Now, I feel like, you know, as a parent, you have these decisions to make how much of the stuff you hold on to of your kids, you know, as they're going through school and things like that.
Oh, absolutely.
We've got books and books of like, you know, when they were six years old, I'm like, no one, no one.
And his, in the future generations of this family, are ever going to go back and flick through your school books?
No.
No.
From when you're seven years old.
And my mom kept a lot of stuff.
She doesn't like throwing stuff up.
But now and again, she'll come up and she'll bring me stuff back.
And she'll be yours now.
Most of it, I'm like, oh, we can get rid of it.
And she said, no, no, no, no.
And then she takes it back to Northland.
But I did keep a couple of things.
She bought some stuff back a couple of days ago that I kind of went through.
She bought a box back and I've been sitting there for a while and I'll go through some of this.
Now, poor Jenny.
Now, can we say, you're like, my mum's a hoarder and, you know, I'm really not looking forward to having to deal with that, you know, later in life.
And then the poor Jenny's coming down.
She's trying to just do it in little shipments.
I'll try to get on and I'll get rid of it.
It's because she hears him saying that.
She's like, well, I'll help me out.
I need to get rid of that.
He doesn't call me, so I'll go down and visit him.
Can drive from North into your house too?
And you're like, no.
But I saw something in the box of my old stuff,
and it probably summed up me.
And I was like, oh, this probably sums up me.
Now, I do love my sport.
You guys know, I talked about sport.
And I played a lot of sport growing up, you know,
with cricket and rugby and stuff.
But I found my old rugby jersey that was in the box that from school,
from high school.
And I was like, oh, yeah.
And what I'd done, I'd given it a fashion makeover to.
Oh, my God.
Yeah.
The rugby top.
Not huge.
Not hugely done over.
It's called bedazzled.
Yeah, that's something else.
And that's the whole other area.
They hadn't done than that.
So bedazzled the rugby top.
And I hadn't even put bedazzled on it.
I haven't bedazzled it.
But I had a like, because I had always, back in the day,
used to play long rugby tops.
That was the fashion.
They were popular.
And I didn't really want one of those.
So I cut mine short sleeves.
And then I'd noticed that I'd, and I remember doing this,
the night before a rugby game, I got an old yellow t-shirt.
And I cut the little round the sleeves off that.
And so it had a nice little, nice little,
edging so it matched the collars.
There was yellow collars, yellow around the thing, and then blue.
And everyone at school was like, wow, you've got a different bespoke.
I made this the night before.
So you redesigned the teams.
Yeah, yeah.
And I was the only one that had it was one of one.
But I was thinking about it as I went through this box going,
what other rugby player was doing that the night before a game,
mum's sewing machine?
That was me.
To get a bespoke rugby jersey.
I'm like, what a weird kid I was.
Others were training, stretching, getting carbs.
You should have done more stuff to do with the action.
rugby rather than redesigning
the rugby top.
Were you playing?
Yeah, I was playing.
Yeah, I was playing.
But I decided that I wanted a nice little yellow
sort of edging around the biceps at the match of colours.
You know what to make this rugby jersey cuter?
If I just...
When you were running down the sideline.
They were going, geez, look at those little yellow bits there.
No one else has got those little yellow bits.
So, yeah, I was like, what was I doing?
You know, when you have those moments, you're like, why did I do that?
I love that.
Probably sums me up a lot.
Makes sense later in life with your merch addiction now, doesn't it?
And costumes and all sorts of stuff.
Probably makes a lot more sense why the rugby career didn't really take off too much.
The costume career.
Flourishing.
Edited rugby shirts or Warriors jerseys later in life.
Now it's probably why I'm so passionate about all the few ones.
I'm like, oh, this is nice.
Like the edging on that.
That's matched.
That's nice.
