Celebrity Treasure Island back tonight on TVNZ2.
Huge range of cast, you know, for everyone from Jazz Thornton to Tama Iti.
Looks good.
Two celebrities.
Hello, I'm here.
It's like hitting a stage.
Like either this is so hard or we are so stupid.
Yes, back tonight and former Warriors
legend Steve
Price is with us in the studio.
How you going boys? God, alright, nice to see
you. It's been a while but good to see you again.
Has been a while and
you guys have been busy. You said the last
time you saw Ben you were putting cockroaches down
his underpants. Well, he was there.
Was this on camera or off camera?
He was there but I was like, oh, jeez.
I mean, Steve Price, you're better than that.
So thank you so much for helping out back in the day, you know,
struggling my way through many a silly TV sketch.
Well, Steve and I actually have a surprise for Ben this morning.
We have a jar of cockroaches to relive that magical moment.
Anyway, I can explain the backstory, but it's probably not worth it.
I used to love your show.
Oh, thank you.
It's nice to see you on TV as well, too.
Celebrity Treasure Island, it's out tonight, TVNZ2.
Of course, you were in New Zealand for many years with the Warriors.
The Warriors dear to your heart.
You must be so stoked with how the team's gone this year.
It's been such a great year.
Yeah, really good, mate.
The support back in New Zealand's been huge.
They're getting sellout credits nearly every week.
To be able to get fourth in the nrl
you must be very consistent and that's probably been a tag that the warriors haven't always been
aligned with yeah yeah so the coach has done great the players are doing really well because you
would have played uh some pretty intense finals football over your time origin as well yeah the
kangaroos yeah what advice would you give the players be excited not nervous okay
you can burn a lot of energy sort of worrying about stuff that you can't really control so
be really confident a fine line between confidence and arrogance but having that swagger that you are
confident because it's a big mental game as well as physical um i think 2008 when uh i was at the
club we had our last home semi-final and it was one of the most memorable moments I had at the Warriors.
And it was fantastic what was going on in the country, just like now.
Yeah.
Was that your favourite moment when you look back at your time at the Warriors?
It was a huge moment, mate.
Huge moment.
Yeah, what we achieved that year is still spoken about now, which is great.
So yeah, hopefully these guys can do better than that.
Yeah.
But you lived
in new zealand for many years playing for the warriors and also had a four square as well up
north as well what do you miss most about new zealand now that you're back in australia yeah
to me it's the people mate you know everyone's so sort of down to earth and very open and and
welcoming certainly were to us uh me and my wife and our three kids with our 13 years we lived here. And you miss being here because of how welcome you feel.
So pretty cool flying in.
I bet it was.
And Waipu running the four square, you must have been really punished.
You're like, I'm trying to run a bloody shop here.
People are coming in for selfies, I imagine, Steve.
The warriors and all sorts.
No, it was good, mate.
And that's another thing about New Zealand is people, they don't get caught up in all that stuff.
Because I was reading something the weekend that you enjoyed doing all the, doing the
wages, selling the shelves, you liked all that stuff.
Yeah, loved it. 100%. And then, but I love the interaction with the customers. I loved
the, you know, with the sales reps trying to get the best deals so then you can pass
that on to the customers.
Yeah. Oh, so you'd barter down like you got the toilet paper sales person comes
in oh really yeah man now you mentioned your family before one uh when your kids uh you
do a place for the uh the australian netball team yeah we'll we'll champ as well which is
pretty awesome no it is awesome and another thing like they a lot of their growth was done here yeah
right in new zealand so obviously netball is a big sport. The girls went to Mount Albert Grammar,
which in their time was a very good netball school.
So had some great coaches there and they developed them.
And yeah, JMO's reaping the rewards,
but in a gold dress, green and gold dress.
But yeah, she's loving what she's doing, mate.
Do you get involved with her with a sporting background?
I mean, how much are you saying to her?
How much advice are you passing on
oh yeah
both my wife
and my daughter
sort of look at me
when I do say something
nah you gotta
understand your place
there's nothing more
frustrating though
than being a parent
on the sideline
imagine that's amplified
on a national scale
Steve Price
on Celebrity
Treasure Island
what are we looking
forward to this season
mate
strap yourself in.
She's on.
Yeah.
Are there big barnies?
Because people will get tired, hungry.
Yeah.
Yeah, rice and beans can get a bit plain
if you don't win a couple of challenges.
It's all legit.
You're not going off from camp.
No.
Yeah.
No cell phones?
No, no cell phones.
Because they check your bags and everything for contraband. Yeah, absolutely. Yeah. No cell phones? No. No cell phones. Because they check
your bags and
everything for
contraband?
Absolutely.
Yeah.
Bags and body.
There's obviously
been some people
that have been
really crafty over
time.
Really?
And they're like,
where?
Take them into a
room and search.
Oh really?
Someone's like,
I've got my
iPhone in hell.
Don't ask.
C. Price,
lovely seeing you again mate
thanks for coming
good on you for getting out there
and putting yourself out there
and doing Celebrity Treasure Island
and now that this interview's finished
Joel our producer
is probably going to punish you
for a bunch of photos
he's got his Warriors top on
he was having to take deep breaths
as you were walking in
to compose himself
I think I wore that jersey
lovely to see you Steve
great to see you boys too
