Perhaps expand a little bit. We are not associated with Joe Rogan in any way. Think of us as the Talking Dead to Joe's Walking Dead. You're listening to the Joe Rogan Experience Review. What a bizarre thing we've created. Now with your host, Adam Thorne. This might either be the worst podcast or the best one of all time.
Starting point is 00:01:23 Two, one, go. Enjoy the show. I'll tell you one thing. I hate to be the worst, but I guess we're the best one of all time. Two, one, go. Enjoy the show. I'll tell you one thing. The way the administration handled that, I think, put a bad taste in a lot of people's mouth while at the same time they're sending all that money to Ukraine. I think that was a big problem with the Biden administration when they did that. I think you can't do that. You can't while you're sending all this money Overseas ignore the people that are here because then it's like why do you why are you deciding in this manner?
Starting point is 00:01:55 That you don't want to help people that were hit with one of the biggest wildfire tragedies ever Why are you why are you deciding to give them? $700 like especially in one of the most beautiful places that our country has to even exist It's like only that but you're not protecting them from potential land grabs. There we go potential land grabs That's Theo von on Joe Rogan This is the first conversation these two have had since the election. Obviously both of them played a big part in Donald Trump's Podcasting played a big part in Donald Trump's podcasting, campaigning, I would say. And, and there they were talking a little bit about the Maui fires, which honestly, people aren't talking about much.
Starting point is 00:02:39 And it kind of was washed over after the whole thing went down, which is such a tragedy and awful. You know, they there were talking about, you know, how critical they were of the response to the fires and, you know, what the Biden administration did. I know BJ Penn and Tulsi Gabba came on and talked about how nothing was getting done and there was some sketchy shit going down. You know, just the fact that they offered him $750 each when you know, so many millions and billions were going to Ukraine. It's heartbreaking, right? Even if you're pro all the money going to Ukraine.
Starting point is 00:03:23 Like isn't there a point where we're like, okay, all this 10 billion we're about to send, we're gonna have to keep three of it because we've just had a tragedy and these are our people and we gotta take care of them. Like is that out of the capability of the Biden administration? Do they not have the power to do that?
Starting point is 00:03:45 I mean, I know a lot of the money for Ukraine was approved by Congress, but could they not get money approved from Congress for the fires for rebuilding? Yeah. I mean, I can't, I can't speak to the process at which money is approved. Right. Speculative, speculatively. I don't know. I mean, I just, I think the O's right.
Starting point is 00:04:06 Like it is for anyone who's been to Hawaii, Hawaii is so special of a place. Like it is unlike any other place in the world, even though like there's other tropical vacation spots, there's Mexico, you know, there's, you know, the Bahamas, whatever, but something about Hawaii is really special and there's a lot of history there.
Starting point is 00:04:28 There's a lot of, there's a lot of historical sites. And so on top of, you know, this like 102 people died. So that's the count that they've settled on 102. Thousands of people lost their homes and livelihoods. You know, plenty of people, youenty of people are just literally homeless now. And obviously the land, like they've said, is so valuable because it is so incredibly special and beautiful. And it's a part of the United States.
Starting point is 00:04:59 There's no other territory or state in the United States that looks like Hawaii, right? And there's a reason it's so expensive to vacation there is because you can't get anything else like it in the country, right? And so, yeah, I'm just like, I'm just in awe and disgust that like so little was given to them. I can't say what is happening in the legislation
Starting point is 00:05:24 and how that money got approved and why they felt like $750 was adequate, but it's absolutely not. Like the value within, you know, what a person's home is and their livelihood and their lifestyle, especially when it comes down to people who have such a strong unique culture like those that live in Hawaii.
Starting point is 00:05:41 I don't know. Well, I mean, look, they accidentally sent six billion extra dollars to the Ukraine. You know, could they not accidentally send fucking four billion to Hawaii? I mean, intentionally. Seven hundred and fifty dollars. Yeah. Under the Biden administration, that's like four twelve packs of eggs.
Starting point is 00:06:04 Groceries are ridiculous. They are are ridiculous they are intentionally send it like send a message that like people are important and when tragedies happen like we take care of our people they didn't do that we're taking care of a lot of other people in a whole different part of the world that I understand there's some resources and things like that that are involved that feel important to those that are sending the money. But I mean, what are we doing here? Yeah, it makes you think like how well they did
Starting point is 00:06:30 with all the flooding that happened recently and the hurricane stuff. Oh, nothing. Probably not good? It was the same thing, $700 is what they got. And it's like, why are we not? And I think with the election, a lot of that kind of got swept under.
Starting point is 00:06:42 It was like sort of part of it, but not really. It was like, everyone sort of had their campaign strategy. Everyone sort of had their campaign pillars and that like obviously sort of just complicated things. But the people whose houses got swept away. They haven't forgotten. And those communities, yeah, they're voting differently. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:06:58 There's a price there. Yeah. Look, I want to start this out just by kind of addressing Theo's mood. Poor Theo. He seemed Um, poor Theo. He seemed like, and it was still a great conversation. I was glad he was on. He wasn't a bummer at all, but he seemed like he was having a rough time. And he's, you know, he's an open book.
Starting point is 00:07:18 Like you could see it. He's struggling. Joe gave him some advice and was like, Hey buddy, you, you need to be around people. You can't be in the woods on your own all the time. I love his little analogies and metaphors that he just throws in there, but it's good. It's like, it's true. It's like, Theo, buddy, move down to Austin. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:07:38 Okay. Just move down there. I know you're busy. Go find a house, get back to that community. You'd have a great time at the comedy mothership all the time. You can tour from there. Do whatever you want. You got money, you know, still have your place in Nashville or wherever it is that you live. But get amongst that community because you're struggling brother and all the smelling salts
Starting point is 00:08:02 and whatever drinks you were trying to. He was feigning for some type of high. He wanted some zins. He wanted anything and everything. He was seeking to get a little buzz. I mean, I think there was a lot to unpack, but just when you saw his body language and his... I mean, I wouldn't say he was like non-enthusiastic, but...
Starting point is 00:08:25 Oh, he kept collapsing into the mic. He literally was like... He was putting his eyeball into the mic. And I just... Poor dude. I want to give him a hug. I just want to say that. I just wanted to give the guy a hug and be like, perk up, dude. Like, you've done great things. You have a very popular podcast. Like, you're so funny. You're so light and you bring so much heart and like, you know, just just
Starting point is 00:08:49 Just a lot of like love to like the podcast world, right? Yeah, so Let let some of the stress go but also, you know Yeah, he talked a little bit about like the potential of wanting kids and wanting to find a wife and all of that. And so the sense of sadness that you got from him was a little sad. He was just feeling lonely, you know? And a bit incomplete is what it seemed like.
Starting point is 00:09:14 And it came across, you know, in a bigger way than it usually does. Like he mentioned things like that on his show. And he's, like I said, he's an open book, but, you know, I'm not gonna say I'm worried about him, but I'm like, hey, he needs a hug. He needs a few more days at the Comedy Mothership and hopefully Rogan can kind of get him back on track. Did he used to live in Austin?
Starting point is 00:09:40 No, but he used to live in LA with, Got you. Near the Comedy Store where there was a great scene and a lot of support because of COVID, you know, he moved back to or he moved to Nashville. I don't know if it was back to Nashville if he'd lived there, but, and he has a probably a bit of a community there, but it's not quite the same. It's not like that level of comics. And though I would assume Nate, what's his name, Nate Bagazzi is there. So.
Starting point is 00:10:11 Did that guy's funny? He's great. All right, election night of the comedy mothership. Now this was interesting to me because Kurt Maxxer was there, obviously Tony, Hinchcliffe and the Puerto Rican joke. So like Joe was saying, Tony was praying, praying hard. It sounded like a great group of people to have that
Starting point is 00:10:30 and be having a blast with. Now I'm sure it's always that fun at the mothership, but on an election night is kind of something special because comedians, you know, are often talking about these like world events and making jokes out of it and this time around You've got three people in the same club That had an impact on the election. This episode is brought to you by DraftKings casino It's the most wonderful time of the year

I think it's fair to say Theo being one of the first people to interview Trump kind of set the podcasting, campaigning in motion, which ultimately
Starting point is 00:12:28 once he got to Rogan show was a huge benefit for the Trump campaign. And then of course, Tony did his Puerto Rican joke at the, uh, and look, I'm not laughing at the joke. I'm laughing at the fact that he was even pulled into this at all. But he went to, what was it, Madison Square Garden and went to the Trump rally, opened up, which is like so odd. And even Obama, like it did his bit kind of explaining that Tony is a racist. Like, wild, dude.
Starting point is 00:13:07 So now you've got them all in this club, obviously heavily invested in this outcome on this night, and just watching it together, like, ah, to be a fly on the wall. Uh-huh. I was just thinking that, like, I want to invite to that party. Yeah. It would have been so sick. So fun. I mean he they talked about um Joe was saying that he was getting like different election results from all his different sources
Starting point is 00:13:32 You know this the seat this place and this platform and this with this app. Yeah, but apparently elon was there And no no elon wasn't at the mother. It was never he created like his own app to like Get the election results before. So Elon was with Trump and Dana White. At wherever they were. And supposedly, yeah, with this app, Elon knew like four hours before. I don't know how, but are you surprised that the, that, you know, the Tony stock of human beings, you know? No, not at all.
Starting point is 00:14:12 And Iron Man minus the suit. Right. Just has an app that told him he's like, Donald one, I'm going home. Literally. I was just saying Joe's impression of him is that exactly that Donald one, I'm going home four hours early. It's just, like you can just picture it happening and yeah, this is all hearsay,
Starting point is 00:14:30 we have no idea how the app worked or if it was accurate, but he was confident in it and that's what happened. That was quite funny. And yeah, but I think getting an invite to that party is like the new- When is he long gonna start the new Diddy party. Yeah. Well, but with less, less baby oil, I think.
Starting point is 00:14:53 How long do you think it'd be before Elon starts going to the UFC? And what's interesting about that is Zuckerberg loves going to the UFC. So if you get Elon and Zuckaburg there. Wasn't there supposed to be a fight between the two of them? Oh yeah, that's just Elon talking shit to Mark. I haven't forgotten. Zuckaburg started training jujitsu real hard. They were gonna fight in the fucking coliseum or something.
Starting point is 00:15:18 He's about 60 pounds lighter than Elon. So other than being a lot younger, I mean, unless he learns some jujitsu real fast, Elon's way bigger. Yeah. But yeah, that, but I would love to see him going to some UFC is just kind of being a part of that sport, you know, I mean, to see two of the potentially wealthy, well, basically wealthy as people in the world into the sport that I love the most.
Starting point is 00:15:47 I'm all for it. I'm like, let's fucking go. Yeah, I'm not like, I wouldn't say I'm the biggest UFC. Elon could host the first UFC on Mars. It's a big deal. That he could. No, I'm not the biggest UFC fan, but I would watch that. I mean, I watch some of the UFC fights.
Starting point is 00:16:05 Like, I don't know, it's kind of nice sometimes watching the women. It's a little bit empowering to watch them. And you're like, gosh, I don't know that I could ever get punched in the face like that. But you know, but I would totally watch that. That would be so cool to see. Like just those two people, especially in the Coliseum.
Starting point is 00:16:21 I mean, that's like something you can never imagine happening. I mean, no one fights in the Coliseum. Those two aren't going to fight. They're too busy doing porn shit. They all reached out to the country of Italy and were like, Italy, we want to use the Coliseum. No, no, no. I think Italy reached out to them.
Starting point is 00:16:37 Yeah. Dana was like on a call with the people that could allow it at the Coliseum. It's so weird. I mean, you know, when it's those two though, like people forget billionaires can do whatever the fuck they want. Like you can't break the laws,
Starting point is 00:16:53 but they can do almost anything that they wanna do. Cause they could just afford it. Well, I just, sometimes I think about like, can you imagine being as smart as Elon Musk and just being like, waking up the day before the election and being like, I'm gonna find my own way to figure out the results before, or like, I'm gonna solve my own problem today,
Starting point is 00:17:13 like I'll have this issue, I'm gonna figure it out, I don't need anyone's help. It's like, I'm so helpless. Like, if something breaks, I'm like, throw it away, I don't know. I'm like, throw it away. I don't know. I can't. When you own Twitter and you know, super computers
Starting point is 00:17:29 and your own AI, I mean, I'm sure you can gather a lot of fucking information real fast. Yeah. Imagine having the completely uncensored version of chat GPT. Oh, yeah. You just ask it, how do I take over the world? And it gives you like a one through 10 step.
Starting point is 00:17:46 It says be weird. Be extra strange. Hop up and down. Oddly talk odd. Yeah, just do it. Let's talk about, uh, voting trends. Theo got into that and was kind of like speculating a little bit and making some jokes as well on the 2020 elections and, and you know, how they were influenced maybe by the
Starting point is 00:18:12 lockdown or were people just kind of like bored and hanging at home or was there something else? I mean, 18 million more votes. I think it was, was it that many? 81 to 66, I guess not. No, so 15 million. That's a shitload of extra votes. I know people hated Trump, and therefore were like very motivated, but it's just, it's an unusual outlier. And especially since it was like around the time
Starting point is 00:18:44 when there was mail-in ballots, which was new on a mass level. So sometimes it takes multiple elections or attempts at anything to get those systems down well. It's like, oh, are we to believe that the first mass mail-in ballot election, we nailed it? Like, have you seen the US Postal Service? Well, it was struggling during that time, definitely. I mean, well, maybe not during the election, but in the years to follow it, I don't know
Starting point is 00:19:16 if anyone remembers that, but like mail was like so late. It was so, but so, I mean, from my perspective, I voted mail-in during that election out of Montana. And Montana's always had mail-in voting because it's like a very rural state, it's very large in geographic area. And so, like mail-in votes are really important for those in rural counties and things like that. There was a lot of speculation.
Starting point is 00:19:42 I don't believe that there's like this massive conspiracy that 15 million false votes existed. Right. But what I want to know is where they came from, because that can be leveraged in future elections. I mean, that's just the that's all there is to it. It's like if it was if it was one, you know, potentially people were at home on lockdown, they were bored So they voted I don't know that I believe that that's like the mass month Maybe that's a couple hundred thousand right like across the country or people just like kind of bored
Starting point is 00:20:14 I'm a little bit fired up and paying more attention. I'm gonna go vote. I have the time right and Mail and voting increase because people were at home, right? So like people physically went because they weren't working or because they didn't have to be in the office, they were able to go to the polls. Mail-in voting obviously increased. We know that that reflected in how long it took to count the votes.
Starting point is 00:20:35 And then also, you know, like, younger voters maybe mobilized just over like their dislike for Trump during that election season and like kind of the fear around everything and sort of like Looking for the ultimate online casino experience? Step into the BetMGM Casino app where every deal, spin and goal brings Las Vegas excitement into the palm of your hand. Take your seat at Premium Blackjack Pro where strategy strategy meets top-tier gameplay. Hit the ice with Gretzky Goal Lucky Tap, inspired by the great one himself.

BetMGM operates pursuant to an operating agreement with iGaming Ontario.
Starting point is 00:21:45 Warning some consistency with what was happening or some like inconsistency what was happening, like a change because they were so scared of what was to come with the pandemic that they thought going out and voting against him was going to like, and voting for Biden was going to like fix what they were dealing with. But we obviously realized like that wasn't the case.
Starting point is 00:22:04 It was like, it- It seems pretty fucking comical now. Fucking backfired on them for sure. When we like groceries or how much? Yeah. I mean, I don't know. I think it could be a good combination of the three and maybe some other things that we're not considering. I think it'd be really interesting to hear from those listening, like why you think that that is and I mean again Voter fraud is obviously like on the table, but I truly don't believe that they voter fraud at 15
Starting point is 00:22:32 Supposedly there were a lot of investigations to look into it and they did not find any right Stanchel voter fraud, you know, so you're inclined to believe it, yet it still seems really funky. And I wouldn't be surprised if in 20 years we get some information about this using AI and some other software and some other investigative process to where we're like, oh, this is what happens. And it was wild. I wouldn't be surprised.
Starting point is 00:23:05 One thing they talked about that I think is like a fabulous idea, which I don't know why this isn't a thing. I'm sure people have thought about it and proposed it before, but like why, you know, because in 2020, so many people weren't home and they weren't like physically at work, whether it was they were out of work or they were just working from home, like they weren't there.
Starting point is 00:23:22 And like, it's like basically a holiday. Why is an election day a holiday? That's a good point. Why is it not a paid national bank holiday? Why don't they just make it Saturday? Well, you can't make it Saturday. No, you couldn't make it Saturday, but why don't make it a fucking Friday,
Starting point is 00:23:36 make it a three-day goddamn weekend. Why can't you make it Saturday? You can't make a national holiday on Saturday. No, no, I mean, just if it's Saturday, it doesn't have to be a holiday. People aren't working on Saturday. There's banks that are still open on Saturdays. There's restaurants. I mean, there's still life goes on.
Starting point is 00:23:50 But like if you make it a weekday, it can be a bank national holiday or what? National holiday, bank holiday, whatever you want to call it. But but national holidays, like restaurants and different things are still open as well. So some people have to do that. That's true. Yeah. But if you work those days, you get paid extra. If you work a national holiday, a lot of times you get paid. You get paid extra to work on Saturday. You get holiday pay. Well, yeah, but whatever. Either way, we're talking about the same thing, but Saturday is less work because you don't
Starting point is 00:24:17 have to make a holiday. Most people are off. It should be a holiday. It's a big fucking day. It's once every four years. It's one of the most important things that we do as a citizen is vote and What if it increased and we had a consistent? You know jump in votes. What if we had 15 to 20 more millions reasonable? I'm saying either one would be good Okay, and if you want a national holiday Sweetheart, I'll get you one. They get it. We do it. We do it. We're doing a campaign Sweetheart, I'll get you one. They get it from me. We do it.
Starting point is 00:24:44 We're going to campaign on that. I'm very passionate about this. I'm not going to shut up about it. But no, it makes sense. I mean, look, we're always talking about more access to voting, right? That's why they don't have, they don't require voter ID and what seems like only the states that went blue, which is quite sort of interesting. But you know, it's all about access for voting.
Starting point is 00:25:06 And there is no better way to have better access to voting than to make sure people are not working that day. Like if it was a Pride4 national event where everyone was off, and you know, let's get crazy. Let's make everyone off that day, but they also get paid. It's just a thing that happens. It doesn't happen every year, but it happens when it happens.
Starting point is 00:25:35 And then everyone still gets paid to not have to go to work. And the idea is, and the hope is that they go vote, but also it's their right to not vote if they don't want to, because this is America. But I think we would have then record turnouts and, you know, that's just better for democracy as a whole. Talking about things that are not good for democracy, though, is all these fucking celebrity endorsements. Yeah. And can we go through some of these?
Starting point is 00:26:03 I know it's kind of unfair because the left gets more of them. So it just looks bad. I mean, the right had some Kid Rock. It had someone Rose. I don't know who she was. She was like a model. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:26:18 She had a shaved head. I don't know. You know, Amber Rose. Is that a person? Yeah. Her. Who else? Hulk Hogan. You know, Amber Rose. Is that a person? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Her. Um, who else? Hulk Hogan. I mean, Elon Musk, Joe Rogan. They're a little different. Eventually. Dana White, I guess. But they came around. Celebrity celebrities, you know, like Hulk Hogan. Entertainers. I get what you mean.
Starting point is 00:26:38 True. And then on the left, JLo, Eminem. Pio Once. Fr, freaking, oh, Dave Bautista. Did you watch? Yeah. So they talked about his video where he's, he's like Donald Trump's a wimp. Oh my God. If you want to be really tough, vote for Kamala. I don't even know what the video now that Trump won
Starting point is 00:27:02 looks so bad. I don't know what to think. Like I liked him as an actor. I thought because of the Guardian movies, like he, you know, he's to be, to go from being a wrestler to an actor is hard. The rock did it, crushed it. You know, Bautista, how do you say his name? Bautista. He seemed like he wasn't quite going to get his acting chops down,
Starting point is 00:27:25 but honestly, he was doing good. He was starting to do some movies that I liked. And I believed it. He had some like heart in there. And then you just start acting like this, you know, and it's not that he was supporting Kamala, like that's fine. But but like, don't be that cheesy and it's like what are you? But what are you even trying to do? Did they pay him a lot of money to do this or is he just like feels this strongly about? elections, I mean Yeah, I would think I just feel like if I was any level of celebrity, which I never want to be, hope never happens,
Starting point is 00:28:07 and it won't because I'm not talented enough, but I could never stand for any politician. Like even if I was into one of them, I'm like, why would I work this hard to get to this point and then just attach myself to some nincompoop political party? Regardless, it just seems like such a dumb move. You know, I guess for like the J-Lo's and the Cardi B's, it's like, they're just expected to do that maybe. I don't know. Yeah. Though you do have to question JLo's ability to make good decisions. Yeah. I mean, I think we talked about this briefly on a previous episode in terms of like the influence and the impact that celebrities endorsing a certain party have on the image of that party as a whole. And when Elon Musk comes out and says, I endorse Donald Trump because I'm going to fix a problem,
Starting point is 00:29:17 people tend to think, oh, Donald Trump's gonna fix this problem. Donald Trump is not Elon Musk, right? But at the same time, the celebrities that, you know, I mean, there were a lot of companies and celebrities and, you know, C-suite people that were supporting the Democratic Party. Don't get me wrong with they existed.
Starting point is 00:29:34 It's pretty equal. I imagine, but the those that they like really led with like the entertainers, the artists, it's like, yeah, you guys are really talented at one thing, but you're not gonna solve, you're not gonna fix the problems in our economy. You're not gonna be an advocate in the, you're not gonna be a cabinet member in the White House. You don't have a seat at the table.
Starting point is 00:29:58 You're just someone who has a large following and people listen to those who like already they're listening to in terms of like they're consuming their music and so on, their social media content, whatever. But these people are not really contributing to like the cause in any way. They're just like getting emotional,
Starting point is 00:30:18 they're actors, they're singers, they're whatever, performers and they put on a really good performance and that's what Bautista did. I didn't not enjoy the video. Like it was quite comical. It was quite entertaining and like absolutely spoke to me a little bit in terms of like what he was saying. But at the same time you look at it, like you said, after the election now and it's
Starting point is 00:30:37 like it's a bit silly. Like it's it's very dramatic. Yeah. Well, I mean, my point is like what did he hope to gain from it? Obviously that she won, maybe some roles. Maybe that really like stamps him as like one of the real lefties, you know, for Hollywood. And he can start getting some real artsy roles.
Starting point is 00:30:59 I don't know. I mean, I mean, he thought about it, you know, I'm sure he discussed the idea with people and, um, but it just, like, it's, for me, it's equally as ugly if he came out the other way. Like, and was like, yeah, I'm pro Trump and I'm tough and so is Trump and he got shot and he's okay and you need a real man in that. I'd be like, like, all right, dude. Yeah, maybe. Yeah. Like, I just don't know if that helps those messages.
Starting point is 00:31:31 I don't think it does. I think it's a lot of like, you know when, like, did you ever watch that show, like, My Sweet 16 or just like, you know, the concept of like having like a major birthday party for like a teenager? I heard about that. Okay yes. Looking for the ultimate online casino experience? BetMGM operates pursuant to an operating agreement with iGaming Ontario. They like do things like, you know,
Starting point is 00:32:45 these super, super, super ultra wealthy people. You don't even know their names, they're so wealthy. And like, they pay like usher to come to their kids 16th birthday party or whatever in sync. Like, you know, like whoever the big band is at this point, they pay like millions and millions and millions of dollars for like six hours or four hours of this like artist time. It's like these artists can be bought.
Starting point is 00:33:07 They can be bought. Easily, but like not for that much money. Like when it comes to, she spent how much fucking money Kamala Harris on this campaign? A billion dollars. Paying him to do that, she probably could have paid him $2 million and he's like done, I'm doing it.
Starting point is 00:33:21 Do you think if these- But it's like it totally degrades like the quality and like, you know, like this guy does not know this person. This is not a favor he's doing. He's paying this person to do it. More than likely. Yeah. Do you think that, I mean, you know, talking of those wealthy people in Hollywood or LA that pay in sync or Beyonce or Usher to come to sing
Starting point is 00:33:49 at their kids party or their party or whatever. Do you think that they also have a bit of bragging rights to be like, oh I didn't even need a payer, we just know her through someone. They just make it seem like it's it's just a favor. Right, well that's what they would like want you to think, but seem like it's just a favor even. Right. Well, that's what they would like want you to think. But in reality, it's like these celebrities can be bought like for not that much, you know? I'm sure they're not cheap, babe.
Starting point is 00:34:15 Well, but in terms of like, when you have money, when you have that kind of money, it's like, and you want people to think that you're so special that John Legend comes to your birthday or comes to your wife's party and sings to her. If you can drop a hundred grand on them showing up and literally playing like five songs. Or two, you know?
Starting point is 00:34:35 Right. And singing happy birthday and leaving. It's like, that seems like a favor, but it's not. It was a gig, you know? And that's for a lot of up and coming artists, like that's how they make their money, you know? And that's, for a lot of up and coming artists, that's how they make their money, you know? Because it's like they're popular, but maybe they don't have like a actual record contract yet,
Starting point is 00:34:52 regardless. But he's like a reasonably big actor, like you said, he's in the Guardians of the Galaxy, like his IMBD, pretty impressive. But in terms of that, like, I just looked up his endorsement of it, and he even made some social media posts about it. I don't doubt that he believed in that campaign
Starting point is 00:35:10 and that he supported it, but absolutely he got paid to do it. He didn't do it just for fun. So that's where it's like- I mean, we're speculating, but it's- I don't know. I mean, you look at the other side and you look at how diehard Elon Musk was over
Starting point is 00:35:27 supporting his endorsement of Donald Trump and he paid how much money like 50 million dollars, 100 million dollars to the campaign like you know there's a lot of out there that says he straight up bought the vote but you know he thought it was so important that he paid to have that done. Like he's this bigger celebrity than Bautista is. But Bautista probably got paid to do that commercial from the Harris campaign. I mean they spent a lot of stupid ass money and on stupid things and you know he went with it. It kind of leads into some of the critique that she started to get. I mean, Joe and Theo talked about it. Um, so there was a few things that happened.
Starting point is 00:36:10 Like she had, she was nominated by Biden supposedly, so they couldn't do a primary. They had to, the Democrats had to put all their eggs in the basket of Kamala hoping that she could nail it. And then they did a debate. And the Trump-Kamala debate kind of looked pretty even. Potentially, Kamala looked a bit better, you know? I mean, it didn't really help that the mediators only, or moderators only
Starting point is 00:36:42 fat checked Trump, which was kind of a little bullshit. They could have hit Kamala up, especially with her statement when she was like, oh, there's no foreign people abroad, military people abroad fighting. And it's like, what are you talking about? But she did build some momentum from that. Then she went on to make a speech that Joe was discussing. I'm going to play it now, and you can kind of tell that she was really gaining some momentum at this point. debate, but he and his running mate sure seem to have a lot to say about me.
Starting point is 00:37:25 And by the way, don't you find some of'll reconsider to meet me on the debate stage. Because as the saying goes, if you've got something to say, say it to my face. There you go. So, you know, I don't have a lot to say about the style of that, but that's someone that is feeling the crowd. That's someone who's speaking to the crowd and the crowd is like, I think we got something here. Like the debate went well. This seems like a win. He doesn't want to do it again. She might be able to handle him, uh, which let's be fair.
Starting point is 00:38:37 Many politicians haven't turned out. She couldn't ultimately, and you know, lost miserably but it's like what were the pieces there and in one of the uglier bits was some of the compilations that have been put together on her accents and this is her speaking at different places and I'm just gonna play a short bit of it because I don't want to I don't want it to go on for too long. But it really does give you an idea of like, it's just awkward and really cringy. And I don't know what she was trying to do, but you know, you be the judge of it. I love you back. I love you back. Hello to all my Divine Nine brothers and sisters and my Sororians.
Starting point is 00:39:33 You better thank a union member for the five day work week. You better thank a union member for sick leave. You better thank a union member for sick leave. You better thank a union member for paid leave. You better thank a union member for vacation time. Let us get through the next 64 days. And you all helped us win in 2020 and we're gonna do it again in 2024. Yes we will. Yes, we will. Donald Trump, on the other hand, has been talking a big game about securing our border, but he does not walk it like he talks
Starting point is 00:40:29 Oh My goodness, I mean it's a lot. I they describe what is going on They describe her as a Joe describes her as a chameleon and I don't know I mean I think as a politician like this is like a good trait, it's an effective trait, right, to like talk to your audience, like know who your audience is and like meet, you know, like talk to.
Starting point is 00:40:53 And Theo. I don't think anyone would say it's very genuine though. It's not genuine, but Theo even says, he's like, you know, I kind of meet people where they're at. Like if I walk up to someone and like, they're talking in a certain way, I'm like, hey, like I'm going to talk in this way too. You know, like you can, you can match someone's energy. You can match someone's level. I get it. I mean, if, if you're in a serious board meeting or in
Starting point is 00:41:15 court, you were the judge, you're going to act way different than with your buddies, but you don't usually change your accent. It is odd. That one's unusual. It's odd. It's super odd. I mean, I think... I mean, if all of a sudden I was like, G'day, mate. How you guys doing?
Starting point is 00:41:33 Well, you already talk weird, so who cares? Throw another shrimp on the barbie. You could say whatever you want, and it's all going to sound the same because you're weird. I don't just become Australian-ish or whatever I just tried to do there. It's like in America, you sound funny funny when you go back to UK you sound funny
Starting point is 00:41:47 You just you don't belong anywhere. Well, I'm just funny That gets you through huh? Hmm Yeah, I think it's it's a very calculated thing that she's done. I Just sway boats for sure But I don't know it like it maybe it's pretty harmless. It's annoying but I don't know, like it, maybe it's pretty harmless. It's annoying, but I don't know that it's like, it's not a criminal act. I know. And I'm not saying it lost the election either, but it, it wasn't good. This is just like one of many of like the kind of odd things. I mean, do we even need to talk about Waltz?
Starting point is 00:42:26 And I think we covered it, you know, before in the Dave Smith episode, but you know, what an oddball that guy was, making a bunch of... BetMGM operates pursuant to an operating agreement with iGaming Ontario. Statements about Tiananmen Square where he never was, military combat missions that he didn't ever do, that he was a head coach when he was not. It's just like a bunch of things that are like, what are you doing, dude? You haven't even started being a real politician and you just, you were just
Starting point is 00:43:53 already making up a bunch of nonsense. Like integrity was just getting lost left and right. No, it's not a good start is what I'm saying. Like she could have picked many people That were just known for having really high levels of integrity and then it's like it's start there at least like please help us out and Then ultimately yeah, she lost a lot of momentum from that. She kind of peaked and faded After I would say that
Starting point is 00:44:25 speech the first one we played and then there we go. It just kind of like went downhill from there. Yeah. I mean the conversation evolved out of politics into like some pretty off the wall things. I mean, starting with UFC fighters like chitting themselves during fights. Uh-huh. Yeah, it's a wacky moment. I did not realize that that was a thing. I mean, like, it's disgusting. It's happened. I can't imagine.
Starting point is 00:44:54 Yeah, but think about it. So this is what people don't think about. I'm surprised it doesn't happen more. They have to make the weigh-ins. So they do this like unbelievable weight cuts, which often involve fasting, dehydration, saunas. Then they rehydrate really quickly and there's rules to that. You can't use IVs.
Starting point is 00:45:16 You can't do X, Y, and Z. And then often they will then eat a bunch of food and you know, all of those things together are massive potential for a ton of diarrhea. It's true. Just going on a fast and then eating a lot and ending your fast can really upset your stomach. Even when you fast, you have to like ease back into it and you don't even do it that seriously.
Starting point is 00:45:43 Yeah, of course. I mean, I don't really know if these guys are all necessarily fasting hard. Um, when they're doing their weight cuts, I mean, they, they have a very controlled diet, I would say, um, you know, and maybe they are very careful about what they start to consume afterwards. I don't really know much of their protocols, but generally when you're messing with the body at quite extreme levels, which is what they're doing, trying to get weight down as low as they can to weigh in
Starting point is 00:46:15 and then get it back up as fast as they can so that they're heavy for the fight, it messes with your systems. And yeah, you're going to poop your pants. So strange. I mean, how would they know? Okay. You said they can't have IVs.
Starting point is 00:46:29 How would they know? How do they know that they've had an IV? Cause that's just like, I think it's some sort of hydration test. I think that there's like a limit to how much, how hydrated you can get in so many hours from just drinking liquids. I'm going toids that up because that seems like well it makes sense It would work because it would then have to go through your stomach and all the rest of the things You know to to like get into your bloodstream
Starting point is 00:46:58 Whereas when you're doing IVs is straight in there so yes there's, there must be a test for it. Um, but yeah, some poop in the pants stuff. They got into what else were they talking about? Like off the wall Airbnb? Like there's one like, well, you can stay in whale bones. Well, I think he was just given like an off, like, you know, the mind of Theo von just like so raw and real, like this, you know, thought vomit, basically von just like so raw and real, like just, you know, thought vomit, basically anything that comes to his mind and he's talking about like,
Starting point is 00:47:28 you were saying a whale carcass in Mexico, like I don't think that's- Actually, actually in, I think Iceland, they have like whale bone little huts that are super old, cause there's not a bunch of trees there. So they've used like the rib cages of whales as like the roofing for little huts. Well, they're super old now.
Starting point is 00:47:56 It's not like dripping flesh. Just, it looks like white wood. And they've made like little huts near the beaches. It's too much. But you know, they looked up some real ones and it's like you could say in like a flying saucer. Yeah, dope. And like a giant potato or something.
Starting point is 00:48:17 Like in Idaho maybe, I don't know. It's crazy. Just humor yourself and Google craziest Airbnbs. But Joe's like, if I wasn't married, I would have the craziest house. And I feel like that's like most men. Like most men with millions and millions of dollars. They were just having the most ridiculous, like bachelor pads that aren't even bachelor pads. They're just like, you have to climb up a ladder to get into it.
Starting point is 00:48:43 And it's just an entire video arcade. It's just like a tree house filled with video games. So it sounds amazing. It's like, there's not even like a spoon. You just have to eat, like drink everything. Just use your hands. Yeah. It evolved very quickly.
Starting point is 00:49:02 The conversation was quite humorous. Look, Theo is always fantastic. I mean, you know, I know he's dealing with some stuff. So, Theo, if you're listening, we just want to say you're a national treasure. You bring so much joy and laughter into the world. And your podcasts are fantastic. So take care of yourself. Move your ass down to Austin, listen to Daddy Joe.
Starting point is 00:49:29 And move down there. I just had the best idea. I just had the best idea. Go on. Dating show, The Avant Bachelors style. He actually did a show kind of like that, where I don't know, there's an episode with Bobby Lee, where he's like, was it Bobby Lee?
Starting point is 00:49:45 He's trying to get him laid. He's like helping him go on dates or something, Theo is. So yeah, I don't really know the ins and outs of that show. I'll put a link in the bio. But. I just think he'd be so fun. Like he's so funny and he's so entertaining. Yeah, but he said he gets really nervous around women.
Starting point is 00:50:05 So maybe he's not like a player. He doesn't do that well. Tell me more about the mind of a man trying to impress a woman. Is that like a big... Is that like something that really is like a thing? What do you mean? Like it doesn't just like... You just don't naturally or like you have it or you don't.
Starting point is 00:50:23 It's like you think a lot about it or is it if you don't have it, you have to think a lot about like impressing women. I do. I don't really know what your question is, but like anything you can practice it. Like no little kid that just starts to have a crush on girls knows how to do anything with that. It takes time practice. You're supposed to do most of it in high school. And some people get out of high school and even out of college and into their 40s and they still can't approach women.
Starting point is 00:50:49 And that just is how it is. It's just, it's a difficult thing. Gotta learn it. All right, well. But Theo, legend. We love you to death and feel better. And that is it for this week. We appreciate you guys as always.
Starting point is 00:51:04 And yeah, we'll talk to you later. Cheers y'all.
