Starting point is 00:00:00 The Hits with Jono and Ben's Burner Phone I guess it would be a guesstimate because there's probably just podcasts being created. Yes, true. I think a new one launched. We actually spoke to someone today who's launching a new podcast today, Angelina Gray. Angelina Gray, Radio Haraki. Mental Is Anything, the name of her podcast, talking about mental health. Over 5 million podcasts, it says here on the quick Google, with over 70 million episodes between them as of 2023. Jeez.
Starting point is 00:00:43 Spotify. But then it says spotify alone has over five million podcasts on its platform so a lot of podcasts out there what would be if you were to say my favorite podcasters you're going to go some specific sport one aren't you yeah i do i do yeah um yeah but i find like every now and again i go that's a good podcast i need to listen to that but i probably need to get a bit more regular with that sort of stuff i like a guy and i was in borsier bill simmons who's like a bit of a sports he doesn't always do sports stuff but yeah he's quite like him he's funny guys comedian yeah he's sort of funny he's had a few tv shows
Starting point is 00:01:18 and stuff as well but he started a pod his own little podcast network and stuff he used to work for espn and stuff he's he's very good and And they were doing movie ones as well, rewatchables, where they'll watch a movie they haven't seen for years and then they'll talk about that again, which is quite good if you don't like the sport. Yeah. It's always an interesting one too, showing kids movies that we grew up with
Starting point is 00:01:36 because you're like, they're so fond in your heart and your memory. But then when you play them to a new generation, used to AI. These kids, they've got it all. And you play, you know new generation used to ai these these kids that they've got they've got it all and you play you know the goonies or something yeah et yeah doesn't just have the same impact does it et's fucking slow that is a drag i know yeah the original what we watched the other day with the kids charlie and the chocolate factory the original and i was like
Starting point is 00:02:02 jeez the start of this is just like get to the factory you know they were like a big song and dance in the candy store with the candy you know like but then there are some movies that do stack up and then there are other times i sit there i find myself with the kids going well that that joke wouldn't fly that joke wouldn't fly you know like you know just so they know at least that that's not to go out you know i'm not gonna go out of the household that's aka never say that outside of these walls yeah like now you're like this is a funny movie and then you're like going to go out of the household that's aka never say that outside of these walls yeah like now again you're like this is a funny movie
Starting point is 00:02:26 and then you're like oh yeah but some of the humour is really we've moved on we've moved on yeah we have moved on especially when you look back at it
Starting point is 00:02:33 and it's in film film form yeah yeah but yeah so what was some reference you don't have to go into huge detail but sort of brush
Starting point is 00:02:39 brush over oh no just references to sexualities and things like that and you're like oh that's oh you can't say that now. That's a, you know, and it was like, yeah. And it was a movie that was aimed at sort of
Starting point is 00:02:50 teenagers. And it was like, oh, okay. Cancel it. Cancel the movie. That's what we do, isn't it? We try and delete it from history. Yeah, I think we do try and do that a lot of the time. Roald Dahl had to re-edit some, well, not Roald Dahl himself, but the estate had to re-edit some passages. I think they've got two, but the estate had to re-edit some passages.
Starting point is 00:03:05 I think they've got two options now, because people complained, and then people complained about the complaints, so now they've gone, hey, if you want Roald Dahl, you want all Roald Dahl. Raw, raw, raw offensive. All the time, this is Roald Dahl.
Starting point is 00:03:19 But then it was, I don't know, let's not open up that debate, but then it was to do with people, we would say something was fat, or things like that, you know. And people, you know, it wasn't always the stuff that you would think it might, you know. I know. But you can't change, I think Ricky Gervais has this stance, you can't change history. History's been.
Starting point is 00:03:37 Like, if we're going to edit anything out, let's bloody chop Hitler out of the equation. You know, you'd slice him out of history, wouldn't you? But you can't. Learn from it. Learn from it, hopefully. That's right. Give people the opportunity to learn from it and not be the same person they were, hopefully.
Starting point is 00:03:50 It's been. It's done. It was a mistake at the time. Like if Roald Dahl was putting out, again, he's not around, but if he's putting out a book today and, you know. I'm sure he's not going out there bloody going, hey, you fat chubster.
Starting point is 00:04:00 Yeah. Yeah. I mean, stuff we were saying 10 years ago. Oh, I'm going to go and sign half of that stuff, bed boys. It's all really interesting. Now, today for the Burnout Podcast, you can leave us a message, yeah. I mean, stuff we were saying 10 years ago. Oh, I'm going to go and sign half of that stuff, bed boys. It's all really interesting. Now, today for the Burner podcast, you can leave us a message at any stage. Just text BURNER to 4487 and leave us a message. There was a message left, and we've just sort of been deciphering it off here.
Starting point is 00:04:16 It seems to be some sort of game that you play, a word game. Have a listen. Doing the word challenge, so we're just going to say the same word and then find the common word in between it. Okay. Are you ready? Yep. 3, 2, 1
Starting point is 00:04:29 Table. Popcorn. Okay, so popcorn and table. 3, 2, 1 Fork. Movies. Okay. Let's go again.
Starting point is 00:04:38 Fork and- 3, 2, 1 Hotdog. We can get this. 3, 2, 1 Coke. Fast food. Okay. Coke and fast dog. We can get this. Three, two, one. Fast food. Okay. Okay.
Starting point is 00:04:46 Coke and fast food. We've got this. We've got this. Look into my eyes. Okay. Three, two, one. McDonald's. McDonald's.
Starting point is 00:04:53 Yes. Yes. Oh, I see. So they're trying to land on the word. It took us a while to sort of get our head around. So you start with two random words and then you try and work out if there is a connection. A connecting word. Okay, okay.
Starting point is 00:05:06 That would kind of be, but just starting from a random word. Oh, geez. We've done this. We did this once on the radio. We had to sync up words, remember? And it felt like it was easier because you just go, okay, a politician
Starting point is 00:05:18 and then go one, two, three and then we'd go Chris Hipkins or whatever and then you'd be the same, you know? But this is... Okay, this is one step further, right? Okay, okay. One, two, three. Basketball. Tomato sauce. Chris Hipkins or whatever and then you'd be the same you know but this is okay this is one step further alright okay one two three basketball
Starting point is 00:05:27 tomato sauce so basketball and tomato sauce so we're going to find the common word between basketball and tomato sauce one two three
Starting point is 00:05:37 hot chips sauce balls I went hot chips yeah because you go and eat them at the basketball what did you go
Starting point is 00:05:42 sauce balls I don't so now I'm going to find the connection between sauce balls, which I don't even know what that is. And hot chips. Yeah. Okay. You've really thrown me with sauce balls.
Starting point is 00:06:00 Sauce balls and hot chips, okay. Okay, so hang on. I've got nothing that can connect to sauce balls and hot chips. You've got saucy balls and hot chips, okay. Okay, so hang on. I've got nothing that can connect to the sauce balls and hot chips. You've got saucy balls and hot chips. Oh, yeah. Okay. One, two, three. Cheese.
Starting point is 00:06:13 Oh, okay. Cheese and salt. We're back in sync. Salt and cheese. Okay. Okay. One, two, three. Crackers.
Starting point is 00:06:21 Oh. Bread and crackers. Okay. Okay, here we go. So we're going to find a connection between bread and crackers oh two three toast oh butter toast okay okay so we've got butter and toast oh okay one two three breakfast oh no breakfast jam we're getting there one two three cereal yes yes Getting there. One, two, three. Cereal! Yes! Yes! We got there. Oh, wow.
Starting point is 00:06:48 That's quite a fun game. It's a thrilling game. I don't know if anyone else finds this fun. Does anyone probably enjoy listening to that? I don't know. We enjoyed playing it. So there you go. There's a little game that you can play connecting. It seems like it'll be a fun road trip game.
Starting point is 00:06:59 It would. You know, you're heading along on a road trip. I was going to talk about this on the radio. We were playing a game over the holiday period, go to dinner, and it was just the rhyming word game. Oh, yeah. So chief came up as a word, and we'd done words that rhyme with chief, like...
Starting point is 00:07:18 Belief. Belief, stuff like that. Grief. Grief, and then probably my daughter said, queef. Okay. She didn't know what probably my daughter said, queef. Okay. And she didn't know what I meant. Yeah, right.
Starting point is 00:07:29 Jen and my wife and I, we were cracking up at queef. And she's like, what's funny about queef? Yeah, it's one of those. Then you had to explain a queef. Yeah. Had to.
Starting point is 00:07:38 You just explained it. Had to explain it. You didn't just go, that's an adult word. That was probably a better option. Yeah, it's a word. it's an adult word that was probably a better option it's a word it's an adult
Starting point is 00:07:47 thing it's probably something she took the game out with the cleef no coming
Starting point is 00:07:51 back what they kind of pick up what they hear I don't know how many
