The Hits with Jono and Ben's Burnaphone and really got into it today. It came from something that your son set us a bit of a challenge. He's a big fan of The Simpsons, as am I. He's watched every single episode and he's starting back at season one again. Oh, season one. See, even I, I mean, I love The Simpsons, but I kind of go, ah, you can skip, you know.

There was those shaky animation years as well with The Simpsons. They work things out gradually over time. But yeah, but still even looking back when it first came out, you're like, man, this is incredible. And it's just got better and better, I think. So the challenge was, without Google, name 100 of the 435 Simpsons characters that have appeared over the 30 plus years on the show.

And we had to name them. We couldn't just say, oh, it was such and such or whatever. The guy who did the monorail or whatever. Yeah, we had to get the actual names. And I think, with the help of everyone, we've got 100 names right here. We did it on the radio. And we'll read. Should we read all 100?

Oh, should we go through quickly? Just check it off? Okay, so we've got the big bangers. We've got Marge, Homer, Bart, Lisa, Maggie. Then we jump around quite a lot. Yeah, we should have done it a bit sort of linear and gone, okay, who's in this in the simpson household uh but then we got barney mo lenny and carl went to the bar yeah then we had millhouse a good mate of bart's then we had the flanders they had maude

flanders ned flanders rod flanders then for some reason we didn't go to todd flanders for a while uh then we jumped to a reverend lovejoyjoy as well. Helen Lovejoy as well. Then someone went, oh, send us a little help. We've got the pets. So we jumped back to the household with Snowball as well. And then we went, Chief Wiggum! And then Todd Flanders as well. Just all over the place.

I was trying to write it down frantically and it's quite hard to write things down these days. Because what was happening, texts were coming through and calls were coming through. And everyone was just trying to, first thing that came off their head. So it is a bit sporadic. There's no order to this.

Hi, everybody. Hi, everybody. Dr. Nick, Dr. Hibbert. We got the doctors out of the way. Then we went to the nuclear power plant. I went, Mr. Burns. Excellent. Smithers as well.

Then we went Ralph Wiggum. We jumped back to the Wiggum household. We should have gone Lenny and his mates from – who's Lenny and – are they the cop? Oh, Lou and Eddie. They didn't come until later on. We forgot all about them. You're right, around with Wiggums.

We couldn't remember Wiggum's wife, you know, Chief Wiggum's wife, so we couldn't put her down on the list. When did Selma and Paddy come into it? Not for a while, actually. We had Itchy, and then we went Krusty, and then we went Scratchy. Itchy and Scratchy would go together. Sideshow Bob, Sideshow Mel, Principal Skinner, Agnes Skinner as mum, Apu, from the Quickie Mart, Manjula came through on the text machine, Apu's wife.

And then we had Apu's children, didn't we? Well, he's got eight kids. We couldn't get the names of all eight. Cletus, Superintendent Chalmers, Mrs. Krabappel, Miss Hoover, a groundskeeper, Willie. Then we had Eddie the Cop came in there as well. And then we had Lou the Cop as well. Troy McClure, Surly from Duff Gardens.

There's a whole lot of those Duff bottles, but we couldn't remember those ones. I think remorseful and all sorts. We got Duff Man too, didn't we? Yeah, he comes up later on, but we went to Shirley first. Really, it makes no sense, Alyssa. Then we had Luanne Van Housen, Kirk Van Housen, Milhouse's parents. Michelle Kwan came through.

The reporter from the television. Blinky the three-eyed fish. Yep. Jasper with the long beard. Udo, who's the German kid. I didn't know Udo's name, but yeah, the German kid at the school. And then Otto came through. Otto came through a bit later, you're right.

Old Gil, Jebediah Springfield, Rich Texan. I've actually jumped around the order now anyway. This is Dewey Largo. This is actually towards the end here. I didn't know, again, Dewey Largo, but that was a great name. Hugh Jass, which was someone who was a character when bart's prank went wrong that's right yeah that's right uh then we had uh lunch lady doris lionel hutz nelson kearney jimbo the bullies grandpa simpson coming in very late i

should have been in the top six yeah Yeah. Duff Man. Yeah. Brandeen. The country... Cletus's wife. Oh, that's right. Yes. Very unknown. Yeah. Where's Cletus?

Did we... Cletus was up earlier. Cletus was about 10 earlier. Selma and Patty not coming in until 50 and 51. That was just an oversight

on our behalf. Troy McClure. Did we have Troy McClure before? Oh, no. We might have doubled up on McClure. Did we have Troy McClure before? Oh no, we might have doubled up on McClure. Did we? Which means we've only got 99. I think we had an extra one actually

because we had Lou and Eddie who came three towards the end. There's room for error. Hubert Skinner. We had Lyle Lancey who was the Monorail song guy. Mr. Teeny, the monkey. Disco Stu.

Love Disco Stu. Hans Molman. Poochie. Spider-Pig one you you come up with very good uh the comic book guy we didn't know if he had a name i think he's just comic book guy but we got him down to that radioactive man arty who was marge's love before homer um some of these are my favorites coming up we've got the sea captain uh fat tony and johnny tightlips now fat tony had a couple of henchmen, didn't he? Yeah, he did have some other ones as well. Was Johnny Tightlips one of them?

One of them, but there was other ones, you're right. There was other ones. Mayor Quimby, Snake, who's the bad guy as well, Bleeding Gums Murphy, Marvin Munro, the therapist, Sherry and Terry, the twins, Osso, now we'd forgotten about Osso, the bus driver, for a long time. And he's a big player.

Yeah, Kent Brockman. Bumblebee Man. The Aliens Kang and Kodos came through. Bumblebee Man was the Mexican show. Yeah. Yeah, that's right. The Spanish TV network. Professor Fink.

Laureline, the country singer. Hank Scorpio, the evil sort of supervillain. Frank Grimes. Grimesy. Grimey. Chester Lampwick who was the original creative

Itchy and Scratchy I think yeah and he's homeless now or something isn't he then we had Martin Prince and then we got to

the final few here we had the crazy cat lady came in late Arnie Pie in the sky the traffic reporter Jessica Lovejoy which was the daughter of

you know the Barney the Crush. I think in one episode, I don't know how often she features, they had the Rabbi Christofsy who's Christy's dad and Judge Roy coming through in the top 100 as well. So there we go. We got 100.

435 in total though, but there would be some just bit players and Dave. And also there were a lot of cameos that we didn't know where to count yeah we didn't put the cameos in

oh Dredrick Tatum as well he was another one that was kind of like the Mike Tyson character as well the boxer here we go

if we need another one we'll put that on the list who was the guy in the baseball episode and he had to keep shaving his sideburns up the top oh yeah

there was all those they were all cameos weren't they makes for baseball players yeah Burns' baseball team. Yeah, so there we go. Shave your sideburns, Yippie. It was Daryl Strawberry and all those sort of iconic baseball players.

So, yeah, we didn't count those ones. MacGyver was another one that cameoed. Lady Gaga. I mean, so many cameos over the years, but we didn't count those. So I don't know what you did today, but we spent an hour naming 100 Simpsons characters without Google. Yeah. Hey, we achieved something.

It was fun. And now we got really excited by it. And afterwards, you're like, we need to do this again. And maybe we thought 50 of other things. 50 Shorten Street characters. I reckon I could do 50 Shorten Street characters. Oh, we'll save that for another day. We'll probably stop now.

Yeah. We've already done a massive list. Oh, yeah. It'll be fun, actually. Let's try that, eh? Do you reckon you could do 50 New Zealand politicians? I think we could. Yeah, get there. there before the election we should definitely do that once you get you know your joseph savages and yeah like not necessarily current politicians i mean there's a there's what

100 in parliament or something close to that isn't there so we should be able to get a few do you reckon you could do 50 different countries? Yeah. 50 I could do. 100. Could you do 100 countries? Maybe. Producer Joel loves the Warriors, as do I.

And he, the other day, made us, as a show off-air, do 100 Warriors players. That's what inspired this. Not for on-air. So we spent a lot of part of the show trying to come up with Warriors players. And then all week, we'll be the same. We'll be thinking of Simpsons characters. We'll go, oh yeah, of course, that one.

Jeez, we went deep on the Warriors, didn't we? We're like, Clinton Torby. Yeah, yeah. It was a lot of players. And then I'll be driving home going, Blake Green. Forgot all about Blake Green. And then I'm like, well, it probably doesn't matter now. The Simpsons things will give us nightmares.

Yeah, so thank you for everyone. It was honestly one of the biggest things we've done on the text machine. Yeah, it really was. Yeah. So that's why you can see why I'm trying to milk it here a couple of steps further. Yeah, we'll get back to that again.
