Hey, that's us.
Brought to you by HelloFresh, the experts and tastes that Kiwis love.
Kenny, Mike and Jason from Oof Ta Ta Ta with us in the studio.
Thanks for hanging out.
This is the coolest we're ever going to look.
So thank you so much for being here.
You look great, bro.
I was fishing for a compliment.
So thank you very much.
Oh, thank you.
Megan actually got them done for me last week.
And you can't take them off.
For three weeks. Three weeks. Yeah. So I was like, oh, I didn't realize that. So No. They're there for three weeks.
Three weeks.
Yeah, so I was like, oh, I didn't realize that.
So here I am right now with pink nails.
But anyway.
Can I just say it feels way too early for rock stars to be up and at them.
You've got to get the rock out early, brother.
You've got to get the rock out early.
So, you know, we're up at all hours of the night, all hours of the day.
He's got three.
He's got two.
I've got two.
Oh, so the kid's getting you up?
I'm working.
Yeah, we're always up early.
Well, it's great to have you here and about to tour New Zealand.
Your first international tour outside of the States, around New Zealand.
You've got some great places.
Corogland, Christchurch, Rotorua as well.
Now, you guys have all spent a bit of time in New Zealand.
What places are you excited to go to and what are some of your favourites you've seen so far?
Hopefully we'll be able to go down to Queenstown too.
I want to take them down to the South Island, but it's exciting haven't been to wellington in years so i'm like you know going to
wellington christ i mean they're you're playing tour guide for this guy yeah but corgland i'm
telling them i'm like dude it's such a little oasis especially over labor day weekend it's
going to be well it's like you love new zealand and you guys have spent some time here um i'm
worried though because we we love you here but i'm worried you're going to find out somewhere
cool like australia is better or something i came here i came here when i was 20. i used to live in
australia but i'm like no this is this i want to be here the rest of my life to be honest
our entire film industry relies on you staying here at the moment yeah now we don't get kind
of bummed because the next year i have to be in europe and i'm like i couldn't bring any of those
here so i apologize but i'll be back, thank you for all the work you have.
I mean, you're keeping so many people employed.
Now, you guys, you're fresh here from America.
Now, when have you been stuck in the hurricane?
I said, Mike, you've been in a hurricane?
The eye of the storm went directly over my house.
It didn't affect him at all.
Everyone around him got nailed.
He went right through the eye of the storm.
So you're in Florida when that happened.
The eye of the hurricane went directly over my house. So is it true what they say, that the eye of the storm. So you were in Florida when that happened? Right over the eye of the hurricane.
Went directly over my house.
So is it true what they say, that the eye is really calm?
Yeah, it's calm.
I mean, there was dead silence.
We had about a storm for about 30 minutes, and then it was dead silence.
And what happened to the houses around you?
Gone?
No, not gone, but some heavy damages, a lot of power loss.
No really loss of life or anything like that god bless but uh
you know we were lucky is it an annual it feels like an annual event oh yeah oh yeah i got hit by one i live in louisiana i got hit by one in 2020 it wiped out it looked like it wiped out
the whole town like somebody dropped a nuke yes wild what do you have you got little bunkers you
go in under the house you just get the heck out of town man comes in oh get away yeah uh because kenny you
love your vintage clothing i've been uh on your internet what are you finding in new zealand you're
finding anything vintage you got an old all black stop or anything like that well i usually go to
search and destroy you get a lot of good vintage stuff and where he's filming right now what was
this what's the street oh we were just at k road what's the what's the arcade oh there's like
yeah so we were there
and we were just we were shopping in between takes yesterday it was amazing were you filming
up there yeah that's what's cool about wrecking crew it's not like well chief of war was like
you know all these really beautiful remote spots but now you know we're gonna be in the city so
it's kind of cool to be around town now um ben was saying that you guys actually you rehearse
the band rehearses in between takes on the movie set.
Yeah.
Do you have to, like, how many minutes do you get to rehearse at a time?
Sometimes like 15-minute setups, 30-minute setups.
It's quite a bit done.
Yeah.
It's more me rehearsing.
They're the ones that need, they're good.
I'm the one that needs to.
Well, no, apparently, well, I've heard you say before, Mike,
because you taught Jason to play guitar originally,
but you've said many times he's a great musician.
Absolutely.
Yeah, he is a musician a fish to water yeah and what
did you cost what you charge him back in the day for a guitar lessons I don't
just beer yeah we should start charging money I didn't even really think about
that it was about hanging out and just having a good time. Oh, it's so good.
You guys have brought your friendship.
You've got the band.
You get to travel the world.
You get to travel around New Zealand.
Oof-da-da.
Seems like a great time out.
You play a lot of covers and original music as well.
We're talking, what, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Metallica, Rolling Stones.
Yep.
Ready to go.
Rage Machine.
Taylor Swift.
Taylor Swift.
Led Zeppelin Black Sabbath
it's just basically
all our favourite music
would you rockify
some pop music
like some
Taylor Swift
or
don't think about that
I'll have a band meeting
afterwards
if they can do this
anything is possible
anything is possible
no idea is a bad idea
to brainstorm
because I've seen Rita Ora jump on stage with you guys before Jack Black Silence is all I needed. Anything is possible. No idea is a bad idea in a brainstorm.
Because I've seen Rita Ora jump on stage with you guys before.
Jack Black and all sorts.
It was awesome.
Yeah.
Rita's awesome.
My kids came on.
My son's going to come down, so he'll probably jump up, hopefully, when we play a couple other shows.
Does your family visit quite often here?
They try to.
They're not in school.
Yeah.
Yeah, great.
They love it here.
Both of them, so I'm super pumped about that.
You love your rugby, of course.
Have you introduced? Because, Kenny, I've seen on your Instagram you some super pumped about that. You love your rugby Of course, have you introduced us Kenny? I've seen on your Instagram. You love football American football
You know basketball like have this Jason introduced you to rugby here. Remember they landed. Oh, really? We wouldn't watch the player Argentina
Mind blown it's it's unbelievable. Those boys are there's something else. They gotta meet the team
It's pretty cool. I'm a fan now. I'm a fan now.
Say what's up to Scott Robertson
and all that.
Oh, you know, yeah.
That's cool because obviously,
Jason, you love the old school.
Tana Umunga is like one of your idols.
Yeah, man.
Yeah, he is my idol.
Yeah, he's the best.
I had a moment at your premiere,
actually,
because I've met him before.
He's a lovely guy
and he smiled and waved at me
and he came walking over.
I was like,
this is going to be the greatest moment ever.
I was like, hey, Tana,
how are you doing?
He's going to have a chat.
His wife was behind me. but then he felt obligated
because he's such a lovely guy to have a chat to me and then I realized oh he didn't come
to see me I was like oh my god Tana loves me really pleasant hey we don't get rock stars
in the studio that often and there's a trend going around to get people to sign old photos
themselves so Kenny here's the first one for you. You need to describe it right now.
Kenny's got hair like mine at the moment. Peroxide, was this 90s or what was this?
I stuck my head in bleach, man.
It feels like a sort of an offspring kind of era there.
It was 98.
Okay, well, Mike, you're a harder person to track down old photos of you. Now, this is
all we can find. Let's look us up. Maybe one of the first times you met Jason, I'm guessing.
We were together for a long time.
That was only about 10 years ago.
I remember that.
You had quite good hair there.
Now you're rocking a lot shorter haircut as well.
Jason's pulling the fingers in the photo.
Rock and roll.
And Jason, we're going to go with this one for you, mate.
Oh, look at this cool one right here.
Mate, we didn't see him.
We can take that one if you want that one few photos of me out there like that on the internet too I'd like to burn.
This isn't actually me, I drank all those memories away.
We need to spring clean the internet.
Now, Ufdata, about to go on tour, all the details you can get at the hits.co.nz.
Well, it's awesome to have you guys here.
Thank you so much for hanging out as well.
It's awesome.
Go see Ufdata around New Zealand.
It's going to be incredible.
All the details at the hits.co.nz.
Thanks, guys.
Thanks, man.
Appreciate it.
