Starting point is 00:00:00 The John O'Benna Megan podcast, thanks to Dilma. Goodness really does taste great. Dilma, making the world a better tea. Now, Megan, over to you. You're away used today. Yes. I was lucky enough to be invited by the Toyota team to the launch of GR racing. And they've got the Yarris, they've got the Corolla,
Starting point is 00:00:21 they've got like a bunch of, like, very cool, racy cars that people can just use on the road. You know, to drive in a corolla? We had a corolla in the car for decades. They just, they keep, they don't die. Yeah, keep going. Like us in radio, they just don't die the corolla. Now, we kept saying yesterday on the show, Megan's Away racing cars and our boss in Australia, Craig, he thought it was a joke. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:00:44 Yeah. No, no, no, she was actually racing cars. Oh, no, he knows he loved cars, but we just thought that, yeah. She's off racing trying to be a race driver. And he's like, okay. What's she really doing? I was like, no, that's what she's doing. Now, Ben thought it might be a little too late to start your motor racing career.
Starting point is 00:00:59 Yes, it is. I did ask. I was like, what's the age limit for, like, the training? And, yeah, it was considerably younger than me. Yeah, not good for your heart. But I did, shut up. I'm just, I know you're going to. I'm about to be ripped for a whole lot of things in this break,
Starting point is 00:01:16 but I'm just going to, like, power through. So I went to Hampton Downs, and it's always been a dream. You know that I've wanted to do a hot lap for Eber. I've never managed to do it. And I finally, when I was there, I got to do two. over the weekend. So you got to drive around? I got to drive.
Starting point is 00:01:32 It wasn't a weekend. It was the middle of the week. You took time off for work. I keep saying weekends. Stop trying to slide this into the weekend and not use your days and you'll leave. It felt like it. But yeah, I got to race cars around Hampton Downs. And I actually got a nickname over those two days.
Starting point is 00:01:51 I was there with, it was a lot of males. It's a, you know, a male-dominated sport. So I felt very lucky to be there. There was three of us women there. And so when I got to race the cars, there was one point where you had to do like a handbrake and spin around the cones on Hampton Downs racetrack. And I was like very nervous to do it in front of everyone. A little bit of brake here. Yeah, nice job.
Starting point is 00:02:17 This is me driving. And power on. And break. Nice. Left side of the tower. And handbrake. That was me doing my handbrake. doing my handbrakey.
Starting point is 00:02:29 I managed to smoke. I smoked the tires. Got smoke out of the tires? And I'm repeating what was told to me, but I did the best. I did the best out of everyone. And they started calling me Handbrake. And I was like, oh my God.
Starting point is 00:02:45 Is your nickname Handbrake. My nickname's Handbrake. The most flattering nickname I think you can give a woman. In a good way. Is Handbrake a good thing? Is Andrew you going to start calling your handbrake now? Do you know what ex-husband used to call me, like, the fun police so it's pretty close to a handbrake.
Starting point is 00:03:00 A bit of a handbrake. Yeah. But, and then I was the only one who got told to slow down during a slalom bit. The instructor was like, you can just slow down. So I felt pretty cool. I definitely held my own in front of the guys. But I did get to do a hot lap with... With Racing Ryan.
Starting point is 00:03:21 Ryan Wood. The Ryan Wood. Racing Ryan. The GMR ambassador. Now we've watched some video of you and Ryan. Ryan Wood interacting. Speaking of hot laps. You can play it if you want.
Starting point is 00:03:35 It's me. I got him to record something. Producer Grace has accused you of some top-tier flirting here. There's been lip-biting, sort of caressing of racing Ryan's chest. I don't know what else went on, but anyway, yeah. Here we are. Ryan, can you please tell the guys how good I was at racing? I wouldn't call it racing.
Starting point is 00:03:54 I'd call it fast driving. It was pretty impressive. say. You didn't even see me try. I didn't. You just told me to say all this. You're such a lot. Listen to the giggling. I know, you never giggled like that with us,
Starting point is 00:04:09 is he? She's sort of, and then she pushes his chest where she's like, get out of here. Ryan is also giggling. We'd spend a lot of time at the table. A lot of giggling. We'd just had like a two-hour dinner and we've been roasting each other the whole time.
Starting point is 00:04:23 Excuse me? We're just like good mates. All right. I'm going to call you giggles. I've definitely touched you before, Ben. Not like that. John O'Benn and Megan. The podcast.
Starting point is 00:04:37 I love a nap. And most days, I probably don't really get a chance to. Pre-kids, loved a nap. Middle of the day nap, great. The 20 minutes is really underrated. It gives you all you need, 20-minute power nap, doesn't it? But you have to see, it has to be 20 minutes, though, right? Because you wake up and...
Starting point is 00:04:56 Yeah, you can tip it to 25, but anything past that 30 mark you're starting to feel groggy when you wake up. And I think all of us had naps yesterday. Did you nap, John? I did. Yeah, we all in a nap. I'm not a nap, I don't really enjoy a nap normally,
Starting point is 00:05:08 but I used to feel a bit under the weather, so I was like, maybe it will help me out. But yeah. And felt worse afterwards from that two hours. And then I, you know. Because your body was like, what was that? What was that? But then I think it helped me out later in the evening.
Starting point is 00:05:20 Your body going, is he relaxing me? I know. For the first time? Yeah. Am I dying? I don't know. There's stuff to do. What are you doing?
Starting point is 00:05:31 But yesterday I still had a lot on, but I found myself getting to an appointment quite early. It was like they're half an hour early. And I kind of sat there and I was like, I could do work or I could lean my car, my seat back. And I was in the sunshine. It was like prime napping conditions. You've done that in the garage when you've turned up for work one morning, remember? Yes. Well, where's Megan for the sick?
Starting point is 00:05:55 of clock news. And I've done it in the supermarket car park before as well. And this time, it was like a suburban street. So I was like, this is great. In the sunshine, lay my seat back as far as I could go. And I was like, it's hot though. So if I fall asleep, like I don't want, I need to crack a window like a dog, you know? So I cracked my windows open. And I wrapped up a jacket and put it under my head and then put another jacket like over my arms and I snuggled. up and fell asleep. Great. But I set a timer, but I woke up before my timer to someone knocking on my window,
Starting point is 00:06:36 walking past, and knocked on the window and said, sorry, are you okay? Are you? I'm thinking you are living rough or something. Or unconscious or something. Yeah. No. I don't know. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:06:49 But I kind of like, I didn't know where I was, what was happening. So I wasn't actually sure. myself. I didn't know where I was in the street. I was like I don't know how I got here. A bit of drool coming down your mouth. Yeah. But I was like oh no, I'm okay, I'm okay. I was like, in the future I might need
Starting point is 00:07:07 to like write a note on my head. Like when you're lying down sleeping. Sleeping. I'm just having a nap. Breakfast radio hosts always feeling average. Some days you feel slightly above average but mostly below average. I was thinking you just put, mum is sleeping.
Starting point is 00:07:22 Tired. I don't knock on people's window. I'll go up cars. Now since COVID there was a guy, I went to the supermarket after we were doing the show here. It was lockdown and some essential services were still going and there was a guy sleeping in his car, had a dog and I was like, oh, go into the supermarket
Starting point is 00:07:39 and I'll do some generous act of kindness and I bought some bread and milk and I just placed it on his windscreen. Then the dog saw me and he woke him up and he's like, what are you doing? I was like, I'm just giving you some bread and milk mate, you know, care car. He's like, I'm just a builder across the road.
Starting point is 00:07:58 It's lunchtime. I'm just sleeping. I would have appreciated some bread and milk, actually. He kept the bread of milk. He's like, I'll take those. Don't get that. John O'Ben and Megan. The podcast.
Starting point is 00:08:10 The Hits. Last week before the school holidays kick in. There we go. They come around quick. They do come around quick. And I keep saying to the kids, appreciate the length of holidays you have. Because, you know, and Siena, your oldest will be the same, Ben.
Starting point is 00:08:28 They don't actually go back to school term four. She is a couple weeks, I think. You're one. Yeah, she goes out a couple weeks. There's like months break. Months. So once they finish their exam, essentially it's a three-month. A three-month sabbatical.
Starting point is 00:08:41 And, geez, suck it up, lap it up while you can. Yesterday I felt like a bit of a criminal. I was doing a favor for my neighbor, and she's like, my car needs to be towed, but I'm not going to get home in time. Is this Emma? Yes. Emma who's making you run a marathon in Queensland. A 10K.
Starting point is 00:09:01 For your girls weekend. God, every time I see, she's like, how's the training going? How is the training going? Terrible. Not good. As in, I'm not doing it. But she rang me and was like, I'm not going to get home in time for the tow truck. Could you just head down there and wait for them?
Starting point is 00:09:17 So she was getting like her car towed? Yeah. She's driving another car, but the car at home needs to be towed. I was like, yeah, okay. Sweatass, no worries. It's one of the few times you want your car. So I wandered down and I'm sitting on the mat on the door. Like I was working at home and I had track pants on like jandals and I had a black hoodie.
Starting point is 00:09:38 You fell asleep, didn't you? No. Oh, no, I didn't fall asleep. That had real risk though. But I was sitting on the doorstep and then I was like, oh, she gave me the code. So I'm like ferreting around on the code for the door. And that's when someone pulls up the driveway and I was like, oh, they're here. Oh no, I do not know that person.
Starting point is 00:09:58 Oh, and you've got a hoodie, track pants, and you're trying to, I see what you're saying. It was the dog walker bringing the dog home. And she was like, oh. You're running a busy operation at the house when they're not there. She's like, oh, um, what are you doing? And I was like, I am here. I'm here because the car's being towed and Emma's not going to be back in time. And I need to wait to get the car.
Starting point is 00:10:21 And I'm just like, floundering. Yeah, the more floundering. I get it. And I was like, I have the code to the door. And she's looking at me. But it's just not working. Yeah, why didn't you put it in the door? Yeah, can you help me with that?
Starting point is 00:10:35 She'd be like, oh, this is suss. This is suss. I look like an absolute criminal. And she was like, does she know you're here? And I'm like, story I just told you would suggest she does, but I know what you're saying. So I followed her inside and sat down. And I was like, oh, she's trusting me. She's let me in.
Starting point is 00:10:53 But as she left, she's like, I'm just going to call her. and let her know you're here. Fair enough. That's it. I was like, okay, yeah, that's fine. Remember our old, there was an old boss here at the station,
Starting point is 00:11:03 Toddy, he was working at a radio station in sort of rural Australia and he got into do his breakfast show one morning and there was someone fosciking around in the office and he didn't know who they were and they were carrying stuff. And he's like, good morning, mate.
Starting point is 00:11:17 He said, looks like you got your hands full. He said, do you need a hand? And so then Todd helped him carry some stuff outside. I didn't order them a taxi as well too. and gave him one of the radio station taxi chits doing a nice thing for what he thought was and then it turned out that someone was stealing all that stuff
Starting point is 00:11:32 and he'd help them and then all the team for the radio station came in after 8 o'clock and like where's all our stuff from the office? Of course he did, that checks out. So that, you can see why you were asked all those questions. John O'Ben and Megan
Starting point is 00:11:47 The podcast The Hats I have a real bug bear with teenagers at the moment and bet like I imagine that your girls might be into this. When I go into stores and there's, you know, like younger people working there, they're wearing, you know, those stars and flowers and hearts and stuff on their face, the pimple patches.
Starting point is 00:12:10 The pimple patches, yeah. Very popular at the moment, the pimple patches. Why? Why? Why? Like, I used to manage a cafe and I'm like, I had teenagers. I would just be like, why are you wearing stickers on your face? I don't get it. It's a fashion. It's a more fashionable way of, like, you've got two options.
Starting point is 00:12:32 You go roll with a pimple that everyone can see. You'll roll with a sticker over the top, a cute little sticker on toes. It happens a good old, like, concealer. Well, sometimes it doesn't work. Yeah, would you rather? Or like put a clear patch over it and then conceal it. All right, like my daughters do it. At first, I was probably like, oh, what's with this?
Starting point is 00:12:48 And while, you know, I've seen the thing. And now I'm like, oh, I'm not cool with it. They go out and about wearing them from time to time. I'm like, it's all good. Producer Grace, come on in. Producer Grace, 25 years old at the moment. Not even a teenager. You've got stickers on your face, bra.
Starting point is 00:13:00 I currently have two beautiful yellow stars on my face, and I think I look amazing. I just want to say, Megan, this is the most boomerish you've ever seen. Yeah, it's nice. I don't like those young kids. Go away. She looks like a gold star chart. Remember at school when you...
Starting point is 00:13:12 Yeah, look like a sticker book. You do look like a sticker book. And I want to look like a sticker book. Why you hate it? Oh, my God. What is the science behind them, Grace? It just like helps seep up like the oil and all the gush. It's like you know how when you get a what's on your heel?
Starting point is 00:13:25 You get blisters. It's like you know how you put blisters? It's hydrochaloids. You put a blister and it sucks up. Everything helps heal it. It's just that on a pimple. They actually were? Yeah, totally.
Starting point is 00:13:33 How long? So like if you put a, so I've got a raging, a raging, but it's hidden under the skin, you know. That's a whole different one. That's a whole different side. So you've got to bring it to the, bring it up. You got to bring it up with feet and then you put the sticker on it. I see. We, you know, back in.
Starting point is 00:13:49 Back in our name. Yeah. Oh no. Oh no. I said it. Don't say it. I said it. We would smear Colgate toothpaste all over them.
Starting point is 00:13:59 Not going out with it though. You'd get before be it or a bit of stuff. You'll wake up with a minty as fresh pillow. I would put perfume on it because the alcohol would dry it out. Perfume? Yeah, girl, and then you smell good and then it dries it out. Ew. Oh, what happened to just give it a squeeze?
Starting point is 00:14:13 Sometimes they're not ready for a squeeze, though. Yeah, exactly. If you get a blind people, you squeeze it, dangerous territory. Yeah. Okay, well, I'm just, I'm trying to help you out. Because I'm going to say, you're going to look back in 10 years' time and you're going to be like, why did we put stickers all over our face? You also have to realize, Ginzi just don't get it.
Starting point is 00:14:27 It's like my mum talking about tattoos. You sound exactly like my mom looking at tattoos. You're going to look back and you're going to go, what was I thinking? And some people do. And some people are. And I might. And you are. And then other people are thinking are like, hey, no, I'm behind that.
Starting point is 00:14:40 Yeah, so, yeah. Do you remember Dallison tea? Oh, yeah. And you're like, it was like sulfuric acid or something. It was very powerful. It was like a glass bottle. and you'd dab it on. Didn't it make your towels?
Starting point is 00:14:53 Was that the one that bleached your towels? I don't know. It was some powerful stuff going on. Yeah, it was powerful. Yeah, you put it on the pimple. Yeah. Why is to take Roacutane? Yeah, I did too.
Starting point is 00:15:02 Yeah, that's not. They don't give that to people anymore. I remember my friend was on. You couldn't go in the sunlight. Yes, you can't go. I was on it. I've got scars from where I got sunburnt when I was on Ractoutain. Is it that?
Starting point is 00:15:15 Oh, wow. So before you say I don't have pimply skin, I very much used to have. I'm surprised. I thought you'd be into a cute little, just cute star. You know, like, oh, it's nice, yeah. You look stupid, mate.
Starting point is 00:15:26 No, I'm with that, Grace, you do it your flow flag. Why don't we make Megan wear? No. No. It might grow on you. What do you do if you get one right on the end of your nose? So you get to put a star there. Yeah, I have clear ones.
Starting point is 00:15:39 Like, there's more. Producer Troy had one on the end of his nose yesterday. I know, that's why I asked, because he looked ridiculous. John O'Bin and Megan. The podcast. The Hats. A.I. I might have jumped the shark.
Starting point is 00:15:50 There's been a lot of news this week from the tech. The guy that was a part of creating it, didn't he come out and say, look, I quit because it's going to take over. It's going to be hacking all the bank accounts. It's going to be hacking the nuclear codes. Feels like that horse has bolted. Yeah, a long time ago.
Starting point is 00:16:06 They offered him $2 million to sign a contract to not say anything. He didn't take the money, that guy. Well, why didn't he get a moral compass like four years ago? That's why I saw someone on the internet going, this is great that all these people are feeling bad about life now. But for 10 years you've been creating this monster. You could have pulled out at any time.
Starting point is 00:16:25 But in the meantime, let's have fun with it. So I went to movie pre-meat for Practical Magic, that movie that I was very excited about. On Nicole Kidman and Sanjay Bullock. Yeah, the witchy one. And they gave us tarot cards. Now, I don't know how to read them. I have some friends who do, but I... Everyone's got a tarot card person in their group.
Starting point is 00:16:46 Yeah. But me and my friend are sitting there and we'll have no idea what we're doing here. And she was like, do you know what? I'm going to ask chat, chat, GBT. So she pulls up, she was like, can you talk me through reading some tarot cards for my friend? It's like, yes, absolutely. So we just ran through the whole thing with chat GPD. And it's telling my fortune, just from what we're giving it.
Starting point is 00:17:08 We're like, pulled this card, pulled the sun card. Oh, so then you just type into chat GPT. Yeah, and it reads it for you. It's like a very unfortunate teller. All the people in the robes with all the scarves and things. They were out of work too, thanks to AI. I would have thought that would have been an AI-proof industry. Rubbing the big ball and the...
Starting point is 00:17:28 Yeah. It was, like, accurately vague. You know, like I could apply everything it said to my life in a certain way. Yeah, I know what you're saying. Yeah. But then people are like, oh, that's so me. You're like, okay, yep. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:17:43 So I was like, this is genius. I would have thought that that was a skill that you wouldn't necessarily be able to get from AI but you can get that too now. It can also predict your future and how bleak it's going to be as well, AI. Things are going to go really bad. I find that with Star Signs,
Starting point is 00:17:58 sometimes in The Herald I flick into the star signs and you're like, they do a great job of going, today's a Monday. You're like, yeah, yeah, that relates hard. I have a long week ahead of me. John O'Bennon and Megan, the podcast. The Hits. said Stephen Adams and just a wonderful New Zealand to Stephen Adams.
Starting point is 00:18:17 You know, a story reminded as he left, someone saw him at the airport, and he'd had a meal. And he'd finished, he took his plates and cutlery and everything back up to the counter. That's awesome. What he's doing, you know, like, as I say, he's teamed up the Warriors, helping out Kiwi kids around the country, trying to get more Kiwi kids into sport. You can text Stephen to 933. Help him out, make an instant $3 donation. He might never be coming back on this show again, though, because apparently something took place after the interview.
Starting point is 00:18:42 I think was great. With Megan, we had a good time. He sat on the table. He was like, I'll take a photo of this. He even posted it to his social media account. So it looked like everyone left. We had five minutes. We were under time.
Starting point is 00:18:53 We didn't, you know, it was like, this is great. And textbook. This is great. What did you do, Megan? No, so like, I know who Stephen Adam is, obviously, but I've never like been taken by his beauty before. Okay. Quite as I have in person. He's very beautiful.
Starting point is 00:19:11 and rustic, manly Yeah, and like he's so engaging And you know what? Like men, if you look a woman in the eyes And talk to her like you care Woo-wee It's like Just don't stare too long into their eyes
Starting point is 00:19:26 If you're sitting at a cafe He's just like, he looks at you And he's so kind And he called my daughter chicken And he was like, come here baby Like he was so sweet And so at the end of the interview I was like quite taken with him
Starting point is 00:19:39 I was like he's a great man and he came in for a cuddle. Now keep in mind, I'm pretty short. And he's 6-11. Yeah. And so I went in for the cuddle, but he like leaned down and kind of engulfed me. So otherwise your face would have been in his belly butt. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:19:57 And like, bless him, he doesn't do half-ass cuddles. I hate half-ass cuddles. He was like, in, mm-hmm. And- I don't think he was making those noises. That was... No. I'm just trying to explain why this happened.
Starting point is 00:20:10 So as he cuddled me, I wanted to say, have a good day. Because he's leaving, right? I was like, have a good day. That seems like a nice thing to say. It's off, wish him well. But I didn't. How did you blow that? Well, because the hug, engulfed me, and I was like, ah!
Starting point is 00:20:32 And I got flustered. I usually managed to keep my call. I keep my call when Liam Lawson was here. You did. You did. Yeah. But I, something came out that made no sense and I thought I got away with it, but apparently producer Troy heard it and so did the microphones. Okay, we'll have a listen to this.
Starting point is 00:20:51 Oh, I want to all first. How are you too? Hey, thanks mate. What'd you say? I couldn't hear it. He hugged him and I said, how are you? Oh, how are you? At the end about a whole indianage. How are you?
Starting point is 00:21:12 That's like one of those chats, you know, how are you really? Maybe he thought it was like, wow, she cares about mental health. Maybe, yeah. Or maybe he's like, has she been here for the last five minutes listening to this conversation? Everyone's saying goodbye. I hugged him and said, how are you? Let me listen again. I wore tall shoes.
Starting point is 00:21:32 How are you, too? How are you? And then it came off the back of, I wore tall shoes because you're tall. How are you? How are you? And the worst part is he didn't reply. Like that was in his ear. I'd say, how are you in his ear?
Starting point is 00:21:48 And he was like, I'm going okay. It's been a busy day, but I'm going okay. You don't usually ask at the end of a whole conversation. I had a shock at the other day when the netballist came in with the trophy. Remember that? And I said, oh, it looks like a globe. There's a shape of the trophy.
Starting point is 00:22:01 They're like, it's a netball. It's also globe-shaped. Yeah, yeah. So, here you go. Just add that to the list of guests who will never come back on the show. Hopefully he will. It's great to catch up with them. John O'Ben and Megan
Starting point is 00:22:12 The podcast The hits A big A big donator of blood Megan It's what we like about you It's why we said We'll definitely want to work with Megan
Starting point is 00:22:22 Yeah Yeah okay She's uh No but I'm not saying that sarcasticly You're doing a good service No I was like I've got in the little sheet That I'm going to talk about my blood
Starting point is 00:22:29 donating And Ben's like This is about Megan's blood I do like In your defence I do like to be like I'm saving lives today Press rule I think of giving blood is you need to tell anyone.
Starting point is 00:22:42 It's like running and stuff. CrossFit. Yeah. It's not that I'm chill about it. No, but it's awesome that you are doing it. And more people should do it. So I really do appreciate the fact that you take the time to do it and you are helping out people. And they've done a wonderful thing for you because they've made it into a competition with an app.
Starting point is 00:22:57 Yeah, exactly. As soon as they make it a competition, you're like, oh, I can keep going. I can, you know. Because my dad donated like 70 times, but he really wanted to get to the Hyundai Club. And he never did. So I was like, I'm going to do it. I'm going to get in the Hyundai Club. I am concerned about your health though
Starting point is 00:23:11 because eventually you're going to wander around like a juice box that's where he sucks just like clinging on to any energy we'll have to carry around like weekend at Bernies she's nearly at the 100 club I donate plasma because you can do it every two weeks
Starting point is 00:23:26 but that day that I do it I am like a bit of a zombie and my husband's always like she's donating blood again she's going to be like I can't do anything he fainted didn't he when you took him a lot.
Starting point is 00:23:40 Yeah, so rich from him, he can't do it because he's a wimp and he passes out. He only did it once, didn't he? Or he only donated 70 mills and then they had to tip the chair backwards and take it out. They're like, sorry, we can't continue. They were so worried about him and I was like slapping my leg laughing. So he hasn't been back. Traumatic experience for him. It's not for everyone.
Starting point is 00:24:02 But yesterday I was going around, I said to Andrew, I was like, remember I'm going to be late because I'm saving lives. I left here and I was like, guys, I'm saving lives. Send a company-wide email out. Yeah, I'm not chill about it. So I went there, and usually you get, so you donate blood and they have like a great snack station. So afterwards you can get like, there's chocolate biscuits. Like there's all kinds of things. But I usually get it afterwards.
Starting point is 00:24:27 And I was like, I'm going to prepare. I'm going to be prepared. I'm going to make myself a little snack plate because then when I'm donating plasma, it takes a little bit longer to do plasma. I'm going to watch my Netflix and eat my snacks. I had it all sarsed. To be honest, like be honest, is it less about the blood
Starting point is 00:24:43 and more about just sitting in a lazy boy eating snacks and watching Netflix? I mean, that's a bonus. Instead of going home and having to do jobs. And also... And you get a good old. Good on you for doing it. It's so good.
Starting point is 00:24:54 And they're like, do you want to be reclined? I'm like, yes! Yes, I do. So I had my snack plate. I had like an assortment of nuts. I made myself like a flat white. I had some like cheese and crack. Like, it was lovely.
Starting point is 00:25:08 What is this place? I know. Am I selling it? Mums, you need to do this. And so you go on for like a pre-check where they check up on like, are on any new medication, have you had a cold or cough or anything recently, just to make sure you're right to donate. So I had my coffee, my snacks, everything ready, and I'm like going through everything.
Starting point is 00:25:28 And she's like, oh, you said you're on new medication. I was like, oh, I'm off it. I'm off it. It was just the steroids for my asthma. Yeah, volatile on steroids. Five days, steroids. I'm off. it, I'm better, I'm good, so I can breathe.
Starting point is 00:25:41 And she was like, oh, no, you can't donate for four weeks after that. So hold on. The whole point of the last three minutes and 45 seconds, talking about donating blood. You didn't donate a drop of blood. What I did yesterday was tell everyone that I was saving lives, eat snacks from the people who actually are saving lives. I had the coffee, I had the snacks, and... Didn't get to do it.
Starting point is 00:26:07 I didn't get to do it. And she was like, I was really disappointed. She was like, oh, that's okay. You can go sit on the lounge and finish your snacks. They're like, thanks for eating all our lunch, though. That's gold. So I ate the snacks and left. See you guys.
Starting point is 00:26:23 John O'Ben and Megan, the podcast. Megan, you're family. Just not a big, I love you family. It's not our love language. We're more acts of service, I guess. I say it to my kids and my husband. but we, I've never, I'm pretty sure I've never heard I love you from them. We just know.
Starting point is 00:26:43 You know, okay, that's fine. Maybe does it mean that, because you did get home from an exam one day and said you got 80% and then you were told, you asked where was the other 20%? Yes, yeah, tough love. Striving, striving for success. I seem to remember birthday cards occasionally would say like lots of love. Oh yeah, okay. Let's see we get out next.
Starting point is 00:27:04 Let's try and call your dad, Wayne, and then, you know, give it a go. Yep Wayno can volley back and I love you. Now you're going to have to try and do this. Try to this naturally. Yeah, like out of all the things you can make people to do on radio, like phone up and tell your parents you love them. That's radio in 2026, guys. Yeah, well, give it a go.
Starting point is 00:27:21 All right, good luck. Thanks. Will he answer the phone? Is he a pre-nine answerer of phones? Yeah, I think so, yeah. He's pretty good with his phone. Come on, Wayne. Hello.
Starting point is 00:27:38 That was, you wouldn't get a more on-brand. On brand moment right there Was that him? Yeah, yeah, yeah. He said, Wayne here. And then I got... How do you do that? How do you do what he just did?
Starting point is 00:27:51 I don't know. I can see why you never get a love you in there. He didn't do anything in there. He's figured out how to call back. Oh, yeah. Do we answer this? Yeah, go on. Well, he's going to know it's a radio bit now, but that's fine.
Starting point is 00:28:04 Okay, you... Hello? Hello? Oh, hi, hi. Wayne here. Yeah. Yeah, it's your daughter. Oh, oh.
Starting point is 00:28:12 Hi. I just jumped out of the shower, yeah. Oh, okay. How did you even hang up on me that fast? Oh, no. I just said to Ray, I've got to fix this phone. It doesn't ring long enough. She didn't answer it.
Starting point is 00:28:24 And I said, answer and answer it. She didn't. And I didn't, yeah, I've got a buddy try and find a way to make my rings go longer. Yeah. Yeah. Do you watch the Warriors last night? Nah. Honestly, all black.
Starting point is 00:28:38 I forgot about the worries. Oh, yeah. I look to go online, but yeah, yeah. Better result for the WAS than the Orblitz. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, no, they're up. Have you listened to my latest, um, podcast? Oh, I've got halfway through,
Starting point is 00:28:52 but I've got the first half sort of about, Liam, so it's just, I'm still, um, getting to the meat of, uh, the meat in the sandwich at the moment. I'm just waiting. Excuse me. Liam is the meat in the sandwich. Oh, well, yeah, he literally is, isn't he? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:29:07 Yeah, like I told you. Yeah, like I told you. You're at work, are you today? Yeah, I'm feeling a bit better, so. I was going to figure what the doctor said, but yeah, I forgot about that too much. You know what Ben's like, it got to drag my ass in, otherwise he'll drag my ass. I'll give you more shit about days off. Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:29:29 All right, well, you have a good day. I'll do that. Okay, up the way. Up the wise. Yeah, only for that two games are here anyway, yeah, until the final. all right I love you too much
Starting point is 00:29:42 bye bye he can tell he's like she bloody said she laughing right she said she loved me nothing you got it up the waz
Starting point is 00:29:52 he said love you and he was like all right maybe up the waz is New Zealand's love language maybe there's a love language he replied
Starting point is 00:30:02 you see up the waz and he came back with it up the waz you know that's good enough never have I called him just to have sports chat yeah and at no part was he ever questioning that whole interaction
Starting point is 00:30:12 just there too? John O'Bennon and Megan The podcast The Hits Megan you've done something I can admit I'm competitive I don't always think it's a bad thing It's not no it's made us weary of you
Starting point is 00:30:30 scares I was pretty for like a silver lining Yeah not it I mean and the dates back The more we learn about you It dates back to your father Wanting you to get better and better and drive you to success. What was the famous line when you came home?
Starting point is 00:30:43 I got 80% in my English exam, and I was stoked, that's an A. And Dad was like, what happened to the other 20%? Good stuff. That's character building. That's good. I don't know. It's made you a driven person, though.
Starting point is 00:30:56 Yes, and I think I might be passing it down. So I went to swimming lessons. It was Bashan. He did them when he was younger, but he's just going back to swimming lessons now as a five-year-old. And they were like, okay, while we assess where he's at, we'll put him in beginner one. And I was like, great.
Starting point is 00:31:14 And she made the mistake of saying to me that they have people going around on iPads. And so they kind of assess them as they go. And they look and they do like little, you know, they do little tests in the pool to see if they need to go up a level. Do some grading. Why is that a mistake her telling you how. Because I was like, all right, Bastie, we're going to go up a level. So he had to do it.
Starting point is 00:31:37 Is this day one of him swimming? Is it? Yes. Okay, all right. This isn't even like official. He's never even jumped into the pool before. Yeah. So he had to do a starfish on his face for four seconds and he had to hold it.
Starting point is 00:31:51 And like, it took him a couple of goes and I was like, Bastie, four seconds. You have to go on up a four seconds. You can do it, bud. You can do it. And I could hear myself. But I was like, I never know where the line is from encouraging to. So you're not saying this internally. Nope.
Starting point is 00:32:06 This is coming out of your mouth. Yep. In front of all the other people. Yep. So, and then he does, he ends up doing five seconds. And I was like, excelsing. Level up. Overshot it.
Starting point is 00:32:17 Get you to lie pad, mate. Do the level up on the pad. Then he had to doggie paddle across the little lane. And if he could do that, he could, they were like, okay, well, he's pretty competent. He can move up. And then he starts and I'm like, that's not doggy. But buddy, you've got to do your legs too. Do your legs too.
Starting point is 00:32:33 Come on. So he's doing his arms and he's like, kicking his legs. And then he stops halfway through. I was like, you've got to go all the way across. to the other side all the way across and he's like okay okay so he ends up doing it and just as the lady with the iPad comes over
Starting point is 00:32:46 and I'm like sitting there like perched on the edge of my seat and I was like this is it babe to my husband I was like this is it he's got to show them that he can do it I was like go bashin my husband's like you need to calm down you're in a frenzy he's like this isn't the Olympics
Starting point is 00:33:02 okay and as soon as they're done and they came over and she was like I think he needs to go up a level and like the elation I felt inside, I felt like he'd won a gold medal. And that level is Los Angeles Olympics, 2028. Afterwards, he was like...
Starting point is 00:33:17 This is the best swimmer I've ever seen at this age. He was like, I'm going to go up a level every lesson. I was like, if you set your mind to it, you can do whatever you want, buddy. Focus! I was like, you got it! And Andrew's like, as long as you have fun, it's all just to have fun and, you know,
Starting point is 00:33:32 it's about safety. And I was like, and you work hard and you can get that gold cap. I reckon you need to sit in the... the car yeah in the car park no Andrews already said you're not coming fair enough yeah yeah
