The Hits with Jono and Ben's Burnaphone do you know? Do you think internationally speaking? Guten Tag? Oh yeah, you've probably nailed a lot of them.
What's the most,
I mean obviously
Kyoto in New Zealand
is a great one,
isn't it?
I don't know any languages.
I mean,
all I can do
in French
is
Bonjour,
Je m'appelle,
Je n'étais.
So what's that?
Is that hello,
my name is Jonathan?
Hello,
my name is Jonathan.
That's all I've got.
And I remember that
from Mrs. Fryer,
my fourth form French teacher.
That's good though.
It's still there.
Great day too when she would bring croissants in.
And she's like, we're going to experience the taste of France.
We all got to have croissants.
Really enjoyed that.
Croissants and hot chocolate.
That's nice.
That's nice.
Isn't it amazing how quickly stuff drops out of your head?
I mean, I would have done two years of that, and that's the only thing I can remember.
It does go quickly, though, doesn't it?
I really wish I'd learned a lot more, like more languages and stuff.
Feels like something that if you get onto it early,
you absorb it better.
And that's what adults say when they get to a stage,
you're like, oh, I'm too far gone.
Well, you did Toreo for a year or two.
Yeah, and I liked it.
Well, it was throughout one year, but I'd like to go back and do more.
It ended up being online towards the end of it because of COVID, and I found that to, well, it was throughout one year, but I'd like to go back and do more. It ended up being online
towards the end of it
because of COVID
and I found that a lot harder
when you're not in the room
and you're doing it over Zoom.
How are you digesting the language?
Do you think you're learning it?
Yeah, but not as well,
definitely not as well over Zoom.
Like I really like being in the room
and just asking questions.
It's, when you're on Zoom,
it takes a lot more to go,
and now I'm going to unmute
and now I'm going to talk to everyone.
It just feels like an extra step in the process when you're in class.
You just go, sorry, excuse me, how's that?
Yeah, and it's always fumbly on Zoom if you both start talking at the same time
because people are in the same position, Ben.
No one wants to step out in front of a Zoom call, do they?
No, exactly.
But there we go.
Today's message.
If you would like to call the Burner phone,
feel free to text
Burner phone to 4487
and you can leave a message on our
voicemail like this.
Hello, is this
Johnno in
Burn? Where is
my order of
sharks with lasers on
their heads?
You know who to call back.
This is Dr. Evil.
Okay?
Dr. Evil.
If you do not call me back,
I will kidnap your family
and I want one billion dollars.
Okay?
Thank you.
Mimi, hang up the phone.
There you go. So that is a Dr. Evil impersonation there
That was Dr. Evil
That wasn't an impersonation, that was Dr. Evil
I liked it, it was good
I thought he was going to swear a few times, I won't lie
He did well
Far better than I can do at impersonations
Yeah, baby
Yeah, Lost in Powers
It was great, I mean, of its Powers was a, it was great.
I mean, of its time, huge movie.
And I do remember, I did love that scene the first time he saw it,
where he'd been frozen for all those years, Dr. Evil,
and then came back and he's like, we demanded a million dollars.
And everyone's like, oh, that's not that much money now, you know?
But it was.
For a while, a million dollars was like, oh, that was huge.
It was a lot of cash.
Yeah.
Now to buy your bloody laundry room in a central city house. Oh, I know. So that was, I did, that was huge. It was a lot of cash. Yeah. Now to buy you a bloody laundry room in a central city house.
Oh, I know.
So that was, I did appreciate that gag.
And, you know, shagadelic.
Oh, yeah.
Yeah, baby.
I mean, he created a whole new vernacular in that movie.
I did put it on recently, and I know a lot of things don't, you know,
like don't stand the test of time.
But I did notice with the kids, I was like, oh, it's a fun movie.
There's a lot of like,
he's really quite horny, isn't he?
He is very,
like he'd be a nightmare with HR, wouldn't he?
And that's kind of,
you forget about that.
You forget it.
For some reason,
I was like, oh, Austin Powers,
it's kind of like a fun,
it's a comedy.
And then you're like,
oh, he's got a pump for making his thing bigger
and all sorts, you know,
there's a lot of,
I was like, oh, okay, maybe.
He's almost borderline pesty isn't
he yeah so i was like maybe and that was the time i guess not saying it was a randy time it was this
he was like 70s or whatever that was the character so i guess it was free love and all that sort of
stuff but i'm like it seemed like everyone was obliging yeah didn't they yeah but i'm just like
a lot of sex though with the kids i was like well then maybe this is maybe we should watch track
where he voices the you know trick or something you know like a bloody dog on heat wasn't he and then i remember ladies with
chesty guns didn't he yeah you're right yeah um but you know i thought that's that movie what's
okay if you're gonna put let's rank your one movie if you were to play someone one movie that just
summed up the human race.
It's so hard, this.
I was actually, we were talking to someone we know, Dom,
who works for a company.
And he's a media guy, writes film reviews.
And I think the company's called Letterboxd.
And he was saying that he goes around and talks to famous actors
about their four favorite movies.
And I was like, I would struggle so much in the moment
to think about my four favorite movies. I guess his actors do as would struggle so much in the moment to think about
my four favorite movies his actors do as well because you're like you're like i like that movie
i like that movie and then but yeah it's just like you know if i was going to play anyone one movie
yeah it would probably be shawshank redemption oh that is a really good yeah that is a great
movie but then for me i'm like i wouldn't watch that every week, say.
No.
But if you've got one chance to impress someone with one movie.
Google it.
Oh, bloody Forrest, Forrest Gump.
All time.
What are they saying is the greatest movie of all time?
Box Office would be Titanic or something crazy, wouldn't it?
Yeah, and also Avatar's pretty big.
On IMDb, Shawshank Redemption is actually number one.
You're right.
So there you go.
The Godfather, Dark Knight in there as well.
Schindler's List, Lord of the Rings.
Pulp Fiction, great movie.
Fantastic.
Do you know Pulp Fiction?
When it played at Cannes, the film festival,
that was on this week actually,
they gave Johnny Depp A seven minute standing ovation
Jesus that's a lot of standing
And clapping
Isn't it?
Yeah
There was the longest one
22 minutes the longest
Standing ovation
You'd need
I think your hands
Would go into trauma
That's huge
Clapping so long
But anyway
Pulp Fiction
Great
Booed
Booed when it played at Cannes
Booed?
Really?
It booed off
Like at the end it was a
Booed
It was a stink movie
And look at the market made
on cinematic history.
Looking through these
things there's a lot of
great movies in there
but yeah it's like
you're right if you've
got one chance to play
a movie maybe something
like Shawshank
Redemption is a good
one.
If I was going to
watch something every
week for some reason
I'd watch something like
Happy Gilmore or
something for me you
know.
If I was watching every
week it's like it's
easy.
Anchorman for me probably
yeah things like that
I love Alf at Christmas time
Will Ferrell
I would watch that yearly
once a year
I'd watch that
you know
but some of these movies
great movies in there
A Green Mile
another great one
oh yes boss
yeah it's a great movie
it's a very very good movie
that's in the top 20 as well
so there we go
this is John on bed
just reminisce about movies
that
whatever we're saying
now, it doesn't matter. It's not going to make any impact
on anyone. It's not going to change the film industry
as it currently stands.
But it might
What?
You just kind of trailed out there.
I was just going to say something about
your sex tape.
And then you stopped.
And then you said, what were you going to say?
And I brought it up.
I shouldn't have brought it up.
You should learn now.
We've worked together long enough
that if I stop myself,
it's probably something
that you don't want to hear.
Here's a fun thing.
Here's a fun thing.
Moving on from my sex tape.
That was actually the name of it.
It's not even in the top 100.
Here's a fun thing.
The bad boy sex tape.
Here's a fun thing.
And it wasn't.
There was no fun things at all.
It was very misleading.
Why don't you,
if you're listening to,
like,
God forbid,
if you've gone all the way through this
and you've got to this point here,
God forbid.
Why don't you message us
on the burner phone
with the one movie?
The one movie.
So just leave a message.
You just say the movie
and we'll see how many of those
we can play
next time on the burner phone.
Oh, yes.
The one movie you'd play
to impress someone who'd never watched movies. Yeah. So you on the Burner Phone. Oh, yes. The one movie you'd play to impress someone
who'd never watched movies.
So you just give us a call.
Well, text Burner Phone to 4487.
We'll flick you back the number.
Then just leave us a message
and just go,
Star Wars,
or whatever movie you want to do.
Yeah.
I reckon you'd have to,
you'd start with a real person movie first.
Because then you want to build them up
to special effects.
Don't you?
You're like, yeah,
that was one with just people in it. Check this thing out now look at this yeah yeah and a lot
of movies you watch them as a kid you're like oh my god this is amazing and you watch them now
you're like oh that was slow and the effects are terrible and but in your mind but you're right
okay so text burner phone to 4487 and then give us a call. Tell us the one movie that you'd tell someone to watch.
If you want to join the Burn a Phone podcast,
text BURNAPHONE to 4487 and we'll send you our digits.
