The Hits with Jono and Ben's Burnaphone kids when you watch things like that you did it went to a speech competition the other day and you just just really marvel at the uh the talent yeah i had to judge a speech competition the other
day that was hard work really difficult judging people when i'm not a huge expert when it comes
to speeches um but yeah it feels like kids in general are a lot more talented than when we
were kids that's how I feel looking back.
Yeah.
Yeah, and I probably agree with that.
Put it down to technology too, access to information as well.
Yeah, and probably kids are just a lot more into,
you know, there is people that, you know,
say they spend too much time on devices,
but kids are into a lot more variety of things,
it seems like at the moment.
You know, there's kids on the show,
they're all singing, they're dancing,
they're cartwheeling, they're doing all sorts.
It's incredible.
Now, your daughter Sienna had to do a joint cartwheel
with another person.
So were they attached, were they?
It was a double, yeah, double cartwheel.
Double cartwheel.
And they had to do six of them without stopping.
In the middle of like a song,
the whole song they had the two of them on stage.
So they're singing and cartwheeling.
Singing and stage.
Jesus.
And I knew in my head that I was like,
they were singing and it was awesome,
they were doing it,
and then I was like,
oh, there's the cartwheel bits coming up.
In my head, if I was here,
I'd just be thinking nothing.
About the cartwheel.
The cartwheel.
Cartwheel, be a cartwheel.
Got to nail the cartwheel
because that was the end of the song.
And they nailed it.
It was awesome.
But they nailed the rest of the song,
but I would have been just thinking about the cartwheel
and probably screwing up everything else.
It feels like a wildly unnecessary manoeuvre
to the song and dance. Yeah. Doesn't the cartwheel? It does. The forbidden cartwheel about the cartwheel and probably screwing up everything else it feels like a wildly unnecessary maneuver to the song and dance yeah yeah the cartwheel but the forbidden
cart double cartwheel attached together but jesus nailed it got a huge round of applause
i'd be huffing and puffing yeah they did it really the fit and it was awesome it was very proud so
they did a great job so um yeah anyway so ben uh we must apologize because we're actually going to
take hold of the burner phone ourselves
for selfish purposes today in the episode because something was mentioned on the terrestrial radio show.
We just got talking about airdrop as a function.
You know, on your phone, you can airdrop.
I'm not going to mansplain airdropping.
People know what it is.
Yeah.
And I was just saying someone airdropped me a photo of a kebab in the food court yesterday at the mall.
It was a good looking kebab.
I don't know where it came from.
And the real life equivalent we're saying is just going up to someone's face and just shoving a kebab in their face.
Take a look at this, mate.
But you had an airdrop incident with Vaughan Smith, breakfast host of Fletch and Vaughan and Hayley on ZM.
Yeah, well, it was years ago.
I think I was at another show.
I feel like it might have been a musical. Jeez, you love at another show. I feel like it might have been a musical.
Jeez, you love your musicals.
I feel like it might have been Matilda.
I feel like it might have been Matilda the musical.
And yeah, I had a moment when my wife and I,
we took a photo on the way in
and I was sitting next to my wife and Amanda.
She's like, oh, can you airdrop me that photo?
The nice photo that we took outside.
No worries.
And she popped up and everyone else's eardrop pops up.
And just as I went to click on her name,
they kind of pop up randomly.
Yeah, they do.
Yeah, once they connect.
And this one kind of snuck in and I was like,
oh, I thought I was going to have Amanda, my wife.
And then I was like, oh, that's Vaughn Smith's eardrop.
So it went straight to his phone.
And he was sitting,
as luck would have it, a couple of rows in front of me.
And I just watched in horror as I could see him So it went straight to his phone. And he was sitting, as luck would have it, a couple of rows in front of me.
And I just watched in horror as I could see him sort of get his phone,
look at it and go, whoo.
And then he kind of like.
Was he looking around?
Turned around.
Yeah, he turned around.
How did you acknowledge the moment? I had to sort of smile and stuff as well.
And then I think I might have gone, I'll turn this into a gag
because I couldn't talk to him.
And I tried to take another one or like a thumbs up to send back to him
or something, but I don't know if that got through.
Because if your fiver is back, you can't explain what's going on.
I was like, oh, mate, just the eardrop situation.
I imagine because the photo wasn't taken when you're sitting down either.
It's an outside photo.
So is he like, what are they proposing here?
What do they want to?
These two, yeah, there's this couple.
We're like, hey, do you like the look of this couple?
So I just asked, I wonder if it's still in his photo stream.
I doubt it would be, but hey.
I don't know if he'll remember it, but I definitely do.
We're going to give him a call now.
Okay, going through to Vaughan.
Hopefully he answers.
Hello?
He does answer.
Vaughan, it's Jono and Ben, mate.
Hey, how are you?
Yeah, good.
Listen, sorry to blindside you like this.
You're part of our Burner Phone podcast.
Okay.
It's not as successful as your podcast, so you don't need to worry.
Yeah, listen.
Well, no, it's always nice to spread the wings and try these little niche.
What is this, a niche podcast?
It's pretty niche.
Very niche.
Very, very niche.
A bespoke artisanal podcast.
Underground.
We like to keep it niche.
We don't want it getting too big.
Yeah, no.
No, no, no.
Now, Vaughan, we want to cast your mind back to the premiere of Matilda.
I was telling Giorno a story.
I think it was Matilda.
It was a few years ago.
We were at the Civic, and my wife said to me,
could you airdrop a photo, the nice photo that two of us took,
in the foyer?
And I went to do that to send it to my wife,
and then, as luck would have it, your airdrop popped up at the same time,
and I pushed on your one by mistake,
and I think I sent you a photo a cute photo of my wife
and I and you were a couple of rows in front and I remember you looking around like why would he
send me this photo what is he what yeah so I want to apologize for this and John I want to know do
you still have the photo is it still on your photo stream no it's framed on the wall
it was a significantly nicer photo than I managed to take with my wife that night.
Also, I believe it was Priscilla Queen of the Desert.
Oh, is that what it was?
Oh, yes.
Okay.
Were you a little put off when it landed on your phone?
No.
No, no.
I did like it when it popped up.
There was a moment of confusion, but I was just thankful it wasn't dreadlocks era.
Yeah, true. Yeah, you're right. It was clean cut clean cut era yeah that probably wouldn't have been on the wall in the lounge
fair enough to be honest fair enough no fair enough john i was thinking well maybe i was
looked like i was proposing something that my wife and i were like hey what do you think it
might have looked like a some sort of indecent proposal ah flattered flattered as i was
that didn't even cross my mind okay good good oh well i think we just need to be a little bit more
direct if you're proposing my wife and i we're country folk we're very simple we need to scout
out just an orgy question mark yeah that sort of thing okay good okay good. Okay, next time. All right. Well, thank you.
It's pride of place in the lounge, that photo.
Thank you very much, Ford.
Oh, no, thanks, guys.
Cheers.
We'll continue on with our niche podcast.
Yeah, get on there.
Thanks, mate.
Okay.
He didn't find it weird.
I got the musical wrong.
I'm sorry.
Geez, I've been to another musical.
There you go.
