Starting point is 00:00:00 You've ever guess who I saw driving past in a car yesterday? Who's that? I would never guess. You're right. It's quite an open question. And if you guessed, this would be a really long voice break. Yeah. Winston Peters.
Starting point is 00:00:10 Did you? Was he driving himself? No, that was the thing. He doesn't look like a guy who's ever driven a car. He looks like he needs to be chauffeured. As a human, but when you're like, that guy gets chauffeured. Here's the image of someone who would be show up. But then I, he was front seat.
Starting point is 00:00:25 Oh. He was front. Him and the driver front seat. Oh, really? In one of the parliamentary cars. And I thought, when he's a front seat guy? And I was also feeling really sorry for the driver because that would be the most tense car I'm even.
Starting point is 00:00:40 You and Winston Peters. I'd be so nervous driving that around. Wouldn't you? That's for sure. And you were like, oh, he's going front seat. Front seat, okay, there's no separation. Hey, Megan, not here today. And we've talked about this a couple of times throughout the morning.
Starting point is 00:00:53 I guess, you know, there's been, there was some work things. outside of the radio show going on last night, today, things like that. Which, you know, it's... To be... We want to... She's not here to defend herself. No.
Starting point is 00:01:06 You know, you get up early for this job. You feel permanently jet laggated as I'm sure people do if they work these hours. She's got young kids as well, probably bringing home sick. She... In the trenches. Probably is genuinely sick.
Starting point is 00:01:18 So anything extracurricular is a... We get this noise. And yesterday, because you were away at something for one of your kids' school things. You weren't here, but I witnessed her. We talked about the things. She's like, oh, that's on. Oh, that's on.
Starting point is 00:01:34 Those things, those whole. And then... So she had two big events, one last night, one today after the show. And so after we discussed about it, it felt like to me, just a little bit of a, like a tickle in the throat, a little cough sort of came on from Megan. How long after the conversation about the extra correct event? Oh, maybe a few minutes afterwards.
Starting point is 00:01:50 It felt like she just sort of seated in. Oh, she's starting to feel a bit. And I was like... So she had a silent brainstorm of like, How hell am I going to weasel out of this? And I sort of straight away went, well, it seems like a good play that you're doing to try and get yourself out of these other things.
Starting point is 00:02:03 She's like, no, no, no. But throughout the morning, she got worse and worse into the stage where she was like, you know, deep breasts were going on, heading on the desk sort of thing. And I was like, she might be sick. And she probably is genuinely sick. But if not, a master class,
Starting point is 00:02:17 a textbook, you know, sort of performance to get out of some of stuff. I have a question because I'm going, I wasn't here. when you guys joined first thing in the morning, were there any signs? I didn't. No, no signs from me were witnessed. No, no symptoms? No symptoms?
Starting point is 00:02:35 No discussion of, oh, it's been a hard, oh, I'm feeling it. No, it just felt like after we'd discussed outside. Anyway, these things sort of came up. Okay, so. My opinion, might be wrong. Probably. Probably enough. She's arrived in first thing, everything's fine.
Starting point is 00:02:50 Before the show started and after you've discussed the extra work, things started to unravel. This is what we know. Yes, yeah. Now, genuinely, I think she is sick. I've had updates, nothing but updates, about the last 24 hours. I mean, it's easy to send a text. It's easy to settle an alarm at 2.30 in the morning and send a text and go, I've got hot flushes. That's doable. That's not out of the question. AI, AI, you can preload a text.
Starting point is 00:03:15 So what are we going to throw out there? What do we want? Okay, we've told you our truth. What do you think is the truth? Is this a master class in pulling a sickie? Or do you think Megan is genuinely sick too? Because you like to keep a teller you have since January 1 of her sick days. Yeah, and it's reset back to zero. Days without sickness is zero now.
Starting point is 00:03:35 So we're back to start. We had high hopes that Megan would be here today. But unfortunately, she's gone down with a bit of a bug. It seems it is going around at the moment. We hear the news every day. It's been one of the sickest winters. And not in a cool way that snowboarders would say sick. but, you know, like things...
Starting point is 00:03:54 Thanks for clarifying that. Yeah, flu's going around. And Megan, though, my suspicions were raised when I started talking about all the extra work we had to do outside of work hours. And then all of a sudden, things started to eventuate coughs and sore throats and things got worse throughout the morning. You know, the issue is if it was any other day and there weren't extra work activities, I don't think we were, you know, suspicions be raised. Oh, she's gone down. She's sick. But that's okay.
Starting point is 00:04:23 That's okay. People are allowed to be sick. You're allowed to take sick days. This is what we learn from COVID. Stay home if you're sick, if you've got symptoms. I've forgotten all about that, haven't I? Yeah, you really have. But you keep a telly on Megan's sick days off.
Starting point is 00:04:35 I just like to reset things back to Zay-Zero, you know, again, you know? So the facts, you've heard them. You've heard Ben's truth. This is the people's court. Yeah. We throw it to you. The Court of Public Opinion, which I find is the most rock-seedy court you can have. can have.
Starting point is 00:04:53 Now, Megan and I are both so, you know, stubborn in these ways that none of us are going to back down on this. She's never going to admit that she was not sick. Like, there's no way. Yeah, I guess the thing that sits with me, and she can't defend herself, so I feel like I should say this. She knows what she's getting in for with you. She's taking a day off.
Starting point is 00:05:11 She knows she's in for a rinsing. But is that better compared to the extra work? Can she handle that? She's weighed up. And, you're right? Well, that's better than having to do all this extra work outside of ours. Well, a lot of people have been texting in 4487 on this one. Joe, she phoned earlier on the show.
Starting point is 00:05:30 She was just as shocked as we were about Megan's absence. I literally, I drive to work every morning, and I hit the 6 o'clock news, and I'm literally surprised if she actually reads it. Is she part-time? This morning, I'm like, oh, look, the news is not being read by Megan. That chick's part-time. Do we move her to a part-time, a cellar? Joe? I would say
Starting point is 00:05:54 I'd even go casual. Joe's lumbering in the casual employee category. It's just okay, we can do that. We'll work around. It's a business. Like you said, she comes into work, she just sends an invoice. That's fine. Maybe your services.
Starting point is 00:06:10 We do love that figure. Oh yeah, I went to the show with her, but this is great. This is giving us great joy. She knew what she was in for. Johan, how are you? Hey, listen, yeah, you two. I usually have roast Megan quick because you. guys do. But listen, when she's got to put up with a mad, politically incorrect Muppet and
Starting point is 00:06:28 the namely retentive OCD keeper of worksheet and spreadsheets, what the hell do you expect? I don't blame the girl. I'm surprised she lasted this damn long with you two. That's a great point. Are you calling a mental health day, are you going hard? Mental health day, she needs to take a bloody year off from me too. Yeah, she deserves it after you've said that. That's a very good point. A lot of Team Megan on the text. Yeah, they are. They're a loyal audience. Sarah, good morning.
Starting point is 00:06:56 Morning, guys. Welcome to the people's court. Megan's absence. Your thoughts? Wow, I've got two things. No right-minded mum would stay at home with kids if they were sick. That's a fair point. She must be really sick.
Starting point is 00:07:08 Yeah, fair point. Although one's at school, one day, NK. Anyway, you know, we'll see. Yeah, and I actually think he's super sick because I think he's sick of you too. Common theme happening here. Yeah, that may be it. Maybe this is backfite on us. Yeah, yeah, no, definitely.
Starting point is 00:07:24 You know, the rule of radio, when someone's away, you're allowed to just go all in on them. But that's backfired. Sarah, Sarah, thank you so much, really appreciate it. And see you later. And, yeah, well, we'll keep you up today. Is she here tomorrow? Who knows? Who knows?
Starting point is 00:07:38 Who knows, Ben? The extracurricular stuff has wound, you know, that's off the cards tomorrow. And then you just got Friday, and it's the weekend. You can make a miraculous recovery before the weekend. We'll find. Someone says here, ring her and see how bad she sounds on the text. We should do that after nine.
Starting point is 00:07:52 Oh, yeah. Should we? But anyone can be like, oh, I know. Yeah, I know. I know. That's a good follow-up.
