The Hits with Jono and Ben's Burnaphone Shall I bring a plate of sausage rolls, mini sausage rolls? Well, I'd say yeah, but it'd be like the lemons that you promised to bring us for a long time.
I noticed the staple New Zealand Ellison whole sausage rolls had a rebrand.
They're not the Ellison, you know the ones that come up and you'd cut them up and put them in the oven?
Yeah, they're good, aren't they?
They're delicious, but they would always leave me with an incredibly dry mouth.
Did you find the same thing? No, I had some sausage rolls on the weekend, but they would always leave me with an incredibly dry mouth. Did you find the same thing?
No, I had some sausage rolls on the weekend, but they come,
sometimes you can buy packages already cut up and just chuck those in the oven.
So I had those for the Warriors.
They were good.
Yeah, sausage rolls, bloody staple, aren't they?
And I love it at the end of the party when they're all cold
and they're still in the bowl and you're like,
hmm, I thought I had all my quota of sausage rolls today,
but I could go another round.
Yeah.
So this is the Burner Phone Podcast where we clear some messages.
You got some tickets to the Warriors, did you?
Yep.
Yeah, got some tickets, which is good.
Excited about that.
Saturday night, which will be cool.
I imagine there'll be a sellout.
Yeah, pretty quickly.
Yeah.
They'd be disappointed if it wasn't.
Yeah, they would.
Guys.
A couple of weeks ago it was a sellout.
What's changed now?
What?
Biggest game of the season.
Essentially a quarterfinal for the Warriors at Mount Smart.
It's going to be high energy stuff.
New Zealand is going to be backing them, isn't it?
Who said the other day when I was die,
die was relaying something that Stacey Jones quoted.
Legendary warrior that when the Warriors are going well,
they're New Zealand's Warriors.
When the Warriors are going bad, it's some team from Auckland.
Yeah, true.
That's the quote.
I just love the Up the Waz.
And then there's another little TikTok dance that's going around with
Cheeseburger and John Cena and a little dance Up the Waz as well
that's going nuts on TikTok as well.
Yeah, right.
Really, they're spanning all mediums.
Even the kids who – they enjoy going along to the Warriors games with us,
but they know now the dance from TikTok and the thing. this is not Chris Gray from fans it's not like the
Warriors are going hey guys here's a TikTok thing yeah Webby's not going out there before the game
going guys these are the tactics for the big game but also we need to do a bit of a TikTok dance as
well so if we can lead that that'd be good be good cost saving at halftime they're also the
cheerleading team as well and they do the the players they do the uh the TikTok dance too yeah
yeah can you get the whole
grandstand doing the
TikTok dance
oh I don't know
if it's quite reached
you get the grandstand
doing up the wars
that's great
mass saturation
there's a lot of
battlers at that stadium
who I think would
vehemently refuse
to TikTok dance
isn't it
some of them even
vehemently refuse
to say up the wars
but if I'm doing to a day one fan.
I was like, up the wars, mate.
I just got caught up in the hype.
He's like, not up the wars, mate.
Go the Warriors.
Yeah.
Well, there's a lot of conversations about where it sort of came from,
and no one's really sure.
But someone was telling me the other day, and again,
this is probably rumors and stuff, oh, the Aussies started it
because we're always whinging about, you know,
the referees and the bunkers.
They're like, oh, the wahs, the buddy wah-wah, you know.
And that was, oh, the wahs this weekend.
But then we've embraced it.
We've turned it around and we're like, yeah, up the wahs.
That's us.
I don't know.
And again, it might not be a true story, but I was like,
it's a fun little chat to have.
But then the Aussies are like, you idiots, do you know what we started? Why we started that? But was like it's a fun little chat to have but then the Aussies are like you idiots do you know what we started
why we started that
but anyway it's lovely
I love saying it
and love the reaction
it gets when you say it too
I know
little club
little New Zealand club
I just feel like
you can say it
it's the new neck minute
it's the new
it has spanned
the
it does
when everyone would
just say neck minute
everyone would go
oh that's classic
now it feels like
it up the wars
and then people would
come here and they'd be like
are you mean to say next minute why are you saying neck minute oh it's a thing it's a thing we all do it That's classic. Now it feels like it up the wars. And then people would come here and they'd be like,
are you mean to say next minute?
Why are you saying next minute?
Oh, it's a thing.
It's a thing.
We all do it.
Yeah.
You know the episode of The Simpsons where Bart would say,
I didn't do it.
And he was the I didn't do it boy.
And everyone was loving it.
We're in that peak I didn't do it stage, you know.
Bart turned up and go, I didn't do it.
And everyone's like, great. You know, you could, you know, like Christopher Lux,
we talked about the other day, you know, the other Chris, you know.
Hipkins.
Hipkins.
Yeah.
The Prime Minister one.
The one that people are slowly forgetting about in the polls.
I'm forgetting his name right now.
I mean, they chuck it up the wazen at a speech, you know.
I think someone said it in Parliament the other day.
And it'll kill it.
The speaker, you know.
It's already, it's at that point.
Yeah.
So enjoy it.
Enjoy it while it lasts.
We really are the more we talk, more Springfield.
We are.
We're a big Springfield, yeah.
Here is the, oh no.
Sorry.
Let's change that back.
Sorry, Megan.
Here is the Burner phone message for today.
I am single.
I want you guys to help me out on my woman.
I know you guys have a good taste. Catch it.
Okay, a single gentleman who would like the company of a lady
friend and we have good taste. Oh, well that's very kind of you. Look, I would love to
be able to help you out, but I don't think I'm any good at that
particular field of, you know, the notorious
pants man.
We could start up a prostitution ring.
Oh, no, I don't know.
I'm willing to put myself out there.
I'll go on the books.
Yeah, on the books.
So that's all cost of living.
And, you know, cost of living,
there might be some in the market who are unaffordable.
I bring the cost down.
Okay.
It'll do more for less. he's cheaper now than he ever was
we're at a cost of living crisis but jesus this guy's cheap but you know you pay what you get
for so don't expect yeah expect adventure yeah okay don't expect you know you're not you're
not gonna be proud of what of what takes place that's a genuine call i hope that you do find
a partner and stuff but i don't yeah, yeah. So many options nowadays, isn't there? Because when we started, I wouldn't even know, like,
God forbid if anything ever happens to my marriage,
I wouldn't even know where to start.
Yeah.
You know?
Yeah.
We're on a dating.
I always DM people on Instagram, mate.
Good on you, mate.
You're not saying in that regard.
Yeah.
I guess that's a step.
Is that how you get in there, though?
I can imagine there would be some people like that as well.
You know, we'd be messaging people back.
So do I need to go, get in there, mate the no i wouldn't say no but you you might start with
a dm and things like that you know and isn't that fantastic because there was a time there where
uh online dating frowned upon but now it's the norm no exactly now it's weird if you meet someone
out at a bar yeah you know that was a oh and now workplaces it's it's not really allowed you know
like so that's not really something that's, yeah.
So you're right.
Scared to look anyone in the eyes here, aren't you?
But no, that was back in the day, what you do, good old New Zealand dating scene.
Go out, get absolutely wasted.
And if you liked each other at the end of the night, then you're married for life.
That's how it was done, isn't it?
I read a wonderful Instagram post the other i read it was a wonderful um instagram post
the other day um it was a long story there's someone i i can't was on her account brexit
something or something but the guy would go put flowers on a grave uh every every week i think
it was one of his parents grave and he would always notice that the grave next to it he would
go every week would never get any flowers so he went to this the habit of like buying flowers for
that grave no matter he'd go pretty much every day and there was a guy, I just feel like this bad for this person who died.
And then one day after doing this for years and years,
he was putting flowers on.
Someone came up and said, what are you doing?
He's like, I'm just putting flowers in the grave.
And they're like, well, this person is actually,
I think he had murdered,
murdered like it was a murderer or something.
And he felt
so bad about it that he went across to oh no he googled it and then he was like oh god this is
i've been putting flowers on like that and so then he felt so bad that he tracked down the person
that he'd that the guy had murdered and to put flowers on their grave and then the person accosted
him and said what are you doing told the story and said oh look i feel awkward i feel like bad
i was trying to do a nice thing for someone.
I've got to put flowers on this grave.
And those two ended up striking up a conversation,
and they are now married.
Wow.
The person that he met at the grave of the, yeah.
I was wondering where that story was going.
It had to do with how you meet people.
And that was an unusual way of meeting someone
at the grave of someone that, long story short,
he'd been putting flowers on the grave of a murderer.
And that was his victim.
And then many years he'd gone to the other and then he ended up meeting like for a guy who's he was doing
a lovely act to begin with but for a guy who was doing stuff for dead people he really got in his
own head he could have gone well no one's going to find out about this i can get on with my life
chalk that up as a learning lesson yeah and uh but he's like no no i feel bad and now i need to go
over to go and make things wrong and so there you you go. So it was like, bear with me.
It's a funny story, but it didn't start from a funny place.
Yeah, well, there we go.
Hey, that's the Burner Phone today.
Have a wonderful day, and we will catch you back tomorrow.
