Starting point is 00:00:58 We can't wait to see you on the road. In the post-crisis Wonder Woman comics, which ancient plant deity was responsible for transforming archaeologist Barbara Ann Minerva into Wonder Woman's nemesis, the Cheetah? Which ancient plant deity transformed Barbara Ann Minerva into Wonder Woman's nemesis, the Cheetah? I got this one. Okay. Apple King. Apple King. Apple King. Who's Apple King?
Starting point is 00:01:29 He's the king of all types of apples, be it Gala, Granny Smith, Honeycrisp. Yeah. Even even newer apple varietals like Jazz. I thought it was the king of carrot flowers. So, you know, is Apple King a good guy or a bad guy? Depends on the day. Sort of depends on the context. He's a sort of modern antihero. Right. Sometimes sometimes if he's not stored correctly, he can get mealy.
Starting point is 00:01:56 Sometimes if he doesn't like you, he gives you a red delicious. Sometimes a worm drives him. Apple King, an original character invented by Jesse Thorne at this moment. Joel Mann. Here, let me give you some context here. This is the post-crisis DC universe. So in the mid-1986 or 87, don't at me, DC rebooted its entire continuity of its universe, wiping out its history to that point in a storyline called Crisis on Infinite Earths.
Starting point is 00:02:30 Supergirl died, the Flash died, and a lot of history got rewritten and rebooted from that moment going forward. It's happened about 17 times since then, but it was the first time that anyone had ever done this. And if you talk about post-crisis, we're talking about after that restart of their whole history. We're talking about Wonder Woman,
Starting point is 00:02:51 who is a character invented by William Moulton Marston, a notorious eccentric and bondage aficionado. That's why there's a golden lasso in that story. Also the so-called inventor of the lie detector, which is also why there's a golden lasso in that story. Also the so-called inventor of the lie detector, which is also why there's a golden lasso in that story. Anyway, she was formed by mud and a quasi ancient Grecian community of all women called Amazons on a mystical island called Themyscira or Paradise Island. So we're looking for an ancient plant deity who turned a woman
Starting point is 00:03:26 into the cheetah, Wonder Woman's nemesis. And I'm kind of thinking, I don't know the answer but I'm kind of thinking it's got to come from like a Greek pantheon is my guess. So who are the plant goddesses?
Starting point is 00:03:42 Ceres is the goddess of agriculture in the Roman pantheon. This is all just me trying to explain. I know some stuff, Alex. Clearly I know some stuff. I can talk my way around this answer, but I don't know the answer. Grape man. Grape man.
Starting point is 00:03:58 All right, Apple King, Grape Man. And I'm going to say Satsuma Kid just to round out the homages.
