And Megan.
No, Ben, today.
Two days are back at work and it was too much for a little fella.
Little Benny Boy needed to have asleep.
Three days off out of five this week.
He's off to some work.
And Megan and Ben have some real passive-aggressive tension over who's had more annual leave throughout the year.
He has.
He has.
It's an ongoing telly.
And I enjoy it.
It's like a game of tennis.
My head just goes back and forth.
Also, he tried to breeze over it like we wouldn't notice.
You know, he was like, oh, yeah, no.
I'm not going to be as where I'm doing.
Megan was never going to let it go.
No.
Ever.
I still think we should call him before the end of the show
and actually see what he's doing right now.
Because if he's doing work, surely he could have done it after the show.
But anyway, we'll get to that.
Bigger issues at hand.
Much bigger issues at hand.
SNL, it is the Saturday Night Live show in America.
It had a controversial monologue.
Comedian Shane Gillis.
He's hosted it three times.
This is his third time?
I think he actually was a kind.
member and they fired him in
2019 then they've had him back three times
since and he hosted the
Roast of Kevin Hart if you don't know
who we're talking about so I mean he's a controversial
comedian some spicy gear yeah I didn't like
him host I didn't find him that funny
and his monologue is really
it's gone viral uh part of it
on the internet also I haven't been to the gym in so long
I didn't know women just dressed like
now
look I'm sorry there's no other
to describe.
Have you seen it?
I've seen it.
The shorts.
So he read from, you know,
a derogatory term
towards women wearing short shorts in the gym.
I mean, in the grand scheme of things
out there at the moment,
it's not really as offensive as it could have been,
but it sparked the debate,
like they would have seen the monologue,
they let him go ahead.
It's like, it's just,
I find that cheap and not funny.
And if, like,
I'm tired of having to explain
why calling women the W word
is problematic and why talking about what they're wearing to the gym is an issue.
I'm tired of the inevitable response being, oh, you just can't take a joke.
His monologue is a perfect example of why we're even still having this conversation.
Because apparently women wearing tight shorts to the gym is now fair game for ridicule.
I don't understand why it's so difficult to see the problem.
When news today came out in Australia that 25%
of teenage boys believe feminism is damaging and should be met with violence.
25%.
There's so many other news stories.
Who was conducting that survey?
Ring, ring, hello.
Oh yeah, we're just doing a survey.
I think it was in schools.
It was in schools.
Yeah.
And the follow-up question was, how should it be met with A, violence, B, kindness?
I don't know.
Was it a monkey choice survey?
There's so many news stories I could be referencing as well, but it's honestly, it's just too
depressing.
And we all know the societal rules.
Like you don't embarrass a man by being smarter, stronger, more accomplished than him.
If you want to say no, you've got to protect his ego.
If you want to walk, like never walk away from a drink.
Never walk alone in the dark.
Keep your keys between your fingers when you're by yourself.
Don't have earpods in when you're running by yourself.
Don't be too emotional.
Too loud.
Too smart.
Too pretty.
Too large.
Too small.
Smile more.
Always be thankful.
Don't show too much skin, but don't be approved.
Don't be an S word.
Don't be a frigid.
I was going to say an F word, but it's not as bad as the F word.
Don't argue.
Don't ignore.
Don't ask for more.
Don't complain about less.
You're lucky to be here.
Why is there a chick here?
You don't know anything.
You're not smart enough.
Or you don't know anything.
How dare you get the promotion over me?
She must have sleep with her boss.
She's an S word.
She asked for it.
She came over when I invited her.
She wanted it.
She smiled at me.
She didn't smile at me.
She wasn't wearing enough clothes.
It's like insane.
It is so tiring and all this conversation does, all this monologue does, is perpetuate the rhetoric.
And it makes it okay for teenage boys and for everyone to talk about women like we are less.
It's funny you mention that because I'll be fully transparent.
As a guy, I don't think of any of those things that you've just listed there that you go through.
and it's crazy.
To me I'm like,
as a person who said,
an incomprehensible,
a comprehensible amount of dumb stuff
throughout my life.
I was like,
it's a dumb gag,
shouldn't have used the word,
probably still could have had
the comedy without using the word
and it was a silly thing to do.
And that's all I took away from it.
But to know that
it means so much more to you
and other women,
it's eye-opening.
And I mean,
it shouldn't be eye-opening for me.
I should be aware of it,
but it's just not something.
that as a guy you have to deal with
so I'm sorry that you have to.
No, it's just like it's just tiring
I think and I appreciate
you saying that.
Like I don't think feminism is
a scary or dirty word.
I think it is purely just
your sister, your grandmother,
your mother, all of those women are just
wanting the same
rats as everyone else.
I don't want to take away
the whole cake. They just want to
slide. And this is just another little thing
in a very public platform that doesn't help
Shane, come on, mate.
Shane!
Do you know, and despite feeling desperately passionate about this,
I don't like talking about it because I don't,
all I can think about is people being like, oh, there she goes again,
she hates men, she's a winger, she's emotional, she's hysterical,
and I just don't want to start an argument.
No, fair not.
That doesn't help either.
Yeah, no.
And you know the other issue for your cause or your argument is that we live in a,
it's not a 24-hour news cycle now, it's a 10-minute hate-a-year.
cycle.
And everyone will be like,
change,
try,
and then we'll just
move on to the next thing
in two days time.
But let's remember this competition.
