Starting point is 00:00:00 He's about to go on tour around the country. It's comedian Guy Montgomery. Yes, Ben. Oh, sorry, I just interrupted you. You raised your arm like you had something important to say. I didn't realise that we were on the air. No, it's alright. I was going to dish more hot celebrity gossip off the mic. Oh, right. This is not safe for radio. Oh, damn.
Starting point is 00:00:18 Okay, okay. We'll hold it. What a tantalising tea. I actually have no information. What was that magazine that used to have a sealed section back in the day? The Dolly. Was it Dolly? Yeah, but it'll be like a sealed section edition yeah and cosmo had it too they had the sexy sealed section and i'd go into the uh i go into the magazine store and i'd be in the store and i'd rip the sexy sealed section off i think i hope none of the fellas catch me reading cosmo
Starting point is 00:00:40 now it's only fair now you're only fansans is kind of the equivalent, right? That's right You're about to go on tour? That's right Well, I mean, I've got a brand new stand-up comedy show For the year 2024 I love the name of it Thank you I was trying to work it out Is it 50 Million Guy Fans Can't Be Wrong?
Starting point is 00:00:58 Is that what it is? It's 50 million? That is the name And congratulations on being able to read numbers Yeah, for a while I was like 50 No, it's 50 million. I am not a great mathematician, but I take pride in being able to denote
Starting point is 00:01:10 where the comma goes relative to the value. It's 50 million guy fans can't be wrong. The title, Stolen Outright from Elvis Presley. The name of his second greatest hits compilation was 50 Million Elvis Fans Can't Be Wrong. Right. Are you an Elvis fan? Fan of his album titles his second greatest hits compilation was 50 million albus fans can't be wrong right you an albus fan uh fan of his album titles one of many uh no i was i was trying to find uh inspiration for the poster and i was sort of looking at old album covers and there's this
Starting point is 00:01:35 great album cover with albus and he's in a gold sparkly suit and there's like sort of 20 or so of him on the album cover it's called 50 million albus fans can't be wrong i thought i just think it's so funny the idea that um any number of people can't be you know it's just it's immediately wrong and then I also thought it was funny that obviously I don't have 50 million fans you know like it's just wrong twice well you're heading around the country uh Wellington, Tauranga, Rotorua, Dunedin and Christchurch May and June as well and also Guy Montt Spellingby uh your your show's back uh coming back to three I know so we've filmed the second season uh recently and i don't actually know when it's going to go to air but i feel again just so grateful like uh to get to make it once obviously fantastic to make it
Starting point is 00:02:15 twice you got to be kidding me and i do think um the second season's funnier we came up with we went bigger the games got a little bit sillier. Without wanting to give away spoilers, Jono was on an episode and he had, what I would say, in the studio, we shot all the eight episodes in one week. Probably the hardest I laughed on the show was at a moment that Jono was responsible for. It was crazy.
Starting point is 00:02:41 Oh, right. Oh, that's nice. We won't tell him. Was it because, yeah, his spelling, that's nice. We won't tell him. Was it because his spelling, it's not great? He is, I would say undoubtedly the single worst speller we've had on the show.
Starting point is 00:02:54 And we've had some shockers. The guy it's crazy that he can get through life. Have you learnt words like, have you learnt how to spell an impressive word? Because it's a spelling show, but it's foremost an entertainment show so have you learned anything have you picked up on anything uh no i think because you know we research the words and you have to categorize the words so you've got your harder words and you i think like spending a lot
Starting point is 00:03:19 of time with certain words they drill in how they're spelled and so you lose perception on what's easy and hard because you're spending so much time around you know like it's very different to be looking at a word all day and then be asked to spell it you can kind of do it like if a word's which is i think part of the magic of the show if a word's thrust upon you it's a very nerve-wracking thing to be like well i've got to get these letters in the right you know yeah ridiculous yeah well some are tricky i before e except i have C, but sometimes not. All right, let's put Megan on the spot right now. Oh, okay.
Starting point is 00:03:47 Okay, misspell. Can you not misspell, misspell? M-I-S-S-P-E-L-L? Yeah, well done. Yeah. That's a tricky one too. Yeah. Let's go one more.
Starting point is 00:03:56 Nauseous. N-A-U-S-E-O-U-S. Oh, she did it. That is a really strong outing. Thank you Honestly remarkable You must be stoked Did you know you were going to spell today?
Starting point is 00:04:09 No He's genuinely put me on the spot I've seen this Of all the things I've done This is probably my parents most proud You did really really well there Megan Thank you
Starting point is 00:04:18 Especially
