The Hits with the Jono and Ben podcast.
Cheers to Dilma, making the world a better tea.
We like to talk to Nicole.
She's an American correspondent.
She's got some amazing stories from the entertainment world over there in America.
She hosts a radio show on Sirius radio station.
And Nicole joins us.
Nicole, have you recovered from Thanksgiving?
I recovered.
I don't know if I've recovered.
I feel a little extra hefty. I feel like I need a full-blown vacation because my family are just like
gluttons for punishment, and we were in five states in four days driving
to try to make sure that we saw all of our family and friends,
and I'm regretting it immediately.
And then, Sadia, is Thanksgiving more of a family gathering time
than Christmas Day in America?
I would say equal.
It's pretty important, and it's the one that brings just as much joy
and just as much stress and anxiety about seeing family.
Stressful enough just with Christmas coming,
but you've added one right before Christmas.
Yeah, it's funny because I took a workout class right before,
like the day I was leaving for Thanksgiving,
and the teacher was like, you guys have got this. I
know that this can be a hard week because it is.
You get anxiety going to see certain family
members. Jeez, five states, four days.
That's a great turnaround there.
Yeah, my kids were thrilled. They didn't
hit my guts at all.
Now Wicked,
well the movies has been the
big talk over there leading into Christmas.
Obviously Wicked and Moana 2 is two very big movies released.
They are massive numbers, man.
I mean, both breaking records.
And I do happen to think that Wicked was, I mean, was as big as it was because it's Wicked,
but also because of the press tour that Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo were doing.
I mean, just holding hands and crying.
You really got to hand it to that sort of acting, don't you?
That's the acting where they pretend to just be happy
to be spending time with each other.
It's unbelievable.
Holding intertwined hands almost in each other's laps.
But I do believe that they actually grew up
like a serious friendship.
But people, I mean, have you seen any of the memes
of people just pretending to be them?
Like, it's just hysterical.
But I know that some of you guys saw it, and it is beautiful and magical and just next level.
And it's like, it's a great story.
It's incredible.
But yeah, their friendship is, I mean, it was three years that they worked on that together.
But there's one particular press junket where Ariana holds on to Cynthia's nail.
Her pinky nail the whole time.
It's so weird.
Yes, and then I'm going to send this to you guys,
the one thing that I have that's like a meme video
because in the middle of it they're pretending to be them
and Ariana says, I need a snack.
And then Cynthia puts her on her lap and goes to like breastfeed her,
like as a joke, obviously.
But it's like they really love each other.
They do.
Have you had any Ariana up at the studio?
Yes, we had Ariana Grande, not for Wicked.
She's got stuck in our elevators.
And I am not super, I think we've talked about this.
I do not take it kindly to when people are late, right?
Just please respect our time.
And I was going on and on live on the air.
And I was like, okay, can't wait to hear what Ariana has to say about being late.
Meanwhile, she was stuck in our elevator.
It broke.
I was like the jerk putting my foot in my mouth.
She was scared as hell.
Is she tiny in real life?
Oh, my God.
Literally, she looks like borderline,
like she could be a little person.
She's very little.
Her and Sabrina Carpenter.
Sabrina Carpenter.
Have you ever seen Sabrina on stage next to Taylor
during the Ares tour?
Yeah.
She looks like a child.
She's half.
Literally full Taylor in half.
But Ariana also
is at all times
in platforms, so I feel like it kind of
fools you. She seems a little bit taller than she is,
but she's itty-bitty.
There you go. Now, have you ever been stuck
in that lift that Ariana was stuck in?
Is that a claim to fame, that you were stuck in the same lift?
No. But there's
a horrible story at SiriusXM here in the United States.
Some guy got stuck.
Place is open 24 hours a day, so I don't understand how this happened.
And there was security footage in the elevator.
He was stuck in the elevator all weekend.
No!
For how weekend?
Oh, my God.
The whole weekend.
And, I mean, I think he ended up suing or something
because, I mean, there's so many security guards. There like there it's constantly like under surveillance i don't understand how it
like fell through the cracks but if that had been me i i don't think i could survive
that's it because you see in the movies you can climb up the shaft can't you you'd be looking at
the shaft exit yeah i don't know if that would work but yes phone or like a buzzer or yeah i
mean i guess he tried and it clearly didn't work.
That's one of my biggest fears.
The problem is too when those doors open after, you know,
48 hours or a weekend locked inside.
Oh, you'd have to go bathroom, everything in there.
Yeah, like what do they find?
Nothing good.
No, you'd have to.
You just.
I need to make a movie on this legend.
Right, and then like I feel like I would want to like look all cute
because it would probably be some hot firefighter
and he would just fight.
Covered in my own waist.
I don't know if it's a movie.
It's not much of a movie.
It's just a guy sitting in an elevator.
Thanks, mate.
I'd like to chat to Nicole.
She hosts a radio show in New York.
She's our American correspondent.
We talk to her every week.
And Nicole, I was just seeing Lindsay Lohan's back. I watched a movie
with her on Netflix over the weekend, a Christmas
movie called Our Little Secret. Have you seen it?
Yeah. I'm going to watch it too.
I was obsessed with her. I continue
to be obsessed with her. She was like right
in that niche for like when I was
younger and she was kind of going, listen,
if somebody had the paparazzi following me,
if I was as famous as Lindsay, I
would have been in even more trouble than Lindsay got herself into.
I relate. I relate.
And so I always loved her.
And I think she got kind of like just a crappy, not like a crappy hand handed to her because, I mean, she had a lot of money and great opportunities.
But it's hard to grow up with all of that in the spotlight.
But I think she's still beautiful.
I think she's still very, very talented.
And I think it's fun. I think she's still beautiful. I think she's still very, very talented. And I think it's fun.
I think she's grown up.
I think she did the right thing by sort of sailing off into the sunset
and going out of the country.
That's what she needed to be, like, not heard from or seen in a while.
And now people are sort of, like, ready.
Like, all of that stigma that, you know,
surrounded her and her partying ways is sort of, like,
diluted a little bit.
Yeah, I'm so happy to see her back.
However,
how many times John and Ben,
have I held up my phone and said,
who's this?
And would you,
and you didn't recognize that it was Lindsay.
I mean,
I imagine you do that photo for me for 10,
15 years ago.
Who's this guy?
Yeah.
Is it that she got surgery?
I know her dad came out and said that she didn't.
I mean,
I wouldn't put it past her and I wouldn't judge.
I mean, like you do you boo, but I just feel like, I wouldn't put it past her and I wouldn't judge. I mean, like you do you, boo.
But I just feel like, I don't know,
there is something to just maturing.
Your face changes, right?
A lot of favorable views.
The return of Lindsay Lohan.
I'm here for it.
That's what they're saying.
But also, have you returned if you're doing,
like even if it's Netflix,
if you're doing like Christmas movies?
I feel like if you're going to return,
it needs to be, like, a big blockbuster,
like a big movie, not like a made-for-TV movie.
Freaky Friday.
She's bringing Freaky Friday back.
Fair, fair.
Hasn't come out yet, though.
She's here.
She's not going.
I'm hoping we don't lose her again.
I do love her.
I do love her.
It was freaky enough the first time.
How much freaky?
Right?
I just watched Parent Trap with my daughter enough the first time. How much freaky is that? I just watched Parent Trap
with my daughter for the first time. Her Parent Trap.
She was so young
and so freaking talented. It was also annoying.
Yeah, that was the one where she
lured her mum and her
dad to date
the lady from the camp.
And the lady was Kirstie Alley.
Kirstie Alley,
was it?
No, I don't think that's Kirstie Alley. Kirstie Alley, was it? Was it?
No, I don't think that Kirstie Alley was in this.
You are way off with the casting.
Nicole just watched it and she's like,
what movie am I referencing?
No, I don't think it was her.
Dennis Quaid's in it.
He's not the dad, but I don't think Kirstie Alley's in it.
Quaid was Kirstie Alley.
He's the one who hooks up at the bloody camp
and they're throwing mashed potato at each other.
You're thinking about It Takes Two
with Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen.
Oh, that's another great movie.
Kirstie Ely was in there.
Because she plays twins in The Parent Trap,
so maybe that's why you're getting confused.
Right.
The old man gets confused.
He's the Joe Biden of the show, Nicole.
At least you said it and I did it.
But that other one's a good movie too with the Olsen twins.
They're the same thing.
They're luring their parents to date each other, aren't they?
Yes, across it.
Actually, speaking of kids,
there's something I noticed on your Instagram, Nicole,
and it's something my kids say exactly the same, my two daughters.
They start a sentence with, so basically.
And it's amazing how that's something they start their sentences with and i noticed on your instagram your daughter does as well it's gone
international it's everywhere basically so basically also stop calling me bra i'm not your
bra i'm saying basically um yeah yeah i don't know what that is and like that and literally it's not
literally it's not it's not literally yeah i get a text i get
a text just like brah every night again i'm like when i say something can you do this can you do
blah blah blah they'll be like brah that's it what's this supposed to be what am i to do with
this and they talk about each other like that too it's like yo brah i was not feeling good earlier
brah was and i was like you're was like, stop it. Stop it.
I kind of love it.
Yeah, it's quite funny.
You do?
You can have them.
You can have them both.
Listen, lovely catching up with you as always.
And we must go and watch the parent track together.
Yes.
And then let me know what you think
and if you still think you saw Kirstie Alley.
