Starting point is 00:00:00 The Hits with Jono and Ben's Burner Phone Hello, kia ora, this is the Burner Phone with Jono and Ben and we've just been told the 100th episode of the Burner Phone Who would have thought when we started this 100 episodes ago Ben that we'd make it to this point one day Well that's true I probably just knowing us thought we would have petered out around about 45, 46. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:00:26 But we ploughed on. We have ploughed on through the burner phone. So thank you for everyone that's left us messages over the last 100 episodes. Are they episodes? What are these things? All those messages, they'll live on in our hearts forever. Your favorite message? Tanya from Taranaki has left some great messages as well.
Starting point is 00:00:43 We rang back some people. They all kind of blend into one, to be honest, but it's been a lot of fun. In fact, if we could replay, use this episode as a recap, I think probably the most enjoyable moment that we ever experienced on the burner phone was phoning Tanya. Now, off air, I had called her a number of times just trying to get her
Starting point is 00:01:06 to answer the phone, and then when she eventually answered... Remember, we've got to say, yo, who dis? Sounds like an absolute character. Who the fuck is this constantly harassing my phone? Oh, hello. It's just Jono and Ben.
Starting point is 00:01:32 Oh, fuck. Oh, my God. I am so sorry. I was like, geez, how many times have we run? This never just won't stop. Good morning. I'm sorry. I woke up on the wrong side of the bed again.
Starting point is 00:01:52 Jeez. I'm so sorry. That's all right. Don't be sorry. It's all good. Well, Jono tried multiple times. He tried you from the normal line, then the hot line, and then from another line.
Starting point is 00:02:02 So I'll try one more time. And he pushed it too far That's all me, Tanya Oh my god, I'm so sorry Don't be sorry, it's funny, it's made our day It's been great I think the best phone answer I've ever had Oh my god
Starting point is 00:02:22 Lovely to finally try finally Have we interrupted you Mid sleep Have you just woken up No no no I wasn't Anyway We've just We've just immensely
Starting point is 00:02:32 Enjoyed your Friendly messages Over the last two days Oh thank you Yeah A real juxtaposition From what we just got in So that was
Starting point is 00:02:42 That was That was probably My highlight Of the Burnaphone Over the 100 episodes If you had one Standout moment so that was that was that was probably my highlight of the Burnaphone over the 100 episodes if you had one standout moment we had a great
Starting point is 00:02:49 conversation with her afterwards then I think the next day as well she apologised she's like sorry you're like
Starting point is 00:02:54 I don't apologise you'd been harassing her like multiple times on different numbers no need to apologise it's actually literally we'll probably put that
Starting point is 00:03:01 in the radio awards 2024 that one sounds like I'm joking but I know we will it was yeah that was a great moment so It's actually literally, we'll probably put that in the Radio Awards 2024, that one. Who are they? It sounds like I'm joking, but I know we will. Yeah, that was a great moment. So yeah, 100 years, here's to 100 more. What do you want to achieve over the next 100 episodes?
Starting point is 00:03:15 Well, let's pull back the curtain a bit. We've got a meeting about the podcast and the burner phone next week. So I guess we'll be wanting to achieve another hundred if we decide to continue on with it or do another podcast is it a come to Jesus I don't think it's a come to Jesus
Starting point is 00:03:30 thing you just want to know that if you're putting time into something you want to give people what they want yeah you know
Starting point is 00:03:37 so I enjoy doing it it's a lot of fun and I love the messages coming through and it works really well when we've got let's be honest when we've got
Starting point is 00:03:44 prizes to give away yeah it does you know you do you do this is uh otherwise it doesn't work that well yeah uh yeah i've got a carrot dangler of either a you know voucher for mcdonald's or petrol or you know a cash dangler or even a dilmar tea voucher there ben then people are like oh geez i really want to ask these guys this is the question to ask. It gives people a good reason for doing it. And to be fair, who really does enjoy leaving voicemails? So you do need to lure them in, don't you? I mean, it's not one of life's enjoyable tasks. No, clearing voicemails, leaving voicemails really have set up.
Starting point is 00:04:17 I always leave one thinking in the back of my mind, no one's going to listen to this. And when they do, it's going to be months, weeks or months past. Yeah, sometimes it's better to be yeah months weeks or months past yeah sometimes it's better I think my message just says send me a text because I won't probably clear it so yeah
Starting point is 00:04:31 honesty brutal honesty yeah any prior my mum she'll go oh hi it's just me I'll text you so she's told me on the voicemail
Starting point is 00:04:39 and then she texts you like I get the message via text you'll get the missed call probably her number comes up on your phone, all those sorts of things. She likes to close the loop, doesn't she?
Starting point is 00:04:48 Fair enough. Yeah. Well, thank you very much for listening to The Burner Phone. And if you'd like to leave a message, no prizes attached.
