Starting point is 00:00:00 The Hits with Jono and Ben's Burner Phone We do a podcast called The Burner Phone We've got a number you can text Burner Phone to 4487 actually If you want our cell phone number Leave us a voicemail We clear one per day And sometimes the voicemails are so salacious Ben boys They're too good for the internet
Starting point is 00:00:19 Yeah Nothing's too good for the internet if you've seen the internet But we bring them on to mainstream media The drongos bring them on to mainstream media. The drongos bring this on to mainstream radio. And quite an interesting conundrum here. Have a listen. Hey, John, I'm Ben.
Starting point is 00:00:33 This is Lily. I just found out that my husband has a second email address, which he accidentally emailed me from on the weekend. I asked him about it. He said it's just for online purchases. Do you think I should ask to see the email account or do you think I should just ignore it and pretend like it's nothing? Thanks.
Starting point is 00:00:51 I love that these people come to us for advice. Yeah. We couldn't come to two more uncertified people for advice on relationships. No, but we're just really bringing it to a whole wider amount of people. You're right. So it's not really about us. It's about us just now bringing it to a whole wider amount of people. So it's not really about us. It's about us just now bringing it now.
Starting point is 00:01:08 We've done our bit. No one wants to hear what we have to say. To an audience of Dr. Phil's. Yeah. People that wouldn't probably know. You like to bring it closer to home. Would I be suspicious? Absolutely.
Starting point is 00:01:20 Well, you would. You would be. If you found out it was someone you lived with for an extended period of time, had a secret email address, you're thinking of the be. If you found out someone you lived with for an extended period of time had a secret email address, you're thinking of the worst things, aren't you? I'm thinking, all I'm thinking, first thing, is streaming service. You get another week free. Multiple people have multiple email addresses.
Starting point is 00:01:34 Oh, yeah. No, true. And online purchases, if that's the justification, I'm going, oh, that makes sense. Or maybe he likes to have an email address that he just buys her presents. Doesn't want to ruin the surprise. Oh, yeah. You don't want things popping back into it. Yeah, so I'm kind of like, that he just buys her presents. Doesn't want to ruin the surprise. Oh yeah, you don't want things popping back into a thing. Yeah, so I'm kind of like, that's what I'm thinking. I know
Starting point is 00:01:48 a lot of people have multiple email addresses to just get free week's subscription or month's subscription for streaming services. Maybe he also likes a false email address so he can jump under the bottom of political articles and write nasty things in the comment section as well. Or true, an alias. Troll politicians. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:02:03 So there are legitimate reasons There could be, yeah. why you have a second secret email address. Probably just the fact that it's never been brought up. It's probably the one that's sitting in Lily's head in the back of her mind, I imagine. I get that. It wouldn't worry me at all.
Starting point is 00:02:18 It totally wouldn't worry me at all, but I can see why if there was any doubt there and any things going on, then that could cause concern. Okay, let's just say the laptop's open. It's on the kitchen bench. The secret email window's there. Are you perusing?
Starting point is 00:02:32 Are you having a little fossick? I'm not going through. You're sticking your nose in there. No, I'm not clicking on emails or going through it or anything like that. Just leave it just like that? Yeah, if there's something up and open, I'm like, oh, what's that open? But I'm not going. So you're doing a look from a distance. Oh, it's an email. Oh, no, no. Yeah, and I give them something up and over, and I'm like, oh, what's that open? But I'm not going. Oh, so you'll do a look from a distance.
Starting point is 00:02:46 Oh, it's an email. Oh, no, no. Yeah, right. You're not doing deep diving. Not deep diving. Hey, 0800, that's telephone number 4487. If you just discovered that the person you're with has a secret email address, are you suspicious? Are you asking them to see it?
Starting point is 00:03:00 Or do you just leave it? And like Ben says, it's been used for nefarious streaming purposes. Maybe. We don't know. We need your help. Yeah. It's an interesting one, isn't it? I said suspicions would be raised immediately, and maybe that's the pessimist in me.
Starting point is 00:03:14 And that's only because I know what I'd be up to if I had a secret second email address, all sorts of shenanigans online. We've got a joint email, Ben, don't we? Yeah. For business purposes. We do. But geez, the amount of credit I've ticked up under your name on that email. Well, true.
Starting point is 00:03:27 Can be done. But there are multiple reasons. Instead of jumping to the worst conclusion, there are multiple reasons why you would have more than one email address. Yeah, well, there is. But let's put it to you because we don't really know these things. And that's why the hits audience is so great. Let's go to anonymous.
Starting point is 00:03:42 Welcome. You're on. Love it when an anonymous caller joins the show. Makes us sound, gives us cred, street cred, that we're much needed street cred anonymous. So even though there are legitimate reasons why people would have a secret email address or just a second or a third or a fourth,
Starting point is 00:04:03 I use it for the things that you guys mentioned earlier um like buying things online but i did initially this is a few years ago when i used to be married um unhappily uh used to talk to my ex through it so definitely definitely would check to see the email address. I did a few weird dodgy things when I was younger. And that email address, I mean, I no longer use it, but because I've done it, I definitely have suspicions. And did your former husband? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:04:45 Did he ever see the email address or what was in the account? No. Okay. Well, good to know. Thank you for sharing. So look at that email. If it says unhappily married at Gmail. We all make mistakes, mate.
Starting point is 00:05:02 We all make mistakes. And thank you very much for sharing your mistakes on the radio show Have a good one mate Keep safe Someone's texting 4487 Another one As the owner of a secret email address Yes she should be concerned
Starting point is 00:05:16 There's no point in asking to see it Everything will be deleted If it was for streaming He wouldn't be logged into it to email her accidentally from the account. That's someone texting on 4487. Debbie joining the debate. Lily, does she have reason to be concerned about the email? Yeah, I mean, well, I mean, I've got two email addresses.
Starting point is 00:05:39 So I might have for like, you know, when you're not just buying online, but if it's just random things that you want to like have information back from. But I have a like, what I call my important one, which is what I give to banks and the school if the kids need, you know, school could be contacting or you signed up to like, you know, gym classes or whatever, stuff like that. Things that you want to be in touch with and you don't think they're going to spam you. Because otherwise the important emails get lost in the 35 spam emails that you get freaking every day. Right. Yeah, okay, you've got the junk email address. That's smart.
Starting point is 00:06:16 Someone's texting in saying, I've got eight email addresses for various reasons. All above board, all legitimate. So there are reasons to have the email addresses as well i have 32 another text for email addresses that's definitely someone who's doing some romance scams online doing some swindling so there we go thank you very much for your calls and text lily i guess it's probably a case of having a chat with them yeah saying can you show me the files
Starting point is 00:06:43 and if not then you're gonna have to leave him okay that's the that's the sensible option and that's the end of the story okay thank you very much
