Starting point is 00:00:00 Give a little time for the child within you. Don't be afraid to be young and free. Unto the locks and throw away the keys and take off your shoes and sex and run you. It's Jordan Jesse Go. I am Jesse Thorne America's Radio Sweetheart. Jordan Morris Boy, Detective. I was Jordan. Is that you, Jordan?
Starting point is 00:00:21 Jordan, are you? Is it me, baby. Okay. I was. The one and only. I was at the Boston's Logan Airport. This is the only Wolverine airport in America. Fun, good.
Starting point is 00:00:35 That's a dark reimagining of the airport. Right. Imagining an airport that's confronting mortality and dealing with brutal violence. Right. Brutal, hideous violence. And then the airport comes back and has a couple of laughs with that pool. Yeah, exactly. I was at the Boston Logan Airport, and I want you to picture this scene.
Starting point is 00:00:54 This is the most brief anecdote. It's so little. content of this anecdote. But I'm sitting in an airport chair, you know, a lounge chair, like a, not in the lounge, but in the standard waiting area. And there's a little bit of room in front of me. I usually like to take a seat that faces the window. I'm sitting there, and there's a man approaching me from my left, you know, crossing in front of me. And he's pulling a roller bag. And he's moving slowly. This may be a 65-year-old man. He's not like, a frail man, but just, you know, taking his time.
Starting point is 00:01:33 Getting up there. And I'm a little spread out, you know, as one does at the airport. I'm feeling my, you know. And as he's pulling is... You're kind of old school. You still like to man spread, right? Yeah, it's my right. Keep those gals in their place.
Starting point is 00:01:51 It's my right. Yeah. I was born this way. Sorry if I got big swinging balls. Are your balls supposed to be swinging in addition to big? Yeah, I think so. They're supposed to be swollen, right? Sure, yeah, and that's why you have to man-spread,
Starting point is 00:02:08 because you don't want them to clack against your thighs. They're red and irritated. That's desirable, correct? Yeah. Anyway, I'm sitting. See a doctor. Jesse, see a doctor. Oh, my God.
Starting point is 00:02:21 Stop the recording now. I'm sitting in the chair. I'm just a little spread out. It's important to the story. I'm a little... Ball's on fire. I'm a little spread out. I'm burning up.
Starting point is 00:02:32 Yeah. This guy's pulling a trolley, you know, a trolley luggage behind him. And he passes me. And then as he passes, his wheel rolls over my left toe. And look, this happens. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:02:47 It wasn't malicious. He wasn't looking. He was looking ahead. He turns back. He goes, oh, sorry. No problem. He turns back forward. keeps walking, pulls it over my other toe.
Starting point is 00:03:00 Nice. Does he apologize for that one? Nope. No. Nope. By then, he's all saried out. Yeah. He's, yeah.
Starting point is 00:03:07 That's just a blanket sorry to cover whatever shit he does to you between now and when you get in your lift. There's a halo of sorry that goes around the sorry. So he can, he can womp you putting something into the overhead compartment. If you're sitting next to him, he can fall asleep on your shoulder. Yep. You can just do whatever to you He's apologized once Yeah, I think that's about how it works
Starting point is 00:03:31 Is that correct? Yes Anyway, it's just an experience I had a pretty Ran over one toe Turned around, said sorry Turned back, started walking again, ran over my other toe
Starting point is 00:03:40 And Jesse, I'm sorry to be this guy You gotta wear shoes at the airport though That's maybe And I know there's those people Remember when men wore suits on planes I'm not one of those guys Okay, I'm not one of those like Oh, you're getting with your sweat
Starting point is 00:03:55 pants and I'm not one of those guys, but I do think you should wear shoes. Is it worth mentioning that I'm the comic book character Beast? Right, because that's why you were at that Logan themed airport. Yeah. Because you are, okay, well, then I think it's fine to be barefoot. And then I, yeah, sometimes you got to jump up and hang upside down from something using your special toes. You got to.
Starting point is 00:04:17 It's really funny when you're doing a little math problem like that. Yeah, we're holding on to something with my super toes. Should we introduce a guest? I would love to. Because he's a real-life superhero. That's right. A lot of people don't know that he's a real-life superhero. He is a stand-of-comic, writer, and a brilliant actor from the television program, The Peacemaker.
Starting point is 00:04:40 His name is Stephen Aegee. Hello, Steve. Hi, guys. Hi, Steve. What's it like to be a real-life superhero, Steve? You have the power, your character on the show, on the show, Peacemaker? has the power of helping. Well, we all possess that power.
Starting point is 00:04:58 So, in a lot of ways, aren't we all superheroes? Yes. Most of all, say it with me, single malt. Single malt scotch, yes. Single mothers, okay, yeah. Single malt scotch. Single malt mothers. Oh, love a single malt mom.
Starting point is 00:05:17 I love a Pedy mother. Right, yes, exactly. She's from Tennessee. It's a, I don't know. Steve, you're... I age my mother in an oak cask. Right, yes, yes. So why she's so smoky.
Starting point is 00:05:35 Steve, you fly, you travel around. Do you have stuff you like to do on planes and in airports to make the whole thing more manageable? No, usually the night before I download a bunch of movies to watch. Yeah. If I'm traveling really far away, I just went to Bulgaria and that was like... Bulgaria. 15 hours. And I have not done that in like 30 years.
Starting point is 00:05:57 Steve is doing some consulting work with the government of Bulgaria. Black Rock. Right. And what were you doing in Bulgaria? A movie. Okay. And so I like to... You're like, I host Bulgaria's funniest home videos.
Starting point is 00:06:13 I'll do... These are some pretty funny videos. Jordan, the movie is called Orge Bulkle. Uh-huh. Orge Boglevic. Yep. Oh, wow. Yeah, so I like that.
Starting point is 00:06:25 Actually, I'll watch Lord of the Rings the trilogy a lot because I know I know that'll get me through most flights. Right, because three hours each if you're watching the director's cuts, right? Yeah. So that does almost get you to Bulgaria. I started the, I was on a flight from Dublin to L.A. I started them a little bit late, but I landed in L.A. and there were still 20 minutes left on the last movie. Those are some long movies. Yeah, because I can't sleep on a plane, like, no matter how hard I try.
Starting point is 00:06:57 It's a terrible place to sleep. I had it for a while. At the height of my traveling a lot, I would just put my bag down, clack that seatbelt, and conk right out. Wow. And just wake up in Pittsburgh. Were you seeing it in a window seat? Wherever. I could do it.
Starting point is 00:07:14 I could do it sitting up in the middle. You were locking in your roommates upon. seating. Throughout the flight, they just had to use a catheter. Yes. Orpice all over me. That's true. I don't mind. I guess I didn't consider that you're a nasty piss baby. But yeah, so that was like, that was like in my 20s when I was traveling for work. And then I like stopped. Now I fly a little bit more now than I used to. But, you know, now I fly, you know, two or three times a year. And I cannot go to sleep. And I want it back. I want that skill back, but it's fucking gone.
Starting point is 00:07:56 It's tough. Yeah. I was on this flight that I took from Boston to Los Angeles. I sat down. I'm flying JetBlue, which, you know, have they degraded the JetBlue flying experience? Yes. However, is it still the only airplane I can just sit in coach and, you know, it'll be fine? It'll be fine.
Starting point is 00:08:20 You know, it's not going to be great, but it'll be fine. I had a nice, this is fine coach experience on Air Canada recently. Oh, I like this is like a little bit bigger than Southwest. And I have like a little more room and it makes all the fucking difference. Yeah, it's a real. They're really, you know, guys. Guys. I hate to say things.
Starting point is 00:08:42 I hate to say things on the show that are controversial. But here we go. I think these airlines are out to get us. I don't think they're providing value for a dollar. They fly us through the sky, Jesse. I'm sitting, I sit down in my seat and I got an aisle seat. I paid the extra money for seat selection. Isle.
Starting point is 00:09:02 Because I'm going to spill out. If I'm going to, there's nowhere to spill in the other seats. Yes, true. So I sit in the aisle. I'm also a very frequent urinator. I'm, I'm peeing the whole flight long. I'm up and down, back and forward. PPP, PPP, PPP, PPP, P, P, P, P, P, P, P, to the point where I'm sure people are worried that I'm preparing for a terrorist attack of some kind.
Starting point is 00:09:26 He's checking on the explosives. Or constantly joining the Mile High Club. Yeah, they're like, that huge hunk keeps going to the math, they say to themselves. They think of me as a hunk. I peed once on the whole trip to Bulgaria. Wow. Wow. Pretty good. Did you pee in Bulgaria?
Starting point is 00:09:43 No, the week that I was there, I did not pee. That's how you lock in for a performance. Yeah. I sat down in my aisle seat. I realize immediately there's two full-grown bros next to me in my... This is the last thing you want. Together? Were they friends?
Starting point is 00:10:01 Yeah. They were friends. They were bros. One of them immediately used the arsler. And then the guy in front of me who I'm going to say was roughly Steve Agee-sized. It's rare for me to be on an airplane in-coach with a guy that's definitely bigger than me. This guy was definitely bigger than me. He sat down, again, playing on the runway still.
Starting point is 00:10:26 It hasn't started rolling. Sat down, went, oh, and press the button on his armrest and slammed his thing back. Come on, man. We have not even started. My seat belt's not even on yet. This guy's already reclined, and I'm just like, I better start watching the great escape on my computer now because. I got a better start watching. What's that movie that we watched called Jordan for a TBW for to be watched?
Starting point is 00:10:55 War of the Gargantuanus. Oh, War of the Gargantuanes. Coming soon to the bonus feed. Just fire up War of the Gargantuanes and just get rolling. Just try and escape into a world of giant. Of gargantuanes. Steve, are you a member of like a loyalty program? Like, do you collect points and shit like that Delta?
Starting point is 00:11:15 That's like the one, right? Someone just sent me a screenshot, and I don't know if this is real, but it said, seniors can now fly business class for the price of economy. No way. And when it said seniors, it said in parentheses, 55 and over. Wow. Wow. Really?
Starting point is 00:11:37 Your boy is 57. A-A-R-P. Yeah. Arp. Arp. Orp. Orp to the host. That's what happens.
Starting point is 00:11:48 Two Gen Z bros sit down next to you. You just call out for your homies. Orp, orp. Old people come to help you deal with their bullshit. Sure. I experienced something on that long flight that I've never seen before. On this plane, which was a Polish airlines or something, once we took off. My dad made a lot of mean jokes about them.
Starting point is 00:12:11 I will not repeat here. They tinted the windows. It was a largely. daylight we were going up and over. So it was like sunlight most of the time. And I love to look out the window. And it was blacked out. Wow. Like they just flipped a switch. You didn't have a button. No. Oh, because I flew once, I think, on an airplane that had the windows, the tent, and you press a button. I have that. I've done that too. This one was like, you're all going to sit in darkness. We've deemed this a darkness flight. Yeah. We've decided. Did you get any. Did you get any
Starting point is 00:12:45 time to spend? Were you just working or did you get to like see Bulgaria? It was mostly just working. Okay. But I did go to London for a week afterwards. I hadn't been there since I was a teenager. London's fun. Awesome. Do you check out some of the birds they have there?
Starting point is 00:13:01 Do they have these buses that are two stories? Oh, you should see the deckers on these buses. Arp, orp! Arp! Oh, baby, let me get on the top decker. Upper Decker. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:13:19 Like a guy who's horny for buses. That's the character I'm doing. Yeah. And specifically for the big red buses. For the big red London buses. The big red London buses. I'm going to be on Saturday Night Live any day now. Yeah. I think that's right. Guy who's horny for the London double-decker bus. Love a double-decker. Oh, I love a double-decker. And you know what? Let's say you get hired, but then you get fired for using slurs. You'll be hosting soon enough. Oh, I'll be
Starting point is 00:13:43 hosting. also left my camera bag. Oh, no. Camera bag on the tube, the subway. Yeah. From the airport to Paddington Station. You probably have a nice, you're probably a man with a nice camera. Left my camera.
Starting point is 00:14:00 Shit. Steve Agee is a serious, this guy's a gifted photographer. Oh, what a lot. What, there was so much stuff in that bag. Got to the hotel, was getting out and was like, something seems wrong. Oh my God, of all the bags, the camera bag, and I immediately knew it's on the subway. Did it ever return? Went back.
Starting point is 00:14:23 Its fate is still unlearned. Went back and got the bag. Wow. For what? They have these guys called cleaners when the subway stops, because this was the end of a line. They go on and they walk the subway, and if someone leaves shit, they pick it up. Can I tell you what? I live, the subway station nearest to my house is a Heritage Square Station.
Starting point is 00:14:50 You guys, I'm sure know it well there on the A-line. And at Heritage Square Station is the official Los Angeles Metro lost and found building. Whoa, a whole building. It's a building. And you can't go in unless you lost something. And I have thought about, I've truly, sincerely thought about losing something just so I can go in and see what's going on in there. This is a heist. This is a heist movie.
Starting point is 00:15:22 Oh, I want to go in there so bad. Oh, it's just a little building. The heist is two guys. John lost and Johnny found. The movie's called Lost and Fawn. And they're both have the first name. I realize. Oh, one's John.
Starting point is 00:15:38 One's Johnny. One's Johnny. One's actually, I mean, Johnny, it's short for Jonathan. Right. John is just John. Yeah. It's technically different names. So, yeah, I'm good and my movie pitch is good.
Starting point is 00:15:48 Yeah, it's a good movie bitch. We're successful in the entertainment industry. Yes, yes. Everyone can agree on that fact. What kind of London shit did you get up to? I did a show with Rich Fulcher. Oh, cool. He's hilarious.
Starting point is 00:16:02 Who I hadn't seen since he moved to London. A lot of food, a lot of sites. I didn't been to London since I was 15. The London tourist shit is awesome. Like Big Ben, it's great. The parks, Hyde Park, everything. It was so much fun. And the weather was perfect.
Starting point is 00:16:20 The crown jewels. Those big red swinging jewels. Those itchy burning jewels. By the way, while you were telling that story, I looked over at your knuckles and it just says, ball. Guys into balls. I love that.
Starting point is 00:16:39 My favorite London destination is that Sir John Sohn Museum. You go to that? I did not. What's that one? It's a guy's house. Have I already done the entire rundown on Jordan Jesse Go of the Sir John Soon museum? We went together. This is definitely one of the five stories, but it is a fantastic museum, and you should go.
Starting point is 00:16:56 This man invented indirect outdoor lighting for homes. So like where there's a skylight into a shoot and the shoot makes the light into light windows. Like reflects it into other? Yeah, exactly. Okay. And then he also, he invented, he invented instead of architects having to go to the classical world to study classical architecture and then return, he invented the idea of going to the classical world, making a scale model and bringing it back. No one had thought of that. Amazing.
Starting point is 00:17:31 He revolutionized the teaching of architecture by coming up with that idea. and then also during a craze for Egyptiana, he bought a craze. He bought a mummy in a sarcophagus, and it didn't fit through his front door. So he took off the entire facade of his house so he could bring the mummy inside, knocked out most but not all of his second floor,
Starting point is 00:18:01 so that there was a viewing gallery for the mummy and then had a mummy party. put the, he put the facade back on his house. But he took, he had to literally take the whole facade off the outside of his house. Also, his, uh, there's a statue of his dog, uh, in his basement where he buried his dog. So he, this is his house. He lives there. And people come and like, look at shit.
Starting point is 00:18:24 He had a fucking sarcophagus party. He had an, I have a mummy party. He's dead now and now it's a museum, but yeah. Yeah. So he's not there like, you know, going through the mail. He didn't invent scale. models like in the 70s. Right. Is that what you were thinking?
Starting point is 00:18:39 I wasn't thinking. Yeah. It could be because he has a mummy. He could have gotten, you know, like mummy undead powers. Yeah. It's possible he had a mummy undead powers. I don't know. I don't know how you get those. I can't speak to that.
Starting point is 00:18:55 You could just buy a mummy? I think then you could. You could at the time. I mean, like 1820. I think especially if you were British, I think it was really cool. But then it's yours and you can like just unwrap it and like, They can see what's in there. Check it out. Put a little hat on it.
Starting point is 00:19:08 Weekend at Bernie's. Covered in peanut butter. Right? Yeah. Everything's better if it's covered in peanut butter. Everything. Everything's better. I went to Boston to ride on a clipper ship.
Starting point is 00:19:24 Yes. You and John Hodgman, you were like the entertainment on a some sort of comedy boat. Yeah. Is that right? Well, it's an interesting quote. First of all, if John Hodgman and I are on the boat, it's a humor boat at best. But, yeah, Mark Evan Jackson,
Starting point is 00:19:44 the wonderful and pleasant actor and improviser, Mark Evan Jackson, who folks would know from the Good Place and from Brooklyn Nine-N-N-N-N-N-His-hold husband. And a great deleted scene from Pop Star. I think that's what we all know, Mark Evan Jackson. The Nick? Oh, no, Hodgman's in the Nick. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:20:01 Yeah. Yeah. So Mark Evan Jackson, as a child, was obsessed with sailing, even though he grew up in Indiana or something, somewhere in the Midwest. So was I. And so... You were obsessed with sailing? Loved it, yeah. Did you go sailing or did you just like...
Starting point is 00:20:17 My dad briefly had a boat. I loved it, yeah. Okay. Mark Evan Jackson, after college, or perhaps during college, spent his summers being a crew member of a wooden sailing ship in Maine. And apparently in Maine, there is this tradition of a thing that is called wind jamming, which I'll direct your eyes to the screen. Daniel filling in for, filling in for Christian today, has brought up a photo of Mark Evan Jackson from Insta in front of a wooden ship. So handsome. It's true.
Starting point is 00:20:57 Nothing. Jesse's story is not a lot. So handsome, so trustworthy, Mark Evan Jay. Wouldn't you trust him with it? Wouldn't you trust him with your boat? Of course. So anyway, Mark Evan Jackson.
Starting point is 00:21:08 Just cut out a pop star. I mean, come on. Obsessed with wooden sailing ships. And of course, the art of improv. Travels the nation performing with Bluebird. Yeah. But Mark Evan Jackson, at some point, like, I don't know if this was a pandemic hobby or what.
Starting point is 00:21:25 I can't imagine that Mark Evan Jackson is a rich man. I mean, he's had some sense. success as a recurring character on Brooklyn 9-9 playing Lieutenant Holt's husband. Yeah. But, you know, this guy isn't, uh, this guy isn't the star of ballistics X versus sever. No. You know what I mean? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:21:43 That's, um, uh, Lucy Lou. Antonio Banderas, maybe? One of the two. I think so. So anyway, Mark Evan Jackson and two other people bought one of these boats. Yeah. These boats are, it's a schooner. So it sleeps like 25 or 30 people.
Starting point is 00:22:03 So it's a big boat, but not a huge boat. Yeah. Does that make sense? Yeah. And the sleeping, it's not like on like a cruise ship where you get your own little hotel room. It's basically a private bunk, you know, like it's not, it's not like you pull a curtain across.
Starting point is 00:22:22 There is a little door, but you would hit your head if you stood up straight. Do you have a little window, a little portal? No, no little window portal. because this is a wooden boat. So they're not putting, they're not putting extra holes in it. You know what I mean? They got enough holes as it is.
Starting point is 00:22:36 Yeah, it makes sense. And Mark Evan Jackson is friends with Hodgman. I've met the man. I'm going to have a cordial relationship with him. I admire him in his work. He seems like a lovely man. I loved his boat. But he's not,
Starting point is 00:22:50 I wouldn't say he's my friend. Sure. But, you know, Hodgman is a main entertainer now. He's full time main humorist. And so he invited, John and me to go on this ship and ride on this ship as like the... I mean, we didn't do a show. Like, there's no facilities for us doing a show.
Starting point is 00:23:12 So it's like... Yeah, they're not putting in portals. We're not putting in a stage in a PA system. This is sort of like if, like, you were on a boat with Lynn Swan, the Hall of Fame wide receipt from the Steelers. You know what I mean? Like, it's just like there's a guy there that shakes your hand on the way in. think it, you know, Steve, we're talking, you're, you're going to appear at some, some
Starting point is 00:23:35 Coma-Conn's and stuff. Yeah. There's, like, things at Comic-Con's where you could go behind a curtain and just, like, mill about with Elvira for an hour, you know? Yeah, yeah. Kind of like that. Yeah. You know, you've got to pull that curtain before you mill about with Elvira.
Starting point is 00:23:48 Oh, yeah. A beautiful Cassandra Peterson. You're going to want to pull the curtain. So you're not like, but you're, you're, you're there to, like, just not do a show, but, Yeah. Just be friendly. Yeah, like a casino greeter. Okay.
Starting point is 00:24:03 Like Mickey Mantle greeting people at the door of the Golden Nugget. Uh-huh. And that's a great gig. I mean, that's awesome. You don't have to prep anything? Just be pleasant and funny. That's great. So we flew out there.
Starting point is 00:24:18 We did a show in Boston in Brookline, where Hodgman's from, to cover my plane ticket and stuff. We hung out for a day or two at Hodgman's house in Maine. And then we got on this boat. were on the boat for four or five nights, and it was a grand time. I can't recommend wind jamming enough. Wind jamming. It doesn't go into the ocean. Uh-huh. So it is, but the coast of Maine is all these, like, boats, all these boats, is all these islands and bays and little inlet. She going in and out of the islands and bays. Exactly. Oh, that's cool. And it's a real wooden, I mean, this ship was built in like the
Starting point is 00:24:59 1860s or something like that. I care. 1880s, maybe. And just at some point, in the, like, 50s, nobody needed wooden boats anymore. And there was just a guy going around pointing out, yeah, I'll take that one. And turning them into these sort of pleasure cruising vehicles.
Starting point is 00:25:20 There's a captain, Captain Sam. At one point, Captain Sam was smoking a pipe. well, whirling the wheel. That's what we call captain style. That's awesome. He's like, I get it. People want to see me do captain. Was he cursing?
Starting point is 00:25:38 He was... The whale who took his leg? He did a lot of squinting. Squinting. He squinted a lot, fair bit of squinting. Sunburned cheeks and nose. Yep. Gazing wistfully out at the horizon.
Starting point is 00:25:50 Very handsome man, too. Not a 65... You know, I'd be most comfortable with a 65-year-old captaining, but maybe like a 40-year-old. Oh, this is Captain Ron. This is a Captain Ron situation 100%. Okay. Then there is this crew of four, three or four hands, first mate, first mate Maya and then some hands that help her.
Starting point is 00:26:13 They are all just monumentally competent 26-year-old women. Just these ladies that you would trust to fix your revolvo. pull on whatever rope is necessary, just get a thing up. Like sometimes, sometimes. Not types. Types you know. Tie a sheep shank. Sheep shankers.
Starting point is 00:26:40 These fuckers can tie any goddamn knot there is. You yell at a knot, they'll start tying. And they all are smiling and being nice to everyone the whole time. That's what's incredible. What's the food situation like on this thing? Great question. You're talking about chef Ian? What's going on in the galley?
Starting point is 00:26:54 You're talking about chef Ian then. Sure. Sure. I mean, he's the one that's down in the galley. Well, Chef Ian's dad did seven years for bank robbery in Northern Ireland.
Starting point is 00:27:04 Love it. Hey. Chef Ian used to work in, you know, Michelin-starred restaurants, and he is opening a new restaurant, probably in the fall in Maine. So you have an Irish accent?
Starting point is 00:27:15 No, he's got an American accent. I think he may have been born in Ireland and raised in America, but no accent on this guy. A classic chef-type guy. I mean, I'm talking about always wearing a knit cap, no matter what the weather may be.
Starting point is 00:27:32 I'm talking about a lot of tattoos. I'm talking about rolled up sleeves all the time. I'm talking about, all right, for you guys today, I made a, that kind of thing. I will chef you in. There's a big clang to clang, a big, about 50. I put in about 50 years old. Very nice man.
Starting point is 00:27:50 He had a galley hand as well. She was very nice young woman. She made a Trace's cake. for us. Love it. Great dessert. The food situation is just fucking abundant. Just abundant.
Starting point is 00:28:05 I don't know how Chef Ian does it. I don't know what Chef Ian's running from. I don't know how Chef Ian ended up working on this boat. Running from. But you wake up in the morning. You wake up pretty early. As soon as I go on land, the cops grab me. I set foot on land.
Starting point is 00:28:22 Yeah. He's got to. He's grabbed by SWAT team guys. Gotta stay in international waters. Yeah, you have to. Some of these Maine islands are actually like a sealand situation. Somebody occupied it and declared an independent nation. Of course.
Starting point is 00:28:36 You wake up at like seven. You get up, everybody wanders up onto the deck. They're having a cup of coffee. Fucking chef Ian brings out a beautiful pastry that he's made for everyone. One time he had a 16 or 18 inch cast iron pan. There was just one giant cinnamon bun. Okay. People are just reaching in there.
Starting point is 00:29:01 Just slicing it up. Oh, my God. It was unbelievable. Steve, what's the longest you've been at sea? That's a great question. We like to ask all our guests, what's the longest they've been at sea? And we're talking about it in a literal sense. I mean, like in a boat, not just emotionally or...
Starting point is 00:29:18 Right. Well, when my dad had, my dad had a sailboat, like a 32-foot sailboat. Wow. Go back and forth to Catalina in it. And so that, I think the longest I've ever been on a boat was like a couple hours. Well, it's longer on a sailboat, but, and you know, we would more in the bay there. So probably, you know, 24 hours. Did it have a, did it have bunks on it?
Starting point is 00:29:43 Do you sleep on it? I don't really remember. That's how young I was. And then they, they sold it and bought a. cabin on Catalina and we would do the regular ships over. I've never been to Catalina. It's like CityWalk. Really? Yeah. So there's Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville. John Levitts has a comedy club there. Bubba Gump shrimp company. No, that's the one good thing about Catalina. There's no like corporate like anything. There's no like Starbucks, no fast food.
Starting point is 00:30:13 No John Lovitz? No Lovitz. None. Well, no John Lovitz. I would say. But, but. But, but. character on the critic says it stinks. But it's a quick, cheap trip. Keep trip. Yes. Cheap. Cheap. Cheap.
Starting point is 00:30:28 A quick cheap. A cheap. A quick, cheap. A quick, cheap. A quick cheap trip. Yes. So, like, it's always packed. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:30:36 It's like, it's like that kind of like, like, see vacation town where it's like a taffy store and a little nautical bar. Yeah. You know what I think about taffy? I think it's really good. It is good. It's amazing. It's amazing. Great flavors.
Starting point is 00:30:54 If you like texture. Saltwater taffy. Get it in there. You're a real texture nut. Oh, I love it. I think the Cubs, either the, is it the Cubs that used to, or the White Sox that used to practice spring training on Catalina. I'm going to say the Cubs because the Cubs.
Starting point is 00:31:12 Yeah, the Riggly family or Los Angeles family that own the Cubs. When's the last time you've done a boat? thing in your life? Probably Catalina for a wedding. Oh, okay. About five or six years ago. Okay. Would you...
Starting point is 00:31:26 I get really bad seasickness now. You don't feel the sea calling to you. No. Okay. I did get a little seasick. There was rough weather the first day. Yeah. It's fucking crazy how fast and intensely the weather changes in New England at this time of year.
Starting point is 00:31:46 I was really stunned. buy it where there are like, I mean, you're also out on the water so there's a lot more wind and stuff. So like, I'm like, oh, I better put on a fleece. Oh, I better put my windbreaker on on top of my fleece. Wait a minute. Is it 85 degrees? Oh, now it's pouring rain. You know what I mean? Yeah. But there was there was a few hours right at the beginning where we were really plowing through some choppy seas. And during that time, your boy went downstairs and lay down on his bed and did a little sweating while he waited for the dramamine to kick it. Didn't throw up. Didn't throw up. Didn't throw up. Didn't throw up. Didn't throw up. Didn't throw up. Hold it together. Lately, I've been taking
Starting point is 00:32:28 gramamine just on a regular airplane. And I had never felt like I was going to need to use an air sickness bag or anything on an airplane. And I almost always get a migraine on an airplane. So I'm always suffering. anyway. But one day I was just flying, I had a connecting flight and I was really feeling bad and I was in the airport in between. And I just said, what can I buy at this airport store that might help me? And I just bought some dramamine and took it just because why not? And it fucking helps a lot. That's what I do with Benadryl. I don't feel, I don't feel awful when I take it. I feel pain if I get a migraine, but I don't feel like I'm going to like sweat out my inside. I'm part of the migraine family too.
Starting point is 00:33:13 I have a chronic condition called vestibular migraines. Oh, yeah. Causes my vertigo, which is pretty much all the time. Yeah. But I don't get the headaches. I get ocular migraines as well, but I just... Is that some crystals, ear crystals? No, no, that's a whole different thing.
Starting point is 00:33:29 This is like a neurological... You treat this with crystals, correct? Crystal mess. Crystal meth. Actually, that would probably help. Gwyneth Paltrow has a great website. for Crystal meth. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:33:45 Hey, you guys want to take a little break. Let's order some meth from Gwyneth. And we'll come back. We'll take a part of dishwasher. And we'll do some more podcasting. We'll be back in just a second on the show, Jordan Jesse. It's Jordan Jesse. Go.
Starting point is 00:34:13 I'm Jesse Thorne America's radio sweetheart. Jordan Morris Boy Detective. Jordan. Yes. Every, first of all, thank you to the members of Maximum Fund. We just recorded a new episode of our show, TBW, to be watched. Yes. You'll hear a snippet of it in the regular feed if you're not already a member.
Starting point is 00:34:31 If you are a member, when you hear that snippet, you can go listen to the whole thing. It is about, what was the name of this movie? The War of the Gargantuan's. It's about two gorillas. Yeah. Who are vampires? One is made of seaweed. And one is called Frankenstein.
Starting point is 00:34:45 Yeah, they're both Frankenstein. They're both Frankenstein. They call them Frankenstein. Anyway, you guys. Gotta listen. I'm not going to explain a good run in my mouth here. Jesse and I on this show, we're both picking stuff from our, from our, it's been in our queue forever. If you're wondering what Jordan's been waiting to watch. War of the gargantuanas. What he's been, what, what's on his, I got to get this taken care of. That's what you got like a, in your, in your ever notes, you just have a like, get oil, get oil changed. Figure out what these gargantuanas are all about. It's a movie from the.
Starting point is 00:35:22 the 60s directed by the guy who directed Godzilla. We got some wild experience. We got something up on the Jumbotron. The Jumbotron is where Jordan Jesse Go listeners can share messages with other Jordan Jesse Go listeners by going to maximum fund.org slash jumbotron. This is a message for all Jordan Jesse go listeners from a Jordan Jesse go listener. That's what the information here says. This one is pretty cryptic.
Starting point is 00:35:46 I mean, usually what these are for, Jesse. The best, you know, some of the best use cases are, you know, plug in someone's podcast, plugging a band. Wishing somebody a happy birthday. Oh, yeah, absolutely. Wishing somebody a happy birthday who, you know, listens. This is just a listener yelling at other listeners. Yeah. And we'll read that too.
Starting point is 00:36:07 I don't care. Give us $100. We'll do it. Listen up, nerds. If you're talking to a fucking Normie and mention the show and they ask, oh, what kind of podcast is that? You reply, Jordan Jesse Go is better. experienced than explained. But it might help to also say
Starting point is 00:36:25 comedy podcasts. Just say it's a fun chat show. It's a fun comedy podcast. And then you can say JJ Go is better experience than explain. Spoke smoke bomb or whirl your cape or whatever and disappear.
Starting point is 00:36:39 What do you think? There's a couple of gargantuous. They didn't have capes. Were we watching the same movie? Oh, no. The gargantuous have capes? What are we? I remember the...
Starting point is 00:36:49 We need to watch it again. I remember clearly didn't retain it. I remember scientists drive dots and roadsters. That's true. I remember that. It was very stylish scientists.
Starting point is 00:36:58 Sharp, cool scientists. One of them is David Cross's father-in-law. All right. Thank you. Maximumfund.org slash jumbotron. Jordan, I saw your
Starting point is 00:37:11 spiderversity at the comic book store today. Ooh. And I would encourage people to go make sure that they got their pull- They got the web of venom and they got Spider-Versity on their pull lists.
Starting point is 00:37:24 Yeah, please do. The Amazing Spider-Man Spider-Versity coming out. Issues 4 and 5 still on the horizon. Get on it. This is a lot of fun. And, of course, the amazing venom coming in September. You can pre-order all five issues mailed to you at bit.ly slash goo friends. It's a fun intergalactic venom adventure that you don't need to know a lot about Marvel to read.
Starting point is 00:37:49 And of course, if you are shopping for a gift for somebody this summer, perhaps for a wedding gift, perhaps for a birthday gift, perhaps because you love someone and you'd like them to have something beautiful in their life. Go to Put This On Shop at Put This On Shop.com. What's the best thing you've put in there recently, would you say? Well, Jordan, I do have a size extra large touched by an angel commemorative crew jacket. Wow. I hope someone buys that. And I got some... Great.
Starting point is 00:38:22 I got some giant Spider-Man's and Batmans that I bought in Mexico. This sounds gorgeous. And I got... I also bought it from the same pile of crew jackets I found. I bought a crew jacket from the movie Bounce. Okay. That is signed with many thanks. B.A. and G.P.
Starting point is 00:38:39 That's Gwyneth Paltrow and Ben Affleck. Hey. Isn't that nice? These are legit collector's items. I'm only charged... $80 for this touched by an angel jacket. I can't admit. How is no one bought a touch by an angel jacket from me yet?
Starting point is 00:38:54 I don't know. It's beautiful. And then I have a lot of really beautiful Mexican silver and stuff. So you go buy the beautiful things as well. Something for everyone. Put this on shop.com. Okay, we'll be back in just a second on Jordan. Jesse go. It's Jordan Jesse Go. I am Jesse Thorne America's radio sweetheart.
Starting point is 00:39:21 Jordan Morris, boy detective. Steve Agee, double-decker bus pervert. Oh, yeah. That's already Jordan's thing, Steve. Jordan's the one out here fucking these buses. Dude, we're piezing a pod, baby. Jump in, Jesse. It's fun here in the pod.
Starting point is 00:39:38 Oh, we travel, man. We hung out at the Excalibur one night in Vegas. We did. That was really fun. That was mental. Yeah, Steve and I were both in Vegas at the same time for different things. And we figured it out from social media or something. And we met up at the X-Caliber at one of those bars were they're intentionally mean to you.
Starting point is 00:39:59 What? Yeah. There's cuck bars at the... Like a nerd de Babix. No, no, you went there, Jesse. We didn't say anything. We didn't say anything about wife's getting fucked. Yeah, they're mean.
Starting point is 00:40:10 There's a bunch of little chairs. It's a bunch of little chairs. It's one of those like Dick Dick's Last Resort or something where they like have like pre-planned slams that they do to you and they come over at the table. I truly don't know what you're talking about. You keep saying that like that's something I would naturally under. I know there's like a hot dog restaurant that's famous for doing that in Chicago, Illinois. This is like it's more of a cheney experience. There's not a lot of the more.
Starting point is 00:40:40 bar and like every now and then they'll like bring a paper hat that they made that says something really shitty about you on it so you can't read it and it's fucking rude and awful and that was happening they were bringing over mean hats for us it was and it was this was like when there was a season of peacemaker airing I think yeah and a guy would come over and be a dick and then he would come over and go like hey I love the show and it was like really cute I was like this rules That was funny. And like kind of a poll. Anyway.
Starting point is 00:41:10 Yeah. Fun times. That does sound nice. We had a good time. But we're going to listen to some phone calls. Yeah. Oh. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:41:19 Yeah. You don't want to? You want to do something else? You know what? You know what you want to do? I was just going to say that you guys are peas in the pod and, you know, I peed in the pod. Oh, cool. You peed in a pod.
Starting point is 00:41:32 You peed in a pod. Okay. It's kind of similar. Yeah. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. Let's listen to some.
Starting point is 00:41:38 calls 206-984-Fund or JJGo at maximum fun.org for your voice memos. Here's one telephone call we received. It's probably a momentous occasion, but you know what? Christian's out this week, and Daniel Speer, all he knows is the names of the MP3 files that Christians sent over. So we're going to find out. We're going to find out what it is. This one's called Garf Review.
Starting point is 00:42:01 This one's called Garf Review. We all know what this is going to be. If you're keeping score at home, this one's called Garf Review. dot MP3. Dot MP3. So this is going to be an MP3 file. Not an M4A.
Starting point is 00:42:14 Not an AIFFF. You think it's a W-AV? Absolutely not. Hey, Jordan. Hey, Jesse. Hey, guests. This is just calling in with your classic segment
Starting point is 00:42:23 reviewing Jordan's new comic. I just read Baby Garfield about his hilarious touch of the beach and I got to give this five out of five stars. It was an incredibly funny comic and really, really cute.
Starting point is 00:42:35 Great jokes and great art. Thank you all right, guys. Have a good one. I mean, we've already covered this, but when I went to the comic book store to buy Baby Garfield, number three, there was just a sign that said,
Starting point is 00:42:48 we're sold out of Baby Garfield. Don't ask, no Garf. Who did your art? The art in Baby Garfield is by Tin Pham, Eisner Winterton Fam. He did a brilliant memoir called Family Style about his family
Starting point is 00:43:02 immigrating and then kind of their life as told through food. It's really beautiful. Was it family style P-H-A-M? He said he put the kibosh on that. He said that's what they wanted to call it. He's like, guys, we can't call it that.
Starting point is 00:43:17 That was thrown out at some point. Yes. So it's just called family style. It's really great. And I was like, I got his number. I'm texting him like, hey, man, you want to do a Garfield? And he did. It was really cool.
Starting point is 00:43:28 I've got a baby Garfield coming up. Oh, yeah? Art by Jim Lee. Wow. So he's going to have huge. Tits. Yeah, you've got so many guns. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:43:39 Like strapped to parts of his body? Mm-hmm. He's got, this guy's got a gun strapped to his huge pendulumless balls. Oh, hell yeah. I don't hate that. Like some jimly art. I mean, it sounds all right to rain. Baby Garfield, number three, if you can get it, I don't know, it sounds like it's sold out basically everywhere, and it's going to be very valuable someday.
Starting point is 00:43:59 But you know what? Go to your comic book store in case you can get one, because this is going to be a good investment. Oh, yeah. You should sell them on the... Max Fonsight. Oh, yeah, maybe. We'd rather not say. We don't want to be associated with cats who are rude.
Starting point is 00:44:15 Do you, when you talk to the, when you talk to the Garfield people, what do they have to say about Heathcliff? They say we are distancing ourselves from the nonsensical humor of Heathcliff. I don't know. Just be interested to know if they got a relationship, if they ever talk. Yeah. Not Heathcliff and Garfield, obviously. They're fictional characters from two different universe. Well, Garfield stays within the ham limit.
Starting point is 00:44:39 Of course, there's something we all know about Garfield that stays within the ham limit. Did you see that? Did you see Heathcliff this week? Were they all just saying yam? I did say that. No. Yeah. See if you're familiar with how weird Heathcliff has gotten.
Starting point is 00:44:54 No. It's gotten weirder? It's been weird for a couple of years now. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, it's been some years. And this new Heathcliff is just, uh, Well, the thing is, is that these guys, they're, I'll show, Steve Agee, I'll show, So it's new ownership.
Starting point is 00:45:13 Yeah, it's like the nephew of the original guys. And he is kind of a brilliant weirdo, and the comics make no sense, and they're all I laugh at. Yeah, they're the only thing that's left for me. It's like, you remember that movie The Aristocrats? Yes. that's now it's that for me but it's just
Starting point is 00:45:37 for some reason Heathcliff is leaving the house in a yam costume and then all the birds around there are just saying yeah yeah Steve when we met in Vegas
Starting point is 00:45:47 am I wrong were you there to do stand up at a wrestling match yeah how'd it go well it I don't know if it was WrestleMania weekend
Starting point is 00:45:57 but there was a big WWE event and my friends Ryan and Nick Nemeth, who are both wrestlers, they will usually go out for these weekend-long events, and they're both very funny and do stand-up. And so they will book a venue outside of the event and just advertise it. And it's largely wrestling fans who are amazing, like really rowdy, but like in the best way, like really fun shows. But yeah, I was there for that. And you were there for punk rock bowling, I think.
Starting point is 00:46:32 Yeah, yeah, that's something I do. Well, they didn't do it this year. But yeah, most years I have some scumbag buddies who I meet in Vegas for a three-day celebration of the punk rock of the late 80s and early 90s. But I think we actually met up, though, before the Excalibur at Roy Choi's restaurant. We did, yeah, yeah. Boy, that was good. That was a real good meal. I went candle pinballing with Hodgeman.
Starting point is 00:47:00 Wow. That's true. I don't know. That sounds awesome. This is like a type of bowling that is only exists in certain parts of New England. It is not to be confused with duck pin bowling, which is also maybe only existed in certain parts of New England. Smaller bills. So they're small. They're skinny and straight like a candle.
Starting point is 00:47:21 If you imagine a candle. Oh, I am. I'm imagining. They're skinny and straight. And then the ball is about the size of maybe a soft ball. Yeah. And you really huck it. in there. And you get three rolls. And you get three rolls. And this bowling center in Ellsworth,
Starting point is 00:47:39 Maine that Hodgman loves. Hodgman loves it because it was just, for a long time, it was just this one lady. And she like got it from her grandparents. She was like 24 or something like that. And she couldn't get insurance to cover other employees being in there because of the equipment. Whoa. Like the equipment was too hard to insure. if any other person was allowed in there. Like stray balls hitting people and stuff? So it was just this one lady and her bowling alley. You could lose an arm in the pin resetter.
Starting point is 00:48:12 It would just rip your arm off. Exactly. And this bowling alley, like, you've never been in a janky or bowling alley in your life. But there is also just all these like handmade signs by the lady that owns the bowling alley about how much she appreciates everyone coming in. I love it. And also fucking Candlepin bowling is fun
Starting point is 00:48:33 as shit because it's fun to throw the ball super hard which you can't really do with a bowling ball. So you don't, you're not restricted to underhand can you like sidearm it? You're like sort of, yeah, you're sort of submarineing it. It's not skipping a stone. You're not rolling it.
Starting point is 00:48:49 Yeah, it's more like a Dan Quisendary kind of thing. Dan Quisendberry! Yeah, it's like a Dan Quisendberry. Yeah, it's like a Dan Quisendberry. I know that reference. Holy Holy shit. Yeah, it's like a Dan Quisendberry. Barry. And what's duck pin bowling? Duck pin bowling is it looks like a little duck. I think it's also three rolls, but the pin looks more like a regular bowling pin, but is a little
Starting point is 00:49:14 different. Okay. I think it looks like a duck's head looking straight up, right? Let's look at the internet. Is Hodren full-time Maine now? He's, well, he's sort of full-time Maine. His wife is retiring from teaching, so. Oh, duck pinballing, they look like, they look like little chunky boys. Oh, that's funny. They're little stump-a-roonies. They look like a Peking duck. They look like a Peking duck hanging in the window.
Starting point is 00:49:43 Little thick tics. Yeah, I think Hodgman is, I think Hodgman is trying out a full main lifestyle. I mean, it's beautiful up there. Jealous. You can see the appeal. You know what I mean? Got some nice neighbors and stuff. They come over for dinner.
Starting point is 00:50:01 Hang out. Where do you fly into when you're going? He flies into Maine. I know, but like... I flew into Boston. Bangor, Portland? Portland. Portland Airport is a great airport.
Starting point is 00:50:11 I'll tell you. I'll tell you why. When you were there, did you get any trading cards from dogs? I did not. Yeah. So when I was there, I'm just hanging out with my friend John Hodgman, talking about his lunch with Dave Foley, where they talked about UFOs the whole time,
Starting point is 00:50:28 because Hodgman, look, if you're out there and you're interested in fucking something from a time life book from the 70s, and that's your special interest, have lunch with Hodgman because you'll talk to you about it forever. But we're talking about Dave Foley and Dave Foley's different thoughts about UFOs. And then this dog comes up to us. We're like, who let a fucking dog in the airport? You know, dogs usually aren't in the airport unless they're in a little carrier. And this man says, would you like to pet a dog? to which we said, please and thank you, yes.
Starting point is 00:51:03 Is it free? We started petting this dog. First pet's free. And then they charge. And they get your hooked. And they give you the peanut butter. Put a little bit. You smear it on the mummy.
Starting point is 00:51:17 It all makes sense. It all makes sense. Everything's good. We're petting the shit out of this. And you're allowed to pet him as long as you want. This is like an airport de-stressed dog. It's like a mutt. It's like a mental health dog for the airport.
Starting point is 00:51:32 Then it's finally, it's time for this dog to go. We probably, I mean, literally we probably petted this dog for 10 minutes. You know what I mean? Maybe even 15 minutes. We had a long time in the airport there. Love it. We petting this dog for a long time. Finally time for the dog to go.
Starting point is 00:51:49 Runs over your toes. The dog's... Runs right over your toes. The dog's minder, the dog's minder says, would you like a trading card? He gives us a baseball card of the dog. With its stat, does he have stats on the back? Like how good he is.
Starting point is 00:52:05 He has stats on the back. What a good boy he is. Gebus as, you know, spot, GB for his boy. There's a collector edition of that card where you can see it's a boner. Like the C3PO card.
Starting point is 00:52:17 We got the refractor. Did you, when I, the one time I went to Maine was for convention and somebody brought up Moxie, the soda? Yeah. They're like, have you ever tried Moxie?
Starting point is 00:52:32 I was like, I don't know what that is. And they're like, some people say it's the first soda ever made in the United States. Yeah, or it's first soda ever. I was like, no, I'd love to try it. It's definitely before they figured out how to make soda taste good. It was fucking horrible. Yeah, it tastes really bad. Like battery acid, man.
Starting point is 00:52:48 Yeah, it tastes really bad. I ate some grape nut ice cream. That's another sort of northeastern Maine. I don't hate the sound of that. And you know why you don't? Because the shit is pretty good. It is like a sweet cream ice cream rather than a vanilla ice cream. So the whole thing has a little bit of a buttery quality to it.
Starting point is 00:53:09 It's a little malty from that. And the freezing the grape nuts in the ice cream gives them a really excellent texture. It really captures them at that perfect moment in between break your teeth and glue. that is so essential to the successful eating of grape nuts. Is it branded from the Grape Nuts Corporation? No, this is made at parlors across the great state of Maine and in certain parts of Massachusetts and New Hampshire and whatnot, is my understanding.
Starting point is 00:53:43 But generally, especially in Maine. And shout out to Pug Nuts. That's the one that we went to, Pug Nuts. We had a great time eating that Grape Nuts ice ice ice cream. it. Oh, my God. Content TK on Judge John Hodgman's social channels. Make sure to subscribe there.
Starting point is 00:54:01 I got to get up there. Hodgman called me and left me a voicemail. Yeah, we were in the car just talking about what a great guy Steve Aegee is. That's nice. Always happy. Yeah. Sending voice memos to Steve Aegee.
Starting point is 00:54:15 I think we have another call. And judging by the file name that Christian gave it, I think this is going to be about jacking off. It was pugnuts. Pugnuts. Yes. Hey, Jordan. Hey, Jesse.
Starting point is 00:54:30 This is Mike calling in from walking in D.C. The signature segment of teens work up with them. I just saw a local teen in my neighborhood wearing a t-shirt that said, I'm six feet from the edge, and I'm gooning. I didn't believe I read it right at first, but I googled it. And sure enough, it's a t-shirt. It's so expensive. Just love you guys. Bye.
Starting point is 00:54:51 All right. So, gooning is like crank. it for a long time. Yeah, it's kind of like endurance masturbation where you kind of see how long you can go. Yeah, and apparently all teens
Starting point is 00:55:07 are doing it all the time. It's all they do. I mean, in a certain way, we have a picture of a tea with that slogan up here on the screen courtesy of Daniel. And this has a
Starting point is 00:55:22 wolfman on it, kind of a furry style of first suit style wolfman. And the wolfman is crying to the moon howling is the verb I was looking for it. The wolfman is howling at the moon like he's
Starting point is 00:55:38 a powerful sexual monster beast from all the gooning that he's done. I think a reference to the Creed song too. It's a reference to Daniel says a reference to the Creed song. I'm six feet from the edge and I'm gooning.
Starting point is 00:55:54 I wouldn't take you for a big Creed guy knowing what I know about you It's sort of become a meme On the internet I'm sitting free from the edge And I'm shaking To be like Ha ha ha creed is funny
Starting point is 00:56:06 Let's play Creed when we're doing something Because it's so serious Right We'll be silly Okay When it's playing yeah I'm loving this I love way to go Gen C
Starting point is 00:56:16 Why would you want to fucking take your time I usually it's just like I didn't get this done and get on with my day. Well, that's because you're focused on productivity, which is that's totally understandable. You're an adult man. You have adult man's responsibilities.
Starting point is 00:56:35 So you are focusing on, you're focusing on TCB, right? Yeah, yeah, yeah. I think these young people, they're focused on, it's like how they say, you know, if you want to get a young person, and a gift, you want to give them an experience.
Starting point is 00:56:55 Yeah. They're focused on experiences more than material goods. So take them to an ostrich farm or something. Well, you thought you're supposed to stop them from Jack it off. You've seen those things? Yeah. Boom. You'd be surprised.
Starting point is 00:57:12 You'd be surprised. You'd go to an ostrich farm. You'd be surprised how many fellows are there, gooning. Sure. And some of the ostriches besides. Yeah. I've been to one up by Sananella. What was that town called with the windmills?
Starting point is 00:57:33 Oh, sure. I know it's like a Dutch-themed town in Central California. Yeah, Solving. Solving. Solving. They have an ostrich farm there, and it's disturbing. You know, there was an ostrich farm right in Lincoln Heights, Los Angeles. The very self-same neighborhood in which I live,
Starting point is 00:57:54 there were adjacent an ostrich farm and an alligator farm right on Lincoln Park. That's a true story. In modern times? This is until like the 60s. Okay. 60s, 70s, something like that. They'd close down. Like they would rent out crocodiles for the movies and the whole nine yards.
Starting point is 00:58:14 Wow. If you need to get rid of a mistress, she'd take her down there. Wasn't there a time when like ostrich meat was supposed to be a thing? Like it's the meat of the future. Maybe emus? Maybe emus. No, Astroburgers sold ostrich burgers. Oh yeah, right.
Starting point is 00:58:32 They might still do it. Have you ever had one? Yeah. In the 90s, I had one. How was it? It was fine. I mean, it was like a turkey burger or something. You know, pretty lean.
Starting point is 00:58:43 It was the 90s. I mean, you could just go to the cuckaroo. But you couldn't get ostrich I saw one of those You know like a like a hip coffee shop An Instagrammy coffee shop Will have like a neon sign You're supposed to take your picture by
Starting point is 00:58:59 And it usually says like You go girl boss or something I saw one that said Oh do go on But go and on were too close So it looks like it said Oh do goon I'm like do you know
Starting point is 00:59:15 Do they know Are they trying to get the anyway. I don't know. Talk to me after I've had my caffeine. Sure. Don't talk to me until I've had my gooning. Daniel, is that a shirt?
Starting point is 00:59:27 Look and see, look on tea public. And see, don't talk to me until I've had my gooning as a shirt. Got it. You know the fucking McElroy's have already said that. Oh, they probably have. They probably have. Fucking. Yeah, they beat us all.
Starting point is 00:59:40 They beat us to all the good shit. Justin probably already said that. Um, did you, did you, do you pet the ostrich? Do you feed the ostrich? You feed it. Like they have those dispensers and they give you like this like kind of scooper. And you hold it up and they annihilate it in about half a second. Right.
Starting point is 01:00:02 Like I guess I got to pay for more of this. Yeah. You know what? Honestly, if I'm at a petting zoo or what have you, I don't really care how much the food costs. I'm going to buy some of it and feed it to them. That's the most fun thing in this. I don't care if they bite me.
Starting point is 01:00:18 It doesn't matter what the animal is. Kick you to death. I could be at a petting zoo and they'd be like, you want to buy a steak for the tiger? And I'd be like, steak. Sure. I'll feed a steak to a tiger. Sure.
Starting point is 01:00:34 Can I put it in one of those? You know how you take like a craft paper bag and you roll the top down a little bit so it looks like a rolled sleeve? Yeah. God. And there's a steak in there and you feed it to the tiger. One of my favorite genres of like YouTube or TikTok videos are the ones of like families and they've got a dash cam and they're going through like one of those like a safari drive through and the animals are just like reaching in for the food and they are all screaming and crying. Love those.
Starting point is 01:01:06 Love them. Where do you where does that happen? Where do you go to one of those? There used to be one in Southern California called Lion Country Safari. Yeah. In Irvine. I think there's something like that at the San Diego Zoo. I think there's a safari.
Starting point is 01:01:21 There's two San Diego Zoo elements. One is a zoo zoo, and one is a drive through it in a thing. Animals running around you, Jurassic Park type situation. By a Jurassic Park situation, you mean all the power goes out. There's raptors and there's door handles. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And you look off at something in the distance. And you kind of look up with awe and your feet.
Starting point is 01:01:46 all the time. You're constantly awed by different things. They give you a little, they'll give you a little cup of water. Do your kids do the zoo, Jesse? Is that a family thing y'all can do? I took, when I went to San Diego, I took my daughter, Scarlett, to San Diego.
Starting point is 01:02:03 And what's nice about San Diego is there are a lot of different, there's a lot of different bullshit to pursue in San Diego. just a lot of silly tourist bullshit that is a pretty good quality. Look, you want to go on a fucking submarine? They got two. They got two submarines in an aircraft carrier and they got the boat from Master and Commander.
Starting point is 01:02:31 All just sitting there waiting for you to get a... I thought you meant at the zoo you were going to a submarine. I was like, what? It's not an animal? Then you pay to feed the submarine pellets and it just snatches it right out of your hand. They got the beach in San Diego. got Balboa Park, which is one of these giant parks designed by, is it, Frederick Law Olmsted?
Starting point is 01:02:51 I don't know. The guy that designed Central Park and Golden Gate Park in San Francisco and so forth. It's a solid park, man. And it's a really nice park. The best part that I, the best parts of that park that I visited were giant model train layout. Just shout out to an entire building full of fucking model train and old men just adding things to it. Like one of the biggest old men model train club buildings I've ever been in my life. Maybe the biggest.
Starting point is 01:03:18 Just I love these old nerds, just 70-year-old nerds just gluing things together. And then they got this like, they got this area that was, it was like for a world expo or a global exposition of some kind, a Pan Pacific exposition maybe in the 20s or something. they built all these little bungalows for all the nations of the world, and they've kept them as that since then. So it's just like a little bungalow that's smaller than the studio that we're sitting in right now. I mean, these are like, you know, 200 square foot bungalows or something. And you go in there and there's just a man ready to hand you a little pamphlet about Luxembourg. Just there's no, it's, you know, maybe some of them, they might have a few examples of like
Starting point is 01:04:08 folk clothing hanging on the walls or like train tourism posters or something sometimes they might like some of them they have like you go in the Greek one they might have like a little tray of Costco baklava that you can eat oh nice you know what I mean that is that is pretty great and then we went to the San Diego Zoo good the San Diego Zoo the San Diego Zoo is amazing but I'll recommend this to you if it turns out out that your child will want to be there for 75 minutes, do not pay the $65 it cost to get in. That would be my recommendation to you. Don't drop the $150 or whatever for two people to go in if after an hour your child is done
Starting point is 01:04:55 with any activity, including the San Diego Zoo. It is a nice zoo. Yeah. I mean, you know. They used to have the San Diego Wild Animal Park, which I think was one of those drive-through things. That's, I think, what the other part is. monkeys and get a good TikTok. I think there's a zoo part and then the drive around part.
Starting point is 01:05:12 Yeah. By the way, is Luxembourg still a thing? Oh, you didn't hear? She died. No, that's the whole thing. You never hear about Luxembourg anymore. That's right. Everybody's like, Andorra, Andorra, Andorra, Andorra. Okay, listen, guys, we've been talking for a while. It's a kind of, we've been doing kind of a podcast gooning here. Yeah. Let's take a break, hit our refractory periods, and then come back and finish it up. Can I tell you something before we go? Yeah. There was a cat on the boat, and its name was Fiji because the captain got it in Fiji. That's great.
Starting point is 01:05:45 She was very nice. She was 12 years old, and anyone could pet her. That's very nice. We'll be back in just a second on Jordan Jesse Go. La La La La La La La. Hey, Max Fun listeners. It's me, Jackie Cashin. I have a podcast with Lori Kilmartin.
Starting point is 01:06:03 Say hi, hi, Lori. Hi, Jacqueline. Hi, Max Fun listeners. but very formal. We have a podcast and it's about stand-of-comedy and how much we love it and how much we dislike some of it. So listen to that podcast.
Starting point is 01:06:17 It's called The Jackie and Laurie Show. We drop new episodes every Wednesday that gives us plenty of time to decompress from our comedy weekends and discuss things with sane level heads. No, it doesn't. If you are a woman our age or a man, our age. Or you know what?
Starting point is 01:06:33 Any person of any age. I think you'll enjoy your life. Jackie and Lori show on maximum fun.org. Bye. Are you a celebrity? Are you searching for meaning, connection, and a little levity these days? Hi, Uncle Mel Nanchion,
Starting point is 01:06:51 actor, writer, and yes, a celebrity too. And I've got four words for you. Bullseye with Jesse Thorne. Are you tired of junkets? Red carpets, sick of the endless spicy snacks you have to eat? Do you want to connect with someone who gets your work?
Starting point is 01:07:09 and laugh with you a little? Join me, Andre 3000, Tom Hanks, Tina Faye, and many more and become a guest on Bullseye with Jesse Thorn, from NPR and Maximum Fun. It's Jordan Jesse Go, I'm Jesse Thorne, America's Radio, sweetheart. Jordan Morris, boy, detective. Steve A.G., president of Luxembourg. Really?
Starting point is 01:07:38 While we were... No one will know. While we were on break. No one will ever know. Duly elected, sure. No one will ever know that you became president of Luxembourg? They'll never check. You're just saying no one will ever know that you're president of Luxembourg because no one listens to this show that you just announced a son.
Starting point is 01:07:56 They just won't check. Yeah. But they'll repeat it to people at parties. Like, oh, you know, Steve Agee from Peacemaker, he's president of Luxembourg. You know, once in a while we'll hear something from Steve Agee about something that happened on Jordan Jesse Go. And you know what I think to myself? It may be true that Steve Agee is the only person that listens to our show. but I definitely listen.
Starting point is 01:08:16 Still worth it. Yeah, worth it. You know what the capital of Luxembourg is? I would make an entire podcast just for Steve. What's the capital of Luxembourg? I believe it's Luxembourg. Yeah. No one will check.
Starting point is 01:08:27 No one will check. No one's going to fact check us. It could be true. Might be a lie. Who knows? Would you rather live in Luxembourg and Dora or Monaco? That's a tough one actually. Because you're a big sheep guy, so that's a big,
Starting point is 01:08:44 bonus point for Andorra. Maybe Andorra. You love a grand prix. Monaco seems a little bit too snobby. Okay. Yeah, you're more of a kind of a clock punch and lunchbox kind of guy.
Starting point is 01:09:00 You don't want to have to tip some chips to a croupier. Nah. Nah. Nah, dog. Nah, dog. Arp, Arp. Arp!
Starting point is 01:09:08 Arp! You've got evening clothes, though. You've been to the Emmys. I haven't. No. No. Tony's? Nope.
Starting point is 01:09:20 What's the... I went to the GLAD Awards once. Oh, what'd you wear to the GLAD Awards? I don't remember. It was a suit, though. Oh, you were a homosexual man on television. You and Brian Posein were boyfriends on television for a long time. We got nominated and lost to Ugly Betty.
Starting point is 01:09:36 Oh, yeah. I mean, you know, I can understand. You're two straight guys. It's true. I mean, while your characters were positive representations and very funny, I'd give it to somebody a gay person playing a gay person at the end of the day. That's what I met you. You interviewed me and Brian for Sound of Young America.
Starting point is 01:09:54 It's true. It's fun. Okay. In Korea Town. My apartment in Koreatown. How was the food at the Glad Awards? I think it was pretty good. I bet it is.
Starting point is 01:10:03 I'll tell you this. I went to the Equality California Awards. Pretty good food. Pretty good food. Okay. Pretty good food. Cool. But hey, points, this is all, this is all points for equality.
Starting point is 01:10:18 How's the food at punk rock bowling? There is. You know what? At punk rock bowling. Yeah. It's like, you know, it's, it's a, huh? Chefian's there. Sheffian's there.
Starting point is 01:10:30 Yeah, exactly. Cannot leave the festival grounds. He has to be helicoptered out of there. There is a, like, it's like a food truck village situation. And. Not bad. So, the guy. I go to punk rock bowling with
Starting point is 01:10:43 are not interested in the food part of Vegas and it's always frustrating to me they don't want to because the food is good in Vegas and to me that should be part of the fun there's like a lot of there's a lot of like Wolfgang Puck has a restaurant in Vegas
Starting point is 01:10:59 and Grant A. Shats has a restaurant in Vegas and Roy Choi has a restaurant in Vegas and etc. That should be part of it I think going to go into some of those the guys I go to this with don't care. They don't want to do it. They just want
Starting point is 01:11:16 to go to the thing and be at the thing. Which I get. You know, we paid to be at the thing. You should be at the thing. So I'm always like, ah, this is the eating's not going to be a pain in the ass. There's a lumpia truck at punk rock bowling. That fucking rules.
Starting point is 01:11:32 And every year, I'm like, I got to go to that lumpia truck. And I don't know. I can't eat that three days straight. But once or twice, the Olympia truck kind of rules. Could you get Lumpia one day and adobe the next day? You could. What's Lumpia?
Starting point is 01:11:46 It's like a, like a Filipino egg roll. Yeah. It's like an egg roll for Filipinos. And the ones out of this truck, fucking forget about it. They're really good. I wish I couldn't remember the name. Did you know that E40 has his own rap, Vallejo, California rapper E40 has his own brand of Frozen Olympia?
Starting point is 01:12:03 I didn't know that. Wow. Yeah. For sale where? For sale it, fucking Walmart and shit. All right. Okay. I get some Lumpia.
Starting point is 01:12:11 be on the way home. It's probably the number one frozen lumpia in America. It's got to be. If Earl Stevens is behind it, I can't imagine that it wouldn't be. Anyway. Well, Steve A.G., it's always been it.
Starting point is 01:12:23 It's always a joy to see you. I'm so glad you guys reached out. It's always fun. I hope that folks will watch and enjoy you on television's The Peacemaker. Please. It's both seasons now streaming. It's a great show with John Cena
Starting point is 01:12:38 and Big Eagle. Big Eagle, Eagle. Angel Brooks, Robert Patrick. Tim Hennel. Tim Meadows. The great Tim Meadows. Tim Meadows. Tim Meadows so funny on the peacemaker.
Starting point is 01:12:51 Oh my God. That was a dream come true. Is it fun to learn the dance for the opening? I'm going to say, kind of. Okay. The show opens with a music video style dance number for the credits. Yeah. And it's fun when you know that it's going to be this amazing.
Starting point is 01:13:11 like opening credit sequence. Shooting it is a little stressful. Okay. Are there a lot of shots with a bunch of people on camera so you know that if you fuck up, you're fucking it up for everyone and everyone has to go back to the beginning? Yes. But they cover it well enough. So it's like, we're going to do these four bars and then cut in closer so we can,
Starting point is 01:13:33 if you fuck up. It's great. It's like part of the fun of it. And I never skip it. You always got to watch it. It's always fun to watch. The idea. It's like you can kind of tell that like the people here aren't dancers, but the joke of it isn't they're bad at dancing.
Starting point is 01:13:47 It's like, this looks cool, but these are not trained dancers. Anyway, I love the vibe of that. The great Carissa Barton was our choreographer. And when we were doing season one in Vancouver, Alan Tudek was shooting Resident Alien up there. And Alan is married to Carissa. Oh. And so Alan was John Cena stand in when we... When we were rehearsing the dance number.
Starting point is 01:14:14 Jordan, you say not everybody is a trained, everybody's not a trained dancer. I mean, Steve's not a trained dancer. Some of the cast members are trained dancers. I mean, Paula Abdul's on the show. You know how I do, Paul Abdul. Rosie Perez is on the show. Yes.
Starting point is 01:14:31 Mikhail Barishnikov is on the show. You're right. I forget it. Michael Barishnikov. Yeah, that's the three. It's John Sina, Paula Abdul. Gregory Hines. The great
Starting point is 01:14:41 The great Debbie Allen Sammy Davis Gene Kelly The legend himself Mr. Gene Kelly Yeah
Starting point is 01:14:51 You know it's not a superhero show to me If it doesn't have A little bit Of the great Fred Astaire Sure He's great as the Adam Guy's a hofer
