But like watershed is like you can get crabs, you get seafood, you can get Buffalo and you can get everything from there.

That's like one-stop shop when I want to go home, get a good. get a good drink and that's where I met my husband at so I'm like okay cool that's what's up yeah yeah yeah but watershed is where you can go you can also go to moz um moz is downtown too but that's only if you're looking for like seafood anywhere else just go to somewhere else for that yeah what you think about the mail out there cleaning up i heard violence that's my guy hell yeah like crime the crime rage up hell yeah um brandon scott funniest you know this people don't really be believing that he is a real like that's a real like that's a real real guy, like from the hood, born and raised.

You know what I mean? Maybe that's why the crime rate is down? Because he can relate to it. He can relate. That's the thing that people who always want the prim and proper mayor. So where the jokes come from, the Baltimore streets? Most definitely. You were one tough cookie. You not, like. Yeah. Man, I got all of that shit from my father side. My father, my grandmother, that shit. From that side, they ain't rap too tight.

So everything humorous and they laugh when they shouldn't laugh. They make jokes about shit. They shouldn't make jokes about. All that shit comes. from my father's side. And then also just growing up in Baltimore, I got real thick skin just, man, I grew up around my brother.

And he and his friends was fucking roasting me since a child all the way up until I was roasting the ass back. You know what I mean? So me growing up and then having a whole bunch of homeboys, I had a few home girls in there, but grew up around like a lot of the boys, even in the school, I would hang around the guys.

I was like a Tom girl. So, like, you know, I would hang around them until I realized they want fuck. And it's like, uh, nope. I'm gonna come back, you know what I ain't wanna fuck nobody. I just, you know, just wanted to be cool. I was, I found myself being real cool with the guys. So that's how I ended up with thick skin,

being able to roast niggas. Where the marketing come from? Because it was a point where was he doing the COVID, I think? Mm-hmm. It was doing the COVID. You was getting crazy on Instagram. Yeah, yeah, that's, uh, I don't know, you're just standing out. Honestly, I knew everybody was shut down during COVID.

It wasn't nowhere to go. Niggas couldn't have fun, be outside. I mean, people still were, but you know, for the most part, you had to be locked down, especially if you had kids. Everybody kids was home doing virtual school and shit, you know, doing school virtually. So I was like, shit, I'm about to, why everybody home ain't got nothing to watch? Because it was the writer's strike, then actors and sets got shut down, shows got stopped and movies.

I was like, shit, I'm about to get something to watch. And that's just how I did it. I was like, fuck it. I created like four or five series. I started this series called Justify. It's just me on the road. And then I did House of Jewels where I played like five girls and then I played a dude. That was funny.

Then I did Ebony, Zena where it's two bitches with the same baby father going at it and shit. And then like two other series. I was, man, I was real creative with nothing to do. Yeah, but be creative. Fags. Fags. How did it feel going to from Natalie? though to Pai 105.1.

I didn't know you had to replace Angela Yee and all the whole breakfast club drama. Yeah, because a lot of people was confused. A lot of people when Angela Yee left, people didn't know what was the next step. Like, we didn't know what they was going to do next. And you from Baltimore doing New York radio.

Right. I ain't know what the fuck was next neither. When I woke up and I saw this shit, because it came out of nowhere, to be honest with you. I ain't going to hold you. I wasn't even really tuning in to the breakfast club to see the last like two years before she left

because I know she went on Tamara Hall and she was saying like you know it was it was already boiling down to her leaving and shit like she wasn't happy or whatever so I really wasn't even tuning in like that I would catch it every now and then and then but when I woke up and saw the headline

Angelie leave a breakfast club get her own show and I love what she's going with her own shit I was like I hit Charlottomaine like yo I need to be on breakfast club I don't know what yeah I say I don't know what the fuck going on but that's a radio Hall of Fame show these niggas I grew up watching.

I didn't even hold you. I'm just a person who liked to do shit who never did it before. Like, shit, all right. I always been paying attention to Charlemagne. I always say Charlemagne was a comedian in his previous life where he was going to be one in his afterlife.

Like, I always thought he was funny. Envy was always, like he always been the radio guy to me. He got the voice for radio, voice for DJ and, yeah, like, he just is radio. I think about radio, I think about DJ Envy. And then I'm like, shit, they need another female of that they need somebody that's gonna be able to stand up to them. That's gonna disagree with them niggas when they ain't right.

That's still gonna keep it funny, fresh, funky, all that. Give them the real. And I'm like, shit, I'm from Baltimore, who'll better? You know, and so Shala hit me back. Like, all right, cool, we gonna be guest co-hosting for the next few months. He ain't know that shit was gonna turn into a year. I said, all right, cool.

I started coming up there. Next thing you know, I got that shit. So, yeah, definitely shout out to you. Because those are some big shoes to fill. And you and Lauren, definitely, I feel like y'all made the show big. I ain't- Most definitely. I appreciate it. Yeah, she, the journalist part of it.

I'm not playing. I was born and raised in the church. My parents told me everything. Not to do, the more you tell a kid, don't do it, don't do it, don't do it. And I'm like, shit. Yeah. My home girl says she, oh, I wanna see what that's like.

You know what I'm saying? You know what I'm, you know what I'm? Like, shit, I wanna see. So hopped off the porch, right on some dick. I'm telling you. Like, I got my first boyfriend was my baby father. That's why. I thought he was going, it was gonna be, you know,

to death do us part and it ended up to death do we parent because, yeah, I ain't gonna marry this nigga, but yeah, we got, we got a kid, that we got to raise and we got to put everything to the side that we feel and we hurting

each other and shit and this shit is really only hurting our son you know and the way we raise him and shit so I got pregnant at 19

first official boyfriend and then had my son at 20 should I just clear that up my first official boy yeah I was young but it was my first boyfriend

that was my first got you that's right that's right that's right and then yeah life from from there I was a parent real early.

I couldn't go outside and being a club, popping perks, slapping bitches no more. I couldn't do all of that. You know, I had to be home and shit, like raising a kid, you know? And that helped shape who I am today and how I approached my mid-20s and my 30s now that I'm at, I'm 34.

Yeah, like being a mom has really shaped me in the best ways. Facts, yeah. It was great. You had another kid, didn't you? Yep, I did. Just two years ago. I let a nigga shoot up the club later.

Hey, shoot the club up. A 12 year gap. A 12 year gap, y'all. Yeah, I know. Bo, yo, the niggas wasn't niggin. You know what I mean? Like, you know, the guys weren't dying. Look, I'm not one of them bitches.

It's just like, y'all get me pregnant. Like, I was never one of them because I already know what that come with. I was true testament to my son getting here at 20 years old. And I already know I was stuck with, with everything, you know? So it's like, oh, all right. I ain't trying to do that no more. So when I got everything out that I was supposed to get out,

I met my husband and then boom. He told me what he wanted. I told him what the fuck I wanted. It wasn't taking nothing less. And we aligned and we are each other's companions. Like, it's the best, best person I ever met in my life. That's how I'm going to have. Yeah, man.

I'm a baby girl and my baby boy. Look at that. Well, you're mad cool. So I know you and your husband, like you seem like you mad cool. And you say you're about to have more kids. Yeah, I definitely want to give him two more, but sure. I gave him his first. And yeah, and he loves my son like he is his father.

So I love that. Yeah, and my baby father and my husband is fire. I seen you had him on the show and all yeah. Oh yeah. Me and my son father like best friends, y'all. We cool and shit. Like that's my dog. Wrote about all this in the book.

Talk about the book that you got out and all that. Yeah, man. So Deaf Do We Parent is the name of the book. It's a co-parents memoir. And it basically, y'all, I wrote this shit because it's a lot of, it's a bad, bad stigma put on black families, y'all. Like families, period, but especially black. They feel like when we don't make it as a couple, we can't do shit.

We got to hate each other. We can't even come together effectively to raise our kid. Like, I don't know why the fuck they think like that about us, you know, because that's not always the case. Some females do make it hard, though. No, I ain't gonna hold you. Absolutely. Some females make it hard and then they use the baby as like leverage and all the type of

bullshit. You weaponize. Some males, and some males ain't doing shit. You ain't lying about that. You got a lot of deadbeats. So it goes both ways. Yeah. But I know that stigma you're talking about because I had an argument with a cab driver.

And he said, where the fuck is your father? I'm like, my father was still allowed at that time. Wow. Yeah. So people look at it like in a black home like where the fuck is the father. That nigga straight with you talking about the me and me at the cool You made one of them? Yeah.

You said some shit to him to that guy. You're gonna'all right. Yo, I'm fucking, I don't even wanna repeat what I said to him. Wow. But the first thing he said to me was like, where's your father? Crazy. You know, come on, bro. Being a black man and people see you with your kids at the bus stop,

it's amazing to them. Yeah, like what the fuck. Like it's an amazing thing. It is. Like, you take kids kids. So I know what you're saying about that stigma. Yeah, that's bad. So that's what made you really want the right thing.

Yeah, man. I'm like, no, it's time to kill that shit. Like, it's some real, real beautiful genuine black love without parents being together. Like that happens, you know, we got a lot of examples, but we highlight the opposite, you know, because that goes further. That gets all of virality and all of that. But like, no, it's some real, real strong, beautiful black families that are not together, you know. And that's what you're breaking down in the book. Hell yeah, most definitely.

like how women will weaponize like the baby or weaponize like her motherhood to like to to to fuck with the dad's relationship with the kid I did that I did all that I didn't okay look at that my son wasn't his just to get just the hit him in the gun you cold yeah yo and I regret it's cold I regretted as soon as I said it I said man I ain't supposed to be doing this shit that's crazy but I did it he got crazy after that low that what this This nigga bought a bitch to my son's first birthday party. Like, walked up in there. Like, this was around the time.

Love, hip hop was out. This nigga walked down. Like, he was Stevie J. Shorty was Jocelyn. Well, I'm gonna make Shorty Mimi because I can fight. So I would have been Jocelyn. But that's fucked up. Like, I was looking like, wow.

But I already knew where it came from. I told him that this wasn't his kid. Got you. You're not supposed to do no shit like that. Of course. You know, you just, you're not supposed to ring that bell. Once you do it, it's hard to gain that trust back. You know what I mean?

But if it wasn't for my son looking, Mac, dab just like his father. He didn't look like me at all, so he got older, but he looked like. Did you go get the blood work and all that after you said all that shit? Nah, I thought he, I thought that's what he was going to do and I was willing to do it. Gotcha, because you knew like, that nigga, I wasn't, copy. He was like, nah, I ain't going. He said he believed it for a second, but then he got to looking at the pitchers like, man.

You know what way, man. This bitch is just said, you know, man. He just said that shit threw me all. You know, but he still wanted to get that payback and bought that little greasy hair way and bitch to my goddain. No. Shorty shit was, I ain't mad at him, no.

You know she's not playing. She's from Baltimore. You know everybody's tough. Ain't nobody's so. He's from Baltimore too, right? He is. He is. He is tough too. I get that. I knew she was going to flip out. Shit crazy. I knew you flipped out for that birthday part. Yeah, you're going to want the drama at the

brother. Man, come on. This is my family. The church family. Do you know the church family really going to go and talk a day time? We're going to take it to the altar. Now, y'all going to tell everybody else. That's what they mean when they say, we're going to take it to So, I mean, he's just telling everybody, in business. I'm like, you did this shit in front of my pastor. So y'all both felt that pain. You know what I was sawed.

She said in front of her pastor, bro. Yes. How y'all got passed all of that crazy shit? Man, honestly, me and Rome really didn't like reconcile the right way as becoming a team until Ash was like three. It only took like two years for me and Ash to get, I mean, no, Ash was two. It only took two years for me and Rome

to get on the right page. And I honestly gave him a lot of grace. I got to get myself a lot of grades too because for me to be that young, I was 22. You know what I mean? I still should have been crashing out. You know what I mean? By definition of what a 22 year doing that with those facts.

Yeah, but my baby father came with a lot of trauma. He lost his mom at 10. Not only did he lose a, he didn't want to found a dead. So like, nobody ever got him, no counseling, no therapy, no family ever stepped up and was like, I'm going to make sure you good or whatever, you know. So he just grew up, that love. that love stopped abruptly, you know what I mean?

Because now he had to uproot his life from being the only kid, the center of attention. He was his mother's love, like, to now being in a household with all boys. You know what I mean? Like, he had brothers. He went to live with his dad, a stepmom, father wasn't really there like that. And, you know, then he started self, as he got old, he started self-medicating all women.

So, like, shit got real crazy. When he met me, he was already still trying to process how to navigate the grief and shit. I don't know what the fuck going on. And he was playing basketball and shit and all of that, but it was still like, it was a void that was never filled. So I thought it was me, but it was bigger to me. He was looking for his mom. And the love that stopped so abruptly at 10,

and no girl could give him that, because that's a different type of love. So once I started to understand that it was bigger to me and how to change my mindset, and it's like, I need to be this nigga friend, like, because he don't really have nobody that's like really trying to help him cope. You know, and I started doing that.

And what made me do that was when I actually left a nigga alone. I had left Rome and started dating this other guy who was great, not only for me, but for my son. I wanted to get Rome came back, told me everything I wanted to hear. I left the dude, started fucking with him. 24 hours later, I find out Rome got a baby on the way by somebody else. Who he was in another relationship with.

That's when I was like, you know what, yo? I ain't doing this shit. I ain't doing this shit anymore because I don't feel like you was a red flag because you left a good guy for the back foot for the street guy like a lot of women do that but I call myself doing the right thing

because I'm like yo I can leave you or I could cheat on you with my baby father you know what I mean and I kept telling myself that but I'm like no I already knew

it wasn't even me giving Rome another chance to be a family it was me giving him another chance to be my boyfriend because we could have been a family without this I think of being my boyfriend.

We could have raised our son together still. You know, I was still just holding on to that hope of being with him and just, you know, because when I met him, I thought I was going to marry him. We was going to have more kids and blah, blah, blah, but it was, we was young. And then also like Rome had the, Rome still, still fighting that tragic moment, you know, him losing his mom and shit. So, you know, it's a lot of work. You think that's a red flag when a man doesn't get therapy?

Yeah. Yeah, that's a real, going through stuff like that and street anxiety. Absolutely. Because they, a lot of them are walking. around like nothing is wrong with them. They don't even know. Sometimes they don't even realize that shit is wrong with them. Like even men that have been in jail for a long time, niggas be still institution lies and don't even realize it. Like that's a real thing. Like, you know, when you have so many losses back, whatever you in the streets and you losing homeboy at the homeboy or

whatever, whatever, like that shit plays on your mind. Like, for real. And I always, people always be like, yo, everything in life is not about power universe, but no, when you think about it, though. No, it do be. You see how on Raising Kane and Uncle Lee was going through all of that shit, the niggas, killing, killing.

That shit started haunting them. You know what I'm saying? That's real shit. Yeah, we have, like, a story that we're watching it, so it's dramatized, it's TV, but, like, that's real life. Not people going through that. Yeah, you know what I mean?

Niggas be about that, but even in their mind, it still haunts them. All these bodies they're catching, and then also all the people that they lose. So, like, people don't even be real. It's a lot of shit that they got to work through and sitting in a therapy session once a week for three or four years or for the rest of your life

ain't a bad thing. It's going to make you confront shit that you didn't even know was there and it can go back all the way to your childhood. It'll start making you questioning your parents. You'll start having conversations with them. Why am I like this? What the fuck happened?

she was shaking like she was like like right here right here and I feel I'm like all right yeah she don't know what she doing but as long as the doctor back there I'm good I'm like yo hurry to fuck up this shit hurts so she just went in she had to restick me she went in the wrong way that's a long ass needle that they got to put in your back so it can hit your spine infuse the medicine and then you instantly feel a relief you know you go numb you feel the pressure but you go numb yo they had to stick me like two or three times. The doctor ended up saying, yo, move, I'd just do it. I could have sued them.

Didn't even know until I was like 30. You could lose your legs. Man, yeah, shit. Yo, one wrong move. You are done. You know what I mean? So I'm like, y'all could have sued them. And I was like, you know what?

Fuck all that. So I vowed to never do the fucking epidural again. I don't get fuck how many kids. I don't care how big the baby is. If you split me, man, sew me up. Just give me a blunt. I'll be good. Like, you know what I'm saying?

I can't do that. that shit, you know, but that's why I never did that, but I did the abador with my daughter, slid our ass out. Look at that, period. And breastfed, all of that shit. Out of everything, the breastfeeding was the hardest. That shit hurt, man. Yeah, I hear them say that a lot, man, I got kids, so I know they don't really like that.

Y'all don't, the females really kind of hate that. Oh, my God. At first, I, start biting on the mipples. Yeah, yes, because they're trying to bite the seed. Like, come on, because one nipple might not be, you know, the flow ain't as good as the other one, and so they want this one, but you want this one so much. shit hurts. But I think I started feeling like my, when my daughter was like, like last, last Christmas, I will say. So she was, she was one, like one in three months. Okay. And that's when I got back, yo, but she don't even really know.

I can't speak for anybody else, but I didn't know that I was depressed, like, from postpartum until I came out of it. Like, I just wasn't feeling funny. I didn't want to eat. I couldn't do shit. I was like, yo, I didn't even go on the road. I was like, yo, I'm gonna be replaced at work. They replaced me with this other girl shit.

And then I was like, yeah, I don't feel. You was fucking shit up, Lauren. Yeah, yeah, that's my girl. That's my whole. That's my sister, man. Shut after, Lord. We're gonna get you on the show too, man. Right?

I was like, yo, I don't know what the fuck is happening right now. I don't feel funny. I don't feel like I can go in front. Yo, that first show, I never forget. I went to New Brunswick, New Jersey, the Stress Factory, New Brunswick. My first show coming off of having my baby, I think my daughter was like,

I bought her there with me because I had the breastfeeding in between shows and shit. What? Yo, hell yeah, man. Man, what? Yeah, she working. I could be a mother.

Nigger, I was breastfeeding in between shows. I'm up there, my teeth. He's burning and shit. I'm like, yo. Like, you know what I mean? And I was still emotional, so I cried after the show. I'm like, yo, y'all really came out for me.

Thank you. Everybody looks like, nigger, you just learned. What the fuck you mean? And I'm like, that's what post-partum depression does to you. It makes you forget who you are. It makes you forget your greatness, all the greatness that you got. Like I wasn't creative. I felt like I wasn't shit.

Y'all, I didn't feel pretty. And no matter how many times my husband was like, no, you're beautiful. You still a love of my life. Like, what the fuck you mean? You just gave me my first daughter. And I still was like, I can't get shit right. I don't know.

I suck in radio. I can't do shit. You see they bought the other girl. of dead again. You know what I'm saying? It was just a lot. And then when I came back, it was still even hard like getting back into the rhythm and shit. Start questioning everything about yourself. Everything, you know. And I was just like, all right, yeah, did this, I don't know what's happening. And then so it was, I had writers block for a while. I was on stage. I just had to like come out of the top of the head on anything because I couldn't even write. I was

at a standstill with everything. Stagnation was for real, like my middle name for like a year. And then I started getting it back. Started getting my shit right. I was like, all right, cool, cool. But you know what? I started deep diving into my Bible, praying. I'm not saying because the ladies need their heads to know how they can get with this shit and come out of that. Yes, like to be honest.

My God, definitely be yours. I can't front on that. Yeah, man. I don't care. Like, I was like, that's honest. Like, honest to God truth. I was like, all right, cool. I started praying.

At first when I was in it, I didn't. didn't even feel like I was praying, right? I'm like, yo, I keep messing up on this prayer. And it's just like, it don't even matter. My husband was like, yo, you don't need a script. Of course, facts. Like, yo, what's wrong with you? Like, just talk to him.

And after, like, after a while, after my daughter turned one and all of that shit, I was like, look, God, look, I don't know what's happening. You know what I mean? Like, please, like, help me. And I started reading my Bible. And I just started praying. I asked my husband, can he pray for me? Help me pray out of this.

Like, help me pray myself out of this. I can't, you know? And that's what happened. And I just really, really just linked on my faith. You're like, all right. Then I was like, I should have done this early. You know, yes, God is good all the time. All the time.
