Starting point is 00:00:00 The Hits, the Jono and Ben podcast. She's a massive pop artist and entertainer, Delta Goodrum. She rose to fame in Australia. Starring on Neighbours, the TV show for many years. She's had many hit singles and tours. She's a judge on the Australian Voice and she has a new fragrance. It's called Power. It's available right now from Chemist Warehouse. And we love catching up with Delta.
Starting point is 00:00:22 She joins us right now. Delta, nice to talk to you. Nice to talk to you. How is everything over there? We're doing all right. We're about time you came back and visited, surely. I know. I've been trying. It wasn't the lack of not trying.
Starting point is 00:00:37 I put pressure on you like my dad talking to me. When was the last time you came down and visited? You got a new fragrance. It's called Power. It's available at Chemist Warehouse. It represents power and confidence. Delta, we lack confidence, the two of us, Jono and myself. How do we get more of your confidence?
Starting point is 00:00:55 The whole idea is just it's actually the fragrance isn't an overpowering fragrance or anything. It's really more talking about that you have the power to make anything happen in your day. And it was a song on my album. It was the last song I wrote on the last album. It's cool that you've got a song called Power. I mean, it'd be a shame if you had a song called, I just played Indoor Netball and I'm a bit whiffy. You know, it's good for a fragrance. That would be a long
Starting point is 00:01:17 name. I'm not sure that would be as hefty, but I did play goal attack when I was growing up. Oh, were you goal attack? Oh, shooting, hey, yeah. It was a while ago, when I was growing up. Oh, were you goal attack? Oh, shooting, hey, yeah. It was a while ago, but I was also basketball. I had a lot of sport growing up in Australia. You do outdoor cricket. My brother always had his mates over from school.
Starting point is 00:01:36 Yeah, well, Ben, boys, Ben, who you're talking to here, obsessed with cricket to the point of like, I need him to stop talking about cricket. Yeah, he bans me from talking about it on the show. So now you've given me an opening. It's an opening. You can go for it. Take the ball. No, actually, but you're speaking to your brother. He's a sport. He's an Aussie
Starting point is 00:01:51 rules player, right? Yeah, yeah, yeah. He's retired now, but he played Aussie rules. So I was very proud sister when I get to go and watch him. Oh, that's very cool. But how many neck tattoos has he got? That's the NRL players, isn't it? Definitely not my brother.
Starting point is 00:02:06 Are you kidding me? I don't think that would have passed my mum and dad. There's a pressure on you now. You've got many fragrances at Kimber's Warehouse, but there's pressure on you everywhere you go to smell nice, Delta Goodrum. Yes, it is. It really is.
Starting point is 00:02:17 I take great pride in general, but I do actually wear it every single day, and it would be really silly of me to make a fragrance I didn't want to wear every single day. Well, it's actually the most Googled question. When you type in Delta Goodrum perfume, it's like, what does Delta Goodrum smell like? And now we know. And it's good you've got your basic hygiene standards
Starting point is 00:02:37 as a base level and then the fragrance on top of that. Delta, you're such, you know, you're a superstar all over the world, but particularly in Australia where you've been like a household name since probably like age 15. I was just looking online, you're like, you know, you're a superstar all over the world, but particularly in Australia where you've been like a household name since probably like age 15. I was just looking online and you're like, you come back from the airport and photos of you getting bags off
Starting point is 00:02:51 the baggage carousel. I mean, do you know that people are photographing you when that sort of thing happens? Oh, is there some pictures of me grabbing the bags and stuff? Yeah, you've got like 10, she's got 10 bags between you and your boyfriend. I was like, well, you've got a whole lot of you traveling. I don't know why. Do you know that's all happening at the time? You know, you're getting sort of papped everywhere you go.
Starting point is 00:03:09 I mean, you guys started so young too. Like, I mean, I don't remember the first interview. We all did. But, you know, it's been a part of my life since I was a teenager. I mean, I was only 16 years old when I started. And there's been different eras when it comes to paps. I've always found, like's now everybody's a pap because their phones are there at all times.
Starting point is 00:03:28 Yeah, true. I'm sorry for taking those luggage shots. I just thought I could make a little bit of cash on the side. I knew it. I knew it. I know from New Zealand specifically for luggage shots. She's got 10 bags.
Starting point is 00:03:41 I like your commitment. Well, when I get to New Zealand, I expect you to be there taking pictures of me with my luggage. I'll be doing the luggage count, mate. Don't you worry. Before you go, quickly, Delta Grudrum, you've got your new fragrance at Chemist Warehouse. It's called Power.
Starting point is 00:03:55 And now about a year ago, we did on our show, we did what was called the smell action, where we put people voted, like listeners to the show, voted for the best smells in New Zealand, and then they voted for the number one smell overall. These are the nicest smells. So we thought right now we might play you just a couple of the finalists and see what your thoughts are of who would win.
Starting point is 00:04:14 So this was one of the final rounds. Let's have a listen to this. Bacon cooking versus freshly washed baby. So, yeah, the odour of bacon cooking or the smell of a freshly washed baby. So, yeah, the odour of bacon cooking or the smell of a freshly washed baby. I mean, did that say freshly cooked bacon or a baby? Yeah, the smell of it. You know the new baby smell?
Starting point is 00:04:37 It sounds quite odd to say, but you know how babies just smell incredible? A lot of people voted for that. Yeah, I mean, I'll go the beautiful little babies, of course. Well, listen, Delta Goodrum, if your next perfume is the odour of a freshly washed baby, we expect a 5% cut. Perfect.
Starting point is 00:04:54 Well, we're on to a winner. I think that it could be the Jono Van Delta, you know, combination. Freshly washed baby. Freshly washed baby. You just write a song about it first, and then we can we can turn it into a fragrance
Starting point is 00:05:06 Dowson we love catching up with you you're so awesome we're huge fans and hopefully one day we'll have you back in New Zealand but for now
Starting point is 00:05:11 we'll settle for the amazing fragrance power at the Chemist Warehouse you guys are always the best thank you so much for having me sending lots of love
Starting point is 00:05:19 bye
