list of the wrestlers in the 20s, so we now have nine names that are on our list.
We had to pair them down in 1984, 220, and now we're going to have to go back and beef it up.
Well, we will do that next time.
We're going to go through the question marks next time.
I'm just looking at the radar and out the window, the thing, things are darkening and an ill wind is about to blow.
Well, before the ill wind blows you away, one last thing, let's end with some quick guess the program, if that's okay.
Sure.
All right.
I'll just blow away in a hurricane while I'm guessing Atomwa, Iowa in 1962.
Come on, I think you'll be all right.
Damn it.
I can't use that one now.
Let me move that one.
All right, Jim, this first one here, the opening bout.
Arion Lembrocus.
Oh, good Lord.
Athens Greece 270 versus Lee Henning.
The Mighty Ursus versus Gentleman Jim Haiti.
Ray Vilmer versus the Great Mephisto.
Good Lord.
We have a tag team bout.
The hillbillies.
Rip and Chuck, Boyd County, Kentucky, versus Bob Lapler, or Leipler, from Syracuse.
L-A-P-L-E-R?
L-E-I-P-L-E-R.
I don't know, they might have misspelled that, but nevertheless.
And Mr. Irresistible Sweet Daddy Seeky, Greenwich Village, New York.
Two more bouts here.
Edward Carpontier, Paris, France, 235,
versus the unmasked destroyer,
Joe Killer Christie.
And finally, Jim, the main event,
WWF champion Bruno Sam Martino
versus the Beast,
accompanied by his manager and second,
Martino Angelo.
Martino Angelo.
Okay.
Well, that gives me something to shoot for.
I don't know who Ladis Lachos Falderall was in the opening match against Bulldog Lee Hennig.
The Mighty Ursus was a traveling heel in the 60s.
Gentleman Jim Hady was a name of some repute.
If Ray Vilmer was wrestling Mephisto, that may or may not have been Frankie Cain at that point.
and maybe he just was a local Mephisto.
Rip and Chuck, the hillbillies,
were a offshoot of Chuck and Vic,
the scuffling hillbillies.
Who Bob Laplier?
Was that Bob Lambere, maybe?
Was that who that was?
I don't know.
With Sweet Daddy Seiki,
I'm an Edward Carpontier against Joe Christie,
killer Joe Chris.
I'm thinking, are we all over the fucking place here?
I was going to say maybe Michigan or maybe Montreal or maybe whatever.
But then Bruno against the Beast and the Beast with Martino-Angelo,
are you trying to pull some kind of funny business?
Would this have been an early card that Bruno may have been on in Pittsburgh,
whether or not he owned the territory by this point or not,
with those Midwest guys
may have worked for Pittsburgh
I'm going to say Pittsburgh
the Civic Arena
in
1964 or five
all right I'll give you a point for
1964
it is Thursday August 20th
1964
the Maple Leaf Gardens
Toronto Ontario Canada
son of a bitch all right all right that makes sense too
all right jim his next one here
Jerry O versus Steve Regal
Baron von Rashke
versus gorgeous Jimmy Garvin
Six-man tag team action
Greg Gagneergne
Kurt Henig and Scott Hall
versus Nick Bokwinkle
Ray the Cripler Stevens
and Larry Zabisco
Wow
What a team
Jerry Blackwell
versus Freebird Michael Hayes
A Russian death match
Sergeant Slaughter
versus Boris Zoukov
And the main event
Rick Martell
versus Stan the Lariat Hanson
Well this is an obviously
or this is obviously an AWA show.
Question is where and when with Martel and Hanson on top,
I would bet that was for the AWA title,
or at least about the time that they were working that issue.
Michael Hayes is there with all of those people in the AWA
at the same time,
except is this.
a pro wrestling USA show
because slaughter's involved
and potentially he was drawing
some talent from somewhere else
but it's almost got to be
either late 1984
or sometime around in 85
sounds like a pro wrestling
USA show to me
was it in Baltimore, was it in the Meadowlands?
Baltimore
1984
Oh man
We're in Denver
Colorado
Oh son of a bitch
The Mile High City
Friday October 25th
1985
Five
son of a gun
All right
All right
Let me open this one
Where's the
card?
Hold on
There we go
All right
Well this is a really big card
Here Jim
Let's go to this
Ed Sharkey
versus Jim Starr
Joe Scarpa
versus Duke Miller
Good Lord
Don Don Donucci
Dinochee
D-O-N
versus Frank Shields
Skull Murphy
versus Tom Andrews
Special Attraction
30 minutes one fall
Luthez
versus Magnet
Mervicant Maurice, double main event, world tag team championship, the champions
Pedro Morales and Pepper Gomez versus Mongolian stomper, and Cyclone, it says here,
Pegro, P-E-G-R-O.
I'm going to assume that may be a misprint.
Cyclone Negro.
And finally, for a championship I won't name, the champion Ray Stevens versus Ernie Lad.
one fall
one hour two out of three falls
well now you've thrown me all into turmoil
because when we had
Eddie Sharkey
obviously we've been talking about Sharkey lately
the trainer of all those Minnesota guys
but he was a wrestler back in the 60s when this
was Jim Star
Jungle Jim Star was one of the interns
along with Tom Andrews
and they were both from the Central
States Territes
territory. Joe Scarpa against Duke Miller, Joe Scarpa was Jay Strongbow, and he and Duke Miller both worked in Georgia and Alabama back in them days.
Dom Danucci, obviously, he was settled in Pittsburgh, but he wrestled all over the place. Frank,
bad boy shields was Bull Bolinsky in the AW, the truck driver, in the AWD.
and Bruiser's WWA.
I used to love his promos
when I was a kid.
It's Bull Bolinsky.
Skull Murphy
was the famous
tag team partner of Brut Bernard
and Skull-Mur-He committed suicide.
Did he not? Scull-Murphy?
Or was it Brut?
Which one?
I feel like Skoll-Murphy had some sort of
unseemly...
Untimely...
Or something...
There was something.
I forget what it was.
Lou Thess against Magnificent Maurice.
Magnificent Maurice was a New York heel back in the turn of the 60s.
But then, and Thess again would have fit in the central states,
but then when you go World Tag Team title, Pedro Morales and Pepper Gomez against the
stomper and Cyclone Negro, Morales and Gomez were a tag team in
California, Stomper and Negro were both big back in the central states.
But then for a title, Stevens against Ladd, that puts us in San Francisco at the
Cow Palace, because Ray Stevens was not defending the Central States title against Ernie Ladd
at any point in time.
And Pedro and Pepper wouldn't have been to World Tag Team Champions anywhere else.
but I don't remember
a lot of these guys work in any particular time period
in San Francisco
1965
at the Cal Palace
well Jim it's the Cow Palace
San Francisco, California
June 3rd, 1967
Ah
interesting car
of a bitch
really interesting car
right? It is. And actually, I should have known that because
Stomper wouldn't have been, Stomper got over big at first in Calgary in the
central states, but he wouldn't have been traveling that soon. And
I don't know where Andrews and Starr are the interns yet, or were they about to be.
One last program here, Jim, although this one's fun too. Yeah, one more
Here's a loaded card.
L. D. Lewis
versus Larry Sharp.
Pat Barrett versus Billy Ash.
Mike Pappas
versus the Red Shadow.
Tony Charles
versus Dick Murdoch.
Joe Leduc
versus Baron Saccluna.
Good Lord.
I'm going to give you what's in the program, because there are a few names written in, but in the program.
Danny Hodge versus Bob Rup.
Tony Perisi and Dominic Danucci versus Dick Slater and Mike McCord.
A submission match, Jerry Briscoe, versus Dory Funk Jr.
A Texas Bull Rope match.
Good God.
Dusty Rhodes versus Mongolian Stomper.
And finally, I'll name it,
World Heavyweight Championship match,
Jack Briscoe versus Cowboy Bill Watts.
Lordy, Lordy, Lordy.
Well, going down the list, Larry Sharp,
we know, was the trainer of Bam Bam Bigelow,
started the Monster Factory.
He did a lot of jobs in the old WWWF,
but he was on the road for this,
as we will find out.
Irish Pat Barrett was a former WWWF tag team champion, right?
And worked around the United States in the mid-70s.
Bill Ash was known as the bootmaker, B&A boots,
down there in Paris, Arkansas,
the Golden Greek Mike Pappas,
Tony Charles against Dick Murdoch.
That had to be fucking.
hilarious.
Complete clash of styles.
Ladook against Sucluna.
Holy shit.
This was during Ladook's
baby face period
as the Canadian lumberjack.
Danny Hodge and Bob Roup
is a match that
Eddie Graham and or his
brain trust would book
to get a Woody over.
Slater and Mike McCord
Mike McCord would become
Austin Idol after the wreck,
the plane wreck crash,
which means this was before,
and we'll get to that a minute,
but before February, 1975,
Tony Parisi and Dom Danucci, boy,
I bet they were a hard sell
in the Florida territory in the ring.
Cherry Briscoe against Dory in a stipulation match,
that puts us in Florida, as does Dusty
and the Mongolian stomper.
as does Briscoe and Watts for the world title.
And because Stomper would come to Knoxville and Memphis in 75,
and Briscoe was still the NWA champion,
I'm saying this was 1974 in,
it has to be the St. Petersburg Bayfront Center.
Oh, man.
What?
Well, the program was 50 cents.
Let's just say that.
We're in Tampa.
Son of a bitch.
Tuesday, January 7th, 1975.
The beginning of 70s.
I was off by seven days and 20 miles.
And for the record, written in here, for Billy Ash, written in as Gene Lewis,
for Danny Hodge, written in as Boris Molenko, and for cowboy Bill Watts,
written in as Bob Rup.
Oh, so their main event, Watts no-showed,
so they had to take Rup off the undercard
because he was over enough to challenge Briscoe for the title.
Or did Rup work twice?
Because I have here that Rube beat Mellenko and then Briscoe beat Rup.
Well, yeah, but that's what I'm saying.
They put Rup over Malenko earlier on the card and then brought Rup back
because he was over enough at a level that
you wouldn't have had a world title
they wouldn't have given Dusty and Brisco
away unadvertised
and Dusty and Stomper's
an angle main event anyway and so is
Brisco and Dory
so as of everybody else on the card
the only one that you would have put
in an NWA title match at that point was Rup
well this has been guest
the program and
I got close
you did you did all right I think
it's late in the day
you've had a lot going on
traumatic things happening all about.
Traumatic things.
But Jim, with that, the drive-thru is closed.
Oh, that's not...
That's not sounding right.
That's not right.
Oh, damn. I got to work...
Ow! I got to fix this. I just hit my hand.
All right, we're ending on a great note. It's been such a wonderful professional show.
