Starting point is 00:00:00 You are listening to the Joe Rogan Experience Review podcast. We find little nuggets treasures, valuable pieces of gold in the Joe Rogan Experience podcast and pass them on to you, perhaps expand a little bit. We are not associated with Joe Rogan in any way. Think of us as the talking dead to Joe's walking dead. Enjoy the show. Welcome back guys to another episode of the JRE review once again sorry for last week's fucking sound Quality fucker we got that all fixed though. Thank God and this week's gonna sound a lot better Guess this week we got Kermit Patterson David Smith Adam Alter Tony was on there too, but like I said last week, often I'll miss one. The Tony won on miss. It's very funny, very good to listen to, but again, you know, when it's
Starting point is 00:00:52 a comedian, they're kind of harder to review, you know, there's not a lot of kind of depth to the information, but it's still very entertaining. Anyway, let's get on with the show. Podcast. You're listening to the Joe Rogan Experience Review. What a bizarre thing we've created. Now with your host, Adam Thorn. Might either be the worst podcast with a best one or the best one. One, go.
Starting point is 00:01:19 Enjoy the show. All right, guys. I'm back here with Garrett today to do this review. How you doing Garrett? Very good, very good. How you doing? Yeah, not too bad man. Not too bad. Weather is nice in Bozeman. How's it in L.A.? Oh, 75 in sunny, baby. Beautiful. Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful, beautiful. I like the sound of that. Amiss that. Yeah, it's...
Starting point is 00:01:43 There are things about L.A.A. mess sometimes. All right, let's get started. 1562 is the Dave Smith podcast. He's obviously, startup comedian. He's from the legions of Skanks, one of those guys. I was surprised actually, like, the depth of his knowledge politically.
Starting point is 00:02:04 Right. You know, the Legion of Skanks guys are very funny, but I felt like they were kind of numbscalls, but I guess I was just judging ahead of myself. I've seen some of those guys on the Killtony when I've gone to watch the Killtony show, up at the comedy store, and they are very funny but yeah I didn't realize that they had such a knowledge of everything. They open up
Starting point is 00:02:34 talking about LA and you know we did too but since you're there I mean they're talking about how they might be raising their taxes, the in-state tax, 16%. I heard that. Have you heard anything about this? I mean, again, it's always comes back to what are you listening to and who's telling you, because it's hard to decipher through the bullshit.
Starting point is 00:02:56 But from what I understand, I have heard that. I don't know what to believe anymore, to be honest with you. So until something goes down, but I did hear that 16%, I didned he made that comment. I don't even pay my agent that much I was that coming to think it like wow Jesus Christ that's the sales tax right is that what they're talking about yeah, like that's insane completely insane dude It's when I lived in Chicago. I remember it getting to 10% and I think at that time it was the highest in the country. This is like 2010, and I couldn't believe it. So that's like, what?
Starting point is 00:03:30 That's every 10 bucks is an extra dollar for the government. Is that accurate? That is what it would be. Yeah, so now 10 bucks would be $1.60. But it's not just a government. That's just the in-state. That's just for California. Wow.
Starting point is 00:03:46 Yeah. I don't know. I mean they even talked about how in New York City 1% of the people pay 43% of the taxes. Like why the fuck does that 1% live in New York? Why don't they work remotely? Yeah, that's a good question. I don't know the answer to that. That's crazy.
Starting point is 00:04:08 I just feel like now with COVID, you can work wherever you want. Why would you do that? Right. Especially in those jobs, you'd imagine that's the case. I don't know, man. I guess the New York's supposed to be the pinnacle of,
Starting point is 00:04:21 I don't know, I guess, I don't know if it's success or whatever, whatever it is about New York, I've actually not spent, I haven't spent any time there, so I don't really have a frame of reference, but I always know that that's... Yeah. Well, there's a lot of money to be made. Right. I mean, the date that I went on yesterday, but she's living out here near Boseman and she works in New York, she works at like TV station and
Starting point is 00:04:52 It's been just remote working for like most of this year sub letter place out because she's like you can't do anything there Like nothing. There's no bars to go to oh can't go to russia. I was really I was gonna ask you about that when I buddy that owns a bar in New Mexico Just told me they'd stop doing Any kind of dine in it's all take out now again. I Feel what what's the restaurant called you know? I Could tell you I'd have to look at my phone, but oh, it doesn't matter. I'll tell you later I just want to I might know it. I bet you would. It's actually pretty good. It's it's good spot for sure Is it in albuquerque? Yeah, it's the name of two. It's the name of his kids. I just can't think of it, but anyway
Starting point is 00:05:31 Oh Well, that's the thing. Dude stuff's closing down. I mean today in Bozeman. I was driving around you can't go in the any of the stores anymore I went to go to Starbucks you couldn't go inside. were like, no, they just closed it. I'm like, are you fucking kidding me? I did this is so insane. Like I thought I feel like there's gonna be an uprising Personally, like just because I felt it in my own body like I will not be held down anymore Like and I hate this. Well, that's a lot of what Dave Smith was saying on the podcast the same sort of thing It's like I mean, it's like what do we believe? It's like there's gonna be a people I think I mean just because and I personally wouldn't do anything but I have that thought in my mind
Starting point is 00:06:11 And if I can have that thought Then I imagine people that are in much dire straits than myself or having that thought Well, you know what if it's organized well And people are coming out and it's kind of peaceful and they're just saying, you know what we're gonna do? We're gonna do this. We're gonna go to these places or we're just gonna go to work and we're gonna let, you know, maybe the cops just, what are they gonna do? What are they gonna do? Just arrest all the restaurants. I mean the cops don't want to do that either. Think about it. They're not like pro COVID fucking warriors. Like they don't want to do that.
Starting point is 00:06:43 What's be honest, it's like there's people just like us. I'm sure they want to do the same shit we want to do and to be up to like trying to use that is going to be a fucking. It just seems like a lot of fuckery with all the politics. Oh my god, that's all I know. That's like 125,000%. Whenever he said, that's a huge percentage. Whenever he said, I can't call which podcast podcast it was but he said once you saw how
Starting point is 00:07:07 politically driven it was as far as like willing to fucking shut down the country to try and win a political thing it's like bro I'm not listening to anything you tell me I'm living my life from here on out like fuck off. Yeah well I mean look Joe talked it a lot on this podcast, just saying that the way California was closed down is like, it's such crazy bullshit. Right. You know, there's like very little logic to it, and we see that. It's so little of it really is related to health from what I can tell. Yeah, I'm, and it's definitely a move of like control and that fucking governor is just doing
Starting point is 00:07:45 my dog I don't know like I it's People want his head Like legit. Yeah, I mean I can't believe he's getting away with it Like even all the mess of like saying this is bullshit. I mean like what are you doing? Right, I did hear that he had some judgment against him for Abusing power and not being able to do anything.
Starting point is 00:08:06 I don't know again. It's whatever headline you're reading on Instagram and it probably is dictated by what you're watching too. So they feed you a bunch of shit. Did you see that show? It definitely just seems like a power play though. And that's a lot of what they would talk about is like these power plays. And yeah, it's forcing people out like Joe left, you know, other people have left. I mean, they don't like what's going on there.
Starting point is 00:08:30 And, you know, who the hell can we trust? I mean, they were talking about the Clintons, how when they, I think, left the White House, they had a couple of million. And now that was not worth it. Now they're worth hundreds, just because of speeches go well No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no truth like that's why your politician you make 200 grand and then you get out and you're fucking worth hundreds of millions of dollars you were fucking passing laws for big corporations and now it'll get you on the kick back on the back end. So then what do you think this what's his name Gary Newsom Gavin Gavin what the fuck is that's the that's our that's our guy right. Yeah what's what do you think his motivation is then like he's doing this and then when he gets out of power Somehow he's like who is he making happy by doing that's what is the plan?
Starting point is 00:09:32 That's a great question. I mean, I guess we won't know until it's over because who is he? I think he just wants to get really initially wanted to get reelected I imagine I don't know how that works, but well that shit's not gonna work Yeah, that's probably in the past now. But I mean, in hindsight, like, shutting down small businesses, but leaving open like my amp brought that thought process up.
Starting point is 00:09:52 I didn't really think about it, but you leave open target in Costco and all these other places where tons of people go, but those are big corporations, yet you shut down the mom and pop shops, and they go out of business, and where's the fucking logic behind that? It's like get the fuck out of here like I just don't know you don't know that no government should be working for the people the people don't
Starting point is 00:10:14 work for the fucking government. Maybe that's it maybe you hit it on the head like they're all getting kickbacks from fucking Walmart and Jeff Bezos. Something something like dude he's he's like doubled his wealth. Yeah, that is coded. There's like where else could anyone get anything from? You know what I mean? Fucking buy it from Amazon. Right.
Starting point is 00:10:32 I mean, he capitalized, I mean, yeah. I don't know the right answer to that, but it seems that a lot of that's going on. There's got, there has to be something more to the story. To just buy in is so scary now. It's like you just seem like a bunch of, I feel like a fucking sheep in hindsight looking back on it now, but what are you gonna do?
Starting point is 00:10:51 It's like you wanted, you wanted nobody knew how to feel. But I don't really know how to feel now either. It's like 200,000 more people. Maybe it was just because we become, or me personally has become desensitized to the idea that, I mean, there got to be some personal responsibility to take care of yourself and when you can't fucking go outside you're hurting yourself in the end I don't know how we haven't learned this. It's like this
Starting point is 00:11:14 whole deal about like you're doing it yourself a favor. It's like your body needs to be outside doing things in order to build up an immunity to these fucking diseases and blocking down and staying put is not to mention the fucking suicide rates up to 200%. Like, what are we doing? Like, what are we doing? Gander Press. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:11:33 You know what I mean? And it's like, I just don't need it. Like, I'll take my chances. I am sorry to say that. Like, if I die tomorrow, because this is more impactful, like, they talked about war, right? Like, politicians would like us to get more impactful like they talked about war right like Politicians were like it was to get into wars they talked about that and they're like even when we went into a rack Like it's fucked up. We're still there costs lots of money
Starting point is 00:11:52 Dude other than your fat like if you had family of friends that went over there right it didn't change your ton of shit Change nothing like personally you didn't really notice this Changes fucking everything dude without a question without a question and like we're walking around with an extra bit of clothing right on everywhere like you leave the house without your bandana or your mask like you can't go anywhere it's like more important than our phones now. How is that even a fucking rational thought process from real? Like, I don't get it. Like, get out of here. I mean, I'll do it.
Starting point is 00:12:30 If it makes you feel better, I got it. But to think that you wear a bandana or a fucking mask and all life is going to be OK. It's such a fucking dog shit theory, in my opinion, as well. I don't know what to say about it, but it's just so stupid. Well, I think they've already proved it right. There's only like so masks that really do anything. I'm not doing anything about that. Yeah, they let you they let you put like underwear over your head if you like to and go into a store. You're making the conscious decision to fucking show that you care. It's like what are we brainwashed or what the fuck are we doing?
Starting point is 00:13:04 Like I I just don't get it and it's like people are so passionate about it too on one where or the other it's like dude give me a fucking break control what you can control. Oh dude yeah they're either hate it and think it's this massive conspiracy or they're like how dare you not wear a mask. I'm like can we just be in the middle with this? I'm not, I'm not one way or another but at the same time it's like to be passionate about something that seems trivial. I really think it is trivial at the end of the day. But I mean, who am I? Anyway. Well, you're not a doctor. That's for sure. Let's make that clear. That's all the views. Don't listen to his medical knowledge. This
Starting point is 00:13:41 is very please go all truth, all truth that I'm not a Joe talks a little bit about online voting like why why if we can bank online that is and can be my friend's very interesting myself like in the other guy doesn't it seem the fucking make sense like I I didn't bother voting I mean I just couldn't I just moved I didn't register like I did you know it's whatever but I get lazy with it. But it feels like an app, and you just put it in your phone. I feel like, can't they figure that out?
Starting point is 00:14:12 I mean, I would assume so, like, I mean, that's a good reference. They do the banking online, you do everything online. Why couldn't you do that? But there also is like consistent fucking fraudulent shit going online as well, you know what I mean? True, true, but I, you know, I just feel like somebody, like people listening to Joe's podcasts, like obviously fucking millions. So some nerd out there, some super smart nerd is going to be like, actually, good idea. This is how we could sell it out.
Starting point is 00:14:39 I mean, I would think that that had to have already been thought through. I wonder what the dilemma was, but that couldn't be the fucking first people to think of that. Well, Joe being so no, not at all. But I mean, maybe, maybe it takes like, you know, another look at something like that, because what, whatever just happened was a bunch of fuckery. Dude, my aunt, like everyone, like the president still hasn't said that he's not going to be president anymore. And it was fucking weeks ago. didn't still hasn't said that he's not going to be president anymore. And it was fucking weeks ago.
Starting point is 00:15:06 My aunt, whenever I was in New Hampshire, she was like, guaranteed Donald Trump wins. And I was like, guaranteed. And so whatever, which I've been back here in LA now for over a couple of months, like two and a half months, and I said, I texted her, how's that guarantee working out for you? You should have put a hundred bucks on that. She texted me back and she, with all legitimacy within like a minute, she goes, it's not
Starting point is 00:15:29 over yet. And I go, do you really believe that? And she goes, yep. And I was like, people are really believing this. Like, what the fuck are we talking about? Like, you really believe that. I was kind of blown away. Right.
Starting point is 00:15:41 So, I don't really, that's right. I mean, what does that mean? Is there going to be, I mean, before, mean before right the writing was done by the left right the Looting the writing mostly done by the I don't think they're going to do it now is it going to be done by the right is they're going to be writing The question from the guys that have guns. I don't believe so I don't know why I don't get that feeling I just I'm not not that one smarter than the other but like it feeling, I just, I'm not that one smarter than the other, but like it, I don't know, man, it's, that's a good question, but I don't, for me, I just doesn't feel that way. What do you think?
Starting point is 00:16:11 I mean, you're in Bozeman. There's the good old boys I imagine up there. Maybe I'm being. Yeah, you know, I haven't quite gauged. Like, it's definitely not Nashville. Nashville was, was everyone's Trump, and they had strong opinions from what I could tell and uh... being up here it's it's a bit more of a mixed bag for sure but it's way more 50-50 than uh... than LA was obviously I mean look these things are kind of obvious but but it's
Starting point is 00:16:39 it people aren't quite as outspoken here and And I mean, the mask conformity is better up here. Like, I don't see people storming into places without masks on. You know, people are kind of playing the game and getting on with it. I mean, yeah, I'd say that's pretty much the sentiment. I don't really get too much out of my bubble here in Venice. But it's pretty Venice, but it's pretty much, it's kind of understood now, I guess, that's the thing. I mean, whenever I, like I said, when I work in this restaurant and this bar, we just allow people in, but it's
Starting point is 00:17:13 like pretty, pretty important they were in their masks, like, we don't allow people in with our masks. So yeah, I really don't know if that's it They they talked a lot about how like there's no excuse for the rioting and the looting Like even if you're behind the reasons why and I mean after seeing it in person like I was in Chicago The first day of the riots and like in the middle of it. I got stuck on state street and was watching and happened right and It was it was unbelievable. I mean I just couldn't believe what was happening and that the cops just stood there not doing anything. Like, I guess they were told not to or there were just too many people.
Starting point is 00:17:52 They didn't know where to start. But I mean, it doesn't matter what happens in a society. This cannot be the fucking response. Not at all. Every time. Not every time, not one time. Not any time. I mean, we're fucking be-
Starting point is 00:18:03 Not, no. We're be on that Like if we're gonna act like an enlightened society and not be like primitive fucking eights we're gonna have to fucking acknowledge that that's type of behavior is not fucking Progressive thought processes. I mean what are you thinking? Well, what gets me is like okay, you're doing it for that reason. Yet the government tells us, right, we can't what's the reason we're not going to have money. We can't do anything.
Starting point is 00:18:29 Well, you know, like black lives matter and then the killing and what's the, I mean, still that those two things don't correlate to me. Like, you know what I mean, it's funny that that's become like you can say that was such you said it like it was a fucking fact in a book somewhere or something. It's like, what is it? Well, but that was that was such you said it like it was a fucking fact in a book somewhere or something it's like what is it? Well, that was that was like the cat list. No, I get it. But the people coming out and stealing sneakers were not really given a shit. That's what I'm saying. Obviously. So it's like how do those two things coincide? Is my point? It's not one. Yeah, they just saw an
Starting point is 00:19:02 opportunity. But then for them in a a way why aren't people getting fucking crazy about You know that this whole lockdown like nobody's banding together and saying no more lockdown That's what I'm saying right now. That's what I'm saying stop it now And if they try and do that again is what I'm saying like that's kind of where my heads at like I feel like there needs to be some sort of revolution or something because To think that you're gonna tell people that you're basically imprisoning people to their own homes. That's ultimately what it comes down to. And I don't know if people are like, that's a selfish way of thinking.
Starting point is 00:19:31 It's like, I don't know what the fuck to tell you. Like, I didn't ask for 38 years what to be doing to all the sudden something happened. And then now you decide after me living this life as long as I have all the sudden, you're gonna tell me what the fuck I'm doing. Like maybe that's just fucking American privilege or something and I'm all on that. But whatever, that's what I fucking feel like.
Starting point is 00:19:54 So I don't know what to tell you. Well, you know, the something that is said a lot about in America, you know, I mean, I'm English. I noticed that when I got here, they talk about freedom. Right. What's freedom if it's not like, you know, I'm English, I noticed that when I got here, they talk about freedom. Right. And what's freedom, if it's not like, you know, having the ability to go to work, go do things, and you know, potentially make silly choices if you want to.
Starting point is 00:20:14 Right. Like, hey, I want to do this, and it's not illegal. There's my life too, and I'm also allowed to say this. Right. It's a very American thing. So in a sense, this is kind of un-American, even? Even though it's a good point of health. That's a good point. My buddy lives in Florida and he said that it's just fucking everything's open like nothing's going on I'm just like Something about that sounds awesome
Starting point is 00:20:35 Like because I don't think that's gonna change. That's the point. That's the thing man It's like if you're gonna allow different counties to do different things People are gonna travel and it's gonna spread. It's just gonna do it. That's what's gonna happen. There's no way around it. I don't know what to say about it. I'd say.
Starting point is 00:20:52 Well, they are getting spikes just about everywhere. I mean, the spikes now in L.A. are real bad. I've heard. I mean, I know you haven't heard, but I think they're gonna close that shit down again. I've heard that same thing. I mean, I know a bunch of people that just got tested there recently.
Starting point is 00:21:08 I don't know if they are like what they're getting tested. Like maybe they think they have it or what's happening, but I don't know. Yeah, those testing centers are full. So fuck. I don't know what to say. The last big thing they talked about is like obviously, Biden is probably the president now, and student loan forgives him.
Starting point is 00:21:28 He's talked about it. They're proposing it. They're even thinking he can do it just with legislation, like, from the president. Like, I don't know what they call executive order, I think. So it doesn't even have to go to Congress. He can just sign away some student debt. I don't know about you, man, but that sounds fucking good. I'll take some. You can sign away some student that I don't know about you man, but that sounds fucking good I'll take some you can sign away what?
Starting point is 00:21:49 This some student that student debt student loan debt. Oh student loan debt. Oh, fuck and did that that would be huge I'd be cool with that. Why not like what's I mean dude? I think of this proved anything. It's like there was some money laying around like or I mean, dude, I think of this proved anything. It's like there was some money laying around. Like, or, I mean, I know they were just printing the money. I don't know what the fuck to believe, but either way, you figure they're putting trillions of dollars into fucking wars that mean nothing to keep businesses alive and like make those fucking, the military complex fucking thrive.
Starting point is 00:22:23 It's like, you can just shift that I mean I'm trivializing and obviously like I know what the fuck I'm talking about but it seems like if they can have that they have that much money to do all that shit they can hand out a few fucking G's and not bury themselves I think it would put people in a really good position right if they could knock off like maybe not pay it all off but like if you could do like 50 grand. That would be three, you know, that would be $330 off the top every month that I don't have to clear clear for my nut, you know what I mean. Exactly. I mean it would be huge. That would be enormous. So. Right. Next up we got the 1564 Adam Atler. That. And now you said you listened to this book, right?
Starting point is 00:23:07 I did, I did. The audio. All right, so the book was on technical, a technological addiction. Correct. And what did you think about it? What was like your take? I didn't listen to it yet, but not just the podcast.
Starting point is 00:23:21 What did you think of the book? The book was really good. I mean, it was super informative. It kind of, it touched on a variety of like social networks and video games and he told a bunch of stories about The dopamine that comes from my Instagram and it's like he recognizes it. He's like I studied it, but it's like It's weird recognizing it and still being immersed in it. That's what I kind of took away from it It's like you you you know what he's saying is right yet. We still fucking do it It's like how are we am I literally in the way that Joe made mention to in the podcast He's like one of the best things is this four hours right to set my phone down
Starting point is 00:23:57 He's like otherwise. I'm dumb addicted to doing it just like anywhere else So you go to the store you look at your phone you go to the fucking bagel shop I try to make conscious effort to go to the freaking bagel shop the other day and not have my phone. And then I went there and it took an exorbitant long time while they were there. And I was like, fuck it, it's a dissident. You're quiet, like not huge deal,
Starting point is 00:24:17 but at the same time, like I was like, this is somewhat challenging. So yeah, it's like we don't even know how to just sit in a waiting room any more without looking on what he brought up a good point whenever he's talking about looking at his hands is like what if you were just looking at your hands because we're always looking at our phones because it's like I was like what if you did just look at your hand and try and like look at the line I mean he didn't mention this but I was like what if you were like looking at the lines of your hands
Starting point is 00:24:44 and like all the intricacies of your hands all the time? Instead, we're just watching a fucking bullshit feed that's telling us nonsense and just based on all the things we'd look up, I looked up couches the other day, and now my fucking every feed is just full of couches on everything I look at in all the ads. It's like, this is a fucking insane place. We're at right now.
Starting point is 00:25:06 Well, he made an interesting point where he was like Joe said that maybe looking your hammer to be even better because it wouldn't depress you. That's what I was thinking. You wouldn't look at it and be like oh people are doing more fun shit than me or I didn't get a bunch of likes on my post or nobody looked at my story and I don't have a lot of followers. I have taken satisfaction in the fact that I think I was telling you you've probably seen it.
Starting point is 00:25:30 I've just been posting this monotonous workout. I've done it like every single day for today was day 68 and there's just like a thing like if I just get up and it sounds so fucking trivial but I'm like if one person saw it and they like it, I'm like it was worth it. That's what I always think to myself. So I'm like I Don't need that dopamine and even if it's been notness like I feel like I'm building my own little I just don't like watching people talk about shit that and that they're not doing so it's like that's what I'm doing the shit That I'm talking about and here's fucking evidence, you know what I mean? That's that's and not that I need to prove anything to anybody else
Starting point is 00:26:04 That's all you go at the end of the day and I recognize that, but if it helps get one person motivated, then I fucking did my job, that's how I feel. Well, dude, I say it's like many things, and it, and just how Joe says, like, if you post it, and then that's it, like, you're not worried about how many people look at it or how many people like it, you just do it because you want to. That's what I, then fuck it, dude. That's how I've been's it. Like, you're not worried about how many people look at it or how many people like it. You just do it because you want to. That's what I, then fuck it, do it. That's how I've been doing it. Then it's for you.
Starting point is 00:26:29 It's not for like, really like other people or whoever just wants to do it. No, I think that it's lack's personality. That's the thing. And everybody wants to see people being authentic. And I do too. Like, I like watching people talk in the camera. And whether or not I'm just like,
Starting point is 00:26:43 who the fuck is this and what do they have to say? You're fucking think you're important thing to say, but regardless, I'm fucking watching it. And I take away a lot of stuff from it. Like I was thinking about that today. Like there was a few, like I'll just hear certain things even like sentences. Like I, you think about Goggins or you think about that
Starting point is 00:26:59 and the ball one. There are certain points in my life where I'm just like, I heard that sentence where I saw that thing and now I'm Fucking inclined to make that part of my daily practice now and so it's like That's when I feel like social media and these things can be fucking beneficial We just need to find a fucking happy medium, so it's not always like I Don't know. I think the idea of like putting your phone down like a dinner and making just conscious decisions on it Which I need to be better about too. It's like it's just the
Starting point is 00:27:28 total default mechanism right? Like you're not doing something pick up your phone it's like the default on everything and I mean I don't know if it's a lot of the time we're trying I mean like he says if you're using technology like watch YouTube videos you get better or learn or read I mean there's a lot of things that are beneficial from it. And it's just like, what are we doing? And hopefully we're spending our time on it, making it valuable, as opposed to just reading fucking bullshit
Starting point is 00:27:54 memes, or I don't know, same time laughter is good. They just have to make a new app, right? That somehow figures out how much you enjoyed the interaction that day on social media and then it registers that. Yeah. And if it turns out that by the end of the week it actually made you a little bit more depressed. Right. Then you know you got to start looking at shit. I don't think that I do like to be honest with you. My my feed is my feed is kind of what I try and talk about I think a lot of it like it's all like motivational working out truck and Tony Robbins S-type stuff, so it's like it kind of holds me to that
Starting point is 00:28:35 Accountability thought process at least that's how I look at it. I don't know if that's accurate Yeah, or a bunch of hot chicks show it around There's some hot chicks feathered through there. I won't lie or a bunch of hot chicks showing their ass. There's some hot chicks feathered through there, I won't lie. If you have ever been addicted to video games, like how Joe got that T1 line put in his house way back on a previous podcast a long time ago, it was like a thousand dollars a month he paid.
Starting point is 00:28:58 Like obviously Joe was a baller, but a thousand bucks a month. Like, we're talking like 15 years ago, he did this. And it was just so he could just crush this game. Yeah, that's fucking crazy. They may, yeah, the short answer to that is no, I've never been that, I think the only addiction that has come from and I'm trying to,
Starting point is 00:29:21 they make mention of it too. Like he was like, if I wear my work fucking whoop watcher, whatever, and I go run a mile, and I say I'm just gonna go for a job. Even whenever he started that guy started talking, I'm like, we're just on different pages, because he's like, I just wanna go for a friendly jog, and the back of my head, for some reason I always just have
Starting point is 00:29:39 like the goggins, jocom mentality, I just like feed my mind with that stuff too. I'm just like, motherfucker, I'm not doing stuff halfway. Like there's just no halfway in it. And it's like, he's like, I can't just go for a jog. I'm like, I wouldn't just do it just to do it. Like I'm doing something because it's hard and I want to feel the fucking benefit. And I want to enjoy the time after. Like, I was thinking that too. It's like, nothing tastes better after you fucking worked hard at something But nothing nothing feels better like you can just enjoy life a little bit more whenever you push yourself. So it's like
Starting point is 00:30:12 I don't know they were talking about those things about how people Needing to get steps and I'm like if people get addicted to having steps. That's a great fucking addiction Like I don't know what to say. Yeah, I didn't get I didn't get his Like get out of here, you know, he was totally against like I have a whoops Well, and I think it's really useful. I don't it doesn't force me to do things I just like to be like oh did I sleep good or am I like rested? Do I need a chill he kind of like tells you you recovery? He backtracked a bit on it and said that he's kind of reevaluated his thought process on that
Starting point is 00:30:46 To his credit. He's like some technology is good man for sure. I Wanted practice that is that sleep thing. How beneficial is that do you know? Do you notice that? I pay attention to it. Yeah, I mean my sleep recently has been garbage And I look at things like your REM sleep, which is rapid eye movement, like when you're sleeping, I mean when you're dreaming. And that one's an important part of it. Like there's also deep sleep and like regular light sleep,
Starting point is 00:31:14 but deep sleep's important because I think that's when your brain like kind of doesn't shut down, but isn't doing a lot and kind of detoxifies. Then your REM sleep, which is your dreaming, probably is like repositioning your thoughts of the day and helping you kind of create some solutions, I don't know, I mean, but if you're not getting a lot of REM sleep, which I haven't been, you know, it kind of does, it kind of starts fucking up your days. It's not so much that I feel tired, because I'm actually in bed long enough to get some sleep,
Starting point is 00:31:48 but you're just a bit foggy, and it does kind of feel like the same day. You're like, you know, you have those nights of sleep where you know you were out cold. Like you needed that sleep, and you wake up, and you're like, oh, this is is I feel like a brand new person like completely rested that's an um yeah for sure I love that and honestly I use it for Jiu Jitsu if my recovery is really low like in the red you know then I I just feel like oh I need to chill like I'm not I'm not going to do like
Starting point is 00:32:24 really stren a shit today. Whereas usually I would just push through. I'd be like, fuck it, I'm pushing through. I've started recently deciding, I'm like, I don't think that's a good idea. I'm gonna chill. So I kind of use it for that. I think it's good.
Starting point is 00:32:39 I mean, I like the, I like the little setup of it. Do you hear about the sandbox place that Joe was talking about that virtue reality now that's in LA, right? Yeah, I've actually I don't know if I've done the one he talked about but I've done one that was fucking insane It was a Star Wars one. Did I tell you about that? No, would you do that out was on the problem in Santa Monica? Yeah, I think it was only like a pop-up business Like it I don't know that they were like a brick and mortar I think they just like rented it kind of for the month or two. I don't know I don't know all the details But it was a cool fucking set up and I will tell you what dude it was fucking intense
Starting point is 00:33:16 Like we went in there me and a couple guys and there was an extra gun There was like you're supposed to grab one gun and I grab two guns. I was fucking the Terminator. And they're big ass guns too. And you're walking around and you're wearing this vest and it's so clear. It's insane. It's like you're in. It was like I was in fucking space. And I had to tip toe this line. I don't know dude. It was crazy. Stars all around me. It was insane. I felt like I was there was crazy. It stars all around me like it was it was it was insane like I felt like I was there and then when they started going down that road and it's like that whenever Joe was like made the analogy of like technology is just like a fucking herd of bulls running towards the fucking edge
Starting point is 00:33:58 of the edge of the edge of the cliff and we're trying to stand there with our hands out to stop it. It's like that's kind of how it looks. It's like there's no stopping it and it's coming. So it's like we better make some fucking rational decisions now about where we're gonna draw the lines. Or at least, like, I think that's what this guy Adam is talking about. He's like, it's more of a concern of where we're going. Because if it just immerses us and then we never want to leave, because now it's the greatest thing or the next generation of kids that don't really socialize right?
Starting point is 00:34:29 I just like plugged in and they're like this is better than real life. That's fucking scary shit. Hmm, they were that could be I definitely want to try it. I think Christmas when I get out I'm gonna go do the sandbox. Well, I thought I was like, I'm not like my attention spans pretty low when it comes to like video games. Like I can play anything for fucking 15, 20 minutes, but I am not the guy that can sit there for fucking hours. But this, I mean, the 30 minutes went by like it was fucking two minutes.
Starting point is 00:34:57 It was that cool. Like I was just like, holy shit, it's already over. That was so much fun. So I'm like, if I can, Well, it has that physical aspect. Yeah, it was a bit more exciting. Oh my God, dude, it was like over that was so much fun. So I'm like, like, well, it has that physical aspect. Yeah It was a bit more exciting. Oh my god. Dude, it was like we were at fucking war. That was like live paintball with fucking That didn't hurt. I don't know how to describe it. It was insane Dude, that's sweet. I'm definitely gonna try it for sure
Starting point is 00:35:19 It's it's funny this podcast comes and in all these trying to do is warn us about It's funny this podcast comes and in all these trying to do is warn us about Technology and all it's made me do is like want to try different technologies That's I mean that I think you I think you fucked up, right? That is that is true. I was watching the other day the you ever watch that show It's always sunny and so they'll love that show. I haven't watched the great show Great great show and I love that show cuz Mac on that show I it who Rob's the creator of it I used to change it so for me it's like it's it's fucking cool to see that but there was an episode where they were all playing an online game if you see that one I think so give me a
Starting point is 00:35:58 give me more tell me more well they they all get into it Charlie ends up like like in real life, like fucking over other people that play different characters, so he can destroy their village. They're just all super into it. And it starts to just take over everyone's life. And I thought, what perfect timing with this podcast that I just happened to watch that one. And I'm like, this is a great example of like how crazy People can get because they gave that story of that football player that was playing world of warcraft Dude how depressing was that that poor fucker put on all that weight and drop that school
Starting point is 00:36:36 I mean the weight's one thing we're going bald from the fucking thing That's another thing. It's like holy shit, bro But he bounced back and then rehab and then bounce back again again That's what he said so fucking shot out to that guy, but that's crazy to think when he fucking route like potentially some people need Rehearsing stuff. Yeah, that's crazy. It's like fucking heroin. I guess I don't know Yeah, I don't know. I do do it. It's funny because I remember there are some guys are sweet mates that are fucking in my call at ASU It were like they were just I don't know they weren't really putting on weight because I don't know They were just fucking little nerds, but they were ordering pizzas and just not leaving their room all day Every day playing fucking games. I remember two. I had to get a cell phone whenever fucking Napster this will age me
Starting point is 00:37:22 You remember Napster Yeah, yeah, yeah, Napster this will age me when you remember Napster Yeah, yeah, yeah, Napster Yeah, and my fuck I'll never forget my fucking roommate in college was had like songs queued up for like two weeks And I was like dude I would make friends in college and just none of them would call me for like the first three four weeks living in the dorm So I was like what the fuck is going on? And I went and looked at the computer and it was when it was dial up He had songs queued up for two weeks, so nobody could fucking call us because it used to be hooked up to the
Starting point is 00:37:46 fuck. Oh geez. I was like fuck. So that's when I went and got the Nokia fucking snake phone and everything fucking history after that. What was that like 2000? I'd say 2001 I graduated high school in 2000 probably so 2000 2001. Yeah, all right. Yeah, same same year. I did that Yeah, I remember that I remember earlier same with porn you'd wait like fucking three hours to just wait for shit Grossest homemade porn like man. This is amazing Dude it was a huge jump forward though from like stealing your Friends parents VHS and then smuggling it back and we're winding it to the exact place and it's all scrambled Right, you had to pick the ones we've come up. We've come a long way from Barry and Pono magazines in the woods
Starting point is 00:38:40 I add to that to that to that comment. I have not watched porn since fucking June 8th. I don't know why I remember the day. I was up on scared. My buddy's house and I was like, I'm not going to do this for a long time. So we get addicted or what? I just felt like I was I don't know that I'm ready for a girl. I've been seeing this girl too. So that kind of had something.
Starting point is 00:39:04 I don't know. Nothing to do with it because it was after the fact. But I was like, I don't know that I'm ready for a girl. I've been seeing this girl too. That's so that kind of had something I don't know nothing to do with it because it was after the fact But I was like I don't know that I'm never gonna be able to have like a super healthy relationship If I can always like I can I just turn to this you know if you keep watching me that said It's just like makes me desensitize a lot of time I'm like I don't need to meet chicks or I don't need to go out and like develop relationships. I can just fucking Bus this nut and everything will be peaceful after that like Well, I look man. I think that's to Adam's point to it's like if you really anything like that I mean that's that's a reflection of technology. It's like it's probably good to take a break from it
Starting point is 00:39:40 Some shit every now and again, especially if it's taking up a lot of your time I you know and that and that one's obviously a slippery slope because there's too many downcathacos. Right, right. Like, ooh, let's check that out. I don't love a simulator. It's like cocaine. It's like, it's kind of like cocaine. You never feel good like after doing it. You know what I mean? But it seems like a great idea at the time. It does. It definitely does. And you and they're like God I'm a fucking savage Yeah, well look this one went on a little longer than expected I think we're gonna skip the current pattern someone
Starting point is 00:40:12 If you're like into history and fucking fossils and shit check that one out. It's kind of interesting I I didn't Good get like a lot out of it But you learn like how fossils and shit made which I thought was pretty interesting Totally I heard a mate and hey if you got if you got three hours to kill like anything throw that one down, but But the really for the week the funniest and most interesting one was the Tony one of course Do you have anything you want to add from the Tony one the monkey conversation dude? I just I love I love his timing on everything. He's fucking
Starting point is 00:40:46 I that was like watching stand-up comedy just the and I love watching him interact I don't know. It's awesome dude those two are fucking hilarious. I was just sitting together The frugious laugh out loud like I there was fun. I found myself laughing out loud on a handful of times Very nice. Well, that's it for the week guys.
