The Hits, the Jono and Ben podcast.
It's The Hits, Jono and Ben on your Thursday morning.
Very excited to announce Pink coming to New Zealand,
her summer carnival world tour March next year.
Two gigs, one in Dunedin, one at Eden Park in Auckland.
That's in March. All tickets go on sale Friday next week.
And Pink is on Zoom right now.
This is very exciting. How you doing?
Hi, how you doing?
We're doing all right.
You know, we currently play 27 of
your songs on our radio station including your new single as well uh so please never stop making
music otherwise we're out of a job wow 27 songs i made that many songs if you stop making music i
have to go out there and sell my body to make money it's not a pretty body mate there's not
much market for this body pink
the album's called trustful ironically you probably don't want to trust us with the album
but you've done that and it's awesome and we can't wait we loved hearing it and we can't wait
for the fact that you're i've got the new album but you're coming back to new zealand that's very
exciting i know it's a long ways away but i'll be very well seasoned in my tricks by then i'm stoked
i this is one of my
favorite albums i've ever made and i'm super excited to hear resonate with people and coming
back to new zealand as well you said that we were the nicest people in the world which i think you
know is is an amazing the nicest thing anyone's ever said about new zealand obviously you hadn't
met us but that's that's awesome you must love coming to New Zealand. I do, and Kerry loves it too. It's very hard to get my husband to want to go on tour at this point
because he has his shop here where he builds motorcycles.
Kerry loves it, which makes it fun for me, and the kids love it.
And you and the Canadians are actually the nicest people in the world.
Us and the Canadians?
Well, I tell you what, if we have to kneecap the Canadians for first spot,
we'll do it, mate.
Last time you were here,
Kerry went to some very small
rural motocross event, didn't he?
He did.
He loved it.
I drove up on a dirt bike barefoot.
I was like, yeah, that sounds right.
Well, that's what we wanted to know.
We wanted to know
what does Pink think?
And there were some of the things.
So, yeah, we wanted to hold up some pictures.
Carrie Hart, obviously, doing motocross in New Zealand.
What did you think about that mid-tour when he was like,
hey, I'm going to go do motocross, miss your concert?
It's a wonderful break for both of us.
That's married life right there, right?
I like him happy.
He likes when I'm happy.
I like when he's happy.
And you're happier when you're not together.
Exactly.
What does Pink think of our former Prime Minister, Jacinda Ardern?
You know what I think of Jacinda.
I love Jacinda, and I've spent time with Jacinda,
and she's one of the kindest people in the world, and I love her.
You sent a lovely message after she resigned.
It was lovely.
Yeah, it was kind.
The response was
not as kind but i was being kind yeah well people being what mean to you yes oh really what were
they saying oh that they want me to die slowly you know just things like that oh yeah i'm sorry
about that i didn't think you'd read it hey Hey, Pink, I'm going to share something with you.
Ben, he's a little anxious about asking you this next question.
Now, the back story is he went to the mall and he spent $26 on this item.
It's pun based.
And I just want you to decide whether it was worth the $26.
I've lost confidence in it.
I was shopping with my daughter and I've lost confidence in it. I was shopping with
my daughter and I saw this in the shop and I went, oh, I could say this to Pink and she rolled her
eyes and he rolled her eyes and now I've lost confidence in doing it. So just bear in mind,
it was this worth $26. Now I'll hand it over. Yeah. Pink. Okay. Here you go. You have so many
fans around the world, particularly in New Zealand. But what do you want to say to this pink fan that I have in the studio?
It's a pink fan.
It's literally a fan blowing air on us.
It should not have cost $26.
I know, that's what I thought.
How old is your daughter?
I've got one 11, one 13.
Yeah, the 11-year-old went, and I went, and I still bought it,
and I did it and i regret
everything about doing that to you pink i'm so sorry it's okay pink's gonna stick around so we're
gonna throw some more questions to her next jono you want to know uh what's her favorite song to
perform and what's the one song she's like i've had enough of it the hits the jono and ben podcast
now uh you know obviously obviously you have kids.
Taking kids on tour, is it a nightmare?
Oh, absolutely.
It's a bad idea.
I love it, though.
Do they get their own room backstage?
My daughter actually works quick change for the dancers.
Oh, really? And we were actually discussing minimum wage this morning.
And my son, like, I used to have like whiskey
in my dressing room and now I have ball pits it must be hard to balance you know
touring life and and being a mom it's impossible but I love it I love I love
it and and I like having a touring family and days off are great and we get
to see the world and they're good kids and yeah we have fun we're
goofy we just roller skate in the house and it's fun and it's great when carrie goes to south
canterbury and does motocross yes do you do you have your kids still do they still think you're
cool my six-year-old said to my best friend the other day, he goes, do you know that my mom is the best singer in the whole world?
And she goes, I do.
And he goes, do you know that she performs to a hundred people?
That's a lot of people.
We're going to work on that math.
Hopefully you get more tickets when you go to New Zealand.
What's the craziest thing that's ever happened at a Pink concert?
Because I read someone gave birth.
Oh, I'm sure tons of people have given birth.
I had to break up a fight between two moms
because the four-year-old was screaming and crying on the ground.
Oh, really?
At the show.
At the show, yep.
I had this poor girl sitting on my lap
until the moms could get it together and wipe up the blood.
I told the crowd, I told Philly, I'm like,
and you guys wonder why I'm like this.
This is where I'm from.
My wife, Amanda, she dines out on the fact that when you came to New Zealand,
she loves you. It got quiet at one moment.
She yelled out, I love you, Pink. And you said, I love you too.
And now every time we hear a song, she's like, Pink, she loves me.
She tells the story all the time. I'm like, mate, she doesn't even know who you are.
It felt like an obligation from you where you had to say, I love you back, doesn't it?
Because you've done over 70 songs,
and I imagine they're like children, but also like children.
Everyone's got a favorite and a least favorite.
Do you have one favorite song out of the whole catalog?
The whole thing?
Yeah, big question.
No, I can't.
I don't know.
What did I even write?
I will always love Get the Party Started.
It's not my favorite, but I will always love it.
I never get sick of it.
Is there one you do get sick of?
Oh, yeah. Don't let me get me.
You and your hand. Raise your glass.
Oh, that's a lot.
Most of your back catalog.
So, Pink, very enthusiastic about these upcoming shows.
No, Pink, you are so awesome.
As we said before, we love you here in New Zealand.
We can't wait for you to come back.
We love the new album, Trustful, and the singles as well.
So hopefully we'll hang out, do some motocross or something
when you're in New Zealand.
Do it.
Barefoot moto.
Let's do it.
Pink.
See you, mate.
How cool is she?
She's awesome, eh?
Yeah, bloody good.
Yeah, no good.
We've got a double pass.
It might be weird to say something bad about her right now.
We've got a double pass to Pink.
She's coming to New Zealand for the Summer Carnival World Tour
in March next year.
And we want to give this away to someone who's, like,
New Zealand's biggest Pink fan.
Yeah, mega fan.
So how hard does your fandom go for Pink?
Like, do we have to get a restraining order?
Well, yeah.
We're looking at that sort of stuff.
Yeah, like, well, what does pink mean to you?
Maybe a song that you're wearing, mate.
Whatever, 4487, New Zealand's biggest pink fan,
and we will give that away over the next couple of days.
A double pass, one of the first double passes
to Pink's world tour coming to New Zealand next year
on The Hits.
