Starting point is 00:00:00 The Hits, with the Jono and Ben podcast. Cheers to Dilma, making the world a better tea. Megan Pappas. Hello. It's great to see you. And you come in here and you tell us what to watch. Even though you're not the boss of these people, you tell them what to watch. You're a new version of the TV guide for us.
Starting point is 00:00:20 Okay, thanks. The thing I pick up when I'm at the supermarket I'll flick through Do they still exist? Yeah they still exist Are they still going? Yeah Yeah Patty Gow was on the front
Starting point is 00:00:30 Of one the other day I saw her at the supermarket Yeah Wow Gosh she gets around It's amazing to know That people are still Buying the TV guy
Starting point is 00:00:36 Doesn't it? I remember we actually Were on it once To be donning The Christmas cover Of the TV guy That's right With Hilary Berry
Starting point is 00:00:43 I don't know why Hilary Berry got roped into it but we had a dog with reindeer antlers on it and we were dressed as elves It was holocausty stuff With a special Christmas cover You don't say no to the TV guy, that's for sure
Starting point is 00:00:57 I'm very honoured to be in there I was telling the kids about that the other day I was like, whatever the movie was that week you'd build your weekend around, oh we're going to watch the Sunday night movie. They're like, oh, whatever, cool story old man.
Starting point is 00:01:08 Do you remember, did you have teletext? Yeah. And you could put like, captions on, on teletext? Yeah, I know.
Starting point is 00:01:15 What was it like, kind of like Stuffed, or was it kind of like the New Zealand Herald, or Stuffed, or KDONZ? it was kind of before its time, on the TV,
Starting point is 00:01:21 but yeah. Didn't you used to be able to play games on teletext? Well, I don't know in our version, but maybe in a later version. Did you have an be able to play games on teletext? I don't know in our version, but maybe in a later version. Did you upgrade your teletext? Oh, damn. All right.
Starting point is 00:01:31 Well, what are we watching this week, TV Guide? This is a movie this week. It's called Plane. Captain Torrance, flight commander. How can I help you? Fugitive extradition. Oh, is he dangerous? What did he do? Homicide 15 years ago. I don't want to scare the rest of the passengers. So this stars, what's his face? Gerard Butler.
Starting point is 00:02:02 Scottish, you know. No offense to Gerard Butler there. What's his face? Gerard Butler. Scottish, you know. No offence to Gerard Butler there. What's his face? So this is a plane crash. It sounds very stereotypical, but it's a little bit different. So he's the pilot. They get struck by lightning. It's not a spoiler.
Starting point is 00:02:16 The plane goes down. And that is just the start of the issues. So they actually survive this crash landing, but they land in like this war-torn place that's run by militia so they're happy to what's his face this sounds like trouble well when gerard butler's your pilot and then also on the plane um you know when they're doing criminal transfers there's this like big strong um guy who was convicted on homicide or was he we don't know he's probably innocent probably i mean it's points to him being innocent uh he is also on the plane
Starting point is 00:02:52 and the plane goes down um gerard's like okay well do i take him out of handcuffs or not he could help me he could also murder us all um so yeah the problems start when the plane survives the crash landing but it's good it's good, it's really good He's a good action actor, isn't he, Gerard Butler? Yeah So I'm guessing there's some action involved? Just a little bit of action Or does he comfortably land a plane?
Starting point is 00:03:13 Although, there's a fight scene And how old is he? Because the fight scene, to me, was a little bit laboured Oh, really? Old what's-her-face butler Because I was like, oh, he must be getting on 53 Old Jackie Chan over here Oh, really? Old what's-her-face butler because I was like, oh, he must be getting on. 53.
Starting point is 00:03:28 Old Jackie Chan over here. My scene was a bit lame. Come on, mate, pick it up a bit. Also, I just Googled his age and the picture that comes up is him topless on the balcony with a ciggy. Oh, there he is. Got his guts out. That's the type of guy I want to be like. That's the real life action hero, you know?
Starting point is 00:03:48 So it was a... He has a wee break in the middle of an action scene. It was a slow, laboured fight scene. This is why AI's going to come and take old bloody Watts Space's job. AI's not on a balcony having a ciggy, is he? So where can we watch Plane? This is on Amazon Prime.
Starting point is 00:04:05 What's the most frightening experience you've had on a plane? Probably just turbulence. A friend of ours was sitting next to a poor gentleman. Oh, don't tell me. Yeah. Okay, well, no, you have to tell me. No, you fill in the blanks and then they put a blanket. The plane was full.
Starting point is 00:04:20 Yeah. So they can't just lug a body. Someone died. Yeah, and then they had to tastefully put a blanket over him She sat next to him The blanket doesn't help Because you know what's under the blanket My thing and Ben's always like that's hugely disrespectful
Starting point is 00:04:34 I would be like The blanket No did he get the works meal Because I'd be like well if I'm just travelling on You've got a spare meal floating there It's not the time It's not the time But it's not the first thing I'd say It'd be a couple of hours into the trip Well, if I'm just travelling on, you've got a spare meal floating there. It's not the time. It's not the time.
Starting point is 00:04:48 But it's not the first thing I'd say. It'd be a couple of hours into the trip. I'm like, what was he on? Anyway, we've got quite a plane. You can watch it now on Amazon Prime.
