Hello there everyone, Judge Andrew Napolitano here for Judging Freedom. Today is Thursday,
April 14. It's about 2.25 in the afternoon here on the east coast of the United States.
Two events happened today with respect to abortion in America. And by the way,
there seems to be so many things happening with abortion in America,
we could almost have a segment on it.
Before I get to it, if you like what you see and hear here on Judging Freedom,
please like and subscribe.
My goal has been 12,000 subscribers by Easter, and we're getting very close.
Today's Holy Thursday.
We have three days to go.
Next week on Tuesday, Ron Paul, 1245 in the afternoon Eastern, when you can like and subscribe
anytime you want.
Here's what happened today.
Today, the legislature of the state of Kentucky overrode the veto of Governor Andrew Beshear
of legislation which would make abortion in Kentucky a felony if performed by
physicians after the 15th week of pregnancy. There are exceptions for rape and incest in the life of
the mother in a true emergency. Also today, Governor Ron DeSantis of Florida signed legislation in Florida which bans all abortions with no exceptions after the 15th week of the pregnancy.
These banning on abortions, which of course I as a person who believes that the fetus in the womb is a person entitled to all the protection that a postnatal person has.
These statutes all presume that Roe versus Wade is going to be invalidated by the Supreme Court.
As I speak, it is still the law of the land.
So these decisions by the legislature of Texas, the legislature of Mississippi, the legislature of Florida and Kentucky. These are
actually acts of nullification. These are state legislatures nullifying a federal principle of law.
In the case of Texas, the Supreme Court twice declined to get involved, basically saying,
even though nullification hasn't been exercised successfully in the United States of
America since 1830, 1830, we're going to allow nullification now. We're going to allow Texas
and other states that agree with Texas to nullify Roe versus Wade until we rule on it. That's
probably a pretty good indication of which way
a majority of the court is going to go. You can talk about the politics. You can talk about whether
invalidating Roe versus Wade helps Republicans or helps Democrats in 2022. But nullifying Roe
versus Wade, at least in the states that respect human life, will enhance human life.
Not where I live. I live in New Jersey. New Jersey and California will become the capitals
of abortion. In New Jersey and in California, abortion is now lawful up to the moment
before birth. In New Jersey and California, if you cannot afford to pay for an abortion,
the state will pay for it for you. In Kentucky and Florida and Mississippi and Texas,
it's homicide. Judge Napolitano for Judging Freedom. Thank you.
