Starting point is 00:00:00 The John O'Ben and Megan podcast, thanks to Dilma. Goodness really does taste great. Dilma, making the world a better tea. It's here. It's pink here on the hits. Johnobed and Megan 805. On your Monday morning, so I'm laughing. I'll reference that.
Starting point is 00:00:16 Yeah, producer grace, huge fan of pink. You and your mum, you really bond over pink, don't you? I love pink so much. I love her. We were all just saying how much that song rocks. Really positive little moment we're having all that song as playing. What a great song. And I always said I love the music.
Starting point is 00:00:31 Love the hits. Love the hits. I was like I love that era of pink. Like that's such a great era because I love pink. And I said, but meanwhile, I'm just, just keep in mind, we're all positive. I'm just sitting here mine in my business. Well, and we're saying I love pink, but you know, she's a bit, she's a bit cringy now. She's a bit millennial with some of her recent stuff.
Starting point is 00:00:47 And I was like, cringy. I thought you loved pink. And I used the example. I was like, I love Megan, but Megan's cringy sometimes. I'm like, hey. Yeah, like, it's just over there like, hey what? Just a draw. by a shooting
Starting point is 00:01:00 that one. That is what I put up with. I see why you kick off for do, Megan. I said I loved her. It does not make it okay. That's thought out. John O'Ben and Megan. The podcast.
Starting point is 00:01:12 And now and again we have people coming in and sitting with us through the radio show and often working in the radio industry or making their way through and it's always nice to have people in that. Sometimes we get a little self-conscious though because we're like
Starting point is 00:01:26 watching radio being made isn't the most exhilarating viewers. I'm not watching anyone do their job. There is some parts that probably make for more entertaining parts. What's been doing there? I was just sending out a calendar invite. Yeah, those parts of it. I'm eating my granola.
Starting point is 00:01:40 You know, that's not super exciting, you know, for anyone. So, yeah, especially when some, in the odd occasion, there'll be a school auction. You know, come and spend the morning with this. And these poor kids sit in there and they're like, I don't know, you feel like you need to put on a show for them or something. That's why they buy them all hot. chocolates with marshmallows because otherwise it's like what happened it was fine like you know like when we had the TV show at least you felt like you were putting on a show for people that were
Starting point is 00:02:09 actually watching you know well the more people were probably watching and live on TV but yeah but this is like the show kind of goes out through speaking you're right yeah so it's a thing where we have people in from time to time and this morning we had someone join us and they were just going to soak in how the show's made behind the See our radio was made. Brad. He was lovely. He was lovely.
Starting point is 00:02:32 He was great. But I feel really bad because Megan, you got fired up with producer grace over something. And Brad, what, witness? I know, but Brad wasn't involved. No, no, but no one wants to sit through that. You know how awkward it is when people fight in front of it? You're like, oh, yeah. Grace and Megan, producer Grace and Megan, they'll kick off, you know, a couple of times a week.
Starting point is 00:02:54 They'll throw down. Can I caveat this? because I didn't know, like, you had recorded it, first and foremost. Well, the mic's drawn anyway, so it just captured it. Me and Grace, like, squabble. We're like, she's like my little sister. So we love each other, but we squabble. And it's because I feel so comfortable with her that I can talk to her this way.
Starting point is 00:03:15 Well, I know we sat through an entire session yesterday at a conference. Go, let's bring some positivity to the shows. You know, once you're off-air chat, just go, I love when you do that bit. No, but also did you hear when they were like, you have to be honest with each other. Be honest, say how you're feeling. Well, this was definitely honesty that we probably all didn't need to hear
Starting point is 00:03:31 but have a listen, this is what happened. What is your fellow? Hey, look, we've got a guess, guys, we've got a guess. We've got to guess this. Wow, guys. Yeah, but you asked me during the show and went in one ear and out of the... No, this is not what...
Starting point is 00:03:46 Oh, yeah. So the thing is, we've got to guess. We've got to guess what she goes to make radio today. It's not good. It's like mum and dad are fighting. What did you? No, but she's fighting on behalf of Troy. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:03:56 Mate, just take a breath. Really great work experience. See, this is what happens in radio. She started it. You could have visited a more peaceful radio show this morning. No, we love each other. It's a tough gig. It really is a tough job.
Starting point is 00:04:10 It's probably the toughest gig out there. Brad is a job. Brad left early. Brad is no longer here. He didn't even want to stick around to see the show finish. I gave him a hug when he left because I was like, I don't want him to think that I'm a bad person. A hug did not save that.
Starting point is 00:04:23 Hague did not undo that. No, but we argue and now we're chill. Is that right, Grace? Now we're a chill, Grace. You can produce me every day. There we go, that's great. Grace sounds like a cartoon character. Oh dear, dear.
Starting point is 00:04:36 She's just going to come in and be like, she amuses me. Help me. Behind the scenes, so there we go. I'm a nice person. Hi, drama on the radio show this morning. Really disturbing scenes taking place behind the scenes, ironically. We had a guest in witnessing radio being made, elite level radio, professional radio being made when producer Grace,
Starting point is 00:04:58 and Megan started kicking off at each other. What was the argument about? She asked me to do something during the show and I never did it. Megan's like, you can't ask me during the show? They asked me yesterday and I forgot, and so they're telling me off. And I was like, but you asked me during the show. You know, Megan, you can only talk to her when she talks to you. Oh, no, but Megan complains to do stuff after the show.
Starting point is 00:05:18 And then when we ask you during the show, she's like, I can't handle this. Too much. Too much. You probably had your headphones on watching Formula One or something. Yeah. Yeah. Wow. So this is...
Starting point is 00:05:27 I hope you're all hearing this. This is what it took place in front of, in front of a guest, too. First time meeting everyone in the room. Who's now left radio? I can't do it. Here we go. Hey, look, we've got a guess, guys. We've got a guess.
Starting point is 00:05:41 We've got a guess. During the show. No, this is not what. Yeah. So the thing is, we've got to guess what she goes to make radio today. It's not good. It's like mum and dad are fighting. What did you?
Starting point is 00:05:59 No, but she's fighting on behalf of Troy. Yeah. Mate, just take a breath. A really great work experience. Yeah, see, this is... You guys do have that relationship. Yeah, you do. I'm sorry, Brad.
Starting point is 00:06:10 I'm sorry. Stay on radio. It's super fun. That was Brad going, this is really great work experience, guys. And that is an experience of the workplace. Not everything's roses. You're right.
Starting point is 00:06:19 You're right. You're right. You're not. No, because you're blowing this up to be something it's not. Grace, can you tell them, please? Why are you holding a gun to me? Oh, don't know.
Starting point is 00:06:27 You guys are fine. You're fine. We're fine. But, yes, it's a lot of feedback. The audience is getting involved. now, which is great. It's the people show. They want to chip in.
Starting point is 00:06:36 Paul, some audience feedback on the, on the bitter spat. Hi, Paul. Hi, Paul. Hi, how you doing? They're good. How are you? What do you think? What do you think?
Starting point is 00:06:49 Well, I heard Megan telling us that she's a nice person. Maybe if she's to tell us she's a nice person, maybe she's nice. Thank you, Paul. I'm a nice person. Say I'm a nice person. You tell me with your mouth how nice I am. You are a nice person, Megan. You are.
Starting point is 00:07:08 There you are. Sorry, Paul, do you want to add? You're also fiery, fiery, but also a nice person. No, I prefer passionate about everything. Paul's got more stuff to say. What do you ought to say, Paul? Oh, I love you, Megan. I love you too, Paul.
Starting point is 00:07:24 She's a nice person, Paul. Jimmy, welcome to this. Oh, I love you, Jimmy. This is like counselling. I know Megan personally. I hear you guys all the time. She's a lovely person. Just Grace quarter off guard.
Starting point is 00:07:36 Yeah. It's not my fault, Jane. During the show. Grace. It's not, wait. Whoa. It's not my fault. Don't ask her to do work during the show.
Starting point is 00:07:43 Okay. Yeah. Jimmy, you better say I'm a nice person. Please. Yeah, you're a nice person too. I love all of you guys. Oh, we love to me, James. Yeah, someone's texting going, listening to Grace's voice is like fingers down a platform.
Starting point is 00:07:54 Wow. No, no mention of my voice. Thank you. Shut up again. I thought the roast of Kevin Hartless, guys. We've got a guess. Jono Ben and Megan, the podcast. The hits.
Starting point is 00:08:04 Megan and producer Grace, they have been going at it off here. Hey, look, we've got a guess, guys. We've got a guess. We've got a guess. Well, guys. Yeah, but you asked me during the show. It went in one or another other. Ugly, ugly scenes.
Starting point is 00:08:20 We're going to pull that down, producer Troy. We can't do that. We're moving forward to the show. Okay, that's in the past. That's in the past. But right now, Megan, we're going to give Grace a chance to let out her stress. anger, but also give you a chance to get some things off your chest as well too. Yeah, all right, it sounds good.
Starting point is 00:08:36 So are you going to, do you know what that is? It's a printer. Yeah, so Grace is walking into the technology room here at Rage Out. She's got a sledgehammer. Got the PPE equipment on. If you want to know what we look like, we look like health workers going into an Ebola outbreak. And Grace, the sledgehammer almost as tall as producer Grace as well. So you would like Megan to yell out some inflammatory things that will upset Grace.
Starting point is 00:09:00 You can do it. Does she have full permission to go hard? Go hard, okay, go hard from producer grace. Here we go. Okay, what's the first thing you want to yell up, Megan? How do you know she's Gen Z? How do you know she's Gen Z? She'll tell you.
Starting point is 00:09:11 I don't know what that is. It's a printer. It's a printer, bro. You've got the attention span of a golden retriever and a tennis ball factory. What? Just smash the printer, mate. Oh, that printer is seen better days, that's for sure. Have you spent as much time, producing?
Starting point is 00:09:30 juicing as you do on your nails, you might actually be good at your job. Oh, that's a good one. That's a real good one. We can see the motherboard. It's the growling at the same time. We keep saying it all morning. You don't factor in the cardio required to sledgehammer on. You're feeling better? You're feeling better at producer grace?
Starting point is 00:09:51 Okay, Megan, what else do you want to say to her? You're so Gen Z. You can't answer the phone. You can't spell and you think you're qualified to give me life advice. You're like literally half the age of me. Oh, jeez. Isn't it nice to have the World Cup on for football, Grace, so we can watch some real football, not the Auckland FC?
Starting point is 00:10:14 I don't mean that Auckland. I actually love the Aucklandcy. I just want to wind Grace up. She's the biggest fan. Auckland's, I mean, no, England's not going to win, babes. England's not going to win. Frat, right, did she just swear? Now, my only fear is that was the actual printer from the office.
Starting point is 00:10:31 Yeah, that's a problem. It looks like a really... We'll deal with the fall out of that. What are we allowed to smash and what are we not allowed to smash? Well, lead producer Grace getting a rage out. Just a moment, we'll get Megan into another rage room. There's cars. She looks like a little guinea pig.
Starting point is 00:10:45 You can smash. There's crockery. There's all sorts of stuff. As you said before, it's the Briscoe's lady's nightmare. A whole room full of crockery as well. John O'Ben and Megan. The podcast. The heads.
Starting point is 00:10:56 They're relieving some stress between producer Grace and Megan. and things have been bubbling over, as you said a couple of times. So we're getting it all out today at Rage Room. Yeah, giant peacekeeping mission, isn't it? It is. have you relieved yourself? I haven't so far. I haven't asked where the bathrooms are.
Starting point is 00:11:28 Just out of the back to the right. I think of you. But Megan, well, you've just thrown some shade, producer Grace's way, and she's feeling a lot better, aren't you? set up there. Just a big office one that you just annihilated. I'd say it about four hits with the sledgehammer there, Grace. I have excellent sledgehammer technique because I put it out there, guys, excellent sledgehammer technique. Megan's got the overalls on,
Starting point is 00:11:40 she's got the face mask on, the gloves, she's ready to go, and you've chosen a couple of... Yeah, I'm double parked. I've got a crover and a mini sledgehammer because the sledgehammer is quite heavy. Yeah, it is, you're right. And I want to be able to like swing! A cute little sledgehammer, as Megan would say. Okay, you've got a TV
Starting point is 00:11:57 here, we're going to move into the cars as well, and then there's a crockery plate room as well. You can go nuts. Look at that beautiful flat screen. All right, Megan. This is where we're starting. We're starting on the 42-inch flat screen. All right, okay.
Starting point is 00:12:09 Producer Grace is going to yell out something to you. What do you want to say, producer grace? Okay, hey, Megan, Formula One is basically just watching rich people sit in their cars, but at 300 kilometers an hour of it. Oh! Producer Grace? Okay. New Zealand found a new favorite driver. Oh, not Liam Lawson.
Starting point is 00:12:30 Megan's favourite. Also six weeks of solo parenting built up here as well. Yeah. Are you ready for this one? This is a good one, Megan. When I said you could be my mum, did it hurt more? Did it hurt more that nobody disagreed that people were doing the math? She's found something on the way. I think that's the work product of here, but anyway, she's on the car now, she's on the car. On to the silver 1996 BMW. Andrew's stage kiss was Juliet. He wasn't sure whether to applaud or text him. Oh, he's just been in a show for six weeks, Pissing Juliet on stage.
Starting point is 00:13:07 Look at that car, just get dismantled. This feels like it's one of those internet videos where you're like, look at this ex-getting revenge on their cheating partner. Okay, producer grace, anything else? Okay, Harriet the boss has just sent you a calendar invite to workshop the follow-up email for next week. Catch-up meeting.
Starting point is 00:13:22 Oh, she hates meetings. She hates emails. She also tries to get that crowbar out of the windscreen of that car. Who hates emails? I know. And finally, one more thing. What are you all say? Let's round it up. If Liam Lawson ever starts a company, Megan,
Starting point is 00:13:36 you will finally have to choose between her two biggest fears. Missing Liam Lost Liam News or opening a work email. Oh, oh, he's not happy about that. It gets to that awkward point. When do we stop? Yeah, it's like one of those pack up yourself and go home quietly situations, isn't it? As she carries on. Megan?
Starting point is 00:13:58 I feel so good. That was exhilarating. I'm a little scared. I got the crowbar stuck in the car and I was like, yes. Okay. Now, after all of this exercise, can we please? Please get a handshake between the peer of you. Peer of you.
Starting point is 00:14:12 A peacekeeping handshake. Oh, they've got a hug as well. Beautiful scenes, touching scenes.
