Hello there everyone, Judge Andrew Napolitano here with Judging Freedom.
Today is Monday, February 7, 2022. It's about 1.50 in the afternoon here on the East Coast of the United States. On Thursday evening,
the notorious AOC, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, the socialist congresswoman from Queens, New York,
was being interviewed on Yahoo, and she said that capitalism doesn't work anymore,
and capitalism is rotten to the core, and we need a new system in America. I guess she forgot about the oath she took to uphold the Constitution of the United
States, which preserves, protects, and defends capitalism, where the Fifth Amendment prohibits
the government from taking life, liberty, or property without due process of law. In Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez's world,
the government would regulate the means of production and the salaries to be paid rather
than the free market regulating it. The problem with capitalism today is not that it's too much
freedom. There's not enough freedom. Too much of capitalism is regulated by the government.
That's where the inequities come in because government makes decisions based on politics.
The government is bankrupt.
What does it know about how to manufacture something or sell something or hire people?
The government has no transparency income, and no competition. Capitalism has transparency
if you are in the stock markets. It has competition, and it has to deal with budgets
and supply and demand. She is totally misguided. Look, she's entitled to say what she wants. It's
hard for me to believe that the good
people of Queens, New York have sent this crazy woman to the House of Representatives, but they
have. And while there, she's free to say what she wants, but she needs to be called out when she
attacks the core of this country. Nothing has lifted the middle class out of lower middle class and nothing has lifted the poor out of
poverty and into the middle class than capitalism. Working hard, saving your money, buying a home,
paying your bills, watching the home, appreciate and saving money. Saving money is not rewarded
today because of government regulation, because the Federal
Reserve has kept interest rates so low that the banks pay next to nothing when you save money.
So AOC, you got the cart before the horse. The problem is not more government, it's less
government. Capitalism is freedom, and capitalism and freedom equal prosperity. Judge Napolitano, judging freedom.
