Starting point is 00:00:00 The Jono, Ben and Megan podcast, thanks to Dilma. Goodness really does taste great. Dilma, making the world a better tea. Listen to this today, a brand new Bridget Jones movie, Mad About the Boy, the fourth movie in the franchise. It is awesome. Bridget Jones, she's a widowed four years ago with kids and she's looking for love.
Starting point is 00:00:17 Bridget Jones, it's time to live. Uncle Daniel. Miniature Darcy, what's the news? Where are the ladies with the big... Hair? Well, they couldn't make it, I'm afraid. They're washing their hair. All three? They wash each other's, you see. We got to see
Starting point is 00:00:36 the movie. It's really awesome. It is very cool. And Renee Zellweger is back again. She's got two new stars in the movie as well. Leo Woodle. Who is from One Day and The White Lotus, the very handsome Leo Woodle. You're a big fan of his as well. As a Chiwetel Ejiofor as well, who's an accomplished actor, been in Love Actually, 12 Years as a Slave as well.
Starting point is 00:00:55 He's awesome. And we had an interview organized with them. But, Megan, we didn't tell you. We went to see the movie, and I just thought we were going to like – We gave away the cruise trip. A preview, yeah. And Ben was like, hey, Megan, put this cat blindfold on, as he does most days, and you're happily obliged.
Starting point is 00:01:14 And we had headphones on you. I was hoping, I thought maybe it could have been Renee, but I definitely wasn't expecting Leo Woodall to be in front of me. They were all there. The stars of Bridget Jones. Have a listen when we reveal Megan. Who are interviewing with Megan? Up to you.
Starting point is 00:01:29 I do have a feeling she might be disappointed. Yeah. If you don't, yeah. Yeah. Should we do it, Renee? It feels slightly kidnappy at the moment, doesn't it? Megan, have a look who's there. Hi, Megan.
Starting point is 00:01:41 Hi. Surprise. Okay, I'm wearing a cat mask now. It was a cute cat mask. It was a memorable entrance. What do you want to say? All those questions that you're prepared or not really prepared, but what do you want to say?
Starting point is 00:01:58 Okay, Renee, I'm a massive fan. Is this really the end? Are we saying goodbye to Bridget? Oh, well, that's the rumor. I have my fingers crossed. I'm hopeful. We'll see. I want to see you.
Starting point is 00:02:13 I've got teenage girls. I want to see you do the teenage years, you know, when they're around saying skibbity and riz and all those things that teenagers say. I want to see Bridget Jones through those years. Okay. It was just one pitch. It was just one pitch that was just one pitch uh well maybe you could come to new zealand uh because chiuatel i know you've been
Starting point is 00:02:30 to new zealand before you filmed uh the south island i'm sorry we had to send you there but you escaped how was it it was amazing i loved it i loved the experience in new zealand really beautiful place i just was so stunned by the by stunned by the landscape and the people and the warmth. It was really fabulous. Hugh, did we spoon-feed marmite into your mouth? Did you try marmite? I actually didn't try the marmite. Oh, good, good.
Starting point is 00:02:56 You dodged a bullet. Usually we're spoon-feeding the stuff into people's mouths, and it's not how it's meant to be digested. That's how I wanted to know, because I watch you every year at Christmastime in Love Actually, people's mouths and it's not how it's meant to be digested. I wanted to know, because you're, I watch you every year at Christmas time and love actually, and I will never not want justice for you when you're white. But do you ever watch that movie?
Starting point is 00:03:15 Do any of you actually watch your performances? Is that weird? I don't, I mean, I don't tend to go back to performances from before that much, do you? Oh, all the time. I invite everybody over and I'm like, you guys. Oh, here's me when I did. Wait, wait, you guys watch me in this. Stop talking. This is my best scene. Leo, would you prefer a fleeing holiday romance in The White Lotus or a long-term relationship with bridget jones uh i don't know what i mean bridget jones should i feel like she deserves a trip to a white
Starting point is 00:03:55 lotus that's a good answer now i i've got one little uh bugbear about the movie i'm a big fan of the sport cricket and i know a couple you guys played out there was a little couple of hints at it in the movie and there was a little outside scene but could we have seen more cricket in this movie well i mean did you not see my catch that was good it was a good chance i wanted more i wanted more from that well well there wasn't any because that was the only one I saw. That was his only bugbear walking out of the movie theatre. They kept talking about cricket, but I didn't see enough cricket. Yeah, I wished for more cricket.
Starting point is 00:04:32 Thank you. Thank you, Leo. Thank you. I particularly like the age gap relationship because me and my husband, there's 10 years, he's my junior. So I was like, yes, my life, I'm living for this. And a lot of movies at the moment i feel like they're embracing you know the older woman situation bridget wasn't ashamed of the relationship
Starting point is 00:04:50 oh well um yeah yeah i find your happiness where you can you know good for you that's why she was upset yeah i was gonna, it doesn't seem she needs reassurance. She looks to me like she's doing just fine. Bridget Jones often has the embarrassing underwear, you know, storylines of the movies. Now, I brought in a pair that my wife wants me to throw out. They're Batman underpants for a grown man. Now, what are your thoughts? Do I throw them out after this interview or not?
Starting point is 00:05:21 Do I keep them? Venom. You know. I think they've got to go. Yeah. I mean, how comfortable are they? I mean, if they're under the trousers, what harm? They are under the trousers, right? There's a hole there's a hole! There's a hole! Oh, that's an unfortunate hole right there. He's taken them all away now.
Starting point is 00:05:48 We've got to go. Much like my underwear, we've got to go. But thank you so much for your time. We love the movie. I know New Zealanders are going to love seeing it. It's been so nice to catch up with you guys. Great to see you guys.
