The Jono Ben and Megan podcast, thanks to Dilma.
Goodness really does taste great.
Dilma, making the world a better tea.
Now, I just teased before that this could be the greatest hiding place in every household.
I'd say most households have one of these.
Yesterday, I pulled something out of the fridge and dropped, bounced off my foot and then went under the fridge.
Into the dusty three centimetre high cavern.
Yeah.
Did you try and kick it again?
you know you drop something
yeah that's the theory
it softens the blow if you drop any items
but then this thing rolled under the fridge
and I'm like well that's
that's gone
there's no one ever in the history of knocking
something under a fridge has ever gone and retrieved it
how many grapes are rotting underneath
those little cherry tomatoes
as someone who's got little kids
many a car and toy
has gone under there and I have to go
under there with like the spatula oh do you get them out to you
yeah because otherwise you
hear about it all day.
I'd be like, that's gone forever, kids.
You're not getting that bad.
Fly swats for us and our family,
because we often put it under the air with a little tip
just sort of, but it gets kicked in and then it goes.
So we've just got, it's a grave of fly swats underneath our fridge.
The fly swat the retriever.
Yeah, well, no, just we just keep it under the fridge.
You locate the floor.
With a little bit like out, which is a dumb system, really.
It's a storage system.
But then, yeah, but then someone will kick it and it'll go in under,
that one's gone.
So I don't know how many fly swats will be under our house.
fridge. I reckon at least a dozen.
I reckon if you got raided
by the armed offenders and they're like
we've looked everywhere. How about under
the fridge? We're like, it's gone, sorry guys.
Even out of the fridge. No one even pulls out the fridge to look under the.
And when you move house, you're like, dear God.
It was a lot there. Yeah. John O'Ben and Megan
The podcast. That.
You came to work in a bit of a
flap. I've had a rough
morning. What's happened? Wet curtains
we understand. I got
up early. I've been
editing a podcast this morning
and so I got up early
got everything going
I was in the kitchen at my house
at quarter past 3
8.
So it's dark
I'm a little bit like
you know
the lift's working
it's not going to the top floor
so I'm there in body
I need that analogy
you made me
sort of think about that a little bit
lifts going but it's not going
the top floor
not yet
have you reached the top floor now
what floor are you on?
Oh yeah I'm like
I'm banging on the top floor
Is that a good thing
in the lift analogy
Well, I think by 10 a.m., the lift's not going to be working.
Oh, okay.
So, lift breaks down.
Okay, right.
Volatile lift.
Okay.
And I've also lost my beloved Formula One, like Stanley Cup thing.
Oh, one of your four drink bottles you bring to work every morning.
Yes.
So I had to bring in this other one that I've got.
But it was in the cupboard, and when I opened it full of mould.
So at 3.15 in the morning, I'm like, okay, well, now I've got to clean this drink bottle.
and I was like
that's pretty gross
Was a glass an option?
No because I have to
What do you mean?
I have to bring it to work
She lost the other one
that in the bathroom
I know I think I left it in the toilet
And I was like surely someone
She's going to leave it there
I know
How hydrated do you need to drink?
I took all my things
Do you go on the bowl?
If I'm thirsty enough
I took all my things
into the bathroom
before I went home yesterday
And I think I left
The drink
bottle on the on the sink okay I thought it would still be there but it's not um so anyway I'm
washing this moldy drink bottle at 315 in the morning and I was like hot water is what I need
to sterilize this so I put a little dribble of um dishwasing liquid and I poured in hot water
and I put the lid on of this thermos style drink bottle screwed it up and shook it a couple
of times and in my head I was like oh no I know exactly what I've done uh this is a
a good idea. So I tried to unscrew it and it's like suction tight and so it has a little
flicky top so I flick the top and what proceeds is I'm not even joking probably seven
meters of projectile foamy soap water. Oh like a water fountain. Yeah. Boiling hot and it shoots
across my kitchen my dining room hits the blinds. It's kind of like that, remember that Kim
Kardashian photo when she's opening the champagne? It's going on her bottom. Yes.
in my mind I could just hear
the Formula One music when they're on the podium
doing the champagne
I'm like
across my
But you don't need that at 3.15 in the morning
Yeah
And so I'm standing there
and everything's dripping
and I have to
I either laugh or cry
and so I'm hysterically laughing
trying to clean up this soapy mess
but it's still dark.
I don't know if I've got it all.
And across my wall is like drip stains
that I can't get rid of.
So I'm going to have to message my husband
and explain why it looks like there was an exorcism
in the dining room.
Even when you've washed it with soapy water.
If anything, you've cleaned the curtains.
Exactly. I've mop the floor.
Yeah. Exactly.
You've done the good work.
Yeah.
You said you could laugh or cry,
but it feels like you're on the verge of crying now.
No, it's a lot.
You feel like a race car in the red to use another formula one analogy.
Yeah, but if anyone sees my cup, my beloved Formula Wonder bottle.
Poor old Troy was out there with a search party.
I know, I had security.
Poliasi was on it.
Yeah. So that's gone, I think.
Hey next, producer Troy, he wants to fight us on something.
He's like, this is the best ever.
And if you've any debate, he's going to disagree.
John O'Ben and Megan.
The podcast.
The hits.
In a week's time, it's week Wednesday in New Zealand,
raising money for the Child Cancer Foundation.
You can wear wonderful wacky wigs for the day
and make a donation to support families and children going through cancer treatment.
It really is a wonderful organisation and you can get more at wigwensday.org.n.
And joining us in this studio is 9-year-old Noah who's been on his own cancer journey with his family
after being diagnosed with leukemia at age 7 but is in remission now.
Noah, how are you?
Good.
You got the day off today to come see us?
Yeah.
Oh, nice.
All day.
I realized school hasn't started yet.
It's just the morning.
You could still get a full day in there,
but let's not put that into your parents' heads.
And so why is Wig Wednesday important to you, mate?
Because for, like, people that, when they lose their hair.
Through cancer treatment?
Yeah.
And so you've been on this journey, have you, mate?
Mm-hmm.
It's pretty weird when you lose your hair because it's, like, itchy and...
Yeah, right.
I lost mine.
It didn't come back.
Yeah, this doesn't come back.
Yeah, it hasn't come back.
Yeah, mate, so...
And so how many years were you sick for?
You're cancer free now.
You're in remission?
Yeah.
How many years were you living with it, mate?
Two.
He said, we've got Noah's parents here.
Do you mind coming over and having a chat?
Jeez, a hell of a journey for the Fano and the family the last couple of years, I imagine.
Yeah, I guess it's not something any parent wants to take on, eh?
But I guess we didn't have much choice.
But, yeah, you've been a bit of a battler, eh?
The kids are very resilient, aren't they?
Yeah.
You know, we're here for CCF as well.
We've had a lot of support along the way.
Yeah, what sort of support did they give you?
Oh, man, we've had lots of...
emotional in chats like trips away, which was really cool.
So we managed to get away once you kind of finished all your hospital stuff.
Just things like we were diagnosed just before Christmas and then Noah was diagnosed.
And then literally within the week we were home, they came to see us.
Say your life as you know it is not all the same.
I don't know, just little things like giving us passes to go to the zoo or butterfly creek
and things for Noah to look forward to.
It's interesting that you did say we were diagnosed
because I know Dai Henwood, when he speaks about it,
he says it's not only the person who gets diagnosed,
it is everyone around them as well.
It affects the whole family.
Yeah, it puts everyone's life on hold a little bit, doesn't it?
You've got a brother, eh?
It's exactly the same.
He didn't know who was picking up from school
or, you know, where he would be because we'd be in hospital.
We'd disappear in the middle of the night.
He'd wake up in the morning and, you know,
Oh, Noah's gone to hospital or whatever.
So, yeah, it throws everything.
It just throws your life up.
I can just imagine, you know, we're all parents and just getting that.
What's it like when you get that news, that diagnosis?
Horrible.
Yeah.
We try not to think about it.
No.
Yeah, awful.
Like, everything you have known and taken for granted and, you know,
your normal family life is completely upended.
Pema and the blood tests say they were pretty awful.
And then he had to go every once a month at some stage to go,
He had to go to theatre and have the chemo in through his spine and lots of things like that.
Jeez.
Oh, you were so brave.
So brave.
And your parents as well, I can't even imagine.
And so then at the other end of that journey, the remission, like, that must just be, oh my gosh,
what's that feeling like?
Massive relief.
There's a few drinks, eh?
When you get to ring the bell at the end of your treatment, don't you?
So that was pretty cool.
Places like the Child Cancer Foundation, obviously, you couldn't do it without them.
No.
No.
It's given me goosebumps.
We didn't know anything about it before this journey or about them,
and we just grateful is probably the only word that we can use.
They just were always there.
Still now, he finished treatment in February,
and, you know, like they're still here.
I still get a phone call.
And yeah, initially it's pretty overwhelming.
You get, you're in there, you don't really know what's happening,
and then they hand you this big folder,
oh, here's your treatment plan for the next two and a half years,
and you're just, oh, yeah.
I've meltdown, so yeah.
It's quite nice to have people that have been there
and helped other people before to sort of guide you in the right direction of...
Well, listen, donating to this important organisation.
They want to get around about 280 grand, I think.
And Whig Wednesday is how you can do it.
Head to Whig Wednesday.
It's quite a mouthful.
It's a mouthful.
It's not a mouthful.
You want to get schools, workplaces, community group, shows support.
And as you guys said, the amazing support that they do do.
More money raised this year to help out more families.
You can participate.
or if you just want to donate, you can do that there too.
Thank you for sharing the most traumatic moment of your life.
You're welcome.
Thanks for listening, New Zealand.
You put a lot of things into perspective.
And make sure you get involved for Wig Wednesday next week.
A wonderful cause for the child cancer family.
John O'Ben and Megan, the podcast.
The hits.
No, I get it because I do the same thing.
When you see someone that you vaguely know from somewhere,
sometimes you don't really know what to say.
You kind of yell out something.
It happens if you.
you see someone you might have seen on radio or TV,
you know, things like that.
And it's happened to us a few times over the years.
A lot of people used to say,
John I'll bet at 10,
they'd say the full name of something when they'd see us.
People used to yell out, John Campbell live.
As if it was a hyphenated...
Like for John Campbell, yeah.
You just yell out what you know them from.
Yeah, and I get it.
In the moment, you don't expect you.
You just sort of yell out something.
I had funny side up the other day,
remember I was telling you about,
because it's all on our billboards everywhere at the moment
in bus stops and we're a funny side up.
They're like,
Hey, funny side up.
You're like, hey, how you doing?
People always like to yell radio stations that I'm not on at me.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
People might think, because there's three of us on the Billboard,
that are names of funny side and up.
Oh, they're true.
Yeah, yeah, you're right.
You're one of the funny, you're one of them.
One of funny side up.
But yesterday I was walking through the mall,
and it was just after school time, you know,
a lot of kids around the mall when I was walking through with my daughters.
They're always like, oh, this is the time of my opposite here.
The old people, they're from other schools,
they're going to not want to run.
into them. Like, you don't know these people.
It's all about the ops there. It's the way the Jersey say it.
Like, opposition.
Like, as a joke. There's some of the ops at the mall.
I'm like, whatever, mate. Just go on.
There's nothing more horrific than having to be
with your parents after school time. Yeah. That's the main
reason. It's just hanging out with me. Any excuse.
Poppy's worst nightmare. If anyone from her
school is, I was like, well, do you know them? She's like,
no.
But like I go say, they roll with it. I might come up and
rolling with that. But I've got
yo TikTok, y'all down at me.
And then I was like, yeah, TikTok.
And I've never had that before
Like I'm my whole TikTok
Like it was like this is the weirdest thing
And it caused quite a commotion
Because of the whole group of guys
And my daughter's like
Oh my God what is happening right now
And it's like yo TikTok
And it's like well I'm not actually TikTok
Like I've done a couple of videos
That's your identifying
Feeture now
But I've never had that before
Like TikTok as a yeah
Did you yell like
Yeah I'm also on the radio
Do you know what that is?
You could listen
Radio would be better
Like yell of 97.4 Rockland
or 97.7 category
Yeah, they don't know what the radio is.
I heart radio.
You know, all those would have been better options for me.
Maybe next time I should respond with that.
Yeah, right, Megan.
Please, any plug, we.
Just get the radio out there.
Your radio.
That'd be nice next.
John O'Ben and Megan.
The podcast.
The Hats.
Producer Grace has instilled a weekly tradition on the show.
Every Tuesday after the program, we go across to a cafe,
and it's a phone-free hangout.
Well, it's actually called no takeaway cup time.
No takeaway cup.
But we always get take away cups because we've got stuff to do.
Yeah, and we actually sit down as a group, as a show,
and you've eliminated phones from this whole experience.
Well, just so we can catch up on life and make eye contact.
Some of my life.
It wasn't with the Gen Z is the one organizing it.
I know, which is remarkable.
So I appreciate the sentiment.
But not once in our no phone meetings, have we ever not had phones?
Well, here's the thing, because yesterday meeting and you're like,
we're talking, you're like, that's a really good idea.
for the radio show and then you're like, I'm going to forget that.
If I don't write that down, you didn't have pen of paper, you're like, can I write it in my
phone? What's the deal here? And Grace is like, no phones. So Ben turns us back to try and block
me while I'm like running it on my phone. She's like, I can see you, Megan. I could smell you
on my phone. I'm that locked in. But I, then we were talking about, like, we actually had banter.
Yeah, we were good. And then you want to look at something and show something and you're like,
oh, I can't do that. It's just, it's a fair. I was talking about a certain color and I was like,
I need to give you a reference. And I was like, please.
Grace, may I search this particular colour on my phone.
Whoa, well, whoa, whoa, well.
The reason the phone band started,
because Megan would sit there on her phone.
It sounded like the national party. The phone band, the phone band.
Don't you dare say that, then.
Megan would sit there playing her games.
Excuse me.
Let me finish.
The biggest insult you could say to a 25-year-old.
Let me finish.
She would sit there playing her games, not interacting with us.
Not making eye contact.
She'd be locked in.
But my thing is, as long as we're having a conversation,
if you're like, hey, I need to show you something on your phone, that's fine.
Okay, that's excusable.
Also, I was doing research from my podcast.
Tuesday is always around my podcast time.
Do you want me to move it to Wednesday?
It would actually be really helpful.
Well, I will say not once through our phone-free Tuesdays.
Just Megan Bean phone-free.
Not once.
I mean, the rest of us have given it a decent crack.
It's hard, though.
It was hard, you know.
Work purposes.
So if I move it to next week Wednesday,
do you promise not to go on your phone?
Yes.
If anything, it's a sobering reminder how reliant we are
on our phones. People do that for dinners, don't they too?
They put it, the phones in the middle, and if the first listen,
touch the phones had to pay for dinner.
We're not allowed phones at our dinner table, and if we do, the kids are like,
no, phones, and you're like, oh, yeah, yeah.
But yeah, the whole time, you're like, oh, if I could just...
I've literally told my kids to get off a screen while I've been looking at a screen.
That's happened many times.
With no eye contact.
Go on the screens, yeah.
John O'Ben and Megan, the podcast.
The Hats.
Something's gone viral.
You said bonkers on the internet.
Is that a level above viral?
Well, yeah.
No, viral is another way of saying it.
A lot of people getting involved in this.
This is a lady who put out a video.
She was her partner.
We're here in New Zealand.
Having a nice romantic getaway in Queensland.
Beautiful.
And it didn't go the way she'd planned.
So from what I gather, he's like, go off and treat yourself.
So he's booked a bit of a day spa situation for her to go away and relax.
Lovely.
Lovely.
A lovely gesture, right?
Yeah.
I'm calling out all girls in Queensland, New Zealand.
right now that happened in the last week.
One of you queens who I love and adore, and I would love to speak to, left an eyelash,
a little cluster eyelash on my towel while I was out and my, the man that I was on holidays
with that I have been dating for the last eight months, stayed home with a tummy bug.
I would like to thank you, I would like to talk to you.
So she goes away, well, she's pretty much explained it,
but she returns and there's an eyelash sitting on the pillowcase.
God, I hope the tummy bug was fake, otherwise that chick's got something...
Got gastro.
More than she bargained for.
Yeah. She's jumped to the conclusion or maybe hit him up and said, you know,
did you have someone in here?
And I'm gathering he said, I did, because Ben and me are both gone,
well, that could be anyone's eyelash.
I mean, yeah, it probably doesn't narrow it down to too many people,
but it could be like a cleaner or someone who...
who had stayed in the room previous.
It could have been.
But obviously he's probably...
In this case, it's forensic evidence.
Gone. Hey, yeah, you're right.
Yeah, but I'm guessing the towel
is not clean folded in the shelf.
It's obviously one that's been used.
So why would the cleaner...
So if he has done this,
and we're assuming he has,
a risky maneuver.
Go off for a massage,
and I will invite another woman
into the hotel room we're staying in.
In the short period of time.
It is a race against time
and everything needs to work to.
Also, you've booked her in for something.
that you know the exact time of.
So pretty clever.
Like if you bought her an hour and a half massage.
Oh yeah, you're right.
You know you've got at least an hour and a half.
Plus travel time and stuff.
Great.
Yeah, okay.
You know?
Yeah, so he sent her a way to be relaxed and she's come back the opposite of relaxed, obviously.
But she's also assumed, we think, that the woman did it on purpose, that she left her, like, some breed crumbs being like, your partner's cheating.
But I initially thought she'd done it, you know, she just dried herself in an eye that she'd come off.
she might not have done it on purpose
Right
Yeah well she's thinking the best of someone
So is it like the Italians leave horses' heads in your bed
Don't you it's the female version of alerting
So maybe the girl who came over to have a liaison
Figured out that he was with someone
Saw all the female products and stuff in there
And been like oh you're not alone
And left a piece of evidence
Do you think when he was saying goodbye
He was like where's your eyelash gone?
Your eyelashes are all like
Uneven
Do you think
in that moment
guys are that
No
Intuitive
No
No
So
He's like get out
Get out
She's coming back
Megan wants to chuck this out
I don't think
We're getting
Getting on phone and through
No
I want to know
If you've ever
Been the other woman
And maybe you did
Alert the
The
partner
You didn't know
That they were
With someone
You went and
Had your
Liaison
And then
You left a brig
Crum
Or you
You told them
When were you
The other woman
And you
Let them know
Or just a cast, than it.
A little bit wider, a little bit wider.
Were you a woman who was alerted?
Yeah.
John O'Benn and Megan.
The podcast.
The heads.
Played you some audio of an Australian couple who came to Queenstown for a holiday.
She went off for a relaxing massage.
He stayed in the hotel room and she came home to this.
I'm calling out all girls in Queensland right now that have been in the last week.
If you're not a girl, leave.
One of you, one of you queens who I love and adore, and I would love.
love to speak to, left an eyelash, a little cluster eyelash on my towel while I was out.
And my, the man that I was on holidays with that I have been dating for the last eight months,
stayed home with a tummy bug.
So, was it a little clue, a piece of evidence?
Was it accidental or did they leave it there on purpose being like, I did not know he was in any kind of relationship,
leave my eyelashes as breadcrumbs that I was here.
So a high-risk high-risk high-a-ward topic here on radio.
We really are taking a gamble.
Have you been the other woman?
And did you not know that they were already in a relationship?
And did you alert the partner?
That's what we're after.
Now, we've got a couple of calls here.
Sally.
Hello.
What happened?
Do you find out someone was cheating?
Yes, I got messaged by Facebook.
someone had stalked my husband and found out he had a wife
and his sister had been sleeping with my husband
and his sister had told him and so he went on Facebook and hunted me down
and told you so the brother of the lady having the affair
was the good Samaritan
yes he was oh wow that's a hell of a storyline
how did you take the news because often sometimes you're worried
they're just going to shoot the messenger and they won't believe you.
How did you take it?
I complete shock at first and then, oh my God, of course that's happening.
And then left them.
What do you mean, of course?
What were the red flags when you thought back?
Just, oh, I don't know.
The relationship had kind of broken down a bit anyway.
Right.
And it was fully believable.
I'm sure all sorts of things start to add up.
retrospectively.
And what did you say to this guy who just randomly messaged you out of the blue?
Did you thank him?
Yeah, I thanked him and I said, thank you for saying
and not like, you know, wondering if you're going to ruin something that maybe didn't want to be ruined,
but I said thanks a lot.
And then when I asked my husband about this lady with her first name, he denied it.
Of course he did.
Really?
Of course he did.
Even though I knew her name.
Yep.
Jeez, and so when did he actually give in and go,
oh, you got me?
He actually has never said it, admitted it.
Really?
What a coward.
I mean, he knows that it's true, but he's never actually.
He said the words.
Yeah.
All right, how about we call him next?
No.
That would be some barnstorming radio, wouldn't it?
He's joking, sorry.
I don't know.
It won't make you do that.
Oh, well, hey, listen, thank you for sharing.
I'm sure it's such a traumatic period in your life
for coming on and sharing that story.
Oh, good.
You deserve better than that.
Have you got better?
You got another person?
No, no, I'm just happy with myself.
Oh, good on, yeah.
In my kids.
John O'Benn and Megan.
The podcast.
The hits.
Were you the other person in the relationship?
You found out that the person you were having a little something with was actually already hooked up.
And did you alert them?
We got anonymous with us.
How are you?
Good morning.
Good morning.
What happened?
So my husband at the time was having a affair with his HR.
I rung her husband and gave him the fax
so that he could make up his own mind what was going on.
Yeah.
Crazy.
So how does that phone call go?
It was a very interesting phone call.
It was a very, he was denying it going, no, it can't be happening, can't be happening.
and then you could almost hear the moment that it clicked in his head that it was happening.
Yeah, they're still together.
They are.
Wow.
And what happened when you obviously went to talk to your husband at the time about it?
He was denying it for a start until I put all the facts out in front of him,
and then it was the next day we were separated.
Oh, jeez.
Wow, geez, quick turnaround.
And what made you suspect?
There was a lot of things, but the, like, the little.
late night messages to each other and going on work trips that weren't work trips and yeah there's a few
things adding up she was very resourceful humans yeah gosh that's tacky me and ben both screwed up
up i was like oh and so uh now what are you doing uh just alive living life happy yeah yeah well happy
that's not going on in your life because you know one deserves that yeah i'm so sorry you had to go
through that and so obviously she broke up with her partner
They're still together.
Oh, her and, oh, right, they're reworking through things.
Yep.
Yeah, no, they're still together.
They've, yeah, had a kid together and, yeah, never broke up, so.
Sorry, are you talking about your ex-husband?
No, so the person he had the fear on is still with her husband.
Oh, sorry, I got to confuse.
So where did that leave your ex?
He kind of separated, well, went on his own for a little bit,
and has now found somebody else in his marriage with another child.
Oh, shit.
I'll tell you what.
Thank you for sharing this juicy, juicy content, Anonymous.
We're going to put you in the jaw for Olivia Dina, right?
No, thank you.
I hope you deserve something.
You deserve lots of happiness without that.
John O'Benn and Megan.

All righty, the New Zealand Herald's Deelie Quiz.
With our quiz queen, producer grace.
Phone free for this.
We have phone free Tuesdays after the radio show.
phone-free New Zealand here all daily quizzes as well.
No loud, not allowed to use that, but we have a lifeline.
Yeah.
Okay, you guys ready for question number one?
Yes, ma'am.
What component of blood exists to cause clotting when a wound occurs?
Is it the white blood cells, the platelets, or hemoglobin?
Hemoglobin.
Because you're a hemophiliac if it doesn't clot.
Okay.
We're locking that in?
Yeah.
It's incorrect.
Yeah, I thought that was incorrect by your facial features.
You guys were so sure of your.
So sure.
I don't donate blood.
I would have thought the blood lady would have.
Yeah, it's platelets.
I'll double check it.
We can double check because he was so sure.
But you're a hemophiliac if your blood doesn't clock.
Yeah, she does donate a lot of blood, doesn't she?
I mean, me, I always get stuff wrong.
I was just throwing stuff out there, but I was surprised that I'd said the same answer as the bloodlake.
Yeah, yeah.
So I gave me some blind confidence on that question.
I really thought Megan would nail this because she is the blood lay.
She's the blood leg.
Donates blood monthly to the New Zealand blood service.
So what are the hemoglobin?
I know, but I don't.
I'm not a bloody phlebotomist.
I don't.
Good to know what you were so sure of the answer.
You were so sure.
You can say, hey, I donate blood.
Only because a hemophiliac,
that means your blood doesn't clot.
A hemoglobin is an iron-rich protein
and red blood cells that carries oxygen
from your lungs to the rest of your body.
Can we change the answer for us?
Well, call it if your blood doesn't cock,
call it a platetone.
Megan, the answer was right.
wrong, man.
Yeah, I'm sorry.
We're both going to take in the chin off.
Me as well, I'm responsible.
What was question two out of interest?
Just see if we would have plowed on.
I will, I will, question number two?
We can't answer that.
You can't answer it, but it's who played Tinkerbell in the 1991 fantasy adventure
film hook.
Oh, that was Julie Roberts, wasn't it?
Oh, we would have got on.
I think it was.
Guys, I perfor.
Yeah, it was.
I normally put my ham and cheese croissant on at the start of the quiz.
And then by the time, we're done two breaks of the quiz.
John O'Neon and Megan.
The podcast.
Yesterday was having a conversation with Jen, my wife.
And just in any conversation, it doesn't necessarily have to be with your partner.
Sometimes your mind wanders, you know, when you're talking halfway through the conversation.
I know producer Grace, she makes us all hold eye contact with her so she knows that we're digesting the information.
Look at me.
Look at me.
She won't start what she's saying until we're looking at her dead in the eyes.
I know.
It's a good theory.
I can tell, you know, with, yeah.
Both these guys, I can tell when they're at.
locked in or not.
I'm like,
yeah,
we'll have that conversation
again later
because they haven't quite
digested that.
And then they'll go,
blah,
you're like,
yeah,
we didn't talk about that
but anyway.
Must be frustrating.
Must be frustrating.
So I understand
why you've employed
the Remain eye contact
system there,
Grace.
But yesterday we're just,
we're talking about something
and again,
my mind wandered to other stuff.
She,
Jen, obviously,
probably knew it,
same as you been,
she can tell
when I'm soaking up the info.
You glaze over.
She's like,
are you even listening?
Because I'm making all the right facial expressions, nodding,
and I think I'm selling the fact that I'm listening.
And she's, are you even listening?
Now you've got two options here.
You can be honest and say, no, I'm not.
I made a terrible one say, oh, you can lie.
I chose option B, lying.
I said, of course I'm listening.
What are we talking about then?
Oh, that was a big question from her.
And a fair question, too, to be honest.
Yeah, that was a pretty good follow-up, too.
Do you go into your mind
and I try and replay it back
through my eyes?
You're like replay, replay, replay, replay.
But you've got a split second.
Yeah, you don't have time to...
Yeah.
It's like when a guy's asked something
and he doesn't want to answer the question,
he'll just go, huh.
Yeah, it gives you a bit of time
for them to hope they repeat the question.
You do that all the time.
Yeah, just buys your three or four seconds.
Now, you know, we're pulling back the curtain here for the guys,
but it's a tactic that we use from time to time.
Then I was, I don't know, this is never going to happen again in my marital career,
but I just pulled it out of thin air, guys.
I said, we're talking about the compost bins and what day they needed to go out.
And I could tell she's like, you son of a bit.
You're just fluked this.
Was it a wild guest?
Well, it's kind of maybe subliminally and digested it.
I think my wife gets annoyed because I do listen,
but I am quite good at thinking about something else.
and multitasking
and she's like, you're not listening
but then I've picked up enough
to go, yeah, how we're talking about?
She's like, oh, is she?
And you've given her three points.
Yeah, well done.
We all know that you didn't listen.
You've just bullet pointers.
I don't know how those three things connect.
I've heard keywords over the last little bit.
I'm like, yeah, yeah, good.
I've seen both of those play out in real time.
Yeah.
And I'm talking in the studio.
John will be like, huh?
And Ben's like, oh yeah, you're talking about,
uh, Liam Lawson.
Keyword Liam Lawson, Red Bull

The Hits
Producer Troy
In the first thing in the morning
You like to look at what's happening
around the world
And send us an email of some of the things
That's going on
Something very exciting
Stevie Wonder's touring again
Which is my number one artist
He's the artist for me
That I would pay
Any amount of money to see live
Oh wow
Right like right now
Given that you're hot off Olivia Dean
Bruno Mars
You also have
Somba tickets.
If Stevie Wonder announced
a show today.
I'd sell those warriors tickets
for $100,000,
those things.
If it was this afternoon,
midday, pre-tip pre,
what is it,
pre-sales,
would you go in there?
You'd have to, right?
It would hurt.
I would probably sell
Bruno, Olivia,
and Somba to go to Stevie.
I mean, he's got some
amazing songs,
but you were saying,
oh, it's 50 years
of his album songs
in the Key of Life,
which, in my opinion,
is the greatest album of all time.
I mean, he's got some big hats.
I guess it's all just
It's all up to your own tastes
Is it?
I knew you were going to
Oh, that's a good song
That's a good song
I've come with receipts
Okay
This is why I think this is the greatest
album of all time
21 songs
It won four Grammy Awards
This album launched
Synthesiser music
Before this
Since weren't being used
So all pop
All R&B
Started with this album
And it's just the album
It reflects the human experience
It's got joy
heartbreak, social justice,
childhood wonder.
And you haven't mentioned he was blind too.
And he was blind the whole time.
He couldn't see anything.
Or was it.
There is a rumour that he's not.
It's a hell of a schick to stick with the 50 years.
Your whole life, yeah.
Can't go out in public just like
seeing things.
So this is really hard.
It is very subjective.
Not saying that it's not an incredible album
because it is, but is it the greatest album of all time.
4487 on the text.
I don't think we're going to solve this argument this morning.
But it'd be nice to get your thoughts.
and what is the album for you?
That is a really good argument
you've put forward though.
Like, I don't, yeah,
I don't have anything.
You can't argue against it.
I really like Mews,
and I think some of the albums
are probably some of the greatest.
Oh, yeah.
He composed...
Yeah, and composes, like,
his own symphonies in an album,
which is, like, kind of unheard of these days.
You know what Mew's used, though?
Synthesizers.
Oh, and who came up with Sinsicist?
Synthethyth, I can't be saying.
Who wants to came up with that word that we can't even pronounce.
Yes, but the first car wasn't as good as like a new Ferrari.
So they've taken it and they're better.
So what is it?
What is it?
I'll tell you what, and I mean, it's up there for me.
It's far.
I don't know if it's my one or all time, but my daughter, Indy's really getting into Lauren Hill at the moment.
And listen to the miseducation of Lauren Hill, that is a banger of an album.
She's kind of one and done, wasn't she?
Yeah, I mean, yeah.
Like, we sort of, yeah.
And that's kind of me of the cool thing I think about kids these days.
from social media, like say what you want about social media,
but their musical taste,
they're, I think of Tom Petty, Oasis,
you know, Billy Joel, they're listening to Sabrina Carpenter,
some Siena, Sparta, all sorts.
Their music is just everyone.
Oh yeah, my son's listening to some Franks and Archeras
stuff in the 1930s.
Yeah, it's really eclectic mix now does.
It's kind of cool, actually, yeah.
Okay, so usually radio stations
would dedicate a three-week campaign
to finding the best for album ever, not us.
Six o'clock in the morning.
We're going to knock it off before 10 to 7.
John O'Ben and Megan, the podcast.
The Hats.
The Greatest Album of All Time.
It's very subjective, of course.
Producer Troy's dying on a hill for Stevie Wonder.
Today marks the 50th anniversary of Stevie Wonder's greatest album ever,
songs in the Key of Life.
And he also's put in brackets.
That argument is not up for debate, says producer.
We decided to debate it, right?
I don't think you can debate that it was hugely influential.
Yeah, exactly.
And all these are great albums.
We're not saying they're not a great album.
And then, as he said, did it all blind.
Makes it even more oppressive
Yeah, gone on blind
Wasn't he?
What he turned out was incredible
Yeah, so very, very incredible
But Troy did actually come with some hard facts
And stats saying, you know,
First time the synthesizer was used
Or, you know, the introduction of soul and R&B
And, you know, hip-hop from that point on
Yeah, songs of the Key of Life.
We wouldn't have songs in the Kiev of Springfield
One of my favourite albums, which is the Springfield
Simpsons.
Do the Bartman?
Now I get the reference of why it was called Songs in the King of Springfield.
All these years later.
I'm like, oh, see, that's very clever.
You have so many moments like that with The Simpsons.
I see why they did that now.
So, yeah, 0,800 the hits.
We're going to solve a problem now, greatest album of all time.
I'm going to chuck one out there.
I'm going to say, appetite for destruction.
Guns and Roses, and just three of the songs on there.
Sweet child of mine, absolute ripper.
Then welcome to the jungle.
And Paradise City.
You know, Night Train was on there, Mr. Brownstone.
That was a wild.
That was the highest selling debut album ever.
Wow.
Really?
Yeah.
All right.
That's very good.
That's really good.
This got the calls.
We've got three calls coming through.
Ah, Paul, welcome.
Hi, how you doing?
Yeah, we're doing well, Paul.
Happy New Year to you.
For some reason, it's really early to do this,
but we're trying to find our greatest album ever.
What is it for you?
Well, as you say, it's subjective.
And I get this Stevie Wonder thing,
but I would have gone within the visions,
but I'm going to say for songs that go from start
or albums go start for finish,
you've got to go Dark Side of the Moon
or maybe a bit of Jagged Little Pill from...
Alanus, yeah.
That was a great album.
Well, ChapT has put Dark Side of the Moon up there
and that's top five this morning.
Yeah, I was just asking you before,
so you're a very good album.
An Alana's a great album.
A great album.
And Paul sounds like an aficionado.
He's got a wide spectrum of music there, Paul.
Hey, thank you.
Put your foot.
Good options.
Kane, welcome.
Greatest album ever.
Oh, I am.
It's...
Jenny Boyce, Ben's mum, put him out.
Yeah, love it.
I mean, it's been turning
into musicals, movies.
Yeah, I mean, yeah.
They've done it all.
Still gone.
Okay, well, yeah.
And again, we keep coming back to this.
It's all just personal preference, is it?
Yeah, but that's a great album.
Different strokes.
Different folks.
David, good morning.
Greatest album ever.
Link in the park minutes and midnight.
Oh, no.
for one.
It's very good.
Yeah, producer grace agrees with that one.
That was her childhood.
She knows all the beginning bits of that song.
Yeah.
As I said before, chat GPT, this was its top five just before, just quickly.
Number five, Michael Jackson Thriller.
Number four, Fleetwood Mac Rumors.
Number three, Stevie Wonder songs in the Key of Life.
Number two, Pink Floyd, Dark So the Moon.
And number one, the Beatles, Abby Road.
Oh.
Is what chat GPT said.
But again, it says it's very subjective.
That also.
It's how you're feeling in the moment?
Like, I can love Guns and Rose Sweet Child of mine
and then feel like a bit of Alanis another time
and it will be perfect for the moment.
So they can all be good.
All eyes on me?
Tupac?
That was a hell of an album.
Looking hard.
So yeah, and why do we have to pit the albums against each other?
Why can't they all be great?
Exactly.
And why do we have put women against each other in the workplace?
I don't know why we're getting into that topic anyway.
John O'Benn and Megan.
I was just saying to you guys, you would be proud of me because I've made adult friends.
That's cool.
It's hard, isn't it, to make friends as adults?
Yeah.
I'm not hard.
I just think people have their friend group and they're probably like, I don't see them enough.
And you're like, you don't have a lot of time.
And then you meet new people.
I get like real anxious when I meet new people and I don't know what to talk about.
So they'll, it's more.
Which surprises us, you know, and it shows that you're being, you know, like being honest here now.
Because you talk for a job, you know, and people would find that hard to believe.
But I'm just talking to you too, essentially.
You don't think about anyone else.
If you look at the latest figures, that's all you're talking to.
That's all right.
We like listening to you.
Thanks.
More people could, they'll be good, but hey, that's all right.
Me, you just like to talk.
Keep it close to that.
So I have managed to find a group of women who like to listen to me talk to.
And it's a bunch of moms from my kids' school.
And they invited me on a girl's trip.
That's cool.
And I was like, oh my God, cool.
They must like me.
Yeah, right.
When did this invite come out?
It was like a month ago.
I think I might have been filling a space, but that's okay.
That's all right.
That's okay.
I'm cool with that.
And so I have taken someone's flights that couldn't come.
So I was like, great, paid for it.
And they were like, we're going to do all these fun things.
It's going to be awesome.
And now I've been sent a registration.
form for the
Queenstown Marathon
and I know that there's other options
so I could do the 10K
Oh it's a marathon
girls weekend away
Yeah
A rough fitness one
Yeah
So there's gonna be fun stuff
Now you because you did sign up for run club
Remember you're so proud
You're putting it on social media
A neighbourhood run club
That was 5K and I think I did it twice
All right
There's no more run club now
No
No run club to a hundred
Go to the run club to a marathon.
Do they give you any clue?
Like, oh, you've got to have stamina for the weekend?
And you're like, yeah, I will, well be there.
Yeah.
Not an sexual run.
But they exercise hard and party hard too.
And I'm like, I don't do either of those hard.
I'm like, exercise soft, party soft.
Do you think it's an option?
The whole time, consistently.
Do you think it's an option not to do the run or do you think you need to do some form of that?
I mean, they've said, you don't have.
have to.
But I don't want to be, like,
I don't even have a lazy one.
You can choose, like, other options, can't you?
Well, there's a 10-K.
They were like, you could do the 10-K.
And also, I like fast walk rather than run.
So my friend was like, well, I'll do the marathon.
And, you know, so you've got ages to complete the 10-K.
100% she would finish that marathon before I finish the 10-K.
She's going to run 42 kilometres.
Shut up.
Oh, no, I'm just, I'm just getting, explaining the distance.
I know.
So I can't wake up in this hotel, like, and be like, see.
you guys have a good run I'm just going to go back to bed but by the time you wake up they might have
finished the marathon you could be having breakfast to be like how is that guys you know you could do
that yeah also one of the other fun activities is um doing a winery tour great yeah great on bikes
geez these guys are productive yeah I'm not the friends for you so I'm like I say knowing you
like I do I mean I don't want to have wine and exercise but also like I'm terrible the wrong
Fred, the wrong crowd.
Here we're on a bike.
I'm definitely going to crash.
I can't ride a bike at the best of times.
Especially if you just run 10Ks as well, your legs aren't going to move, mate.
Okay, 4-487 on the tech, so 800 of the hats.
Let's make Megan feel a little bit better this morning.
What are you regret saying yes to, signing up for?
And then later you're like, oh, what did I do that?
Maybe they like me because they don't know me that well.
It's a bold claim for them to go shield like a marathon, you know,
and not even tell you that you.
That's the core purpose of the trip.
Okay, what did you sign up for that you really regret?
I'd love to hear from you.
John O'Ben and Megan, the podcast.
The Hats.
Well, you agreed for a fun sounding girls' weekend away in Queensland.
With my new adult friends, I was like, oh my God, they've invited me for a girls' weekend in Queenstown.
I'm thinking onsen, I'm thinking like wines, you know, all that kind of stuff.
Oh, they've got the wines.
Yeah.
After a marathon.
After they've run a marathon.
Yeah, so they're all going for the Queensland Marathon, and I've been sent a registration.
I'm like, pooh.
Oh, no, that's not for me.
Sounds like a job for Marathon Maddie McLean, our afternoon host.
He would ever, girls week in away with Maddie, running marathons.
He would have a blast.
He can come and take my registration.
So, yeah, what do you regret signing up for?
We've got Stacey with us.
Happy New Year to you, Stacey.
Yeah, happy New Year.
Hey, man.
Yeah, that's the show catchphrase.
All right, what do you regret signing up for, Stacey?
Getting married at 22.
too young.
Oh, I regret signing up for that.
Shout out to Stacey's wife,
and we still with.
Yeah.
Oh, so if you did it all again,
you'd say basically it was too soon.
Yeah, no, we broke up a year after.
After the wedding?
Yeah, yeah.
So after the wedding,
we spent five years,
after the wedding,
we broke up,
and it was just an abusive relationship,
you know?
Sorry to hear that.
Oh, that's no good.
I think that's a,
I feel like, yeah,
But when you're young, you don't know, you think you know it all.
And then you're like, you get to an age, I say that the kids.
I'm like, oh, you're not going to think the same.
You can't agree with that.
But at the time, I was thinking the same thing.
So, yeah.
I got married at 25, and I think that was too young as well.
Obviously, that didn't work out.
But you also still don't know everything in your mid-40s either.
No, that's true.
But you do know more than you knew in your mid-20s.
Yeah.
Are you in a happy relationship now, Stacey?
Yeah, I broke all of the day.
I'm going to motorbike got way happier.
Well, good on you, mate.
Thank you.
I see you, man.
Appreciate you call.
Emma, his phone through.
Now, Emma is actually the tour party organizer of Megan's trip to Queensland.
Emma, lovely to have you on.
Morning.
And now we're just talking about how much Megan's looking forward to going.
It's particularly the one part.
What's her options?
I mean, because honestly, she is really excited about going
for the weekend. She's nervous about the run. What's her options running wise?
Well, I mean, we could go all in and do the marathon, but there'd be a very quick, quick build.
Yeah, there's a half marathon and there's a 10K, and the 10K starts nice and early.
So you'd be finished by 8.39 o'clock. Time for shopping before I cross the line a few hours later.
A whole day ahead of you, Megan.
Finished. What time does it start?
Seven.
There you go. I'm running at seven.
But also what gave me hope there, Emma, is you say, you said, you said, you said.
said a quick build and we could get her up to
marathon status.
That's quick build.
Yeah, we can do it.
Quick build.
Are you joking?
No.
It's like how many, is it two months away?
Yeah, I don't know if I'd have a friend at the end of it.
I'm stressing about a 10K.
Also, you would definitely cross the finish line doing that marathon before I even do the 10K.
100%.
No, not at all.
It'll be time for shopping before I cross the lane.
Can I just ask you, on the itinerary of the weekends,
you've done the whole marathon in the morning,
then she's talking about a bike ride wine to it.
Is that all happening in the same day, Emma?
No, after the marathon, we've got hot pools and dinner.
Yes.
And then on the Sunday morning, we've got,
it's an e-bite ride and winery.
Oh, the bike does it all.
Yeah, there you go, Megan.
I've never ridden an e-bike.
Oh, it's easy.
My issues with riding a bike is the steering.
I always run into things.
Oh, it's a quick-weld, Megan, it's a quick-wild.
Speed.
All I'm hearing a problem, Zella.
I don't know why you invited this lady on your girls.
Next time, we've got Maddie McClellan.
He's keen.
