We're back with the Burner Phone.
It's been a little while since we've done one of these,
and there's a lot of messages we need to clear through,
which is great, but it doesn't mean you can't.
You need to stop leaving us a message.
If you want the number for the Burner Phone, text BURNER to 4487.
We'll flick you back the number, and you can leave us a message.
We'll clear one a day.
I have a question I want an honest answer from you, Ben.
Do you think people noticed we were Ben. Do you think people noticed
we were gone? Do you think people noticed the burner
phone was gone?
Well, maybe if you've got it on your podcast.
You know, if you've subscribed to it,
then you do notice sometimes it doesn't pop up.
You know?
Okay, why don't you leave us a message
on the burner phone? Who's the most
loyal listener to this?
Oh, the burner phone. To the burner phone. Yeah.
That'd be nice.
We have fun doing it because we never know what's going to happen or where it's going to end up.
But has it got a fan base?
Has it got an audience?
That's my question.
Well, yeah.
If you want to deep dive on the numbers, we can do that.
Producer Joel, come in here, mate.
But we're also giving away a $50 challenge petrol voucher
for every message that we use.
So, and if that's not,
that's probably why the phone's been blowing up.
But there's a lot of people blowing up. But if that's not
incentive to just phone up and leave an inane
voicemail. Yeah, get some, yeah,
you know. Producer Joel,
so come in here, this is the wonderful producer Joel
Harrison. What are the numbers on this show, mate?
Oh mate, through the roof at the moment.
I think we get about, you want the honest?
Yeah, yeah.
Don't go numbers.
Don't go the actual numbers.
Just go like, you know, percentages.
Make it Trump.
Trumpify it, mate.
Percentages.
I think if you want year on year, I think this.
It's building by like, you know.
Compared to what it was doing last year, a thousand percent.
I know, yeah, because it wasn't existing last year, but I like it.
I think in general,
the podcast overall this year
is up year on year.
So look, that's a positive.
YOY is what they say in the business world.
Exactly.
More people listening.
And also, I think probably Ange
is the most loyal listener.
Oh, yeah.
Ange from Hamilton.
She's great.
She's awesome.
We do love Ange.
Thank you very much.
Thank you for giving us percentages.
I love you.
Don't give us real numbers.
You know when someone's giving you a percentage,
you're like, shit, this is bleak.
I don't know if it is or it isn't, but I just, you know.
Okay, great.
The main thing is we're having fun doing it.
That's probably not the main thing.
The main thing is you probably want people to listen to it.
But here we go.
Here's today's message.
Hi, guys.
I just wanted to go see my partner.
He went out last night to get some alcohol, i haven't seen him since his name's ray thanks
i haven't seen i haven't seen ray have you seen ray she sounds very calm for a lady who's missing
ray doesn't she she sounds very like i'd probably be a little more flustered if i was in her position
oh yeah i i don't know i haven't i
don't think i've seen ray but then um i'm not sure what way ray looks like where he's been
what's the longest time you've gone missing off the grid ben boys no one's everyone's like where's
ben off the crash yeah i don't i i don't know you'd be you know i mean back in the day when
you didn't have phones it was probably a lot longer now you know like now you're almost
you know unless your phone dies or you leave it somewhere
or you lose it, you feel like you're always kind of contactable.
But back in the day, you definitely weren't.
There were some weekends in my 20s, you'd go missing for three days,
wouldn't you?
Exactly, yeah.
And go away.
Yeah, but nowadays you'd probably text and be like, you're live?
And they'd go, yeah, barely, and that would be it.
Yeah, barely.
I'm going to call this wonderful lady and see if Ray returned home
because I don't know when this was actually left, this message.
Hopefully Ray's all right.
Okay, let's bet.
Is Ray still out and about having a good time?
Or has Ray returned home?
I'm going to say he's returned home.
This is Lisa.
We're phoning here.
Hopefully she answers.
Lisa, is that you coming?
Lisa, John Owen Ben, the burner phone.
Hello, John Owen Ben.
Sorry, let's go have a shower.
Do you know why on why this podcast up 1,000% on last year, Lisa?
Yeah.
Yeah, that's good.
Those are good stats.
Lisa, did Ray return home?
He finally returned home, but he was drunk.
Oh, so he went out to get booze, and then he must have,
well, he did, he obviously got the booze,
and he brought it home in his stomach, I guess, in some ways.
Yeah, I think he met his bloody friends and started,
well, stuff the old lady.
She's just at home, you know, doing the washing and dinner.
So this was your phone in the day after
though, weren't you? You said he went out last night.
So did he, hell of a night for Ray?
Yeah, he came back home around
about dinner time the next night.
Did he? And did he have
much recollection of what happened
throughout that 24 hours?
I don't think he wanted to tell me. He couldn't remember a thing.
How were you? You seemed very
calm. Is this a regular occurrence with Ray?
No, no.
Well, this day when he walked in, he goes,
what's for dinner?
And the dog got all his dinner in her mouth.
Well, it actually was scotch for the steak and everything.
So the dog was all right.
Oh, the dog got a great day.
First thing he comes home and says, what's for dinner?
What does every man say at that time of night?
What a legend.
He's stressing.
I'd be like, oh, I'm sorry.
I've made a terrible mistake.
You're right.
I'm glad Ray's safe.
I'm very glad Ray's safe.
And do you know the good news for you, Lisa?
What's that?
Just simply for leaving a message on the burner phone.
You've won a Challenge Petrol Service Station gift card.
$50 worth.
Well, you can go and fill up the car with that then, can't you?
Yeah, he bloody should.
He bloody should.
Make sure he does that.
Come back straight away.
I'm just going to go fill the car up four days later.
Exactly.
Exactly.
