The Hits with Jono and Ben's Burnaphone means though no i don't know well i mean it's a milestone reaching 100 of whatever this is
yeah isn't it actually uh it's a lot of fun this you don't we go you go into it cold you don't
know what's going to happen we don't know what the message is and if you'd like to leave us one
you can text 4487 can we get producer taylor in here um because she's what's she got what's going
on uh she's in the midst of a looks like a very important conversation? What's going on?
She's in the midst of what looks like a very important conversation.
What's going on?
What do you want to ask Taylor?
No, I just want to talk to Taylor about her soft girl era.
I thought we should definitely delve into the soft girl era. Part of the Taylor Swift era's tour, the soft girl era.
Taylor Swift's doing her eras, you're right.
But producer Taylor, You're saying this is
Your soft girl era
What are you
What are you meaning by that
I don't know if you guys
Have noticed
But I'm quite a passionate person
You are very passionate
Italians are though
Yeah so like
We do love that about you
You're awesome
You know you fight hard
For the show
Which is great
Thank you
Yeah so things that
Probably you guys
Wouldn't even
Turn a blind eye to
Like you wouldn't react
That really boils like my
blood like i don't know if someone cuts me off in the traffic like i go off do you go road ragey
really right i'm from sydney yeah right like things like that if someone doesn't reply to
my email within like two hours i'm like what the hell like what are they doing like yeah and i was
listening to a podcast the other day and said said if you're triggered, you should be interested into why those things trigger you
because it only hurts you, not the other person, you know.
That's a good way to think of it.
But, you know, you come from your bloodline.
I know.
As passionate, fiery people.
It is.
That's what Italians are.
It's your whole family.
You're all just like yelling at each other the whole time.
Yeah, and that's why I'm so loud because my whole life I was never heard
because you just compete with each other
yeah right so now you say stuff and then you go oh soft girl era afterwards yeah so I know I'm
probably still doing as much damage but I feel like mentally when I say oh but that's but it's
soft girl era then I kind of like reset I'm like well it doesn't count then I feel like in some
ways I love it but I also feel like it's something where they say no offence, but, and then they say the
thing they wanted to say anyway. I feel like
a little bit, you still get fired up, I mean you've got a
soft girl era, but you kind of...
Yeah, the blood pressure is definitely still being raised.
But like, I'll get better.
Because you'll be like, yeah you fucking, you fucking
bitch, you fucking bitch.
Soft girl era, soft girl era. So you're still releasing
that energy. Yeah, but
as long as I counter it,
I feel like people, if someone's getting offended,
they can't really, because yeah, my soft girl air,
so it doesn't count.
Has there been a moment recently where you've actually,
you've bitten your tongue and you're like, no, no,
I'm not even going to.
Yes, actually.
Oh, good.
Last night when I didn't have any Wi-Fi.
Oh, yeah.
The old me would have probably gone found Marcelo wherever he
was stolen his phone and like sent a really abrupt email to mobiles here to
the provider yeah I did I just said you know what it's play good to have no
yeah but then I brought that energy into the show this like you did you came in
this morning and you were like steamed up because you couldn't get – you were really –
and you were emailing people off and you're like,
my fucking 20 fucking gigabit.
So was Marcel's phone not available to Hotspot?
He wasn't home at the time.
I see.
And so I couldn't even reach him unless it was the old school
green text message.
Yeah.
So I didn't even know if those were going through
because I didn't know if that's still a thing.
Yeah.
SMS.
Yeah.
Back to the old school. Yeah. So anyway, the – I can't even know if those were going through Because I don't know if that's still a thing SMS Yeah Taking it back to the old school
Yeah so
Anyway
The
I can't imagine Marcelo
He seems like a pretty even keeled sort of person
Yeah he's so chill until
Until it's been taken too far
Alright
And then he puts me
To shame mate
Like it's like
I'll be
A lot of people are like that though
Yeah You know like it gets to a point And you're like alright enough's enough So I'll be, if I'm going to fight. A lot of people are like that though. You know,
it gets to a point
and you're like,
all right,
enough's enough.
I understand that.
If we're fighting
and I've taken it a step too far,
I like just cry
because you cry.
That's an easy way.
Right?
Not to him.
I'll be bawling.
He goes,
yeah,
cry,
cry.
Because you weren't upset
two seconds ago
when you said that.
I'm like,
what the?
And then it just ends up.
You guys are great.
You need a reality show. You do.
Mixing with the Montoyas.
That's a good name.
We'll produce it.
You guys have connections. What's up?
Those connections aren't doing much at the moment.
It might work if we use you.
Well, thank you, Taylor.
There you go. Taylor and her soft girl
Erin here is today's message for the Burner phone.
Yo, yo, yo.
Bono and Jono and Ben.
Sorry.
I'm just cooking some mussels up.
I need saffron, cream sauce.
Anywho, when you do call me, make sure you say, yo, who dis?
And I'll say, of course, who dat?
My question is, when are you coming back to the Naki?
New Plymouth.
That's my question.
And actually, I got quite a few.
Who's single?
Who not?
Who there? Who not? Who dare?
Who not?
Anyways, awesome jobs, guys.
Keep going.
You make my day rock.
Ciao, guys.
That's the same lady from yesterday.
That's a lovely message.
So good.
Who's single?
Who not?
That was lovely.
That's why we like doing the Benafone messages like that.
It was so cool.
Steamed mussels with saffron and wine.
That sounds delicious, doesn't it?
Oh, it does sound good.
When are we going back to Taranaki?
I hear it's wonderful to go to the concerts at the Bowl.
The Bowl of Brooklands.
Yeah, apparently incredible there.
The Natural Amputee Theatre.
But there's also a pond there,
and I think people end up in the pond and stuff.
Very toxic.
Yeah.
So there's a pond, I think, between the main, where the crowd are, and the stage.
Oh, is that what it is?
Yeah, so people clamber across the pond.
The symphony I think they had there in the Imparent Friends,
we said it was awesome, but a lot of people ended up in the pond.
Oh, I reckon a lot of people would have ended up in A&E too after that.
About three days later, your body's like,
mate, I can't fight this off anymore, whatever it is.
So we did Waka Ama, didn't we, as well.
And not there, but remember that.
We were not even comically trying to fall into that pond with the eels and all that sort of stuff.
That was in the Waikato.
Yeah, multiple times we just kept falling in.
You get the weight wrong.
You just keep falling in.
We're like, afterwards, we're fully submerged in this thing.
We're like, oh, we're going to get sick.
Unfortunately, I don't think we got sick.
No, but someone came up to us afterwards and was like, oh,
wouldn't have put your head under.
It's like we didn't have any choice.
It wasn't like we were all coming up, you know, like Scrooge McDuck.
Well, there's millions swimming through there, you know.
Yeah, but we just fell in.
Not even comically.
Not even for a gag for TV, just because we just couldn't balance it very well.
Favourite New Plymouth moment, Ben?
New Plymouth?
Well, we went through Bunnings last year.
Did we fly?
I think it was landing.
Was that the...
Was it?
Was that Gisborne?
I get...
No.
No, we went from Gisborne to...
Was New Plymouth the treacherous flight that you slept through?
It was!
Yeah, no, we went to...
Yeah, we left Hawke's Bay.
Yeah.
Flew out of the Hawke's Bay.
A little tiny place.
It was Gisborne.
It was Gisborne.
That was a favourite memory of landing in.
Yeah, we went to this tiny little plane and the weather was atrocious.
There were thunderstorms.
And it was a four-seater plane, wasn't it?
Very tiny, yeah.
The pilot up the front was taking the navigation old school,
was just literally holding a paper map of the topography
of what we were flying over.
You couldn't see anything.
It was just cloudy.
It was like we were in a storm.
There was thunder.
There was lightning.
There was all sorts going on.
There was raining.
You couldn't see anything.
The plane was moving a lot.
I'm like, dear God, we are going to die. I kept to the to the pilot we're gonna be okay hey just for it and
he wasn't much it was a wonderful pilot but it wasn't much of a talk it wasn't much of a talk
so he just kind of didn't say much back to me and then you fell asleep i feel so i was very tired
and well i you know i was like here's what here was what was putting my mind at ease i was like he
wouldn't have taken us up here if it wasn't safe.
But then also, there's been many pilots throughout history.
Yeah, that's what I always think about.
Everyone that unfortunately had horrible things happen,
I'm like, well, they obviously thought that was safe.
Yep, correct.
So that kind of cancels out that theory.
And B, if you're going down, you don't want to be awake for it.
Yeah, well, I just couldn't sleep in that situation.
Now, I would have rather been sleeping, absolutely,
than worrying the whole time, you know.
But yes, I could never have slept in that situation.
Yeah.
Not in a, like, you couldn't have paid me, like,
for somebody to do $10 million full of sleep now.
I would have tried, but I couldn't have done it.
The ideal for me would be if it's going down,
I just hear your death-curdling screams.
Wake up, what's going on, guys?
Oh, mate, you never believed.
Boom.
Yeah. You know, you're like, oh, okay.
Well, I never believed it because I was fast asleep.
But yes, no, I don't know.
We're going to go back to Taranaki, the Naki.
Bev from the Hits there is great.
Bev, yeah, yeah.
Richard.
Richard hosts the day show there.
Yeah.
Work takes you all over the place.
Yeah, and it's wonderful to do
stuff like that. Well, you'll never know
we'll traipse around the country again,
but we do enjoy it.
You usually come in for a powerful 24
hours. Land,
check into a hotel, go to dinner,
go to bed, wake up, do a breakfast
show from a cafe, and you're out.
But hey, what a powerful 24
hours. We can't wait to spend that with you.
Maybe swim or not swim in the lake.
That was the Burner Phone.
