Starting point is 00:00:00 The Hits, with the Jono and Ben podcast. Cheers to Dilma, making the world a better team. Across to New York right now, to our New York correspondent, Nicole. She hosts the Breakfast Radio Show in America. She brings us up to speed with all the pop culture goss over there. And she joins us over Zoom right now. Nicole, how you going? I'm doing okay. How are you guys?
Starting point is 00:00:20 I'm loving this top. Loving the top. That's a nice Warriors top you're wearing there, Nicole. I mean, thanks. I'm just prepping for Vegas. Oh, Vegas. Have you booked our accommodation? We're going to be there.
Starting point is 00:00:34 I hope you guys are coming. Well, we're working on our boss, Matt. You guys will be there. I don't know about us, but we're trying. On your show, are you going to be promoting the Las Vegas tournament? Yeah, because we're so excited because we've got our producer, Ben, who's from Australia. He literally makes us watch all the time. He comes in early to watch the matches.
Starting point is 00:00:54 It's unbelievable. So we're all in, dude. What are your first impressions of the sport? Because obviously you're used to NFL. My first impressions are those are some seriously good looking thighs. I've never seen thighs like that on any man. It's unbelievable. They have the most girthy thighs
Starting point is 00:01:12 I've ever seen. They're even girthier in person. Oh my gosh. I guess, weirdly, don't take that out of context. But you're right, when it comes to American football, which I love, it's a great sport but they are very covered up. know falling pants helmets everything you know whereas we like to show a bit more you know to tease you a little bit in the nrl yeah i i worry like anytime
Starting point is 00:01:34 i've watched with um ben i i worry because i feel like you do need to be wearing more protective gear but just show it all off you got it i't know. And the rules are definitely a little bit confusing for us and everything throwing backwards. I don't know. But it's fun to watch, and I'm super excited for it to come here. Just so you know, all the guys down here don't have as girthy thighs. No, my thighs aren't girthy. Are yours, John?
Starting point is 00:01:59 No, nowhere near as girthy. They can vouch for that. Ours are very chicken leaky. Damn. Damn. Damn. Nicole, we wanted to talk to you about Dave Grohl fathering a child outside of his marriage. You know, I have honestly had like industry people tell me
Starting point is 00:02:17 that that was kind of like his thing, that he was always sort of up to no good. Listen, I think most rock stars, even if you haven't heard about it, like you're on tour, you're away all the time. It's got to be hard. I'm not condoning it. I think it happens more often than we think. But Dave's like this like beloved rock star.
Starting point is 00:02:35 He's like this happy-go-lucky, like sweet, funny guy. And no, I did not see this one coming at all. So are they getting him and his wife, Jordan, are they staying together or what's happening there? I mean, like the statement that he put out made it seem like, like he's trying to earn their trust back and they're working through things. But then I also found out that he had hired a lawyer before,
Starting point is 00:02:57 prior to putting the news out that he was going to be a dad. Yes. A divorce lawyer. Yeah. So I don't know. I mean, I would divorce his ass, but, like, that doesn't mean, you know. They've got three beautiful girls
Starting point is 00:03:09 who are old enough for this to, like, affect them now. They're in the public eye a little bit, so that's no fun for them, but... It is sad, though, isn't it? It's sad, don't you? Yeah. I guess it's the perception
Starting point is 00:03:20 of their public personality and what you kind of... For whatever reason, what we expect from that particular person. Yeah, he's done a lot of stuff. He did a lot of commercials for SiriusXM here in the States and he's
Starting point is 00:03:34 up at the studio all the time and he's just like the nicest guy. He's not someone you would think would be a scumbag but I don't know. I hate to say that all men are scumbags but I think you all have it deep down inside in there waiting to be unlocked. Deep in our girthy thighs. Deep in our girthy thighs just waiting to explode.
Starting point is 00:03:52 We've got Nicole joining us. We love catching up with Nicole live from New York. Hey, Nicole, appreciate your time. Love the Warriors top. You guys, well, we've got to get you to Vegas. Let's do this. Let's start campaigning now. Let's work on it, mate.
Starting point is 00:04:04 Good to see you again. You have a great week. Okay. All right, got to get you to Vegas. Let's do this. Let's start campaigning now. Let's work on it, mate. Good to see you again. You have a great week. Okay. All right, bye. See you next week. It's Nicole live from New York there. Yeah, let's get us to Vegas. I don't know if our boss is walking.
Starting point is 00:04:13 I know. You keep sending, every time we talk to Nicole, because they are going to the NRL Las Vegas tournament, you text our boss, Matt, and you're like, hey, Nicole's going with your mate. Yeah, she just wants this to happen your mate. We should all go. Yeah, she just wants this to happen, mate. And he never replies.
Starting point is 00:04:30 He just went, ha, ha, ha, ha, when I brought it up yesterday. Big news this week. Lady Gaga reposted a Facebook group that was started about her in university, basically bullying her, sort of saying she was never going to make it, never be famous. And she posted it along with a list of her accolades, Nicole, which we thought was pretty cool. Yeah, and I loved what she did because it's not some, like, that's not the way that I would react.
Starting point is 00:04:49 I'd be like, take this. Like, I would be nasty. Like, she literally just, like, made it this thing, like, believe in yourself, like you said, never give up. And I would have had some other choice words for the girls that did that to me. But she definitely took the high road. And, yeah, I'm sure those, the people that did that are doing anything nearly as cool.
Starting point is 00:05:08 Have you, you would have met Lady Gaga in New York? A bunch. Yeah. I met Lady Gaga. We've interviewed her a bunch of times. And when I was pregnant with my daughter, I have, I have to find video somewhere, but she's holding my belly and she's singing to it. She's like, can I sing to her?
Starting point is 00:05:21 I was like, yeah. What did she say? I mean, no no she just was like like just like making up it wasn't like a real song it was really yeah parker's going nuts like kicking me going like what is that shit uh that's cool that will cheat does she ask to touch your belly because that's another question can you rub a pregnant lady's belly you know it's weird i had no i i was fine with anybody coming up and rubbing my belly i like did not care i loved being pregnant i was not a normal person i loved it like i would be pregnant again like happily just if i didn't have to have the kid at the end but like but no i'm just done i just like have enough i i didn't
Starting point is 00:06:01 mind it but yeah i had friends that were like you can, but ask, because people on the subway will just walk up and touch you. Really? I'm weird. Yeah. On the subway? That seems like a very... Well, not like full-blown rubbing, but like, oh,
Starting point is 00:06:16 and putting their hand there, like, oh, that's so sweet, or congratulations, and it's like, I mean, it's still my body. That's unusual. Yeah, to me, it still feels like my stomach. It's still touching my stomach. You're right. Yeah, to me, it still feels like my stomach. It still is your stomach. You're right. We've got Nicole with us live from New York. Now, Nicole, I don't know if you've ever been to Springfield, Ohio,
Starting point is 00:06:32 but are they eating dogs there? They're eating the dogs. They're eating the cats. They're eating the pets of the people that live there. I mean, what's going on? The cats are goldfish, all of them. It just gets better and better and better. Were you surprised?
Starting point is 00:06:47 Because at this stage, Donald Trump just says stuff, and surely we can't be surprised with what comes out of his mouth. No. Oh, no, honey. We're never surprised by anything that comes out of that man's mouth. He just says words and moves his hands around, and that's it. It's just word vomit. It is.
Starting point is 00:07:04 It feels like just anything that comes into his head, he chucks out. And then he's got to remember he's in the middle of a presidential debate at times. But there's been another, well, it's since transpired, another assassination attempt. That's scary, yeah.
Starting point is 00:07:16 Are you like worried for Trump's safety? Is there concern over there for it? Or no one's really fussed? No. No one's really fussed. I'm sure that he has amazing security. This is something that does happen and he's
Starting point is 00:07:30 saying some crazy things and we have some crazy people in this world. I must admit, the one time we went to New York for work, it was confronting coming from New Zealand and seeing police wandering around with machine guns. That's something you're probably very used to but it was really like, it was an eye-opener.
Starting point is 00:07:46 I mean, yeah, now I don't like flinch, but like it wasn't always like that. Yeah, I mean, like, is everybody laughing at us? Are you guys just laughing at America? Do you just think that we are the laughingstock of the world? We do laugh until we realize that he could be the president. And then it's like, oh. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:08:04 Oh, this is real. It's not a game. We're it's like, oh. Yeah. Oh, this is real. It's not a game. We're not in a video game. Yeah. Are you worried that Trump could win? Yes, of course I'm worried. Because we've already had an example. Like the first time around, it was like, oh, this will never happen.
Starting point is 00:08:17 Oh, this will never happen. And then it happened. And we were like, oh, my God. And now he's more unhinged than ever. I think we're all a little bit waiting with bated breath if this is going to actually happen. Interesting. And, you know, obviously very scary, the assassination attempt. But it's interesting.
Starting point is 00:08:31 We hear a few people on the news and stuff and talking to America about how they feel that things were better in the economy and in their bank accounts when Trump was in charge. I don't know if that's the case for everyone, but I think that like everyone is decided like they're consuming whatever content they get from Instagram or TikTok and things like half the stuff that I see come across like my algorithm, like in my timeline is BS. Like I'll say to my husband, like, oh my God, this, and he's like, that's not true. Like stop getting your information from there. So everybody's deciding, like, I don't think anyone knows and no one's telling us the truth and politicians are infamously liars, especially that one. So I'm just I'm just
Starting point is 00:09:05 holding my breath and just praying for the best. That's all I can do at this point. What is the vibes in America at the moment? Is it a 50 50 race? After the debate, she shot up like he definitely did not get an A plus on that debate. He made himself look very, very silly. I mean, even though there's still a bunch of his supporters that thought that he killed it. I will say He said he won't debate her again, and usually there is one more debate, so he refuses to do that, probably because she made him look like a fool. It's funny on Instagram,
Starting point is 00:09:31 you can make a convincing video with a voiceover, can't you? I believe it all too. The stuff I've said on the radio. All the time. Half the time I go on the air on her radio show, and I say things, and the boys look at me, and they're like, where did you read that? Why are you saying this? Like, this is fact. So I'm sort of known,
Starting point is 00:09:47 they know to take whatever I say with the greatest salt because I could have just be like reading a tablet.
