Starting point is 00:00:00 Give a little time for the child within you. Don't be afraid to be young and free. Under the locks and throw away the keys and take off your shoes and sucks and run you. It's Jordan Jesse Go. I am Jesse Thorne, America's Radio Sweetheart. Jordan Morris Boy, Detective. Hey, Jordan, here's to you. Yes.
Starting point is 00:00:20 Skittles' Lime Drink. Hey, if you're out there on the Jordan Jesse Go social pages, and I know that you are because you love content. Yeah. Maybe you saw the try hard guys video. I actually just got the demographic research back. Oh, great. Our core demo is nasty content pigs. Ooh.
Starting point is 00:00:41 Oink, oink. We're filling your trough with sloppy content. Yeah. Anyway, we make this hit internet show called the try hard guys. Uh-huh. It's something totally original and not inspired by anything. No, it's definitely like the format of it is something that we thought of and only we have ever done. It's where we taste weird foods and say if they're good. And I went to the dollar
Starting point is 00:01:06 store. Well, what happened is I went to the, I went to 7-Eleven with my children to buy a slurpy. Fun. It was fun. And you know what? It was a good replacement for the fact that the Warhammer store was unexpectedly closed due to a holiday. Oh. We're going to the Warham. We're doing this on 4th of July weekend. I would have not. But yeah, I mean, you know. It's just how it works out sometimes. I mean, those space marines, they salute the flag, just like Earth Marines. Like, grandfather was a space marine. But we went to the 7-Eleven to get slurpees. Right.
Starting point is 00:01:40 My kids have only just discovered that you can mix different kinds of slurpee together, which was huge for them, extraordinary for them. And there's a radio station. Because they were just like, I can pull one of these cranks, right? Yeah. And you're like, no, no. Take it from... Take it from dad in his college days.
Starting point is 00:01:58 You can yank as many as many as you want. You can yank as many cranks as you like. What are the, and I hate to, I hate to keep, you know, going down tangent lane here. Yeah. What's a modern slurpy machine have? I haven't had a flurping. Okay, so there's a cola. Cola.
Starting point is 00:02:14 There's two Jurassic Park flavors. Coca? Yeah, it's Coca. There's two Jurassic Park flavors, red and blue. Uh-huh. There is an Orchata. Okay. And I want to say a pineapple.
Starting point is 00:02:26 Ooh, okay. Yeah, it's fun. They mixed Coke with Blue. Great. Which was called like Jurassic Adventure Blue. Blue Adventure, something like that. Anyway, they got this radio station inside the 7-Eleven. Okay.
Starting point is 00:02:39 And the radio station has a segment about how great Dr. Pepper coconut cream is. Okay. And I said to myself, I'm going to buy that for the Trihard guys. Okay. So I bought it for the Try Hard Guys. America needs to know. And our content only airs in America, by the way. I should mention.
Starting point is 00:02:57 Yeah, well. We've applied a VPN. The thing is we sell the rights to the foreign territories to finance the production. Right, of course. And then everything else is gravy for us. I was saying that, you know, the coconut cream flavor is one of those, you know, one of those hot food trends you're seeing everywhere. You know, here comes Ube. Sorry, Saracha.
Starting point is 00:03:17 You know, it's, here's the new thing. And it's great. I love it, yeah. I mean, people... I think I like all food trends, though. Now that I'm, like, thinking about it, I'm like, yeah, I get excited about a cronet, red velvet, any kind of cringy, overused food trend?
Starting point is 00:03:31 Ooh, yum. So I... Can you put serratia on a cronet? That'd be epic, bro. I bought those Dr. Pepper's, and I also bought a cream soda, Dr. Pepper. But then my other child, the one who didn't go to the 7-Eleven, she wanted to shoot content with me.
Starting point is 00:03:45 Okay. So I recorded content... Cats in the cradle of the silver spoon. So I recorded the content with my oldest, Gracie. When you're making reels, dad, I don't know. win. And then I was like, oh, I got to get something for me and Jordan to do try hard guys with.
Starting point is 00:04:03 So Gracie and I went to the dollar store and among the items we purchased was Skittles drink. Skittles drink. We also got Firecracker flavored Sunny D. And Fago cotton candy. Yes. So watch for those on socials. Check, yeah. Keep your eyes peeled for socials.
Starting point is 00:04:22 But spoiler alert, I liked the green Skittles drink enough. Yeah, you got a frosty mug. Ooh, that sips good, baby. That sips good. I'm glad that I mentioned, I'm glad Grace came up here because I have something that I would like to, obviously. Now, Grace said, this is a local child, right? Yeah, this is a little. This is a child that lives in my house.
Starting point is 00:04:48 Okay. And I think a lot of people know Jordan and me as podcasters, of course. And Jordan, I don't know if you know, but I'm in the podcasting Hall of Fame. Yep. You mention it. However, we are, I would say our roots are in the theater. Right, yes. I kind of like, to me.
Starting point is 00:05:07 The boards, I call them. To me, I love to tread boards. It, that, anyway, whatever. I'm constantly treading boards. Love to tread. Love to trod. Do you ever tread boards, brough? Oh, you know it, dude.
Starting point is 00:05:20 Oh, I like to bust out of sweet soliloquite. Anyway. Oh, bro, you should hear my soliloquite. Anyway, I happened to have a text message conversation with my daughter, Grace. Yes. And it was about tonight's guest who's going to appear on the program. Amazing. And so I thought that we would reenact it.
Starting point is 00:05:43 That sounds like a lot of fun. And Jordan, since you're the younger of the two of us, I thought you could play Grace. He was 14. I had kind of a childlike joie de vivre as well. Exactly. works great. And I will play Jesse, the dad. The dad.
Starting point is 00:05:58 So my speech bubbles here will be in blue and yours in gray for anyone who's transcribing at home and wants to keep them color-coded. You ready, Jordan? The context on this, Jordan, is that in first grade, my daughter had a favorite Disney Channel movie. Okay. That's all. That's all I need to say. Okay. Oh, M.G.
Starting point is 00:06:24 No, this is you? Yeah. texting your kid, OMG. Yeah. All right. Okay. We'll start again. Okay.
Starting point is 00:06:33 OMG. What? Our guest tonight, Kimmy, told us she wanted to come on because she wants to plug a movie she directed. And I just looked it up. It's the new Descendants, Descendants' Wicked Wonderland. Oh, my God. I know that they did another one a couple of years ago, but I didn't know they were doing a fifth now. I knew she was directing stuff lately, but mostly.
Starting point is 00:06:52 TV. What does she think she'll gain by plugging a Disney Channel movie on your show for adults? It's a great question. Doesn't seem like a lot of target audience overlap. I mean, there are so many ways to be wicked. Our adults could hear the podcast and want to check the movie out. Maybe Kimmy just wants to see us. Ask her she'll give you a part of the next one. You fit the world. You have that Disney Channel quality to you. Our guest on the program, a legend, a Jordan Jesse go legend. It's Kimmy Gatewood. She's the director of the new descendants film for the Disney Corporation. Oh, my God.
Starting point is 00:07:33 Did you like how I knew a descendants in reference when I said there's so many ways to be wicked? I'm so impressed. I'm sweating, guys. Yeah, what was the thought, Kimmy? When you're booking your podcast tour. Yeah, why did you come on our show? I don't know. Any reason to hang out.
Starting point is 00:07:51 There you go. That's the answer. What do I want to be talking about? It's mous. No. I want to be talking about cream and saracha. Yes, we have to talk about saracha. I'm going to be honest with you, Kim.
Starting point is 00:08:06 You know where you should have been sending your publicist? Go on. To the gulp network at 7-Eleven. Wait. That's the radio network at 7-Eleven. You should have gotten booked on gulp radio. Can we listen to gulp at home? I mean, I'd love to listen to gulp at home.
Starting point is 00:08:20 Do you think they'll clip us out? Is that what happens? If we talk about gulp enough, will we... Oh, you're listening to gulp. Keep it locked. Here's Bruno Mars, I bet. It's the tri-soft guys. Soft drinks, that is.
Starting point is 00:08:38 Oh, yeah. Beep-bib-bib-b-b-b-b-b-b-you. So, Kimmy, can I be in your movie? Yeah. Obviously, yes. The movie that's already been shot? Yeah. It's edited.
Starting point is 00:08:50 It comes out in a couple weeks, you know? Yeah, you could. I could see you, you'd be a cool, what character you think, like Winnie the Pooh or something's dad? Winnie the Pooh's dad? Yeah. Could you see that? Does Winnie the Pooh have a, so you're saying Winnie the Pooh's dad? Who's a different stuffed bear?
Starting point is 00:09:12 Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. I mean, listen, there's a kid who plays Robin Hood's son in this, and Robin Hood's a fox. Uh-huh. The rules are. You know what I mean? Yeah, I mean, I don't be Winnie to Poo's dad. Fuck it. Sounds like a great.
Starting point is 00:09:28 It sounds like a very juicy role. It is a fun game to play. If you could be the descendant of a Disney character or whatever, what would you be? Oh, good question. I would be, oh, boy. I would probably be the dad from 101 Dalmatian's brother who's a little more responsible. Right. Got a nice.
Starting point is 00:09:51 Listen, the six movie has not been written yet, so... This is good. I would be... Let's see, Disney movies. What are they? I would be... I would be the monkey from Aladdin's ex-wife. That work?
Starting point is 00:10:11 Where's my alimony? Where is it? I'd be like kind of a, you know, broad ex-wife. I'd be... I like... Gilbert Godfrey. more exhausting siblings. Also from Aladdin.
Starting point is 00:10:25 Two extra. Very extra. That's also from the movie Aladdin. You have a kid who's kind of in the pocket for these movies, right? She's 11. Does she think it's really cool that you know of all of her. I mean, like, I feel like... And these are, for people who are not in this world,
Starting point is 00:10:45 everyone listening. These are musical extravaganzas regarding the... teen to tween children of iconic Disney characters. Correct. And the colorful world they inhabit. Where sometimes good guys are bad guys, bad guys are good guys, and romance can happen anywhere. Oh, my God. Will you come on tour with me?
Starting point is 00:11:08 Yeah, well, you've got to bring me on tour. I'm going to be in this next movie. And they do have a tour now. Oh, that's perfect. Yeah. But your daughter was stoked. Oh, yeah. She was nine when I started this film. So I was been working for like two years now because they're pretty big epics, if you will.
Starting point is 00:11:25 Right. Yeah, she was, she was absolutely pumped and I got to bring her on set with me. And so the things I basically get to, I do, I try to do at this point, something for her and then something for myself. And so I've done. One for mommy? Yeah. One for mommy. I did Sesame Street when she was four.
Starting point is 00:11:45 I did The Muppets when she was like six. And then I did this movie when she was nine. And so I don't know, guys. Should I stop here? This is enough for her. No, yeah. Because then it gets too sexy afterwards. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:11:58 Then now you're going to reboot the Red Shoe Diaries. That's the one for Mommy. Reboot taxi cab confessions. I mean, these are like, Jordan, I don't know if you ever seen any of them. I've seen a few of them. I have not. Plus I've seen zombies, right? That's the other one.
Starting point is 00:12:15 Heck yeah. I've seen, I think, two zombies. zombies and two descendants, I'm going to say, roughly, maybe even three descendants. These are genuine extravaganzas. Yeah. Like the amount of extravaganzas that they pack into a film that is being made for the Disney Plus streaming platform and the Disney Channel. Like it is like the equivalent of Game of Thrones for that venue. Like it is like.
Starting point is 00:12:46 Like it's clearly somebody's like, whatever it takes. You know what I mean? I've definitely heard the premise a lot. It's one of those premises where you go, fuck that's good. Fuck, that's good. Every time someone explains me, oh, my kid's watching this thing,
Starting point is 00:12:59 Descendants. And I'm like, God, that's a good premise. I mean, it's like, the crazy thing about working for Disney is, like, it's every iconic movie you've ever watched and, like, you know, and grown up on. And, like, this is a mashup of all of them.
Starting point is 00:13:14 So, like, the first musical I ever saw, Did you ever see Into the Woods, the classic Into the Woods? Kimmy. Kimmy. I was in Into the Woods. Okay. Okay. Go on.
Starting point is 00:13:26 Kimmy. I'm James Corden. Am I in the right place? This is downtown Los Angeles. Yeah. I was in it in high school. And I do love it. I do love Into the Woods.
Starting point is 00:13:40 It's really terrific. Yeah. It was like the first big musical I ever saw and I feel like it's like followed me. And it feels very much like that. Like if, you know, you could just fan fiction every favorite thing in the world. And this particular movie, for those who don't know, which is probably everybody, but it takes place in Wonderland. So the kids, it's my descendants, Disney version of like Goonies, essentially, all this new ensemble that we built.
Starting point is 00:14:08 And they go on this adventure in Wonderland and sing and dance and fall in love and fight. What's the most extravagant extravaganza that you've driven? Oh, we got the trailer playing on the big screen, thanks to Christian. Thanks, Christian. The opening number was pretty epic. It was like 15 locations, 250 dancers, and like I worked with Brandi and Rita ORA. They're both in the film. So this is a film.
Starting point is 00:14:39 Yeah. I didn't know. And then we did this big chest number sequence that's going to be. be out in probably a couple days. And we built this gigantic chessboard with these big chest pieces, giant flowers. And I feel like a real nerd for talking about musical theater. But it was real fun to make. What I want to know is, did you have to travel the nation looking for talented children?
Starting point is 00:15:06 They came to me. I didn't have to travel anywhere. Okay. But... Can he built a gingerbread house. It just waited. I had a stove. You don't know what the bad ones were.
Starting point is 00:15:19 Right. I rented a condo in Fort Lauderdale. The meat rolled in. Yeah, we, I mean, a lot of these kids, like the two main characters, Red and Chloe, they were in the last movie. But the majority of the cast was the first time doing anything. The thing is, is there's been a lot of these films. So, like, as the kids who star in these films, get older, eventually they're sent to the
Starting point is 00:15:48 abattoir. Because the meat just gets too gaming. Gaming, yes, yes. Because they exercise so much. All that dancing. All that dancing. All that huffin makes your stringy. What are you looking for when you're watching these 14-year-olds singing dance?
Starting point is 00:16:08 Jesus Christ. It's not anything inappropriate. I'm just saying, like, what are the qualities? Like, obviously execute the steps or whatever. But, like, what is an example of a surprising quality that's struck? Well, number one, they have to be fantastic dancers because this is a song and dance film. And I think... You don't have to explain that to me.
Starting point is 00:16:29 I'm James Gordon. So, James. Don't you dare talk to me that way. Okay, sorry, sorry, Mr. I'm not leaving a tip. I'm famously nice. Everyone says it. Easy to work with.
Starting point is 00:16:45 And I sound like this. Lobe, Waterdale for me. What I'm looking for kids is, look. I'm the new karaoke with the dough in my car. I am not a crook. I'm James Gordon. And he directs it too.
Starting point is 00:17:10 He directs it too. You're also direct? Okay. Okay. But I think the funny thing is, is like, looking for, you're looking for villain kids and hero kids, and that the quality of looking for, like, a villain kid is kind of a funny thing because you're looking for kind of a dark personality. So you're just, like, looking for, like, mini Aubrey Plaza's or, like, mini Jenna Ortega's, like, everywhere who just, like, have this thing.
Starting point is 00:17:34 Bring me your darkest child. Which child has the darkness within? What are your tattoos? child. But yeah, it's a, it is a, it's a funny thing to like, because they need to be able to sing and dance and act and also be able to deliver a joke. You were saying that you shot this film in Canada.
Starting point is 00:17:58 Yeah. How did you like being in Canada for years and years? Yeah, years. Yeah, I mean, I've, I did, I've worked in Canada before. It's Vancouver, Canada. Oh, in British Columbia. Gorgeous. Indeed.
Starting point is 00:18:13 Just north. It was good, you know, like to our flight. David Graham lived there, you know. To our flights, like going to Phoenix, whatever. It's exactly the same. It's known as the Phoenix of the North. Right, yes. It's about two hours.
Starting point is 00:18:31 They call it the Great Hot North. Is that what they call Canada? Yeah, I think that's right. No, I, because I shot in Vancouver. and then Ireland. I was in for Going Dutch, and then I went back to Vancouver to shoot Descendants, then I went back to Ireland to shoot Going Dutch season two.
Starting point is 00:18:49 RIP got canceled. But coming back to America, it was a strange thing. Yeah. What are your top differences? Because I've been to Vancouver, British Columbia. This is the home of our sister program, Stop Podcasting yourself, which Jordan Jesse Go listeners,
Starting point is 00:19:05 if they're not already listening to, should be listening to because it's the greatest. I love to go to Vancouver, love to visit Dave and Graham, love to visit our friend Helen Zaltzman and her husband Martin. A lot of great things to do in... Now, what did you do with Martin while you were there? What did you and Martin get up to? You know, crossing bridges, suspension bridges instead.
Starting point is 00:19:27 Rainforest. I will say this. Yeah. That is as many great things as I've heard about Graham Clark's comedy shows at the Little Mountain Gallery. It is not the most distinctive place. Yeah. The mountains that surround it look pretty to me,
Starting point is 00:19:48 and sometimes someone has skis on the subway. Other than that, not the most distinctive. I, listen, you can go 30 minutes and be on the slopes. That's true. 30 minutes to the slopes. Yeah. You catch it? If in winter, pow powder.
Starting point is 00:20:03 Did you powder? Sure. Did you catch any moguls while you were there? Yeah, I got some moments. I got some sweet moguls, actually, when I was up there. I went snowshoeing for the first time. Got invited to go snowshoeing. By whom?
Starting point is 00:20:16 My post producer for Descendants, Wicked Wonderland. She invited me to go snowshoeing her one weekend. Now, what's that? I'm a really good interviewer. I just like, what's that? What are you talking about? You know, it's like, you know, when people put tennis rackets on their feet and then go walking up the mountains, it's like, you know, like a hundred version of tennis racquet on your feet.
Starting point is 00:20:39 Then you go walking up in the mountain. It just disperses your weight. And then you go walk up the mountain. It's like hiking in the snow. Okay. There's not like a way to score points. Yeah. Why would you do it, I guess, is my question.
Starting point is 00:20:52 So second question. Why would you do that? Because someone asked me, number one. Number two, I'd never done it. Uh-huh. And number three, that's the people of Vancouver are so outdoorsy and active. You just have to like keep a. Right.
Starting point is 00:21:09 Honestly, when she asked, I was like, I don't know if I'm going to go. It sounds bad. I mean, regular hiking isn't the greatest. How dare you? Wonderful. At least it's invigorating to be in nature. At least you can wear shoe shoes, like land shoes. You know what I mean?
Starting point is 00:21:32 It's a, I did get a large blister on my ankle from the, snow shoes. At the end of the day, you go in snowshoeing again if somebody, if a nice post-production supervisor, yeah. Okay. I'll go. What was the highlight of this snow-shoeing trip? We started going uphill and she put, there's a thing in snowshoes where you put a little
Starting point is 00:21:53 thing on the bottom of your heel, like clicks up. So it feels like you're wearing a high heel. So when you're going up like a hill, it's just like your little, you put on your little high heel and then you tiptoe up the mountain. That sounds nice. Like it's like a staircase. Tip toe with heels, like with your heels like this? Oh, like on your toes.
Starting point is 00:22:11 Tip toe, not tip heel. Oh, I see. Like it's like you're going upstairs. So it keeps your, it keeps your foot more parallel to the center of the earth or whatever when you're going up a hill like this. Yeah. Okay. Because their heel point goes down and that hits the ground and then your foot is flat and your toe hits the ground because there's a slope. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:22:32 Makes a triangle. When we were going to go up hill, I was like, oh no, here we go uphill. And she goes, wait a minute. She pulls out a red button and presses it. And she goes, eh? And her neck extends. Oh, no, wrong button. She's like an inspector gadget kind of thing.
Starting point is 00:22:53 Like a keyman villain meckenneck was Canadian. Mossman also Canadian. Oh, wow. Okay. That's why he had that distinctive smell. Oh, it's a Canadian smell. I didn't know that about Moss Man. That's true, about Moss Man.
Starting point is 00:23:05 Is that like lime skittles? Yeah, it's sort of a lime skittal kind of smells. Yes. What? Did you do any other outdoor activities while you were in Vancouver? I didn't get out much when I was filming. Because you were directing a future film? Yes.
Starting point is 00:23:20 Yes. With 250 extras in every single scene. Every single scene, right? Every single scene. Guys, start milking that cow. What cow? Kimmy, there's no cows in the living room. Well, I didn't post.
Starting point is 00:23:33 Just grab a fake teeth. Just imagine a teat. Andy's circus will play the cow. Teenagers, imagine cheat. Ma'am, please leave. Me? I'm directing. This means something is my art.
Starting point is 00:23:59 No, I feel like I, Vancouver has a lot of great restaurants now. Yes. So did a lot of that. And a lot of great ice cream is that. Did you intersect with any other things that were producing episodes in Vancouver? Did you like run into anyone from, I guess, Battlestar Galactico? This is the example that comes to mine. Did you know how time to reboot that, right?
Starting point is 00:24:24 A funny thing was is that the show L, you know, with June Dian-Refield's in it as well. Oh, this is the Leel Lele Blonde show. They were shooting at the same time as us. And so I knew the DP. and a production designer and we were suddenly like, there's a crisis of pink fabric because one of our characters is named pink and so she only wears pink.
Starting point is 00:24:47 And we were like, oh no, all the pink fabric is suddenly disappeared because it all went to L. So that was a fun, that was a fun crisis. So you had to sneak over in the middle of the night, steal all the dresses. From the rich kid camp.
Starting point is 00:25:02 Which is where they were shooting. Which is probably, yeah. So you guys were the scrappy underdog movie. And they were the rich kid's streaming service show. We're going to have to mix red and white again. Oh, no. I got to stir this big bowl of paint. Did you get to do a lot of local casting?
Starting point is 00:25:21 I did some of the castes local casting. And they're incredible. But there wasn't a lot of extra like part. It was like the main kids and then the dancers. And then there was like this one woman who played a footwoman, which I was like, if I wasn't so busy, that would have been my part, you know what I mean? But like, she was so funny. Like, we found the funniest person.
Starting point is 00:25:46 I'm a footman, so I've been trying to meet a foot woman for a long time. So what is the, because you, you know, you got started on the stage. We did UCB stuff together. Your sketches and improv. What is the protocol for, I'm a. director and I want to have a little part in the movie. Like, do you just tell them you're going to do it or what's
Starting point is 00:26:11 the process? Is it the same guy you tell about casting, Jesse? Yes. Well, this is happening. The search for poo's dad is over. It's funny, I'm always like, I mean, I could just do it. I'm just here. I could just do it. I did that in
Starting point is 00:26:30 Babysitters Club. Oh, what were you in babysitters club? I was Stacy's teacher. I played Mrs. Coveck, and I was like, I mean, I could just do it. You can just do it. There's no question we should just do it. Branagh just does it. Nobody tells Branon not to just do it.
Starting point is 00:26:47 I just watch an entire Star Wars movie where the best part was Martin Scorsese. I did like Martin Scorsese in that movie. You can just do it. He's a little sandwich monkey. He was another director who cast. No, but I mean, you know. Yeah. You don't think Martin Scorsese went up to John Favreau or whatever and was just like, hey, you need to do your sandwich monkey.
Starting point is 00:27:12 Make me a little sandwich monkey. They'll need a sandwich monkey. Holy cow, Marty, you're here with us. Yeah, of course, I've been looking to act for a year. Why didn't you cast yourself? You didn't have the guts? I correct a little bit, but also there's rules about like amount of Canadians you need to cast. and when you're shooting in Canada.
Starting point is 00:27:35 CanCon. Did you have to book Canadian hip hop dancers? Yes. I'm not, look. Bring me the funniest people in Regina. Listen, we came in. Bring me the flyest girls of Saskatoon. By the way, if you have a funky Regina, talk to your OBGYN.
Starting point is 00:27:59 Talk to your OBGYN. We came in like just hot, like just post-strand. right? Because when we started, so we had our pick of the litter in terms of like cast and dancers and stuff. People are like, oh God, I need to work. Everyone who otherwise would have been on tour with snow doing informer. Yes. Dances to informer. Canadians, Canada's most famous musician.
Starting point is 00:28:24 Okay, hold on. Listen, I need to get back to snow. He wants me to go on tour with him. Let me answer some emails. Cardinal O'Fishel? Yes. Probably should have said cardinalo official. Cardi slang.
Starting point is 00:28:37 Yes. Yes. Let's take a break. That's kind of what I was getting at. We'll be back in just a second on Jordan, Jessica. Hey, listener, Jordan here with a couple of additional bonus plugs. On July 19th, I'm going to be signing books at Comic Quest in Lake Forest, California. Now, this was my childhood comic bookstore, so it's very very.
Starting point is 00:29:11 cool to be doing an actual signing there. Come on out between noon and five, get some signed books. It'd be great to see you. I will also be at San Diego Comic-Con on July 24th and 25th, doing a variety of panels and signings. Check out my Instagram or my blue sky for all the times and places, or just search my name on the official Comic-Con schedule. I'm going to have some Maxfund buttons and stickers that I'll hand out to you if you're a listener of the pod. So come get those while supplies last. Okay. Back to the show. La La La La La La La La La La La La La La La La La La La La La La La La La La La La La La La La La La La La La La La La La La La La La La La La La Laugh.
Starting point is 00:29:59 It's Radio Sweetheart. Jordan Morris Boy Detective. Kimmy Gatewood, descendant of the Lyme Skittled Drink. At what point are you just like introducing characters that are related to like Sherlock Holmes the Mouse and like the borrowers? Wait, the rescuers. Rescurers, characters, the rescuers. What I wouldn't give to have a rescuers descendant.
Starting point is 00:30:26 Come on. The thing about it is this audience can handle this information. But like there's a lot of legalities when it comes to dealing with like what characters you can kind of bring on screen. So like, you will pitch a thousand different characters and you can't always, you know. You don't have the rights to the mighty ducks. No, no, no, no, no.
Starting point is 00:30:51 You know. Yeah, no. Right. You have the... Oh, sorry. Halliburton now owns the Emperor's New Groove. You can't have the Lama from the Emperor's New Groves. We do have the rights to the misbegotten spawn of Leah Thompson
Starting point is 00:31:07 and Howard the Dunders. duck. Technically a Marvel character. So you kind of have to definitely think out outside of the box, dig deep and like, but also like think about what came out because there's been a hundred different movies that came out. I think that like I think that the fact that it is the Disney Corporation
Starting point is 00:31:31 is a good indicator of the sort of breadth of possibility because you don't It's not just, you know, Aladdin or whatever. You also have the rights to all of the Touchstone films. Okay, so, basic instinct. Scrolling. The kid of Sharon Stone and basic instinct. I don't know if that's such.
Starting point is 00:31:57 It might be. So the color of money, for example. Right. Okay. So it could be Paul Newman's son, which maybe was Tom Cruise, or maybe they had as just sort of a father's son type relationship. Maybe you could be the son of the billiard ball. Tin men.
Starting point is 00:32:11 Here look at this. Ernest. Lil Ernest. Little Ernest. I like it. Adventures in babysitting. Vern. We could finally meet Vern.
Starting point is 00:32:23 Oh, yeah. That'd be fun. Young Vern. Beaches. The answer is beaches. All the characters, the children of each of the characters from beaches. And titsling, right? No.
Starting point is 00:32:35 No. Bet Midler's kid, Barbara Hershey's kid. So many great kids. Dead poets. Oh, you could, Turner and Hooch. I'm just enjoying looking at this list of Touchstone films. The adult wing of Disney Pictures. I got to set a few meetings at Disney, y'all.
Starting point is 00:32:55 Sure. Hello, Mickey. When's good for you? Green card starring Gerard de Padu. This week's a little crazy, Kimmy. Can we circle back at the end of the fiscal year? Mickey, no. It needs to happen now. It's hot. We need to strike.
Starting point is 00:33:13 The kids are only getting older, Mickey. We're busy making a Disney plus prequel about the Martin Scorsese sandwich monkey. Are you taking pitches? I would love to pitch on that. No, sorry, Diaphaelho Cody has it wrapped up. Pia Apollo again. She did a great voicy draft. So voicing.
Starting point is 00:33:33 All of my pitches for Descendants 6 are all based on the descendants of the characters from the old lady dromody classic Strangers in Good Company. What is that movie?
Starting point is 00:33:48 It's a beautiful film about some old ladies that get stranded on it while they're on a trip together. All the strangers in good company heads out there fucking losing their shit that I brought up. Oh, he said it. Dude, that reference! I can't believe what he referenced.
Starting point is 00:34:03 I've been waiting for 15 years for him to bring up strangers in good company. That reference. How many calls are we going to get about this, you guys? That's right. We do have some calls to take. Will they be about strangers in good company?
Starting point is 00:34:14 We don't know. Some people have called us at 206-9844 Fun, and I believe... Do you think they made the movie... Do you think they made the movie Kazam? Planning for it to be a Disney movie, but it was so bad they didn't want to ruin the Disney brand and just were like, make it a touchstone movie.
Starting point is 00:34:34 Keep the Disney logo. away from it. Wait, what was the, is the, is the, was it, was it Shazam or Kazan? So we've stumbled into the world of the Mandela effects we have. So Kazam is a real one. Okay. Where, and Jesse, you've seen this movie because of your daughter's interest in cult movies. I have.
Starting point is 00:34:56 I have not seen it. What's funny about it is it sucks ass. Shack plays a genie. Shack plays a genie. Shack plays a genie and Kazam. It does truly suck ass. However, you're, you, I mean, we all know this now because he's been a celebrity charmer at this point longer than he was a legendary basketball player. A celebrity charmer.
Starting point is 00:35:22 That's the premise of the movie. Friends to the general. But it is genuinely impressive how charming Shaq is for a guy who has no idea how to be in a movie. Like he cannot act, he can't do anything. He's a bad rapper, even though that's the thing he thought he could do. Like, he's truly, he's truly has no talent per se. However, he is genuinely fun and charming to watch be in a movie. But Kazam is the Mandela effect thing that people-
Starting point is 00:35:56 Shazam. Excuse me, Shazam. Yes, there you go. That's the one people think they remember. With Sinbad? I think, yes. There's a version, yes, they think Simbad was in Shazam. Okay, but it was Kazan.
Starting point is 00:36:09 Kazam with Shaq. So there you go. Dang. And it's sex in the city. I mean, I think it would be, in the city. I think it would be pretty. That sex on the city. Not sex on the city.
Starting point is 00:36:21 Not sex with the city. Believe me, I've tried. What of it. Kimmy, I think it would be pretty easy to pitch the descendants of Nicholas Cage and John Travolta from Faceoff. Oh, shit. Disney definitely still owns that shit. Jordan, get on the script, okay? Guys, I took my dad's face.
Starting point is 00:36:43 I took my dad's face. We both look like our dads. We both act a lot. Let's dance. Let's jump to the side and fire guns while doves fly around. I mean, what's great. John Wu will still direct this, right? No, Kimmy.
Starting point is 00:36:57 Okay, sorry, Jimmy will direct it in the style of John. In the style of John. Okay, yeah. I mean, I think the good news about this, plan is you had to spend like a year and a half or whatever casting talented 14 and 16 year olds. Yes. And because of the face off premise, because they each took their dad's face, all you have to do is bring in two of the greatest show business pros of all time, Nicholas Cage and John Travolta. They both look great and not insane at all.
Starting point is 00:37:29 Both are still very active. Very active. Very active. You think John Travolta can't outdats these teens? Oh, he can outdance him. I can't speak for Cage, but I think Travolta can still outdance these teens. I mean, Cage has got some moves, right? Does Cage have moves?
Starting point is 00:37:45 He was Spider-Man, right? Yeah, I don't think Cage has professional moves, but I think he has enthusiasm. And not one of the traits that I was looking for with this time. It would have to be his Elvis impression. Oh, that's right. He likes to be Elvis. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Okay, anyway,
Starting point is 00:38:03 called. Jordan, something important happened. When we had Al Madrigal on our program, you issued a call to action, which is to call in and let us know how wet you are. Right. Now, why did I do this? I don't know.
Starting point is 00:38:18 I don't remember. We don't listen to this show. No. We have good shows to listen to. I have XM satellite radio for a couple more weeks in my new car. I have Ozzy's Boneyard to listen to. You're trying to listen to Dave. Polms share facts about alternative rock.
Starting point is 00:38:34 I love it when he does that. He probably didn't even have to look him up. He knows everything. He probably didn't even have to look. He's a really smart guy who knows a lot. It's great. Didn't have to scroll through touchstone pictures? No, no, this guy's nose.
Starting point is 00:38:47 This guy knows the touchdown. Jordan, I don't listen to podcasts. No. I listen to gulp radio. Gulp in the car. Gulp in the city? Oh, gulp in the shirt. It's called and the city.
Starting point is 00:39:03 Damn it. And the city. Okay, let's hear. Somebody called in to give us an update on how wet they were. Hey, Jordan, Jesse, and I'm going to guess Eliza Skinner. This is Cassany in Central Georgia, and I am calling to respond to Jordan's request for listeners to tell you guys how wet we are. And I just have to say that I am the wettest I have ever been in my entire life. I was listening to your episode with Al Madrigal in the shower, and I just stepped out.
Starting point is 00:39:33 And I moved to Georgia this week, so I'm living in like a hundred degrees soupy miasma after spending my whole life in Michigan. Anyway, I love the show. I've been listening since middle school and I just graduated college after taking an extra fifth year. Love you guys. Bye-bye. Love you, too. First of all, love you too. Second of all, shout out to taking a fifth year so you can clear that back catalog of Jordan, Jessica.
Starting point is 00:39:58 Absolutely. Hey, listen, our audience is basically composed of super seniors. There's a lot of people taking, there's so many people taking redshirt freshman years, so they get an extra year of eligibility so they can make it through all 20 years of Jordan Jesse. And I support it. I support it strongly. Now, how do I feel about middle schoolers listening to our program? Ambivalent. Concerns. Wait, what was the first time I was on the show?
Starting point is 00:40:26 How many years ago was that? Oh, I don't even know. Christian, can we dive into the archives and what was the first Gatewood episode? I'll start looking. 2015, 2016, maybe? And a lot of people say that, I mean, we had started the show before that. We knew that middle schooler. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:40:41 I mean, I have a, somewhere in the shelf in my office, I got an Apple Sisters LP. Oh, fun. When the Apple Sisters LP come out. Beep, beep, beep, beep, boop. Woof. Yeah, that was probably 2012, 2013, maybe. I believe Christian has. answer for us. First Gatewood episode.
Starting point is 00:40:59 Oh my God. Episode 262. Foxy Grandpa with Kimmy Gatewood, February 12th, 2013. Were we ever that young? One of the greatest, one of the greatest Jordan Jessica episodes of all time. Right? I don't think that's fair to say? The Foxy Grandpa episode. That's one that people
Starting point is 00:41:20 will stop me in the street to talk to me about. Remember when Kimmy Gatewood was on and you guys talked about the 1910's cartoon strip, newspaper cartoon strip, Foxy Grandpa, and the series of silent films that it spawned. Listen, the show's always been good. Well, we've always had our finger on the pulse. Yeah, we're not like, you know, Ted Lassau or we have a bad season. I haven't seen Ted Lasson.
Starting point is 00:41:46 What is that exactly? You know, let me call my mom and put her on speakerphone and I'll have her tell you about it. And then she'll put on my stepdad and he'll tell you about land ban. Guys, remember those? Where were those days? Twelve years ago? Where are those kids? We were so wet back there.
Starting point is 00:42:07 We were so wet. This is, but I think our caller is pointing out something really good and really valuable, which is he had a dual vector wetness. Right. That I think is so, so extraordinary because he had soaked himself. And I'll just say this. I don't know that much about Georgia, but I know that they're not going to let the federal government tell them how much water can come out of the shower. Thank you.
Starting point is 00:42:41 So you know they don't got flow regulators, okay? So first of all, he's taking a particularly wet shower. I was not prepared. I was in Nashville. It was not prepared for how blasted the shower. was going to make me. I like fell down. Here in Snowflake,
Starting point is 00:42:59 a fornia, we want to save the planet so the water dribbles out. Wait, do you just dribble every day? Oh yeah. You don't shout no more? No, I just get dribbled. I'm going to hop for the dribble, I'll say.
Starting point is 00:43:17 They don't shout no more. They don't show no more. So, that's the first vector of wetness. And I think he's correct in pointing out that he is also experiencing an environmental wetness. Right. So I think the only vector of wetness that we did not address in this call is what I'm going to call an inside out wetness. So that would be lugie hawking.
Starting point is 00:43:45 That would be crying. Crying. Ejaculation. All things you can do in the shower. So what I'm thinking is you got to get somewhere swampy. You were just in our nation's capital. I think that's a perfect example. Washington, D.C., the perfect place to be swampy.
Starting point is 00:44:04 I've been swampy there many times. And there was a thunderstorm. Exactly. So you get yourself good and nasty. Then you take the regulator out of your shower head. You blast yourself. Blast yourself Nashville style. People say that's when your chicken sandwich is really hot?
Starting point is 00:44:23 No, it's when you're getting. your skin peeled off by your shower. So then you get, you get the shower, you get blasted. Yeah. So now, so now you've got two wetness factors, right? You have environmental factor,
Starting point is 00:44:38 and you have the shower factor, right? Then you've got to activate some kind of inside out wet. Whatever it might be. Honestly, it doesn't, like, obviously people who are listening to this think that I'm going to suggest ejaculation. Right. And as much as I appreciate having a legacy.
Starting point is 00:44:59 Right. Yes. Gross. And as... Oh, here comes to legacy. And as much as I appreciate... Reminds me about 20s. Oh, boy.
Starting point is 00:45:11 2013, right? I want to emphasize... What else in middle school listening to the show? Yes, exactly. I want to emphasize that it really doesn't have to be ejaculation. For one thing, not everybody's body ejaculates. Of course. Whereas everybody's body can blow snot rockets.
Starting point is 00:45:28 Absolutely right. Everybody's body can hawk lungies. If you want to hawk a luggy or a lungi. Yeah, it depends on where you're from. You call a lungy or a luggy. Where's a lungy from? Ghostface killer. He calls it lungies.
Starting point is 00:45:44 He's from New York City. Okay. So it's like a hoagie kind of thing. Would you say? And you know what? Lungy, hoagie. You know what? Get yourself a hoagie or a grinder.
Starting point is 00:45:53 Surmarine sandwich. As well. Extra mail. That'll juice it up. That'll juice it up. Maybe you can get yourself a Mario sandwich. Right. Yes. With Mario sauce. That's an old thing we used to talk.
Starting point is 00:46:07 There's a restaurant in Ohio. A restaurant? Oh, no. Gosh, no. Not a tilted kilt or a hooters. Let me see if I can remember this. Is it a dickstron? How does it a cox drive?
Starting point is 00:46:22 Kimmy, just so you know. Just so you know, Jordan remembers this. He's just pretending he doesn't. Go ahead, Jordan. So there was a restaurant in Ohio called Warios. Okay. And on the menu, they had Wario sauce. So we joked about that for four years.
Starting point is 00:46:42 I think in the, I remember it being as like me, I was at the height of like book promo stuff, right? Yeah. So I'm out there. I'm out there shucking and josh. for the book, right? Pre-order the book? Pre-order the book? Yeah, this might have been bubble.
Starting point is 00:46:58 Pre-order the book, check it out. Come to my book event. I mean, you remember Jordan, chucking and jive, and then he was doing at the auditions for Descendants 5. Of course, I remember. Sure. Far too old.
Starting point is 00:47:08 Yeah, that's, I just appreciate the opportunity. And too cute. I appreciate the opportunity. If something comes up, let me know. There was too much sparkle. I was looking for a villain. Yeah, no, I get that. I get that.
Starting point is 00:47:18 And hey, but if, you know, if Prince Eric rolls an ankle, let me know. It's their cousin or whoever. Let me know. I'll slide in there. Wow, you're 40. I like that in our imagination of this, Jordan, it's not the children of the people now. It's like, it's like their second cousin.
Starting point is 00:47:42 Like it's like an inquest or something. Like they're trying to figure out who inherits the estate. They're making family trees. Anyway. I'm a neighbor. Book. Booking. What Jordan is trying to say is that we identified that if you're going to have
Starting point is 00:47:57 Wario sauce on the menu, you have to understand that sauce is a cummower. Sure. But as it relates to my... I thought this is going to go Mario Luigi or something. I thought this is going to go Super Mario brothers. Yeah. But I think it is kind. We consider it to be in the world of Super Mario.
Starting point is 00:48:16 Yeah. But as I'm doing, you know, just please someone check out this book. It doesn't take that much for a book to be successful. Just please check out the book. You'll like it, I promise. I wrote it. And so, you know, you put your soul into promoting these things. And sometimes it feels like people don't care.
Starting point is 00:48:34 They're not responding or they're not hearing you. And I feel like my timeline while I was doing that was just people going like, I went to the restaurant and got the sauce. We did a road trip to the restaurant and got the sauce. And I'm like, just no, I don't. Yay, good. I know. Can you buy it's 14 bucks?
Starting point is 00:48:52 Buy the book. I know. You and your family took a flight to get the Wario sauce to take a picture of it. Thank you. Can you just buy the, that's what I want you to do. I don't care if you tried the sauce. Jordan. Just keep flooding this restaurant.
Starting point is 00:49:06 Jordan. Yeah. First of all, Mario can handle flooding the restaurant. Yeah. It's wet after all. You're being 10 people at the restaurant that you don't get money from. Jordan. The last thing that I want to do is victim blame.
Starting point is 00:49:23 Of course. I'm anchoring down. I've read Bubble. Yeah. It's amazing. Thank you. It's incredible. It's at this point a little tough to finder.
Starting point is 00:49:34 Carlin by Sarah Morgan, of course. Geniuses both. And, you know, I'd send people to run out to buy it, but it's sold through its print run. You can still get it digitally. So please do. Grab it digitally. And encourage people to grab it digitally, borrow it from their local library. And yeah, Kimmy, you can listen to the podcast.
Starting point is 00:49:50 podcast. Yeah. That didn't sell 10 million copies. It didn't. Damn it. It did not. It lost $10,000. Just kidding.
Starting point is 00:50:03 More than that. It's odd. We all had a lot of fun. We did. We had a great time. I'm glad I did it. So how I started a restaurant is I directed Disney movies? Yes.
Starting point is 00:50:15 I'm trying to promote the Disney movie here. I'm trying to help Jordan work through something here, okay? And again, I'm not going to victim blame, but I have read Bubble. Yeah, thank you. And it's a beautiful book. It's very funny. Thank you. Very moving.
Starting point is 00:50:28 Incredible art by the great Tony Cliff. We're proud of. Canadian, noted Vancouver resident. Eisner nominated. Two. Dwight. However, as I think, as I think. Famous president.
Starting point is 00:50:41 Dwight D. Eisner. Yeah. I think, I'm thinking back to it. And I'm trying to remember the sauce parts There weren't a lot of sauce parts. So in a way,
Starting point is 00:50:56 it's sort of you that fucked up. Yeah. Like, you're blaming our audience, but it's you that forgot to put fucking sauce parts
Starting point is 00:51:06 in your book. So that people would take flights to eat it and then send you pictures of them eating it. You're right. You're right. You're right.
Starting point is 00:51:16 That future books will have more sauce. And then you and your buddies can all do a road trip and take a picture of the sauce book and go like, look, we did. And I'm like, cool, that's what I like. Jordan, if we had sauce in every project, we would be the dough boys. We would be so huge right now. I love to be the dough boys.
Starting point is 00:51:34 Okay. Here's a great secret. Oh, okay, you got a secret. Okay, show business secret. Descendants five. Incredible. For all the super fans of Jordan Jones. And a lot of people are saying, a lot of kids are saying there's no crossover between
Starting point is 00:51:48 are yeah there is um one scene if you look really hard it's just there's you have to look behind the mushroom there's it's filled with sacred sauce but seriously okay you guys have to all watch the movie from from the beginning right share screen caps share screen caps look for the sauce look for the sauce and remember you have to watch the full film is there is sauce is there sauce in the film wow You've learned from my mistakes. You know how to get people excited about a project. You have to say it involves sauce.
Starting point is 00:52:27 I need Gracie's approval. I think there is crossover with our audience and descendants. One, I think there's like just people who love a musical extravaganza. I think those people will enjoy it. That's true. People who have kids who are looking for something cool to watch with their kids. They've grown up. And I think there is a lot of crossover.
Starting point is 00:52:46 and I think if we just had on people who were promoting something that was one to one pertinent to our audience, we would just have on people who had Doctor Who Etsy stores. Yeah. Every week. It can't just be one to one.
Starting point is 00:53:04 I mean, sometimes it's like Doctor Who is meeting like a cute aunt, like a, like a cabby bar or something. Like Pikachu. Yeah, or Pikachu or, you know. And they're nice. I mean, there's nice stickers and stuff. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:53:19 We have another call? Yeah, I actually want to make an... Just because of the topic of... Wetness came up. I want to admit something. Kimmy... Oh, no. I now know that your film is Descendants' Wicked Wonderland.
Starting point is 00:53:39 I didn't know it was a Descendants film. I thought it was a desiccant's film. I thought that it was about those little packets of silica gel. Is that what those are called? They're called desiccants? Yeah. I didn't know they had a name. It was the opposite of wet.
Starting point is 00:53:54 It was super dry. Yes. Those are for drying. Okay. Well, I think, look, that makes sense. Let's take a call. Don't eat them. Don't eat them.
Starting point is 00:54:03 Don't eat them everybody. Hi, Jordan, Jesse, and guest. I'm going to go with my fantasy casting and say Judy Greer. This is ISIS. Yes, that's my. name. In Madison, Wisconsin, calling in for your famous segment, several little kisses. On my way home from work, I got onto a very crowded bus and had to stand. I was facing a woman sitting next to a small animal carrier, which was covered with a blanket, so I couldn't see what was in
Starting point is 00:54:32 the carrier, and with my AirPods in, I couldn't hear anything either. But eventually, the woman opened the door in the carrier and pulled out a pigeon. She stroked it and give it several little kisses on its beak, then put it back. Fuck ice, go U.S. men's soccer team. USA number one. Hooray for ISIS, hooray for Wisconsin. Hooray for pigeon kissing. This is the best news I've ever heard in my life.
Starting point is 00:55:02 That's really good. My high school girlfriend who had a sister named Isis. Really? Yeah. Gorgeous name. A beautiful name. Beautiful name. Maybe you can have the pigeon.
Starting point is 00:55:12 Maybe, you know, kiss the pigeon right because of germs? I don't know. I mean, what is your pigeon been? Huh? My pigeon's clean. Mine's filthy. This guy, my pigeon comes back. I don't know where he's been for two weeks.
Starting point is 00:55:25 Doesn't call. He says his phone's off. Jordan? Oh, no. My pigeon's not just clean. My pigeon's Nashville clean. Wow. Blasted with wet.
Starting point is 00:55:36 Blasted of wet pigeon. My pigeon has a cute little costume on it. It's right. I have an Etsy store. Our listeners want to hear about it. They want to hear about sauce. Do you make costumes for like
Starting point is 00:55:54 budgies or parakeets or just pigeons? Just pigeons because those budgies, their faces are too wild, you know? I agree their faces are too wild. I was just thinking these budgey's faces are too wild. Get out of here with that face.
Starting point is 00:56:10 And Gen Z needs to take climate change seriously. Yes. I'm agreeing with you. Budgie's faces are too wild. But you know what's fun to do? Put a budgie face on a pigeon. Put a little mask.
Starting point is 00:56:22 That would be cute. Really cute. Is it a pigeon? Is it a budgie? We don't know. Either way, I can jack off to it now. Oh, no. Hold on.
Starting point is 00:56:33 Hold on. What's going wrong? Oh, okay. Hold on. We're doing a show, right? We are doing a show. That's where you say things, isn't it? Yes, you do say things.
Starting point is 00:56:41 and we are saying them. Oh, no, I really want someone to have an Etsy store with pigeon costumes or bird costumes of some sort. There has to be. I bet, okay, let's do this. This is something we could question. I have a question.
Starting point is 00:56:54 I have an interview question for Kimmy Gatwood because she directed the new film Descendants colon, wicked wonderland. Wicked Wonderland. What is your... I mean, honestly, the truth is this, Jordan. Yeah. If our listeners watch Descendants Wicked Wonderland,
Starting point is 00:57:15 they're going to be like, well, that was pretty fun. Yeah. That was my reaction when I watched these movies with my child. I was like, that was pretty fun. Sure. I mean, you get a little upset that the people are so much more talented than you are. Sure, yeah, I don't know that everyone would feel that. I don't know that every single person feels bad.
Starting point is 00:57:31 You're like, where do you get off? You're like 15 or something. You're fucking already talented. However, it's mostly you're just like, man, it's pretty fun. Here's my question for you. What is your favorite made for television children's film? I will tell you it was a movie called Mr. Bugatti. And it came out.
Starting point is 00:57:55 And the Disney Channel probably Christian, tell me what year it was. But it came out and it was about a dad. It was basically like ghost dad, but it was Mr. Buggetty. And he would haunt everybody. He was. Bougainty, boogany boo! I mean, first of all, great catchphrase. He was the ghost of their dad, though?
Starting point is 00:58:19 This is what I remember. It was Mr. Buggetty, and he would just, like, haunt this family. And he would say boogity, boogany boo. And I swear I thought it was a, I don't know, a fever dream that I had had that didn't exist. Yes! Christian is playing the trailer. It exists! Hold on.
Starting point is 00:58:38 You say, Mr. Mr. Bugatti aired on the Disney channel, and we're looking for a premise for Descendant Six. I don't know. Just a fun, funky young Bugatti. There he is. He's zapping people to where their hair stand up. Classic gag. It's, you know what?
Starting point is 00:58:56 It's old-timey ghost haunting a family. Yes, this is okay. Have you tried to read it? Did you try, when your child was a true child? Yes, yes. I'm talking about two years or so ago, age nine. And did you try to revisit anything like that with them? Yeah, we did, we did Wayne's World, but not that.
Starting point is 00:59:19 Like recently, which you thought was funny, which is good. Thank God. When my kid thought Wayne's World was funny, I was so grateful. I was like, thank fucking God. And also when I thought, because I didn't see it in a long time, I was like, I hope I think this is funny. And I watched it and I was like, oh, no, this still fucking completely whips. So, yeah, that was a relief. Guess what my LLC is called? Huh.
Starting point is 00:59:43 Noah's Arcade. Just open my mouth and out it came. Bloop. Oh, my God. That's fantastic. I know. It's funny, though, the things you have to explain to your child when they're like, when he's doing foxy lady. Like, what is he doing? It's just a non sequitur. I don't think. A fun dance. A fun dance. Just imagine he's from Vancouver. A lot less threatening that way. Dance country. Yeah, my husband showed a monster squad, and that was when I was like, we got to turn this one off. It was a different time.
Starting point is 01:00:17 It was a different time. That was one. I have not seen that, but that's where we get the famous line. Wolfman's got nards, right? Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, that one, that one I was like, maybe that's not for this time of our lives anymore. And I was also, I haven't.
Starting point is 01:00:37 showed her Austin Powers at. I'm just going through like, you know, Mike Myers, uh, Oove. Austin Powers I watched with my kid and it's really funny. It's really fucking funny. Yeah. I know. I took her to see Shmigadoon in New York when we were in the East Coast. On Broadway, the Great Way way? On Broadway. And there's a part where they're doing like a parody of sound of music like Doa Deere, where they're talking about reproduction or whatever. And she would look to me as she goes, This is getting inappropriate. She was right. My daughter, I think, I don't, like somehow through,
Starting point is 01:01:17 my daughter goes through these things with YouTube's and researching things and stuff where she ends up in the cultural detritus of other generations. So usually it's Dana Gould. Usually it's just whatever Dana Gould would be into. Vincent Price movies, you know, exploitation, science fiction from 1960, like whatever, right? But at one point, I think it might have been through a very funny YouTuber called Danny Gonzalez. Okay.
Starting point is 01:01:52 She got obsessed with, Christian gave it a whoop. Book him on the show. Book Danny Gonzalez. Put him on the list. Okay. He's on it. he's very funny he's on it he's very funny um uh i think it might have been through that or some related path she got obsessed with this 90s disney channel movie called can of worms that funny
Starting point is 01:02:16 i didn't have cable when i was a kid so uh i i never watch any disney channel anything um we got it when i was like a teenager so i saw a little bit of mtv in the late 90s but that's about it and i watched this can of worms which she made us get her on vhs because you got so obsessed with it. I watched it and I was like, oh, this might actually be just regular good. I was like, this is actually pretty cool and funny. Cana worms, huh?
Starting point is 01:02:46 Yeah, can of worms. What is it about? It's about a kid who gets aliens come to visit him. Oh, I love it. He builds like a teleportation device. I thought you're going to say a bunch of little old ladies. There's some little old ladies in there. It's about these drag queens in there.
Starting point is 01:03:03 traveling on a bus through the Australian outback. I think they got ripped off. Yeah. No. It's funny, like, because there are, like, I'm finding out about Disney Channel movie fans specifically. Like, it's not, there's the Disney fans as Disney Channel fans, which are like the TV shows. The Disney Channel movie fans are a real thing. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:03:27 No, it's a very, very intense culture. Mm-hmm. Yep. I can't wait to meet every single one of you. Yes. Well, they're all listening to this show. They're all listening. So you're in the right place.
Starting point is 01:03:38 206-9844-fund or just send your voice memos to JJGo at maximum fun.org. Look at those funpunpuppets. Oh, yeah. The most fun, funny puppets. Oh, my gosh. Yeah, JJGo at maximum fun.org. What do we got? We've got number one, momentous occasions.
Starting point is 01:03:55 Yep. Number two, how wet are you right now? How wet are you right now? I still want to hear from spouses and partners who don't like the show. Yeah, we're looking for feedback from spouses and partners of listeners. If you're one of the many spouses or partners who can't bear the sound of our voice or simply don't care for us for whatever reason, give us a call, give us some feedback. We'd love to learn.
Starting point is 01:04:20 What do you got to dress your bird like? What's your bird dressed like right now? And Christian, can we do, after we come back, can we get an update as to whether or not we can get bird clothes on Etsy? I will look into it. Thank you. I also wanted to say a shout out to the people who have actually sent ham picks. There was a call for ham picks. Ham picks.
Starting point is 01:04:40 Ham picks to the JJGo Gmail. I saw someone on the Maximum Fun subreddit at R slash Maximum Fun and posted a nice wet ham. Okay. Okay. Well, that's a double whammy. A double hammy? Anyway, double hammy. Christian called the episode that.
Starting point is 01:04:58 Now that you guys have video, I can do things like this. Can we just get some... Wow. Okay, let's take that break and then we'll come back in Price Bird Close. We'll be back in just a second on Jordan, Jesse. La La. La. All right, we're over 70 episodes into our show.
Starting point is 01:05:21 Let's learn everything. So let's do a quick progress tech. Have we learned about quantum physics? Yes, episode 59. We haven't learned about the history of gossip yet, have we? we have same episode actually. Have we talked to Tom Scott about his love of roller coasters? Episode 64.
Starting point is 01:05:37 So how close are we to learning everything? Bad news. We still haven't learned everything yet. Oh, we're ruined! No, no, no, it's good news as well. There is still a lot to learn. Woo! I'm Dr. Ella Hubber.
Starting point is 01:05:52 I'm regular Tom Lum. I'm Caroline Roper, and on Let's Learn Everything, we learn about science and a bit of everything else, too. And although we haven't learned everything yet, I've got a pretty good feeling. about this next episode. Join us every other Thursday on Maximum Fun. If you want to know what's going on in the world of movies, you should be listening to maximum film so we can tell you all about it. Okay, but what if you already know what's going
Starting point is 01:06:13 on in the world of movies? What if you're kind of obsessed with movies? Like, maybe you have a problem? Well, then you should definitely be listening to Maximum Film, because we too have that problem and it's important you know you're not alone. We're talking indies you'll want to seek out. Blockbusters and blockbusting wannabes. Classics we can't get enough of. I'm comedian and writer Kevin Avery. I'm film critic Alonzo Duraldi. I'm festival programmer and producer Drea Clark. Together, we're Maximum Film. Smart about movies in Hollywood, so you don't have to be. But if you already are, that's also great. And hey, we see you. New episodes every week on maximum fun.org. La La La La La. It's Jordan Jesse Go. I'm Jesse Thorne America's radio
Starting point is 01:06:57 sweetheart. Jordan Morris, boy detective. Kimmy Gatewood, dressed with jeans. Yes. Dressed with jeans. The thing about... My favorite Disney Channel movie. The thing about Etsy is, they've spent the last 15 years or so just circling the toilet of uselessness. Like, Etsy used to be like where you would go for something that was more particular slash better.
Starting point is 01:07:29 than you would get an equivalent of an Amazon or an eBay or something like that. I had a Nazi store. You were Rebecca Johnson. The nerds of a feather. We made little feather hair pieces. Wow. There you go. People making beautiful little things.
Starting point is 01:07:43 And then at some point it just became AI photographs of cockatiels in bondage garb. Yes. It's so nice to see a sex positive cockatiel, though. Oh, a bottom. Yeah. Gorge. Yeah, so some of these do appear to be bird clothes, and then some of these just appear to be AI images of birds and overalls.
Starting point is 01:08:12 But it does look like there are some bird aprons. Okay, hold on, Christian, because that white bird that we're looking at right now does look like he may be an actual bird in actual clothes. Is that like a Knicks fan? It might be a Knicks jersey, yeah. Oh, Nick's jersey for your bird. Like if you're Spike Lee.
Starting point is 01:08:35 No, that's not it. Looks like it has like a cassette tape on it. That's like a fun retro graphic. Yeah, it's like a totally radical look. And this is $45. Oh, no. $45. I mean, think about how much you would spend if you had to like paint that directly onto your bird.
Starting point is 01:08:55 Yeah, that's great. So this is a money saver right here. Think about the vinyl you'd have to stretch. Right. You know? Yeah. There's also, they are also just selling clothes with birds on it. Uh-huh.
Starting point is 01:09:07 So if Christian search for, Christian, did you search for bird clothes? Clothes for bird? Clothes for birds. Clothes for birds. Well, it's like one has a kind of a beautiful, like a collar, like a Shakespearean collar, but it's kind of rainbow. Yeah, it also looks a little bit like it's trapped in a meringue. Sure. Yes, the bird does not.
Starting point is 01:09:26 Oh, he does. There's a video of him. putting it on. He does look like he's having fun. Honestly? I like it now. This one's good. This is great. I like this one. And this is 25 bucks too. So this is a val you. Oh, now hold on though, because the examples here, the textiles are quote unquote, girl color examples. Here we go. I don't know. I don't think we need to. There's only two bird
Starting point is 01:09:52 genders. I've heard this before. They both got cloacas. Yeah. And then there's neutral. dark and neutral light. Yeah, I would prefer a gender neutral collar. Yeah. I think a little bucket hat almost. Katie. He made a bucket hat that he poked his head up through.
Starting point is 01:10:09 This says Katie is a petite umbrella cockatoo, so she wears the citron cockatoo size, which is one size smaller. Okay. So that makes sense. This looks like a bucket hat that you would wear to the Cabalwabo canteen. But it's got a birdhead coming out of it. What? Although I guess that bucket I probably might have a birdhead coming. I want to kiss that little bird.
Starting point is 01:10:32 Yeah. Do you say technically this is a parrot? That bird, yeah. That bird's the new lead singer of Smashmouth. Because the first one died. Yeah, he OD'd or something. What a bummer. I know.
Starting point is 01:10:43 Kimmy Gatewood's new. Oh, yes, hey now. Kiko, the brown. You're an all star. Kiko, the brown-necked parrot, wears the conure large-sized collar in a boy color option. His collar has been washed many times and continues to hold up. Washed many?
Starting point is 01:11:02 Because he shits all over it. He's constantly shitting on it. You never have put that cloaca strap on it. These birds look great. It is amazing. Can we say the name of this store, Christian? What's the name? Parrot-Couture.
Starting point is 01:11:20 Oh, so these are, you would get fitted for these in a salon. Mm-hmm. Well, I know what I'm going to wear to the premiere. Do you make these in human size? You could string together two or three bird ones. You know what? Probably you would fit. One for upstairs, one for downstairs.
Starting point is 01:11:38 Oh, yeah, you got to have a downstairs collar when you're walking the red carpet. Can I say, Jordan? Yeah. Do you make these in human size, by which I mean not the collars, but instead the birds wearing collars? That would be terrifying. Because that's what I'd like to take to the premiere. That'd be a Disney Channel movie.
Starting point is 01:11:54 Daddy needs a date. Daddy needs a date. My dad dating a bird? Her collar's pretty hot. My mother, the bird? Mom. You're a parent. I rub you.
Starting point is 01:12:13 I love you too, mom. I rub you too, even though you're a word. Giant. Jordan, you're drunk again. Shut the fuck up. You taught me that. No, you taught me that.
Starting point is 01:12:32 You're drunk right now. Jordan, shut the fuck up and go to your dad's house. I'm going to fuck your mom. I'm your mom's boyfriend. And also Winnie the Pooh's dad? What are we? Try to have a cohesive reality here. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:12:48 Let's just say, Kimmy. Kimmy. Yeah, buds. A lot of our listeners have the Disney Plus. streaming platform. Yay. They have what we didn't have when we were children. On what date, on what date can they and their families watch from beginning to end, descendants colon, wicked wonderland.
Starting point is 01:13:09 It'll be streaming on July 17th on Disney Plus. Coming soon. Yeah. And July 24th on Disney Minus. Oh, okay. Should have sprung for the upgrade. Should have sprung for the upgrade, you fucks. The cheap bastards.
Starting point is 01:13:27 Okay, Kimmy, I think a lot of our listeners are going to watch this because they love musical theater. A lot of our listeners are going to watch this because they were in Into the Woods in high school. That's why I'm going to be watching. A lot of our listeners are going to watch this because they're adult Disney Channel movie enthusiasts. A lot of our listeners are going to watch this because they're fans of Kimmy Gatewood. And all of our listeners are going to watch this so they're going to watch this. can catch an eye load of that tub of sauce. Pause it.
Starting point is 01:14:03 Pause! Look! Right now. Drink every time you see sauce. That's what I say. Throw your spoons at the screen. Unless you're underage. Don't if you're underaged.
Starting point is 01:14:15 No. If you're a young person and you're listening to this, oh boy. I want to say something. Okay. You're right to have Kimmy Gatewood as a hero. of course. You should be listening to her, display her extraordinary talent,
Starting point is 01:14:31 not just as a director, but also as a comic performer on podcasts across this great nation. I want you to know that you don't have to put sauce in your movies to be a success. Kimmy does it because she nasty. But you don't have to. You don't have to. Take it for me. James Corden. This is the last time I talked to James Cordon.
Starting point is 01:15:02 Adele, what are you doing? Get in my car so we can sing songs together. Hold on, I got to leave this restaurant table. I'm leaving a dollar so you know that I knew. I didn't forget to leave a tip. I just thought he would. I didn't think he was great and into the woods. In general, the move, when I saw the movie,
Starting point is 01:15:24 movie as like the cast i mean i love what's her name was mel street Emily blunt uh no uh the other lady there's another lady yeah the other lady from me she's funny go on christian Anna Kendrick Anna Kendrick i think Anna Kendrick's great love Anna Kendrick a star who doesn't love Merrill street Merrill street does a great job um but overall like in Emily blunt Emily Blunt's great I don't have a problem with Emily Blunt in general, but didn't bring the zip I wanted. One more zip. I would have, honestly, I would have gone up to Vancouver and recast. Sure.
Starting point is 01:16:04 Got some great talent up there. A lot of great talent up there. Cardinal official, snow. Snow. They can dance in snow. Rush. They can dance in rain. Rush, thank you.
Starting point is 01:16:15 Rush is a perfect example. The bare naked ladies. John, no. Jean-Cretien. The former prime minister. Our theme music is love you by the free design, courtesy of the free design. Of course, hard core bad. Fucked up.

Starting point is 01:16:43 We're thrilled. Aren't we lucky? Aren't we lucky that you would lower yourself to our standards? Love you by the free design, courtesy of the free design. in the attic record. It's Christian Duenas, the producer of our program. Join us on social media
Starting point is 01:17:00 where you can check out the try hard guys, trying, uh, Dr. Pepper with cream soda. Yes. Trying. Skittles the drink.
Starting point is 01:17:09 Skittles the drink. Trying. Uh, Fago, cotton candy Fago. And you know what we're about to start trying? Uh, Dr. Pepper hot sausages.
Starting point is 01:17:19 Oh, yeah. And the good stuff. Remember the good stuff? That's right. it was a drink from a dream that we read about on Reddit. These will be Max Fund Drive promises fulfilled, so stay tuned.
Starting point is 01:17:32 It's just for context. On Reddit, there's a subreddit where people cook food that they dreamed of. And one person had a dream where they were at a McDonald's, but it was a really beautiful, fancy McDonald's with table service.
Starting point is 01:17:45 And their waiter didn't want them to order Dr. Peppers because he was going to bring them the good stuff. And the waiter's name was order up? I don't know. I might have not been there for this one.
Starting point is 01:17:57 Okay. Yeah. Anyway, the waiter said, I'm not going to bring you Dr. Pepper's. I'll bring you the good stuff. Turns out the good stuff, that's half Dr. Pepper, half apple juice.
Starting point is 01:18:11 So we're going to be drinking the good stuff. Trying the branded sausages. It's going to be a lot of fun. Make sure you're following us on. Say it with me. Social media. Social content. Content.
