Starting point is 00:00:00 This is the Jono, Ben and Megan podcast, thanks to HelloFresh, your home advantage for delicious midweek dinners that everyone will love. I mentioned before the Met Gala was on in New York, all the A-list celebrities in all their fancy outfits. Lorde was there, I reckon her outfit was one of the best. This was very cool actually. Yeah, Tom Brown. She had a top on but didn't have any like back straps or anything, I was like, jeez,
Starting point is 00:00:21 the old double-side gaffer's working her... You need to know the logistics. Yeah. Bit of tape, bit of strong tape. Yeah. R was like, jeez, the old double-sided gaffer's working. You need to know the logistics. Bit of tape, bit of strong tape. Yeah. Rihanna, pregnant? Rihanna's pregnant with her third child. It was all go. And from New York now, Nicole, who hosts a breakfast radio show over there on Sirius
Starting point is 00:00:36 XFM on Zoom now. You're looking a little flustered, Nicole. Are you juggling kids? Yeah. Yeah. My son all of a sudden decided he had to eat immediately. Cannot wait a moment. I was like, you act like I starve you.
Starting point is 00:00:51 All you do is eat. What's the go-to for your kids in New York City? What do they love? Chicken nuggets. Yeah, chicken nuggets. Like normal stuff. Chicken nuggets, mac and cheese. That's universal.
Starting point is 00:01:05 Yeah, I think it is. Do you get fish fingers over there? Fingers of fish. Yeah. We call them fish sticks. You actually like them? Oh, love me a fish finger. He does.
Starting point is 00:01:17 Well, I don't. Jono does, yeah. Oh, my God. My mom used to make me eat those because it was, like, healthy. Try not to think too hard about what parts of the fish are inside the finger. And then the crumb comes off and it's kind of gray. Yes. I always say that a fish stick is like the hot dog of the sea.
Starting point is 00:01:37 Yeah, it probably is. It's the hot dog of the sea. It's a great way to summarize it. It leaves it, when you put it on the grill, it leaves like this very suspicious greasy residue on there. It's like great way to summarize it It leaves it When you put it on the grill It leaves like this very Suspicious greasy residue On there It's like almost tar You've got to scrape it off
Starting point is 00:01:50 Yeah 48% 48% fish Not bad That's good Even half fish What is the rest of it? I'm pretty happy with that percentage
Starting point is 00:01:58 I know Yeah Big day The Met Gala Are you into the Met Gala? Does it take over the city? I mean, yeah. I mean, there's a lot of people,
Starting point is 00:02:08 I feel like a lot of girls getting together with their charcuterie boards and their wine to watch these absurd outfits that I wouldn't even call real dresses. I mean, it's basically Halloween. You basically just described Megan's perfect afternoon. I know, I was like, I feel sane. Oh, don't get me wrong.
Starting point is 00:02:26 I do it. I mean, but it's just, I don't know. I feel like this year I'm kind of like a little bit over it. It's gotten so over saturated and so over the top. And I don't need to see Kim Kardashian's like not be able to breathe because she's got a corset that's sucking her in and no organs have any room anymore i mean i'm just like kind of over it so can you explain to me what what is it all about
Starting point is 00:02:50 like i see the photos i see the fancy celebrities but what is it actually about because i read this morning it's like a fundraiser as well is that right yes for them for the metropolitan museum of art uh one of the many museums in new york. It's basically a fundraiser for something that doesn't need to be funded. Very rich people. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, it's really a reason for famous people and rich people to get together and dress up and make it like a theme each year
Starting point is 00:03:17 and get together and talk about how rich they are. I mean, it's really, to me, it's almost obnoxious. But it is. It's kind of fun. Yeah, because if you walk, to me, it's almost obnoxious, but it's kind of fun. Yeah, because if you walk, you know, say I'm Ariana Grande and my designer slapped a bloody microwave on top of my head. Do you have to stay in costume for the whole night or you get another change inside, a pair of track pants or something? Some of them do change.
Starting point is 00:03:41 Kim Kardashian changed out of the Marilyn Monroe dress, but that's because she had to give it back. Wait, didn't Tyler wear a dress made of sand? It was sand, which doesn't seem like... She had to be carried up the stairs
Starting point is 00:03:56 because she literally couldn't move. Do you know Ben's got a whole garage full of costumes? Did you know that, Nicole? You do? Yeah, wouldn't you? What kind of stuff are you into? Everything. You name it. If you want to dress up like a bathtub or a road cone
Starting point is 00:04:11 or, you know, like a giant Christmas tree, I've got it all. Oh, you just have little, like a costume. I mean, do you have like animal costumes? Oh, you have plenty of animal costumes. You have dogs, cows. Yeah, I think all sorts. You have like a...
Starting point is 00:04:23 Twitter bird, all sorts. Yeah. Do you have, yeah, you have like a chicken. have like a... Twitter bird, all sorts, yeah. Do you have, yeah, you have like a chicken? Like, does your wife ever ask you to like dress up? I mean, it's not for my wife and I. Mate, keep it classy, Nicole, come on. How did this collection start? Well, purely, much like the Met Gala,
Starting point is 00:04:43 I've collaborated my collection over many years. Purely been making a whole lot of, you know know bad tv shows and radio bits and social media bits over the years just held on to costumes and now it takes my whole garage my wife can't park the car in there and that's a real bug bear couple this with the fish finger information at the top of this. How's our cred points with you now, Nicole? I mean, they're still up there. I just have a lot more questions that we'll have to say for offline. Okay, we'll get this. We'll do that
Starting point is 00:05:14 offline. That's fine. I need, can I get like a picture of the garage at some point? I feel like I need to see it. You think we're joking. He has hundreds of costumes. Hundreds. It's not, they're all in boxes and stuff, but they are there, yeah. Oh, my gosh. The P. Diddy trial is taking place in America right now.
Starting point is 00:05:33 They're selecting the jury, and they're also throwing out a whole lot of names of famous people for witnesses, right, Megan? Yeah, so they have to list the witnesses, and these are people that know something, not necessarily have done anything wrong, but... Who have we got on there at the moment? Kid Cudi, you mentioned before, who's a rapper, whose car mysteriously blew up when he was dating Diddy's ex. Another, an actor, Michael B. Jordan, not the Michael Jordan basketballer.
Starting point is 00:05:56 Austin Powers, is he in there? Mike Myers, yeah, he's on the list. And Kanye West has been named on the list too. Wow, Jesus, was it Diddy's song sung Mo Money Mo Problems, didn't we? We're watching those problems play out in real time right now and Nicole is with us from New York. Is Diddy done for? I don't know.
Starting point is 00:06:13 There's like whisperings, not even whisperings, but like a lot of people that are following this case and looking into what they're going to be doing and how they're going to be fighting this. And there are some people who feel like he might be able to get off, and that's a freaking nightmare. Really? Because, you know, obviously the court of law just looks at the facts.
Starting point is 00:06:32 There's a lot of morally questionable things going on around this whole Diddy situation, but that clouds a lot of what's actually going to take place in the courtroom, right? Yeah. We all think he's done for. I don't think we know a lot of the federal case. i think that's why everyone's kind of waiting to see but there's a lot of uh sort of criminal and what's the other one it's a criminal case and it's a civil civil case civil civil
Starting point is 00:06:57 civil case so we know a lot of the civil cases but we don't know what the feds are going to bring to him but they are his prosecutor his um defense is arguing uh the people consented to these freak offs yeah right there so it's like some sexual assault trafficking um oh i mean it's just yeah racketeering conspiracy sex trafficking there's just i mean it's a mess it's gonna be crazy but, he was like a regular on those carpets every year. Because they're selecting the jury now. And Megan, you were saying that obviously they try and have a jury that they have not heard of this person. They don't know the situation.
Starting point is 00:07:35 You've got to be impartial. That's going to be impossible. Impossible. That's the one thing. You have to live under a rock not to know this man. I just feel like, I don't know, that's like the one part I don't know how to live under a rock not to know this man i just feel like i don't know that's like the one part i don't know how they're gonna pull off i am pleased that they were able to get cassie who was obviously his girlfriend for many years and they had settled a deal you know
Starting point is 00:07:57 a while ago outside of the courts and i'm assuming signed an nda to which i asked my co-host this morning that does that mean she's not allowed to go on the stand? And they were like, his NDA doesn't mean anything once he's been charged and put in jail for some reason. Oh, really? Yeah. So far on the witness stand, we know that rapper Kid Cudi's been called up there, comedian Mike Myers, actor Michael B. Jordan, Kanye.
Starting point is 00:08:22 Are there whisperings or murmurings of any other people who will be called to the stand to give evidence. I have told you guys week after week, I think I feel like Justin Bieber. Can they force somebody on the stand? Like, I don't know the law. Subpoenaed. They can?
Starting point is 00:08:37 So the feds can subpoena someone to go on the witness stand. And that's basically forcing them because they're the feds have you seen that happen sorry to dog there but i always see that in movies and stuff where people come up and they're like and they hand papers over and they're like you got served in america and stuff like that have you ever seen that happen yes it happened to us recently because it's something i i don't think happens in new zealand like well a lot like this not as dramatic as well somebody somebody was trying to to serve taylor swift with papers actually recently and they said they had to drop the suit because they couldn't
Starting point is 00:09:10 find her because you do actually physically have to see them and hand them the papers um i we had a lot of problems in our apartment building and you just don't mess with me i'm just i just was like this is unacceptable this This is not okay. There was like a lot of lying and back and forth and we pay this much money for this. And then I said, okay, if you're not going to do your part, then I'm not going to do my part, which is paying the rent. So I told my husband not to pay the rent for like a month or two, which, which is not legal, but I don't care. I was so angry with them. And then all of a sudden, like a month or like, I think a month ago, someone knocked on our door and I was like, we didn. And then all of a sudden, like a month ago,
Starting point is 00:09:46 someone knocked on our door and I was like, we didn't order anything. Open the door. And he's like, you've been served. And they started a whole thing against us. Who's the person going, you've been served? What's their job? I think that's somebody's actual job.
Starting point is 00:09:56 I don't know what the name of it is, but it's an actual profession, I think. Great gig. Great gig. Look at Megan's looking it up. I don't know. Aren't they like clerks sometimes in a law office? Like the interns. And what do you do if you go, no, no, no, not for me,
Starting point is 00:10:08 and shut the door? You know, like is that better? I don't know. I should have. I don't know. You should have been going, you've been served. No, I haven't. Bang, shut the door.
Starting point is 00:10:17 Yeah. What? Really? I didn't think fast enough. So at the end of the day, are you having to pay rent? Well, he was like, he kept saying, you're acting like you're like being so tough. Like they're
Starting point is 00:10:30 going to still charge you at the end of this lease. Like they're not, we're just getting fees because you want to be like, you know, big and bad. But it just made me feel a little bit better. Oh, good on you. Good luck with the ongoing rental issues. Yes, yes. thank you thank you
Starting point is 00:10:46 you're going to call your time as always of course i'll see you guys next week
