What to Watch with Megan.
We like to find out each week what we should be watching.
Whether it's streaming, whether it's 3D air television, Megan Puppis is across it all.
She is indeed. How are ya?
Great. How are you?
You know we're doing well. You've been away sick over the last week.
I feel like you've been sick for three years.
It's like the winter blues, right?
If there's something to get, the kids will get it and then you get it.
But the good thing is
you've been at home
and watching stuff
I've watched so much stuff
telling us what we need
to watch
because usually
we put this burden
on you week to week
and when you've got
your usual work
commitments as well
and work gets in the way
of my tally watching
and when did we
punish you with this
as well
I'm sorry
I know
and I was like
we don't just want
one show
we want two shows and you were like why is that I mean just. I know. And it was like, we don't just want one show, we want two shows.
And you're like, why is that?
I mean, just come.
If you're like, I saw five minutes of something, that's fine too, right?
Yeah, I know.
I end up watching the start of so many shows.
Yeah.
No, but there's some really awesome shows out at the moment,
and one that everyone is talking about is the weekend's new show, The Idol.
You're the American dream.
Rags to riches.
Trailers to mansions.
You are Jocelyn.
Just be you.
So The Weeknd, obviously the pop stars,
and it's Lily-Rose Depp.
Johnny Depp's daughter.
She's the pop star.
Abel, I don't know how to say his last name.
The Weeknd.
That's how you know him.
He created it with the guy who created Euphoria.
Right.
So it's very risque.
But he is like a cult leader, self-help kind of guru that kind of takes on the pop star.
So she signs up to his cult?
Yes.
Right.
Well, there's only two episodes out.
So I'm guessing that, yes.
He's luring her in in So it's kind of a
Commentary on Scientology
Yeah
It's a commentary
On so many things
And they've admitted
It's a little bit
To do with Britney
And like
Oh really
You know
Pop stars
Get involved
In bad situations
The first episode
It's had such bad reviews
It's got like
20 something percent Of Rotten Tomatoes.
Oh, is that all?
I thought it was meant to be really good.
I love it.
But it's so risque, and I can't even go into details
about some of the stuff in the first episode.
Also, disclaimer, I really like The Weeknd.
Right.
Okay, right.
He can do no wrong for me.
We demand a balanced opinion when you come here.
You can't be playing favorites. Does it get a bit
spicy in parts in terms of
the first episode?
How can I say this?
I saw a lot of skin.
A lot of skin. I don't
imagine Johnny Depp's watching this.
And you grew up in a naturist home. You've seen
as much skin as anyone can see.
It's a lot of skin for you.
It is a lot of skin.
I think it's good. It's a bit different different If you liked Euphoria, it's a similar vein
But I think
There's a lot of controversy before
A show or a movie comes out
When it comes out, everyone wants to jump on the bandwagon
And be like, yeah, it is
Rubbish
Whereas Squid Game kind of just came into the ether
Didn't it, and just took off that way
There was no expectation
No we didn't know
What we were getting into there
And we were like
Whoa
Don't know why I plucked
Squid Games out of it
No but then you're right
It was huge
And then we kind of
Forgot about it
Real comparison
Yeah
Maybe it was the time
Of the
Sign of the times
We were in
With lockdown
Yeah
Yeah
Feeling very angry
See Squid Games 2
Will be very hard
To live up to
Yeah
Yeah When is that happening I think it's meant To be happening isn't it Well it'll give us Another chance feeling very angry. See, Squid Games 2 will be very hard to live up to. Yeah.
When is that happening?
I think it's meant to be happening, isn't it?
Well, it'll give us another chance.
If we played our own Squid Games,
we would phone up fish and chip shops and we had to guess the price of a single piece of calamari.
Didn't we?
I don't think we ever got it correct in our Squid Game.
No one died in our version, that's for sure.
Although the critics hated it.
Oh, Megan, love your work.
Thank you very much.
Thanks.
