The Hits with Jono and Ben's Burner Phone February. Yeah. February. It's a confusing one, isn't it? It's the R in the thing.
Yeah. Actually, excuse me.
I was just jumping away from the mic.
We got sent something, which was a beautiful gift from the Kiwi Cookie Company.
Now, up the wards, the Warriors on fire, Brisbane this weekend.
And New Zealand, it feels like, and I don't want to drive a wedge between two of our favourite
sports, but it feels like, I don't know if it's just the environment we're in,
that more of New Zealand are behind the Warriors
at the moment than the All Blacks at the World Cup.
I don't know if that means that people aren't behind the All Blacks
because rugby has always been the big sport in New Zealand,
but it's great to see.
I think there's room in every sports fan's hearts
for all the teams.
And Sky are like, love all the sports.
Sign up to a Sky monthly subscription, please.
And that's great. We saw to a Sky monthly subscription, please.
And that's great.
Yeah, I mean,
you know,
we saw it with the Black Ferns
in the World Cup,
which was last year
in New Zealand,
which was awesome.
The Football Ferns
were the World Cup
this year as well.
We get,
you know,
we get,
this is the Warriors,
I guess they're in the finals.
That's their time at the moment.
The All Blacks,
a couple of weeks,
we'll be-
They'll be in the final
of the World Cup.
We'll be fizzing about
the quarterfinals
in the rugby,
you know?
But it's awesome to say,
to see the country get behind the Warriors.
For a lot of years, you know, the country hasn't.
So as a long-suffering Warriors fan,
I'm very pumped to see a lot of people jumping on board the bandwagon.
It's great.
Yeah, like you, there's been many who have been with them
through thick and thin.
You know, they've come in many Monday mornings.
Oh, bloody Warriors.
The amount of times I've heard you say bloody Warriors, Ben.
Yeah, I know.
And there was times I'll be like, no watching. No watching no that's it i can't keep going through the season
then i'll be like oh they're dragging me back in again there's hope for they've signed some players
there's a new season there's a whole lot of hope it's like being in a relationship and the person's
like i'm gonna change and you're like when and they have and they have they've come through
it's been a bit of therapy you got there in in the end. That's so good. Long way around to get to where I was going.
The Kiwi Cookie Company.
Wonderful Chris, who we've spoken to before, makes bespoke biscuits.
They're in Ohalpo.
And we're going to give Chris a call because Chris has made some bespoke
Warriors biscuits and sent them through.
We'll put them up on the Hits Briefers Instagram account and Facebook page.
Very talented baker, Chris.
Amazing.
It was very cool.
What are your little worry?
Well, do you want to explain?
Yeah, you can explain it.
Yeah.
You've got them in your hot little hand.
So little cookies here.
One with Warriors tops on.
Looks like a little, maybe like a Sean Johnson-esque sort of Warriors player.
Cute little, you know, cookie.
Hello, it's Chris from the periphery.
Oh, Chris!
Chris speaking.
G'day, Chris. How are you?
Good. I'm just flying over.
I'm just driving by the sports center.
Live from a hurricane. Chris!
It does sound like there's a lot going on there.
Chris, it's Jono and Ben.
Oh my God, how are you, honey?
Thank you for the cookies.
I was just explaining, we're recording this
for the podcast, but yeah, just say how cool
it was that you sent it to us.
Oh wow, so you got some cookies.
We got one that looks like a little Warriors-esque
player with a little jersey on and another
one that's full jersey that says
Up the Waz on it, so it's very cool.
Up the Waz, I thought you guys would be right into that
because I saw a photo of Gene with his family at the game.
I thought, well, let's just treat these guys.
Oh, well, Chris, that's lovely.
So we're doing a bit of a special run.
Are we limited edition run of Warriors Biscuits?
Well, when the Warriors win on Saturday night,
then we'll be baking thousands of them.
Thousands of biscuits.
Hey, Chris, she's got thousands ready to go.
Soon as the Warriors win.
It's a Liverpool edition at the moment, but when they win,
I'll just go to town and fill everyone's cupboards.
Oh, that's awesome.
It'll be fun.
That's very cool.
Must be fun in your job.
You've sent us cookies from the Kiwi Cookie Company before,
ones of our mascot.
It's called the Hippo. Yeah, the Hippo. For some reason ones of our mascot. That's probably the hippo.
Yeah, the hippo.
For some reason, I was thinking about the hippo the other day,
going, geez, we've just left that in the bag in the corner of the office.
Do you know what, Chris?
The hippo, we're like, this is going to be the new show mascot,
and we all sat in a meeting, and I think it was me that said,
we're going to do the classic thing we always do, Ben,
where we're all about something, and then once we've launched it,
we're going to forget about it and put it in a cupboard.
Now, where is it? It's in a cupboard. Now, where is it?
It's in a cupboard, but I haven't forgotten
about it. We're talking about it and we need to
organise another event for the mascot.
I think you do.
I can give you some copies to match them.
Yeah. The Hittopotamus.
Yeah, that's right. Who coincidentally
ran a half-time race at the Warriors.
Won it. Won the race.
Good fun. The mascot race. The mascot. Good fun.
The mascot race.
What we didn't tell you is we had former Warrior Anthony Jelling in the costume.
Oh, no.
Now the truth comes out, eh?
Hey, now, Chris, give your business a plug.
Oh, you Kiwi Cookie Company, we're situated just south of Hamilton in Ohalpa, a little
country area.
And we make designer cookies,
for example, Mate Rainbow's End and Kelly Carlton
and Encounter Kaikoura,
and 65 cafes in between all around the countryside.
And we do anything people want to do within reason, I suppose.
Within reason, yeah.
It's good to check that within reason on, too.
Yes, we'll do the reason one.
Yeah, because otherwise you might get some interesting cookie orders
there, Chris.
I know,
I know,
I know,
we've got to be careful there
but hey,
it's all good fun
and we love doing it
and it just gives
great pleasure
and joy to do them.
The cookie monster.
Yeah,
the nice cookie monster.
He's a backer,
isn't he?
The old cookie monster.
He was,
he's different altogether.
For a guy that loved cookies he wasn't digesting much. He was... He's different altogether. For a guy that loved
cookies, he wasn't digesting much.
No, very messy eater.
Gorgeous, gorgeous.
Well, you guys enjoy your cookies. We'll give them
to your children. Oh, thank you very much.
It's very kind of you to think of us. Oh, you're very
welcome. It's a bit of fun. I know I'm doing it.
No, you have a good one. There we go. Up the waz,
Chris. Up the waz. Up the waz.
You betcha. See you, mate. Bye. There we go. Up the waz, Chris. Up the waz. Up the waz. You betcha. See you, mate.
Bye.
Bye.
There we go.
Chris from the Kiwi Cookie Company.
And I'll help her if you'd like to order anything.
Anything within reason.
You know, she was trying to add the caveat of, listen, no dick orders, mate.
I'm not making dick biscuits.
You do need to rely on the sand, don't you?
I mean, she could.
She definitely could.
She has this, Looking at how she made
that little Warriors player.
He's not wearing pants.
What I just mentioned
would be easy
compared to that.
But don't request it, okay?
Just keep it classy, New Zealand.
And that was the Burner Phone
