He's like, damn, this dude got the roll of a lifetime. I mean, I was literally on there for like an hour. That's it. One thing is crazy about the casino. When you win, they don't want to give you your money, huh? They don't want to give you your money. They want to comp. Listen, they want to cop their money. I had the biggest rooms than ever at the Mandalay Bay because they would

comp, comp, comp, comp. They fucked up with me. One time they cop me, the biggest suite is the only time my grandmother ever left the Bronx. She never left the block in like 80-something years. I gas said to go to Atlantic City with me. She's looking out the window like his marshes. Like she couldn't believe it was so beautiful. She never been in the shit. So we in there, them they were sending me lobster, steaks, all type of shit.

I don't know nobody. They kept coming up to the room. You ready to go downstairs? Mr. Joe. I was like, no, chilling. We eat lobsters, we champagne, everything. They were like, Mr. Joe, you ready to come down. I was like, man, I might have played a couple of slots on the niggas and broke out.

Like, they got, they lost with me. I'm telling you that. That's like an all you can eat buffet. They lost. Sweat, man. Let me tell you something. You're one of my idols. You're one of my biggest inspirations.

You know, I'm thinking driving down here, well, passenger down here in Mayer's car. And I'm just thinking, like, I remember when I fell in love with you. your music, I never even thought I would meet you in my life. Like, just to meet you. You know what I'm saying? And the fact that we're friends, you know, is surreal to me. Who's like that for you? Like, you know, I love Keith's where I bring you to every party. I think, you know, who's like that for you that was out before you that you can't believe you became cool with or you love like that? I was a few people, J.G.,

Yeah. So, so when I, you know, when I first came out, like, everybody used to go to the holiday they, you know, journey full. Root 4. In the Root 4. So, you know, that's why you spent a lot of time when I had to hear reggae. God damn.

because I came out through and went to the snack machine. It would get a little sudden. And I said, oh, man. That was what, I wanted had just dropped. It just had came out. I said, oh, man, damn, you Mark from the Verc. Yeah, so yeah. And he said, you know, Mark had the dark shades on.

You know how Mark was. He had got dark shades on. He said, yeah, I'm Keith Sweat. He said, Keith Sweat. He said, Keith Sweat out, that name's something for me. Yeah, I got the little record I called I Warner. He said, oh shit, that's Joe Favorite record. We got a show at

the Apollo tonight with the Whispers. He said, you should come by. So I came by. That was my first time meeting, Jell and, you know, Sean and all of them. So, you know what I'm saying? And then once we met each other, we became the best of friends. We became like brothers and, you know,

because I never thought, you know, I was big friends or the old Jays and the verse or used to go to Cleveland all the time and stay at the house and everything. So for them, that was Johnny and him was like, that's why I put the LSG thing together because they were all my, or was my two favorites. Yeah.

Wow, I didn't know that, but Johnny killed. I was going to Apollo, though, for you, when you say you went and pulled up on them after Apollo for me, when I think of the Apollo, I'm not sure if I turned. I was even turning 11, I was even 12 or 13. And I'm like, for my birthday, I don't know what I asked for, for that particular birthday. But you ended up at the Apollo.

My mom and my dad, for you suckies that didn't grow up with two parents and you think it's a bad thing. They took me to the Apollo. Is you, heavy deep, and LL. It was the best show model. I'm like, what I'm going to do with a concert?

My mom's right here, my father's right here. This shit was amazing, dog. You killed, is left a lifetime. memory on me for ever. Just sweat L L L and L. The Apollo shit was incredible. I would never forget it. They ripped me.

Yeah, that was my first. It was crazy because my first tour was with Heavy Diener Boy, Salt and Pepper and myself. That was my first tour. You know, shout out to Salt and Pepper. They just won the award in the Hall of Fame. Yes, yes, yes.

Yeah. I was so proud of them. You know, let me tell you something. I did some shows with Salt and Pepper But in the women, it's 99. It definitely ain't Fat Joe fans at that show because the women is 99% come out for, I mean, there is no men. And the whole audience is just women.

Three guys one up in there, the here flows up. You know what I'm saying? So Salt and Pepper, man, I'm so proud of them. We love them, man. And, you know, Heavy Dee, that's another one of my idols. You know, I got to be real cool. We have Heaven come to Miami and hang out with us. I remember the first time I met him

the same situation like a Labert I'm at Tavenan on the green they were throwing them ill parties and I'm using the restroom and the door opened and somebody going you gotta flow Joe I turned around the fucking heavy D

almost pissed on myself I couldn't fucking believe it I was like yo Evans man my fucking I do man he walked in and we got cool and we went to eat after that and I was just like yo heavy D

Like to me, that was like... That was that era, man. That was the best error. You know, we had Mike Epps on here, and Mike Epps gave... I told him, what's your top five comedians? He didn't mention Dave Chappelle. His excuse for not mentioning it was right on. Because he says, you know, me and Chappelle the same era.

I got to mention Richard Pryor. I got to mention the old school guys that was before us who inspired us. That's how I feel. I can see here and say, JZ, but we are for the same error. When they asked me, I got to say LL, KRS, you know, that's that era before us.

These are guys we used to look at what we didn't even think we would ever be a rapper or be successful. So, you know, when I'm at Heavy D, man, I used to try to dance like Heavy D. I still try to dress like Heavy D. Today I'm Gerald LaVeur, though, rest of the people. As Lee. I heard some stories about Gerald O'Rour.

He had the ladies, man. Gerald Lerner, girl, you know, There ain't nothing I won't do for you. The guys ain't giving it up like that no more. Like, they're not singing to the women like... I don't know you feel about the state of R&B. Or is it even a state? I feel like they're trying to do away with the kind of music

we was raised and grew up on the texture of it. Like, what I said about R&B now is some of the R&B artists, they want to rap. They want to be rappers. Because, you know, my attitude is R&B is supposed to be full play. Like when you're breaking up, making up with your girl, you want to play something fly. You know, because if you are going to scream, I'm going to, fuck you. Then you put an R&B record on.

The R&B record saying the same thing. You don't add more confusion. The R&B record cursing that all to y'all to you, do you know what I'm saying? So the R&B record is supposed to calm you down. Listen, baby. I can't say what I want to say to you. So I'm going to let this record say it. You know what I'm saying?

So we need to calm this shit down, have a real conversation. Because if you, it's, I'm going to fuck you and hit me over the head and the R.B. records talk about all that. The students had their own protest. It featured two prominent figures in black history, Martin Luther King Sr. and a young student, Samuel L. Jackson. To be in what we really thought was a revolution. I mean, people were dying. 1968, the murder of Dr. King, which traumatized everyone. The FBI had a role in the murder of a Black Panther leader in Chicago.
