This is the Jono Ben and Megan podcast thanks to Hello Fresh.
Your home advantage for delicious midweek dinners that everyone will love.
Oh, good morning.
It is 604.
We have been awake for 20 hours now playing handball throughout the night here at Eden Park.
And I don't know if you can tell by my voice.
Yeah.
What have you done with Ben?
We traded Ben in for Vin Diesel.
He does.
He swallowed Vin Diesel.
I'm not mad about it.
I feel like I hit puberty at the same time as playing handball for 20 hours.
But we're here.
We're still doing it.
We've raised this.
so far over $300,000, which is incredible.
There's two hours, two hours of this.
Two hours of this.
Yeah, I know.
You're two hours to go, big guy.
I know, we're doing it.
We're doing it for kids, Ken, and that's what we need to keep remembering.
Those kids that are going to school, you know, today, hungry, without jackets, without
shoes, and that's why we're trying to raise as much money as we can.
So if you can help text kids to 933, make an instant $3 donation.
And if you're a vocal specialist as well, can you donate towards replacement of Ben's voice box?
That'd be nice.
Yeah, that'd be nice.
It's about family, guys.
I live my life a quarter mile at the time.
I prefer it, to be honest.
It sounds a lot better.
John O'Ben and Megan, the podcast.
The Hits.
It's so cool.
I imagine what it's like when you live in Queenstown.
Yeah.
Become accustomed to your surroundings.
But then you do look up every now and then.
You're like, well, this is the National State.
The Garden of Eden, the Fortress.
It's pretty special, actually.
The old house.
And it started very special as well because we had Jayah.
She's 15 years old.
along. She sung the anthem here before at Eden Park and she got her handball underway with the national anthem.
No good, eh.
15 years old.
More of that voice on the radio and lesser Benz today.
Yeah, less of me, I know.
Megan, you were quite emotional when she was singing.
Yeah, she made me cry a little bit.
Because I just think we were just in Eden Park and hearing the anthem.
It was just, yeah, I don't know, the gravity of what we were about to do at me.
Well, I tell you what will make you cry.
They were recording us singing the gambler.
Yeah, so we wanted to request.
And, Jono, you decided to have a request last night.
They let us on the radio.
Maybe not a good idea.
after being quite sleep deprived
and we decided to sing the gambler
and I think this actually played out.
Oh, this is my name.
There we go.
There we go.
We've got no one.
No one's a phone.
Oh, this is on the radio.
I'm so sorry.
Is anyone singing or is it just me?
We're sitting on at the table.
There'll be time enough for counting.
That bit sounded good.
Only the three of us had headphones on to hear the music, so we were quite loud and into it and trying to get a crowd to join in that. Couldn't hear the music.
Is anyone singing?
Shut up, Jono.
I get so argumentated it, vegan.
Anyway.
I couldn't hear if they were singing or not.
Now, the wonderful Nick Staunner too, the big boss of Eden Park has come down again.
More home baking. He's bought more cupcakes, Nick. Thank you once again.
Absolute pleasure. It's just an amazing effort.
Amazing effort.
Sorry, I'm interviewing him why he's playing Hamble.
It is so, too.
It's cool of it.
And just encouraging get people to continue to donate.
Oh, good on you, Nick.
Well, thank you for donating your stadium.
Yeah, thank you to you and your team.
They've been incredible looking after us here at Eden Park.
John O'Ben and Megan, the podcast.
The Hats.
933 or get more, go to kidscampbell.org.n.
I know you keep telling me not to be sassy, but I know times are tough.
Here we go.
Here comes from sass.
I know times are tough.
But coffee's like six bucks these days, you know, dudes.
And $3 is half of a cup of coffee.
We just need everyone in New Zealand to text that number and we'll make our target, please.
And as we keep saying, we're not trying to sign you up for anything, it's ongoing.
You know how you see those people and you're like, oh, if only you had an F-Boss machine,
I could just give a one-off payment and they're like, we don't do one-off payments.
We do, and it's only $3.
Yeah, and you can give more at kidscabal.org.org.
We've been joined by some amazing people over the last.
last 23 hours, a whole lot of celebrities, including Ganesh Raj from Eat Well for Less.
Yeah, Ganesh Raj loves to eat well for less and also loves to get Massage for less as well.
One of the big drawcards for Ganesh coming to the event here was there was going to be a masseuse
on site and we discussed it with him before the event had taken place.
This was his prerequisite.
You came out and joined us last time and, you know, he played some handball, got a massage as well
from the Massage table and it helped us raise a lot of money for Kidscan.
My massage personally helped raise a lot of money for kids.
Yeah, you're on that message table for at least 90 minutes.
Yeah, so he was looking forward to the message.
Then when he got here, the first thing he asked was, where's the message?
Yeah, and I felt like we got someone in just for him.
And he did really, geez, Ian, have a listen, he really enjoyed that massage.
Well, I was just discussing how my L4 and L5, you know,
they're my favorite little bits of my spine.
But they don't listen to me sometimes.
And sometimes they're like, no, we're stronger than you think.
Let's lift 140 kilos in a deadlift.
And I'm like, no, Alphan felt, ah!
And then that's when I call someone like this young lady and say,
Fix me.
That's in pre-message.
Now, I haven't heard what we're about to hear now, but this is mid-massage.
I can only imagine.
I can only imagine the cacophony of sounds that we're going to be grieved with.
If you just tuned in to ready right now,
that was the man getting a massage.
All above board, too, by the way, a sports massage.
We must think Britt, who did a lot of massaging.
And actually was amazing.
We all got on there.
She really was.
Yeah.
Well, you're like, I don't need that.
And then as soon as she starts, you know, rubbing your, you're like, oh, my legs are so sore.
Well, you as a proud public anti-massage fan even got in there.
You were there for a while
You got an imprint on your face
I tell you what I did
It was great
It was definitely time
Hey this is the time
This is the time for me to get a massage
Do you think you're gonna start your regime
No probably not
John Oben and Megan
The podcast
We have some wonderful people
Come down and visit us over the last 24 hours
You know
Some of New Zealand's finest athletes
Some of New Zealand's finest celebrities
Actors
Actors
It's been really awesome as well
Social media, Pete
Ruby Tui spray painted our heads
so she's got a red streak of dine
and she got some temporary dying
spray painted our heads
and it looked like we had suffered
some sort of axe attack
Yeah, some sort of bleeding from the brain
or something like that
dribbling down our cheeks
When the physio came she's like
do you know you're bleeding from your head
Are they okay
and really we're not
But one of our favourite people that came down
was the very funny Lee Hart
and he joined us with a wee bit of a reveal
of what happened one time he was at Eden Park
Megan
with wonderful chip peddler
broadcaster and legend Lee Hart
Yeah great to be actually
It's exciting isn't it a lot of people down here
And you can really cut the atmosphere
With a knife
I love you slip into common free mode
He does, he knows
I've been here before many times commentating
Many times I buried a cat over there.
That's the first time I came in at night and, you know.
Wasn't aware of that, but okay, yeah, it's good to know.
Was the stadium aware of that?
No one's aware of it until now, actually.
We miss your mittens.
RIP.
Whenever they score a try in that corner, I always go, you know,
you get a tear, it's a tear behind.
I'm a big fan of your broadcasting career,
but my favorite thing about you is your chips.
I came here earlier and I saw some inferior ones at the snack station there.
What did you bring us in him?
He did. He put a bag of snacker-changing.
What I'm here I was marketing.
I can jump at the bank of someone else's charity.
I'm not bad about it.
And you can invest in Lee's charity, which is his bank account by buying some snack of chaggy.
I see a worthwhile kid's charity.
I jump on there and see what I can hawk out.
Well, listen, thank you for coming to.
and bringing so much needed laugh.
And some chips as well too, it's great.
When the chips is down tonight, we'll remember the actual chips, literally.
You'll need them later on.
You'll need them later on.
But if it looked as good, I'm going to jump on the queue there shortly
and show no where, is, of course,
you know, I'm no stranger to the handball.
You played last year.
The game, the game.
And mind you, you say you're no stranger,
and you came last year and he's like,
what are the rules again?
Yeah, no, but it seems a long time ago.
And, you know, I'd be like, right,
they'd change rules all the time, don't?
It looks much the same
It pretty much is
It's a square with boring
Yeah
Yeah
Love to hear me here
Lear
It's great
Thank you
Thank you
John O'Ben and Megan
The podcast
The Hits
For hours of handball
Is what we're trying to achieve
We're in the final hour
Raising Money for Kids Can
You can hear it in my voice
It's been a long night
But it's been all for a worthy course
You get you a translator
Oh really is in that
It's not that bad.
It's not.
We can understand you.
We love you.
It's like, you know, when you live with a drunk person, you kind of have to just relay everything
they're saying.
Yeah, gotcha, yeah.
But we're with Dame Julie Chapman, who's founded Kids Can.
And thank you so much for partnering up with us.
And Julie, one of Julie's big fears is having a microphone shoved in her face.
She said we go too close with the microphones.
Yeah, it was a bit of a, yeah, it was an experience yesterday.
I feel like Ben might need an intervention though with that voice.
I'm not sure what he's been up to overnight.
Oh, look.
It's just been nothing about handballing and no sleep.
It'll do it to you, Julie.
But it is for a wonderful cause, as we say, kids can.
And where is this money so far over $430,000?
Where is this money going towards?
Yep.
Well, we have got 58 schools and over 70 early childhood centers on our waiting list right now.
So this is going to go a long way to helping us to reach those kids,
providing them with food, clothing, shoes, and how.
products and I have to say that like to have you guys on board again for a
second year is just pretty incredible you just can't buy this kind of support
so you guys and Jordan should be just super proud yeah how did dad who
of course his idea for the handball-a-thon and we've partnered up with him
he's been incredible through this whole thing as well and getting the message
out there about what kids can do and as you said it's just the basics too we
keep saying as well. It's nothing extravagant. It's just the stuff that every kid deserves.
Yeah and look we have got right now 157,000 children in this country that are going without
those basics and that just really impacts their ability to learn and just be like any other
kid. And so for us it's those practical things that mean they can get to school, just learn
and hopefully have a much brighter future
where they're not living in hardship themselves.
Can you also tell us this money being raised?
Everyone's like, is it going to administration?
Where is the money going?
There is no money going to administration.
We're really lucky to have lots of other supporters,
trusts and foundations,
that actually fund those kinds of things for us.
So every cent we raise here
and every cent people donate
is actually going to translate into food.
clothing, shoes, little gumboots, jackets.
Yeah, so we're really pleased to be able to make that commitment.
Dame Julie, thank you so much.
John O'Ben and Megan, the podcast, The Hits.
Yeah, it is, and we've got some, is it Samantha on the phone.
How are you?
Samara.
Sorry.
So I can't get names right when I've been sleeping or not been sleeping.
It's the same level of average broadcasting, but Samara, you've donated.
Um, yeah, we have.
Good on you, mate.
Thank you so much for that.
That's awesome.
You're welcome.
Yeah, what do you want to say?
Please say some stuff because we're too tired to say so.
Yeah, we need some inspirational words.
What's going to get us through this final 15 minutes?
Good luck for handball, I guess.
Yeah, that's good.
I like the I guess too.
Didn't even have the I guess on the end.
I guess, yeah, yeah.
We'll listen to the Hitch every morning.
Oh, thank you.
Don't add I guess on to that.
And you're all right, I guess.
That is so awesome,
thank you so much for supporting us through this.
It really does mean a lot.
I think we've got Karen
joining us right now on 0-800-the-hits.
Good morning, Karen.
Good morning.
Generous donor, Karen, we understand.
Yes, so you're going to have to remind me of the number.
Sorry, I was just listening in the car.
I dismissed the number.
Oh, well, I was initially ringing up for the hits or say
for the alpha clues.
You know what I'm going to do?
I'm going to jump in here and go,
we can take this offline.
Oh, we can take it offline.
You know, there's some stuff you can take offline.
Okay.
You know?
Well, Karen, do you want to take this online or offline?
Karen, do you want to take this online or offline?
I want to congratulate y'all?
Oh, she likes to congratulate us.
Yeah, that's great, Karen.
Yeah, congratulations.
And have a good rest of the last time that you've got best.
And have a good rest at the edge.
Thank you.
That sounds like an online conversation.
That was good.
That was good.
You have me with that.
You have me with that.
John O'Binn and Megan, the podcast.
The hits.
$17,000 to get us to half a million.
Wow, that's it.
We can do it.
It is incredible.
And if you're wondering why we're doing this, why we're putting ourselves through this,
well, it's a small something for such an amazing cause.
This is just some of the work that kids can do.
Every child deserves to have a good education and if there's these material kind of things
that are barriers to that, then it's kind of simple to alleviate them and make sure that they can.
Some kids will walk to school and pick up like an empty chip bag on the way to school
to sort of make out that they've been eating, that there's food in the house and they've been eating,
but it's just an empty bag that they've picked up on the way.
You know, they tend to carry that as shame, you know, they feel embarrassed, they feel shame.
We've got 58 schools that are waiting right now for our support, and over 70s.
early childhood centres.
It's not just about the jackets and stuff,
it's not the shoes too and slack for people
and they don't have food for the day.
Particularly last year,
before the jackets arrived,
I'd be out on the gate before school
and you just see kids cold.
You know, because sometimes they turn out with t-shirts
in the middle of winter and they try and tell me
that they're not cold, but it's really
they're too shy to us and we just give it, we just give it to them.
Children shouldn't have to carry the burden of poverty,
they shouldn't have to carry the burden of poverty,
shouldn't have to carry the burden of, you know, this cost of living.
They're children.
They need to just be children and focus on their learning and their friendships.
Partway through the year, Kids Cam gave every kid at our school a jacket, a warm jacket.
It was the real deal, and the kids just loved them and they're warm.
The support of organisations like Kids Can is so critical to schools like ours.
And the thing is, you know, children don't ask for this, say, they don't ask for them.
for these challenges, but they're in it.
Please get involved, because it really means a lot.
I couldn't even think about what it would be like to lead a school
without the partnership for kids can.
So that is the why.
That's why we have been doing 24 hours of handball here at Eden Park.
Thanks so much for everyone that has supported us as we head towards the end of 24 hours, Megan.
Just nine more minutes to go.
Yeah, look, I don't think children should be a...
the stress and the responsibility of the cost of living, of being in poverty,
it's not something they should even be thinking about.
So if you can help, in the last stretch, we've got $17,000 to go.
If we can make it to half a million dollars, it would be incredible.
Yeah, as you say, it just breaks your heart to hear of kids going to school.
You know, like you heard with empty chip packets, you know, pretending they had food.
Every kid, it's just the basics is all we're talking about trying to give them some food,
a warm jacket and some shoes.
Because not only are they hungry, but they're feeling ashamed of it.
Like, it's heartbreaking.
It's heartbreaking.
I want to put every kid in New Zealand on a level playing field.
So if you can give something, just $3,000 you can text,
Kids to $933 to make an instant $3.3 donation or go to kidscambal.org.
$503,000.
Oh, wow.
$5003.
Oh, wow, that's awesome.
Keep them coming through.
Incredible.
podcast. The heads.
And we're live at Eden Park playing 24 hours of handball.
We're doing it for kids can.
We're doing it with our mate, How to Dad, Jordan Watson.
We started at 8 a.m. yesterday morning and have been playing handball on the side of Eden Park
and in the changing sheds all for the last 24 hours.
It finishes at 8 o'clock this morning, which is just moments away.
How to Dad?
We're handballing and playing at the same time.
How are you feeling?
We're breaking, we're multitasking guys.
It's crazy right now.
I'm feeling super stoked.
I've just seen that leaderboard get up over half a million dollars, New Zealand.
Yeah, crazy.
That's a bloody insane amount.
And, look, I've been harping on about every dollar that counts.
And seriously, it means the world.
Half a million dollars.
Is this plugged in?
Yeah, no, you're all good, mate.
It's wild.
I'm very tired.
I've just looked down and seen a dangling cord from Ben and don't know what ways up.
And I'm like, I'm just talking to myself.
We would have stopped you before now, babes.
Wireless technology has gone ahead, leaves and bounds, my friend.
Now, you're just streaked across Eden Park, too, as we crossed the half a million market.
What I don't factor in is how long the runners actually to one end of the field and back.
I didn't either.
And I've been going on about how stiff and sore I am.
And then when you've got a crowd of like, what do we got here?
A hundred people?
There's a hundred people here and I kind of couldn't stop even though I was fatigued within 20 metres.
But just kept on charging.
Well, yeah, thank you for everything you've done to put this together.
And your huge supporter, kids can.
And thank you, as Jordan said, to everyone that has supported,
everyone that's given something that's donated and helped us get through the last 24 hours,
the people that have come down and joined us, the school kids, the celebrities, it's all been
amazing to have the support. And I think we are counting down, the final 10 seconds of Kids Campbell,
24 hours. Here we go.
Five, four, three, two, one.
That is it.
That is it.
Kids Campbell, 24 hours.
Same words.
Well done, buddy.
My voice is gone.
My legs are shot, but it's for such an amazing cause.
Thank you, New Zealand, for pitching it more money than we raised last time we did it.
It is incredible in the current climate.
$5,000, basically $505,000.
We've pulled in there.
So congratulations, 5005 grand.
I think I said 505 there.
Close enough.
I think they understood.
We're all very delirious right now.
John O'Bennon and Megan, the podcast.
The Hits.
Now we're in for a real treat, a very special performance from, what is that?
That's not the best special performance, that's someone wheeling a trolley.
Oh, I thought that was a special performance.
Yeah, that's like a, like a sizzleaf thing anyway, don't worry about that.
I should have stopped getting so easily distracted.
A very special Kappaha performance from Maniwa High School.
On the water-on-on-on-kir-on-kir-on-kir-on.

By the end of that. Thank you so much.
John O'Bennon and Megan, the podcast.
Now, we were told by
our bosses, the organisers of this event, there's a very special
surprise performance. We honestly have no
idea about it. I thought, is Ben going to be
doing the macarena? What is it going to be
happening? How are we going to round this thing off?
Ladies and gentlemen, Holly Smith has just
walked out. The legend.

20 packs of cigarettes a day.
Yeah, I was sounding very husky today.
That was incredible, Holly.
What an amazing surprise.
John O'Ben and Megan, the podcast.
The Hats.
We've raised over $500,000, $507,000.
It keeps going up.
Every time I look at the big screen here at Eden Park for Kids Can,
which is going to help out so many kids around the country,
just with the basics, which is incredible.
Thank you, New Zealand.
That's an epic effort.
Incredible.
Yeah, and we keep going on about the cost of living.
Tight financial times forever.
And to have that figure.
Phenomenal.
Eclipse last year is huge.
Last year we're like, wow, that's a big bloody fundraiser.
And right now we are standing on Eden Park.
We're on the HelloTurf.
And Ben, how are you containing your excitement?
As the Kiwi League team, who are playing a TSEA Sunday,
are warming up on the other side of the field?
I know.
This is, I mean, you talk about a great day.
We're raising over $500,000, but it could not get any better for me.
Look, they're training, they're stretching.
League team.
To Marty Martin, I can see the beautiful man himself out there as well.
I can kicking the ball around as well.
Do you reckon it's go up for a vox pop?
No, I may I feel like he's, no, I don't.
Well, not from me anyway.
Do you reckon Ben goes up for a vox pop, Megan?
I want him to like me.
I'll go with you.
I'll tell you what, we've gone from not being able to step, two steps on Eden Park,
you know, because we're playing next to the main field.
And if the ball went on there, we weren't allowed to go get it.
And now everyone is on the field for some reason.
Yeah, well, Nick Sautner, the big boss of Eden Park, I think he got swept up in the celebrations.
He's like, everyone on the field!
The groundskeepers over there being like, oh, my, get off my grass.
I was like, what do we do?
Why are we standing here?
We could be standing on the concrete over here.
And we all invaded the pitch.
Like, remember in the 90s when a cricket game would finish and you're a little kid
and you could just run on and steal the wickets and the pads and the, rip the clothes off the players.
The ball, my friend Ben stole the match ball.
They got chased by the umpire, and he jumped the fence.
And we played with that match ball until we lost it in the creek and mastered it.
Yes, it was great.
What was the umpire so precious?
He wanted the ball back, right?
So, yeah.
Surely they got so many balls?
No, it seemed like a bit of a little.
That's a special ball.
Yeah.
John O'Ben and Megan, the podcast.
The hits.
We've raised over $500,000, $507,000.
It keeps going up.
Every time I look at the big screen, here at Eden Park for Kids Can,
which is going to help out so many kids around the country,
just with the basics, which is incredible.
Thank you, New Zealand.
That's an epic effort.
Incredible, yeah, and we keep going on about the cost of living, tight financial times for everyone to have that figure.
Phenomenal, you know, eclips last year is huge.
Last year we're like, wow, that's a big bloody fundraiser.
And right now we are standing on Eden Park, we're on the hello turf.
And Ben, how are you containing your excitement as the Kiwi League team who are playing a TCS Sunday are warming up on the other side of the field?
I know, this is, I mean, you talk about a great, great day.
We're raising over $500,000.
but it could not get any better for me.

I want him to like me.
I'll go with you.
Tell you what, we've gone from not being able to step,
two steps on Eden Park, you know,
because we're playing next to the main field.
And if the ball went on there, we weren't allowed to go get it.
And now everyone is on the field for some reason.

and we played with that match ball until we lost it in the creek and mastered it.
But yes, it was great.
What was the umpire so precious?
He wanted the ball back, mate, so yeah.
Surely they got so many balls?
No, it seemed like a bit of a ball.
That's a special ball.
Yeah.
John O'Ben and Megan, the podcast.
The hits.
Now the dust is settled.
The final figure has been, uh...
Can you not hear me from that far away?
I'm sick.
Oh, really?
Okay.
So, we'll just say, now the dust is settled, mate.
Uh, and the final figure has come in.
final thoughts and feelings
it's the classic
I hate to say it and I'm saying it again
but it's the classic cheesy
every dollar that we keep saying
every dollar counts and it's taken
a massive army of New Zealanders to
kind of band together and
donate and look
what you've ended up doing half a million dollars
I'm hearing that that's going to help over
5,000 Kiwi kids
Megan's done the mess
and for me it always boils down to
look kids can
aren't doing anything super spectacular.
They're helping Kiwi kids with the basics
and these are the things that we can take for granted.
And the basics for a kid that doesn't have them
like food or warm clothing on a cold day
makes such a huge deal.
So it always, for me, what gets me in the heart
is I boil it down to imagine doing that for one kid
just on your street, but on your own
and we've just helped over 5,000 kids.
So hats off to, don't just be, oh Jordan's brainchild,
it's a big team, the kids can team,
the hits team, massive thank you to everyone.
Yeah, good on you mate, well wrapped up.
I'm wrapped up.
I'm too tired to say anything else.
It's pretty incredible.
And you say the money just keeps like,
every time I look at the screen, more money comes in as well.
So it's not too late to text kids to 933, even though we won't be playing any more handball for some time.
Yeah, it's not too late to text or go to kids camball.org.
You've got a fight to catch, haven't you?
The extra money I think is some people are seeing my streaking clip that's going up and going through a while.
Oh yeah, absolutely.
Jordan just streaked.
He said if we got over half a million you'd streak across either.
part but didn't quite factor in the length
of running there and back. It's quite a long run
that's, especially only for hours.
But what I appreciated to in your underpants, you're running
back facing the crowd and you were doing a
really good job of sort of censoring
some precious parts with just one red handball.
Yeah. Fine, it was about six red
handball. Oh, nah, the second half
of the field was still shaded. It was very cold
down there. Yeah, and that one red handball covered up
everything, actually, I thought.
It's probably, you're squinting really, trying to
focus up those eyes.
But apparently, Jono, there's an apology we need to make.
Yeah, I know, I know.
Where are you going?
What are you're wandering to?
I was just, well, the Kiwi League team are practicing kicking goals.
I was just going to kick a ball back to them.
Is that kosher?
Oh, yeah.
I'm sure it is.
Yeah, okay.
I, um.
Wait, he's going to do a kick.
Are you distracting him?
Oh, yeah, don't.
No, just wait for him to kick.
Can you hear this when he kicks it?
See if you can hear it.
We've got the Sunday double header.
Yeah, here, yeah, in Park.
I think they were doing a great special on tickets, actually.
Okay.
Being quiet.
Take your time.
Taking Kiwis on Sunday.
We're watching a kick live.
That's good.
It's from wide out too.
Has he got it?
Yeah, I think he did.
Nailed it.
Nailed it.
Absolutely good.
The apology we need to make?
Yeah, so producer grace, are you back at home base, mate?
Yeah, I'm at home base, homies.
We did something last night.
It was sort of in the, was it late last night or early hours of the morning?
I can't remember.
It was late last night.
Who brainstormed this?
but let's look it was me
it was me
you're like producer grace has gone home she's not here
staying the night
yeah she's because she has to get up early
and you know Megan was like
that's not early that's just normal time
that's the same time we get up every day
so technically not early
yeah but we still have to get to bed Megan
I think it was after 11 o'clock
to call her you left at 2pm
yeah because I did a full shift
and then I had to go home because I have to panel the show
I need to go to bed it's 2pm
well Megan we get it you stayed up for 24 hours
Good job.
Sorry, guys.
So, yeah, so there was many phone calls made to you at that time to potentially get you on the live stream.
And, yeah, we want to apologize for that, Grace.
Yeah, because then you sent a text immediately and you said, hey, kings.
Oh, my Lord, we almost got hit with the flying rugby ball.
They're definitely going to win on Sunday.
And we phoned Grace live.
And we apologize, Grace.
I'm sorry, we woke up your flat.
We woke up your partner.
Yeah.
Yeah, that's not.
I will not accept your apology, actually.
Well, that's fine, because I didn't agree to apologize.
Well, no, the reason was, we made an agreement that 24 hours,
you guys are staying up, but we're all going to be nice to each other for 24 hours.
You said you were going to.
No, you guys agreed to this too.
And then Megan sent me a message telling me to get,
we're going to take this off line.
Jono pulled the fingers at me, and I've been nice.
No, I need this bad.
John O'Ben and Megan, the podcast, the hits.
The donations, it has resulted in five, geez, the figure keeps going up.
$5,000 now.
for kids can that's food jackets
shoes for over 5,000
New Zealand children
here we kids
that is why we played handball for 24 hours
and that's why you guys have helped us raise over
$500,000 thank you so much
as we keep saying I feel like I'm one of those people
at the Oscars that have won an award and they keep banging on
about all the people but it's it's not us
it's a big huge team effort from kids can
from the hats from Eden Park
and from everyone supporting us
coming down on the day
and around the country
with texting in and donating
and of course online at kidscamborg.
dot org.n.
We're probably even a little bit worse
than those people in the Oscars.
They've got like a two minute time frame.
We've had an hour to say thank you too.
We have and we're still going.
A lot of air time to fill.
Yeah.
I'm going to say too much.
There is one other auction of course as well
thanks to Eden Park,
the special black door room, a secret bar they have at Eden Park.
It's a great Christmas function.
If you're a business for 12 people, we're going to go along with Nick Saunner, a CEO of Eden Park.
Is that a sweetener or is that just good for us?
Or you can leave us out and we can just be your Uber driver at the end of the day.
You get to go in the black room, you get to enjoy anything you want at Eden Park,
like walking on the roof, which is a special thing.
You can't just like wander on the roof.
No, health and safety nightmare.
