Starting point is 00:00:00 What to Watch with Megan. Hello Megan. G'day. Lovely to have you in here. Now you're joining us next year on the show, which is awesome. I don't think we've officially spoken about this on air. No, I don't think we have. Trying to hide the dirty little secret?
Starting point is 00:00:13 No, no. No, we haven't. Why haven't we done that? No. I was just thinking that as you came in. I was like, well, we've talked about it many times around the office and stuff, but we haven't officially. That was very sloppy admin on our part.
Starting point is 00:00:26 So apologies for this lacklustre announcement. It's been announced it's out there in the world right? It's very exciting next year you're going to be joining us. Yeah I'm really excited. You know Taylor producer Taylor's big issue with when they announce new breakfast hosts or breakfast hosts leaving
Starting point is 00:00:41 a show when there's articles or the press release goes out, it always says, Megan's going to be setting her alarm clock earlier. Oh, yeah. Or when you leave, Megan's going to be enjoying her sleep in. Yeah, I mean, I'm not looking forward to that part,
Starting point is 00:00:56 but you know, I'm looking forward to missing traffic. Yeah. Oh, traffic is horrendous. You really don't know. With these hours, one of the blessings is you really, you don't feel the pinch of the traffic, do you? When you have to go out into traffic, you're like, what is this?
Starting point is 00:01:10 You don't factor it in. People get stuck in traffic, so they have to listen to you. The longer these councils can screw up public transport, the better for radio, really. Yeah, you're right. They're keeping radio alive. What are we watching this week, Megan? This is one that producer Taylor and I were just talking about.
Starting point is 00:01:27 It is juicy. It's on Netflix. It's called Escaping Twin Flames. He took my child. He twisted her memories, her mind. This is a documentary. It's kind of considered a cult. So it's the twin flame universe where these people
Starting point is 00:01:45 believe that they have one twin flame. So I guess it's kind of like a soulmate. But these two people started this cult. And it is wild. They managed to get a whole bunch of people to sign up, pay money for these courses. They make them believe that they can tell who their twin flame is. When they start running out of members, they start saying, well, your twin flame, your soulmate is within the group. So they ended up messing with these people's lives. And you know the juicy bit? This is kind of a spoiler, but they're still going.
Starting point is 00:02:19 And there are two people that run it worth $5 million. That's how much the cult pulls in? Yeah, I mean, that's pretty good money for a cult, isn't it? I don't know, what is your average cult pulling in nowadays? What's your admin cost in a cult? Normally the same outfits and stuff like that. So everyone was kind of like a lot of cults all living together and stuff like that?
Starting point is 00:02:38 In the end, they were, yeah. So this is run by Jeff and Shalia. I don't think it's their real names. They came up with those names for themselves. They came up with those names themselves. They came up with Jeff? Like, if you're going to come up with a name. Jeff is wild. A lot of people think you won't fall victim to that,
Starting point is 00:02:52 but it is. I mean, imagine people at stages of their life or things like that. It's probably easy to believe a lot of, or you want to believe a lot of these things that people are saying. And these people just are looking for love. And it's the kind of thing where you get into it
Starting point is 00:03:05 and once they're talking about it, once they're out of the cult, they're like, it was so gradual. Now that I talk about it, it seems wild, but it's so gradual. By the end of it, they just do everything they're told. It makes sense to you. Like when you go on Celebrity Treasure Island
Starting point is 00:03:21 and you're like, why are these people crying over a cup of coconut juice or something? That's the world you're in. Not that you weren't in a cult as such, but you did grow up in a nudist colony. Yeah, I did. How did you find that? Was that gradual, like for your parents as well?
Starting point is 00:03:38 Was that one sock? Take the hat off today. And before you know it, you're like, whoa. What's this? The glove is gone Sorry There's no money changing hands No I mean it was just
Starting point is 00:03:50 A group of like minded people Who just like to not wear any clothes Yeah I get it Yeah When you obviously met People who didn't grow up In a nudist colony Yeah
Starting point is 00:03:59 Did Were they like Oh okay And then for you You're like Well this is just my life Yeah do you know The strangest thing was When I was going to school,
Starting point is 00:04:06 like talking about how even to this day I still see my parents naked. And I don't think that's weird, but people think it is. When was the last time you saw your parents naked? Wednesday. Nanny sends me some pics. Well, Wednesday picked me up. See, now I realise it's weird No I mean
Starting point is 00:04:27 It's not weird But like I would still shower Now And my parents would come in And like brush their teeth Or whatever in the bathroom And it's not a That's fine
Starting point is 00:04:35 You know I had a judge mate Jeez You've seen the stuff we've done But no that's my So my point being that If you are in a community of people Whether it be a cult Or a nudist colony
Starting point is 00:04:45 Feels normal Yeah exactly Until other people tell you it's not
