Starting point is 00:00:00 The John O'Benna Megan podcast, thanks to Dilma. Goodness really does taste great. Dilma, making the world a better tea. Megan, you've done something. I, okay, I can admit I'm competitive, okay? I don't always think it's a bad thing. It's not, no, it's made us weary of you. Scares.
Starting point is 00:00:19 I was running for like a silver lining. Yeah, noted. I mean, and the dates back, the more we learn about you, it dates back to your father, wanting you to get better and better and drive you to success. What was the famous line when you came home? I got 80% in my English exam, and I was stoked. That's an A.
Starting point is 00:00:36 And Dad was like, what happened to the other 20%? Good stuff. That's character building. That's good. I don't know. It's made you a driven person, though. Yes. And I think I might be passing it down.
Starting point is 00:00:48 So I went to swimming lessons. It was Bashan. He did them when he was younger, but he's just going back to swimming lessons now as a five-year-old. And they were like, okay, while we assess, where he's at, we'll put him in beginner one. And I was like, great. And she made the mistake of saying to me that they have people going around on iPads.
Starting point is 00:01:08 And so they kind of assess them as they go and they look and they do like little, you know, they do little tests in the pool to see if they need to go up a level. Do some grading. Why is that a mistake her telling you how... Because I was like, all right, Bastie, we're going to go up a level. So he had to do it. Is this day one of him swimming, is it?
Starting point is 00:01:27 Yes. Okay, alright. This isn't even like official. He's never even jumped into the pool before. Yeah, so he had to do a starfish on his face for four seconds and he had to hold it. And like, it took him a couple of goes and I was like, Basty, four seconds. You have to go on up a four seconds. You can do it, bud.
Starting point is 00:01:45 You can do it. And I could hear myself. But I was like, I never know where the line is from encouraging to. Oh, so you're not saying this internally. Nope. This is coming out of your mouth. Yep. In front of all the other people there.
Starting point is 00:01:57 Yep. So, and then he does, he ends up doing five seconds. And I was like, excelling. Level up. Overshot it. Get you to lie pad, mate. Do the level up on the pad. Then he had to doggie paddle across the little lane.
Starting point is 00:02:11 And if he could do that, he could, they were like, okay, well, he's pretty competent. He can move up. And then he starts and I'm like, that's not doggy. But buddy, you've got to do your legs too. Do your legs too. Come on. So he's doing his arms and he's like, kicking his legs. And then he stops halfway through.
Starting point is 00:02:25 I was like, you've got to go all the way across to the other side. all the way across and he's like okay okay so he ends up doing it and just as the lady with the iPad comes over and I'm like sitting there like perched on the edge of my seat and I was like this is it babe to my husband I was like this is it he's got to show them that he can do it
Starting point is 00:02:42 I was like go bashin my husband's like you need to calm down you're in a frenzy he's like this isn't the Olympics okay and as soon as they're done and they came over and she was like I think he needs to go up a level and like
Starting point is 00:02:57 the elation I felt inside, I felt like he'd won a gold medal. And that level is Los Angeles Olympics 2028. Afterwards, he was like... This is the best swimmer I've ever seen at this age. He was like, I'm going to go up a level every lesson. I was like,
Starting point is 00:03:11 if you set your mind to it, you can do whatever you want, buddy. Focus! I was like, you got it! And Andrew's like, as long as you have fun, it's all just to have fun and, you know, it's about safety. And I was like, and you work hard and you can get that gold cap. I reckon you need to sit in the car.
Starting point is 00:03:27 In the car park No, Andrew's already said you're not coming Fair enough Yeah John O'Ben and Megan The podcast The Hats We wanted to know
Starting point is 00:03:35 Did you have a bad first impression of someone that ended up being your partner? Yeah I'm not actually surprised That this story has come out Because Jason Kelsey He's so much fun He is Travis Kelsey's brother
Starting point is 00:03:48 And they do a podcast together Travis Kelsey of Taylor Swift With Taylor Swift With Taylor Swift So Jason Kelsey Taylor Swift's brother-in-law There we go Full Jandall guy
Starting point is 00:03:57 Jandals everywhere he goes. Love taking this top off too, isn't he? Absolute lad who played NFL. But he's a lovable lad. Yeah. It's just like if there was anyone to scream USA, USA, USA, USA, well, spinning a t-shirt around the top of the head. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:04:13 It'd be this too. Yeah. Yeah. So on the, was this revealed on his podcast or did his wife go on another podcast? Yeah, look, so she was talking about their relationship on something. And yeah, and the first time that they actually, well, he messaged her was like on Tinder or something and she they did some digging and they were like Jason Kelsey that can't be the same football but then we should turn up to the bar anyway because if it's either a catfish as you're
Starting point is 00:04:38 here just now or it could be the footballer here's how it started and how it ended he won't let me lie about this we met on Tinder Jason 27 he said oh come meet us at this bar but right away as soon she walks to the door like most beautiful woman I've ever seen 45 minutes later he fell asleep at the bar like just out like a sleep asleep not the best first impression for me 45 me geez he had a powerful 45 minutes of drinking yeah that kind of suggested you had a few i think he might have a few before i think yeah his timing was all off the most incredible thing about the story is that there was with a couple of football people he's a big dude one of his other got football mates picked him in a fireman's carry and carried him back so it was a combination
Starting point is 00:05:21 I was like, who, that's impressive. So she was probably like, it would have been easier if he was just being catfished actually. Now I'm just sitting here on a date with an unconscious human being. But, hey, it ended up working out for them. And now they're, you know, they've got kids, they're married, yeah. Love me as I am. Love me at my worst or don't love me at all.
Starting point is 00:05:40 Did they talk about what the call, was there a phone call the next day? Was there a message the next day? I don't know, like a hey, yeah, sorry about that, you know. she's a better woman than me I'm not afraid to admit that I probably would have been like not for me first date probably not for me yeah again though he looks like a guy who would scream USA USA
Starting point is 00:05:59 with his t-shirt on top of his head but also the same sort of guy who would pass out in a bar too so I mean you get yeah yeah he's living up to the the stereotype so oh 800 of the hits worst first impression of your partner I used to work with when I met Amanda it was in different departments of the same building at the radio pretty close direct department
Starting point is 00:06:18 But the first time I met her was by the photocopier. And I was trying to get the photocopier, I was having issues with the photocopier. And all these years later, we still have issues. Yeah. And I think in hindsight, she was like, either this guy's an idiot because you can't work with the photocopier or this is a play to try. And it was definitely not a play. I was just being an idiot. Did she fix it?
Starting point is 00:06:37 Yeah, she fixed it. Oh my God. Start how you mean to carry on in your relationship. And she was always like the years later was there to play. And I was like, no. Oh, you creating a meat cutte's there? Yeah, I wasn't. I was just the Gumbie.
Starting point is 00:06:48 I just want to put the A4 in the tray. It says it's a jam, a paper jam. Era in the loading, which loading tray? You're like, yeah. And she helped me out. And that's, yeah. That's so cute. But that was probably a bad first impression, just thinking is he, you know.
Starting point is 00:07:01 Can this man even operate a photocopier? No, no, I can't. No, I can't even use the one at work. Sometimes people think it's a play and it's cute. And then you marry them and you're like, oh, no, he's actually useless. It's actually the personality trait. Yeah, exactly. I love hearing stories of like when people meet them and it's not great.
Starting point is 00:07:18 great and then they get married. So your first impression of Andrew, you, primary school, was it your? Oh, bugger off. He wasn't at school. No, let's, so he was 18. He was 18. But he wasn't at school, but I was interviewing him for the boy band on a radio station. The interview wasn't in the school yard, but he was.
Starting point is 00:07:43 It doesn't sound any better than what you're talking about, but it's all, it's all fine. They're all married now. Society frowned upon it. Okay. Okay. Great. But it was a great first impression. Did you look at him and go, well, this is going to be problematic.
Starting point is 00:07:57 John O'Benn and Megan. The podcast. The Hits. We just heard about Jason Kelsey, who's the brother of Travis Kelsey. He played football at a very high level for many years. Travis Kelsey, who was the husband of Taylor Swift. It's good to have all these connections. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:08:11 Just for anyone who doesn't know. And he was talking about, well, Jason Kelsey and his now wife, Kylie. They were talking on. Kylie Kelsey. The sister-in-law of Taylor Swift. Yeah, okay. Just get Taylor Swift's name in as many times as we can. Talking about the first time that they met.
Starting point is 00:08:27 He won't let me lie about this. We met on Tinder. Jason 27. He said, oh, come meet us at this bar. But right away, as soon as she walks through the door, like, most beautiful woman I've ever seen. 45 minutes later, he fell asleep at the bar. Like, just out.
Starting point is 00:08:41 Like, asleep asleep. Not the best first impression for me. Not great first date conditions. Are you such a sweet TDB? He is a big teddy bed, only, yeah. But now they're married and have kids. And actually, their kids, I just said the other day. For the first few months, they just called Taylor Swift, Taylor Swift.
Starting point is 00:08:57 They were just, every time they met her, they would just call a Taylor Swift. They don't need to keep saying Taylor Swift. You can just call her, like, Taylor. They were probably, like, massive fans, and now she's your auntie. She's your auntie. Taylor Swift is suddenly your auntie. Oh, my God. She still calls her Taylor Swift.
Starting point is 00:09:15 Yeah. Hey, Taylor Swift, what do you want for breakfast? Taylor Swift. Should we go for a walk? All right, 0-800-the-hits telephone number. Worst First Impressions of your partner. We have Anonymous. So, yeah, after two weeks, I was staying over at his place.
Starting point is 00:09:31 He'd been out with some friends for drinks and was a bit intoxicated. And woke up at about maybe like one or two in the morning, and he was standing in the corner of his room. And I said to him, I was like, what are you doing? and he just kind of like didn't respond and then I just heard him absolutely urinating all over his washing and his washing basket
Starting point is 00:09:53 Oh no No, it's not a great impression So what's going through your mind at this moment Well he got back into bed And then I ended up actually getting up And I left So I walked home in the middle of the night But we are actually filled together
Starting point is 00:10:12 Eight years later Engaged getting married That's a great result What has to happen between You're like yuck I'm walking home To like what did he say the next day I can't actually remember But he was very very apologetic
Starting point is 00:10:29 And this is not like now that I know him This is not the person that I met Oh you bet on that's out of character moment I mean we may all make mistakes We all get flustered at the start It's a good talking point you know To tell people about like how we met and kind of first impression.
Starting point is 00:10:46 Yeah. Does he still look after the washing in the house? We still have a washing basket. It's not the same washing basket. Oh, good, okay. And I could say to him, you should probably burn your washing. Hey, well, good luck for the wedding. Thank you very much.
Starting point is 00:11:04 Cheers. I text here 4487. We met at a wedding and we're both incredibly intoxicated and we called each other a week later. Couldn't remember our names. so both of them had to try and slowly figure out at least they exchanged numbers but neither of them wanted to admit that they'd forgotten each other's names
Starting point is 00:11:23 yeah it would have been like saved as wedding person or something on the phone John O'Benn and Megan The podcast The Hats I think daylight saving This weekend Spring forward so the clocks go forward
Starting point is 00:11:36 So you lose in our sleep But the gain is that we're going into summer Oh good A bit more daylight in the evening It always throws you for a couple of a couple of days after this, isn't it, this one? Yeah. Okay, this is from a magazine called Gathered,
Starting point is 00:11:50 and it has come from clinical psychologists. This is a humble brag that you read psychology magazines. Sure. Yeah, I love it. So this is a list of, they called it unassuming signs of attractiveness, but I'm going to call it signs you might be more attractive than you think. Now, I went through these at hoping I would find me in here, but I think I found more you two specifically Jono
Starting point is 00:12:18 I am beautiful no matter what they say The first one Ben This is crazy Strangers tell you their life story Random people will quickly open up to you and tell you surprisingly personal things The theory is that attractiveness can make people feel drawn to you
Starting point is 00:12:39 and comfortable with you How many times does he wander off and talk to strangers Well, yesterday we're handing out little raffle things at the Warriors, and our boss Harriet was trying to get us all together and we lost John her multiple times. And then she's like, I can't tell if he knows these people really, really well. No. He's just met them because he's got so deep into conversation.
Starting point is 00:12:57 And then he comes back and he's like, oh, I grew up in Canterbury, their parents do this for a job. You got talking to Nick sort of from like, Edapar. Like, he's going to be there all afternoon. We're like waiting to do a photo for about 15 minutes. When I was talking to wonderful Nick, I did have that in the back of my mind. I could feel hairy as I was burning of me.
Starting point is 00:13:17 But they didn't wrap it up. Maybe next year's things I'm beautiful. What can I say? You know? The next one, people seem genuinely excited to see you, which again yesterday, though, everyone's like, God, I'm mad! And I'm like, hey!
Starting point is 00:13:31 They said Megan as well. Oh, it's so many people like, hey, can you take the photo? I was like, I can take the photo. I can take the photo. You do take a wonderful photo, Megan, you really do. People's lips part. when you're talking to them. Oh, is that a sign that you got someone weak at the knees?
Starting point is 00:13:48 So, yeah, apparently, well, this is from clinical psychologist. It's an unconscious response to attraction. So you need to, like, make, oh, your lips have parted, Ben. And I was going, yeah, that was a reaction, though, yeah. That was like, oh, okay. But anyway, you just make people go, oh, all yawning? Yawning's another sign that you, yeah. I've never thought so hard about lips than I am right now.
Starting point is 00:14:07 You get microattention in public. you get more, I mean, it's hard to tell with you guys because people know you, so. What do you mean, micro? What does that mean? So double takes, lingering looks, people like raise their eyebrows when they see you. So like, I didn't even have anyone raised your eyebrows
Starting point is 00:14:26 when I walk past? I've seen eyebrow raising. At you. I saw someone random tried to kiss you on the lips yesterday. I mean, if that's not a sign that you're attracted. You, though. I'm not so that's, yeah. You're constantly invited places
Starting point is 00:14:41 That again is hard because we end up being invited to lots of things Because they want us to talk about it People compliment you on things other than your appearance, Jono So things like You've got good energy I love your vibe, you're so funny That kind of thing Don't I'd never get that
Starting point is 00:14:59 I uh yeah No people always say you're funny I uh But what these again is just to make ugly people feel better about themselves All this whole list None of it's about, like, are you really good looking and, you know, beautiful and handsome or anything? I love your vibe. Good personality.
Starting point is 00:15:15 Yeah, usually that means you're not attractive, but I still like you. Yeah, no, thanks for trying to bring some positivity to the show, Megan. John O'Benn and Megan. The podcast. The Hats. Last week before the school holidays kick in. Jeez. There we go.
Starting point is 00:15:34 They come around quick. They do come around quick. And I keep saying to the kids, appreciate the length of holidays you have. Because, you know, and Siena, your oldest will be the same, Ben. They don't actually go back to school term four. She is a couple weeks, I think you're one. She goes out a couple weeks.
Starting point is 00:15:50 There's like months break. So once they finish their exam, essentially it's a three-month, a three-month sabbatical. And, geez, suck it up, lap it up while you can. Yesterday I felt like a bit of a criminal. I was doing a favour for my neighbour, and she's like my. My car needs to be towed, but I'm not going to get home in time. Is this Emma? Yes.
Starting point is 00:16:13 Emma who's making you run a marathon in Queensland. A 10K. A 10K. For your girls weekend. God, every time I see, she's like, how's the training going? How is the training going? Terrible. Not good.
Starting point is 00:16:23 As in, I'm not doing it. But she rang me and was like, I'm not going to get home in time for the tow truck. Could you just head down there and wait for them? So she was getting like her car towed? Yeah. She's driving another car. but the car at home needs to be towed. I was like, yeah, okay, sweatass, no worries.
Starting point is 00:16:41 It's one of the few times you want your car. So I wandered down and I'm sitting on the mat on the door. Like I was working at home and I had track pants on like jandles and I had a black hoodie. You fell asleep, didn't you? No, oh no, I didn't fall asleep. Real risk though. But I was sitting on the doorstep and then I was like, oh, she gave me the code. So I'm like ferreting around on the code for the door.
Starting point is 00:17:07 and that's when someone pulls up the driveway and I was like, oh, they're here, oh no, I do not know that person. Oh, and you've got a hoodie, track pants, and you're trying to, I see what you're saying. It was the dog walker bringing the dog home, and she was like, oh. You're running a busy operation. Yeah. Yeah, the more floundering. I get it.
Starting point is 00:17:41 And I was like, I have the code to the door. And she's looking at me like, well, why didn't you? Yeah, why didn't you put it in the door? Yeah, can you help me with that? She'd be like, oh, this is suss. This is suss. I look like an absolute criminal. And she was like, does she know you're here?
Starting point is 00:17:58 And I'm like, story I just told you would suggest she does, but I know what you're saying. So I followed her inside and sat down and I was like, oh, she's trusting me. She's let me in. but as she left she's like I'm just going to call her and let her know you're here fair enough that's it I was like she okay yep that's fine
Starting point is 00:18:16 remember our old there was an old boss here at the station Toddy he was working at a radio station in sort of rural Australia and he got in to do his breakfast show one morning and there was someone fosicking around in the office and he didn't know who they were and they they were carrying stuff and he's like
Starting point is 00:18:32 good morning mate he said it looks like you got your hands fuller he said do you need a do you need a hand and so then Todd helped him carry some stuff I think he even order them a taxi as well too and gave him one of the radio station
Starting point is 00:18:41 taxi chits doing a nice thing for what he thought was and then it turned out that someone was stealing all that stuff and he'd help them and then all the team
Starting point is 00:18:50 for the radio station came in after 8 o'clock and like where's all our stuff from the office? Of course he did that checks out so that I can see why you were asked
Starting point is 00:18:59 all those questions John O'Ben and Megan the podcast The Hats My wife got asked for a friend of her is a couple of days ago she was like, are you in an ad for a Tempen bowling place?
Starting point is 00:19:11 And my wife was like, no. Not that I know of. An unusual one to put your name behind, too. I'm sure I saw you and Ben, in an ad for a Tempen Bowling place. I was trying to buy like a voucher thing online and it popped up. Are you Tempen Bowling enthusiasts? I don't mind playing Tempe and bowling, but I could probably count on my hand the the amount of times I've played over the last 45 years.
Starting point is 00:19:33 So the fingers you've put into the ball are the same figures that you're counting. And we're like, no. And then they sent through. My wife's like, can you send through what it is? And she did. And it was, we'd gone to some sort of launch of this place, a particular place. And they had a photo of my wife playing Tempe and Bowling. We got a great time and big laugh.
Starting point is 00:19:53 I think she must have just bowled it. She's having a laugh. And there's people in the background. And then, yeah, my wife's like, not the greatest of her photos for her. She wasn't happy with the technique. She was like, but anyway, it's out there now. And then I'm in the background. And it was a night there was a lot going on at place,
Starting point is 00:20:10 and they were doing face painting for the kids. And I decided for some reason that I'd get face painted. Of course he did. And I've got my face painted like a tiger. Oh my God. I'm sending background with a whole lot of other people. They're all just normal functioning adults. The kids are like, why is this man taking our time slot?
Starting point is 00:20:28 And I'm like, so if anything, it's embarrassing for my wife, but also far more embarrassing for me, because I'm a fully grown adult with no context just with the tiger face paint. So you're fully indulge. of the temper the temper bowling. Time of our lives. Well, dressed like a tiger. Well, at least for face-plated like a tiger.
Starting point is 00:20:43 That's so weird. It's a really weird. We had a rarly good time. A really weird situation. It doesn't remind me at that time that you went to, I think it was like a flight simulator or something, and then you ended up in the ad for them in the Herald. The one down the road here.
Starting point is 00:20:57 I was like, we were doing something for radio, and I was sitting in the cop-makeshift cockpit. Yeah. They asked you afterwards, what was it like? you're like, it was a really good time. And then they pointed their ad, they had a photo of Jotto and a quotation mark saying, it was a really good time.
Starting point is 00:21:14 Wow. For a guy who talks for a living. It was a really good time. Like I'm interviewing a concussed NRL player. It was good time, fun. No, you're like, you've got at least made it sound a little bit. Then it kept getting printed of the paper, and I had the pilot's hat on.
Starting point is 00:21:34 It was a really good time. Like that little winnowish kid taking him to the cockpit to have a lovely little day out. So it can happen. It can live on through the internet or on the paper. Text 4487. Have you unwittingly been the face of a business's campaign just after visiting?
Starting point is 00:21:51 Yeah. Imagine what happened to a lot of people. Yeah, it probably has actually. A friend of mine, he's a guy. He was in a photo in the pool at a resort in a tropical island. I'm keeping this vague because it was like for a honeymoon package. and his schick was he would take all of his girlfriends there.
Starting point is 00:22:08 So he was there with one girlfriend from the past as he was taking his new girlfriend but he was in the brochure. He said the brochure. He said, don't put him with the brochure. By the honeymoon suite with his ex-girlfriend. He said, I was the only one who went to the resort in his speedos. John O'Bin and Megan.
Starting point is 00:22:25 The podcast. The hits. Producer Grace actually sent this through gangbusters on the internet. It's got interesting dilemma too. I can imagine you being put in this. position being and how you would react. Have a listen.
Starting point is 00:22:39 My wife and I work near each other and finish around the same time. So I usually drive her home. Recently, a female colleague of mine realized we had the same way. She started hitching a ride with me after work. Because she gets in the car first, she sits in the front passenger seat. Then we drive over to pick up my wife. This is where the drama starts. My wife firmly believes the front seat belongs to her.
Starting point is 00:23:03 So the wife's being shunted in the back while the female colleague rides shotgun. Now the rules that we've all abided by with shotgun, you know, whoever's in shotgun they stay in shotgun, you know, but does the rules of marriage outweigh the rules of shotgun? That's the debate. Because you first, well, I guess
Starting point is 00:23:20 like the first scenario, fine, the person's getting in the car, the husband's driving and he's got the colleague with him. Because if she jumps to the back, it's like an Uber ride. It's going to be weird if she's in the back. So that's fine, right? You'd agree that's fine. That's fine. No debate there. She's not being taxied. No, so she's sitting in there they're going but now they're picking up the wife.
Starting point is 00:23:37 So what happens in this? Before I say anything, can you guys say what would happen in your scenario? In that exact scenario. In all honesty, I believe the colleague probably needs to go, oh, the wife deserves to sit in the front. I'd get out of the car and sit in the back. If I was the female colleague. If I was, yeah, I'd probably say,
Starting point is 00:23:53 hey, do you want to jump in the front? It's probably the first thing I would say to the wife. Hey, do you want to jump in the front? It's your guy's car, you know? But also, we don't like drama. Yeah. But then if the wife was, if the wife was, the wife said,
Starting point is 00:24:05 I don't know, you're all good, stay there, then I'd probably, yeah, okay. For future rides, you'll just stay in the front. Well, I don't know. I mean, probably every time we'd offer it. Hey, you sure do want to jump in or go around to the back? Okay, so you're driving and you know that your wife is annoyed and doesn't want to sit in the back.
Starting point is 00:24:21 She's like, that's my seat. But she doesn't say anything, and she gets in the back and is silent and pissed off. And you can tell there's something brewing. Well, at that point, I would open the front door and dive roll out of the vehicle onto the motorway. Probably the safest option.
Starting point is 00:24:39 What would you, okay, so Andrew is driving a female colleague home. He picks you up second. I sit in the back seat. You don't say anything. No, I don't care. You're right, but so... I just go by the rules of the car.
Starting point is 00:24:50 I'm not going to make someone get out of the front seat so I can sit in the front seat. Right. But like, again, if that was me and I was, okay, say I'm driving with you to go get Amanda. Okay. I'd get out and sit in the back
Starting point is 00:25:04 because I'm probably going to get out of the car first too, right? Yeah, and so, oh, you hop in here. Yeah, so then I get out of the car, she's going to have to move to the front anyway. Oh, you're just purely basing this off logistics. You know, that's a good thought? I don't want to make her sit in the back. Because it's their kind of cut.
Starting point is 00:25:19 I don't know, that's just what I would do, but I also wouldn't make someone get out of the front seat. Okay, does the wife deserve to be angry in this situation? All three of us, again, second time this morning. We're all agreeing. I had the same debate, well, with my... my kids because they called shotgun on me the other day and, you know, my wife was driving
Starting point is 00:25:36 and I had to sit in the back and I was like, well, the same sort of situation. I was like, hey, whoa, whoa, whoa, this is our car. Age and ownership over on shotgun. They're like, it's not the rules of shotgun. So I said to sit in the back of the car. But there is. You got help voted.
Starting point is 00:25:50 I did. My point is there is a second argument there is that he knows his wife isn't happy with it. And when they kick off, he just lets it happen and he's like, me. It's like, who's he's supposed to stand up for? Where does he stand in that scenario? Okay, 0-800 the hits.
Starting point is 00:26:05 Should the husband be booting the colleague to the back seat in favour of the wife? Big play. Power move by the colleague, really, isn't it? Yeah. Because the colleague knows that she's creating in a spicy environment. Yeah. She knows what she's doing. I think we probably all agree the colleague's in the wrong here.
Starting point is 00:26:22 And getting a free right as well. That's a power move. So should the, I guess the question is, should the husband be stepping in? Yeah. And playing the dictator of secret. John O' Ben and me. The podcast. The heads.
Starting point is 00:26:34 Well, right now we're having a debate because it's doing the rounds on the internet. Megan, summarize it quickly. Okay, so a husband is driving the car and he offers the colleague, a female colleague, a ride home, so she jumps in the front seat. But they go to pick up his wife and she wants to sit in the front seat, but the colleague won't move. She's just setting some dominance. The fight ensues, but the husband stays out of it. like, I am the partner.
Starting point is 00:27:04 I'm in the front seat. Who's in the wrong? Who should say something? It's a very spicy situation. Would it be an issue if it was a male colleague? Probably. Oh, yes. But probably for not as many reasons. Yeah, but still would be, I think, a bit of an issue.
Starting point is 00:27:22 But not as why I see what you're saying. If the wife wanted to sit in the front seat, she'd be like, oh, that's about Rudy didn't. Yeah. I think there's more issues when it's a female. Okay. I guarantee you one thing he's doing. He's not looking in the rear vision mirror at the back seat, is he driving home? But he's also not getting involved. He didn't say anything.
Starting point is 00:27:38 And Jack has messaged in and said, the colleague should go to the back when he picks up his wife. The colleague needs to get to work in her own vehicle if it's going to continue in a disagreement. Remember your vows, dude, or grow up here, says Jack. I do remember my vows. Your wife shall always ride shotgun. And I'll never forget those romantic words. Ross, morning to you.
Starting point is 00:27:59 Should the husband be stepping in here and taking control? I, well, firstly, I just like I say, I agree that the college should just kind of have a bit of civil kind of, you know, realize, read the room and, you know, jump in the back seat to begin with. I'm only going to short trip or pick up your wife and I'm getting out first, you know. That's fairly simple. But if there's an issue, you know, when said dude shows up to pick up the wife, say, honey, we like to drive, you know, or just get out, get in the back seat. That's not bad. You drive, please. You guys drive home.
Starting point is 00:28:31 I'll take it over. I'll sit in the back seat the whole way City Railway City rail link's pretty good now as I'll hop on the train Make it more awkward Hey it's good suggestion I like that Ross
Starting point is 00:28:41 Make it the air problem Gina morning to you Hi guys Happy New Year Happy New Year Show catchphrase Gina your husband picks you up He's got a female colleague
Starting point is 00:28:50 In the front seat You're the wife Are you offended that you're sitting in the back And do you think your husband Should be stepping in I don't think it's up to the husband To step in Like if she's got a problem
Starting point is 00:29:01 Why isn't she? She's verbalising it. And if she's too chicken to do that, then she could just use an excuse. Like, oh, you know, I get car seat in the back or something like that. Gotcha. Do you mind if I get in the front because I'm, yeah, okay. So put the big girl pants on.
Starting point is 00:29:16 Sharon, who we work with the many years at the edge, that was her thing. She's like, I get car sick. I'm always in the front. She always was. She was, yeah. She didn't ask us if either of us got car sick. No, no. But the three of us have asserted very, we always sit in the same seat.
Starting point is 00:29:30 Yeah. John is in the front. It just chats to the person driving. Clearly for social reasons. Choose their air off. We're like, ah. You go behind, Jono. I'm on the other side.
Starting point is 00:29:39 And you can all ignore what's happening at the front. Amia, welcome. Good morning. Lovely to have you on. Okay, should the husband be stepping in and playing a... Mediator or one. That's the one of the word. Adjudicator.
Starting point is 00:29:51 Good word, Megan. Well, I think, firstly, that colleague has got a lot of audacity. Mm-hmm. Honestly, like, that's so crazy. I mean, I'm like Megan, in that situation, I would just be like, I would just get out and get in the back seat. But it does make you wonder what ulterior motives she has, because she would know very well that she's throwing a spanner in that relationship. Yeah, that would definitely be suspicious. So I think the husband should just say to the colleague, find your own way to work.
Starting point is 00:30:25 Okay. You're causing issues for me. Okay. Yeah. Producer Troy did bring up a point. he was like, it kind of seems like if the do's not standing up for his wife, even though she's been a bit cray-cray, the situation is fishy then? Because, like, how long is the ride to the wife?
Starting point is 00:30:42 She's sitting in the front. He's not standing up for the wife and saying anything. And why is the colleague being so adamant about it? Yeah, it seems like she's like... Yeah. Well, one thing's for certain. Let's all feel sorry for that husband. Gee, whiz.
Starting point is 00:30:57 Wouldn't want to be in that position. John O'Benn and me. The podcast. The heads. Now, we've all got dogs, three of us. Leo, Bo, Milo. Yeah. And yesterday I was required to do something in my dog career.
Starting point is 00:31:11 Never actually. It was an actual first, actually. Three or four years we've had Milo and was requested by one of the professionals that I gather is temperature with a thermometer. Oh. Have you ever had to do that? I've never had to do that. No.
Starting point is 00:31:25 No. Well, traditionally, the way I've always known how we get temperatures, from thermometers as we stick them in our mouths. Not dogs. Right. Not dogs. Did you have a thermometer? Like, you didn't have like one of those ones you put to, I was going to say the forehead.
Starting point is 00:31:42 Yeah. Oh, yeah, I like the ones you just hold in the air and wait for the button to go, beep. No, no, didn't everyone knows. He had one of the old school ones. Can you do that with a dog? Well, you lift the tail up. Oh, God. And just the look of betrayal in the poor fella's eyes.
Starting point is 00:31:58 He's like, what? what on earth this is I've known you a long time this has never happened before what is going on inside of me right now yeah and the trust is gone
Starting point is 00:32:10 like honestly he's I tried to like make up for it with a couple of little trees like a meat stick is not going to make up for what just took place buddy you were there I'm imagining an old mercury yeah okay yeah it's right one of those ones
Starting point is 00:32:25 and I was thinking little well maybe because we've been putting them in our mouths the whole time. Maybe we're doing it wrong. Did you wash today? Put it back in the bathroom cabinet. Then I tested my temperature afterwards. Everything was all good. Fine and dandy. Was his temperature all good? Yeah, no, it was fine. Yeah, no, it was absolutely fine. Why did you have to do that? He's not. He's not so, well, because I could,
Starting point is 00:32:49 the bit was like really busy, so if you can get the temp and then we can find out of it. I honestly didn't even know that dogs. Yeah, did go to temperature. I mean, I guess they would. Yeah. I've never heard of that before. If you can't put your hands. to there. Unless the vet was playing a really cool trick on both of us. But yeah, it's a bit of work to regain the trust on that relationship. Even this morning, I was like,
Starting point is 00:33:08 kiddo, mate, and he's still like, I have not forgotten. It's like when your kid doesn't want to take Pamol. What do you do? You have to get a suppository. Do you? Well, yeah, yeah. Again, the look of betrayal.
Starting point is 00:33:22 He's like, no, it was Iyer. Excuse me. It's a monstrous answer. It is amazing. John O'Ben and Megan, the podcast. The hits. You have AI.
Starting point is 00:33:35 What's got on? Well, it's coming between mine and my husband's relationship. I generally use AI for like research and, I don't know, stuff like that. Generally, I say some stuff. Megan facts, facts, facts, facts, facts it on AI and then corrects me in the middle of the radio voice break. That's been a good tool for that. Yeah, and I like to deep dive in things we talk about afterwards. and then these guys with facts that I don't really care about.
Starting point is 00:33:59 That's how I use AI. But on Friday, I had a moment where I felt like the universe was giving me all the signs to stop doing something. Oh, yep, you were saying, I should just, yeah, give up on the idea. Yeah, I know. Just so many obstacles. And then I got one more kick in the guts, and I was like, oh, I can't. I think the universe is saying, babes, stop it.
Starting point is 00:34:20 So I put it into, I literally put that into chat, GPT. I was like, if you're getting all these signs, is it the universe saying, bloody stop it. And do you know what? It hit me back with the most beautiful, beautiful sentiments. It did some wonderful affirmations. It was like if all the obstacles disappeared tomorrow,
Starting point is 00:34:36 would I still desperately want this? If the answer is yes. So it's not an obstacle. It's your reason to continue. And then it said if you shouldn't make permanent decisions from a temporary feeling of defeat. And it says sometimes these obstacles are telling you not that you need to give up,
Starting point is 00:34:54 but you need to change how you're doing things. ultimate therapist. And I was like, oh my God, that's so insightful. No human would ever put that into words as eloquently. Well, that's where my husband, I went home and I was like, oh my God, GBT really jazzed me up today. I really needed like a boost in confidence. And he's like, I'm pretty sure I've said all those things to you. And I was like, yeah, but you're biased.
Starting point is 00:35:18 You can, like, how do I know if you're telling the truth? And he's like, you're talking about a robot. What do you mean? You're listening to a robot more than you listen to. your own husband. That robot is telling you what you want to hear. It's not even a real person. He raises a good point.
Starting point is 00:35:32 He was like, maybe you should just listen to me, your husband. And I was like, no, no, I want an impartial robot. I like, I didn't have to tell me that. He maintains it absolutely does. Yeah, no, it does. You basically said, make me feel better. Yeah. Yeah, 100% did.
Starting point is 00:35:50 And it did. Great for couples to have new things to argue about as well in 2020. It's starting to run out of arguments. I was almost like, are you cheating on me with AI? It does make me feel pretty good.
