Hello there, everyone.
Judge Andrew Napolitano here for Judging Freedom.
Today is Wednesday, May 11th, 2022.
It's about 3.30, 3.45 in the afternoon.
Sorry about that here on the East Coast of the United States. And late last night,
the House of Representatives passed an aid package of $40 billion, with a B, going to Ukraine.
The same aid package is $7 billion, again with a B, more than what
President Biden asked for. And this package already has bipartisan support enough to overcome
any kind of Republican filibuster. It doesn't appear, it appeared that there will be one
on the Senate side. So assuming this passes, that'll mean a total of 53 and a half billion
with a B dollars worth of military equipment we have given to Ukraine. Those of you who watch
a Freedom Watch regularly know that we are very skeptical of the utility, of the usefulness of this aid. The Russian military is so overwhelming,
they are destined to win. And all the aid is really doing is postponing the inevitable and
causing the deaths of innocents in the interim. The innocents are the Ukraine civilians,
and to some extent, the Russian conscripts, these kids are there because the Russian law requires that they be there.
They're fighting Putin's war.
They're not fighting for any just cause.
Nevertheless, the more equipment we give the Ukrainians, the more the ultimate outcome here is prolonged.
I don't know what the ultimate outcome is going to be.
I don't think that Putin can win the entire show, but he can certainly claim that he has recaptured that part of Ukraine, the eastern part of Ukraine that has Russian people speaking in it,
living in it, commonly called, Russian speaking people living in it, sorry,
commonly called the Donbass, D-O-N-B-A-S region.
As for the military equipment itself, you know, the United States is not going to Raytheon and
saying, you know, build us 150 Stinger missiles. It is basically transferring to the Ukrainians surplus military goods that we already have bought, paid for, and received
and are in storage in NATO countries in Europe, most of them in Poland. The Russians know exactly
where this equipment is. So $53.5 billion worth of American equipment, how much of it actually gets into the hands of the
Ukrainians and how much can they actually use? Well, the Ukrainians need to be trained in using
this equipment and they need to be trained in maintaining it. We are not giving them parts
and we don't have time to give them the training. And according to Scott Ritter, our military expert, who will be on Freedom Watch tomorrow, that's Thursday, May 12, at 2 o'clock in the afternoon Eastern.
According to Scott Ritter, we're giving CIA people, Phil Giraldi, the I'm critical of the Congress if they're making
spending decisions and military decisions based on what they see on television. They should be
basing these decisions, if at all, that is, if they're going to give anything at all on what
the military people and what the
intelligence people tell Congress. And the military people, if they could speak their
truth, will tell Congress there's no way Ukraine wins. And the intelligence people will tell
Congress Putin is so beside himself that it's taken this long. He's going to use whatever tools
are available to him in order to allow him to claim enough territory
so that he can claim a victory, declare victory, and go home. How much American tax dollars will
be spent? Well, this $53 billion is not American tax dollars. What do you mean, Judge? It's borrowed
money. So it'll be more than $53 billion by the time we pay it back you all know
how that works the government doesn't have the cash the government bars the cash it gets it
immediately from people some people like you and i some big uh investors are purchasing government
bonds that's where the government gets the cash sometimes the government creates the cash out of
thin air just by adding numbers to the accounts of its favorite
banks in the Federal Reserve. Whatever it is, it's not taxpayer dollars, but it's money that needs to
be repaid. And where is the money going? The surplus equipment. And what is happening to the
surplus equipment? It's being destroyed. Where I am, the Congress, the House, or the Senate, I would
vote against this for the
reasons I have just articulated. The government is willing to spend your money willy-nilly,
not on the basis of raw intelligence, not on the basis of military necessity,
but on the basis of what it sees on television. That's reprehensible. Judge Napolitano,
